Hello friend. At first, I thought it was a joke that there's a Lego show that people love. I've seen you post about it a lot so I figure it's just one of those things that maybe a couple people really really love otherwise, whatever. But I just sat that clip of that characters death and it made me realize I know nothing about anything ever lol. What is the Lego show about? What do you love about it? I'm just super curious

Well. Okay. My embarrassment aside, I totally get it—it is a lego show, but it's my lego show and I'll gladly tell you about it!

(my apologies this got a little long)

*inhales cigarette* I remember starting to watch lmk (Lego Monkie Kid) and not expecting anything except some very pretty animation—it's just legos, right? And then it completely blindsided me. Then I did some digging and realized it's a modern retelling of Journey to the West (jttw—one of the great classic chinese novels), and that half of the whole reason this show exists is to retell a familiar tale to the modern age. That's how the show opens, and that's how s3 ends.

And, at the risk of sounding a little deranged, I'm going to say that the show being legos is thematically relevant. It legitimately adds to part of the story they're trying to tell—and the story Lego Monkie Kid is trying to tell is legitimately very solid. It's super good. They completely blew me out of the water with season 4.

So. The first special and s1 isn't anything too unique on a first watch through. The characters are charming and the show is very pretty, but it's nothing I'd write home about (though, 1x09 is very good—in my opinion—and 1x10, the season finale, builds plenty of intrigue).

But here's the thing: legitimately so much is set up in s1 and you don't even realize it, and it's STILL being re-contextualized well into s4.

So, then the s2 special happens right after s1, and it's like, alright! The plot seems to be going somewhere! We get introduced to a few more antagonists and the status quo from s1 is already somewhat disrupted. But then the last half of s2 comes around. And they're all bangers. 2x05 Minor Scale is GREAT. 2x06 is pure game motif. 2x07 gives us backstory and continues the main protags negative character arc. 2x08 is one of my favorites in the whole show. By this point you realize how consistent the character writing is if you've been paying attention. 2x09 is the beginning of the end. 2x10 ends the season on quite the cliff hanger, and it's like. HOLY SHIT. WHAT IS THIS ABSOLUTE GEM OF A SHOW.

s3 is lovely, and the end of the s3 special has one of my favorite scenes in anything. s4 is so ridiculously good. Lmk honestly has what I would consider to be god tier pacing. They have 10 minutes to achieve their goal, and by GOD are they going to do exactly that.

But like, what do I love about the show specifically?

The animation. The characters. The themes. I kid you not a major theme in s4 of the show is the fact that every single thing you do leads to pain. Being the hero or the villain, it doesn't matter—you cause suffering and destruction with every step you take. You hurt the people you care about. No, seriously. I'm not kidding. THAT'S one of the main focuses of s4, and oh boy is it a wild ride. You get used to legos crying. I am unironically expecting s5 of this show to be a tragedy.

I can not recommend it enough!

(If it's your thing that is! I TOTALLY get not being able to look past the legos, and the fast pacing isn't for everyone.)

You sighed as you watched the coffee maker slowly pour out the dark brown liquid that you so desperately craved, despite it being two in the morning.

Like normal after a hunt, for the life of you, you couldn't sleep. You had tossed and turned for the better part of two hours before you finally said, "fuck it," and came into the kitchen; making yourself a cup of coffee because why not? You were already wired from the adrenaline anyway.

As the coffee started to finish pouring itself into the carafe, you reached up into the cabinet above and grabbed your favorite mug; grateful that Dean had washed it for you after using it.

Taking the carafe in hand, you slowly poured the liquid into your mug, slightly inhaling the scent as you did so; before you sat down on the small kitchen table against the wall.

As you sipped your coffee, you heard footsteps coming from the other end of the hall — Dean — you could recognize the sounds of his footsteps from anywhere.

Walking into the kitchen, Dean smiled at you, and gestured to the mug that was currently still stationed in your hands. "Couldn't sleep either uh?" He asked, and you nodded in response.

"Always jealous that Sam can just conk out after a hunt," you said, as you started playing with the rim of your mug. "There's still some coffee left if you want any," you offered.

"Thanks," he nodded. At first, he wasn't going to take you up on your offer, but decided that he would, as his body was still full of adrenaline much like yourself. "Listen," he began, as he took the carafe and started pouring coffee into his mug. "If you ever find yourself unable to sleep, my door is always open."

A small smile formed on your lips at his offer. "Thanks. Might actually take you up on that sometime if you're being serious."

"Of course I'm serious," he said; his tone indicating that he was slightly offended by your comment. "We're...friends," the word friends coming off rather hesitant sounding.

"Just friends?" You teased, raising a brow. Dean's face went slightly flush then, almost embarrassed by your comment. You couldn't help but smile at the pinkness of his cheeks, finding it adorable that you had managed to make Dean Winchester blush.

Hiii! I'm so glad I came across your blog and I love the snape and sibling! Reader fics so would you mind writing a sibling reader fic where she's the defence teacher in yr2 instead of lockhart and maybe she's an auror ( from another ministry) or sumn?? Anyway she starts a duelling club and brings severus for the demo and they get abit too into it, although no one gets hurt and it ends with a draw. The students are awestruck and asks her how she got so good at it and she's like "oh it's thanks to my big brother :)" ? Just sumn cute and fluffy! Thankss!!

"Wow I can’t believe we’ll actually see real live dueling, I only read about them in books" Hermione said running behind her friends in the hall.

"If the new professor is as good as the rumors have it then it’s gonna be a show!" Ron grinned.

"I heard Malfoy saying she learned from the best" Harry said out of breath as they finally reached the dueling club.

"She was an auror in Russia of course she learned from the best you two!" Hermione huffed hugging her book close.

The classroom was crowded from students from all four houses and you stood in the middle of the room wearing your casual witch robes, except for your teaching robe that you layered over your regular outfit.

You healed your head high and smiled at every passing student till you deemed that the attendance time was over and flicked your wand to close the door.

"Well kiddos I’m so happy you came today! I think this dueling club would be a good opportunity to expand our knowledge outside the textbooks and you all can get firsthand experience at how two real duelist are in the wild" The kids whispered among themselves seemingly excited to start with the session already.

"To achieve that, today I am welcoming my lovely assistant, professor snape" You flicked your hand dramatically as the potion master stepped on the mini dueling ground.

"Snape? That’s out to be interesting" Ron whispered to Harry.

"At first we will demonstrate compact but don’t worry you all will have your heads in place and your precious potion master is gonna come back in one piece-"

"Not quite sure about your defense professor though" Snape cut you off and smirked.

There was silence before you titled your head with. Glint in your eyes "I see our duel should start soon since you’re losing your patience this quickly"

You lifted your wand up and smirked "like the old times?"

He lifted his wand up and arched a brow "Like the old times"

Two steps back then you both went into dueling poses.

The student watched with wide eyes as your wand sparked with your first attack and snape dogged it smoothly like a dance move and fired back.

You knelt to the ground dodging his attack and sent a blow to his leg which knocked his off balance but not enough to make him distracted.

"Professor!" One of the hufflepuffs screamed in panic as a curse hit your shoulder slamming you to the ground, you ground in pain, it didn’t cause any actual damage but it stung like a bitch.

"Come on professor, don’t tell me you’ve given up already" Said snape standing to his feet again and pointing his wand any you like a madman.

You huffed and pushed yourself up from the ground and spin around, sliding back in the battle like your nothing just happened.

Snape matched your speed like it was second nature, his hair matched yours as it flew with each attacked, till it stuck your skin from sweat and both of you stood heaving with your hands clenched in your fists.

You licked your lips then smiled at him, he sighed then you both let go of your wands.

"It’s a…draw!" Harry yelled before the crowds of students clapped in applause and screamed.

Snape stood straight and put his wand back in his inner coat pocket.

You walked up to him and held out your hand.

He shock your hand without hesitation and then turned to face the students who seemed too overjoyed by the whole thing to remember how much they were terrified of him.

"You can ask questions now, just raise your hand" you said breathlessly.

An eco of me me covered the, snape rolled his eyes but you chuckled in relief.

"Ok ok! One by one….you! Weasley, Ronald"

Ron looked at his friends excitedly, almost jumping in place "How did you learn all of that?! Is it true you were in the Russia ministry?!"

Snape snorted, you paid him no mind.

You crossed your arms "Well, yes I did work in the Russian ministry for a while but most of my advanced techniques come from one person, my big brother, your dear professor snape but to me he’s just sev"

The students faces were priceless and for once you understood why your brother liked to bother them this much.

Severus put his hand on your shoulder and nodded "If you find yourself capable of following basic instructions and find determination to actually learned something from this club you might end up half as good as your professor"

"Did you just complement me?"

"Take it or leave it." Then he walked off the dueling area.

"I can’t believe they’re related!"

"Honestly, it kinda make’s sense, he didn’t sneer at her the entire two weeks she was here" hermione pointed out.

"That’s true…that’s so weird still" Harry stared at you as you answered more questions by his classmates, it made him wonder, what sort of person was his git of a professor was actually like outside of school.

"And with hard work you too can be as good as a duelist one day, but of course don’t go crazy challenging my brother, he is the best of the best"

Reading SVSSS: Bonus Chapter 26

For those who don't know, I am reading SVSSS for the first time and sharing my thoughts!

This chapter took me two days to go through! It's SO LONG (120 pages). I wanted to post yesterday but I got 60 pages in and started fading. Winter is here and the sun keeps disappearing too quickly, your boy is feeling the SAD.

HEAR ME OUT. Egg? It's fucking Egg. I <3333333 the biblically accurate angel. I <3 every Egg design I've seen. BUT. I think that guy should be allowed to fuck around and find out and change it. Change how many eyes he has. If he's a floating eye, if he has a head, if he has (small) wings. I think Egg should be allowed to do whatever forever, because he's the best bitch here /silly. (I <3 Egg more than anything.)

Spoke on the other hand? I think his form was probably already goofy. That mass of pure black void already shifted his form periodically. Not much, because he had no reason to, just sometimes and typically as minor things. Then he duped items, and he got fucked. I think after he duped items he lost sense of who he was, since he lost Jamato(?? how spell...), and now struggles to keep form, except for in high stress situations, since he has to be "stable" to be able to hide and fight. He's learning to function again with Mapic, but it's hard, and it's easy to see with how his form refuses to settle. (I think there's times his form mimics Jamato. It's not a perfect recreation, more of a vagueness / uncanny valley situation. Not often, but sometimes.)

One's form change is always conscious, and the other's form change is typically unknowingly done. And I just. Squeezes them.

(Heads up, I will be back to yap as soon as possible about other characters and how I think function and / or their design. I'm normal about character designs. <- Making a combined ref of as many Clown's as possible to compare and contrast how he is in different series.)

just a heads up before i start my yapping: these are all solely my personal opinions and i don't mean to come off as hostile towards other blogs. no hard feelings here!

i don't mind when others tl the same stories i do. because the original content isn't mine to begin with — everything belongs to cybird. however, i do know that some blogs are more particular about this type of situation.

to me, i think it's not very fair to say things like ah i like this suitor so only i can translate his content. every blog has their favourite suitor and one they enjoy tling for the most. using elimination method, i'm only left with liam. but if we go by that logic of only one blog can tl for specific suitors, some blogs are going to be dormant. take my blog for example — i mostly tl for liam, but now he's been banished into the cold palace by the game and i don't have any new liam content to tl. does that mean i should let my blog die, then? since i can't tl for other suitors, in order to avoid conflict. should i... delete my blog? let it collect cobwebs?

a major concern some blogs have would be that other blog's tl for the same story will get more interactions than their own. while i think their feelings are valid, because seeing your post reach a large audience can make you feel appreciated, it's just not a problem for me. after all, my main oshi is already unpopular, so i don't expect anyone to even read what i tl. another concern would be losing motivation after seeing that someone else has already completed the story's translation — i experience this too and i soooo understand this feeling. but then again, who am i to stop them? i don't want to make myself miserable. block and move on.

anyway. i do what i do because i enjoy the game and i love liam, not for "fame" or anything. my life is very fulfilling^^, i have a purpose that goes beyond being a silly little tumblr blog.

i wouldn't confront anyone for tling the same story i did. i just think that... if you're not happy with it, you can simply don't reblog or like the other person's tl. there's no need to make enemies over such minor things.

i say all this... and yet i dare not be the one tling the same story as another blog. i always tell myself to just do it and not care what anyone says, or if anyone wants to think i'm a bitch for "copying" others. but i dislike confrontation, so i actively avoid it. maybe someday i'll get over this fear and tl whatever i want.

i'll take this opportunity to share all my thoughts on the topic bc i have Many.

TLDR: it is possible to read it as romantic if you really want to, but it's not meant to (at least not as of right now in the story aka ch.224)

i like how you phrased that bc, the thing is, interpretation is very subjective. you're welcome and allowed to interpret things however you want, but in EY&HJ's case, i feel like you'd have to work a lil extra hard to get to that point.

this one's easy bc no. objectively Not. the genre of No Home is drama and slice of life (and once upon a time, horror). even if they were to ever end up in a romantic relationship, that's not what the story is about.

when i ask myself what the author's intention is with this story, i'd say it's to (realistically) portray how a young person with trauma would navigate another young person's trauma. and showing how easy it is to unintentionally fuck it up for various reasons: lacking context as to what exactly said trauma is, generally not knowing how to navigate it, their own trauma getting in the way, lacking the necessary resources. take your pick.

think of it like "how should i carry someone else's baggage when i have my own to deal with?" while also keeping in mind they're kids; they often don't have enough experience to know how to help, and even when they know what the right thing to do is, they're not old enough to take (legal) action.

and especially, the most heart-breaking yet realistic thing, when you're just getting to know someone, you can't know everything about them. it's so easy to accidentally do or say sth that cuts or offends when it wasn't meant to. but when they've got their own issues, it's hard not to take it personally (eg. EY talking about HJ's parents without knowing his mom died not long ago in the beginning of the story).

this one's so funny bc i have no idea how to answer and i'm convinced not even EY and HJ themselves would know how to answer. they're not really friends; they got off on the wrong foot and kept walking with two left feet way too much to call themselves friends. the things that pushed them together the most were the dorms (not anymore) and the same friend group (more or less since EY has multiple).

what fits them best i'd say is "the universe forced us together against our will and now we're stuck with one another altho we hate each other" (<- at least in the beginning) extended with the "misery loves company" sentiment. finding comfort in someone who gets it, even tho they only kinda get it but not really but it works out anyway except it doesn't <- THERE'S NO NAME FOR THAT *cry* they invented a new type of character dynamic smh (i've never read a pairing with so much (romantic) potential only to see them completely fuck up their chance so royally by the end of their interaction EVERY SINGLE TIME. like yeah, enemies to lovers whatever BUT NOT TO THAT LEVEL HOLY SHIT)

they've changed each other, sometimes for the better and sometimes for the worse. they're compatible in the way they understand each other on a deeper level and incompatible in the way they don't.

since the beginning, EY has helped HJ (or at least tried to) without him knowing. sometimes it worked out, sometimes not. most times EY tried doing sth nice for HJ was (from EY's perspective) in return to HJ trying to help him or doing nice things for him (which, again, sometimes worked out, sometimes not). EY was just paying back a debt to "this stubborn naive guy who keeps getting into trouble and butting into his business. gotta look out for this idiot or he might get scammed." (<- eg. when EY offered to get HJ's money back from his uncle)

he doesn't do it for credit or friendship or out of obligation, he's just doing what he thinks is the right thing bc he doesn't want to owe anyone anything. he can't accept people just genuinely being kind, genuinely caring and genuinely wanting to help. but he's been learning and slowly coming to terms with it.

<- -> HJ first wanted to try befriending EY despite not liking him bc, well, the guy did steal his wallet and stab him in their first interaction. after trying and failing at it multiple times, thanksgiving happened, and HJ started thinking of EY as his underclassman bc he realized EY's just a kid with issues and he should keep an eye on him (discretely bc EY hates pity).

with time HJ has come to understand EY better by going after him whenever he ran off and slowly realized that EY does mean well and has his reasons (as fucked up as they might be sometimes). but his mentality abt EY is still "i gotta push him in the right direction cuz he's my underclassman and i unintentionally got attached to him (somehow??)" (also bc he knows EY already gave up on himself so he needs a lil help to find his way again. also also bc he knows EY is lowkey suicidal and he's scared it'll be his fault if sth happens) <- his care for EY comes from a protective/nurturing (/possibly maybe guilty) place which started when he realized EY was just a kid^^. in other words, HJ still bothers with EY out of a subconscious sense of responsibility/obligation in a way (a good way tho. or at least a way that gets better)

see, sth i struggle with is if HJ thinks he has to or wants to or thinks he should or can't just not help/care for EY. i can't exactly pinpoint where the sentiment is coming from. his face is too blank for me to read sometimes T_T

to summarize: HJ is EY's goal, what EY wishes he could've been. and EY is HJ's 'responsibility' so to speak (bc 'burden' doesn't quite fit since HJ is there for EY willingly) -> EY has a positive opinion of HJ while HJ has a neutral opinion of EY (which is also gradually getting better)

note1: i think HJ's intention (maybe subconsciously) was to be to EY what HJ's upperclassman was to him. aka someone who's there when you need it and can help guide you. it would explain why HJ kept chasing after EY despite not really having a reason to and EY repeatedly rejecting HJ's care/help.

note2: i also believe the 'upper-under-classman' relationship dynamic fits them the best atm bc it also matches the way the story often singles EY out as he's the only second year (aka younger) of the 6 MCs.

-> Romance in No Home?

another thing i should mention is that No Home rarely leaves things open for interpretation. the deepest arguments EY&HJ had were always spelled out for us, to make us understand exactly what the problem was, and how there isn't a good guy and a bad guy. it's just two people with issuesTM.

from what we've seen in the story up to this point, i couldn't pick out a moment where i'd go "here! that's romantic! that's the moment they realized SomeThing!" yk

when it comes to romance specifically, i feel like a handful of opportunities were missed. there are scenes which could've easily been written trough a rosy lens but simply weren't.

exhibit A:

HJ was speechless bc "wow this mf really is actively picking a fight with an authority figure. i gotta make sure things don't escalate" not bc "hoLY sHiT hE's PreTTy. all his fangirls are on to something". however, this only becomes more clear when you keep reading the next few chapters, so i understand how you could interpret it as the latter.

exhibit B:

here they got so close and the moment was so deep bc "woaa he said he believes me. no one's said to me that before!". unfortunately, EY was panicking too much for it to mean something bc of the guilt he felt for HJ trusting someone so undeserving of trust like EY.

exhibit C:

this is maybe the closest we got to romantic between these two. i think this might be the only (or at least first) ever deep interaction between them that didn't end in a fight or misunderstanding. is it meant to be romantic tho? -> ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

first, full transparency: i went into reading this story fully expecting it to be a BL and for EY&HJ to end up together. but the more i kept on reading, the more i got the ick thinking about them being in a (romantic) relationship bc, at least from what we've seen so far in the story, their relationship would be so ToxicTM (which i personally don't enjoy reading).

as they are right now, i wouldn't want them to be together like that. like, honestly, you still can't really consider these two even friends; they just tolerate each other if the stars align correctly (altho, i'll admit, their relationship is gradually getting better!!). every big argument they had i thought "god, there's no coming back from that. i'd cut ties so quickly if was them wtf". i still don't know how they managed to keep on interacting, props to them ig.

there's a lot of unresolved issues between them. and a lot of resentment which would not bode well in a romantic relationship. the smallest argument would turn explosive and they'd be, at best, in an on&off type of relationship. they both have the power to break the other and neither would be afraid to use it. they have a lot of history together, which is not always pleasant, so if they ever were to go the romantic route, it would have to be a long way to go.

technically, i could see them in a romantic relationship if they both went to therapy first and talked out all the baggage they're carrying (both individual and shared). realistically tho, what i think will happen at the end of No Home is that either they never cross paths again after high school ends (which would absolutely break my heart Wanan pls don't), or they somehow (unintentionally) end up living together bc they both desperately needed a roommate to pay rent (which would be a hilarious fucking gag LMAO). just, HJ going to uni/work and EY doing his own thing (prolly an actor) while still cohabiting together; hanging out to watch a movie before bed <- (whether platonic or romantic being left up for interpretation)

<- -> in conclusion, from what we've seen up to this point, their relationship is mainly upper-under-classman; reluctant (maybe) friends who tolerate each other but also care (too) deeply. they've changed each other, sometimes for the better and sometimes for the worse. in some ways they're compatible and in others they're not.

all this being said, their relationship is improving and romance between EY&HJ is not impossible, just rather unlikely imo. but, again, interpretation is subjective and u're welcome to read their relationship however you want.
