Historically, there was only one thing that Rita, Alice, James, Lily, Barty, and Remus could agree on, and it was that there was nothing better than seeing their spouses with their kids.

Of course, Barty and Evan had never had kids. Privately, Alice had been sort of thankful for that, as two homicidal maniacs raising a child probably wasn't a good idea. But Bella and Rita had done a good job with Venus, so far. She was a good kid, and Cissa loved her.

"How the hell did I get this lucky," James murmured, looking out the window where Regulus was laughing in the snow, wide-eyed Estrella and Cherie Potter-Black standing where a snowcastle had been.

"Same," Lily agreed, gazing at Pandora, who was patiently teaching Harry and Luna how to make a snowman.

Rita had her camera out, and she was taking picture after picture of the snowball fight between Venus, Neptune, Ceres, and Bella. Of course, it was the Skeeter-Blacks against Bella, but she was holding her own better than Alice expected.

Andromeda and Evan were running around with Elio, Celeste, Cressida, Pollux and Castor (Andy's adoptive kids), the five clearly trying to shove snow down Evan's jacket.

And Cissa. Merlin, the woman she was. Both Neville and Draco were burying her deep in the snow, and Alice knew she had to be freezing, but her head was tipped back and she was laughing, and Alice agreed with James: how did she get this lucky?

Alice hefted Calypso higher onto her hip, their little baby babbling in the way that says she wants food or her twin sister, Vega. She'd start hot chocolate while she was in the kitchen. Remus may kill them all if anyone gets sick a week before new years.

this is a band au for the marauders era BUT the original marauders are not the band. let me explain. also i want to preface by apologising because i just jump from character to character w the povs so

Moths to a Spotlight: Sirius, Peter, Marlene, Dorcas (no band name yet so shoot your shot if you want to)

the marauders era characters have a LOT of different roles here. Regulus and Pandora are ballet dancers, Mary and Peter grew up together & met Remus in highschool in America and did music but now Mary and Remus are like what billie is to finneas? (also i made Remus southern) Alice is a ball of whimsy and the next artist of our time painting only in vibrant and swelling colours BUT has one singular monochrome painting and i'll explain later. Evan manages Mary and Remus and MINERVA, queen that she is, is basically the band's mother/manager. fluffy black brothers!! oh, and andromeda is dead. whaaaat who said that

i know what you're thinking "where the fuck is james?? lily?? barty??" heh heh WELL you're not gonna like this. lily is the villain here and not in a good way. it was a VERY toxic marylily and lily is the Casual girl (chappell roan) ANYWAAAY you're gonna see a LOT of that BUT she does have her redemption arc. i think. maybe.

barty broke up with sirius right before they went on tour, a couple months before the beginning of the fic. they grew up together, its very bittersweet, might give you heartburn. AGAIN redemption arc.

and uh the jegulus here will just slap you in the face

OR. Mary and Sirius break up with Lily and Barty respectively and have to figure out how to clean up the mess from here only to be slapped in the face with new love interests. Mary joins Sirius' band as an opener for the european leg of their world tour and along the way finds that to love someone isnt pouring all of yourself down their drain hoping they'll eventually be satisfied but to be respected, remembered and cared for. While Sirius slowly falls head over heels for an oblivious Remus who joined Mary on the tour. At every stop it becomes more and more obvious until finally Sirius, a rockstar, ends up performing a sweet love song completely different from his music style as a love confession with help of Peter.

basically the journey of their lives together. they find love, they find FRIENDSHIP, they find beauty in the little things, they find laughter and peace and passion. this entire fic for me was to discover all the little things, the day to day things that makes life what it is. the shitty things people do and how they can come back from that. it's filled with jokes and family and bittersweet memories, pain and heartache and stretched silences. its all those moments you weave into stories to tell when you're old on a porch swing or young in a rocking chair. its their life.

well, evan. for me it will always be him. i just can't imagine him as a divine apparition on earth, cause even though he's... the devil, he's still so sadly human and he can't be perfect. not even in evil. this doesn't apply to pandora, even though they have the same face. neither of them are exceptionally good looking, but evan always seems like the ugliest of the two because he's also an asshole!!

although i have to admit not everyone thinks evan is super hot. honorable mention to the official members of the evan-is-a-loser club ( @marsabillions @lycoryspreachin love you)

french house of black! they're all english (or chinese 😉) except for druella (the mother of bellatrix, andromeda and narcissa) who's canonically a rosier. no one in the family can speak french except for her and regulus, who learned a few things to communicate with evan when he first met him at 14.

jegulus ☺️ there was a time in my life when i hated it so much (i was one of those people, yes), now i simply ignore it. likeeee it's not that i don't like it cause i ship jily, or cause i headcanon regulus as aroace (i love prongsfoot and also evanreg), but the problem is that in a ship with james (and with barty too!!) the personality of regulus that exists in my head and that i love would be completely distorted. and just the thought of it makes me feel really uncomfortable 😿 my regulus is kind of a product of my soul.

hcs that the marauders & the valkyries & the slytherin skittles are all best friends and also gay as hell.

james is the first of the marauders to come out, he's pansexual

his first crush is on lily, who he loudly proclaims his love to. she immediately turns him down on the grounds of 1) being lesbian and 2) being 11 and they become best friends instead

meanwhile in the skittles they sort of all come out at the same time. like they all become friends and then are like hey wait we're all gay

dorcas is lesbian, regulus is gay, pandora is pansexual, barty and evan are both bi & evan is ace

meanwhile, marlene is lesbian, mary and remus are bi, peter is aroace, and sirius cannot be bothered to label himself past "moony is pretty and girls occasionally are too"

eventually the groups begin to mingle both through quidditch and various crushes

aka marlene sees dorcas looking bored out of her mind while watching a gryffindor v slytherin quidditch match and falls in love

(she then gets hit in the face with a bludger and is in the hospital wing for a week)

eventually lily also starts crushing on pandora and james starts crushing on regulus

lily and pandora get together first because they, unlike their friends, are normal about having feelings

eventually mary also starts dating them because hell yeah polyamory

they go on cute dates in hogsmeade and spy on their friends :)

james and regulus get together next, everyone knows james loves very loudly and with all that sunshine focused on him, there was no way reg could last

james, lily, and mary are fed up with marlene pining after dorcas and they get regulus and pandora to help them set the girls up

(as it turns out, dorcas is confident until she's faced with a pretty girl with no boundaries)

of course there's also wolfstar and rosekiller

rosekiller has probably been together this whole time (nobody knows when they started dating, including them) but remus and sirius are painfully oblivious so they don't get together until 7th year and then they seem to be kissing 24/7

oh yeah and there's no voldemort in this universe. the only angst comes from the occasional black family nonsense

i just realized i haven't mentioned alice and frank yet so here they are:

they're a few years older than the marauders/valkyries/skittles

james totally had a crush on frank and lily had a crush on alice (another thing they bonded over)

regulus and alice are best friends because alice and narcissa are dating

bellatrix is still kind of insane but in a fun way (idk how to write her as a sane person 💀)

andromeda is the big sister of the skittles, and once the skittles start hanging out with the gryffindors, she becomes their big sister too

walburga and orion still suck. there is just far less angst regarding them.

sirius still runs away first because he and regulus don't get along super well yet. not so much because of houses or family, though those are contributors, but also because they're just very different people. regulus ends up moving in with narcissa and alice and is living his best life

they all go off into the world as best friends and do not die young or in pain or scared and instead live fun lives with each other in a peaceful world, as they were supposed to :)

12-year-old Annabeth begins a life of villainy with Jason returning to Gotham, drags in her sister who is doing this because Annabeth promised to let her use the gun, and Annabeth psychologically torments everyone. Suggested by @the-one-and-only-aroace

Annabeth Chase-Wayne is dumped in the YJ universe and gets irritated real quick. This results in arson, a brief quest to retrieve Roy and more arson.

Reverse Robins AU where Annabeth 'died' before Damian arrived. She shows up after TOA with freshly restored memories courtesy of Apollo and the urge to beat a god into the ground. Or, Amnesiac AU

Percabeth/Rachel have been dating for a while, and Annabeth goes to a masquerade in Gotham with Rachel and Percy and ends up being kidnapped by the Joker. It ends with her slitting his throat.

Damian has known Andromeda since he was young, a girl with gray eyes and a mask he can never quite see through who attended to his mother since he could remember. When Deathstroke attacks, Andromeda spirits him away to Gotham and to his father. He never expected to learn the truth of who she is. Or, Annabeth is Jason's age and a lot more happened in HoH

Junior was named that way to honor Felix (Schadenfreude), so I'm sure you can imagine that Andromeda would have a lot of jumbled emotions as they start to process their relationship with her and the extent of the manipulation. it led to a lot of Andromeda fighting off feelings of resentment, and for a good while Andro was experiencing postpartum depression and regret

but they eventually bonded with her!!

Felix Jr. is generally soft-spoken, a wallflower, and extremely sweet, facing a lot of ridicule for being named after a famous serial killer. eventually she sheds her given name and chooses something different, but I haven't settled on what that is yet... maybe Dahlia? she's also the only sibling that doesn't engage with the public... Andromeda kept them from the public until they were old enough to decide for themselves what they wanted to do, and Felix chose to reject stardom

Aster is pretty laid-back, generally goes with the flow, collects cool rocks and radioactive dishware, has her own heavy metal band (she does vocals and lead guitar), and is constantly followed by a trail of suitors. and totally oblivious to it because they're incredibly aroace.

Chrysanthemum is a DJ! he does world tours and shit as an adult, has his own vlog series where he talks about random bullshit from throughout his day, and he's always down for a party. he definitely enjoys the limelight the most out of the triplets! Chrys is also kind of jealous of all of the attention Felix Jr. gets. like, she doesn't even WANT it!

Andromeda definitely isn't a perfect parent, but they did pretty okay imo
