"You shouldn't romanticize X trope" "You shouldn't romanticize X ship in media" "You shouldn't write about X in a romanticized way"
Well-
Why don't you just stay away from your trigger content instead of forcing people to consume what YOU want them to consume?
It's always "People shouldn't write about this" "People will see X abusive ship and think it's okay irl" "People will see this and think X trope it's okay" "People will see this and think doing X in real life is okay" "People will turn into rapists/murderers/abusers if they see rapes/murders/abuse in media".
But it's never "People are responsible for what they consume" "People are responsible for their own actions" "If someone does X bad thing is not the media's fault, but the person's fault for having such bad morality" "If you feel triggered by some content, just block it" "People should teach others what's wrong and what's right instead of just hoping media will tell them murder is bad, killing someone is bad, abusive relationships are bad, etc"
Honestly, if you're a person who uses the word "romantizice" or you say "people shouldn't romanticize [X] in fiction" "victims of [X] will feel triggered with this and you shouldn't write about it" you are instantly a red flag for me. I want toxic people and pro-censorship people to stay away from me, thank you.

Just saw a post where someone complained that, because of a few of the likely hundreds of Zutara-fics, all Zutarians are being accused by antis of having...certain toxic fetishes, which is not true (and where Katara and Zuko are OOC btw). Those few individuals don't stand for the whole fandom, something everyone who can count to three should know...
Up to this point, I was absolutely with this person as a Zutarian myself. I couldn't find this post anymore, so those aren't the exact words, but after agreeing on all of this, they then claimed in the next paragraph: "It's not like we are Reylo or Dramione." And I was like: "Dude, are you for real, now?!"
I used to ship Dramione as a teen, starting before the last two Harry Potter-books had been released. Fandoms weren't much of a thing back then, and I also didn't write my headcanons down, but I still know exactly what I wished for: That Draco would become good, switches sides, and Dramione afterward fall in love with each other. I'm fine with Romione, but still think it's too bad—how much of an epic romance that would've made...
Tumblr media
I stopped shipping them eventually, but I'm still absolutely sure that the majority of Dramione shippers have headcanons similar to mine. And I'm not into Star Wars, but I'm also sure the same thing goes for Reylo.
It's hypocritical to speak against antis for one ship, but then show the same behavior as them when it comes to another... Let people enjoy their ship without judgement.
Edit: I still was so happy, though, when I watched the anniversary two years ago and learned that Emma Watson had a crush on Tom Felton. 😄

Reylo being the heart of Star Wars (much like Anidala before them) is showcased beautifully in TLJ & barely there in TROS.
I'll never understand how incompetent JJ Abrams is at making a fucking Star Wars movie. Like I'm sitting here thinking "How tf is this dude still making movies??? Why is he the definition of boring? Why is he so blind to how Rian Johnson almost saved The Sequel Trilogy by fixing the mess you made"

not to dredge up old discourse but its still legitimately such a tragedy that rey, one of the only main female protagonists in star wars, had so much potential and her story was reduced thru fandom & writing choices to a toxic relationship with a genocidal whiny ass man. she deserved so much more as a character, and could have been so much more

Why having a literature landscape monopolized by published Reylo fanfiction is not good:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The whole publishing Reylo fanfiction is also getting much more racially diverse because you are also seeing women of colour like Thea Guanzon and Molly X. Chang join in the fray, and their books are led by characters of colour to reflect their authors as well. However, this adds on another problem where the veneer of racial diversity of the recent slate of published Reylo fanfiction lends even more legitimacy to the genre even if the representation is... questionable, subpar and dangerous at worst.

I've seen certain people liking my posts and I wanted to say something.
For the last time, if you don't/can't understand than liking fictional things (any kind of fiction) doesn't make you support the same thing in real life, if you're against """""romanticizing""""" "toxic" ships (for example) but then you proceed to harass real people or tell them to kill themselves (or if you aren't against people harassing real people), block me now. I beg you.
Because I can't stand you.
I swear to God, you're the worst, and if you are happy harassing REAL people with REAL emotions, if you can't understand the difference between liking something in fiction and supporting it in real life (which it ISN'T the same) then I think you're not mentally stable enough to be in the Internet, and I don't want you interacting with me AT ALL.

Honestly, her taking the Skywalker name isn't the part that bothers me… if they had stuck to her being a nobody. If her parents really were just drunks who abandoned her, if it really was just luck of the draw that she was born with the Force, then that moment where she chooses her own destiny could have been really powerful. Where you start doesn't choose who you become, you do.
Instead they ruined it by making her related to Palpatine, so it's just HIS line stealing the Skywalker name after he destroyed all of their lives in his pursuit of power.

It kills me that the nostalgia that makes part of the Star Wars fandom idealize the Jedi and refuse to see them as flawed and corrupt in their system is so powerful. Just look at the critical receptions from some viewers to The Last Jedi, and now The Acolyte. It's amazing that these idiots didn't learn from their mistakes and reproduced the same pattern of criticism on the show. Idealization of past figures due to nostalgia, therefore refusing a more nuanced or even negative treatment which is objectively true (with Luke, therefore the Jedi and again the Jedi in The Acolyte), misogyny (against any female characters present / with It matters even more if the main protagonist is therefore a woman) racist (against any character who is not white, and even worse when it comes this time to the two main protagonists of the story) and anti romance (against Reylo and Oshamir, while Wtf Anakin and Padme, Han & Leia, Hera & Kanan, Jyn & Cassian or even Revan & Bastilla from the Legend extended universe ?) on the program !
