How do you picture Dipcifica happening in Reverse Falls?

Got so excited about this question spent all my free time today making all this

I think it’d be funny if in reverse fashion, instead of hatred to begrudging partnership to liking each other the way Dipcifica kind of does in canon, in rev!falls they IMMEDIATELY get along. Which maybe just an excuse for me to just do cute stuff for them but I think it’s funny so!

Dipper sees her in the crowd, immediately clocks that she must be new since this town doesn’t have anyone or anything new or interesting about it except for them (the twins, the Pines family, etc.) and after some plot relevant things, there’s a begrudging and slowly growing friendship between the Pines and Pacifica and Gideon.

But specifically towards Dipper and Pacifica, Dipper is a prick. But beneath that he’s also still the Dipper we know, albeit grown up differently. Still nerdy, curious about weird anomalies of the world but a little more somber and edgy about it. Completely nerdy about magic—not real magic like their amulets let him do, but sleight of hand magic tricks real magicians learn. Pacifica, completely unphased by some of the most bizarre shit that could happen because in this universe Florida is the weirdness magnet area, she’s more impressed about his sleight of hand tricks, his knowledge on obscure history and science and nerdy pop culture facts, and thinks it’s funny and cute he’s so high maintenance. They get along well, and as intimidating as he can get (which is surprising bc in the main au he is still 12, then again he’s also a murderer?) she’s meeting all his remarks with her own brand of blunt ass and teasing, since yknow it’s still Dipcifica, just a different flavor. And while she may say silly things, he actually takes her seriously too, which makes them feel like there’s some equality in their relationship which is why they get along so well almost right off the bat!

Too bad in the reverse!falls equivalent of Northwest Mansion Mystery, Pacifica finds out Dipper (and Mabel) have been lying to her throughout the whole summer and made her think she did something when in fact it was orchestrated by the twins in the first place to manipulate and blackmail her. I don’t wanna spend too much on it since I haven’t fully thought much of it but basically Dipper has to double down that he’ll do ANYTHING for his family, which means throwing her under the bus. And he doubles down saying that everything they shared in the summer, their friendship leading to more type of relationship, was all just lies to use her because she was the best way they could find William Cipher (listen, about the name, i am not creative ok).

Of course we know that’s not the full truth, yes the Pines family are willing to do anything for each other, but it doesn’t mean Dipper didn’t genuinely love and appreciate the friendship/relationship he had with Pacifica, and even to some extent Gideon too. It’s kind of his flaw that he’ll do some heinous shit and justify it as something he does for the people he loves, but now he’s starting to love someone else that is directly an opposition to something that’s for the family he loves so much and…..well…..

Anyways, it’s ok bc the rev!falls equivalent for Not What He Seems comes after, there is a tentative sort of truce between them? Maybe? But Dipper will have to spend most of the rest of that summer (and probably the next couple of years) on his knees begging for forgiveness cause yeeesh. It’s ok, Mabel’s down there with him too. Gideon actually forgives a lot more easily towards the twins but Pacifica…..that’s gonna be a while.

But yeah sorry that took a long time to get back to, but hopefully to compensate here’s some pics of what I’m talking about with them. Feel free to ask more about them I’m kind of getting really back into Reverse Falls lol

Double Lifers as DC Superhero Duos!!

This is for a very niche audience but me and my roommate assigned DC superhero duos to the double life duos last night and I fear we may have ate:

Tango & Jimmy - Blue Beetle and Booster Gold

Now listen, Hermitcraft Tango and other life series tango (hey wild life I'm looking at you, you were so right) is most definitely the Flash (my roomie and I were thinking wally in life series and barry in hermitcraft because there is a distinct difference sh) but in the context of Double Life Tango and Jimmy's dynamic is 1000% Blue Beetle and Booster Gold. Jimmy is simply SO Booster Gold that Tango couldn't be anything else. Because Jimmy would risk the time line to try to get his bro back from the dead like nothing would stop that man. Also: "Bros before Heroes" HELLO??? This is literally the Empires SMP Ranchers reunion if you ask me. Tango's redstone skills & Ted's little tinkering??? IT ACTUALLY WORKS BRO LEAVE ME ALONE.

Impulse & Bdubs - Clark and Lois

Alright. Firstly, they're the married couple. The only ones that said yes we're married and stuck to it. They know everything, and they will stir shit up. They're the homewreckers and they plant seeds of doubt after all. Simply there's no other way to describe this duo they're just that bitch.

Etho & Joel - Green & yellow life: Oliver Queen & Dinah Lance, Red life: Poison Ivy & Harley Quinn

If we want to talk about being obsessed in any capacity we have to mention Ollie and Dinah. I fear that no other main superhero couple obsesses as hard as these two. They have stuck together in every damn universe and I love them for it.

When Harley wants something done, it is getting done (the ship burns everything burns), and maybe Ivy is a bit hesitant at first but when she sees her girl running into the flames she is following behind her with gasoline ready to go!! This one was actually kinda difficult ngl but we've become simply obsessed (haha) with it.

Scar & Grian - Hal Jordan & Bruce Wayne

There is no universe in our minds where Scar isn't Hal Jordan. Grian by himself is not Bruce, but Grian's relationship with Scar in Double Life is so Bruce Wayne and Hal Jordan, except maybe for Grian the Brucie Wayne persona would be real.

As for Scar: perpetual uncle vibes, constant stripping of his clothes, Hal would also be obsessed with pandas. He can be so so silly but also such a badass at the same time.

When contrasted with Grian's distaste of being paired with Scar is so funny. Everyone loves Hal, except for Bruce. I'm pretty sure if given the option, Bruce would partner up with Guy Gardener before Hal in a heartbeat! He never wants to work with the guy, and God Forbid Hal is ever right about anything! Eventually though, there's a reluctant allyship, and I guess Hal is okay.

Ren & BigB - Conner Kent & Tim Drake

We admit, it's been a bit since we've watched their povs, BUT THE VIBES. THE VIBESSSSS.

Kon would get himself killed by a falling kryptonian stalactite. If Tim and Kon were soul bound like Ren and BigB were, Tim would not be the reason they died. Period. Also the drama?? I fear Ren and Kon might be the same person ruh roh.

Grian & BigB (Secret Soulmates!) - Tim Drake & Bruce Wayne (switharoonie)

Nobody said any of these superhero duos had to be a specific type of relationship, these boys are FAMILY.

You may have noticed, that their roles have switched! But you see, Grian was the one who reached out to BigB, did the whole gesture, asked to be secret soulmates, the whole thing. Nothing was keeping him away from BigB. And Tim? When he thought Bruce was dead? Even before that when he just went big detective mode and figured out both Bruce and Dick's identities?? Nothing was keeping Timothy Jackson Drake away from being a part of the batfam, nothing!

Cleo & Martyn - Helena Bertinelli & Tiger

They work. They’re coworkers. They’re not too hostile. They make sense, ya know? They’re both good at what they do and that’s that, no funny business. When it comes down to it they’ll protect each other, they’ll standup for each other. Also Helena Bertinelli is also a sass master and what about it?

Pearl & Scott - Midnighter & Dick Grayson

Admittedly, the Pearl and Scott dynamic seems a bit more strained than Grayson and Midnighter, HOWEVER, its accurate. Alright, Midnighter is a little shit especially when it comes to Dick Grayson. They're reluctant allies (mostly on Grayson's part), and while they have extremely different ways of dealing with things, they somehow find the space to connect on some level.

I'd like to take this time to talk about Midnighter's ridiculous plan of attack which included handcuffing himself and Grayson to one another (It honestly made for such a unique fight scene and I became very quickly obsessed with the concept), but by God are they a little insane and dysfunctional. They take so much pride in annoying each other relentlessly.

Cleo & Scott - Helena Bertinelli & Dick Grayson

Probably the only spyral agent duo that could have (and did) make it out of that shit. That panel of Helena getting so fed up with Dick's lollipop??? Shall I say siblings? They make it so far out of the spyral agent shenanigans that Helena becomes a part of the batfamily (even if it's on the extended side). The divorce quartet is the spyral agent quartet my good sir, I take zero complaints on this.

We keep thinking about Life series members/ hermits as DC heroes & I hope we aren't the only ones

Were humans aware of martians before J’onn showed up to the public? Like, through satellite images or previous incursions?

Nope! While Mars is populated in my version, I have it so that one of the white martians' abilities is to be able to telepathically cloak Mars to appear as though it's an empty planet (even to technology). Think bigger-than-Wandavision-levels of sensory manipulation. I imagine Ma'aleca'andra as an isolationist planet, but martians still take interest in studying other planets (like J'onn does).

I'm still back and forth with perhaps other aliens visiting Mars and having a type of relation (peaceful or otherwise, but not outright a war) with Martians. But yeah, for the people of Earth- they don't know about Martians.

I'm not the best at serious posts, but that article up there reminded me of how important it is that people like you stand up for us. So hold on while I try to get this out of my mushy end-of-work-day brain.

We could fight this fight ourselves for decades trying to reach the equal laws, gender affirming trans healthcare that doesn't have a 2-5+ soul-eating years of waiting time, medical care with equal knowledge of lgbtqia+ bodies, and, what is often forgotten, inclusion in the little everyday areas of life like our way of speaking or things being set up or designed with the existence of queer people in mind.

But you joining in could get us there so much faster.

The power you have as a hetero cis person is that you set the standard for what is seen as the average way of treating us among other hetero cis people. You have been given the power of deciding what's "normal" and I'm begging you to use it.

Richard Green is a great example of to what extent your actions can help our situation, and smaller ways of support still add up to a great impact on society, and could make the days of the queer people you interact with.

Educate yourself before you speak up, but don't be silent.

One thing I rarely see in injury and chronic pain fics is the grief that comes with missing out on stuff you love because you can no longer do them without hurting yourself. Writers who have been disabled their whole lives (or at least a long time) tend to forget that not all disabled people are used to being disabled. For able-bodied characters, especially athletic ones like vigilantes, a serious injury could mean a jarring change that includes giving up the things that mean the most to them.

I was physically fine until I was 18. Back then, my sense of self was entwined with interests that required a lot of movement and dexterity. I started doing MMA in middle school for self-defense. I loved parkour and even had a few hundred subscribers on my old YouTube channel. I learned to shoot and was gifted my first gun when I was 16. I took up multiple instruments. You get the idea.

My motorcycle accident fucked up the joints on my left side—my knee and shoulder especially, but also wrist to an extent. When it first happened, I thought I'd be on crutches for a bit but things would eventually get back to normal. The pain didn't go away even after I got rid of the crutches but I figured it was just residual and I should do what I'd been doing before. It's why I turned to substances—to block the pain and do what I love, but that's another topic. I didn't recognize my injury as a disabling thing until the end of the pandemic, when I put my parkour channel on an indefinite hiatus because it was seriously wearing my body down. It might sound silly to you but I was devastated. It's like if Spider-Man wasn't allowed to swing from buildings. It took me a long time to make peace with losing that part of me.

Another piece of that grief is even when you can do stuff, it's not the same because you have to exclude certain aspects of it for your own health. It's like the Robin that died and came back wrong. I can't use certain gym equipment and I have to tell my sparring partners what to avoid. I don't go to the shooting range much now because I can't extend my arm and hold a rifle for the amount of time it takes to aim without it starting to hurt. I'm a drummer, but I need breaks throughout the setlist and I can't do anything too fast or complex with the pedals, which means I can't play some of my favorite songs and my band is limited in what we write and perform. I can't take my motorcycle on road trips without frequent rest stops. Making accommodations helps physically, but emotionally, they're not always easy to accept because that means accepting the pain as a long-term disability rather than a temporary setback.

This got super long because I think it's unexplored in fics so some tips for creators:

First, learn how the body works and how stupidly fast and easy it is to get hurt. Mine was on a residential road because I didn't pay attention for 0.2 seconds

Learn the difference between internalized ableism and being upset over becoming disabled. I think a lot of writers skip over the feelings someone would naturally experience because it can be construed as ableism. Let them be in denial, sad, angry, etc. upon finding out because acceptance almost never happens right away. That's different from being a dick to themselves or others based on disability

Also, not everyone uses the same labels or has the same vocabulary to describe themselves. Different characters will have different ways of describing depending on their personality, level of knowledge, where they come from, and their relationship with their disability. I still don't really call myself disabled since I don't have it as bad as others so I tell people what happened instead (anyone who says "differently abled" will receive a different ability from me in the Denny's parking lot)

Think about how they cope with their new disability. Do they realize it's a disability right away? Do they talk to someone? Search desperately for a cure? Numb the pain? Turn to alternative methods? Do they worry about something else first, like money? Do they develop something else because of it, like a mental illness? Again, coping poorly is not ableism

What stays the same and what changes? I think about the difference between Forrest Gump and Lieutenant Dan after they were both wounded in battle

If they have a passion they can no longer pursue, it doesn't make much sense for them drop it so readily. Maybe they find a way to continue with accommodations (a good place to get creative!). Maybe they try and push through anyway. If they do ultimately resign, include the thought process and internal conflict behind it

I just remembered when Ositio Bimbo/Cucurucho/Census Bureau, upon being asked (I forget who did but when I find the clip again I'll remember, it was around the first few streams), said their name was "Smile"

It then occurred to me that the TTS voice they have would read ":)" as "Smile" hence my theory here that Osito Bimbo sometimes speaks as the server or through the Federation in in-game chat

And based on the event the images above are referencing, I think we can confirm 10101100 clearly works with the Federation

One of my pet peeves about how people talk about laios is the joke that he’s “never masked a day in his life” and like. Tbh real lol, I’ve made that joke before too . But the issue comes from when people say it seriously, and i think it’s important to note that laios was masking for, like, at the very least the entire time his party had been together before the start of the series. Namari, toshiro, chilchuck, and marcille were all shocked and weirded out upon him talking about the idea and act of eating monsters, and the latter two continuously poke at him for his interest in monsters in general, something that likely hadn’t been happening before.

Hell, he even has a line confessing his special interest in monsters, making it the first time he was actually open about it

This isnt to say he didn’t talk about monsters before, as we see later with namari telling mr tance that laios is the one to listen to when it comes to them

The Touden Party was infamous for being extremely skilled in the dungeon, and a large part of that was because of laios’s knowledge on monsters, but there were never any rumors or talk of one of the leaders being weird, even when its noted once or twice that word travels fast in the dungeon world

All of this to say, its extremely nice that we get to see laios when he isnt masking, because he doesn’t have to anymore! He gets to indulge in his interest to quite literally the fullest extent and all he has to worry about is some light teasing as his friends get more used to it over time
