I can't lie, I find it very odd that posts cautioning people against donating to individual* campaigns and promoting the idea of supporting mutual aid efforts and community kitchens in Gaza can rack up 10k+ notes--while a post promoting a community kitchen (that I can personally vouch for) struggles to get 1k notes, and has barely pulled in a couple hundred dollars over the past week.

I actively try to avoid using guilting tactics in fundraising, but this is weird to me. It's like people are using these posts as an excuse not to do things they already didn't want to do anyway, rather than actually taking their recommendations on board...

I constantly think about that Adorno quote where he says that a characteristic of reactionaries is that they always behave as if they are speaking truth to power, that they are saying the uncomfortable thing that everyone secretly believes but are too afraid to admit, and they are at all times only repeating what is already widely accepted as true in society. the reason trans women focus on and prioritize examples of trans men being transmisogynistic is because its so normal and expected when cis people do it, but to get such social violence from another trans person is fucking heartbreaking

TERFs couldn't keep Posie Parker out of their movement. They tried, like some of them really did think of themselves as feminists and cared about more than just exterminating trans people, some of them expressed concern that their movement's figureheads were ceding ground to Matt Walsh, but there was never going to be any meaningful resistance to fascism in the TERF movement. Their movement was fundamentally anti-feminist and racist.

I mention this, because it's already happening to this new online movement of TMRAs. There's moderate ones, I got a few in my inbox. "Come on, no one's saying that transmascs are more oppressed than trans women, we just have a right to recount our unique experiences." and those ones are already expressing concern that their movement is housing open transmisogynists. People who say Kiwifarms is a necessary evil, who expound the validity of sex-based oppression and outright deny the misogyny that transfems face, who sexually harrass and threaten transfems for sport and content.

See, the issue is that there was never going to be any resistance to transmisogyny in this movement. Your premise is flawed, you chose bad axioms. Even in its most moderate form, your movement is one skeptical of intersectionality, of the very concept of being oppressed on one axis but privileged on another. Amber Kim's move to a men's prison for a consensual sexual encounter is a crime against humanity. It's a crime against humanity that our culture tries to render unmournable, but it is nonetheless a heinous crime, and a stain upon the legacy of all the officials who abet or tolerate it.

Even when cisgender women rape other cisgender women in prison, they are not transferred to men's prisons. One does not have to believe that consensual sex in prisons is acceptable to acknowledge that this transfer is a double standard. And yet this is the treatment transgender women can expect, apparently: a brutal double standard of violence, wherein our presence in any space is that of, at best, a conditional visitor. Yet when push comes to shove, we are more impoverished, more violated, and more mistreated by our patriarchal society.

The state of Washington must reverse it's decision. If it cannot be compelled to do so, then Kim's sentence must be commuted - even if we accept that prisons can perform justice, surely we all agree that justice is never forwarded by torture; that a day served of a sentence in the form of torturing a minority is not, in fact, a day closer to any kind of justice.

The use of either solitary confinement or sexual violence against a transgender woman as a means of control is so far beyond the pale that it must be opposed under all circumstances.
