for some reason gerrard gets mad with buck and tells him to stay behind, wait in the engine while they’re out on call (maybe they disagreed on something idk!)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
cue the killer bees coming in and eddie starting to run for his life, and everyone else is just standing around probably a bit preoccupied with patients and staying safe themselves
BUT buck comes running out of the engine, absolutely going against gerrard’s orders to stay in the truck and is the one who pushes eddie into the pool, ultimately getting him to safety
Tumblr media Tumblr media
…. and maybe THAT’S why buck and gerrard really get into it, and eddie in the back telling buck to ‘cut it out’ with his hand motion
Tumblr media
but then gerrard says something that really tips him off (“maybe you should listen to your boyfriend, buckley”) and ends with buck finally having enough and punches him in the nose

Here's what I need... I need the writers to weaponize Gerrard's homophobia for good. Cause like, you know the entire 118 sees it, you know the entire 118 knows there is something more than friendship between Buck and Eddie, but they're also tactful enough to know that THEY don't see it yet, so they don't bust their chops over it.
Gerrard is devoid of tact! I need him to see them having a quite conversation, maybe about Chris, and tell them to make out on their own time. I need him to shout "Hey Diaz, get your boyfriend and follow me," I need Tommy to swing by for lunch and they're all sitting together and him to make a threesome joke.
I need someone to put the idea into those dumb boys dumb heads that they are actually married, thank you very much, and if we have to deal with that racist, homophobic, misogynistic A-hole... then at least we can weaponize his bigotry to jump start buddie!

What in the amount of blocked bummies tell my "for you" dash that I want more loons on my dash?
Just when I thought I blocked them all, another racist bummy rears his ugly head on my for you dash and bash Eddie, before even watching S8.
Yes, we get it you joined in for the two white males and the daddy kink joke, but for the love of God at least try to watch the entire thing before spouting crap like a racist old man with a 'stache getting along with the brown haired tanned Latino on his crew, that even if he kept his head down he would still make a handsome target if only for his skin color and slight accent.
Oh and also his last name.
All you white ppl need to just shut up and see where the wind blows, before you start to sound unobjectively racist while hating the racist captain for MAYBE picking on the one white male of the group.
And how the hell are they still only five?!
I want Ravi. But that's for another post. Probably for the best, though, for him to return after Gerrard kicks it out to early forced retirement. (De ja vu anyone?)

I have not been watching the latest episodes. Basically just following the spoilers. Was there any spoilers about Buck breaking up with Tommy? Didn't know what's happening in the show. But I find people discussing about the possibilities of a breakup after the golf scene with Gerrard. Any idea why that speculation is doing the rounds.
Hoping for the breakup to happen soon 🤞
I’m not too sure but it might be the way G has his hand on Buck’s opposite shoulder. Eddie usually puts his hand/thumb on B’s right shoulder. But this time it’s his left shoulder.
Maybe someone else can explain it better.

I have a theory
(TW SA, CSA)
1) Bobby and Athena still have the QR codes of Max Fulton’s little black book. This makes me think that a reveal may happen later on, where we find out that a character we know is in his book.
2) The writers put in a creepy joke about Gerrard molesting Buck. “He calls me buddy and touches me.” Was this simply a throwaway ‘joke’ or are they foreshadowing a future storyline?
I think Gerrard may be in Max Fulton’s black book or he could be in the videos but not in the book. And I don’t think his happy ending will last for long. Bobby and Athena would find out and team up with the rest of the 118 to take him down.

Gerrard turns out to be horrible allergic to bees, gets stung, refuses treatment to be done, by Chimney, Hen, or Eddie claims he can hold out till a white medic can get there.
Dies. Holding Out for a Hero plays all throughout the scene.
Bobby takes back over as Captain of the 118th. Buck demands they hold a ceremony for the Bee, thank it for their duty.

Urging everyone to PLEASE think about the CONSEQUENCES of racism in fire departments. THINK ABOUT whether the public was equally protected by Gerrard's team. About whether Hen and Chim were actually safe and protected by their teammates.
Gerrard's department was so fucking dangerous and the implications are that in real life they would have killed people. They would have left certain people to die sooner than others.
"Bystanding" or not being the most major instigator is still committing to the dehumanisation of people of colour on a job where you hold the power to decide where to stop fighting for someone. To decide who to leave behind, and who to sedate in the back of an ambulance.
The begins episodes were made to demonstrate this danger, and to show the audience about HEN and CHIM and how they had to navigate through this.

So odd how that has happened twice now.

3 Reasons Why Buck Could Be Golfing with Evil Mustache Man
It's some sort of dream or alternate reality (which I seriously doubt)
2. Buck is trying to get entail on Gerrard so that he can get fired, so he attempts to get close to the enemy (honestly, this option makes the most sense. No way in hell our boy would willingly hang out with that prick)
3. Tommy is taking Buck out on a golf date and end up running into Gerrard. And Tommy like a dumbass decides to invite him over to join them, much to Buck's annoyance and he ends up being forced to be cordial and tries to ignore him. (lowkey don't want this to happen, but could definitely see this happening)

So you're telling me that these extremist Buddie fans can sit here and excuse/defend Gerrard's current racist actions but they can completely hate Tommy for his racist actions in the past? This is exactly what I mean when I say that's some people in this fandom love weaponizing racism for their benefit.

The funniest interpretation of the bet surrounding how long Bobby will last as captain of the 118 is that the bet was created not only because it’s so goddamn hard to captain a station in Los Angeles, but also because this specific station is just chock-full of feral firefighters. We like to laugh at the current members of the 118 for being constantly unhinged, but I truly believe that had Bobby been anyone else, his bet would’ve been lost before the end of the first week. The 118 firefighters were yearning to be adopted by this equally unhinged midwestern gourmet chef, and we all KNOW that Bobby needed the 118 in return. But mostly, I’m just convinced that all the captains between Gerrard 1.0 and Bobby were driven off by the sheer horror of seeing how the 118 firefighters operate on the daily (in life and on the job). Bobby is the only one who knew how to roll with the chaos.

You know what. I’ve realised a massive part of why I dislike tommy so much!
He’s a shape shifter.
Think about it for a moment. We know next to nothing about this dude because he just shifts into whatever role he needs to play for whomever he’s with. We know he was military but have zero context beyond that but it’s implied he was the ‘perfect’ soldier.
Under Gerrard he’s a bigoted misogynistic racist homophobe.
Gerrard leaves and he magically becomes someone who can fit in with the 118 under Bobby.
Leaves the 118 and we don’t know what he’s up to.
Reappears on the scene when the firefam show up at the hangar and becomes what they need him to be in that moment.
Is essentially actively pursuing Eddie but is quick to switch to buck when it’s clear he’s an easier target. Drops buck when bucks not ready with zero explanation but is happy to go along with what buck wants when he calls him.
Man doesn’t have a personality of his own because he just shifts into whatever he needs to be for whoever he needs to be it for.

What if I say Tommy's racist comment as soon as Chimney appeared in the 118 actually set the tone of how everyone will treat him?
I'm not saying Gerrard wouldn't be racist towards him. However, Chimney is the first POC in the 118, him being there is a new situation. Gerrard does not know how the others will react. If everyone welcomes Chimney in, then his racism won't be tolerated from the team. But Tommy starts with a racist comment. Gerrard haven't said anything or even saw Chimney yet and Tommy starts with a racist comment. And it sets the tone. At least one person is okay and participating in the racism, nobody tells him off which means nobody will call out or report Gerrard for it. And they don't

Can we talk for a second how both Gerrard and T touch Buck without his permission?
Like completely un-prompted T kissed Buck after he talked about attention and how great Eddie is for a good five? Six minutes?
And completely un-prompted, when Buck is again confused as to the consequences of his actions, which ironically sent both Eddie and Gerrard to get medical attention 🤣 and he expects Gerrard to fire him, when in fact Gerrard hugs him for saving his life.
This time, finally, Buck has the proper response of why is this person hugging me instead of firing me?
Which is, funnily enough, with T - what should have been asked was why are you kissing me instead of reading me the riot act for hurting our friend?
The parallel is there, and if I had to guess, Buck wasn't confused with Tommy because it was a supposedly romantic/lusty reaction, like he knows what to do with that, he's done it with perfect strangers so it felt natural even though the gender changed.
But here Buck doesn't know what to do with adult gratitude, and a hug at that, he's not used to that, so hence the proper reaction of wtf is happening here in this scene with Gerrard.
Buck will probably play along, a lot like he does with the situation with T, but he's aware with Gerrard, and once he gets rid of one, he will probably get rid of the other as well, because he will come to his senses when he connects what bothers him in his relationship with Gerrard with what may be out of place in his relationship with T.
Ironically, the one hug he did expect was the one he got from Eddie in the coming out scene, and there was no confusion there. He knew what to do with it, because it was Eddie.
Just a thought.
