The way the writers retconned Silas being the creator of the immortality spell failed hilariously.
Clearly, she was the better witch of the two, using traditional magic btw to steal her spell for him and Amara.
Hell, witch!Silas even used the Solar boundary spell she taught him to trap her and Sefan in the cabin.
Only thing I can attribute to him is him teaching Bonnie Expression, but I wonder if he’s actually used it himself (because it is the most powerful form of witchraft using only your will) during his time or if someone else he knew.

so theoretically what and how was yall expecting Qetsiyah to act after both Amara and Silas betrayed her? They intended to use HER MAGIC and still had an affair. She still deserved a storyline outside of Silas/Amara / doppelgänger s t e l e n a crumbs but lol. Team up with Amara? What is she offering Qetsiyah exactly?
It wouldn’t have been hard to write her a storyline for her outside of a love triangle but alas WOC can’t get that in tvd lol.

I’ve had this edit saved for over a year now. I am not the original creator and I believe they got their account deleted as a disclaimer.
I love everything about this edit. It is so honorable to Bonnie and the Bennett’s. It depicts a different storyline than what we were given with them. I wish they were given a bigger forefront than some other character’s families. This is the superior witch bloodline to me, they are the creators and the blueprints! This is a matriarchal line of black and brown women how amazing is that?!
Julie could not relate to Bonnie which applies to her “struggles” (racism)writing her and her bloodline. If a fan can make an edit like this then there is no excuse why a writer couldn’t uplift Bonnie and her relatives. The Bennett’s are still the superior bloodline to me.

In regards to Bonnie's attraction to the darkness, it makes me wonder about the Bennetts as a family and how there are so many hints to this side of her.
Lucy's association with Katherine. (Headcanon that they have or were hooking up.)
Sheila's knowing look to Stefan and reference to the past. (They obviously did right? What happened between them? Should have been a flashback.)
Even Qetsiyah. Her punishment for Silas and Amara? Deviously creative.
There's just so much history and unexplored potential for her character. Imagine instead of using John to save Elena, she actually died during the sacrifice (which would have narratively been a bit more satisfying) and Bonnie, with her powers still, begins to learn different kinds of magically.
Maybe Klaus figures out he needs Elena, so he comes back into Bonnie's gravity and together they play Shane into revealing what he knows about Silas and Expression.
Instead of the cure, she's going to resurrect her best friend.
They get to the island and wake Silas only he reveals that it was a lure he cast. He can't really bring people back. Without a second thought, Bonnie kills him. She's come too far and she won't be stopped by lies now.
She uses his death to channel the strength she needs for resurrection, but her power doesn't only call to Elena. It calls to other characters we've seen die in the series. I can see there being elements too of a sire-like bond or siren sound the way the resurrected people respond to her.
And this became a tangent.

tbh fuck everyone who said this show was simply "shallow" because it did a lot more interesting things with narrative and perspective and women than a lot of prestige tv today lmao

I absolutely despise it when people blame Elena for everything. I’m not denying that she didn’t make questionable (or stupid) decisions from time to time, she did, but, people forget that for most of it Elena was a minor. She was an inexperienced teenager trying to do what was right, and stay alive.
Anyways, everyone in the show (and irl) makes mistakes and stupid decisions. That’s just how it is, that’s life.
“oh but this is all Elena’s fault bc she’s a doppelgänger-”
Blah, blah, blah
Once again, not her fault. She didn’t ask to be born a doppelgänger. Technically, she’s not even supposed to exist. She was created by nature itself, to right a wrong.
If you really want to find someone to blame for all the horrible things happening to all of them, blame Silas & Qetsiyah because they brought upon her existence (and every other doppelgänger) by trying to become immortals.
And in the creation of doppelgängers, Vampires were also created because Esther Mikaelson used doppelgänger blood (and the immortality spell created by Qetsiyah) to make them.

Honestly,
Qetsiyah really grew on me. Reading that there were plans to introduce a whole family unit and the writers didn't deliver / cut that out because it was too long was a shame. I rather had that rhan the repeat of the generic ❤️🔺️
Like, yes, her romantic betrayal was what ultimately drove her to this, but Qetsiyah had all that power.... she's easily one of THE most powerful witches in the universe, and the lore as we know it in TVDU started with her and continued onwards through her line until we ended up at the Bennetts.
Don't get me wrong, I'm glad Qetsiyah got her revenge and punished two cheaters. It was something she wanted for 2000 years, which some would argue well isn't that enough?
I partially agree. She could've still held onto that revenge/plot around it. With her whole family and the Schism that came with her actions, seeing that playout would've been cool too. Also, the magical implications and beliefs of the witches and travelers had would have been nice.
It's why I wished to have gotten some clues here and there about Qet that hinted at the whole doppelgängers and the Other Side once they were revealed in early seasons. Now, I know the writers wrote themselves into a lot of inconsistencies, but Qetsiyah wasn't one of them.
I imagine things like Qetsiyah reaching out to her descendants in some type of way, or even through the Spirits.... because you can not tell me none of them knew what occurred.
If Qetsiyah brought forth the Original Sin and the world's first true Immortal, I would be down for that being a side story that sewed some type of discord in her line: those that do follow Nature's rule (against Qetsiyah's action) and those that didn't. It would be an awesome way to add some type of infighting of ideals / how magic within their bloodline is governed. They all existed on the Other Side. Qetsyiah could have been this mysterious force that sort of indirectly guided Bonnie, and then we got to S4-S5 where we get the full story and the face.
Another idea that comes to mind is that with her whole revenge, Qetsiyah would be this mysterious witch who made deals with her descendants to get one step closer to Silas. Like the way she asked the witch of the five to make the hunters, and maybe later those tattoos could've been made invisible by another one of her descendants, etc. I can also see Qetsiyah only reaching out to descendants who really need help or 'go against nature' and the Spirits don't answer them.

Silas needs to fuck off to somewhere else. I need to make Amara & Qetsiyah the origin of the Bennett-Petrova doomed love cycle.

What is the obsession with comparing Bonnie to witch’s on a different show? Compare them to each other not Bonnie. Bonnie Stan’s could be praising Bonnie for her power or hyping her up then here come the haters ready to discredit anything she’s ever done.
The Bennetts are the blueprint to TVD remember that!! Had it not been for Qetsiyah you would have no originals, doppelgängers, other side, immortality and the cure.
A Bennett witch told Esther about immortality and was her Bestfriend/MENTOR. Remember that!!!
