Help! I'm getting massive ick from Stefan this rewatch. Him stalking Elena, wearing sunglasses in the school, asking Elena about her trauma despite knowing it already. This is going to ruin any nostalgia that allowed me to ignore all of the problems with stelena
Damon is just a creep
I'm going to be team Matt by the end of this rewatch
Bonnie is just the best friend to everyone. And the only one with any sense. I will also never hate season 1 Caroline. She was so insecure but also very aware of her faults.
Jenna and Cami would have been best friends.
#why am i doing this#i've had to mute the show so many times#to avoid second hand embarrassment#i should have just started in season 2#2x08 to be exact#for reasons#tvdu#andrea831 metas rewatch

Hi! Idk if you've written about them before so feel free to ignore this if so but I was wondering about your opinions on Aurora & Rebekah? I haven't watched TO in a little while, so I may be misremembering some parts, but when Elijah tells Rebekah that she 'damned Aurora to eternity', I kinda never got that? Cause like, in the flashbacks, I got the vibe that they were quite close friends, and then in the future, technically all Aurora is trying to do is keep Rebekah safe (albeit through keeping her at the bottom of the ocean). I wish we'd got to see them interact more in the present! ALSO, Rebekah didn't mean to turn her into a vamp, that was entirely Aurora's doing!! Obvi Rebekah was annoyed about being held underwater, but I lowkey got the feeling that Aurora was still quite fond of her. Thoughts? 🩷
I actually don't think I've talked about their dynamic before.
Their dynamic, like most of Rebekah's, is really hurt by the fact that Claire Holt just wasn't in much of the show. We get the vibes that they were close but don't get to see much of it (similar to haybekah). A lot of the work is put on the audience to fill in the blanks.
But, I think, what Elijah meant by Rebekah "damned Aurora to eternity" is less about Rebekah and Aurora's relationship and more about Elijah's view of vampirism. He doesn't view immortality like Klaus does. He doesn't want to live forever and views it as a curse. Outside of the Strix (which Elijah says he regrets creating) we don't see Elijah turn a lot of people. He doesn't view it as a gift. It was less about the women and more about him projecting his own anger at his damnation than anyone else.
I also struggle with whether or not Rebekah and Aurora are actually close. In the scene where they are under the tree, it seems like a friendly moment, however Aurora is constantly looking back at Klaus. To me, it felt like she was there more for Klaus than Rebekah. And then when Aurora tricks Rebekah into turning her. It wasn't about Rebekah wanting a life long friend or Aurora wanting to be in Rebekah's sire line. Rather, Aurora wanted to spend eternity with Klaus and be strong enough to be with him, but knew Klaus wouldn't turn her. It's also possible Elijah doesn't know what exactly happened to lead to Aurora turning. He was there for that and Rebekah may have chosen not to reveal that she was tricked.
I think their relationship is really shown with how Aurora keeps Rebekah "safe" in present day. She drowns her in the ocean, something she tries to kill her brother to save him from experiencing. She also chuckles about it, laying in bed with Klaus. It was never about Rebekah, but about Klaus.
I do wish we could have seen them interact more in the present (do they even interact at all on screen??). But I think Rebekah was more than just a little annoyed. She was so close to finding a way to bring her brother back, she was attacked, taken captive, daggered, and drowned over and over again. Not to mention, when she woke up she was cursed and required to be daggered again. Now, this is partly Aya and the Strix, but Aurora was working with them. Aurora wouldn't have done the same to Klaus, even if it meant protecting her family (I know she didn't really care about Lucien). Aurora even makes condescending comments about how "the silly dear" can't be trusted to keep herself safe.
I do think a lot of how she views other women is because of her influences. Tristan was terrible to her and often condescending to Aurora, not trusting her to take care of herself. I do think this colors how she views Rebekah. We don't see Klaus or Elijah treated with such condescension.
I think any fond feelings faded for both of them hundreds of years ago.
Thanks for the ask!

Have you read ACOTAR?
Yes, I have!
I will say I read ACOTAR and TOG before I knew SJM is a Zionist. So I will not read any of the new books, but I read ACOTAR all the way through to Silver Flames. I honestly should have known she was a Zionist based on a lot of the plot...
You may be surprised to learn that I have a lot of controversial opinions on that series too. To the point that my friend won't discuss the series with me because we both get too heated. (She also loves Damon)
You're welcome to ask my opinions on those books as well, but I haven't reread them in a long time, so I may not bee as thorough as I am with TVDU.

What languages do you think the Mikaelsons can speak?
So many.
A lot of this discussion is about to be based on headcanons. I will try to point this out every time.
They would have all grown up speaking Old Norse. The village they grew up in was very white for a land that had not been colonized by white people yet, so I have to believe it was a settlement of Norsemen. I like to think they also learned the language of the indigenous people who lived near them. This is a bit of a HC, but based on how they spoke about living at peace with them, I can see it. Either that or they forced the indigenous people to learn Old Norse, which I can also see.
Freya would have also grown up speaking Old Norse with Dahlia.
They then travel to France, where I imagine they learn French since they communicate with Lucien and the rest of the court easily. Especially since Old Norse would not have made them many friends in Europe at this time. I would also like to point out, despite them speaking English on the show, they would not have learned or even heard English at this point. Potentially they ended up in England first, since they could have been in Europe for about a year before running into Lucien, but it would make more sense for them to have ended up in Spain and traveling up since we know they end up in Southern France. So maybe they learned Spanish then too.
After this, they settle in Tuscany, so likely learned Italian. They were in Italy for a long time. I feel confident this is a language they would all remember just for how long they used it.
The show doesn't tell us where they go next, but we know they meet Aya not long after. Based on their clothes and Aya's name, I would guess they are in an Arabic country (somewhere in present day "Middle East"), so they would have learned Arabic as well.
At some point during the 1200s, Elijah, at least, ends up in the Mongolian Empire and recruits Shen Min to the Strix. This could be so many different places since the Mongolian Empire was quite expansive. They were already in the "Middle East," so they may not have fully traveled all the way to present day China, but I would think Elijah could have at least spoken to Shen Min. Whether it was Arabic, or he learned Mongol.
We also can assume Klaus and Elijah spoke a variety of languages, as they created the Sun and Moon Curse and spread it throughout cultures. Elijah mentions Klaus' Aztec drawings, meaning they at least had an understanding of the language.
Elijah goes to Greece briefly to reunite with the Strix. He is there so briefly, I wouldn't be surprised if he didn't fully learn the languages. However, he does appear to be someone who picks up on languages quickly so he may have learned a good amount while trying to track down Aya.
The Originals finally settle in England, but there is a lot of missing time we don't know about. Likely while they were traveling spreading the news about the Curse. So we don't know what languages they learned in this time. But they finally, actually, learn English. We know Klaus at least knows a little Bulgarian as he responds to Katerina in her native language. And don't forget the trip Klaus makes to kill her whole family, he likely picked up some phrases on the way. It would make sense for them to go through Bulgaria, as they were traveling from the "Middle East" to England. HC, they likely went through Serbia or Romania, Hungary, Austria, Germany, than either Belgium or the Netherlands to get to England. Likely, picking up a little of the languages on the way.
After England, the family moves to Denmark so they likely learned Danish. Or at the time it was Middle Danish, which was derived from Old East Norse. I like to think at this point (nearly 500 years since they spoke their native tongue), they were forgetting how to speak it, but they loved Denmark since it revitalized their native language for them.
Around 1500s, Klaus ends up in Russia, just to kill people it looks like, so he probably did pick up some Slavic, but I fear he did not spend a lot of time speaking with the locals. We also have no idea if the rest of the family was with him.
We can assume Klaus met Gaspar Cortez in Malaysia since he is angry at the family for burning down Belaga, Sarawak and Klaus retaliates by killing his whole family. Since Klaus was there enjoying art, I would assume he learned the language enough to get around. It likely would have been Malay at the time. From Russia, to Malaysia, they likely would have spent a lot of time using their Arabic and learning Persian from the Mughals.
In 1702, they are back in Spain, they all definitely speak Spanish fluently. I would think they took a boat to Spain and likely didn't spend extended time in any area.
They flee Spain and end up in New Orleans for 200 years. I like to think they speak French and English in New Orleans, especially Elijah with Celeste.
After that, we know Klaus and Rebekah go to Chicago (still English), but we don't know where Elijah goes. Likely, he flees America to bring Mikael as far away as possible.
Elijah and Klaus reunite in Germany, so they likely both speak it. Elijah, at least enough to get by and talk to Antoinette. I also believe Elijah at some point learned Mandarin as he tells Antoinette to go to Shanghai, it appears he has been their recently.
And of course, Elijah does speak French fluently, which is shown by his time in France in Season 5. Also, Klaus speaks it fluently as well as he spent Season 5 stalking Elijah.
To some it all up:
Elijah and Klaus are likely fluent in: Old Norse, English, French, Spanish, Italian, Arabic, Mandarin (at least Elijah is), German, Middle Danish, Malay.
Elijah and Klaus likely can speak/understand: a couple indigenous languages, Mongol, Bulgarian, Slavic, possibly Hungarian and Austrian
I also think Elijah would have learned Latin at some point for "academic" purposes, but really just to say he can speak Latin.
Rebekah likely would have learned many of the same languages as her brothers. She was often daggered or not shown in flashbacks, but I think she was there for most of the travels, learning right alongside them.
Kol likely speaks many different languages because of his fascination with magic. Even if he didn't directly travel to the places, he likely learned additional languages to read the grimoires. He was also daggered a lot, but he was also traveling on his own a lot, which just don't really know where.
We don't know where Freya and Dahlia ended up, but I think they stayed in the Netherlands for a while and likely weren't exposed to a lot of languages. It's a bit of a HC, but I would think it would be very difficult to learn a different languages every time they woke up when they only had a year.
Finn would have come out of that coffin after 900 years, speaking Old Norse, French, Italian, or maybe Spanish. Maybe Sage was English and taught him when they met, but I'm also confused when they met since he was daggered so early on.
I also believe they've forgotten more languages than they remember since they've lived so long and likely don't use them on regular basis. A lot of the languages they used while traveling, likely they don't remember. Although they could probably pick them up quickly.
This also made me think of a conversation I just had about their accents. It makes no sense for them to have British accents. From what we can tell, they only lived there for maybe 50 years, 500 years before TVD begins. Even Katherine drops her British accent.
I think Elijah's accent makes the most sense. It's not quite anything. It kind of has an old feel but it's not British, it's not American. It's a result of him learning a lot of languages and a lot of accents throughout 1000 years.
I know the writers picked British accents since in America that's how media has decided to depict anything "old." But how would Finn have a British accent?? If anything it should be Italian since they spent so much time there before he was daggered for 900 years. He's never even been to England. The rest of them spent 200 years in New Orleans, why didn't they pick up an American accent?
But, as always, I digress.
Thanks for the ask! It really made me think. Let me know if I missed any languages they would have spoken.

In your opinion, what was each character’s best season? (Both TO and TVD characters)
This is so hard but I tried to do everyone I could think of:
Elijah Mikaelson - Season 2 of TVD and Season 2 of TO
It is a truth universally acknowledged, Elijah will own a Season 2. His entrance in TVD Season 2 was fantastic. I loved his mysterious vibe and was honestly more scared of his entry than Klaus. It's also when we learned about The Originals lore. It was just a great season, in large art due to Elijah. But TO Season 2 was also great. I loved seeing Elijah seem to have a life outside of Klaus. He bonded with Marcel, helped build a community with the vampires. His relationship with Gia was so great. We get some of his backstory through the red door. And he just looked great all season. Although I adore Season 1 TO Elijah and the softness we see in him, really for the first time, I needed him to stop obsessing over Klaus. He should have left with Rebekah.
Hayley Marshall - Season 3 TO

To me, Season 3 TO is really where Hayley finds herself. I love Season 1 Hayley because she was less jaded, but I had issues with some of her "girl boss" moments. Much like is Season 2, where she is still trying to find her place in the supernatural world. But Season 3, she really discovers who she is and what she wants to fight for. We see her start to set boundaries and stand up for herself. She becomes the leader that she was trying to be in the previous seasons. I also love moments we get in Season 4 and 5, but it was so rushed her development got lost in the chaos.
Stefan Salvatore - Season 3 TVD
I'm such a sucker for this storylines. The lengths Stefan goes to try and betray Klaus and fight the compulsion. We get to see a completely different version of Stefan with his humanity off. We get his backstory with Klaus. We watch him claw his way back to his humanity. This season really focused on Stefan and his struggles.
Damon Salvator - Season 1 or 6 TVD
Damon was a better character when he was just evil. We got his lore. We felt slightly bad for him. But at the end of the day, he was the evil vampire killing, SAing, destroying Mystic Falls. And he was good at it. But if we want to say best season, as in when he was at his best, it has to be Season 6 when he's stuck in the prison world with Bonnie. I've said it before, Damon was only ever able to be good when he was removed from any complications. He improved slightly with Bonnie's influence.
Klaus Mikaelson - Season 3 TVD or Season 3 TO
Unpopular opinion, but Klaus stayed on TVD far too long. Season 3 was great. He entered the show, terrorizing the town in Season 2, but we really got to see him thrive as the villain in Season 3 TVD. But then after that, it just felt odd for a incredibly powerful, thousand year old vampire to be hanging out with high schoolers in a small town. But Season 3, he had purpose and was comical achieving it. Season 3 of TO was the first time we really saw character development for Klaus. He realizes that he has caused a lot of problems for his family and seeks to change his ways. He sets his pride aside and is willing to sacrifice himself multiple times for family.
Rebekah Mikaelson - TO Season 1
I never minded the character shift between TVD and TO with Rebekah. I thought she was amusing in TVD, but ultimately wasn't a favorite of mine. But in TO Season 1, I loved that she was ready to fight for herself. Instead of just being the insecure, codependent sister, Rebekah is allowed to be devious and intelligent all in her own right. I think a later season would have topped this if Rebekah had been in the show more. I wanted to see this character growth continue, but we only got bits and pieces through TO.
Elena Gilbert - TVD Season 2
Elena for most of Season 1 was playing catch up, learning what everything was and who all the players were. But in Season 2, she is more settled and ready to fight back. I love the strength we see in her, but most of all, I love how she held onto her compassion. She was willing to sacrifice herself for her friends and family, but she did so wisely, making deals with the enemies to keep them safe. It was peek Elena, which we don't really get to see again after Season 2.
Bonnie Bennett - TVD Season 4
I love Season 2 Bonnie coming into her powers and going up against Katherine and The Originals, but she still very much felt like she was just acting in Elena's story. Season 4, to me, felt like she had her own storylines that were just as vital to the plot. We get to see more of her family dynamic. Bonnie is allowed to struggle and grow as a witch. They had to bring in Qetsiyah and Silas because she was growing so powerful. I also adore the early seasons of Bonnie, watching her learn her magic.
Cami O'Connell - TO Season 3

Season 3 was peak Cami. She was learning how to fill her uncle's foot steps by protecting the humans from the supernatural with Vincent's help. I even loved Cami's vampire era and wished it had lasted longer. Cami was constantly fighting for those around her, but Season 3 really gave her the ability to do it. She didn't let her fear hold her back until it literally killed her. And even after that, she clawed her way back to her humanity and died just as compassionate as she ever was.
Katherine Pierce - TVD Season 2
This should go without saying. TVD Season 2 was Katherine's best season. And like Klaus, she should have left the show earlier than she did. Her hanging around high schoolers, trying to make a man love her, really lessened her intimidation factor. Although I did enjoy her human era later on. But Season 2 was great. Her entrance was iconic (although I think that was technically the end of season 1). She had a goal and it made sense for her character based on survival.
Caroline Forbes - TVD Season 3
Season 3 for Caroline is where she finds herself. I love her in Season 2 when she is finding her strength, but her insecurities often get in her way. While in Season 3, we get to see her intelligence on top of it all. I also think Forwood was such a good character shift for Caroline. She had matured enough to help him through his own journey of the supernatural world. I wasn't a fan of them maturing her so much in the later seasons.
Marcel Gerard - TO Season 2
Season 1 Marcel was a little too much like Klaus for me. But Season 2, really found their mark with him. He didn't just want the city for power, but truly to build community. We got to see him as a leader and he was great at it. I liked him in the later seasons as well, but I liked in Season 2 that he wasn't a Mikaelson. He was better than them. It was his best season.
Davina Claire - Season 2

I liked Davina in Season 1, but Season 2 she was able to be more than just a Harvest Girl. She had her own motivations and goals outside of Marcel. And she was determined when it came to destroying the Mikaelsons. It really showed how powerful she was. I feel like a lot of her character gets a little lost in the later seasons as it tended to center around Kol and she lost her own identity a bit in that.
Enzo St. John - Season 8
Bonenzo is how I survived Season 8. His love for Bonnie was so great that he was able to fight against Sybil's mind control. I also love how we see his character growth really emphasized here. We see him grow a lot as a character in Season 6 and 7, but season 8 is where it all comes together. He is no longer anchored by his revenge or hatred, but his love. He is the best version of himself in season 8 and I loved it.
This is clearly not everyone, so let me know if there is anyone in particular you want me to talk about!

Can you make a post talking about Tristian and Aurora’s relationship?
TW: Mental Health/Mental Illness, bipolar disorder
Tristan and Aurora have a very similar relationship to Klaus and Rebekah. I talk about Klaus and Rebekah's dynamic here.
We don't know much about their childhood. But when we meet them they already have a toxic, co-dependent relationship. Their dad is a creep and a terrible person which Tristan seems to take after. Aurora is already suffering from poor mental health, likely Bipolar Disorder, as well as depression and low self-esteem tied to her mother dying in child birth. I always took this to mean that it was something being used against her, either by her father or brother, but likely both. Tristan was taught from a young age to weaponize Aurora's insecurities to control her.
Tristan was incredibly controlling over Aurora, dictating who she could be with. Even having Lucien killed when he thought they were together. This toxic relationship only got worse after they were turned. The show says they spent a 100 years thinking they were the Mikaelsons and that made Lucien, Aurora, and Tristan close, but we know it was never the three of them. It was always Aurora and Tristan with them manipulating/using Lucien.
We don't know about much of their lives either, but that Tristan would often force Aurora through excruciating "medical practices" in order to "cure" her episodes. When we first meet them in the present day, Aurora is being kept in a monastery while Tristan enacts their plan in New Orleans with the help of Lucien. This seems to be normal for her given her response to his letter that he has been delayed. She is used to being kept on the sidelines and forced away from her brother.
Tristan tends to underestimate Aurora. I think largely due to his misogyny, and then he uses her mental health as a means to keep her under his thumb. Aurora turned before Tristan, so she should theoretically be stronger than him. We also never see Tristan really training, rather leaving it to the soldiers surrounding him, both as a human and as a vampire. But Aurora, we do see her learn to fight. It's not her inability to escape from Tristan that keeps here there, but her devotion to him.
Tristan weaponizes her mental health to make her feel reliant on him. We see that in 3x09 when Tristan sedates Aurora saying she was having an "episode." In reality, she just went of script from his plan and he needed her out of the way. He was often condescending to Aurora as a means to make her feel incapable. But his devotion to his sister seems more on what she can do for him rather than love. I do think he loved her in his own way, but he also had no problem discarding her for his true love, power. The only time we really see him prioritize Aurora is when he trades Hayley for her life. I don't even think he would have traded the Serratura for her though. He came there ready to fight if the Mikaelsons demanded it. Willing to risk Aurora's life.
Aurora on the other hand would risk everything for her brother. She is willing to take on the Mikaelsons to rescue Tristan, even if it just means putting him out of his misery. It was never about power for her. Aurora's desire was to be loved and she mistook Tristan's possessiveness and control as love. He convinced her that if he wasn't around, she would be alone and unloved. So she tolerated his abuse in order to have that love. That's why Tristan was so fearful of her connection with Klaus or even Lucien. If she had a "safe love," she would be able to leave his toxic love. Not saying any of her options were truly safe.
They loved each other, but would have been better off going their separate ways early on.
Thanks for the ask!

To everyone wanting an update on my stories, I promise I am working on it! Feel free to keep asking, I honestly love that you all care so much. I will never get upset by people asking respectfully.
In case you haven't realized, I tend to fixate on things. It has been TVDU for so long it was almost shocking when it switched to Arcane over the past few months.
I am rewatching all of TVDU and TO to refocus. Who knows, I may even make it to Legacies this time.
So follow along on my journey as I attempt to reignite my fixation.

Who's Responsible for the Monster Klaus Became? (I'll give you a hint, it's Klaus)
It's a question as old as time (or at least as old as the show): Who should be blamed for Klaus' actions because surely it cannot be Klaus? Should it be Rebekah for wanting to seek her own life? Should it be Kol for planning to kill him? What about his son, Marcel, for taking his city? His parents for cursing him? I've heard all of these, but the most common one I hear is, of course, Elijah.
I'm referencing a specific discussion, but it's one I've heard many times. We should not feel any sympathy for Elijah because he is the reason Klaus became evil, and then abused everyone he ever encountered. Not only should we blame Elijah for Klaus turning evil, but we need to blame him for all of the abuse everyone suffered at Klaus' hands. Elijah is the true evil of the show, despite Klaus naming himself as such.
The argument starts as such: Klaus was a perfect person before Elijah helped Esther and Mikael suppress his wolf side which made him turn evil. We are conveniently going to skip over the SA on Tatia at the festival. He's just a product of the time, I guess. And then to top it off, while Klaus was being perfect (despite the catalyst event they claimed caused him to go evil had already occurred), Elijah vindictively made Aurora break his heart, turning him into the complete evil person he was. Although, we cannot call him evil. We have to continue to say, "no one is born evil, they are just broken." Removing all accountability from a thousand year old man.
However, there is a fatal flaw with this argument. If we are saying that betraying someone and breaking their heart shifts the responsibility from one character to another and removes any sympathy, this should first have been used to protect Elijah from any blame.
The entirety of The Originals originates with Klaus taking his kid brother to watch the wolves turn, despite knowing better. During this event, Henrik is killed. Now, I don't blame Klaus, but if we are blaming characters for all of the unforeseen consequences of their actions, we would have to blame him. Because of Henrik's death, Esther and Mikael turn their children into vampires. As we all know, Klaus kills someone, triggers his werewolf curse, and goes on a killing spree in their town, leaving Elijah to clean up the mess as he does. But that doesn't make Klaus evil, the murders were all an accident, I guess. Based on the lack of blood on Elijah's clothes, it doesn't seem like Elijah even took the time to feed himself (an assumption, but still). Leading to Elijah losing control and killing his love, Tatia. All of this happened in a short period of time. So when their abusive parents bring up the idea of binding Klaus' werewolf side, I don't blame Elijah for going along. Even still, we see that he does so reluctantly. He saw his brother's body, which had been torn apart by wolves, and then watched his brother turn into one of those wolves and kill people they grew up with. Even after all of this, he still stood by his brother's side, not from guilt, but out of love. He comforts his brother who is covered in the blood of their neighbors.
But this is really where the logic really falls apart. Sure, maybe we argue that binding the werewolf side sent him off the rails, but let's not forget the people he killed in his village before that happened. And I'm pretty sure hybrids can control their werewolf side...
Before we even get into Aurora breaking his heart, we see Klaus and Aurora killing in such savage ways (with the rest of the family, minus Finn), that Mikael has found them. We don't really know who was doing it, but we see Aurora and Klaus taking joy in it. Do you know how much chaos/savagery they must have caused for Mikael to have gotten word before modern technology?? They were on a completely different continent than when they first started running from him. So I'd argue that Klaus was already pretty evil at this point.
The other argument is that Elijah lied to Klaus and broke his heart because of Aurora, causing Klaus to spiral. But who lied and broke whose heart first? Elijah and Rebekah made a vow of "always and forever" to Klaus based on a lie and a huge deceit. That Mikael killed Esther. This to me is the moment Klaus loses touch with his humanity. He is so ashamed by what he's done, he lies to the people closest to him. At the end of the day, Esther was still their mother and Klaus killed her in cold blood. He is so traumatized by this, he puts her body in a coffin and carries her with him for centuries!! No matter what she did, he still feared his siblings would not forgive him. So he lied, causing them to run for their lives with him.
So again, who lied and broke whose heart first?
It is not until Elijah accidentally compels Aurora to tell him what she knows that Elijah finds out about the lie. And in his heartbreak he compels Aurora. His actions are spurred on by Klaus' betrayal. And now, don't get me wrong, I blame Elijah and believe Aurora has every right to be angry at Elijah for those actions. But if we are trying to use this logic I laid out above, Elijah shouldn't be held responsible because Klaus made him that way. Klaus lied and betrayed him, breaking his heart, so Elijah had no choice but to become evil and do evil things.
This is why this logic is bad. There can always be some event or person who "caused" a character to act that way. It's called their lore. But that does not erase who they are and what they do. It does not excuse it or shift the blame.
Klaus ruins countless lives after this, doing far worse than what was done to him, and we don't see those people turn evil. Rebekah is abused by him for a thousand years and doesn't come close. But according to Klaus stans, all of their pain is just a "side effect" of Klaus' actions and Klaus can't help that. It's not like he's a grown man or anything. People have trauma, but it doesn't mean they get to do whatever they want. They are still held responsible for the person that trauma turns them into.
Also this person tried to argue that Klaus' actions weren't responsible for Elijah because of intent. Klaus didn't do anything intending to hurt Elijah, whereas Elijah acted in every way to hurt Klaus and only stayed by him out of guilt. This is just a gross misrepresentation of both of their characters. Elijah regretted his actions so much that he literally erased them from his memory. And yes, I do think part of his toxic devotion comes from guilt, but even when his guilt has faded, he does not waver from his love of his brother. Klaus is the one that weaponizes the guilt anytime he thinks Elijah may choose a different path.
Honestly, I don't get how people enjoy TO with this logic. It ruins all of the complexity of stanning the villain or liking morally grey characters. If you want to love a villain, love a villain. Don't try to turn them into a defenseless teddy bear who can't be helped for his own actions.

Wait wait wait, you're deleting your accounts? Could I ask why?
Don't worry, just my Instagram accounts!
I am deleting all of my Meta accounts, both personal and here. The main reason is that I am not going to help support Zuckerberg as he attempts to create a monopoly on social media. He was one of the largest lobbyist spending millions of dollars to get tik tok banned in the US in order to control the media. This is a larger issue in the US as our government is trying to control the narrative, which they've been unable to do on Tik Tok. We have seen this especially with Palestine, but also with what is happening in our country. Meta censors their social media to benefit themselves/corporations. I haven't had Twitter (or X) since Musk bought it for these reasons as well.
But don't worry, I am still on Tik Tok, as of now. I'm hoping the rumors and assumptions that they are selling to Meta are false. But it's not looking good. I am also still going to be here, on A03, and Wattpad! So you can still reach out. I'm hoping I'll be able to continue to make edits and post on Tik Tok, but as of right now, I can't access Capcut because of the US ban so I won't be able to post until that is resolved. But I will be posting some of my old edits over on Red Note as well!
Thank you for following me and I promise I will not disappear without a way to still talk with you all!

To back up your opinion on Klaroline, I’ve noticed that most of the time, whenever a shipper talks about them, they say things like, “Klaus always put her first,” “Klaus would’ve given her the world,” “Klaus was willing to wait for her,” Klaus this, Klaus that, but never anything about Caroline or her feelings. And even if those things were true, it doesn’t mean Caroline has to give him a chance.
It just comes off as fans only want them together because it would make Klaus happy. And it’s not just them, a lot of the fans seem to cater the ships around the men and what they want/their feelings and not really caring about the women and their wants and feelings. (E.g. Delena, Stelena, etc)
Sorry, I didn’t mean to use this as a rant, lol, but this is just one of the many things that annoys me about the fandom.
You know you are always welcome to rant here. That's half of what I do. But I do really agree. So much of the conversations surrounding ships revolve around the men in them and what the ships do for them.
It's a big reason I hated Klaroline. I hated how the writers allowed the fans to dictate the writing. They were willing to destroy Caroline's character to prop Klaus up. All of their interactions in TO went directly against the Caroline they established in TVD. They did the same thing with Cami after she died, only mentioning her to tell Klaus what a "good guy" he was as he literally murdered people. How does Hope only know about Cami as Klaus' therapist when everyone in that town loved her?
I also have to comment on your quotes about Klaroline because I hear them everywhere and I just have to laugh. He never once put her first. He wouldn't even not stalk her boyfriend for Caroline. And he most certainly didn't wait for her. He was sleeping with Hayley while they were still in the same town. He was terrible to her and actively abused her. Why do people want her with that?
I also hate when people in the fandom get mad at characters for not giving their abusers a chance. I see this with Caroline a lot. People get mad at her anger against Klaus and Damon. Especially with Klaus, people just want her to give him a chance because he likes her, ignoring the pain he caused her. We see that with Delena. People got so angry at Elena in the early seasons for not giving Damon a chance when he was actively pursuing his brother's girlfriend and SAing her.
Like you said, we see it with Delena/Stelena as well. I'm sorry, but the writers completely rewrote Elena to make her fit with Damon and allow him to continue being him without changing at all. But the fans will also ignore how Stefan caused a lot of the upheaval in Elena's life.
I even ranted about it on tik tok like a year ago, how some Elijah stans will hate on Hayley for not being more supportive of him at certain times but completely ignore the trauma she is going through. Same with Jayley stans who get mad at her for having complex emotions and "leading him on" when she was always honest with him and going through more trauma than any person should. To some people, the men are the only ones that are allowed to have complex emotions.
Kolvina are only together very briefly and he lies to her, manipulates her, chooses his family over her, and kills her. Davina was going through it because of Kol but people love that he was willing to "change" for her. She made him a better person.
I could seriously do this with every ship in this show because they all center around the men and what the women could do for them. I do think part of this is that "self-insert" idea that the writers created the show so teenage girls could insert themselves in every character. It didn't matter their personality or interests because they wanted people to see themselves in the characters and see themselves with the men.
Sorry, now I've turned my answer into a rant.
Also, so people don't get mad at me: Nowhere in this am I saying you can't like these ships. Like whoever you want. These are issues I, and others in the fandom, have we these ships and the writing of the show.
But thank you for the ask and backing up my opinion! Always appreciated <3

I know you’re not into TVD/TO crossed ships, but like… Jenna and Elijah had something, okay? Maybe it was just Elijah being all charming and lowkey trying to annoy Damon and Alaric, but still—they were kinda cute!!! In a weird, “this probably shouldn’t work but it does” way yk ???
Idk do u have any thoughts on these two ?
I first just want to say that I LOVE Jenna. She will always hold such a special place to me.
I definitely think they were flirting and Elijah was only partly doing it to annoy Alaric and Damon. I mean why wouldn't he be into her? She's incredible. And at least she is more age appropriate than the literal high schoolers.
I think they could have been something temporary in a completely different world. One where Elijah wasn't the super morally corrupt person we see in TVDU. Maybe an amnesia Elijah and Jenna could have something. She's similar to women we see him interested in throughout the show. She's intelligent, family-oriented, badass, and sarcastic.
The issue we might run into is how morally questionable Elijah is. My initial instinct was to say Jenna has a clear, black and white moral view of the world. She is one of the few people that finds it strange that "24 year old" Damon is hanging around teenagers. But she also says some questionable things, especially about her party days that make me believe she understands the world is a little more complicated. Maybe if she had been given more time in the supernatural world, we could have seen a more of her complex morality. We know she would do anything for her family. She sacrifices herself for Elena without hesitating, even willing to kill the witch, Greta, in order to save her niece.
I've talked about it the other day, but Elijah tends to need people around him that can live in the grey. People who understand the meaning of doing anything for family, even if it seems horrible. Because at the end of the day, he's never going to be "fixed" of that. We see bits of that in Jenna near the end.
So then we run into my normal problem with TVD/TO cross over. She is willing to do anything for her family and he is willing to do anything for his family. Families which often find themselves on opposing teams. In a world where Klaus is killed, Elena would be to. I don't see Jenna hooking up with the man who had a hand in that. In a world where Jenna wasn't used as the vampire, Klaus survives, Elena survives, Elijah is firmly on Klaus' side who still wants to use Jenna's niece as a blood bag. Again, she would not cross that line.
I also don't think their desires would line up super well. We don't really know what Jenna wants out of her life. Her life was put on hold when she took over caring for her niece and nephew, but I always got the impression she didn't want that. I assumed she wanted to go live her life, party a bit more, finish college, not settle down with kids and a husband. Even Elijah without his memories isn't exactly a partier. He loves that lowkey, quiet life style. I could see them running into each other if they had never come in contact, having a brief, fun fling. But it wouldn't lead to much more.
But I'll always enjoy their flirty banter! I definitely agree with the "it probably shouldn't work but it does." Like not long term, but I can see something there.
Thanks for the ask! <3

I understand you have your favorite characters and preferred ships, but you don't need to tear down characters and ships you dislike to uplift the ones you do like. People can like their Klaus ships, just the same way you like your Elijah ships. And it's even to create fantasy ships for fanfic purposes. Fanfic isn't real anyway, so it's not that serious. It's all just in good fun. And as for your point about Klaus and Genevieve, it's okay for Klaus to have some fun too and for women to be interested in him too. Klaus and Genevieve were both consenting adults, it wasn't even a serious relationship, so I don't see the problem with it. You make it sound as if women who show interest in Klaus and not Elijah are any lessee than those who are interested in Elijah. Not everything revolves around Elijah, not everyone had to be pining over him only. He's not the only one allowed to have sexy time. I'm just saying.
I say this with all due respect, if my post about my least favorite ships upset you, you may need to take a step back from fandoms or just tumblr specifically.
When we are in fandoms, it's important to protect our own peace, so block tags you don't want to see or avoid reading posts that may trigger you. I was specifically asked what my least favorite ships are. I tagged it correctly and emphasized it was my opinion multiple times. It doesn't need to affect you or your opinions/favorites. If you disagree, that's absolutely fine. It does not impact my opinions, just like my opinions shouldn't impact you. Fandoms are fun and we can have great discourse but this response isn't it.
I'm not sure if you are a regular follower and just having a rough day and this set you off or if you are new and went through my blog, either way, you've read my posts and know that I always answer truthfully and try to stay as consistently as possible. Yes, I have biases and welcome people to call me out on them. However, I don't believe that's what's happening here. But I'll still address your concerns.
First, I never tore down any characters in that post. Rather I addressed why I didn't like the ships. Critiquing a character/ships is not the same as tearing them down. Art is meant to be critiqued. Second, I did not use that post to uplift any of my ships I like. I personally think you should be able to like characters/ships without having to discuss others. I often avoid talking about characters/ships I don't like because it brings discourse like this and I don't prefer it. But again, I answered an ask. I also never said you can't like a Klaus ship. Klamille is a top 5 ship for me. But I won't apologize for not liking his other, more abusive ships. You can like them all you want, but just because you do, it doesn't mean I need to. Yes, Klaus and Genevieve are consenting adults, I never claimed they weren't. That is the least of their problems. The problem lies in the fact that she was plotting against his family, specifically plotting to murder his unborn child. Especially considering Klaus has always made Rebekah feel bad for her choice in men when he is actively inviting their enemy into their home.
And finally, I get you were upset by my post but this idea that I don't like these ships because they don't revolve around Elijah is a little absurd. I even mention an Elijah ship I don't like. There are actually several that I've discussed. I don't like this idea that every character has to be obsessed with one character. It doesn't make sense for the specific characters and makes a boring story. Again, Cami is one of my top favorite women in the show which negates a lot of the points you made.
I'm sorry you go so upset by that post. Tumblr should be a fun place where you engage with material that makes the fandoms exciting. If you have any more concerns, I welcome you to reach out. Hopefully in a less hostile tone next time.
Hope you have a great new year!

Do you think Klaus had sexual fantasies about Rebekah? We saw how he killed all of her lovers to “protect” her and they also come from a time where incest and “preserving your family” were not taboo topics. They’re also 1000 year old monsters who kill and eat people, so I don’t get why they would conform to human standards.
I'm going to say no to this.
While I do think they had a creepy relationship with a lot of weird, even sexual undertones, I think it was more subconscious than anything. Klaus was emotionally stunted and often had trouble identifying his own emotions. He loved Rebekah and didn't want to lose her. To him, love is love. Like a child, he has trouble with the complexity of emotions. He sees his sister loving someone else and he gets jealous. Not sexually. But jealous none the less. He kills her lovers not because he wants to be with her but because he doesn't want her to leave him. He does the same with Elijah's lovers.
I also did some research and I can't really find an answer whether or not incest was accepted in Norse culture. It seems like no. While it does occur in their mythology, it seems to come with negative consequences. I found one blog post saying immediate family was not acceptable but extended family relationships were practiced. This does kind of fit in with why they are okay with the Marcel/Rebekah and Davina/Kol relationship dynamics.
While the Mikaelsons don't conform to human standards, they do have certain moral standards. We don't see anything that suggests they have had past relationships amongst themselves. I don't know if this is because they are opposed to it or simply because they don't practice it, but I think they would be opposed to it. They've lived most of their lifetimes in areas/periods where that wouldn't be accepted. It's likely that, even if they were once okay with it, they've grown away from the practice.
Thanks for the ask!

I’ll always wish we had more of Henrik in TVD and TO. His death was such a pivotal event for the Mikaelson family—so devastating that it drove their parents to perform the ritual that turned them into the first vampires. That single moment shaped everything about their lives, yet it feels like Henrik has been completely erased from their story.
The most baffling part is that no one ever talks about him. Ever. It’s like he’s a taboo subject, which makes no sense considering how much his death impacted them all, especially Klaus. When I first watched TVD, I was surprised by the lack of mention, though I understood—there was already so much happening. But then in TO ? Still nothing. Not a word about who Henrik was, what he was like, or even the memories they might have had of him. It’s as if he never existed, which is wild considering he’s the reason their lives turned out the way they did.
Klaus, of all people, should’ve talked about him. His death was a huge part of Klaus’s trauma, yet during his therapy sessions with Cami, it’s never brought up. Why? That would’ve been such a natural and emotional moment to explore, but it’s just ignored. Worse, I don’t even think Hope knows about Henrik, her uncle. How does that make sense? This isn’t just a missed opportunity—it’s bad writing. Henrik was the catalyst for their transformation into vampires and everything that followed, yet the show treats him like an afterthought.
Even Freya, who wasn’t there when Henrik died, might not know about him. Maybe Elijah or Rebekah told her off-screen, but we’re never shown that. There’s so much lost potential here. They could’ve done so much with Henrik, even if it was just through memories or flashbacks. Maybe they could’ve brought him back somehow. Idk, but it would’ve been so interesting… :/
It’s frustrating because his death is such a fundamental part of their mythology, yet the show seems to forget about it entirely. Henrik deserved more than just being the unnamed tragedy that changed everything. It bugs me to no end that the writers didn’t explore this.
I see both sides of this.
To us, the audience, it is a pivotal piece of the Mikaelsons lore, but to them, it happened over 1,000 years ago. They've lived ten lifetimes since they lost their kid brother. They mention him when they mention their childhood, but they don't talk about that a lot. I can imagine they probably don't remember a lot of it. Not only was it a long time ago, but it was a childhood filled with trauma. Children who experience abuse often have times remembering their childhood. We know they do remember parts of it and remember Henrik, but it's likely difficult to recall a lot of it. It's also still painful to think back to that time. They were the happiest when they were human and then they lost their brother and their humanity one after the other.
I also think Klaus would be the least likely to bring up Henrik out of all of his siblings. Especially in "therapy." He never used his sessions with Cami as therapy, rather "writing his memoir." He framed himself in a way that he was always in the right. Even when he discussed his terrible crimes, he had excuses. But his actions with Henrik, he is why Henrik was killed. I'm not blaming him. He was young and made a mistake, but he can't spin that. Talking about Henrik's death would make him the reason the next 1,000 years happened. He can't blame Esther and Mikael for binding his werewolf side, he can't blame Elijah for compelling Aurora, he can't blame Mikael for hunting them. It was his actions that started the domino effect that led him to become the monster he tries to pretend he didn't create.
I think it's natural for the writers to not focus on Henrik since it wouldn't add to the story. We already got enough of the lore to understand the impact Henrik had on the family, the show wasn't going to waste time talking about him, even if it would feel organic for the family to talk about him.
I could see Elijah struggling to talk about him because he felt responsible. He likely felt he should have made sure Henrik and Klaus were safe before the full moon. I think it would be hard because he likely helped raise Henrik. He was old enough to remember Henrik's whole life. I hc, that Henrik was the closest thing to a son Elijah ever got. Elijah also struggles to talk about emotional topics. He wouldn't bring up the topic unless prompted.
Rebekah I could see talking about him. Especially to Freya. I would think Freya would ask her siblings about their lives and Rebekah would make sure to tell her about Henrik. Kol may add a story or two but he wasn't one to dwell on the past. Or to sit down and share family stories.
The fandom really likes the idea of Henrik and where the story could have gone, but I understand why the writers didn't go any deeper. It didn't add anything to the plot. Unless they were going to bring him back somehow, we didn't need to know more. I wish we had a lot more of their childhood, and just flashbacks in general, but the show only had so much time.
I wouldn't want them to bring Henrik back because I think it would be clunky. He would be a child and that would just be a mess. I like to think he was at peace that whole time and not stuck in some other plane for a thousand years. He was just a kid, he deserved to rest.
Thanks for the ask!
