Look I go by CQL canon where the writers decided that lwj has to be happy about jc constantly yelling in his home bc wei ying is so happy to have him there, they can work it out! Wen Ning went from KILL ON SIGHT to "he has to sit outside" in a week and that was BEFORE he saved Jin Ling's life! I believe in a future where all of my faves can yell their way into some kind of harmony and absolutely atrocious family dinners. It takes a few years but they're immortal it works out

JC loud in the Cloud Recesses leaves LJY with stars in his eyes. He immediately starts a campaign for an uncle-sharing program, because LSZ and JL have lots and no one is sharing of their own volition.

WN being 'banned' from an increasingly dwindling list of areas in and around LP. "He has to sit outside" morphs to "within ten feet of the gate" to "not past the first buildings" to "not in the training courtyards" to "definitely not the family wing" to "fine, but he can't leave WWX's room" to "oh, you're all staying in Baling after this night hunt? What-is Lotus Pier not up to your standards? The very nerve of you . . ."

WN's entry into the inside of LP is contingent on the agreement that if he and JC spars, no one is allowed to get mad at JC for accidentally stabbing him and in event of an accident, no Jiang disciple is allowed to avenge their sect leader's ripped and ruined training robes. This leads to a lot of money being spent at the Tailor of Yunmeng's shop and many many petty instances of JC just straight up poking Sandu into WN's flesh while WN insists that 'it doesn't even hurt' and make passive aggressive insinuations about JC's stabbing ability.

(One of our collection of loveable assholes at some point goes 'look, I know it's not a slab of rock near where your shixiong is trying to plunge to his death-but you should be better at stabbing Fierce Corpses. You're a sect leader, man!' and JC promptly throws said asshole into the lake and locks himself in his room to totally not cry about his feelings being hurt).

I remember I saw someone say that wn always owns a coffee shop in these AUs, and to that I say, yeah pretty much. (ft. wangningxian and jyl x jzx x wq)

Wen Ning owns a cute little coffee shop! He supports his baby cousin, Wen Yuan, for the first couple years.

Wen Qing runs her own practice, for children though, across the street, and three very frequent customers happen to be two Jins & a Jiang, if you get who I’m talking about. 0-0

jl and wy (turned lsz later, long story) probably played a little together as kids but it’s not super important

Anyways, wn’s coffee shop probably burns down or something in a series of arson attaccs against the Wen family. Wq’s practice doesn’t get destroyed though, and she gets some help from a certain extremely rich couple who used to go to her.

But wn is super worried bc his wittle bb cousin is gone 0-0

And then a Yuan runs off and falls into a river and dies.

Jk jk, he almost dies! And loses his memory. He’s about 6 at the time, btw. Some stranger (COUGH WWX COUGH) finds this little baby dRowNinG and saves him, bc ofc only wwx would be suspiciously near a river in the middle of nowhere.

Wwx takes keeps him for a couple days, but realizes that he has no clue how to parent, so he takes him to the Lan orphanage.

(Yes, the Lans run an orphanage and you can take this hc from my dead, cold hands.)

So lqr, running this orphanage, takes lsz in. He also gives lwj a look when he finds out what this child was named, but... shush.

Lsz grows up under the amazing teaching of lqr, probably learns an instrument or two from lxc, gets parented w/bunnies by lwj, and uselessly crushes on ljy. Like he does.

And then time skip to him in college, and he wants to start a coffee shop bc it reminds him of his childhood, that he doesn’t remember.

Oyzz, who is jl’s friend goddamnit let jl have friends both his parents are alive, drags him to every coffee/tea shop in the area bc he has an obsession with good drinks. Which eventually leads them to lsz’s cozy little tea shop.

It’s moderately popular, sometimes ljy will sing for entertainment (bc yesss 🥺) and it’s pretty good! Lsz is out of college (so 22, bc he didn’t take a masters) and started the shop, ljy’s doing god knows what (maybe signed a record deal w/ someone who went to the cafe and heard him singing? a dumb luck sorta thing. Or perhaps lxc has a production company :eyes:)

but ljy sometimes helps out or just hangs around the shop.

Anyways, oyzz likes his voice a big lot, befriends ljy, and now jl has to go there every weekend bc he’s whipped for oyzz.

He also gets to watch oyzz and ljy be big gay for each other, so yeah. Huh. jl sorta befriends lsz, bc ofc he does. They’re both a lil sad, but fun!

Also, jl and wn are pretty close now bc jl has wayyyyy too many uncles.

Lsz doesn’t remember wwx, but lwj sure as hell does.

Surprisingly, wwx and wn, going out on a not-date, as just-friends, end up going to the tea shop & wn is surprised at how similar it looks to his coffee shop from all those years ago.

But wn is kinda sus at how similar it looks. He thinks maybe they went to his coffee shop before, and orders tea. But then he sees the one barista and thinks “wait a second...”

Bc the barista (lsz) looks scarily familiar, he just doesn’t know why. Oyzz is just over in a corner sipping his bubble tea.

One day, after the tea shop closes and the junior quartet are the only ones left, and lsz asks to speak to jl. Alone.

Ljy and oyzz are looking at them like 👀 👀 but they leave together to go to some bookstore or something, idk.

So now lsz and jl are alone. They’re sorta friend-acquaintances, but now jl’s a little confused as to why tf lsz wants to talk to him.

Lsz explains that jl seems familiar (coughiwonderwhycough) and says that he lost his memory at a young age and that wwx found him. jl is starting to put the puzzle together.

Lsz basically asks him out on a date, but neither of them know or think it’s a date, so jl agrees.

They both go there seperate ways, and when oyzz and ljy find out the next day, they realize that they’re going on a date.

Ljy is very excited for lsz!! But what is that pain he feels—

Ofc, they stalk jl and lsz on their date, bc they are stupid and don’t realize they might have feelings for them. At least they realize their feelings for each other. Ljy & oyzz get together!! :))

They’re also oblivious though so they don’t notice a Ling & Sizhui’s :/

Wn ends up taking over the tea shop so lsz can go off and get his masters

Eventually the junior quartet stumble into a relationship ! Hopefully ! it’s really quite a mess until sizhui gets a dna test taken at wn’s request. found family turned actual family is an old trope, but one we will accept <3

bc zyx would absolutely not survive as jiaojiao unless given many years’ worth of buffer between start of canon. and then she would not.

if transmigrated in from birth and develops attachment to wang family and is sent to the wens as a way to gain favor/protect the family, that’s legit the original zhu family plotline except no one would keep her from being sent.

she and wen qing would be eyeing each other like ‘i think you’re... and i think you think i’m... but are you really... hmmm’ and z!jiaojiao would try to engage to make friends. somehow, she does (esp bc z!jiaojiao is actually considerate towards wen ning). potential wq/z!jj for a bit??? they’d get along due to tired older sister energy, at the very least (like what dbd!zyx unconsciously radiates lol)

z!jiaojiao pull out every bit of guile, fake softness, gossipy mean bitch from inside to survive. reluctantly, aim to sleep with wen chao so that he’d bring her along and she tries to mitigate his damage. somehow, succeeds in landing wen chao - probably by virtue of his need to get his dick wet rather than any seduction on her part.

when she gets sent to lotus pier to instigate its invasion, is more like a long-suffering secretary than an ‘uppity mistress’. mme yu still slaps the shit out of her, z!jj still has to call in wzl, and lotus pier falls with the yunmeng trio on the run.

THEN. aims to pull off the craziest plot - post-fall of lotus pier, assassinate the wen contingent while they celebrate. get the jiang parental units’ corpses out, and between wen qing, wen ning, and the small subset of wens loyal to them, z!jiaojiao uses her familiarity with wen chao’s mannerisms to forge letters to keep wen ruohan and wen xu from suspecting anything was amiss on the southern front until it was too late.

(no golden core nonsense, but no demonic cultivation. the war goes on longer. the fronts remained fractured, since there’s no incentive for the yunmeng trio to head east with their land not actually occupied)

the yunmeng trio and ... wen trio? i guess? work together to quietly reclaim the territory around them. switch out with more wens willing to turncoat. and with z!jj proving that she’s not all boob no brain as her looks and association had dictated, she’s able to steer wwx into thinking about making the yin tiger seal anyways. 

lwj stomps in, trying to frantically find any hint of survival wrt to wwx, and finds... six schemers. wangxian wartime misunderstandings ensue :( and bonus lwj-vinegar bc of wwx’s proximity with wn

wwx and the jiangs come in late to the war but turn the tide. wen qing’s faction of wens all ‘join’ the jiang bc with chinese ham gaa caan (bulldoze the entire family line), there’s no surviving the war with the surname wen. plus side--this ingress of sect members makes yunmeng jiang look bulkier and makes it easier for jc to maneuver as a brand new sect leader.

jgs def tries for the seat of power post-war, but it is less of a snowball of tragedy and just... political shenanigans. with a bunch of gay pining from lwj, and other non-lethal intersect drama. anyways, that’s no longer z!jj’s problem, she’s finally learning how to use a sword and planting lotuses. lotii? 

even tho jc’s the sect leader, wq+jyl+z!jj end up as big sister bosses. it’s great.

(until jgy catches sight of the mysterious healer of yunmeng jiang and one of the sect leader’s personal servant. he could... start something to elevate himself in his father’s eyes.)

I’m here for the ‘swords not as pets’ agenda. Swords as cars: solid, get you from place to place, potentially dangerous, customizable, something people name. Wwx losing his license taking the fall for a mistake jc made (idk, dui maybe?) and just choosing to mod the hell out of a self-balancing scooter or segway or something so it goes dangerously fast. Alternatively: spending 3 months inventing the first functional actual levitating hoverboard, with an insane top speed. 3 months in the (1/2)

sawdfert this is delightful!! i saw segway and i immediately started wheezing,, there was no time for laughing i went straight to the wheezing. i think it would make more sense if wwx lost his car and got a motorcycle? like hoverboards and segways are cool but motorcycles have that big reputation of being dangerous and there’s the whole ‘rebellious teen gets a motorcycle and becomes a delinquent’ thing? like motorcycles are fast and if you crash it’s so much worse than if you were in a car and there’s no airbags or anything. but also?? wwx rocking up to school on a segway while playing his flute like the shittiest entrance ever? iconic. but let’s stick with chenqing as a motorcycle/scooter (motorcycle-esque scooter not the ones that try and take out your ankles).

okay so all the major sects are super rich so in a modern au it would make sense for all the sect heirs to get cars. i’m not saying that jc and wwx complain about jzx being stuck-up bc he was given a porsche for his birthday even though they were also given cars for their birthdays,,, but i am. at first it would have been this major point of contention between yzy and jfm bc wwx isn’t even their son so why is he getting a car too but wwx is like ah it’s so i can drive jc and jyl to school! you wouldn’t want their cars being left outside the school all day would you? someone in my maths class had their car get keyed and it was super expensive to fix,, and yzy is like yes wwx may have a car only to protect my children from parking hassles,, also wwx must pay for his own parking. so wwx and jc both get given cars for their bdays.

now wwx gets bored easily,, so you could translate him being a cultivation genius to him being really good at driving. im talking that jc is still getting the hang of switching gears and wwx is out there casually drifting around corners. (this does mean he has to get new tyres really frequently but he’s friends with wen ning, whose family runs the mechanics that wwx likes to go to so he just helps around the shop for a bit and gets a discount (yes its the family discount)). anyway wwx really enjoys driving, also! he just rocks up to wen ning’s place one day and is like dude, i wanna pimp my ride, wanna help and wen ning is like heck yeah. so wwx pays for some upgrades with his own money and he spends hours doing some custom work to make it look cool,,

it’s all going well until wwx and jc go to wen chao’s party one night and jc gets absolutely sloshed,,, like completely hammered. wwx had walked in, grabbed a cup of lemonade or something and was gonna hang with his friends but lwj was there for some reason so he spent the entire night talking to him in the back garden. which means that when jc wanted to leave he saw wwx hanging out with lwj and went ew gross and just decided to drive home himself. he crashes and when wwx comes home the next day jc gets super pissed at him bc he was meant to be the designated driver and if he hadnt been screwing around with lwj jc wouldnt have tried to drive home and now his parents will be super pissed and wwx is like woah chill my grandmother is a mechanic and she can fix this up just give me a couple of days. 

so wwx goes to baoshan sanren mechanics (which is just the back entrance to the wen sibling’s mechanics) and spends the next three days getting rid of all of his customisations and mods so his car looks exactly like jc’s. does he cry when he has to spend like five mins spraying the inside of the car with axe body spray to get the jc stench going on? maybe a little. but he does it and returns the car to jc! and jc is like oh wow my car is fixed, your grandma is a miracle worker and wwx is like haha yeah (:

anyway wwx mysteriously and suddenly discovers a passion for public transport,, it’s a good way to stay humble jiang cheng, he says, also i used all my petrol money buying porn from nhs or whatever. anyway wwx is doing the whole pt to school thing but then one afternoon wen chao and wzh find him and idk maybe the party got too rowdy so the cops came and wc got in trouble with his dad? he assumes wwx called the cops on him so he shoves wwx into his car and drives him out to the middle of no where and dumps him in the burial mounds scrap metal recycling place or whatever. 

the train line isn’t running that day and there’s no phone service either so wwx is stuck there overnight. he gets super bored. so what does he do? he finds an abandoned scooter and starts scavenging for parts. he’s not expecting it to actually work but by the time the sun rises he’s found some actually decent parts and he thinks that he could get it working. tbh he kinda forgets to go back home and just walks into town to buy some food and then goes back and continues fiddling with the scooter. he doesnt live there for the three months but the people in yiling just accept that this random teenager has all but moved into their scrap heap and adopt him anyway. so he goes and visits the burial mounds every day after school so none of his friends or family really see him anymore. 

until! one day he rocks up to school on his scooter. scooters,, are kinda like sad pathetic motorcycles,, but wwx mods his scooter with like a powerful engine and new steering and everything so people see it and go oh! a motorcycle! even though it’s not actually (can you do that with a scooter? idk but suspend your disbelief pls). so lwj is like hnnngg wwx in a leather jacket on a motorcycle but also wei ying, stop riding a motorcycle, *enter statistics about motorcycle crashes here* and wwx is like no! you cant take chenqing away from me. and jc is pissed bc they were meant to be brothers and have matching cars and be able to work on them and give them cool paint jobs together! but now wwx has this bike which has been modded to hell and back and refuses to drive his car bc it’s not as cool as his bike. so we get to have the whole ‘everyone thinks wwx is doing something dumb and dangerous’ bc he has a motorcycle and why isnt he just driving his car anymore? but we also get to keep some of the nuance of the demonic cultivation bc yeah it’s more dangerous than driving in a car but wwx doesnt have a car anymore and scooters are a loottt safer than motorcycles (if my two seconds of research is correct).

so! wwx won’t abandon chenqing and he did most of his work using scrap parts so he goes back to the wens and is like wen ning my best bro check her out and he’s like oooooooh and they start modding chenqing together. wen qing doesnt know why wwx is constantly over at their shop all the time but jc keeps arguing with wwx and wwx grows more distant with his family and friends bc he’s making ~bad decisions~ and a motorcycle is a gateway to idk teen delinquent shenanigans like smoking and doing graffiti so he’s kinda ousted from respectable rich people society and wen qing is like i have two (2) brothers now and they’re adorable not that i’ll ever tell them that. and wwx modding chenqing got him a reputation in yiling like everyone saw him walk in one day and then drive out with this sexy sexy bike so people start coming to him for mods and stuff and wwx earns the title yiling patriarch and wen ning, his trusted best friend and helper, gets called the ghost general bc idk he helps a lot but the customers never meet him. so they become some dynamic duo for car and bike mods!

anyway,, yzy delivers him an ultimatum one day: the car or the bike (or more accurately: the family or the bike) but wwx can’t drive the car anymore so he just gets quietly disowned and drops out of school. (we’ll save jzxuan the suffering in this au he can keep his car). he goes to the wens and theyre like hey whats up? wait no you cant live in a scrap heap,, not even if you buy a tent,,, just live with us please. and then wwx gets adopted by the wens and idk i want them to have a happy ending so wwx and wn go off and do some actual mechanic and modding training with some expert (sqdcfgt imagine if it was the real baoshan sanren who just happened to be in the market for some apprentices and saw wwx and wn’s work and was like them and then later realised it was her grandson). so they get their apprenticeship and they disappear off somewhere for a year or two - when wwx had been disowned he’d deleted everyone’s contacts and was like if they text me i’ll add them back but im not gonna have a contact list cemetery. (no one contacts him). 

eventually the 13 years pass and wwx has been helping the wens raise their little nephew a-yuan who is showing a real aptitude for being a mechanic even though he’s just a kid and just generally enjoying the quiet life of being a mechanic while doing fun mods and lil baby projects. then one day lwj’s car breaks down while he’s driving through the area and he calls up the local mechanic and guess who rocks up? it’s wwx. and then we get to have them dance around each other and wwx being like lwj doesnt trust me, he’s just sitting here and watching me work all day ): and lwj is like dont let him go dont let him go dont let him go,, and eventually they get their romance but this is way too long already so im im gonna end this here

ling had approached him when they (the quartet) were in the stage of “oh shit, wait we’re actually doing this, okay” to ask for advice

aka ling burst into jc’s office, shoved all his notes into his dad’s jiujiu’s hands nd started explaining everything (rambling is a better word for it)

“what the fuck, a-ling?”

“i don’t know, it’s just kinda, happening?”

a heavy sigh, “okay, so here’s what you guys are missing—“

and he, being the head of Yunmeng Jiang Corp., gives him the rundown on how to own and operate a business and how difficult it rlly is

he’s basically the reality check for the rest of the quartet who don’t know shit abt business nd helps coach them through the process

(they all start calling him uncle during this, but they’ll never call him that to his face)

every step of the way, ling always double checked with jc just to be safe jiujiu, i can’t fuck this up!!!

(jc loves that jl is asking him for advice on this, that he can still rely on him that jl isn’t gonna push him away now that he’s an adult)

so when jc actually walks into the cafe opening day, the pride radiating from him is insurmountable as the quartet greet him at the counter

this got long, so more under the cut

jingyi has extremely absentee parents who would regularly promise to be at things for him and would always last minute cancel

this time is no different

he basically accepted that his parents weren’t gonna show up that day, but when they just never came, part of him was crushed bc in the past at least they would text him

and he feels stupid for hoping that they would come when they never did in the past and really he shouldn’t’ve even though to hope bc why would they change now when there has been countless opening nights, performances, even graduation that they never went to why would they suddenly change for this—

however, with having grown up with sizhui, wwx, lwj, nd wn (that’s right, wangningxian rights in this au) are used to filling the parental role for jingyi and this time is no different

(god, i might have to make a separate post abt the family dynamics in this au, even though this is technically part of my modern au but not really? i’ll worry abt that later)

wwx was practically bouncing off the walls when they were getting ready to head over and was vibrating in his seat, excitedly chatting the entire ride over

wen ning, head baker at a super popular bakery in the city, was excited to try jingyi’s food after countless late-night phone calls finalizing recipes nd giving him advice on how to run a kitchen

lan wangji was more,,,,,concerned abt this whole venture bc they’re barely out of college, only one of them rlly knows a lot abt business, and bc jingyi nd sizhui are going into performance-based careers they’re not going to be able to be around to help all the time nd even emwhen they are there, they can’t do a lot for the business bc of their main careers

nd when the three of them walk into the coffee shop and are greeted by jingyi’s voice singing over the speakers, sizhui taking another customer’s order, and zizhen lighting up when he spots them over the coffee machine, they all just know that they’ll frequent here more than they originally planned

(they become the most regular customers)

side note: zizhen is also in charge of hiring on new employees nd wangji helps guide him through what to look for, what to be wary of, how to conduct an interview, all that

while zizhen is already fairly organized, wangji gives him little tips on what to take note of and always resupplies zizhen with notebooks whenever he fills one up (zizhen bullet journals nd has a separate journal for the coffee shop nd he fills so many journals)

zizhen is rlly receptive to wangji’s nd jiang cheng’s help bc his father does not support this whole coffee shop thing, and makes sure that zizhen is aware of the fact

zizhen is both crestfallen and infuriated nd vents to jin ling his entire lunch break because he didn’t even try the coffee a-ling, didn’t even place a goddamn order, if he’s so pressed abt this business going down in two weeks, why not, you know, order smth to make sure that doesn’t fucking happen—

so after those first two weeks of being open (nd the shop decidedly not going out of business, thank you very much) jin ling emails a copy of their stats that clearly show how successful their shop is as well as a link to an article written by a local newspaper about their shop and how they were quickly growing to be an incredibly popular spot, with the email title being, “We Are Not Going Out of Business” —there is no other message attached

zizhen goes to her to vent and rant bc there’s just smth abt verbalizing all ur thoughts to someone willing to listen that just makes them easier to process, you know?

Rant: ChenQingLing is a disgrace.

Disclaimer: this is a rant, and it’s antiCQL. So those who like it, pls ignore and refrain from posting your counter arguments to me. I just want to vent my displeasure of this live action and only welcome those who agree with me to comment and share.

Being a massive fan of MDZS, I just have to get this off my chest. I am sick of all these brainwashing and gaslighting by so called “fans” of the original work who are singing high praises for this shambles of an adaptation.

The live action series should be ashamed of themselves because they’re simply using the popularity and following from the franchise and totally disrespecting the core of the story and characters. Before these nincompoops come and wax lyrical about adaptations being different from the source material, there is an obvious difference between a genuine adapatation to screen whereby the major plot lines are maintained, the core stories are maintained, the character histories are maintained and superfluous or extrapolated materials are minimised, also where there are obvious gaps of non-explained or non-elaborated space only is where things are created and imagined. Whereas a rubbish excuse of an adaptation is what CQL has done. Because what it did was to use the characters names, take the fantasy world setting and cool elements, and then totally walk over the storyline by completely meshing and mixing and stirring everything and everyone into a big pot of dog poo. And testament to them just using the franchise’s popularity to milk money and attention is by completely unashamedly BL-bait with all the WangXian interactions including many that are either not in the book or extras, or not in the right context or scene, or completely nonexistent and made up. And then the shameless tag that it’s just a platonic bromance since censorship in China wouldn’t allow this. Right.

So let’s talk about the plot. So WWX is not some grandmaster of demonic cultivation since it has already been going on behind the scenes with Xue Yang casually helping WRH practise some hardcore demonic cultivation and the fact that the Tiger Stygian Amulet is just some relic that’s been around for ages. Nothing to do with WWX’s ingenuity and talent for harnessing the resentful energy stored in that sword found at the TuLuXuanWu cave. Then apparently the TianNu statue that comes to life was already something that he and LWJ had encountered before in their youth whilst they go along to hunt for the Amulet pieces. And then WQ apparently is able to influence the zombified with a flute like instrument anyway. And then apparently Lan Yi and WWX’s mum knew each other cos nothing spells more destined love than when your respective previous generation also had some sort of bond and connection. And the bunnies were really reared by her so not a sweet little homage of the Wangxian love. And the forehead ribbon is not just ugly aesthetics wise but LWJ can’t decide if he’s steadfast about it or he is nonchalant about taking it off and tying it onto WWX’s wrist even when he was not intoxicated. And then WWX was already using some unexplained paper puppet powers which was apparently not seen as demonic cultivation in his youth to mess about, and he apparently could manipulate LWJ quite easily to get him drunk. And when things that are not canon like LXC and JGY they just had to make their first meeting so obviously charged with innuendo. And then WQ since the actress invested in the series, had to be important, so she is given some all so noble duty of being the good guy in the bad camp who is doing stuff that she doesn’t want to but she is still good and should be liked though she’s still a bad guy nonsense trope. So she goes to GuSu to get the amulet piece for WRH, because only when he gets the piece will she be able to somehow bring WN away. And WN was a great enough character both alive and dead as the Ghost General with his design from the source material, but no, they want to embellish it that he’s afflicted with some condition that makes him susceptible to being possessed and taken over by evil spirits. Wtf. And naturally, WQ should somehow capture JC’s eye, because why would JC want to be infatuated with a Wen person when eventually they cause the demise of his parents and his clan. But hey maybe he’d be so selective thinking WQ didn’t do it though so that’s okay. Like wtf.

Let’s talk about the actors. I like WWX’s look, the actor has a good face, he “looks” like a WWX, but damn his acting is bad. And damn, he cannot do the duality of WWX, because he does not exude that dangerous aura and the strength and power that WWX naturally possess because of his natural abilities, evident even before he was a Yiling Patriarch, much less if this guy wants to play a convincing Patriarch. He does all these ogling of LWJ from the get go since they met, cue all the cheap BL baiting. And he pouts and stomps his feet and acts cute the whole time. WWX is cheeky, naughty, devious, mischievous, but not girly, not a sissy. Wtf. Then we move onto LWJ. So that guy is some boy and heartthrob, but damn he has neither r looks nor the presence nor the acting skills to touch LWJ. WTF. The moment he appeared he made me want to slap LWJ, want to cry for his ru8ning of his whole imagery. The action sequence is so wooden, and the expressions are so constipated or dead. Everybody else looked bad. The actors I think chosen right for their looks were WWX, WN (alive version, the ghost general version has such awful make up it makes me cringe), NHS, JGY, XY (he apparently got to get a good looking dude to play him who also looks kind of evil and yet looks like an anime character walked out of the anime) and maybe JC (that’s because aesthetically he actually can be considered good looking and that is ridiculous because he’s better looking than the Twin Jades of Lan in this). LXC and his butt chin hurts my eyes. WRH looking like some voodoo witch doctor gone drag in his evil volcanic dungeon lair makes me want to throw an encyclopaedia at someone’s head violently. NMJ looking like a complete perverted uncle complete with hentai stache is just blasphemous. JZX just looks weird, no better way to put it.

So onto the make up, costumes and props. Make up is so shit that you can see up close where spots are done smoothed over or powdered down, the gore or the effects of veins and wounds are so fake and so obviously drawn on it looked like a 6yo went to arts class and took some marker pen and crayon and created these outcomes. The props are so cheap that the ghost hand looks like a rubber Halloween glove you get from the prop shop around the corner, the deity binding ropes look exactly like rough ropes. The Emperor Smile bottles look so tiny and white that it looks more like medicine bottles on ancient times than an expensive alcohol bottle. Where’s the YunMeng silver bell, the jade piece on LWJ’s robe. The forehead ribbon looks so cheap because it’s too thin and the stupid metallic piece in the middle is ridiculous. Why can’t they just stick with the original to have the silk cloth with the cloud patterns embroidered on the cloth. And the clothes, Lan sect is supposed to be ethereal, so why are they dressed in such plain white and tight clothes. They should have the flowing sleeves, the light blue tones, and the cloud embroidery. YunMeng needs to have their original violet colour, the Wen Sect does not need to be full body red like they’re getting married (see WQ), and the Jin sect needs their golden robes with the centrepiece of the JinXinXueLang peony, not some watered down white with yellow hues and nothing else to show for it. And what is with LWJ’s hair do and hair piece, it has such a disgusting look to it and it doesn’t look right. Do the bun properly and the accessory properly, not some weird plop of hair right in front on top of his head and then put a flat piece of elaborate metal on top of it.

I had been looking forward to seeing the epic ness of MDZS brought to the small screen. I had been completely prepared for changes in terms of the romance line being cut, but I fully expected the main storylines to be followed and perhaps elaborated on. Not to be chopped and changed and meshed up and violated like they’ve done so. And with the ability to get some really lovely natural scenery and some of the sets that actually look good eg the Lotus seat in Yun Meng was elaborate and intricate. So why won’t they invest in the right places like making the make up perfect, getting the costumes and looks correct, getting actual actors who can act cos even if they don’t look aesthetically good enough but if they’re solid actors it would flow so much better, and more vitally, why don’t they retell and elaborate on the existing epic storyline as it is! That’s the core of it, the MDZS storyline and major scenes are so awesome wit( their backstories, no changes need to be made, but merely elaborated and extrapolated on, not to be comepltely vandalised and violated. My heart breaks as for the sake of my love for MDZS, I’ve watched 8 eps and had to stop and restart so many times because of how jarring, unnatural, awkward, infuriating, irritating and frustrating the factors above contribute to my viewing. And now the greatness of MDZS as an original source material will forever be tainted by the sacrilege that is the Untamed.

I LIKE IIIIITTT AND I’VE JUST FINISHED READING THE WHOLE THING! Idk if I like the Nie!WWX or the Wen!WWX better now. So many possibilities! I’M SO SORRY IF MY LACK OF RESPONSE HAVE OFFENDED YOU T_T Oh no! I’ve been a little quiet lately because a lot things happen in real life and since I’m mostly on Tumblr Mobile (and Tumblr is no longer on iOS App Store T_T), the old app I still have installed is very sad. Crashes and error messages all around. I’m so happy to be able to read and respond to your messages (laptop, yay!) today~

ONWARDS TO THE WHOLESOME WEN!WWX EVERYONE:

WN and WQ visited Yiling with some other young disciples when they were young. WN got bullied while WQ was shopping and WWX came to the rescue but he lost the fight. As they were treated to some basic first aid by WQ, WN pleaded with his sister to take WWX with them. WQ agreed so the backbone her brother just grew does not get crushed immediately. 

WWX often trains with WN and they go night hunting and searching for rare herbs together. They are also the ones that run into a battlefield/night hunt to pick up the wounded and carry them away to be treated. WN is still very timid but not with WWX. The archery contest comes and WN manages to enter with WWX, who gets first place. WWX talks with the other disciples who keep him away because oft the sect he is part of. The Lan sect does not get burned down because the Wen were not embarrassed.

But the Wen sect still demands that all sects send some disciples to them. WQ manages to establish that the Wen sect always takes some first helpers with them when they go night hunting so WWX is there when they hunt down the Xuanwu. He sees that LWJ has a broken leg and somehow got the bedside manner of WQ (be a man and take your medicine!). 

Because of the treatment LWJ manages to evade the bite but WWX still got shot (of course his heart is too big to flee with the others). He gets the grudging respect of some disciples when he helps them escape but still gets shot by an arrow (but not by mistake this time).WWX is part of the Wen sect so he still has his sword and doesn’t use the future stygian tiger seal. 

Together with LWJ he beats the Xuanwu. Of course they have their alone time again and LWJ falls in love again. This time LXC and WN come to save them. The Wen sect turns the story around and says the disciples \abonded one of their sect and they push even more strict rules on the other sects. They have enough and the Sunshot campaign starts. This time WWX (the bleeding heart who does not have grudge against anyone) runs around the battlefield to protect the wounded and get them to safety.

He also helps disciples from other sects. (they first curse him then they are silent) WWX always asks them to keep it a secret and because it is embarrassing to be save by a Wen they agree. It still spreads in the alliance that WQ part of the Wen sect does not seem so bad. Cue LWJ fighting always where he knows WWX is. He also saves him a few times. (‘Lan-er-gege you can let me down now, WN can carry me now.’)

The alliance manages to win because the Lan sect was not burned down and the Jiang sect was still whole. The Wen sect gets punished but the WQ part of the sect only gets banished to the burial mountains. There WWX makes many new inventions to keep everyone save from the corpses and all that. Word spreads and they actually get a few disciples (mostly poor people that do not think they would have a chance if they went to the other sect).

So they manage to make their own small sect (can’t think of a name, they wouldn’t call it Wen sect). They get permission to night hunt in Yiling and their sect slowly becomes famous for their medicine, their expertise of fighting corpses and ghosts, their resistance to dark energy and surprisingly their humility (because they can’t tell everyone that they are rich from selling all the medicine (the emperor came!!) they know envy brings disaster)

WWX can’t leave Yiling so LWJ must come to Yiling and coincidentally they often meet. Sometime they are invited to a discussion conference and slowly the sect is allowed to leave Yiling. The burial mountains got pretty inhabitable now that everyone removes some walking corpses every time they go shopping or visiting a friend. WWX and LWJ go night hunting together (and LWJ stares holes into WN if he comes with them)

.This goes on until one day WQ pulls LWJ into heir room and tells him that he should hurry up and make WXX his or she will be forced to show WWX all the marriage proposals she keeps getting for him. Her soft persuasion (she held him at needle point and threatened to make it so a certain part of his body will never get up again) worked. 

p.s/ I just realized that LWJ leg cannot be broken if the cloud recesses were not burnt down DX. Let's just say that fate decided it still had to hurt. And the exit of the cave with the Xuanwu was closed by Chao so they couldn't fly out on WWX sword...

The shower solved my plot hole for the Wen!AU: Even though the Wen sect won the competition, WC is angry because he was made a fool of and like the manchild he is he has to let his anger out on others. He can’t do anything against WWX so he goes after LWJ who got second place. He and all his buddies start a surprise attack on him and manage to break his leg. 

LWJ still manages to beat them up pretty bad (and WC can’t say anything because it would be the ultimate humiliation for him to admit that he was beat up by one person while he attacked with his whole group.)

EXTRA 1:

Small side story for the WenAU: The new sect has a weekly contest of who has seen the most gruesome corpse/ghost. WWX wins most often because he searches for them and makes normal corpses even more gruesome through his experiments, but everyone has great fun with it. So during one discussion conference WQ (as the new sect leader) gets low key harassed by some people (either they have a grudge against the Wens or it is JGS and it is sexual harassment).

So WWX starts the contest then and there and the other disciples catch on quickly and tell in excruciating detail of their finds and how they got rid of it. WWX does it while staring into the eyes of the bully. Soon no one can stand looking at their food and the sect isn’t troubled by anyone anymore. 

EXTRA 2:

Side fact to Wen AU: WWX is not really teacher material but he often spirits the young disciples away from their lessons to take them out hunting and teaches them practical skills. I think he is the type of person that would also use games to teach others. Like the kite shooting game, all the disciples would only see it as a fun game to pass the time until they take part in an archery contest and see how good they got.

WWX would often catch a ghost and let them look at it (like in Ying city) so they learn how to deal with them in a controlled environment. After the first few times the real teachers ran to WQ to complain about the kidnapping of their students, she goes to look what he does and then tells them to let him be Of course he is also the go-to person pertaining sword skills and such.

wangxian AU where wwx and lwj keep running into each other at a club EXCEPT: wwx is a criminal and is there to get something for a heist ;)

so! wwx shows up at club (flashing lights, vibes, etc) with WN and WQ (the members of his crew) it's the night before their heist of Carp Tower (bc we all know there's shady stuff going on in there) they need to get an access key thing off of Jin Zixun (who is always at the club getting drunk) and its mostly up to WQ bc she is pretty lady. WN and WWX are there as back up and to keep an eye out plus, NHS warned the three of them that there would be some undercover agents at the club to try and catch them--so they had to be Extra Careful. WWX is split up from WN and WQ to cover more ground. He can see WQ and a few other women around Jin Zixun (gross). He's casually sipping alcohol (enough to blend in, not nearly enough to get drunk) when he suddenly locks eyes with The Most Beautiful Human he has EVER seen. Literally Ever. They share some heated eye contact from across the club, and WWX is so shook by this lovely man. Eventually the moment breaks (a group of ppl walk in between them, which is very rude--didn't they know he was exchanging looks with the love of his life???) At this point, WWX is internally cursing his horrible luck. On any other normal night, he would go and shamelessly flirt with this beautiful man. ALAS! he is here on business today. So instead of chasing the guy down, WWX lets himself lose track of the man in the crowd. Sigh. He turns his focus back to WQ and sees that one of the other girls is trying to pull Jin Zixun away (why anyone would want that is beyond WWX). WQ hadn't gotten the access key yet, so he has to do something. WWX casually works his way towards them, and as he passes by, he seamlessly knocks a drink onto the girl's clothes. He doesn't stop, he just keeps walking, but he can hear a little shout from the girl and figures he was successful. Except. He's distracted as he's walking away. Not exactly paying full attention to where he's walking. So he runs full on into someone. And not just anyone. Of course it would the his beautiful man from before. and OH BOY is he even more stunning and beautiful and perfect up close. It's not fair. The universe sent this man the ONE night WWX couldn't do anything about it. So he will leave. BUT! He's only human. So he can't resist tossing the man a grin and a wink before getting his hands off his chest and returning back to the crowd. It's truly a tragedy that he can't just ask Mr. Sexy to dance and just spend the rest of the night (and his life) with him. He goes back to waling around the perimeter, checking things out. But somehow his eyes KEEP running into the beautiful eyes of this man. It's agony for WWX to tear his gaze away each time. He's a professional, he keeps telling himself. It's for the greater good! Plus WQ would kill him for screwing things up bc of a pretty face (even if it is THE prettiest face). After a little while of this, WN asks WWX to check out the roof, just in case. So WWX goes to the roof. But when he gets there, he sees none other than his beautiful, perfect, mysterious man. And once again, WWX is a weak man. If the universe keeps sending this man his way, who is he to deny fate? So he approaches. "Hi." "Hello." Of course, he has a perfect voice, too. Unfair. "I'm Wei Ying." As soon as he says it, he realizes he should have used an alias. But he just couldn't lie to that face. "Lan Zhan." WWX grins. "It's nice to meet you, Lan Zhan." So WWX spends the rest of the evening "keeping an eye on the roof." It turns out he and LWJ have a lot in common, and the conversation is so easy. WWX flirts, and he's pretty sure LWJ flirts back. He is also pretty sure this man is the love of his life. At one point the conversation lulls for a little, and in the comfortable silence, he can hear LWJ humming a pretty tune under his breath. "What song is that?" "Nothing yet." A very mysterious answer. But somehow, WWX finds himself content with leaving it mysterious for now. Eventually WQ texts and says she's got what they need. Which means it's time to go. And it seems like LWJ has to go too. "I'll see you around Lan Zhan?" LWJ nods. And then they part ways. (Neither of them thinks of exchanging numbers because they're stupid and caught up in the moment.) WWX decides not to mention meeting his future husband to anyone until after they succeed with their mission. For one, it would be a distraction. For another thing, if they don't succeed... well he would never see LWJ again anyway. So. they spend the rest of the day prepping for the heist well actually wwx is thinking about lwj, pining away. wn and wq can tell that wwx is preoccupied, but they let him deal with it on his own for now cut to the actual heist. it's going FLAWLESSY! wq and wn are in the get-away car, wwx is just re-setting the security system so that no one ever knows they were ther he's whistling a random tune to himself and fiddling with wire when he hears a gasp--and the clicking of a gun he turns around slowly and its LAN ZHAN?? holding a gun and aiming it at his head. "Lan Zhan?" he can't help himself from saying "Wei Ying." lwj says with a quiet, but steady voice. "put your hands in the air" wwx puts his hands on his face mask--its still there? how did lan zhan recognize him? "Lan Zhan... this isn't how I wanted to see you again." lwj gestures with his gun for wwx to put his hands up. wwx complies "... nor I, Wei Ying. Maybe if you were not committing crimes." wwx scoffs "me?? the people here are the real criminals. im an agent of justice." "Yes. because 'agents of justice' wear all black and sneak in at night." "Well it's better than robbing people of their money. People who really need it. You don't even know who you're protecting right now, do you?" wwx can see lwj hesitat. then they hear voices. it's the other officers. if wwx stays any longer, he'll be caught. he needs to tell wq and wn to get out of there and leave him before they get caught too. but then, without warning. lwj puts his gun down "go." "what?" "just leave. before I change my mind" wwx is NOT about to look a gift horse in the mouth, but the moment is still a little bittersweet. "I'll see you around, Lan Zhan?" "... I hope so." so wwx runs to the hidden getaway car and they peel out of there. wn and wq: we did it!!! wwx: the loml and i are star crossed lovers.... wn: concerned wq: i'm not paid enough for this for the next few months, it's a little game of cat and mouse (definitely on purpose for both of them) and it's the only way that they see each other until one day they meet a coffee shop they exchange numbers and pretend that this is exactly their Second Meeting. nothing suspicious at all. eventually, lwj realizes just how crooked the ppl wwx is robbing from is (he had his suspicions to begin with) he helps wwx and works as a double agent, and together they all take down the conspiracy of corruption <3 (all they know is be gay do crimes) THE END

The Untamed / Chenqing Ling Episode 6-8

I’m sorry for all the spamming !!! I didn’t expect to be so into the live action but it just gets more interesting ; O ;  Also slowly getting a crush on Wang Yibo/LWJ’s actor. Last POST I SWEAR !!! until the episodes next week... AS ALWAYS, SPOILERS INCOMING !!!

Ep 6

NHS is late for the party because he wanted peanuts. The boys barricaded their doors and place a silencing talisman over it. WWX teases JC about his ‘criteria’ for a wife and got banned by the whole cultivational world. They fool around as JC tries to murder WWX and NHS is trying to protect him. LWJ walks in, while WWX takes the lead, JC and NHS feigned drunk and ran away when WWX gave the cue. WWX placed a talisman on LWJ and made him obey him and call him ‘Wei-gege’. But when WWX wants to touch his forehead ribbon, LWJ snaps awake and says only family members and his wife are allowed to touch it. WWX is like,  “Pfff wife, your Lan sect has so many rules I doubt any girl would was to marry into the Lan Sect.” LWJ is like, “I am fine with that.” and WWX gets awkward... tries to joke and say, “Since you’re a lil fuddy daddy, and your dad is a big fuddy daddy. Does that mean your mother is very ridiculous? (since LWJ called him ridiculous).” and LWJ is like, “I do not have a mother.” and WWX immediately feels bad and offers LWJ his own story too, saying he lost his mother at the age of 4 and cant even remember how they look like. His earliest memories were only being chased by dogs. 

The next day, a Gusu disciple reported to LQR and LXC that WWX and co were caught drinking alcohol in the CR. LXC chuckles good-naturedly but spits out his wine when the Gusu disciple says LWJ is also involved, and LXC is like “What?!”

LQR and LXC go out to bestow punishment. LWJ and WWX gets 300 beating each, JC and NHS gets 50. WWX and JC makes JYL baby them and cook mutton stew for them. They meet LXC on the way, LXC telling WWX that LQR and Cangse Sanren used to be classmates, so he was annoyed easily by WWX. He tells WWX to go to the fountain to heal. 

WWX goes to the fountain and meets LWJ. They both fell into a cave with a mysterious guqin and a bunch of rabbits. LWJ is like “Why is that rabbit wearing a forehead ribbon.” The guqin starts attacking WWX and it appears to attack anyone who isn’t a Lan. WWX sees the rabbit with the forehead ribbon and asks LWJ to give him his forehead ribbon. LWJ flies over and ties his forehead ribbon around WWX’s wrist.

LWJ performs Inquiry on the guqin and summons Lan Yi. Lan Yi tells them a story:

A long time ago in the Burial Mounds there lived a tyrant called Xue Conghai (Xue Yang’s ancestor??) who as a pet Xuanwu and crafted the Demonic Metal, using human sacrifice to feed it. The Five great sects including Wen Mao, rose up against him and killed Xue Conghai. They spilt the metal into 4 pieces and sealed them away. Lan Yi thought she could use the metal for good and tried to unseal it. Her best friend at that time is Baoshan Sanren, who tried to stop her, but Lan Yi ceases to listen. So she realized her mistake after that, uses her powers to seal the last piece of the Demonic Metal in the cave for hundreds of years. However, her powers are slowly fading and she could no longer uphold it. LWJ swears an oath that he will find the Demonic Metal and destroys it. WWX also pledges before Lan Yi. LWJ is like, “This doesn’t concern you, you are not a Lan.” WWX is like, “Im not heartless. Even though I’m from Yunmeng Jiang, we help each other when the other is in need.” Lan Yi is pleasantly surprised to find that WWX is the son of one of Baoshan Sanren’s disciple and says he reflects Baoshan’s teachings. She gives them the last piece of Demonic Metal and vanishes.

LWJ and WWX returns and finds that they have been gone for almost one day and night. They gave the metal to LQR and LXC, and finds that they already knew about it. Only all leaders of the Lan Sect from generation to generation knew about this secret.  

Ep7

LQR and LXC made WWX swore not to tell anyone. On their way out, NHS came to to ask after WWX and asked what happened, LWJ almost told him, but WWX stopped him, bullshit about a big snake trying to eat them and scares NHS off. 

WRH sends XY off to Yueyang to retrieve one piece of the Demonic Metal. WC is jealous that he isn’t chosen and seems to have plotted something. 

They make lanterns. JZX and JYL ship is thick here. WWX asks LWJ is they want to set the lantern off together. Lwj says he’s used to being alone, but WWX pushes on and says habits can be changed and he doesn’t need to be alone, besides, he made the lantern with LWJ in mind and shows him his lantern with a golden-eyed rabbit. LWJ smiles fainted and it made WWX laugh, saying “You smiled!” LWJ immediately gets nervous and picks up Bichen, WWX is scared off and accidentally pushes NHS’ lantern into the fire. They set off the lanterns and made wishes:

NHS wished that he could pass the exam.  JC steals a glance at WQ as she wishes that WN would live a life of good health. LWJ steals a glance at WWX and was impressed when WWX wished that he could help all the weak and poor and that there would be no injustice in the world.

WWX asks JYL what she wished about and guessed that it’s about marrying into a good family. JZX walks off, WWX runs after him and ask that it mean... etc etc they got into a fight. JFM and JGS comes to Gusu and after settling the matter, LQR retains JFM to tell him about the Demonic Metal. JFM tells LQR and LXC about WRH receiving a guest with the surname ‘Xue’ and they were shocked. 

WWX tries to cheer up JYL by sending a paper man into her room and she could guess it’s him. WWX tries to run away but was caught by her and he asked her to scold him, but she says it’s not his fault. With JC, they approach LQR and LQR to take their leave back to Yunmeng. On their way out, WWX caught LXC saying “Have a safe journey.” to LWJ and concludes that LWJ might be going to retrieve the Demonic Metal alone.

WWX visits a place and it’s discovered that he took all of Lan Yi’s rabbits and tried to raise them outside of the CR. WWX talks to the rabbits, asking if they’re fine and etc, and he wants to bring them back to Yunmeng but feels like LWJ would be lonely without them. 

LXC and LWJ watches them leave and LXC is like “the CR would be quiet again without Master Wei... I wonder how long it will last.” He asks if LWJ wants to tell WWX about his trip, but LWJ says it doesn’t matter.

Ep8

JFM, JYL, JC, and WWX set off to go back home to Yunmeng. On their way, they stop by WWX’s rabbits. As they patted the rabbits, JC is like “Why did you have so many rabbits?” and WWX says he picked them up from the road because he couldn’t tell him he’s seen Lan Yi. JC then, “Could it be that you wanted to eat rabbit meat?” and WWX quickly covers the rabbit’s ears, “JC!! You can let rabbits hear something like that!! They baby...” (I found this so cute!!!)  After they left, LWJ passed by the same passage. He greets the rabbits and says he hopes they’ll meet again.

Back in LXC’s place, WC visits him and asks for the Demonic Metal. LXC tells WC go to home. WC threatens him and says he knows that LWJ just descended the CR this morning, and laughs when LXC is shocked. LXC prays for LWJ to be safe.

Back with the Jiangs, JFM found a letter with a smiley face left to him by WWX. JC is mad that WWX left without forewarning and says he’ll catch him back, but JFM says it’s fine. JYL tells JC that if WWX left, it must be because it’s something important. 

WWX and LWJ gets a random change of (more attractive) clothes. WWX runs after LWJ and annoys him, LWJ calls him ridiculous but lets him onto the boat anyways. WC is seen stalking them.

LWJ is moving too fast and WWX asks him to wait for him, but LWJ ignores him, so WWX creates a string using an array so that he and LWJ are tied together and couldn’t stray apart from each other further than 2meters. It just ends with LWJ dragging WWX across the mountains. They arrive in a city and met NHS. 

JC leaves Yunmeng to find WWX. JYL caught him, but lets him and tells him to be careful. JC appreciates that she’s supportive of his decision.

WWX and NHS fooled around before WWX noticed LWJ is interested in a crowd of people and asks why he isn’t approaching them to see what’s up. LWJ comments that there are too many people and he doesn’t want to crowd. WWX takes LWJ’s hand and runs into the crowd regardless, NHS tags along. They notice they were all crowding upon a sign that says [novel reference] if you recite a poem correctly a beautiful fae would appear and show herself to you. They bask in flower petals for a while then later finds out that WC had came earlier and took a piece of the Demonic Metal from the fae, so she’s gone.

On the road, NHS starts associating himself with them as WWX tells him about their quest. WWX begins to get a little annoyed that NHS is being too intimidate with them. NHS was like “So if we’re holding one piece of the Demonic Metal, wouldn’t that be dangerous?” and WWX responds, “What ‘we’? It’s just me,” points at LWJ, “and him!! There is no ‘we’ !! you just tagged along from nowhere!!” 

WC scene again.  WQ tells WC that they should go to Yueyang to aid Xue Yang, but WQ says he knows that WQ is prevent him from getting near WWX and LWJ and warns her not to use WRH to threaten him. Here WC reveals that WQ’s family (Granny, A-Yuan, Uncle Four) were all from Dafan mountain and WQ says WRH promised not to hurt her family. WC laughs and says he is going to awaken a man-eating beast (hint: goddess).

JC runs into WQ in a coffee shop. WQ purposely picks a fight with him by copying all his orders and actions, and uses the opportunity to tell JC that WWX is in trouble in Dafan Mountain. JC thanked her and runs away to WWX’s aid.

WWX, LWJ, and NHS meet an old lady on the road (suspect to be A-Yuan’s Granny). Granny seems to be mumbling about a goddess coming to life as WWX asks for a place to sleep. She leads them to a cave. Uncle Four walks out and tells him that the goddess was originally a rock who developed a face after receiving prayers from many, but was sealed/controlled by someone powerful. WWX saw the cenotaph in his hands having a ‘Wen’ character and asks if that someone ‘powerful’ is from the Wen sect, Uncle Four insist that he doesn’t remember. 

At night as they slept, NHS had a nightmare and woke LWJ and WWX up screaming. The goddess suddenly comes to life. WWX and LWJ teamed up to fight her. In the process, the goddess was mainly attacking LWJ persistently so WWX asks LWJ if he thought she fancied him, and LWJ asks him to shut his mouth. After that, WWX and LWJ sealed the goddess, but a bunch of walking corpses suddenly appeared and started attacking them. WC’s black phantom bird appears and NHS points it out. WWX is like ‘stupid bird.’

This is the qUaLitY content y’all get from this blog. Also see me spamming friend about this AU. It’s junior-centered, with a dash of wangxian. This is basically a more in-depth version of what I gave my friend lol

After getting kicked out of SHIELD for questionable experiments involving Kree blood, Wei Wuxian was spying on Hydra (lead by Wen Ruohan) by infiltrating them as a scientist. However, being Wei Wuxian, he neglected to tell anyone since he got kicked out, so everyone thought he betrayed them.

So he’s at Hydra, befriending Wen Qing & Ning, and realizes that they’re good people.

But he got caught giving info to Director LXC, so Wei Wuxian makes his grand escape. He may have accidentally knocked over a terrigenesis crystal while trying to escape the Nightless City.

The terrigenesis crystal may have turned a little boy into an Inhuman (the first time anyone went through terrigenesis) and that little boy (Wen Yuan) may have accidentally burnt down the entire Nightless City.

At least, that’s how WWX explains it to Lan Wangji when he gives LWJ a child to take care of.

So, with Wen Yuan in SHIELD custody, Lan Wangji adopts him & renames him Lan Sizhui. He’s still a child (I don’t know why I keep referring to him as a little boy?? He’s like 12-ish??).

So Wei Wuxian goes off to re-join the remnants of HYDRA because they let him experiment in peace & he gets to keep an eye on them for SHIELD (even though he’s an ex-agent).

But before that, he vouches for WQ & WN to join SHIELD. And though many people there are suspicious, they do have a vacant spot for a doctor now that Dr. Wei is gone & WQ is quite good. They bring WN along too.

Meanwhile: Lan Jingyi is getting abused my his mother & his dad is working across the country so life is quite sucky for him.

Thankfully, his family has connections to one Lan Xichen (who learns about the abuse eventually) and Jingyi gets into SHIELD Academy. What he doesn’t know is that he comes from a line of people with Inhumans genes.

Which may or may not how been why Xichen was visiting.

Anyways, Sizhui & Jingyi meet at SHIELD Academy (both around 13-14?) and Lan Qiren is about to get more headaches.

Eventually, he (now 16) gets told why he was accepted on the first place & asked if he’d like to go through terrigenesis. He’s like “ok” and boom vocal mind control.

That’s actually inaccurate; he has the power to manipulate people with his voice. He has to learn how to control it though.

Wei Wuxian rejoins SHIELD! Lan Sizhui meets the person who saved him all those years ago. yay.

Little did they know, Wei Wuxian was expieriemnting with terrigenesis while he was gone but shhhhhhh-

Now onto Jin Ling’s backstory, cause his is a doozy.

Jiang Yanli got Inhuman genes from her mother. So did jc, but his powers & stuff come into play later. Wwx is their adopted bro, but due to circumstances that will be explained later, Wwx & jc are estranged.

Jyl and jzx raise jl for most of his younger childhood (until he’s about 7-8) when evil HYDRA people come in & kill jzx and kidnap jyl for Inhuman experimentation. Note, she has the genes but isn’t an Inhuman (yet).

Ling is very sad and Jiang Cheng swoops in to take him in. Jc actually worked at as a SHEILD agent back from before lxc was Director (coughxichengcough) but left when his sister was kidnapped so he could try to track her down & save her. Instead he gets his nephew.

Jc also takes over his parents’ buisness to get a source of income.

And jc goes through the woes of being a parent up until he also gets kidnapped by HYDRA. Jl also gets nabbed, but HYDRA separates them

Wwx may have been expierimenting but he tries to do it without hurting any of them, and he validates it because he prevented many people from getting cut open by explaining to the HYDRA heads that they’re most useful alive. It somehow works.

In fact, wwx is assigned to jl. The HYDRA people know wwx’s relation to jc & jyl, so they don’t tell wwx that they kidnapped jc & jyl or that they’re literally in the same facility.

Since wwx was assigned to jl, he basically helps him undergo terrigenesis and tries to determine his power.

Wwx also doesn’t know that jl is kinda his nephew. But he pities him, so he maybe helps jl escape, but in a way so that no one realizes it because he still has his cover to maintain.

(also, I forgot to mention: jyl’s kidnapping caused jc & wwx to become estranged).

So wwx may have had a very loud conversation near jl’s cell about some of the exits and also teaches jl the basics on his Inhuman ability. maybe the device he uses to control jl’s powers happened to malfunction in the middle of the night.

Ling, not knowing that wwx is helping him, uses his power (energy manipulation) to break out and makes a run for it.

He manages to escape (wwx had a very detailed convo about the building’s layout) and gets the hell out of there.

Jl’s smart enough to realize that since HYDRA knows where he lives, that he probably shouldn’t go back home.

He really wants to get his uncle back (and maybe his mom, but he’s not sure she’s still alive) but has like no idea how to use his power to do anything except bomb stuff. & that only works like half the time.

Jin Ling is about to kill a bitch but then he remembers that his uncle gave him an address to go to if anything ever happened (remember, jc is an ex-SHIELD agent so bad things happen quite a lot).

Meanwhile, despite his carefulness, wwx got caught and HYDRA is deciding whether or not he will die. Wwx, being the genius he is, takes all his stuff and gets the fuck outta there.

He decides to go visit his kinda-boyfriend (that he may or may not have been ignoring for like 13 years), lwj back at SHIELD. He also wants to see how the Wen siblings are doing.

So WWX goes back to SHIELD, only about an hour before Ling arrives. In jl’s defense, he had no idea that the entrance to a secret government organization was a quaint little music shop.

He just kinda... walks in, and everyone is freaking bc they have been breached but sees him and thinks “huh he kinda looks like jc” and then lxc thinks “oh no what happened this time”

Lxc introduces himself and jl (being the second best matchmaker here, second to only lxc) accidentally reveals that jc talked about him before.

Lxc is pleasantly surprised (gay) and asks jl to come with him into his office so that they can... chat.

On their way, they pass by the science lab. Wei Wuxian, who just came back to base, is happily walking along with Lan Sizhui, when all hell breaks loose.

Remember when I said that wwx was quite secretive about helping? And that jl is still upset bc he never got his uncle back and he can’t lose another family member, not to them?

So obviously jl does what anyone would if you saw the guy who forced you to undergo a life-changing event and was involved in the organization that kidnapped two of his family members and killed his dad: he attaccs.

If you also remember, I mentioned that jl has no fucking clue what he’s doing. All he knows is energy and boom boom.

And the mini-explosions only work in close range, from what he’s seen. So in his anger, he unlocks a new skill: energy shots.

Wei Wuxian took cover like the second he realized who was attempting to kill him and screaming at the others not to kill his assailant no matter how annoying he was.

Lan Wangji sadly wasn’t at base, but Sizhui was, and he can certainly hold his own against Ling, especially since Sizhui has had more time to train with his power.

Luckily, Jingyi swoops in & uses his voice to force jl to stop. They handcuff him and lxc drags him away into his office.

It’s safe to say that the science lab corridor is fried.

That’s basically how jl got introduced to SHIELD (he eventually joins and learns the truth about wwx, which makes all their past interactions quite awkward).

Now we have Zizhen, who comes into the story after the two Lans have become agents but before the whole Jin Ling fiasco occurs.

Sizhui & Jingyi were sent to see if Agent Ouyang Xingyun (@yoitsamy’s oc older sis of oyzz)‘a family knew where she was because she was on a undercover mission & didn’t check in with her contact last week. + she didn’t contact SHIELD so Director LXC was worried.

They look through the window and everything is a mess, so they kick down the door and try to find anyone. The whole place is torn apart, like people were fighting there.

In the upstairs bedroom, they find Ouyang Zizhen & four of his younger siblings huddled together in a corner, protected by a forcefield-like shield. Once they realize the Lans aren’t a threat, the go back to SHIELD HQ and put in a room there until they can figure out wtf was going on.

Apparently, Zizhen unlocked his powers w/o terrigenesis when they got attacked by someone who was looking for his sister and used it to protect his siblings. They hadn’t seen their big sister in weeks.

So the Lans have a new case to solve, SHIELD has two new Inhumans with off circumstances, and Lan Wangji is one Xichen away from killing Jin Ling.

Episode 38: The One where We Unwillingly Take a Break from Wangxiantics

and he's putting jin ling in charge of bringing him out of it! jin ling is shocked!!

We go ten years back and see little a-qing playing in the water, the adorable little rascal!

if xy weren't such an awful person, i'd say it was cute how playful he is with xxc

song lan is doing a death grip watching xy flirtatiously tease xxc

i don't think it's a death grip of gay yearning

it's more of a helpless rage sort of death grip

oh, now we're back with the juniors

they're debating if jin ling should pull wwx out of the trance yet bc wwx is getting distressed

the juniors start to pull him out of the trance, but (un)lucky for us we still get to see the rest of the tragedy unfold!

i'll never understand why song lan didn't approach xxc while xy was off grocery shopping

IF HE'D ONLY DONE THAT, THE REST OF THE TRAGEDY WOULDN'T HAVE OCCURRED

it cuts right into song lan's soul, having to listen to xy explain how he tricked xxc into doing all those evil things

xy just cut out sl's tongue and poisoned him with that powder

oh nooooooo

xxc just stabbed him through with his sword

back with the juniors, trying to pull wwx all the way back

and they succeeded!

wwx: it's too long of a story, i'll tell you later

jl: don't leave us in suspense! cut it short!

i mean, he's not wrong but he didn't have to be Dramatic™ about it

and now wwx ditches the kids to rejoin lwj

he sees lwj still fighting xy

wwx: lan zhan! *whips out flute and starts playing*

then he gets interrupted by our favorite zombie boys who are also still fighting

wwx: wn, restrain him!

wn ofc, restrains song lan

now we get another nail-pulling scene, yuck

oooh, lwj takes a swing at xy with bichen and cuts off the Magic Pouch 2 containing xxc's spirit or whatever

Magic Pouch 2 goes flying and lwj decides to play baseball or smth and hits the pouch with his sword so wwx can catch it

omg, baseball, i miss baseball, stupid pandemic. somebody give me a baseball au so i can cope.

xy: GIVE THAT BACK

and lwj is like, okay and flings his sword at him lol

you know, it's corny as hell but i get a kick out of seeing lwj use bichen like a boomerang

and xy disappears into the fog

so wwx starts the good guy monologue

xy: *maniacal laughter*

wwx: xxc is so disgusted by you, and you still want me to bring him back to life so you can play that crappy game

xy: that's not what i want!

wwx: o rly? then why did you kneel down and beg me for help??

and that's the end of the episode

Very little WangXiantics. Like, less than last episode even.

But at least we got to enjoy xxc’s beautiful Elfin Prince face. 

And ignore every bad thing that happens to him! 

Because Denial is my favorite coping mechanism!
