As someone who loves Elena and couldn't watch season 7 for a long time bc she left the show, the reason the majority of the remaining fandom hates Elena is
1: They're Stefan stans who love him and can't stand the fact that tvd is about a love triangle between Stefan, Elena and Damon, and Elena picks Damon. So they spend their time calling Elena a selfish slut and complaining about the writing and fanservice
2: Caroline stans who like to feel special for hating the female main character
3: Bamon stans who read the books and think Bonnie deserves better (Which she did) means her ending up with Damon and blames Elena for Bonnie not getting a better ending instead of Julie Plague
I will never not be baffled by the way Elena is genuinely the most disliked tvdu character for doing the same exact thing the other characters did, she's whiny/self centered/selfish/a bad friend and a horrible person in general? That's every other character, they were all either murderers/rapists/pedos or besties with/defended said characters somehow Elena is the only one to be held accountable to this degree , like it's a cw vampires show written by Julie plague y'all can let my girl breathe a little

I get being upset about Bonnie not being invited to the Mikaelson ball, but here you go once again, blaming Caroline for a choice the writer's made, something she had no part of. People are getting weird AF with their anti Caroline stance and it's getting ridiculous.
Here you go once again, putting words I didn't say in my mouth.
Does it upset me that Bonnie wasn't invited to the ball? Yes. Does Caroline being there make me mad? No. Do I think she shouldn't have come? Yes, I certainly think so.
I complained about Caroline and Matt being there because plot wise it was absolutely stupid and it made no sense. They didn't add absolutely nothing to the events developing there, and their presence was completely unneeded: Caroline and Matt were there solely because of Klaus and Rebekah/delena. This was the moment the showrunners decided to start writing klaroline, exclusively and only because the fans liked their first scene together, so they decided to have her going to the ball just to have their "romance" developing, which made no sense for her at all;
Klaus literally tried to kill her a few episodes prior, he had Tyler bite her on her birthday leaving her on the brink of death and then he showed up to heal her. Where is her self-preservation? Wasn't she scared of him at all?
It's funny to me that she only accepted to go because of Rebekah inviting Matt. Did she thought he was in potential danger? Did she decide to go to try to protect him? I get she was worried about her friend, but this is slightly strange.
Matt was just there for Rebekah and to make Damon and Elena fight because of his altercation with Kol, nothing else, and his presence and the issue he caused wasn't that serious because they made up an episode later. Why would he go? He was a human on a house full of the oldest vampires to ever live, and he was aware of this. I'm aware Matt isn't the brightest person to walk the earth, but everybody knows a human shouldn't be around bloodthirsty vampires.
Again, just stupid. Caroline and Matt shouldn't have been at the ball, that's all. Elena and the Salvatore going made sense: she was the doppelgänger, Stefan had story with them and Damon wouldn't allow her to go anywhere without any of them.
Bonnie, however, had every single reason to be there:
She was Ayana's descendant.
Esther would want to meet a Bennett witch, seeing she was best friends with one once and she knew they were powerful allies.
She had been more close than anyone to killing Klaus: the fact that he didn't try to seduce her or try to kill her was ooc, especially because he befriended witches before klaroline came in.
Kol loved witches and this bitch knows everything about everyone. It surprises me that he didn't try to get her on his side or at least use her to try to take down any member of his family.
The Bennett bloodline is far more powerful in magic terms than any other family could ever be, their blood was needed for like half of the most powerful spells and the fact that not a single person thought about getting on Bonnie's good side is completely stupid.
What is ridiculous is that people dickride 3x14 to hell because of the fanservice. I love this episode, but calling out it's flaws it's not a bad thing.

Stefan: wants revenge on Klaus for the shit he pulled on him, even going as far as to almost drive the love of his life off of Wickery Bridge. Knowing that that her parents almost died and where she almost died.
Fandom: Stefan has every right to hate Klaus!!! He didn’t actually do it!!! His humanity was off (it was on and yes he was dealing with the guilt and pain, but I’m not gonna go dismiss my baby girl’s trauma either).
Tyler: wants revenge on Klaus for killing him, forcing him into becoming a hybrid, making him into his slave, forced him to bite his gf, killed his mother (aka his last living family member) because Tyler dared to save innocent hybrids from being sired, killed his pack, and drove him out of his hometown. Tearfully leaves because while he loves Caroline, he doesn’t want to live under a psychopath’s thumb and wants justice. Keep in mind that he didn’t abuse Caroline in the process unlike something a certain Salvatore brother did to the love of his life.
Fandom: T-Tyler is such a dick! He chose revenge over Caroline! He hates Klaus more than he loves Caroline! How dare he not grieve the way his girlfriend wanted him to! Klaus/Stefan would never!

Stefonnie deleted scene
I’ll never get over the deleted Bonnie and Stefan scenes from season 1 episode 11. This was such a sweet moment that really highlighted Bonnie emotions about her new reality. For some reason some Stan’s act as if they can’t read between the lines with certain characters in certain situations in regard to their feelings and Bonnie’s the main example of that. The show never gave Bonnie a moment to truly express her feelings in most situations in a vulnerable way but THIS WAS THIS WAS THEIR MOMENT!!!
This scene was their moment to give insight to Bonnie’s inner emotions that she hid Instead of giving her the “I’ll be strong” attitude that was so single noted. Although I don’t think this scene would of changed a lot of fans feelings towards Bonnie’s since she was still on guard and judgment to vampires/their faves it still would of been nice to see a more vulnerable side to Bonnie to add more depth to her character. Bonnie wasn’t just scared of vampires she was scared of being a witch and it’s not bc she hated it all it’s because she needed time to understand what was going on around her.
I DONT KNOW WHY STANS ACT LIKE THATS AN ABNORMAL FEELING TO HAVE (besides the obvious her hating on their faves).
Side note: this was such a good Stefonnie scene as well and I hate that the writers ruined the potential friendship that could have been them.
This Scene:

That's disgusting yet not surprising there's alot of racism in the tvdu Fandom especially to bonnie
The hate Bonnie gets for being with Enzo from Caroline stans who ship Caroline with Enzo is disturbing. Calling Bonnie a whore, saying she was flirting with Damon while having a romance with Enzo and took Enzo from Caroline, saying Caroline has it worse than Bonnie romantically because she wasn't the first choice, calling her ugly, etc. They're also jealous over Kai finding Bonnie attractive and say that they wish Kai had a thing with Caroline and that Bonnie typically gets interest from more interesting characters while Caroline gets Matt and Tyler. It was worse when Bonenzo started but a few months ago when Julie's TVD tweet went viral and many were tweeting at her over the racist treatment of Bonnie I saw some Caroline stans say if Bonnie wasn't black she wouldn't be as liked since she's "boring." They also fail to lack empathy for Bonnie when she was understandably jealous of Liv flirting with Jeremy but say Valerie telling Caroline she was Stefan's first love (a fact) was the show making Caroline insecure. Bonnie had to comfort Caroline over Valerie but was she comforted over Liv? Julie said Caroline was her favorite character to write for unsurprisingly.
Bonnie is always treated terribly, even by the fans. Caroline does a lot of shitty things that are allowed because she is "relatable" and the favourite. She never faces consequences, and the ones she should face is Bonnie who suffers them.
I still remember Caroline wanting Bonnie to go to her wedding after Stefan killed Enzo.

Glad you’re back!
What is your most unpopular opinion on both TVD and TO?
I love when y'all try to get me canceled.
Just joking. I'm all about honesty here, even if it is unpopular. I've talked about a lot of unpopular opinions so I'll try for ones I don't think I discuss that much. But remember, y'all asked for my most unpopular opinions, they are going to be unpopular.
I will make my normal disclaimer. This is simply a personal blog about a show that ended ten years ago. Yes, we have serious discussions, but at the end of the day, it is my opinion of my interpretation. Me not liking your favorite character/ship is not a reflection on you or your opinions. We can have civil conversations even if we disagree over opinions.
So without further ado.
My most unpopular opinion on TVD is that Delena is a bad ship and wouldn't work out in the long run. (Don't get angry, I'm tagging this appropriately. If you want to read this and have a genuine discussion, great. If not, please just scroll).
Tumblr media
Damon was brought on the show as the main villain in season 1 and did unspeakable things to Elena and her friends. Yes, there are times we can move past this. I once said that Enzo is what they wanted Damon to be. I feel like in the later seasons they learned their mistakes and attempted to rewrite a lot of the history, but unfortunately, the history was already there. With Enzo, he did really messed up things, but his back story was directly linked to his terrible actions. Whereas Damon just did bad things because it was fun and then had a bit of a sad backstory.
Damon's issue is that he loves too deeply/obsessively. He was so obsessed with Katherine that he was willing to leave Stefan behind to become a vampire with her. He wanted to become a vampire for Katherine. He only changed his mind when he thought she was dead and then didn't want to turn with Stefan. Once he found out Katherine might be alive, he spent every second attempting to get her back. Even using Elena. He was not at all interested in Elena in Season 1, except to antagonize Stefan. He only really turns his interest on her when he loses hope of Katherine, essentially transferring his obsession.
Delena fans often say that Damon loved Elena for herself while Stefan only loved her as a human, but I disagree. Elena was most as herself as human, but once she got caught up in Damon, she began to become like Katherine. He essentially turned her into Katherine when he couldn't have Katherine.
We see repeatedly that Elena chose Stefan over Damon when she had the choice. Damon and Elena have some nice moments, but it was clearly platonic/boyfriend's brother vibes. She cared for him because Stefan did. They only get closer when Stefan is forced to leave town and Damon does everything in his power to turn Elena away from Stefan. But even after that, she was still choosing Stefan.
The sirebond was the nail in the coffin for Delena in my opinion. I may have been able to get past some things if they hadn't done that. Elena never wanted to be a vampire. She says this so many times and even talks about wanting to die rather than being a vampire. Stefan shows Elena the positives of vampirism, but somehow Damon gets credit for it because of the Whitmore House scene. I think people forget the scene immediately after she runs off the dance floor, when she disgusted by what she's done. Between the thrill of the moment and the sirebond, she acts in a way that she never wanted to and regrets it instantly. Damon showed her the parts of vampirism she feared, but because the scene is sexy people love it.
And this isn't the first time we see Damon not having respect for Elena's decisions. When he forced blood down her throat before the ceremony. Or when he yells over the phone that they shouldn't listen to her about Elijah. When he kills Aaron because 'she' broke up with him. This never gets better. The only character development we really see in Damon is when he becomes friends with Bonnie. No, I don't think it is a girlfriend's job to 'fix' their boyfriend, but they should at least bring out a good side of them. Delena brought out the worst sides in each other.
I'm honestly not even advocating for Stelena. If anything, I think Matt and Elena could have had a nice life together. Or just be a normal girl and go meet someone in college or later in life. Damon didn't want the normal human life and Elena didn't want the violent vampire life. They have so little in common, not even their morals or principals. I just found them to be a really unbelievable couple. The flirtation was more interesting to me than anything that happened after they got together.
************
My TO opinion: Kol is kind of a one-dimensional character and benefits very heavily from pretty-privilege. (Again, no need to read if this will just upset you)
Tumblr media
I am talking about Nate, but I refuse to put his face on my page. But I will try and put my hate of him aside to talk about Kol.
Kol could have been a really interesting character if he was given more time and more backstory, but the show just didn't go there and left so much up to the audience to fill in the blanks.
We first meet Kol in TVD and he essentially is the Mikaelson psychotic "enforcer." He is wild and unruly, doing whatever he wants. Like targeting Matt for no reason at the Mikaelson ball when even Klaus was on his best behavior. I really feel like they made Kol the way they did to make Klaus look like the sane, practical one since Klaus was quickly becoming a fan favorite.
The storyline with the Cure was interesting, but we don't really get a lot of the backstory of how Kol knew what he knew. I would have loved some flashbacks with Kol and the witches that he supposedly learned this from. But as interesting as this storyline was, it did little to flesh out Kol as a character. He spent most of his time just trying to kill everyone to prevent Silas from being released. It would have been more impactful if they had given Kol a bigger motivation. Explained his backstory with Silas more. I left TVD not really caring if Kol came back. We got one little sad story right before he died about Klaus unfairly daggering him, but really after seeing how unhinged he was in TVD, I kind of didn't care that he was daggered. I felt worse for Finn who seemed relatively harmless.
I didn't mind Kol as a witch too much, but again, felt his character was little more than a charming rake. We knew he was only flirting with Davina initially for his mother, and I even buy his quick infatuation with her since we know he likes powerful witches, but his betrayal of Rebekah just felt impulsive and dumb. It took away from the genius witch they were trying to create. Sure he learned a lot of tricks with the dark objects from witches, but then he imprisoned his sister in an instable witch he did zero research on while his family was still in danger. It felt like he was less of a developed character and more of a plot device.
Similar to Damon, I just didn't feel like his backstory was enough to make me sympathetic. I know we are told he was daggered a lot, but we are also told that he was off on his own a lot. In the 11th century we know Kol had gone off on his own and then for much of the middle centuries he is exploring and meeting witches. The few times we see him in flashbacks, he is covered in blood, smiling at the death he created. I know people say he went off the deep end because of his loss of magic, but the show should have done a better job fleshing that story out. Really go into his spiral, because it happened very quickly. Kol was the only one reveling in killing in 1001, a year after they became vampires. This is also our first encounter with Kol as we don't see him during their human flashbacks. The only daggering we really see that felt unjust was in the 1900s when he was attempting to turn the witches against Klaus and create a weapon. But that also felt out of place in how Rebekah betrayed him but then wanted to do the same a mere year later.
The back and forth with his family also annoyed me. One moment he was building a weapon to put Klaus down and the next he was hugging him, just wanting to be a part of 'always and forever.' I understand why Davina was so annoyed by it. They attempted to garner sympathy for Kol based on how he was not part of 'always and forever' but he never really seemed to want to be. Every chance he had to leave them, he did. I don't blame him, but he can't be mad for not being included when he was always leaving. Even in 1001, Kol was the first one to suggest they split up. He and Finn left immediately after being turned and leaving Klaus, Elijah, and Rebekah to clean up the mess their family made. This tracked through their 1000 years. He even parties with Klaus multiple times after being undaggered, holding it against Rebekah more than anyone. He never seemed to care for any of his siblings outside of Klaus and yet Klaus was the one harming him the most.
Like most of the characters honestly, if Kol had been played by a less attractive or charismatic person, he would have been despicable and annoying at times. I will own that he has moments of character growth in the later seasons of TO, but they all felt like they came out of nowhere since they appeared to happen off camera. Even his relationship with Hope felt strange in Season 5 when he hardly even acknowledged his niece in the previous seasons except to use her to save Davina. His character, to me, felt like it was constantly changing to fit whatever role they needed him to play so he became less of a character and more of a plot device making it hard for me to connect with him or truly understand his underlying character.
******
Again, don't hate me if you disagree. These are just some unpopular opinions I don't think I've talked about on here.

Faceclaim: Jace Norman
Tumblr media
Henrik is the second son and third child of Klaus Mikaelson and Caroline Forbes

He is a year younger than Hope and tries to keep all three parts of himself in check
He spends time with his aunt Freya and Davina and Uncle Kol a lot since they have a lot of knowledge about the witch side of their family
He loves his family and his siblings
Like Hope, he also feels a bit different, but he also knows his family will be there for him no matter what
He is pretty serious and is the strategist in the family. He plans the alliances and makes sure that when his cousins and siblings take over, they don't make any more enemies than they already inherited from their parents
He also gets along well with the Saltzman twins and loves geeking out on magic with them and the Bennett sisters
His wolf fur is dirty blonde and darker than both his older brother and sister

Despite being the youngest, she can be very intimidating since she takes after both her parents but has her mother's intelligence and nose for drama
Her wolf form is platinum blonde, almost white

Bonnie, The Bennett’s, Black Witches and The Magical Negro Trope & Mammy Trope - TVD META
Tumblr media
Bonnie and the Bennett’s have very rich lore. It’s not glorified by the fandom unless it’s by Bonnie fans themselves. That’s the way it’s always been, no one paying any mind or deeper thought to Bonnie/and the Bennett’s outside of her fans. This isn't a new thing but I want to highlight this once again because I don’t think fans understand there is more than one negative trope rooted in Bonnie, the Bennett’s and black witches only.
Before we get into anything heavy let’s have some key-terms here: Let’s define a magical negro trope: where a black character appears in a plot solely to help a white character and then vanishes. Now what a mammy is: a black woman engaged to take care of white children or as a servant to a white family.
Everything in the series can be tied back to a Bennett witch. Let’s list a few things the immortality spell, immortals, the other side, the cure, supernatural hunters, creating rings to preserve life, the Gilbert device but only a Bennett witch can enchant it, prison worlds, the traveler's curse, vampires, hybrids etc…You name it without the Bennett’s creation there would be nothing. You would think because of this the Bennett’s would be respected in the narrative and by fans. Wrong. Some of these women aren’t even given actual names. Everyone can have a Bennett witch at their disposal but they won’t be respected either. Bennett blood is essential to certain spells. A loophole.
Tumblr media
Let’s talk about Ayana. The Mikaelson’s were only able to become vampires because Esther stole Ayana’s spell. It is forgotten that Esther/Mikael begged Ayana to perform the spell first. The Mikaelson’s as humans trusted Ayana. Rebekah was in shock that a necklace from Ayana burned her. While Ayana remained unnamed this time while the story was told. Rebekah was talking about Ayana. Ayana was known as a healer and given Esther’s praises they were close. The series doesn’t show us why Ayana should value the Mikaelson’s but we do understand why Esther, her husband and children valued her. That infamous necklace that Rebekah loved belonged to Ayana. We don’t know about Ayana’s life outside of being a healer. We don’t know her marital status, how many children she could’ve possibly had and anything tied to her after the plot has used her up. One would think with how close Ayana was to the Mikaelson’s, they’d have some respect or acknowledge Bonnie but that never happens.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
We see this in how Emily was enslaved to Katherine. Julie may have labeled Emily a handmaiden but we knew what that meant. Emily only had one request from Damon that he watch and protect the Bennett line which he never did. The black witches never ask much of anyone in the plot or ever given the chance too. Yet when a request is made no one ever meets said request for them. This form of slavery repeats again through Lucy. She claimed Katherine saved her life therefore she is indebted to her for however long she needs. Sheila has her hand in aiding the Gemini Coven, Beatrice helped with the Sirens.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
There are other witches that are black who serve a purpose to aid in many and leave such as: Gloria, The Martin’s, Bree, Aja and her coven just to name a few. Friends of the main characters or enemies but quickly there and dropped. Originally due to all witches appearing Black fans believed they were all Bennett’s. Julie has no answer for why all witches that is until they weren’t. Remember witches were servants of nature. The Mikaelson’s popularity, Gemini Coven and other witches. Fills the space that Black witches were once in. Notice a pattern here?
Tumblr media
Qetsiyah’s plot line should’ve centered on how she created immortality, the cure, and the other side. But Qetsiyah’s existence revolves around demanding and enforcing continuous revenge on Silas and Amara. Tying her into another repeated love triangle in the franchise. May I add that she and Bonnie are the only women to have been betrayed by a partner and criticized for their reactions. There’s nothing wrong when a man wants and craves power but Qetsiyah is considered the worst of them all. Here’s an amazing video that details Qetsiyah’s writing too. Please review.
Tumblr media
Lastly, The Bonnie of it all:
Bonnie’s a loyal, powerful and brave woman. She doesn’t let anything happen to her friends if she can stop it. She cares for them. That kind of loyalty can be beautiful but equally harmful when Bonnie has no regard to her own feelings. She continues to give for everyone and her friends rarely return the favor. Bonnie’s never thanked or rewarded for being there. The friendships stop being equal very early. Her traumas aren’t valuable in the plot. We don’t know what Bonnie’s home looked like. If Bonnie does grieve it isn’t shown on screen. Her family life is limited, while Liz and Alaric aren’t main characters. They have their own plotlines. It is revealed that Abby’s reasonings for abandoning her is for Elena’s benefit. Abby is killed in a coin toss and transitioned. Caroline gets to have a good friend moment while Bonnie isn’t have any feelings towards her mother for abandoning her after. Rudy isn’t seen in the plot longterm and when he appears in season 5 he’s killed in front of Bonnie. She grieves this in silence while grieving her own death that she didn’t make aware to her friends to avoid inconveniencing them. The plot makes it clear if the white counterparts aren’t happy then Bonnie will never either. Elena, Caroline got happier endings while Bonnie’s job was completed. Bonnie never once got to call out how her friends can disregard her, she feeds into them and they grow while sucking the life out of her. In the end, Bonnie went back to Africa. Never any reference to her life from there.
Another thing Bonnie isn’t shown to be feminine. Her best friends go on dates, go to dances, dress up and receive compliments. Caroline or Elena has ever given Bonnie a compliment that aided in her beauty. We don’t know Bonnie’s ambitions or fears. But you are aware when Bonnie wants to save her best friend. Thoughts on Bonnie’s relationships and ships is for the next meta though.
White witches did follow the servitude of others. They were still given the privilege of agency that black witches were never going to have. Witches like Dahlia existed, and although she had one goal she had more personality than others.
Tumblr media
When you have people like the TVD writers that continue to push harmful stereotypes there’s always going to fans who listen and continue to perpetuate those stereotypes. The writers had no value for Black women nor do the fans. They don’t care about how black women or people of color are treated in fiction or the media simply because their favorites get to reap all the benefits. That tweet is just one tip of the iceberg, there’s plenty more from Bonnie’s relationships, and storylines.

something that sticks out to me about carolena and is one of the reasons why i don't ever like the ship much is because it feels like caroline is a bit resentful towards elena and acts as a mouthpiece for the audience that doesn't like elena. like that part where she's like "liam is performing surgery on sarah and you found a way to make this about you?"
i'm biased i guess because elena is my favorite character in tvd, so take my opinion with a grain of salt, but i never found her to be selfish like the audience started saying over the years. the only time it felt that way to me was the scene where she and damon were arguing about their relationship while they were in the prison world with a limited amount of time to get bonnie out. they should've been driving to meet bonnie halfway, but instead elena was trying to more or less flirt with damon. but there's a lot of things about delena that i don't like, because the ship usually results in choices/scenes like that where the show is almost entirely about delena to the point it sacrifices characterization of other characters. to me i think that was ooc of elena and a result of poor writing that started going downhill when delena became canon
but earlier in the show, she was always trying to die for her loved ones, prevent them from having to make hard decisions... she stabbed herself and slit her throat while she was still a human and felt human pain just to outsmart original vampires for the purpose of keeping her loved ones safe
so i just never thought she was selfish besides that one scene in the prison world that frustrated me. but it felt like caroline thought that about elena, just like the audience, and it was always unfair to me because caroline is maybe the last person who should be judging someone for centering themselves to begin with… 😭 she had a real issue (like it was one of her canonical character flaws) with being frivolous and self centered. she grew and by the end of the show she was a generous person and a very kind mother. but i just wasn't a big fan of her interactions with elena
the part in season 6 where elena is trying so hard to party with caroline and cheer her up but caroline just tells her everyone is gone (i.e, stefan is gone because he was out of town and ignoring caroline’s calls because damon died) and elena goes “but i’m still here, care 🙁” but then caroline says she knows and walks off anyway always made me sad
