over the course of the shipping polls, me and a lot of other people have noticed some major issues in the fandom that i honestly believe need to be addressed.
the shipping in the les mis fandom can be incredibly problematic.
what do i mean by this? simple, people are too defensive over their favs or being honest, ship stuff that is straight up illegal (yes it's fiction, but would you really apply some of these ships to real life? No. No you wouldn't). i believe this is a topic that needs to be talked about, hence this post.
to start, i've noticed that especially a lot of the fanbase can get SO incredibly rude about other people's ships winning or putting more effort into winning which? is incredibly unfair and an insane way to behave. i fully understand being disappointed in your fav not making it but the moment it delves onto making subtle hate posts about specific people that’s when you’re taking it too far.
another issue is the fact that a lot of the fandom normalise proshipping. someone needed to say it!
since i've been in the fandom i have seen an unbelievable amount of minor x adult content, incest and a lot of other things. before you say "oh, every fandom has people like that", they do BUT it is too normalised in this fandom? i have NEVER seen anyone talk out about how weird it is for people to be shipping the Thenardier kids (who are all aged under 17) for example, with ANY adult characters (Javert, Montparnasse, the students, members of the Patron-Minette and most of the time this is smut where people do NOT age these characters up! which, even needing to age a character up to ship them is such an insane thing (how do you see a child character and say "they need to be aged up so i can ship them with this adult") because that isn't normal behaviour!!!!
another major issue is that a lot of these characters are reduced down to ships, for example, i could perhaps mention javert and somehow it'll link to valvert and then his character is immediately reduced down to liking valjean or vice versa. same with enjolras and grantaire, ive noticed that grantaire can't be mentioned in a conversation on his own without enjolras being related even though he can be a great character without looking solely at enjoltaire.
i really, really love this fandom but it is so discouraging to interact with it sometimes because of the content i see and how NO ONE else talks about it. maybe it's because i'm younger than most of the fandom and i have a different view on it (im a minor) and for me and others, seeing adults ship children with characters MUCH older than them is so uncomfortable to see!
and yes, tag blocking is a system on tumblr which i use before anyone suggests it, but if you use this feature you'd know it doesn't always work and a lot of these posts/ blogs i've blocked can still appear through other people's reblogs.
i will add, i am NOT saying every single shipper is like this because not everyone is! what i am saying is its a pattern myself and others have started to notice more and more and its honestly really concerning to me. i know that les mis has a lot of different ways people interpret characters, ships, etc, but i really do believe there’s a point where certain things should not be encouraged and it becomes too much and hurtful.
that’s enough for now, i honestly have a lot of thoughts about this topic but… thanks for reading this if anyone did, i'd love to hear others opinions on this because i really do believe this is a subject that NEEDS to be talked about
#les mis#les miserables#none of this is the fault to the mods of the shipping showdown btw to make clear#this is an overall fandom issue that i don’t believe should be so normalised#i’m happy to continue elaborating on this subject if i need as i do have a lot on it

ficlet requests are OPEN!
yes, it's back again! after over a year of having them closed, i'm reopening ficlet frenzy — aka my ficlet requests!
these are shorter fics, meant to be lower stakes and easier for me to write! they'll all be under 1k (unless, of course, something morphs out of hand, though hopefully not) — and due to the shortness of these, i'll be able to write them quicker! so basically: feel free to send in multiple requests, at your fancy!
(i may put in a cap at a certain point if i feel overwhelmed though, but we'll see!)
rules and info: ✤ — please be patient! i can write quickly, but i might not get to things immediately. might not be first come, first serve either, because inspiration is a fickle thing. ✤ — while i generally write most of the requests i get, i may not write everything. if you've sent yours in but it hasn't been written, please send me an ask or a dm off-anon so i can reply privately (because sometimes i may discard a request if it doesn't inspire me or feels too difficult to write) ✤ — feel free to send in multiple requests; i'm perfectly capable of closing requests if it ever gets overwhelming o7 ✤ — please try not to be too specific/detailed, given the short lengths of these... but also please don't be too ambiguous either. give me something to work with within reason! (eg: don't just send in a character name, gimme a bit more to chew on!) ✤ — if you want, feel free to check what prompts i've reblogged in my #prompts tag, and send something in!
what i'm willing to write: ✤ — currently, i am mainly focusing on fantasy high — i am most comfortable writing the bad kids, but i may try to dabble out into other characters if the prompt is inspiring enough! (i am also pretty open to a lot of ships) ✤ — i'm also happy to write stuff connected to the fics i have written before, if anyone wants anything from that! (what-if scenarios, missing scenes, etc...) ✤ — for friends whom i speak to: if i'm familiar with or have read your au/fic/etc, you can send me something pertaining to that o7 ✤ — i am currently not focusing much on my other fandoms, but you are always welcome to try and send something in. i cannot guarantee i will write for them though, given the struggle of remembering to write characters, but i may let the request sit in my inbox until i feel like it!
have fun, and please send something in! (i need to even out the tide of twst fics on my ao3 oTL)

do. you consider the graphic novels to be canon (in some way)? and if so, what do you make of sadie and carter wearing the chb and cj t-shirts respectively at the end of tot i think
I consider the graphic novels to be their own individual canon - they're an adaptation of the source material and follow a different series of events than book canon, so they're in the same category as like the movies, show, or musical to me (and DS game, lmao). They exist completely separate from the canon they're adapting from, so they're their own entities.
The material I consider strictly "canon" is the first series, so Percy Jackson And The Olympians only. Then HoO and TOA as extraneous canon on top of that - sort of a like "recommended but optional." TKC and MCGA also kind of operate as their own canons within themselves but can be linked to main PJO canon, so similar category. Published companion novels and similar material (so like Singer of Apollo) are also optional add-ons.
Stuff like Un Natale Mezzosangue and Nachos After The War where they weren't ever formally published are non-canon official material to me, kind of in the same vein as promotional material released alongside the books (the activity guides and such). The official art exists in the same sphere to me. I also personally consider CHB: Austin's lore to be semi-canon or non-canon official material, because they're actually affiliated with Rick Riordan (he has directly interacted with the camp's activities in the past) and I think it's just kind of cute.
The ReadRiordan articles are just straight up strictly non-canon. They just are. That is just an objective fact about them. I am slightly more lenient towards some of the old official Riordan website's media, like the interactive Argo II map descriptions, just since those descriptions were one-and-done and presumably had to have been approved versus a ton of articles with different anonymous unaffiliated authors. It's at best in the same category as the non-canon official promotional material.
As for Sadie and Carter wearing camp t-shirts - it's a cute cameo! And also kind of interesting in that they're technically one of first official published depictions we have of the camp shirts with any kind of details on them (the old official art doesn't count actually cause that was also bonus material).
#pjo#riordanverse#readriordan#intergalactic-garbage#ask#do i have a graphic novels tag? i cannot remember#i dont think i talk about them enough on their own that they have their own tag#ah well. i think they're neat though. the art is fun in a lot of places and good for edits and stuff lmao#botl and tlo graphic novel Nico is so cute#anyways i know i have weird and oddly specific takes on the canon status of material in the franchise#the reason i categorize PJatO and the other series differently is cause of conflicting details#PJatO is mostly internally consistent#but HoO is a sequel with a lot of retcons and inconsistencies both internally and in the grander scheme#so on and so forth - TKC and MCGA are internally consistent for the most part within themselves but less so in the wider franchise#also part of it for me is based on likelihood that the average reader has. actually read it. cause thats relevant for fandom discussion#in terms of what's canon internally within the franchise like events-wise i have an entirely different analysis of that#but it's still relatively the same - main franchise books yes. adaptation material no because it's adaptation#''canon'' is a very nuanced concept! there's a reason why people argue over it academically all the time!#i am no different!

These are so fun to make.
I make it so hard for myself though. I edit these by hand. Why do I do that. I don't need to do that. I also use BTS pictures for pfps. So I ended up editing a wholeass person out of the back of the Daisy pfp. By hand. Why did I do that. I could've used a different picture. I could've just kept them in. I just over complicated it for literally no reason whatsoever.
Why do I do this to myself. What's my problem. Legitimately.

I'm legally not allowed to interact much with the Hunger Games fandom because I'm an american studies major in my 20s and would disrupt the fragile ecosystem of teenagers engaging with fictional depictions of fascist structures and just war theory.
The other reason is that I would have to immediately combust from Hypocrite Disease because I had self-insert Hunger Games OCs and engaged in shipping discourse, too. That's part of how we engage with depictions of fascist structures and just war theory as teenagers, and enabling that is part of what makes the franchise so special.
This reduces my natural habitat to 2-hour video essays about the cultural geography of Panem (x) and a few select posts, but that's a price I'm willing to pay for conservation.
#ramble#i am purposefully not naming any specific posts or takes that made me physically bite my tongue#because i am not going to stifle that. like even aside from politics. people deserve to engage with their fandoms however they want#especially when theyre young. they dont need me dropping a 10k essay on why their form of engagement is problematic#but this one most of all. this one needs to develop naturally.#“theyre so stupid for missing the point” says the mean voice in my head knowingly ignoring that that IS part of the point#im not tagging the fandom for the same reasons but i assume the tumblr word association crawler catches it anyway#i read the trilogy the first time when i was 13. the first book again in class when i was 16. again for leisure at 23#and now im 27 and reading them again for hyperfixation reasons. and theres still stuff i didnt catch before.#when i was 13-16 i came up with a (fairly obvious) concept for a Hunger Games video game and I always wondered why they didnt made one#(aside from that one facebook idle game thats now defunct)#itd be an almost guaranteed cash cow. you could even do multiplayer. but i get it now. oh boy do i get it now.#still mixed feelings on the movies. i guess theyre as good as they were going to get.#i think one of those hbo franchise adaptation series would work quite well but theyd conflict with the target demographic#but oh man consider if they did all this marketing about a faithful retelling and how brutal and extreme it was#and then throughout the first episode it slowly sinks in that they're not showing anything of Katniss privately.#only the scenes in front of cameras. starts with the reaping. then the chariots. the interviews. only what capitol citizens would see.#the movies kinda muddies the line by having a different tv culture whenever they do capitol view.#but man imagine if they pulled that with a direct imitation of how we do reality tv now. sound effects and talking heads etc#if the hunger games happened today. do you think wed make memes about the dying tributes? (the answer is yes btw)

You ever look at a post and think to yourself that this is the third time now that that specific person’s post feels suspiciously like a subtweet? What a fun feeling to have! Definitely not making me want to scream right now :)

I hate liking a show enough to want to find media on it, but the "media" is so alienating and hostile that it also kinda makes me not want to watch the show.
#I know I say I hate ships and romance#what I really hate is the fandoms behind them#because 99.99999% of the time they're fucking psychotic#and drag their issues into every interaction between characters and froth at the mouth#as soon as anyone says anything that might vaguely further their delusion#and not only are they dicks to other fans but they're dicks to the actors#people want to rant about queerbaiting when it's the fandom twisting everything#like jesus do you have friends do you like at your friends with fondness or platonic love#or is everyone only valuable to you if you can fuck them#I see why the generation behind me has issues maintaining friendships#One: they're absolutionists- there is no gray area and everything is some weird puritanical viewpoint#and two: they're just bad people who do bad things to others and then wonder why nobody wants to be around them anymore#and yes this is a specific fandom but I am not tagging it because I Do Not Like Them

I think it's a counter movement to push back against people that have fallen into mentalities like "I'm not like other girls" where desire to be seen as an individual (removed from their femininity and by extension their femaleness). Specifically, those in the way of putting down girls, women and femmes to make themselves feel better about themselves. That movement to form distance has been twisted due to a human desire to polarise, categorising things into boxes we can label "correct" and "incorrect" /
"good" or "bad".
The apparent nature of the internet is to connecnd it has also become a force that escalates people's beliefs to be more firm or become unyielding on things that don't affect them
As humans(some/most in varying degrees) want to see/seek others whose thought and feelings reflect them irrespective of the personal experience of whoever is in their sights.
The scope of this is vast but I think it can rang from a reductive: "I like dogs. Anyone who doesn't is evil and wrong, they hate children and would harm them if given the chance" to wanting celebrities (often ones you favour) to have the same morals as you.
Perhaps, they desire them to be vocal about something like climate or discrimination.
*
moral compass that views acts on a scale ranking like Dante’s Inferno rather than a tinted spectrum (influenced by personal experience).
Due to algorithms improving and a vague/shallow of understanding (how they are utilised to farm engagement from social media companies), people who have been radicalised (in one area of the internet) begin stumble across content from “the opposing side” as it recognises they share the same topic (without deeper insight since it is automated)
And it feeds back into this cannibalistic cycle, where we see people expressing extreme views that don’t seem grounded in reality.
Sincerely, someone raised (and is still being taught) by the internet.
*I lost this entire chuck/section and then accidentally hit a hard restart instead of an undo… so the flow of it may seem fragmented as I try to write from memory.
“let women date men” “let women shave” “let women be girly and feminine” what alternate reality are you guys living in.

"sexy fanart vs character appreciation"
I find so interesting this recurring connection between a character/person's relationship to sex (as in the activity) and their broadly perceived lack of depth, integrity or intelligence.
I have seen this across multiple fandoms now, and more than just one person each time, and since literary analysis is more my area of expertise than social studies for the real world, I will stick to: fictional characters (I know, big shock from me, on my blog, with mine words)
"I am seeing only sexy drawings, and I enjoy them, but no one seems to appreciate their personality like I do" seems to be, in essence, what these posts say. Respectfully: How the fuck would you know about someone's appreciation of a character from just some fanart? Legitimately, fandom has become so toxic - and I am not taking myself out of that accusation, I've had to catch myself more times than I'd like to admit thinking 'boo, you hate my precious baby angel, you're a meanie!'... or something perhaps less joke-ified... I get being defensive. I mean, they just said something bad about your darling, they started it, right? Maybe. Or maybe we could just lower our blood pressure (which is actually a terrible turn of phrase if you, like me, suffer from chronically low blood pressure) and accept that we don't all have to like and dislike the same things. We don't have to piss on each other for liking or disliking different things. We don't even have to have founded arguments for why we like or dislike things. And we also, and I really need to hear myself say this so listen up, don't have to take it personally when others like or dislike different things from us.
"I don't like Regal, he is boring." Okay. You're wrong, but... you know... okay.
"I really love Gortash, such a bad boy." Okay. Good for you. Couldn't care less about the guy. (I don't actually know what people like in Gortash, so forgive me if I'm way off-mark, I legitimately do not care at all about him, Orin or Thorm beyond killing them for the plot.)
See how easy that was? I took a few deep breaths after typing out that first one (cried and died a little on the inside, but it's fine, Martel will forgive my sins and I will be united with him after death), but I can just accept that we see these characters differently.
Now, I hear you. "What's that have to do with sexy fanart?" The answer is simple and complex at the same time: We all have a relationship to sex.
For some of us it's good.
For some of us it's bad.
Some of us don't really care about it.
Most of us don't share the exact same relationship to sex as each other.
This is going to be a partially meta-relevant example, but mostly he's just right there: Halsin. Halsin is established by the game he is in to be a very sex-positive character. Immediately, upon first flirt, he is all "gosh, would that I could." Like it or not, Halsin has a very high interest in having sex. And not just with people he really likes. In fact, not just with people. And call me crazy, but it doesn't strike me as the same habit-and-compulsion driven sexing that Astarion does. Halsin likes, enjoys and seeks out sex when he wants to. He'll ask to join your existing relationship. He'll ask to join you for a random no-feelings-attached foursome/fivesome with drow prostitutes, even though he clearly has some lingering trauma from his time as a sex-slave to a drow couple.
Sex can be an integral part to a character. This does not make the character one-dimensional. Just like us, a well-written character's relationship to sex can be very complex. It would do us, as a society, well to remember that having an active sex life does not equal being shallow. And celibacy does not make one deep or whatever.
The thing about fictional characters we like is that they mirror us in some way. They have something we can connect to. We can project ourselves onto them and/or learn to understand ourselves a little more through them. If I have sexual trauma and my coping strategy is to be sexually active, then I may a) see myself reflected in characters like Astarion and Halsin and b) focus my lens on that part of them, "hypersexualise" them and share that to the world as a way to work through my own shit, to see myself there but extrapolated. The image of, say, Halsin gives me both a canvas to paint myself and a shield to hold before my most sensitive parts. He is a fictional character. He'll be fine.
In art, we express. Be it drawing/painting, writing, or music-ing(...), we share our lens, our perspective from which we view the character. This can become very explicit, especially in writing, or it can remain very abstract and inaccessible to others, who don't know how to see like we do. I drew a bottom!halsin not so long ago. Did I do it just because "Halsin hot. Halsin bottom hot"? Well, yes, in part. But why do I find that hot? Why as a bottom? Because it expresses something about his character for me. We always get to see him being in charge, taking charge, doing things for the benefit of others. It is (quietly?) expected of him to be a top, both sexually and socially (work with me here, yeah?). I like characters like him to be allowed a break, for them to be able to lean in to being taken care of. Halsin enjoys his lovers enjoying themselves. Nice, him and me both. So you bet your arse I'm going to really enjoy him enjoying himself. Still following? I expressed that, a tiny little character analysis with my sexy fanart. Did you, who complains about the sexualising fanart, see that in my drawing? Nah, you just saw "Wah, you're objectifying my beloved character with your silly little wank-material!" and then you go and post about how disappointed you are that everyone just sees him as a piece of meat and "no one wants to read a few paragraphs of sweet fluff or analysis". Well, here. Since you're such an avid reader, read these 'few paragraphs of analysis'. While you're at it (which you're probably not, let's be honest, you just wanted to be "not like the others") be glad that you can. Because, Brittany Alexander Kay, some of us are disabled and can't. You think I read my own shit? Please, I don't have the spoons to try and whiplash myself through my own writing. It's atrocious! Plus, I already know the points I'm making- but that's not... I'm a terrible reader, let's just leave it there.
Maybe I'm drawing sexy fanart of him because, well, I find him sexy and I want to look at some sexy art. Again, he is a fictional character. He will be fine.
I could also be drawing sexy fanart of him just to get some practise, hone my skills, study anatomy, and post it to get feedback or just to overcome shyness or whatever, I, of course, wouldn't know anything about panicking before posting fanart on the internet, completely foreign concept to me, I am so confident, I never even cried after clicking "post".... /s
"But Kats, you just said you could take a breath and mind your business." Yup, I can. But when it leaves the fictional ("I don't like how hypersexual this character is") and enters the real ("I don't like how you objectify this character"), then I believe it is only adequate to speak my mind. A fictional character will not be affected by your opinions. Real people, however, most definitely are. And since you don't live inside their heads, it seems very presumptuous of you to assume that because someone draws sexy fanart of a character, that they only see them as a piece of pleasure-meat.
Sometimes, there's more to it than you can tell at a glance. Fanart is no less meaningful than gallery art just because it's by a fan and posted on the internet.
Sometimes, it's just porn. And that's fine, too.
#I dread tagging this#fanart#fandom discourse#halsin bg3#I only tag that one specifically because I used him as an example#he lends himself so well to it don't read into it too deep#mature topics#katish stuff#am I looking for a fight? no but also a tiny bit yes#I need to feel something okay judge me for it

I always see people reminiscing about the Good Ole Days and about how antis are a new thing but. . .is that really true? Or am I just being autistic and taking things too literally, and they just mean it's way more of a common debate now than it used to be before, and that the landscape of shipwank has changed?
Idk, it's like I constantly hear about fandom wank and shipwars and censorship from decades ago, and yes I know "shipping/doxxing/censorship has always existed" can co exist with "antis are new" but I think there's still a bit of a comprehension gap on my end.
am i just dumb? What am I missing here? FWIW - I do feel like the context of "anti" has definitely changed. Back in early 2010s tumblr (I cannot speak of other website/platforms) I remember that tagging something as #Anti Donkey Kong didn't mean you think DK is an evil abusive monster and that everyone who likes him/mains him is also an evil abusive monster and that Nintendo is pushing the evil abusive monster agenda. #Anti Donkey Kong would just be character bashing, wank, letting out your grievances about how ugly DK is, etc, but it was really just a tag used for your own personal opinions (and for DK fans to filter out). Whereas now #Anti Donkey Kong would mean please go die and delete all your accounts if you support DK.
So I definitely know that "anti" has a way more intense definition now than it used to - but for some reason I find it a bit hard to grasp just how new this whole anti thing even is in the firstplace. It honestly makes me sad that I've never seen a pre-anti internet, assuming there really was a time before antis.
--
Antis are new. Specifically, the "Conservative Protestantism in a gay hat" thing that that one tumblr post pointed out is new.
We had doxxing in the past. We had masses of shipwank. We also had "How dare you write that m/m ship. It's bad!"
The key is that the "Your m/m ship is bad" crowd used to openly be conservative Christian homophobes who objected to homosexuality itself. Nowadays, they're queer 20-somethings who like m/m ships but object to gay sex.
It's the anti-kink, anti-fantasy brigade coming from "our side" instead of the outside, essentially. It's respectability politics about "Sempai will love me if I just sanitize The Community and kick out the icky weirdos". It's personal disgust masquerading as morality where once it would have been masquerading as intellectual superiority.
It's a product of queerness being more public and tolerated overall. In the past, a lot of spaces devoted to m/m shipping had to be aggressively in favor of contentious fiction because the existence of anything m/m was itself contentious. There was plenty of "Well, my gay best friend said ___ is unrealistic, and my slash is good, unlike that of you plebes!" There was much less "Fujoshi means fetishizer".
Of course, I'm comparing the 90s internet to now or the mid 00s Livejournal fandom to Tumblr of this past decade. It really depends on whether Ye Olden Times was five years ago or twenty five.
The modern use of the term 'anti' did indeed grow out of the old habit of tagging your hate. As the default cultural mode shifted from "My NOTP is dumb" to "My NOTP is problematic", the usage changed. At some point, antis started getting offended by their self-applied term and pretending that the other side inflicted it on them. This is revisionism. Fiction-is-not-reality had some writeups with citations in the past.
The big shifts were happening around 2012-2016. The long slide into puritywankers being everywhere has only continued since then, but that's where the tipping point seems to have been. TikTok exacerbates this nonsense, and there are clearly plenty of people who are anti-queer and only weaponizing clueless queer youth.
The big shift is that liking m/m used to weed out most of the worst people, and now it attracts lots of them who will not fucking go away because they like the same ship, just the hand-holdy, no dicks can touch ever version.
They spend their time bleating about how AO3 should have been built for them and how anti-censorship activism doesn't matter... because they've grown up in a fandom world dominated by AO3, which shelters them from the reality that the "Ewww, all m/m sucks!" crowd is everywhere on other sites to this day.
That's probably why the shift is when it is. Certain aspects of mainstream queer acceptance were on the rise just as AO3 was getting big. But at the same time, the world is shit and everyone has anxiety they self-medicate through rage and security theater around sniffing out The Bad People.

Ever since I got that lovely anon asking for the best smut I've ever read, it got me thinking about some of my favorite smut creators in general.
So here is a very non-exhaustive list of fan-fucking-tastic smut writers and artists I've come across in the HP fandom that weren't mentioned (shamefully) in my last batch. Feel free to add to the list! We must keep the people fed.
xoxo go take a sip of cold water girl
WRITERS
@spookymoonie
Lord Espooky came into this fandom guns a-blazing with their kink headcanon a day for Wolfstar and it has spiraled from there. They GET IT. He has a super well-organized masterlist pinned to his tumblr ft tons of different kinks, fic lengths, scenes, etc. Go. Now.
@fiveht
The definition of IYKYK. Daddy kink isn't super my thing, but Five makes me enjoy it. If you vibe with age gap daddy Remus and pretty boy Sirius, their Adore series is a must-read. They also have a stellar A/B/O Wolfstar fic plus podfic and write some Marvel too!
@greenvlvetcouch
An absolute legend in this fandom. Wolfstar, Jeggy, Rosekiller. Gritty, chewy, embodied sex.
@emeryhall
Emery writes sex the way some people breathe. Like it's just part of the narrative. It's SO punchy. And also she is the queen of Crack Smut.
@kaaaaaaarf
Patron saint of Wolfstar hatefucks. mic drop.
@cancerravenclaw
We snagged MK over to Wolfstar from the clutches of Dramione. Her series "mk's kink exposé" could also be called "celine's kink exposé." I'll just leave that there.
@wolfpants
Everything they create is magic, but they are especially known for rare pairs and Dronarry.
WRITERS AND ARTISTS
@aspiring-artist-em
The queen of Lesbian Wolfstar. Both art and fic. Also queen of humiliation and pain kink and Walburga psychological trauma. ye be warned.
@upthehillnsfw / @upthehillart
I am afraid no one is ready for this art. Truly. Tons of different ships, positions, acts. I gasp every time. And their Pansmione fic is epic (which I have talked about before).
ARTISTS
@industrations
I highly recommend getting on Indi's Patreon so you can enjoy their NSFW drawings, mostly Wolfstar and Jegulus, occasional Rosekiller. Too many iconic moments to count.
@waxingrunes
The officially-sponsored artist of Five's Adore series. Look, their work is nothing short of indulgent. Shhhh don't worry about the physics just let it happen. And by It I mean Remus' big dick hands.
@basiatlu
By beloved. The one. The only. Bosh's drawings are so ALIVE. They leap off the screen. Her Drarry is nothing less than iconic. She also dabbles in other characters/ships like Wolfstar and Blackcest. Siriusly, you can't go wrong.
DRARRY SMUT
OKAY, Drarry people. There are so so many excellent Drarry smut writers it is impossible to name them all. Here are but a tiny handful I have pulled from my bookmarks. I'm happy to rec specific fics if asked :)
@cavendishbutterfly, @bixgirl1, @l0vegl0wsinthedark, @shiftylinguini, @kbrick, @fluxweeed, @academicdisasterfic
MORE
I'm tagging those other creators from older asks because I can't put this list out there without them on it <3

I got bored so here's a little get-to-know-you tag game I think could be fun :3
Name(s)
Pronouns
Star sign
# of siblings & fun facts about them (if you have any)
# of pets & their names
Fandoms
Favorite color
Favorite song
Favorite author (of anything readable-- books, fanfics, zines, webtoons, whatever!)
Hobbies
Favorite fic type
Favorite holiday
Do you have any partner(s)? (romantic, qpp, anything!)
Fun facts about you / anything extra you wanna share!
────────
Name(s): Loki (highly preferred), Elye
Pronouns : they/them mostly, he/she okay too
Star sign: Pisces
# of siblings: I've got 2! An older sister and a younger sibling. The fun fact about them is that they're also both queer; in fact, my mom is too. The only non-queer person in my immediate family is my dad.
# of pets: 4 cats! Phoebe & Frankie are our girls, Lenny and Murray are our boys :3
Fandoms: MCU (kind of), BSD, OFMD, Ranboo (does his fanbase count as a fandom?)
Fav. color: Don't have one
Fav. song: Aurora Borealis by Lemon Demon
Fav. author: Alice Oseman
Hobbies: singing, acting, drawing, writing, procrastinating
Fav. fic type: Fluff, definitely. I am a sucker for well written coffee-shop and flower-shop aus, too. Smut's fine, but only if it's romantic. I can't do angst if there's no comfort.
Fav. Holiday: Hanukkah or Halloween! I love autumn and winter
Partners?: Yes! I have a girlfriend (queerplatonic) who I love very much, and a boyfriend (romantic) who I love very much :]
Fun facts:
- Even though I'm a cat person, I really, really want a dog.
- I actually used to play sports. Because I don't do gendered leagues anymore, I don't play, but I've been looking for mixed/gender-neutral/queer sports teams. Baseball and basketball specifically!
- I started questioning my identity in 2019; I'm no closer to finding a label now than I was then. The difference is, now I don't want a label. I just am. :]

new event alert!!!! what is this?
Inspired by my other event, @treebarktitleswap I, @thatapolloguy have decided to run a full fandom event (and there WILL be mod applications soon because I am going to lose my mind if i do it alone)
basically, people think of titles! it can be anything from a song lyric to something a streamer said on stream, or something from your own wonderful mind. they submit these titles to us. We compile the titles into a list.
artists and writers or any other kind of creative will then have time to claim the titles. It’s low stakes non-competitive, but artists and writers can only pick 3 at a time just for their own sake.
artists must draw a sketch, or more if they want to.
writers must write 300 words, or more if they want to.
if they need to drop a prompt at any time or swap it out for a new one, that’s a-okay. its intended to be low stakes, non-competitive
presumed faqs
firstly, before I jump into some questions, this event will function on don’t like don’t read. I personally find it far too difficult to moderate things based on ever-changing creator boundaries and fandom accepted stances on RPF. With that said, the archive warnings of Rape/Non-con and Underage will not be allowed, and additionally incest and adult/minor relationships will not be allowed.
Are NSFW works allowed? No, for ease of modding, this event is SFW only, although mature rated works are allowed as long as they are not rated mature for sexual content. Implied sexual content is allowed.
Is shipping allowed? Yes, shipping is allowed.
Is RPF allowed? Yes, RPF is allowed.
if you have specific questions about a tag or a genre that is or isn’t allowed, shoot me an ask.
this event will be accepting all MCYT fandoms.

Plain text list can be found under the cut, along with many other things!!
Wow! Year three!
This is the third year I’m running a Monster March event, and excited!! Also I got the prompt list out super early so theres’s plenty of time!
The collection can be found here, but until then, here are the rules and FAQs. Oh and I guess posting guidelines. The rules and FAQs are taken right from the previous collections, with a few new additions.
Rules:
1. Please use archive warnings when they apply. On that note, Please tag your works appropriately and completely.
2. Be polite to other posters. That’s fairly simple, I think.
3. Don’t overwork or stress yourself. Please.
4. DO NOT use GenAI. Or at least be smart enough to not mention it.
5. All works must be newly created for this event. Sorry, no old or recycled works are allowed.
6. That’s it. Those are the rules.
Frequently Asked Questions
This is a lie I’ve only been asked one of these
Q: Do I have to fill every day?
A: Abso-fucking-lutely not. You could do one day, or you could do seven, or fifteen, or twenty seven, or all thirty-one! You could even do multiple works for each day, if you were so motivated and ambitious. The most important parts are to have fun and not stress yourself.
Q: Is this event 18+ only?
A: I’d prefer it if it was, but I don’t think I can stop people from contributing. Content-wise, no. Post whatever form of monster appreciation you want!
Q: Does my work have to be a certain length?
A: Nope!
Q: Can I post art for this?
A: Yes. I will love you if you do.
Q: Can I post the first chapter of a work but not finish it before March ends?
A: Of course!
Q: Can I combine this with another event?
A: As long as it’s fine with the other event, yes.
Q: Does each day have to be its own separate work? Can I make a chapter for every day?
A: You can, if you want, make one long work. I personally recommend not doing that, especially if you’re crossing fandoms and relationships. Also more individual works means more kudos. But you do you.
Q: Can I write or draw X monster instead of Y monster?
A: No
Q: Is there open posting/Can I post at a later date?
A: Yes! Post whenever you want. I’ll officially be closing the collection in September, so you have until then 😁
Q: Am I allowed to write or draw X tag?
A: Yes. I’m just hosting the collection and running the event. Please tag it, though.
Q: Why do you allow X?!
A: Again, I’m just hosting the collection and running the event.
Q: Does this have to be for a specific fandom? Are Original Works allowed?
A: It can be any fandom! It can be an original work! Let your imagination run free!
Q: Does it have to be about sex?
A: Nope. Love comes in many forms, and this is about appreciating monsters.
Q: Can I use GenAI?
A: No. You cannot. Not for writing, not for your summary, not for art. I guess you could use it for prompts but maybe just find a prompt generator instead. Or send me a message, I can help too. This is about human creativity.
Q: What do you mean by “only new works?” Can I continue a series?
A: I mean that everything posted must be new. It can be part of an existing series! It cannot, however, be a new chapter in an already existing work.
Q: What you have for day X isn’t a monster!
A: To you. I asked one personally and they wanted to be on the list.
Posting Guidelines for Tumblr
My only asks for, if you post on tumblr, are to tag for triggers, and that you @ me. Oh and I suppose if whatever you’re posting has multiple parts to link them to each other.
I’m going to rb as many posts as I get, but if I miss a day, feel free to let me know! If it was a multi-parter, I’m only going to rb the first one, because I have a tendency to get them all mixed up, and then people miss certain parts and. Yeah.
So, tag for triggers, @ me, and link your multi-parters together.

okay I am not involved in the current call out drama personally but it's made its way to my Twitter feed and im so genuinely confused because have none of you interacted with fandom before?
yes, the jrwi boys explicitly stated that there is a hard boundary against rpf about them and that they do not want to be shown nsfw art/ fics of their characters. these are reasonable boundaries to have, and they should 1000% be respected.
HOWEVER: they also explicitly said that they could not stop people and they're RIGHT. fandom is, at its core, weird. people write weird, gross, and even immoral shit all of the time. thats what tagging systems, scrolling, or blocking fan creators is for. for example: i really hate arthur being shipped with either of the twins or the twins being shipped together. i think its gross. so i exclude tags, and i scroll. its that easy! weird stuff will always exist on the internet, and nsfw works in the jrwi tag have some of the highest hits. many people read and write these things casually, and that isn't inherently wrong.
it's completely understandable that the jrwi guys dont want to see the characters that they put pieces of themselves into in nsfw situations. SO don't show them!!! as a general rule, you should not be showing, @ing, or sending creators of any media your fanwork, especially if it's suggestive or gorey. THAT is what a boundary looks like. fandom is not for creators anyways, and involving them in it tends to break many creators boundaries, even in more innocent situations (as a general pattern I've observed)
the person who made the call out post is a minor. they are likely steeped deeply in purity culture and have not interacted with fandom much. HOWEVER, calling specific people out by name is not a cool move. these are not bad people. they aren't being bigoted or doing harmful things irl or in the community, and their fan content is relatively harmless as well. they are simply creating things that people feel uncomfortable with on a personal level, and instead of blocking or scrolling, people have decided that they are morally bad people. and that's just... wrong?
sorry about this rant but writing "weird" or "gross" things is not a cancelable offense; it's a part of being in fandom. I am begging anyone who is genuinely upset by this to click on a supernatural or mha tag on ao3 and scroll for 3 seconds. I promise people writing correctly tagged gore or porn that will never be seen by people who don't want to see it is not the end of the world.
love you to the people who got called out and have been getting hate anons if you see this. yall are cool as hell
