Hey Lou, I hope you've been doing all right! I know it's been a hot minute since I popped in the inbox... life has been kicking my ass for a while. 😅

Anyway! I come bearing a humble HC request: how do you think Dark and the DA would celebrate Valentine's Day? What would they do? I have my ideas, but I’m curious what you think. ❤️🩷🤍

Okay, so it's quite a while past Valentine's Day now, but... all the time is a good time for sappy Valentine's sweetness~

So, since you specified Dark and the DA, this will be post-getting out of the mirror, annnnd will be at the Ego Manor (cause that's just how my brain sees the situation with Dark post-WKM).

The manor is going to be decked out in Valentine's decorations, all in a combination of pinks and reds and whites. Mostly Wilford's doing, though that's not to say the other Egos didn't help. Wilford alone makes every holiday a big deal, even without assistance.

The DA being there, Dark is going to wear white for the occasion, with a light pink undershirt and a slightly darker pink tie. It'll certainly turn a few, surprised heads.

Regardless of the stage of the others learning what Dark is really like - after decades of being miserable and depressed and grieving - he is going to be doing a good bit of baking. And he's going to make a little something for everyone. No one knows how, but he makes every Ego's favorite dessert type, if not an exact recipe.

After that - but also during, because the DA has always helped/joined him in his baking - he and the DA will head off to spend time together, as if it's just another regular day. However, Dark makes the specific choice to forgo heading back to his office, and instead steers them both outside, to the garden in the backyard.

As he's always been privy to doing - half the time at the DA's inquisitive prompting - he starts listing off various information about all sorts of flowers as they pass them by. But he quickly gets to talking about roses, and listing their various meanings, including color variations.

Before they head back inside, he hands the DA a pair of roses. One pink, one white, both of them thornless. The DA recalls what he'd just said about pink and white together, about thornless roses: I love you still and I always will. Love at first sight.

They both end up spending most of the rest of the afternoon, verging into evening, just hanging around and watching the other Egos get up to shenanigans, both related and unrelated to the holiday that day. Wilford has a little too much fun trying to play cupid, but it's all harmless, so no one tries to stop him. All the while, the DA continues to hold onto the pair of roses.

As evening settles in, the two head to Dark's office for some more peace and quiet, and to listen to some of Dark's records on his gramophone while they continued to talk.

Only for Dark to turn after putting a record on, hold his hand out to the DA, and ask them to dance.

Not as long as I would've liked, but my brain was deciding to be particularly empty for this ask, so. I hope you like this little blurb.

Well I just watched The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes. Pretty good movie adaption. Took me back to every emotion I felt while reading the book. And now I am. Very Emotioning.

Y'know I distinctly remember before reading that book, being like "Surely this prequel about President Snow and his life and backstory will make the reader feel somewhat.. sympathetic, toward this villain. Perhaps just a little bit, but at least... a little bit sympathetic." And then I read the book and LE-HE-HE-T LET ME TELL YOU, IT DID NOOOT. Which is wild, bc I am so often sympathetic and understanding and forgiving of villains, especially after learning their backstories. But gOOD FUCKING LORD, Coriolanus, that woman gave you EVERY CHANCE to make ONE SINGLE morally good decision that would matter, and you just. REFUSED.?! You COULD NOT do it EVEN ONCE. You SELFISH. ENTITLED. ASSHOLE
