had a random memory of this weird anti-shia interaction i had in hs and i have no one to talk about it w rn but it rlly made me question if shias are viewed this way every where.
the interaction was me asking my school acquaintance if he was sunni or shia, bc we were talking about our ethnic background and religion for whatever reason. and when i asked him if he was shia he got rllyyyyy offended and gave me a nasty look and said ‘no, bc shias are terrorists’ which was a shock to me bc i never heard someone say that about shias (and also bc i just told him my dads fam was shia and i was irreligious shia at the time lol) and i’ve heard some pretty nasty stuff about us, just never that shias are terrorists. is this a prevalent opinion or just a weird one he had?
bc this was like 10 yrs ago atp and i never seen someone say something like that after, but i also avoid muslim spaces generally and when i am involved in muslim spaces it’s always around other shias so i’m not sure if it’s just my ignorance or his lol
Shi'a Muslims are an oppressed group, and is demonized around the Sunni Islamic world on the basis of heresy and geopolitical issues. The fact is that there's no way you can please the entirety of Sunni Islamic world, due to our Rafd (rejection) of the first three and some other Sunni Islamic personalities. My assumption is that they referred to you as one due to various Shi'a Islamic resistance groups and Iran's participation in the Syrian Civil War and the Shi'ite counter-offensive against ISIS.
It's not as prevalent as other terms, since we're often accused of being magians, jews, polytheists and many other things. One particular term is the reclaimed slur "Rawafidh/Rafidha" which means One who rejects (the first three caliphs). Unfortunately, it's not only prevalent among the more conservative Sunnis, but even among the more moderate laymen.
Quite ironic given that we seem to be called terrorists, despite the fact that the overwhelming amount of massacres against Shi'as in Pakistan, Afghanistan, Iran and Iraq were sectarian in nature..

Watched gen v and was sorta impressed by the depth of storylines (the wacky stuff i just ignore mostly as gimmicks) and the kids acting in it and the themes tackled - even though its a clearer pattern now n fast becoming a kripke-patented repeated story elements ( psyhic powers, older brother v sweet younger brother who is more powerful but tortured horrifically by family or initiated by fam through others and is not right in the head as a result, said younger brother's name being sam, huge brotherly bond n connection, medical trauma, manipulative adults abusing kids trust n kids exploding into violence n the rape-y non-con stuff going on everywhere) ...with super powers world setting n trimmings...the kuds stories still had a heart which is what appealed n the acting...
The jensen ackles cameo though, was atrocious....like, realllllllly bad .... and it didnt even feel like it was in an "ironic" way or a "this is what the story/scene wanted/needed" or anything, it was just ridiculously cringe....n thats almost mostly from acting choices made i reckon....it felt like watching a 3rd rate ham-fisted attempt at acting n a parody of the character ( sb itself had been already supposed to be an ott take on ye olde supe stereotype on "the boys" so this character didnt need anymore amping up)....yikes!...
unless someone on gen v deliberately set ja up to troll him? ... i dont know what happened there but man, i would not want to be hyping that cameo up....n its sad to see - but not too much...sorry is that mean?...
tagging as anti just in case though its more confusion n bafflement i feel about that performance....
Hell tje characters even called it out...

For the ask game, Celebrimbor and 5, 21 and 25?
OoOOOO thank you!!!
5. What's the first song that comes to mind when you think about them?
Three - Sleeping at Last
I'm constantly thinking about his relationship as the third Curufinwe, and his decision to take his mother-name, rather than continue Fëanor's legacy. How he's still very much a smith, very much on the edge of hubris, very much seeking perfection -- but in the end he creates three masterworks and gives them away, rather than guarding them for himself. Augh. He's so good.
Anyway this song is very him for me.
21. If you're a fic writer and have written for this character, what's your favorite thing to do when you're writing for this character? What's something you don't like?
I've just loved writing soft!Celebrimbor - Celebrimbor who is so kind and gentle and caring and warm. And of course the little hints of obsession as something that is both a strength and a flaw.
I'm not at all a fan of the fanon silvergifting dynamic. Like I do laugh at the memes sometimes, but idk. I think I feel about it the same way as I feel about kidnap fam where there is a lot of potential there that's very underutilized, but my thoughts on it aren't quite fully formed tbh. Mostly I think I just dislike how ubiquitous it is and I really dislike the twink!Sauron trope lol. It's such a fundamentally uninteresting reading to me, I guess? That's not to say that I haven't seen it done well. I have, and those fics and art pieces I've really enjoyed. But idk the ubiquitous stupid-sexy-twink-sauron x big buff himbo Celebrimbor is not really a dynamic that I enjoy I guess.
25. What was your first impression of this character? How about now?
To be honest I really did not care about Celebrimbor at first! Like he was an impactful figure in the Silm for me, obviously, but nothing about the sort of fanonized interpretation of that Silm figure ever really intrigued me. I guess the silvergifting angle didn't help either. I just was super meh on him.
And then, dare I say it, Rings of Power rolled around with Charles Edwards - and Charles brings such an insane warmth and sincerity to the character, along with sort of breaking the twink dark haired elf mold that everybody squashes him into, and behind the warmth and sincerity there's just that teeny bit of Fëanorian madness whenever he gets going on something and idk. It really made the character click for me and I was like oh. OH.
Plus Charles Edwards is a dilf, and I'm not ashamed to say so.
And so now Tyelpe is Best Boy to me. I love him your honor.
Also, ironically, I'm more into silvergifting now but I think that's mostly out of anti h*ladriel spite than anything else, combined with how much sexual tension Charlie and Charlie had. How Sauron immediately gets all touchy-feely with him and TheeEEEeEEE Celebrimbor????? Insane. They were insane for that. I was foaming at the mouth for them to make out on the anvil and it's crazy to me how little Silvergifting rep there is in the ROP fandom. I honestly felt like they had a thousand times more sexual chemistry than whatever is going on with Galadriel.

For the 30 year olds ask meme:
3, 5, 8, 10, 12, 17, 25, 30, 33, 37, 39, 40, 42, 43, 46, 50, 54, 67, & 69
Hello insert fireelmo.gif!!!!!! Thank u!!!! Whew these were a lot so in deference to your dashes I will do a cut 🫡 they were fun tho 🥹
3. Foaming hand soap or normal hand soap?
Normal! When I lived with my cousin she liked foaming hand soap which is fine obv but I don’t go out and buy it so normal hand soap it is. I like Mrs. Meyer’s…
5. Least favorite chore?
Answered!
8. What cleaning product do you swear by?
Well I did say Mrs. Meyer’s, which I use for hand soap/dish soap…I also wanted to keep up with the fabuloso for mopping but I was introduced to the little pacs that you just drop into the mop so now I use that. But if we’re talking what cleaning product do I talk up all the time it’s bar keepers friend lol
10. Youtube, cable TV, or streaming?
I use a mix of YouTube and streaming! My fam/friends share a list of logins so we’re pretty evenly covered I feel
12. How many cups can you see from where you're sitting?
Shockingly just the one…oh no wait I can see into my office. I have one iced coffee I made myself approx. 20 minutes ago next to me and I can see my water bottle (which needs to be refilled) and an empty bottle of vitamin water…on my desk is an empty plastic cup I should’ve thrown out…and I can’t see it rn but I know it’s there so I’ll count my glass of iced coffee that I already finished
17. What's a movie you saw recently that you liked?
Oh goodness a movie?? I’ve seen others after it but I saw challengers in theaters and it was soooo great
25. Favorite old person activity?
Goodness…sitting on my couch after work with a drink in hand to veg out and watch my shows until it’s time for bed I guess
30. How many pairs of scissors do you own?
LMAO what a question. Ok I have 1 pair of kitchen shears that I try to keep solely for cooking related actions and one pair that’s kinda all purpose and lives in my toolbox (or it should). I think I have a pair of kid’s scissors I found when I was moving but I have no idea where I put that afterwards so I both do and don’t own it now
33. What's something you collect?
God. I used to collect coins from other countries but my brother threw it out (accidentally??) so… otherwise I’m always looking out for cute pins
37. Do you still listen to the same music you listened to in high school?
Ironically I made up a playlist composed of my fav middle/high school bangers that I listen to a lot now, so…yes
39. What little treat do you always get when you run errands?
Ok it’s not every time but there’s an ice cream shop that’s a cute couple minute’s walk from me that I’ll stop at after my more annoying errands
40. Grocery list or no grocery list?
I try to grocery list but inevitably forget while I’m there so…it’s all vibes. I now live across the street from my grocery store though so it’s not as bad.
42. What's an unjustifiably expensive appliance that you really want?
A kitchen aid stand mixer 😭 I’m sorry, I’m a sucker for the cute colors…that or one of those vitamix food processors. I didn’t have the space at my old place for appliances so now that I have the space it is a struggle not to just go ham. My sister also won an air fryer during bingo last year and tbh now I’m like………idk. Maybe……
43. Favorite book you've read recently?
Is it bad to say I haven’t finished a book in a while 😭 lemme look at my kindle…I have so many books partially started 🥲 I’m enjoying Silky Shah’s Unbuild Walls bc that’s who I am but I’ve also started the skin and it’s girl and an intrigued.
46. What kind of stuff do you keep on the door of your refrigerator?
I inherited a nice fridge (waaaay bigger than my old one AND it dispenses water/ice) which I love but the door isn’t magnetic. The side however is and I keep my knives on a block there along with miscellaneous magnets (including photos 🥲)
50. Pro or anti throw pillows?
Ok here’s the thing. I used to be anti throw pillows bc I’d be like they’re so annoying and tbh useless??? But now!!!! I got some comfy ass throw pillows and I’m into it. I am pro throw pillows now.
54. Do you decorate your house for holidays? Which ones?
I don’t!! My first year at my old place I didn’t bother to have a Christmas tree or anything and lemme tell you that was Controversial. I’ll have to get a new tree now, assuming I actually decorate…I might get a cute wreath for the door though and make it usable for the year? I don’t usually decorate special tho.
67. Do you keep any stuffed animals on your bed?
Aaron, my little wolf I’ve had for decades, lives on my couch owing to the face that I have something like five pillows on my bed now
69. What are you looking forward to next week?
USWNT send-off (or one od them anyway) next Saturday! I’m also looking forward to getting my coworker’s trial over with (I’m taking over for him and am trying not to be too nervous about it).

Again, an unintentional pause in updating. I haven't even started the year-in-review post either. Solstice and Christmas were fine, mostly low-key, only an extended fam dinner on the 23rd (did not get Covid nor the flu), and then staying home, as the plan to visit my dad's side of the family were postponed again. I did lots of laundry and ironing, finally mended the to-be-mended pile of socks and other clothing items, etc., ignoring work as hard as I could, basically. Did visit some friends, too, and meet up for a museum visit+coffee with my girl cousins (one of them missed the extended fam dinner). Side note, so odd that I actually have 2 more girl cousins these days, since my mom's little brother decided to start another family in his late 50s, and they're 4 and 2. Their grandpa was born in 1909 and has been dead since 1987, and these girls might live to see the 22nd century.
I also finally saw a hand specialist at the best hospital in town, after complaining to my new GP that my wrist has been hurting over 2 years with no progress led to being referred. And within 10 minutes, she had a diagnosis (De Quervain's syndrome), and a treatment plan, which starts with 2 weeks of prescription anti-inflammatories along with 5 weeks of wearing a prescription brace day and night (it's reasonably comfortable, moreso than the elastic ones I had). If that won't fix it, there's a steroid shot, and beyond that, the option of surgery. In any case, it seems like there's finally some hope of fixing it.
Speaking of the new GP, I dragged the boyf over, too, which had been the plan since October, and he's now on blood pressure meds he should probably have been on sooner, but it is what it is, and after all this reluctance he now seems kind of happy with it (like I told him he might be). He also got alllllll the blood, etc. tests, but the results aren't in yet.
I'm still waiting on all the treats I got myself, since I used a forwarding service and some of the stuff is still making their way to their main depot with all the holiday delays. Which of course did not stop me from ordering 2 more sweaters from Sellpy (more Pringle and Lacoste, will try on and return if not up to expectations). I did put extra into the retirement index fund, too, so there's that, but tbh should try a lot harder on that front. As pretty much all others.

Just saw a post about "extended ir*n-fam" and some of those people??? just didn't make sense to me???
Like I understand headcanon and fanon family, I myself have headcanons about that kind of thing with other characters, but some of those people being there just didn't make sense?
They had Wanda, Peggy, MJ, May, Shuri, Nebula, Natasha, and god damn Ultron were all included! Natasha I can understand to an extent, I guess, and Ultron was his creation (even though Ultron didn't like him in canon), but the rest of them don't make a whole lot of sense.
Wanda was locked up by him and he was the source of a lot of major trauma for her, whether directly or indirectly doesn't matter. While she might not still actively hold a grudge against him, I don't think she likes him enough to even consider thinking of him as family. Especially after Civil War.
Peggy has never been confirmed to have ever had a relationship with Tony. As far as we know, they may not have ever met in the first place, and don't hit me with that "Peggy was totally Tony's godmother!" argument. That whole thing is fanon and utter bullshit, it's implied in Agent Carter that Howard was Jewish and, therefore, Tony wouldn't even have godparents in the first place! Howard was, as it has been established, good at compartmentalizing and keeping his work life and personal life separate, that could also apply to his friendship with Peggy.
MJ, this one just screams shite to me. I mean honestly, no matter her relationship with Peter, you expect me to believe MJ, Michelle "Eat the Rich" Jones, the same Michelle Jones that I wholeheartedly believe to be anti-establishment, against the 1% and billionaires, and would totally be out there protesting against poverty and the hoarding of money, would be part of the "ir*n-fam"? I just...have no words.
Aunt May, do I even in need to explain this one? Again, no matter her relationship to Peter, do you honestly think she would just be chill with T*ny Stark? I mean, come on. She's a lower-class woman looking after her incredibly intelligent nephew after the death of his parents, they don't have a lot of spare money especially after her husband's death when Peter was younger. Now, comes along an incredibly rich, genius scientist showing an interest in said nephew's potential: of course she's gonna play nice when he shows up, of course she's gonna be excited that Peter has this opportunity. That does not mean, however, that she likes T*ny or that she'd want to be part of the "ir*n-fam".
Shuri, is it not bad enough that Tony has tried to claim Peter and has overtaken his story, but now Shuri has to suffer the same fate? To our knowledge they have never even met, why would she be a part of the "ir*n-fam"?
Nebula, yes, she was on a ship with him for a few weeks but it's not shown anywhere that they kept in touch. The fact that they got along fairly well while on the ship doesn't mean much, they were stuck on there alone for weeks, they probably had to learn to at least tolerate each other in order to stay sane.
In conclusion, wtf? Why does every character that has barely anything, or absolutely nothing, to do with T*ny need to be made to be part of his “ir*n-fam”? It just doesn’t make sense to me.
P.S. don't come at me for tagging characters relevant/mentioned in this post. If you don't like anti posts you should block anti tags, that's part of the reason they exist.

Do you know the trope where two people fake a relationship for some undercover mission, right?
Well, I need a fic like this but as Tony and Peter pretending to be father and son.
At the start they are very uncomfortable with each other and even though they already know eachother, their relationship is more as a mentor/student, more professional (but they still care about the other). Precisely for this reason, the first days are difficult: Peter doesn't want to disappoint Tony again because of homecoming and thinks he's just a burden, while Tony is scared to get close because he thinks he's not a good person and is scared he will end up like his dad because Peter doesn't deserve that (yeah he's already thinking as his father). As expected they don't spoke about their fears, but after living together for a while and slowly as the mission progresses, they begin to get close inevitably, becoming more protective of each other and getting more attached. Faking their father and son relationship is more and more easy through the domestic things they do together, but when they come back from the mission one of them remains hurt. Tony/Peter is going crazy and when the ambulance arrives they're just like "SAVE MY KID/MY DAD" even though they just don't have to fake it anymore. After recovering, Both of them is acting as they acted for the past weeks and everyone (May, Pepper, Rhodey and Happy) is like "since uh when", but Tony and Peter doesn't seem to notice their respective behaviour for days, until Peter calls him Dad.
He didn't mean that, it just slipped away because that's how he called him for weeks, but as soon as he said that word they just stared at each other for one minute. Tony tries to comfort him when Peter starts to panic, saying it was normal after the mission, however Peter does not calm down and confess he sees him like his dad, and is ready to leave when Tony is shocked and remains still.
But just before running away, the man stops him and reaches him and tells him he's not the only one to think that way. They're both emotionally constipated, yet they end up hugging (and Tony kisses his forehead because I'm a sucker for that trope).
At the end they accept their respective role in the other's life and they are closer than ever. Happily ever after (until infinity war).
This is a physical need, give to me a fanfiction like this or there will be consequences.

(Steve and Tony have started seeing each other, but Peter and Harley still don't trust Steve due to the events of "Civil War")
Peter: Dad really likes Steve, and he'll be back any minute. So let's just try to be nice to the little rat.
Harley: OK.

I'm still as salty as a crystal mine at the Russo brothers for thinking it was realistic to have Rhodey be so friendly with Steve and Co after Civil War.
Diplomatic I understand, but they made him way too nice for him to come across as believable that he's just cooperating. Miss me with that bullshit.
Anyway, Rhodey after seeing the man who beat who his best friend to the ground, lied to him for years, and added to his already crushing PTSD:

Tony and Steve’s decisions in CA:CW were totally foreshadowed. Right in the first Avenger, Steve had no problem tossing people aside to chase bad guys but all through his trilogy, Tony had tried to keep the fight away from civilians (trying to tell Obadiah not to hurt civilians, catching the civilians, catching civilians falling from a plane, stirring AIM people attacking him away from civilians, scaring civilians so they’ll leave during his fight with Rhodey), was the one to build the suits directing the civilians away from fights in AoU, and was the one to put the nuke inside the portal to keep the city safe. Most of this at the expense of catching the bad guys/his own safety. AoU wasn’t the only reason Tony signed the accords. He always believed in them.

Happy Birthday Peter!
“Pete, buddy,” Tony whispered fondly, gently running a hand through his soft curls. “Baby, it’s your birthday.”
“Mmm?” Peter groaned. Tony grinned.
“That’s right, baby, it’s your birthday. I made you pancakes.”
The boy opened an eye. “‘S my birthday?”
“Sure is,” he chuckled. “Happy birthday, sweetheart.”
“You made pancakes?”
“Blueberry chocolate-chip, with plenty of whipped cream,” he answered, rubbing his kid’s back. “Your favorite.”
Peter smiled sleepily, pushing himself up and rubbing his eyes. Tony enveloped him in a warm hug, kissing the top of his head.
~~~~~
May grinned when Peter stumbled into the kitchen, squinting around blearily, Tony’s arm around his shoulders.
“Happy birthday, little sixteen year old!” she cooed, giving him a quick side-hug. “Do you like the decorations?”
Peter noticed for the first time that the room was strewn with red and blue spider-man banners, spider-man balloons saying “Happy Birthday Peter!” in bubble letters tied to his regular chair, which was labeled “birthday boy” in Tony’s handwriting. He blinked.
“Wow…”
“If you think that’s something, you should see all that presents everyone got for you,” May laughed. “Especially Tony. He insists on spoiling you.”
They both became worried, however, as tears sprang to Peter’s eyes.
“Petey, hey, no, baby, what’s wrong?” Tony murmured anxiously, wrapping Peter in a hug. “Why are you crying? Don’t cry sweetheart, please. Is it too much? We can take it down, bambi, it’s okay-”
“No-no, I love it, Mr. Stark. I love it,” Peter sniffed.
The inventor smiled worriedly, titling Peter’s chin up and looking him in the eye. “You don’t look like you love it, munchkin. Why are you crying?”
“No, really, it’s great, Mr. Stark. Really. I-I don’t know why I’m so upset, I’m sorry, I don’t know.”
“Shh, shh, you have nothing to apologize for, Pete,” he cooed, the boy’s head leaning against his chest.
“Sometimes that’s just how it is,” May added. “You don’t have to know, honey, it’s okay.”
He nodded and gave a little smile. “Can we have the pancakes now?”
~~~~~
Peter flopped on the couch, stuffed full of breakfast, and switched on Return of the Jedi. Tony and May joined him (though they’d all seen the movie many times, courtesy of Peter.)
The spider boy pulled out his phone, racing to text Ned.
 GuyInTheChair: happy birthday pete!! 🎂🎂🎂
NotSpiderMan: XD thanks man!!!
GuyInTheChair: 🥳 any plans?
NotSpiderMan: not really! we’re just hangin
GuyInTheChair: cool dude! did tony buy you tons of presents?
NotSpiderMan: lol yeah! or so i heard
He couldn’t help a slight twinge of guilt. Just how many were there? How much money had they spent on him?
“Pete, are you even going to watch the movie?” May teased.
He smiled, pushing down the guilt, typed a quick “ttyl” to Ned, and shut off his phone.
He barely noticed the worried looks both Tony and May were sending him.
~~~~~
Peter decided he would stay in his (Iron Man) pajamas all day, drinking hot chocolate, (even though it was August) lying against Tony’s broad chest, his socked feet in May’s lap.
And then came a knock on the door.
“Now, who could that be?” May pondered, standing up. Peter could feel Tony tense, obviously ready for action.
“Happy birthday, Peter!” Clint shouted. There were several other choruses of “Happy Birthday!”
Peter beamed. “Thanks, guys! I didn’t know you were coming!”
“Neither did I,” Tony added, raising his eyebrows. His kid laughed.
His laughter was cut short, however, when he saw all the gifts they carried.
So many.
How much had that cost?
“W-wow, uh... thanks, everyone!” he stuttered. “Wow, I-I’ll be right back.”
They blinked as Peter rushed out. Tony followed him, face creasing in worry.
~~~~~
“Petey?” Tony knocked on his bedroom door. “Baby, are you okay? Can I come in?”
There was a noncommittal grunt from the boy.
He closed the door quietly, then sat next to Peter, who lay with his head pressed into his pillow.
“Wanna tell me what’s up, kiddo?” he murmured, gently running his fingers through Peter’s curls.
He shrugged. “It’s stupid.” His voice was watery.
“Pete, it’s not stupid, especially if it’s upsetting you, baby. I promise you it’s not stupid.”
Peter rolled over, refusing to look into Tony’s eyes. “How much did everything cost?”
The genius blinked, slightly taken aback. “I’m not sure, kiddo. Why do you ask?”
“Mr. Stark, how much did it cost?” he repeated.
“I don’t remember, sweetheart,” he amended. “I was just focused on making you happy, I guess I didn’t think. I’m sorry.”
“No, no, it’s not your fault!” Peter’s eyes widened. “No, Mr. Stark, I love the decorations! They’re great, everything is great. I-it’s stupid, you’re a billionaire-”
“Oh Petey,” Iron Man interrupted. “No, it’s not stupid, of course not. If anything’s stupid, it’s me. I didn’t even think- I’m so sorry, Peter.”
“No, don’t apologize.” He shot him a glare with no malice behind it. “It’s not your fault.”
Tony smiled and pulled him into a warm embrace.
“Thanks Mr. Stark. I-It actually helped a lot, to talk about it.”
A rush of relief flooded through him.
~~~~~
Peter smiled, embarrassed, as the Avengers sang “Happy Birthday” around him. Tony kept a protective arm around his shoulders.
“Make a wish, honey,” May advised, grinning in the candlelight.
The boy closed his eyes, thought for a second, then blew out the sixteen candles on his Spider-Man cake.
“What was your wish?” asked Clint.
Peter rolled his eyes. “If I tell you it won’t come true!”
Tony laughed and kissed his kid’s temple. “Right, kiddo. Not worth the risk, is it?”
They settled around the couch, pulling up extra chairs from the dining room. “Dessert before dinner?” Thor gasped. “Marvelous!”
May slapped Clint’s hand away from the cake. “Nope. Birthday boy first.” She cut a giant slice and handed it to Tony, who ceremoniously handed it to Peter.
“Oooh, ice cream cake!” Peter exclaimed delightedly as he dug in. “Sweet!”
Tony smiled. (At least he’d done something right)
His kid snuggled into his side as Episode IV: A New Hope played. Peter had insisted on starting at the very beginning.
About halfway through, most of the Avengers had fallen asleep, including May. Surprisingly, Peter was still awake, though he looked tired.
“Did you have a good birthday, baby?” Tony murmured, softly scratching his back.
“Yep. Sure did,” he answered, his eyes drifting shut.
The inventor smiled. Love overwhelmed him, overflowed in his chest, tears pricking at his eyes. He kissed Peter’s forehead firmly. “I love you so much, Petey. So so much.”
He almost thought Peter had fallen asleep. But apparently he hadn’t.
“Love you too, Dad.”
I am once again asking all Iron Dad fans to remember that IronSpider is the alternative Starker tag and does not mean what you think it does 🤦‍♀️
And also that we started using IronSpider because Iron Dad fans kept invading the Starker tag with hate. You don't get to harass us then try to claim our tags.
