Soooo, I'm rarely on here these days and I'm super inconsistent with checking my inbox. I have no idea when this was sent. Sorry!

Anyway, screw them. I can't put into words how much I hate Bonnie's canon ships. The way people completely disregard Jeremy's disloyalty and infidelity makes me sick. The devil tried to rewrite Jeremy/Anna as some love story just so Bonnie experienced pain. Anna was using Jeremy the same way she was using Ben. Bonnie revived this loser and he cheated on her with the same vampire that kidnapped Bonnie. She revives him again with the expense of her own life just for him to cross relationship boundaries again with Liv Parker. Beremy was a shit relationship because Jeremy has the maturity of a toddler, constantly walking himself into danger cluelessly with Bonnie playing the mother who needs to protect him. Almost every single man who showed interest in Bonnie did so to use her (Ben, Luka, Shane). Bonnie didn't even like Jamie which is why she ditched him immediately.

Her relationship with Enzo brought a regression of Bonnie as a person. She was reckless for the sake of love. He was carelessly poisoning her to death which mirrored their entire dynamic. Bonnie wasn't even Enzo's first choice nor was she his second or even his third. He was supposed to be the "love of her life" and yet everything about them revolved around Damon. The devil wasted Bonnie's love on the most irrelevant characters to give them substance. Even in her relationship, she's written as a tool. Firstly, she's used for keeping Jeremy safe. Secondly, she is used for making Enzo matter and persuading people to care about him as a character (no matter how many storylines they threw him into, no one cared). Her relationships are all about Bonnie serving a purpose for the betterment of the men and Bonnie gets absolutely nothing out of it.

the later seasons of tvd would’ve been so much better had bonnie and caroline switched love interests and storylines.

it would’ve made more sense for stefonnie to get together, bonnie have kids (whether they be the gemini twins or not), stefan take the cure from elena, and open as supernatural school.

it also would’ve made more sense for caroline to fall for enzo (a vampire that actually enjoyed vampirism and fit her moral standards) and did the whole annoyance to lovers trope.

bonnie showed interest in having kids and was far more equipped to teach the next generation of supernaturals. additionally stefonnie had a much better set up post season 4 and kat and paul had amazing chemistry.

caroline never showed interest in children in any way shape or form and enjoyed every aspect of vampirism. it would’ve been more fitting for her to be with someone that fit the immortal lifestyle she set out to live, which enzo could’ve done (i honestly would’ve loved single!caroline but if i couldn’t have that or forwood, carenzo would’ve been my next choice for her).

i am a shipper and even when i don’t ship a ship, i can see the appeal. with bonenzo, i dont see it. i get it from the angle of wanting to see bonnie happy but I genuinely resent it so much 😩

Same! I try to see the goods in any pairing to understand why people enjoy it. As a Bonnie fan first I just can’t with Bonenzo lol.

Enzo’s characterization was all over the place. One minutes he’s Klaus-coded, not leaving Caroline alone despite her refusals, harassing and antagonizing Stefan later the MFG. Then he’s obsessing over Lily, and then Damon-coded the moment they decide to care to put him with Bonnie. Which is the only time he had a consistent plotline. He was just some false villain around the MFG for some time.

People are always saying we miss “sweet” moments with Bonenzo. They don’t have many. Most of Enzo’s initial screentime had NOTHING to do with Bonnie. He was not thinking of her and when they decided to push them Bonnie looked more into him than he was with her. It appears his reasons for wanting her has heavily to do with her loyalty to people. Which could easily apply to any of the villains.

I recently did a re-watch so this fresh on my mind but Bonnie and Jeremy only dated 11 months per the timeline. Romance is a huge portion of this show so you’d think Bonnie’s big and second romance that lasted 3-4 years of her life would have a bigger impact on screen but it doesn’t. We see absolutely nothing with Bonenzo besides the writing dancing around Bamon’s situationship of season 7. Why even have Enzo describe where he’d marry her at as a ghost? Why not show us Paris? Nothing. Remember Bonnie said she wanted to be with Enzo forever but couldn’t he just said okay. But, Caroline who was disrespecting Stefan’s grieving and was in the wrong cries because Stefan didn’t do what she asked. Enzo stormed in there for HER!

They did not want us to seriously care about Bonenzo.

No other female character romance was told in a time jump and half-assed to shut up another ship(Bamon). One last thing for now violence and sex is in all of TVDU pairings but some people get mad when you remind them this was Enzo too. It takes us back to the main point. If Enzo can be this hellbent violent person to many characters then it’s no “real” reason why Bonnie’s other pairings couldn’t have happened.

I can't stand Enzo so his death had no effect on me but I did hate how they used his death as a torture device for bonnie character then to make her go to stefan and Caroline wedding after all that

why don't you and most Bonnie stans like her relationship with Enzo?

I don't speak for everyone but that ship was never of interest to me for several reasons. Most of these reasons revolve around Enzo himself. When people do like Enzo, their reasonings have absolutely nothing to do with canon. His accent and appearance hold too much weight because his character is severely lacking. It's kinda like we're watching completely different shows which is the fault of the writers. Enzo was created to be a bad boy for Caroline, but plans changed partially due to Candice's pregnancy. With the shift in plans, comes a lot of revisionist history when it comes to Enzo and his character.

I saw someone say he was a caring person and gave Sarah Salvatore as an example. He literally sought out to destroy her life and then did a random 180. He was the one who put Sarah in danger in the first palace just to mess with Stefan. The flip-flopping pretty much embodies Enzo as a character. He was pissed Stefan killed Maggie and that suddenly went away when he discovered it was Damon. Out of nowhere, he decides he didn't really love Maggie in the first place. Way to treat her as the disposable black girlfriend, Enzo. He was beefing with Stefan obsessively for nothing?! Every other character has a motivation (something to fuel their behavior) and he just doesn't have one. Why the hell did he even stay in Mystic Falls? We don't know! Between his inconsistencies, lack of legitimate motivations and pointlessness, he's exhausting as a character to deal with.

The BE relationship is romanticized to the point of making Enzo an angel. It's honestly a bit preposterous that he is the man they claim deserves Bonnie. How is he any different from the rest of them? People act like he didn't kill innocent people (e.g. Tom Avery). Maybe it's because they don't pay his character any attention. They just ignore that he is a murderous vampire who has also been physically aggressive towards Bonnie. He has no moral high ground in comparison to the rest of vampires. While most of my criticism may seem like an attack on their shippers, it's actually a criticism of how Bonenzo is written.

They don't have much history nor do the actors have chemistry. And the little history that they do have (Enzo attacking Bonnie, Bonnie cutting off his limb) goes completely unaddressed. This is because their relationship isn't built from a connection or shared history. It's built off co-dependency. Their weak bond is further exemplified when Damon returns. Their entire relationship revolves around Damon. Damon shouldn't be able to insert himself so easily into their relationship, if their love was so strong. People shouldn't have to make things up to find things redeemable about Enzo as a character or like BE as a ship. I think part of my issue with Enzo is that the devil (Julie Plec) claimed Bonnie would never be with a murderous vampire. Enzo isn't a saint, despite his last name. He's given a pass for his evil deeds so that the devil can justify keeping Bonnie away from leading male characters. Bonnie isn't seen as a romantic competition for the other female characters. Hell, Enzo even says she isn't used to men fighting over her. In this instance, Enzo is being used by the writers to further belittle Bonnie. To put it simply, Enzo sucked.

The Vampire Diaries opinions people hate me for:

Forwood is actually a good ship and I wish it didn't have to go down like that, at the expense of Caroline's character.

I ship Klaroline; but Klaus was toxic. I could only ever see this ship becoming endgame if Klaus redeemed himself first.

Caroline had chemistry with everyone except Stefan.

Bamon had potential (and it was literally in the books). If they had come up with a "I had my humanity off" plotline it would have made the ship work🤷🏻‍♀️

Bonezo is a good ship and is clearly less toxic than Bamon; but it only happened to please racist dullena fans that complained about Bamon's romantic implications(even if it happened in the books)

Caroline, Katherine, Bonnie, & Stefan are the most interesting characters of TVD

Matt did not deserve the hate. His feelings were valid. All his friends were killers and he was an abandoned, heartbroken boy, whose mom was a drunk and pedophile, and his only sister & family was killed by the boyfriend of his ex-girlfriend who he loved alot, just cause he decided he was bored. He remained loyal & brave to his friends and they didn't account for their murders and killings & stopped caring for the innocent.

Alaric was not a bad father and teacher. Even if he had his slip-ups he was actually an interesting & good character.

Damon is way too defended In this fandom. People should like the character and not defend the wrongs?! Just how many women has he compelled to sleep with him and to let him drink their blood? And what about what he did to Aaron whitmore? He slaughtered entire families of Innocents even while dating Elena. So all that "sHe mAkEs hiM bEtTeR" crap, is not valid. You can like Ian's acting and the smugness of his character, & like the character for those reasons, without defending the terrible acts of the character.

Delena was a horrible ship. The only reason it's popular is due to the shallow fact that people see Ian as more handsome than Paul. The ship only has good chemistry and looks. Beyond that, there is nothing.

Stefan is still the better man. (Fried humanity/off humanity Stefan don't count just as it goes for all the other vampires) Gaslighting writing through the other characters won't change that(Nice try, Julie P)🤷🏻‍♀️

Alaric and Jo were really cute together. I don't care. They made epic twins together.

Elena is overloved; but overhated at the same time. It's annoying. Just love the kind human girl that she used to be and hate the vicious, selfish girl she became, without hating her for breathing. That simple.

Klelijah(Katherine x Elijah) is not a good ship. Katherine loved stefan. She was only using Elijah to survive, and back then she only pitied him. Elijah also only was with her because of what he did to Tatia

Katherine did deserve better though, even if she did bad things. Making her the biggest/& ultimate devil and pretending there wasn't any good in her was incredibly misogynistic. Like Damon & Klaus did worse things and they get happy lives and good character ends? Like No! Horrible! Katherine's core was a scared little girl who wanted to live a normal human life while still being powerful and beautiful. She was chased for 500 years, had to see her entire family slaughtered, lost a baby because of misogynistic expectations, found her again, just to see her last family die again. Did she do horrible things? Yes; all to survive. But she also saved Jeremy, Damon, Stefan, encouraged Elena to be honest about what she felt for Damon even when she didn't have to.

Caroline did annoying things; but overall she was an interesting character. And she was way too smart and strong as a vampire. I loved seeing it.

Bonnie deserved so much more than the show gave her. I hope she gets her own show one day. A show about witches would be pretty lit.

Rebecca could have tried harder to be kinder and less evil. I get she had centuries of habits she needed to break but still. (Elena stabbing her in the back was still shit though)

Klaus was evil to his default and was an abuser to his family. I'm glad he changed/died for hope; but still I would have been nice if there were other factors to this action.

They shouldn't have thrown away the good of Elijah Mikalson. He didn't deserve that. The way they also tried to pull a Stefan on him.

All TVD ships were good I just find: Steroline, Delena, & Klamille to be cringe. Steroline only happened to compensate Forwood/& Klaroline and justify Delena. And Delena only happened because of looks and the love story was trash. Klamille was also a compensation ship to Klaroline so yeah, cringe.

TVD writing, lore, acting, cinematography,. directing is all a 10. The only thing that is trash is the ending and all the romantic entanglement the show had.

Okay but “knowing this fandom will eat up anything” I mean EXACTLY THIS, because people LOVE Bonenzo in S8 and I’m just flabbergasted. I swear it’s me, I felt like I was watching DE all over again with Bonnie being uninterested in anything but Enzo and Enzo giving love declarations about nothing every few episodes. I actually liked them in S7, I liked the banter I loved their sexual tension in 7x06 and even the end of S7 I could see how happy Bonnie was but all of that felt gone in S8. Part of me thinks it’s because they decided for pure plot contrivance reasons to make Bonnie magic-less again and that’s why they made her so dependent on Enzo. It makes me dislike the ship so much.

Hi! Can you talk about why you ship Bonenzo? I love them so much and not just because they weren't a couple long enough for the writers to destroy them :) There's this cerebral component to their relationship that makes them unique among TVD ships for me---they're both extremely smart, like to learn new things, make references to ancient myths and history etc. that just sort of sets them apart from the other TVD ships - they're secretly nerdy lol, and I adore that. I also love how they're both guarded and somewhat jaded yet love SO passionately and fiercely. On another note...I also saw an ask about how Bonnie is different from Elena, and imo Bonnie is more comfortable as a learner/observer/thinker (I see her as becoming a professor/researcher!) while Elena is an instinctive feeler (and obviously smart too, but I'm saying she leads with her heart!) And so Bonnie is more guarded while Elena is more open and trusting/forgiving but also more impulsive and prone to doing something unexpected and then wishing she hadn't. This makes Bonnie...steadier, sort of? More loyal and consistent and fair. But she's also less trusting, less forgiving, less open etc. So I think they're both a great mix of strengths and flaws and not the same ones! One last thought - Elena is more used to being the center of attention, and I don't mean that to say she's as selfish as antis say she is---I just mean that she's just always been adored, a natural leader who ends up at the center of things, etc. Elena was the star and therefore Bonnie fell naturally into the supporting role, thinking more about helping Elena and others than herself. And to circle back to the beginning of this long ask, one reason I love Bonenzo is that he's the first person to be like 'but YOU'RE powerful and strong and can travel and shine and you're the center of my world and now it's time to play the lead role in your own show!" you know?! I totally understand why people ship Bamon, but he made it clear that Elena comes first to him---BONNIE is the first and generally only priority for Enzo during the admittedly short time we see them as a couple, and she deserves that! Meanwhile, he's been betrayed, abandoned etc so Bonnie's loyalty, consistency, and love are exactly what HE needs too :) All just my random thoughts and obviously I'd love to hear yours!

You hit it pretty much on the nose! They’re such a good match because they offer each other the things they both want/crave, and they balance each other and make each other better. Like all my favorite tvd pairings they push each other to grow and become more balanced and more mature through learning from each other and giving/getting love.

Not only that but they make each other bend their rigidities and become more open and welcoming and loving. Truly they show what live/support can offer someone who’s been traumatized and repeatedly hurt by the world around them (and the people in their lives).

Yes! I see a lot of people who enjoy them tag in this little notion, as if the drama in a teen drama somehow breaks the dynamics that are well written. Because the writing might have went absolutely horrendous post s6- but Bonenzo was the gem amongst the ashes.

This! They’re both so smart and so inclined to furthering their minds and educations. We see Bonnie’s inclination towards learning from the start and watch it shift from just magic to an interest/excitement about the world at large. This is a big component in her relationship with Professor Shane and Silas- they draw in her thirst for knowledge and even on her desire for an intellectually challenged relationship. While Enzo is depicted as someone whose always used learning to further himself in the world (however little access he had growing up) and he searches for this in older women or more educated women, because he wants a relationship that includes learning and stretching and growing- while offering him security (all jokes aside about milf’s).

So they find not only similar passions and desires in each other- but a stability in their moving forward together. Which makes them both feel safe to fully explore and start to desire these things. Which is what sees Bonnie’s desires to travel solidify into more concrete plans, fully moving her from the ghost who pretended to travel the world to the woman fully alive and happy who is going to see the world.

BONNIE is the first and generally only priority for Enzo during the admittedly short time we see them as a couple, and she deserves that!

Exactly!!! Like one of the biggest reasons they work so well is for this reason. Because this is the type of live Enzo has been trying to give his whole life and the kind of love Bonnie has been seeking.
