anyways, wemmbu was a dormant god, woken up by the exploits. that's why he heavily targeted spoke in both their first episodes, because spoke woke him up.

the reason he wanted to settle down at the start of season 2 and got so mad at theo for disrupting his and egg's peace was because he wanted to go back into another millennium long slumber. egg is also a god for the sillies, that's why they know each other so well.

this is more of a silly au than a hc but i still thought it'd still be fun to share :D

wemmjoice under the cut for those who care i guess

There was something.. calming, about the way Rejoice moved around the fields of sunflowers. Something about the way his cyan and scarlet trenchcoat billowed behind him. In the way his smile never dropped. She could tell, even if he never looked back at her.

His smile was brighter than the sun. Even at it's highest point in the sky; nothing was more beautiful than Rejoice's curled lips, parted slightly with a laugh.

His calloused hands- worn from years of wielding a sword- gently brushed against the petals of the sunflowers, like they were the most fragile, most beautiful his eyes had ever gazed upon. They probably were, Wemmbu was sure of it- though the blue and purple mushrooms back at the ancient civilization were quite the sight to behold.

The totem resting crookedly in his wrist gauntlet sparkled teasingly in the setting sun with each movement of his hand. Sometimes, she would try to approach him, tell him it's crooked, and fix it for him. But, he just kept getting farther and farther away. Wemmbu was near convinced that she was destined to appreciate his clumsy beauty from afar.

She'd call out when he was about to trip, laugh at his bumbling nature, or when the skies turned gray with signs of storm. He'd always ignore her. Wemmbu could handle that- this, one-sided relationship of their's.

Her vex scales fluttered in the spring breeze after each rainfall, and Rejoice was always there to greet her. Well, not exactly greet her, but he was always there.

There were more people around- two, to be exact. Maybe they'd try to make conversation with her, or just... be near her, sitting next to her as a gentle presence. Sometimes, Wemmbu'd enjoy their presence, other times, not so much. They came and went though- her only constant was the tantalizing man just 5 feet ahead of her. So close, yet so far.

...

One day, a gentle pressure against her shoulder interrupted her peace. She looked up, warm and concerned eyes meeting her own. Egg, she finally remembered.

"Dude," they started, like they always had, "It's not your fault."

But.

But it was.

Rejoice was gone because of her, blood still mixing with the oozing skulk in the back of her retinas.

The wardens- she should've maced them sooned- could have. She could've corus'd in sooner, instead of having to mine through with mining fatigue. Could've left him out of all of this in the first place! But, she didn't. And Rejoice had to pay the toll- her toll.

Egg sighed when she gave no response, sitting next to her with their legs folded under them, hand still steady on her shoulder. "Rejoice wouldn't want you grieving like this bro- he'd want you, like, being active, going out there and living your life," they sighed again. "You haven't eaten something substantial in days, dude. Even Lopez is worried about you, and you know how she is."

Wemmbu hands balled before she released them, a sigh escaping her own lips. "Whatever, bro." She rolled her eyes, leaning against Egg's shoulder. She didn't tear her gaze away from the sunset, hopeful that maybe- just maybe- Rejoice would come bounding to her, a bouquet of sunflowers in his hands. Maybe, she'd accept it this time.
