The worst part of the GOT and HOTD adaptations is that they remove any sense of narrative or themes being explored from George's writing. The showrunners rewrite characters and change plotlines on a whim and remove any sense of cohesive storytelling. There's just...literally no point to the story and the writers struggle to come up with sensible explanations for the changes they've decided to make.

I think the people saying that daemon being violent in war or a stupid tourney and in defense of rhaenyra's honour means he's a red flag and rhaenyra should have seen it coming when he chokes her and when he further abuses her in season 2 are being really obtuse and are flattening daemon as a character just like these fucking idiot sacks who are writing the script because I hate to break it to you but daemon's violence is only seen as exceptional because he's such a famous figure in life and death. everything about him is sensationalised to the point of irrationality and it is a HUGE failure that the script seems to buy this and in fact cast it in an altogether different light. it's not as if violence and maleness walk hand in hand in asoiaf, right? right?? you all need to buy some of that complexity you stan the greens for <3

I gave in and listened to the full soundtrack to the new great gatsby musical after being goaded by my loving friends and I’ve been launched back into my hyperfixation from last year. The vibes are fantastic and I kinda want to see the show now
That being said it’s painfully obviously that the producers just wanted a “roaring 20s” themed show and the writers skimmed the TGG page on sparknotes and tried to cover it up by putting total broadway powerhouses in the main roles
Nevertheless I’m a Myrtle apologist now sorry

Hi! 😊 Just wanted to ask, how many more requests are in line for the House of the Dragon fandom? Could we get any teasing crumbs for those? 🥺🥺🥺
I'm going to be honest... Half of the recent HOTD I've pulled out of thin air 😭
In honor of S2 I've decided to make a list of characters to write for but I've realized I don't care for half of the men in the show 💀 it feels a lil odd writing for Luke cause he's so smol

I have been TAGGED (by the wonderful @evilbunnyking thank you muah <3) to share 5 songs I really like, so! Let's Get to It (〜 ̄▽ ̄)〜
Ultimate favorite #1: Under Pressure by Queen. Do I need to link it? Y'all know it.
You know how sometimes it's hard to pin down a favorite something-or-other? Not song, this is hands-down my favorite. Ever. Always. I was a full-ass adult in my 20s before I realized that when it says Queen and David Bowie it meant David Bowie is actually singing in it I was ASHAMED how i I even whaaaat Fun fact: the CD I grew up with that had this on it has a slightly different edit than the regular one, so any time I hear it on spotify or the radio I go a little crazy because it's off.
The rest are going under a cut because I'm linking in youtube videos so you don't have to go anywhere or interrupt any current playlist you've got going <3
#2 Currently on Repeat: Can't stop listening to Matt Maeson's Problems
youtube
I don't regularly use the repeat button, actually, I'll just hit back at the end as many times as I feel like, but I've done it, I've put this on actual repeat. I've also been alternating a bit with his Sanctified as well, idk what it is but both of them are an infection right now.
youtube
#3 A long-term favorite: Paranoid by Sfven
youtube
Found it ages ago and it really jived with Gale; if it shuffles through I'll give it a good listen or four. Not sure why the video looks like it was made in the early 90s. Honestly a little off-putting to me but the audio is what matters, okay.
#4 A LONG-long-term favorite: Jewel's Amen
youtube
Oh man. I fucking love this song. Top 5 probably. My dad had this CD and I kind of made it mine. Then lost it. So I bought a replacement. And lost that one. And third time's the charm I still have the replacement's replacement. I think. Somewhere. She ended up being the first concert I went to, a small little acoustic one in the local Shriners' center.
But just. The feel of it, the imagery, I still want to draw something for it that really connects with me for it but it's just uakygfkfausdgf I can't :C
#5 (Sort of) Local Plug: I Hope You Know by Supaman ft. Ashley Hall
youtube
Supaman regularly visits the first school I worked at, and so many of the students there look up to him for good reason. He's a good guy, he fancy danced at the Macy's Parade, and he makes music that relies heavily on blending rap with traditional instruments and vocals. If I remember correctly, some of his videos show him dancing, if you're interested. I like this one in particular because Hall's vocals are so pleasant, I love multilingual songs, and they sampled a western meadowlark and you cannot go wrong with western meadowlark noises. I hadn't actually seen this video version before and it's very sweet 🥺
Honorable mention musicians/groups that I don't see mentioned often but deer lord this kind of got out of hand already: Run River North Forrest Day Isador Magic Bronson The Hush Sound
Do NOT under any circumstance assume there's a theme or common element across any of these.
I suppose I'm supposed to tag people, so hmmmmm @glassbearclock @taelonsamada @andr0leda @inedibleobject @fooltofancy @elemenepee And uhhhhh anyone else. I have some new mutuals and I am not brave enough to be the first person to tag in this relationship, and I also don't want to just tag EVERYONE so there are still people to pass it along to, so if you don't see your name here pretend it is (if you want)

versions of booster gold made by people who obviously dont know much about booster can be so infuriating because they tend to depict him as stupid or as a joke and then people who only know him from these depictions in more popular media have a skewed impression of him

The biggest failure in the show’s writing is the nonexistent relationship between Rhaenyra and Aegon II.
They’re siblings who will be warring against each other and they have not even interacted with each other.

Leaks are so fucking garbage lmao, although I don't believe rumours but judging by the shit s1 was i wouldn't be surprised if all of these leaks turned out to be true💀💀💀 also the show has this weird obsession with Aemond if these rumours are true, they're giving him Aegon's arc lmaoo they're destroying the greens and don't give a shit about team black young cast just for the sake of Aemond lol. Guess they want him to be their milking cow.
yeah, I'm not buying any of the rumors. Do I expect it to be a shitshow? sure. But usually closely-accurate leaks come when the first eps start airing. So I'm not trusting anything I'm reading
The Twitter side of it goes wild of course. Apparently there's a new one that goes 'after the Kingsguard call Rhaenyra "the cruel" during Jaehaerys's, the smallfolk will throw fish and fruits at the carriages carrying the greens and chant "Long live queen Rhaenyra"' and team black folks are cheering as if this suddenly takes away from the fact that we never saw Rhaneyra being beloved by highborns and commons 💀 and team green is having a meltdown over the possibility of Helaena and Alicent having food thrown at them (which is another rumor) because it doesn't fit their "beloved by smallfolk" headcanon that they wholeheartedly believed to be true.
As for the characters, honestly I expect the most attention to be given to Aemond and Daemon because they're the most popular characters by the general audience

If the WOT books are teaching me anything about myself, it’s that I *despise* a Fated Romance storyline. The nonconsensual vibes in the female characters’ POV chapters are just really not it for me.
I can’t decide if I want this to pay off in some way later so that it has to be part of the story and I just have to live with it, or if it being that important to the final story will make it worse…

i want to write many things. many many things. in all of them, i would like a minimum of two bi characters, and in one of them i want all characters to be bi.
neither is common in media, so i guess it means i have to make it myself, even if it's just for me.
#also bc i want original media blah blah blah#and by 'bi' i mean 'bisexuality/biromanticism in its many forms incl. ace/aro bi folks and split attraction bi folks'#bi#bisexual#i want content thank you#i think the first bi character i saw was rosa diaz in brooklyn 99 when i was 14. i first thought 'oh i might be a little bi' when i was 15.#i also saw brittany on glee. again when i was 14. and crazy ex-girlfriend i think i was 15.#and those are really the three main shows that actually said 'bisexual' or 'bi'.#if i had these more frequently or from an earlier age i might have Figured Some Things Out earlier#(also i didn't watch lok so that's why i'm not mentioning it)#and then toh and hsmtmts and heartstopper have existed as more recent properties#and clearly i haven't been including books eg. well. heartstopper. and an absolutely remarkable thing by hank green.#but still. the fact is that there is not a lot of bisexuality in mainstream media. (it's especially lacking for bi folks who aren't women)#i'm really grateful that rosa was the first bi character i saw#bc they explained 'she goes both ways. this isn't a phase or point of confusion for her.'#and the way her parents reacted is exactly how i imagine mine would#i got sidetracked#and even still. only one of those shows has multiple canonically bi characters.#and maybe if i had these from a younger age or more frequently i would've been able to notice 'that's not platonic/a rolemodel'#i'm really grateful that we have shows with younger target audiences showing bi characters but that said it's so few#and i'm still really thankful that hsmtmts depicts a girl who's multisexual who has a boyfriend but figures out 'oh this is attraction.#to a girl.'#and she processes that. and while it's not perfect (i made a post on it mid-september' gosh i felt seen.#also also while i'm here i don't want to write exclusively secular queer characters. i mean 1. that's not an experience i've lived#but 2. even if it were. apparently a lot of queer adults in the us identify as religious.#and it's selfish but. if i had a queer christian character that would've helped me a lot. like there are queer ways of approaching faith.#how does a christian character approach the realisation that they aren't straight?#it's a journey#and it would've helped me understand. before i knew anything about myself. that it was okay.#that sometimes the nuance is most clearly seen when you exist in it. when you are the grey area.

Since people seemed to enjoy my last posts about Jekyll and Hyde, I thought I would share one of my little head canons for the book. This is that I think Hyde would be conventionally attractive based on physical appearance alone. We don't learn all that much about what he actually looks like because most people are entirely focused on the feeling of repulsion from how evil he is. The majority of the descriptions of him are about his personality rather than anything else. However, Enfield does say that there is nothing wrong with his appearance. If it wasn't for his awful vibes, there wouldn't be anything bad about looking at him.
I like to think of this considering certain beliefs of the time. It was common in the Victorian era to believe that someone's exterior matched their exterior. If they looked nice, they were a good person. If people thought they looked strange or unappealing, they were evil. Characters keep saying Hyde has 'a feeling of deformity' because they think he is so evil that it should physically manifest in some way. They think he should match their view of what an awful person looks like. Hyde doesn't though. I think this effect would be enhanced even more if he matched their beauty standards, and thus their idea of what a good person should look like. They are looking at someone they should like, but they don't. There is nothing they dislike about his physical appearance, so they shouldn't dislike him in such an intense way. That would add to their feeling of distress because he contradicts their ideas in that way. It would make him more unsettling.
It also links to the central idea of the book that there is more to people than meets the eye. Jekyll's appearance is frequently described positively. He is 'handsome' and 'well-made'. They would look at him and assume he was a good person. He matches that idea. However, there is evil within him and this appearance is deceiving. The point of the book is that good and evil are within everyone. Looks don't come into it. It's about something deeper than that. Hyde looking exactly the way people feel he shouldn't conveys this perfectly, I think.
