You wanted to know about being a page.” “What if he doesn’t like me, and he tells all the other pages to hate me?” Maura blinked hard. Her eyes were stinging. “Well, for one, he might like you,” Daine argued. “For another, it doesn’t matter if he doesn’t like you; you’ve got Roald in your corner, no noble with any sense is going to turn on you. For a third… some people won’t like you, Maura, but you can’t stop that. They won’t like you for the same reasons other people will like you.”
