always a disappointment when you're reading a romance novel and they're getting down to it and the heroine is all "oh wait I'm sorry I'm on my period" and the hero's like "oh it's okay let's cuddle :)" instead of doing this

#romance novel blogging #not very fond of ali wong these days but this moment.#this moment lives in my brain #i think i've read... 3 books? that i can remember? where a period isn't an issue #and it's not that the other ones are gross about it but it's like #a disproportionate amount of heroines who don't want period sex #and a disproportionate amount of heroes who don't even offer like 'oh i am DOWN if you're down'#like i've read hundreds (if not thousands by now) of romance novels #and 3...? come on now #now to be fair out of those hundreds a relatively small portion reference periods #unless it's to be like 'SHE'S NOT PREGNANT YAY!!!' (or 'she not pregnant boooo')#but still #idk represent real life a little people are and have always fucked on their periods #not everyone by any means and it's totally okay for those who won't #but. like.#you're telling me ROMANCE LEADS are skipping a week out of every month?#when nORMAL PEOPLE don't?#plssss #[and thus ends caroline's quarterly rant about a lack of period sex in romance novels]

#idk abt this one. i never know if i’m religious or have mild psychosis. i think it’s pretty easy to tell the difference generally cause one #time i thought i was god & had total control over our world and that was a hashtag crazy mental illness moment & i’ve always had vague #feelings that i can control the world via cheat codes like closing doors in certain ways or punching walls but these days i mostly #understand that that is. ocd.#ocd tendencies we shall say actually since i lack a diagnosis or certainty of any kind of except for the knowledge that my brains #silly sometimes.#but also i do like have a genuine spirituality to me sorry that that makes me crazy or whatever & i believe in some god adjacent thing & for #want of a better word sort of in ‘magic’. by a modern sensibility this makes me crazy #but. Like.#anti psychiatry #<- to an extent. i have no proper full formed opinions on the matter & am sure it is very helpful sometimes But.#people are people at the end of the day not diagnostic criteria #and i find it silly when anything predisposes that there is no magic or religion in our world #oliver talks

How long did it take you to beat Malena??? Bc I'm so over this I can't do it lol

I've never defeated Malenia and I never will.

I saw her boss room, said "cool" and turned around and didn't fucking do it, because while I love her and her lore, I think you can't have a boss that breaks the main fucking rule of a Soulsborne: "it's hard but it's doable if you learn".

Malenia mechanically is broken. And she breaks the game completely. Here's a tip, anon: don't defeat her if you can't. Don't try if you can't. Don't wonder how you managed to actually beat bosses that almost input-read and can't defeat Malenia.

You're not the problem: FromSoftware is.

Get more into the lore, that's how these games sometimes go.

#i open tumblr and... i ignored a post asking people to tag what book rewired their brains in teenagehood but that gilgamesh quote reminded me that, actually, a "world mythologies for kids" kinda book i read at twelve was where i first found out about gilgamesh and enkidu and i think it was my first contact with gay love. like i knew terms like gay already (asked my f*ther what's the word for a gay woman at age like, 7) but i haven't encountered it in art or stories, or didn't understand the subtext where i did. but there was a picture of gilgamesh cradling a dead enkidu that just cut through all layers of catholic conditioning and lack of understanding in my brain and i knew what love was.

wait do people read first person stories and think they're the ones in the story???

Saw people talking about not liking first person, which is fair, but their reasoning was like "I would not do that" and I don't understand that mindset.

First person stories are still about a character. A character making their own decisions. First person isn't about you???? At least I thought it wasn't. What am I missing? I've always seen first person as just a more in-depth look into a character's mind and stricter POV. Not as a reader stand-in.
