I got this really sick yellow ammunition box from an antique store for $30 and I'm so excited to see if I can make it into a letterbox. It's so interesting looking and I wonder if the posties won't just chuck the mail on the lawn because it doesn't have a letter slit, you'd have to open it up, or if someone's just gonna nick it. But the price was such a steal I wouldn't even be mad.
#plus the shop i got it from had like 60 other ammunition boxes#this one was just cooler because it was yellow#the others were real army looking#like that dark green with like hand writing on it#which I'm not too into but could paint over in the event where someone nicks it#and those ones were $22#man it was just the best antique store i wish i had more time#i got there half an hour before they closed and just did a quick browse#i got some cool old oil drums which im gonna use as planters too#they were $30 too like such a bargain

#i've made this disclaimer on another post but will again since i've seen a lot more of the movies now#the movies are VERY good and very enjoyable but unfortunately the first handful are bogged down by transphobic/homophobic/okama stereotypes#they kind of vary in their severity. Movie 5 i think is the biggest catalyst because it features the stereotyped characters the most#prominently. Movie 3 doesnt really have caricatures per se but saves a very backhanded reveal for the end#Movies 1 and 4 are a bit more tolerable if my memory is correct. Movie 2 i think is kind of comparable to Movie 5 with its caricatures#in that the characters have similar roles in both movies#i admittedly can't remember what caricatures there were in Movie 6 or 7. 7 i think barely had anything#RAMBLE RAMBLE BASICALLY: these jokes are within the first 7 movies or so 5 being the zenith then reducing down and down. by movie 8 it's sa#e#i give these disclaimers because these movies are all very enjoyable and i would not recommend them if i didnt think there wasnt any merit#o them. they are all very much worth watching. Movie 5 still has a lot of very enjoyable stuff in it (there's a showdown in a supermarket!!#but i just want to make sure that is clear and established since transparency is good to have and i dont want anyone's viewing experience t#be ruined because they weren't given the proper warning#if it's any consolation it's my understanding that even the directors hated doing the jokes#iirc Keiichi Hara really didn't like doing the jokes and i think had a talk with the mangaka Yoshito Usui and was like 'uh dude this is#gonna age horribly can we maybe not'#ironically Hara's first film is Movie 5. which is again the biggest offender#BUT! that is my spiel. my understanding is that it's contained to those 6 or 7 first movies and i think is strictly just a movie thing#so please do give these films a watch but just be mindful at the same time#if anyone needs recommendations my favorites have been movies 4 and 9 but i genuinely really enjoyed every one that i have seen#i've seen the first 11 and a half movies (need to finish 12) and movie 22. the worst i've felt about one is 'oh that was pretty good!'#each film has its own merit and is very very very much worth watching#22 was the first Shin-chan anything i watched and all my Shin-chan expert friends say 4 is a good introductory piece#in case that influences anything/makes it easier to break in#so. thus concludes my spiel#csc#vid

My review of Miraculous Ladybug S5 so far is that it has a lot of scenes that I like in theory, but in action just end up being very silly and way over dramatic
#that being said. i love them all the same#genuinely obsessed with this show#but man it handles everything in such an odd way#they always spend so much time talking about nothing for the first 75% of the episode#and then the last 25% hikes up the drama to 100 and its always so abrupt#'illusion' is an excellent example of this lol#that episode had such a strange and sudden tone shift#its bizarre that the episodes are 22 minutes long but still barely manage to say anything#this is all technically criticism but make no mistake. i wouldnt have it any other way#this is truly the peak of miraculous ladybug. this is what it should ALWAYS be#so far i dont think theres been an episode where ive been particularly BORED. theyve all got a little spice to them#which i appreciate#well. i kinda didnt like the first 2 episodes. those were just a lot of running around#but everything after that has been exactly what i wanted#tldr: the pacing is weird and i wouldnt change a thing#my notes document on this show is up to 8 pages. ive never had as many opinions on a show as I do this one#im a certified miraculous stan

#what i wanted to do today was watch game 3 of the 2014 finals#but i couldn't find it on you tube and as we all know it's not on league pass#so i ended up just spending some more time on across the time line#here's a fun fact i learned: Stephanie white got one technical foul in her career as a player and it was in the first game she ever played#meanwhile dt fouled out in her first game while still putting up like 22 points and 3 blocks 3 assists and 3 reb#shooting 53% from the field 7/13 and 3/6 from 3#and went 22-26-22 in the first 3 games of her career#a damn shame league pass doesn't have any of those available#and then i spent some time looking at scoring records#and here's the thing i respect the *ja one because it can stand without asterisks#but you know i was doing some math and looking at some things#it is so impressive that total points and points per game were not touched until 2023 and 2024 respectively#records that were set in 2006!#i have other thoughts about mvp stuff that i am not going to share rn bc i would prefer that they not be taken in the context of this seaso

Man, I already thought I had shit taste in movies and TV before watching BL, but seeing all the comments about (mostly Thai) BLs, especially GMMTV ones, that I’ve enjoyed, I’m reassessing that thought and I’ve concluded that I must have really shit taste 😂
#I’ve only watched like 22 Thai BLs and 16 of those were GMMTV so I don’t have the biggest base to compare them to#but so far I’m not really seeing a difference in scripting/acting/characterisation quality#I do need to watch more to compare though#I’m curious which ones are generally considered to have more depth than GMMTV BLs so I can make up my own mind#I started a whole post to ask for recs but I’m too lazy lol#stuff and nonsense#I’m either just too new to it all or just don’t have discerning enough taste#or the things other people don’t like don’t bother me lol

when i was younger (middle school) I wanted to breed huskies and learn all about dog breeds but I never even thought about/ considered some of the things you post about. it's super interesting! : )
I took Animal Biotech in High School as a free science period (since I'd completed my science requirements to graduate within the first 1.5 years of high school) and I think it was one of the best decisions I've ever made with my education. Most of it, yes, was How To Be A Farmer, which tracks since I went to a tinyass Mennonite schoolhouse for most of my schooling, but some of it was genuinely interesting.
If X pig breed needs Y amount of food to gain Z pounds but produces ABC amount of waste, vs a different pig breed needing a different amount of food to gain a different weight while producing a different amount of waste, you have this many dollars and that big of property and can only keep so many pigs, these pigs cost this much as piglets and sell for that much per pound at slaughter, etc etc those were the types of things we had to research and, occasionally, experiment with on our school's small farm.
I remember another experiment where we measured bones of horses of known origin and working conditions to draw conclusions of what the ideal horse would look like and what breed or breeds to use in order to create that horse for our specific [imaginary] farm setups. I remember one talking about the height and length of a cow's birth canal and how it determines how much assistance she may need with calving. I remember a discussion on goat hooves vs sheep hooves and how it contributed to containment methods.
Truly if I could think of a profession that would allow me to continue research in this manner, I think that would be my dream job. Sadly when I look up "animal biotechnology" a lot of it is animal experimentation in labratories, which I am very uninterested in. I don't really know what to call it other than what my school called it, but that was one of my favorite classes and I took it on a whim because it had "bio" and "animal" in it so I assumed it would be passably interesting.
#btw this is also why I get prickley when people accuse me of being too city#when I mention anything about the negatives of rural life#my friend I lived this life for 22 years before I left#I wasn't a farmer only bc my parents were teachers#teachers of the farmers' kids#so I went to school with farmers' kids#in a cute little schoolhouse surrounded on all sides by farmland#learning mostly about math and jesus tbqh#and how to grow up to be one of three options:#a teacher#a farmer#or a priest#I'd say 90% of the kids I graduated with were one of those options#and the few that were not were very severely ostracized#mennonites say they don't shun but THEY DO they just don't call it shunning
