I've spent all afternoon thinking about the line from Wentworth's letter "you sink your voice, but I can distinguish the tones of that voice when they would be lost on others" and about how that really is the most important part of the letter. Yes "you pierce my soul" and "I have loved none but you" and "I offer myself to you again with a heart even more your own than when you almost broke it, eight years and a half ago" are all more swoon-worthy. But the whole point of Persuasion is how Anne suffers because none of her friends or family acknowledge her needs or anything she says. She is made small by everyone around her. She is persuadable because she has been stripped of her agency; not by the circumstances of her life, but because the people in her life have talked over and down to her so much that she has stopped resisting. She knows that she won't be heard, so she just stops speaking. But then Wentworth hears her voice! He hears her, sees her, and he loves her for who she is, not what he wants her to be. I think Jane Austen knew exactly what she was doing by including that line. It's so subtle in such a purposeful way.

Darcy's first proposal is a clusterfuck on so many levels, and I love it, but I think my favorite is how much shit he talks about the Bennets. None of it is untrue, but also, real bold words for you to say to a woman who is currently being forced to spend weeks on end socializing with your insufferable aunt, Fitzwillaim. That's a nice glass house you got there. Would be a shame if someone... threw stones.

TDIOBCB challenge - day 29:  domestic life

"Many lunar cycles have passed, and the seasons have turned since the deeds I am about to recount took place. Yet, undiminished remains the memory of those extraordinary figures, whose names still echo through the corridors of time. I, a humble Maester of the Citadel, driven by the sacred duty to preserve and pass down the ancient chronicles, have taken up quill and parchment to immortalize the glories of the reign of the renowned Queen Rhaenyra, first of the her name, then known as "the Great," and her august consort, the Rogue Prince, Daemon of House Targaryen. Many were her achievements, and even more were carried out in her name. Yet, this narrative will not dwell on those glories, but on the lives of five illustrious descendants whose deeds shaped the greatness of our kingdom. Perhaps the reader is already acquainted with their names, celebrated in song and record, but for those who might need a reminder, they are: Aegon the Third, known as the Golden; Viserys the Clever, whose mind was as sharp and dangerous as a thousand swords; Rhaena the Charming, whose grace and beauty conquered castles and armies; Visenya the Dreamer, whose sight extended far beyond the visible; and finally Baela the Glorious, the most eminent of all."

Congratulation to the lovely @valentinopastine for becoming my last clinet of 2024 and the first of 2025 all at once!🎇🎆 At first I planned to finish this illustration before the end of "last" year, but I wanted to outdone myself, so I took my time. And I'm happy to have done it cause this is really what I wanted to post as my first illustration of this new year. I hope that my future artworks will be good as this one if not better. Westeros regions fashion studies: The Crownlands

"The crownlands are one of the nine constituent regions of the Seven Kingdoms of Westeros. It was never a sovereign kingdom, instead being contested by river kings, Storm Kings, and local petty kings until Aegon the Conqueror seized control of the area during his Wars of Conquest and made it his primary foothold on the continent. Since then, the crownlands have been ruled directly by the Iron Throne, first House Targaryen and, after Robert's Rebellion, House Baratheon. Bastards of noble origin raised in the crownlands are given the surname Waters."

After weeks after announcing it, finally the first part of this project is completed!

I saw many fashion studies about asoiaf houses in the past (ex @nata.draws), and I wanted to join this train too, but instead on the sinles houses I thought it would be more interesting to focous on regions.

While working on my fic I did some researches on the topic and with the time I devolped a specific design for some characters and their fashion. So I thought it would be interesting to use these reaserches to make a more wide fashion study on how I saw every Westeros region.

Every region is inspired to a particular historical fashion period of real history, that I choose based on my vision of these territories and the vibes they gave to me.

For the Crownlands I decided to use the 1500s French style as inspiration.

The next region will be the Riverlands: can you guess the historical period that I uesed as reference?

"The riverlands, historically the Kingdom of Rivers and Hills, are a central region of the Seven Kingdoms of Westeros, consisting of the rich, fertile, and populous areas around the three forks of the Trident and the northern Blackwater Rush. At the time of Aegon's Conquest the riverlands and the Iron Islands were ruled by House Hoare, the Kings of the Isles and the Rivers,although native river kings ruled centuries earlier. Because of their central position in Westeros and lack of natural boundaries, the riverlands have been a frequent battleground. The people of the riverlands are known as "rivermen" or occasionally "riverlanders",and they are a mixture of hardy warriors, peaceful fisherfolk, and devout smallfolk. Their lords have a reputation for being notoriously quarrelsome,and are referred to as "river lords". Noble bastards born in the riverlands are given the surname Rivers. The riverlands are ruled from Riverrun by House Tully, the Lords Paramount of the Trident. Notable houses of the region have included Blackwood, Mallister and Strong"

Westeros fashion studies: The Reach

"The Reach,historically the Kingdom of the Reachor the Green Realm,is one of the constituent regions of the Seven Kingdoms on the continent of Westeros. It was formerly a sovereign nation ruled by the Kings of the Reach before Aegon's Conquest. It is the second-largest of the kingdoms behind the north and is considered the most fertile and heavily-populated part of Westeros. The Reach is considered the home of chivalry in Westeros. It is the place where knighthood is looked upon with the greatest reverence and esteemed the most. It is also the place where the rules for tourneys are the most stringent and managed. The Reach is ruled from the castle of Highgarden by House Tyrell. Notable houses have included, Fossoway,Hightower and Redwyne. Noble bastards born in the Reach are given the surname Flowers."

Here we are my friend! It's finally my birthday and to celebrate this joyfull ocation - and the 900 followers here on IG - here there is my second DTIYS!!

As some of you remember we decided the topic of this challenge via IG and the Green kids were the winner.

I want to make it clear that this is a version of them inspired by my au fic, so it's possible that my design choice are not very in line with the canon of the book or of the show. Still, like my first challenge, you don't need to have read my fic to join this one!

However I will give you some context about it.

As it's written on my fic description in TDIOBCB the Blacks win the dance, Rhaenyra became Queen but Aegon and his family are spared and continues to live in the castle.

This illustration depict a family portaits of the 3 siblings around the year 142 AC, so in the middle of the events of my fic, and the portait is made by Visenya for her aunt Helaena. The three siblings are 19 and 17 years old.
