Just thinking a lot in the time after the Crusade ends and Nela's mental health blatantly nosediving with no end in aight. No matter how much people try to help her, it doesn't work. They sometimes succeed in distracting her long enough to get her to act as normal, but that's just a fleeting mirage.

This goes on for months, not even Ember can push through to help her. Each week a bit more withdrawn, each week a bit less energy to fake being fine.

Work is one of the few things to reliably pull her out of her hole for a bit. So as much as everyone wants her to take a break (she obviously needs it), doing it could cause more damage than anything else.

When Samel finally manages to get through to her, it doesn't fix anything. Not immediately. However, it finally gives her the ability to take the help offered to her, yo search comfort in others and, slowly, pour out everything that has been eating her from inside. A full recovery will still take years, but she finally takes the first step out and the downward spiral stops.

Firstly Peonia

Peonia, the elder daughter of Mario and Peach, is a strong-willed and independent young lady who is passionate about racing and competes in roller shaking competitions. Despite her sweet demeanor, she can be quite sassy and stubborn, especially when it comes to protecting her cousin and brother. Despite her love for girly things and her admiration of vintage fashion and makeup, Peonia is also an adrenaline junkie and loves high-risk taking. She is a champion roller shaker and often hangs out with a group of friends at her school, some of whom are gyaru girls.Peonia's physique takes after her mother's side of the family, giving her a thicker body structure, and she was bullied for her Italian accent as a child. Despite this, she has embraced her curly hair as well as the tooth gap that she is self-conscious about. She is a fan of horror shows and movies, especially those that involve horror romance and found family storylines. Peonia's favorite dessert is strawberry shortcake, and she enjoys watching magical girl shows in her spare time. Secondly Molise

Molise, the baby brother of Mario and Peach, is a child.At times, he can be a bit of a brat and wants to take control of situations, leading to him being quite bossy. However, he means well and is genuinely naive and smart even despite his young age. Despite his occasional bratty behavior, he has a kind heart and cares deeply for his family and friends.Molise shares some of his mother's traits, such as his pointy ears, and blonde hair. He's a bit of a neat freak and prefers to wear protective gear whenever he plays outside, so his clothes remain clean and dry. He has a blunt and honest personality. Also prone to being quite clingy and a bit spoiled at times. He also likes to keep himself entertained by watching cartoons and cheesy TV shows from the 90s and early 2000s, and playing card games. However, he's not a fan of horror movies, and in fact, he hates being scared or feeling spooked in any way.He is quite picky and tends to stick to the foods he likes. His favorite snacks include cookies, and he loves sharing Cassata ice-cream cake with his family. He's also not a fan of fart jokes or gross humor, finding them to be immature and childish.

Thirdly Lusia

Lusia, the only child of Daisy and Luigi, is an avid sports enthusiast and lover of literature. She shares some of her mother's fiery determination but is also known for her nervous nature, something she inherits from her father. Despite being a bit self-conscious about her appearance at times, Lusia finds solace in the fact that she has a sassy cousin in Peonia who helps boost her self-esteem.Lusia is particularly passionate about baseball and archery, two activities that she enjoys thoroughly. Though she loves sports and reading, she can sometimes overwork herself and is guilty of comparing herself to others, especially with respect to her body type. Lusia is a lean and athletic woman, stands 5’8ft tall and wears braces thanks to a childhood habit of eating metal. She has sharp fangs, and also has freckles with light black spots due to acne. Her favorite outfits are sporty ones and hates wearing dull and boring clothes but on weekends she prefers comfort and rides her skateboard while sipping her ice slushie. Lusia strives to live a comfortable and relaxing life, but sometimes she just can't control the urge to be active and adventurous.

I'm gonna try and separate this from my thoughts on them smonking a weed, because while the experience is similar, it's definitely different. And rather than describing the entire experience of getting into it like I did on that one, I'm just gonna start talking about some miscellaneous stuff.

I feel like Natsuki would generally prefer to remain sober due to personal issues with her father, among other things. I feel like she probably had an experimental period with it, only to realize that she was quickly losing control of it, and that scared her more than anything else. Under other circumstances I'd say she's the girl who showed up tipsy to class and had a water bottle full of vodka, but I think she'd be too stubborn for that, especially with a support group like the Literature Club.

This all being said, I think that though she'd like to be the designated driver, she'd probably end up saying "fuck it" and doing a few shots for the fun of it. She loosens up in general when drunk, getting simultaneously cattier and kinder. She kinda just opens up and says whatever's on her mind, which lends itself to a lot of more open discussion about how much the Literature Club really means to her.

She has a tendency to get really giggly, which immediately makes everyone else in the room very giggly, until they're all rolling on the floor about nothing in particular. I feel like she'd get testier while drunk, but be more prone to burst into tears than to start a fight, which is immediately off-putting. Her tolerance is okay, but she is the smallest, so it's not over the top.

Monika's a bit of a curious case. I think she'd generally like to keep her wits about her, but as long as she's with friends and having fun, she doesn't mind having a few drinks to use as a social lubricant. I feel like she'd be quick to try and keep herself under control, but as the night goes on she'd go from "I'm not gonna drink THAT MUCH" to "wait, wait, how many--how many shots was that...?" pretty quickly. Of course, the others help her to make sure she drinks plenty of water too.

She attempts to keep some level of decorum as she drinks, but progressively, that falls apart. Has a tendency to prattle on about subjects she's interested in but has no real moment to talk about. The most common word which falls out of her mouth while drunk is "love", whether it's talking about how much she loves her food, your top, this song, or her friends.

She's usually very embarrassed about the entire thing in the morning (and hungover) but she's still happy to do it. She gets the sense that it brings them all closer together. Her tolerance is decent, but she has trouble noticing when it's starting to hit, so she ends up deeper than she expected.

Sayori enjoys drinking (though she really hates the taste), because it gets everybody to loosen up more, and it gives her a sense of security knowing that everybody's being more honest. And even more so that while everybody's lost a lot of capacity to lie, they're all just closer friends, and all honestly enjoying each other's company. She also finds everybody hilarious and adorable. Ironically, I think she'd probably be the most responsible while smashed.

She'd probably find it really funny how shit her hand eye coordination gets, and try to do a whole bunch of stuff to test how rough it actually is, invariably falling on her ass and laughing. Sayori while drunk is really just Sayori sober but a lot more sluggish and slurred, which makes the things she says sound a lot sillier.

She's the type to drunk text you at 2 AM saying exactly how much she loves you, and how much you mean to her. She feels incredibly embarrassed about it in the morning and gets slightly annoyed at her drunk self for putting her into this situation, but it almost never goes poorly. On the subject she loses any sense of fear talking to strangers while drunk, and just randomly includes others in her conversations with people for the fun of it, which is simultaneously hilarious and embarrassing for everyone else involved.

Sayori is the one person among them who ends up miraculously without a hangover (if she does everything you're supposed to when you drink, which isn't always...she tries to make sure she has a full stomach, at least) and although she has a pretty solid tolerance, she likes to act drunker than she is just for the fun of it.

Yuri likes other people having fun drinking, and doesn't mind getting a little tipsy herself, but knows full well that she's going to do a lot of embarrassing things while drunk, and is thusly very anxious to actually go any deeper than that. This doesn't stop her from occasionally indulging a little more than necessary.

She ends up talking a lot more than normal, though it's more often just little comments and one-liners that you wouldn't expect out of Yuri, which makes them funnier. She ends up pretty fluidly able to explain things that would take her a whole lot longer to actually enunciate while sober. This frustrates her slightly, but over time she's able to work out exactly why it is, and working on letting go a lot of the anxieties holding her back in that sense.

Yuri gets blatantly weirder, but also pretty clearly more affectionate with how she acts around everyone else. Drinking makes her bolder, and though it'll be embarrassing for all of them in the morning, it's pretty clear that Yuri would be a ladykiller if she had that confidence while sober.

Of course, it's all among friends, so it's okay...right?

Yuri ends up with less of a headache and nausea and more of a general sluggishness that pervades her for at least a day afterward. She prefers to avoid it, so doesn't suggest drinking herself. Her tolerance is around the middle, but when it hits, it hits, and she tends to get over it slower.

MC typically gets called when they need a ride to or from some place. He keeps a bottle of vodka handy and is not above daydrinking alone, but the others do frequently invite him to go drinking if they ever go out. Natsuki sometimes gives him shit for ordering girly drinks, but it's all in good fun.

NUGGET (Horrorswap Sans)

Backstory: After Chara left the Underground, killing Toriel on the way out, Nugget felt immensely betrayed, taking responsibility for what happened despite his brother telling him not to do it. He should have listened. After a short period of calm, Alphys took over the Underground and immediately turned everyone against him, pleading that he should be the one to resolve the situation since he caused it in the first place. Nugget had been shocked to hear his supposed best friend talk against him so suddenly and had to accept against his will to become her right arm, to help find a way out. First happy to help, Nugget quickly realized Alphys was no longer his friend. Full of grief and remorse, she thinks he's fully responsible for the death of her mentor and never stops to remind him of this fact.

Then the famine happened and everything turned even worse. Nugget silently witnessed Alphys' terrible management of the situation while trying to help his brother, stuck in Snowdin, to survive the best he could, in New Home, as he was forbidden to leave. With the lack of food, Alphys turned paranoid and started to accuse him of not being loyal enough and hiding things from her to the point she decided one day to throw his brother in prison, to make sure Nugget wouldn't try something stupid.

As time passed, Nugget was promoted to executioner. He was the one who killed every human who fell, both to prove to Alphys that he was not on the human side and by fear of her hurting his brother. He hated every second of the situation, as he clearly was no killer. Another problem was the LV intoxication that slowly ate his soul and made him distance more and more from what he was doing and from his own personality. Nugget fell into depression, grew colder, and barely talked anymore. He tried to rebel a few times, but Alphys immediately made his brother pay for his actions, so he resigned to stay enslaved to her.

Eventually, he decided to protect himself by giving up on his brother and considering him dead. Alphys refused to let him see him anyway, so for all he knew, Pumpkin was long gone. Threats stopped acting on him, and frustrated, Alphys kept torturing his brother for many years.

Everything changed when another human fell. Nugget killed them. A few times. Somehow, they always came back, like Chara. Forced to not kill them, he tried to bring them to Alphys, but on the road, the kid tried to befriend them. First very cold, Nugget slowly warmed up to them, to the point that, when they reached Alphys, he couldn't resign to let them die. With the help of the child, they defeated Alphys. Nugget could have spared her in the end, but he was too angry and bitter for that. He ended her life, not feeling happy about this issue, but not sad either. The child did the rest, breaking the barrier with the souls they collected so far.

Nugget then faced the consequences when he went to free his brother. Pumpkin was unrecognizable, completely broken, and scared of him. Things were never the same after that. His brother could never forgive him for giving up on him, and he couldn't either. It seemed the brothers have nothing in common anymore, and even if Nugget tried, he could tell there were too many things keeping them apart by now. They live separately now, Pumpkin with Asgore, and him on his own. It's better this way. They see each other once a year for Gyftmas, but that's always very awkward. He hopes their relationship will be better someday, but that's probably denial.

PUMPKIN (Horrorswap Papyrus)

Backstory: Pumpkin had a really bad time Underground and suffered the consequences of Alphys and his brother's war. First, he had to face the crisis all alone, as his brother had to work for Alphys and was never home after he had the brilliant idea to tell Alphys it was his fault if Chara killed Toriel and left. Added to that, he had to help Asgore in the Ruins, as Alphys badly injured him when she exiled him. He cares a lot about his best friend, who was there for him through everything and he hates seeing him so down after he tried so hard to bring peace to the Underground.

When the famine struck, Pumpkin struggled a lot to find food. Being naturally kind and empathetic, he had a bad habit of giving what he found to children in the streets because he couldn't bear to watch them die of starvation. Until that day when he was talking with Asgore through the Ruins' door and the royal guard suddenly showed up, saying he was under arrest. Asgore tried to talk in his favor, but the guards became threatening and Pumpkin didn't want the old king to be killed because of him so he surrendered. Worst mistake of his life.

He quickly found out he was here to stay, after days of imprisonment. It wasn't so bad at first, but then Alphys clearly became unstable and regularly came to visit him to empty her bag, first only by talking, but really soon with her fists. He became basically her punching bag. Every time something bothered her, she came to hit him. Pumpkin took it pretty well at first, but then she broke his leg and the pain became too much. He stopped counting the hits, just falling into some sort of numb state, completely dissociating every time she showed up.

What hurt the most was that his brother was just standing there the first few times, doing nothing despite Pumpkin crying for his help. And then he stopped to come completely, giving up on him. Pumpkin suffered five long years in this horrible cell, completely isolated from the world, unable to talk to anyone, and finally unable to talk at all as Alphys broke his inferior jaw in one fit of rage. Pumpkin thought it was over for him, as the pain was so intense he kept passing out, but also because he couldn't even eat or drink in his state.

As he gave up completely, the door opened a few days later on his brother, suddenly acting like he was saved. But Pumpkin didn't want his help. In fact, he didn't want anything to do with him, completely traumatized and broken. He even refused to leave his cell, scared of what was waiting for him outside. Asgore is the only one who managed to gain his trust, horrified by what happened to him. Very patient, the old man stayed with him in his cell for weeks, simply helping him to feed and healing him, until he convinced Pumpkin to leave the Underground, as the Barrier broke almost two months ago already.

As Pumpkin decided to see his brother again, he accidentally learned from other monsters that Nugget waited almost a week after the Barrier broke and Alphys was killed to actually come to see if he was still alive. Pumpkin is angry, and heartbroken, not understanding why. He tried to talk to his brother, numerous times, but Nugget never apologized for his actions, and Pumpkin never forgave him. Unfortunately, he's also very empathetic and couldn't stay mad eternally. But it seems the brothers don't get along anymore. Nugget is still stuck in the past, while Pumpkin is desperate to move forward, despite the scars that will never fully heal. He can't talk anymore, he's limping because his legs couldn't be fixed properly and his list of traumas and panic triggers is as high as Mount Ebott. But he can only improve from there so he stays optimistic!

So in my HC, Khun was the one carrying them. Because when they decided they want kids, they were still at war. Khun couldn't risk Bam, who was always in the frontline, to carry their children so he offered to do it.

They couldn't wait to settle down first, if wars were constantly happening.

Of course they had discussed it, about the risk of having babies and how could they raise them in the middle of war.

Well they could settle tho, finally. The situation had become more peaceful, and they could raise their kids, also, in peace.

And about the pregnancy, I don't like to think too much about it so let's just say the workshop had something to do with it.

She's the older twin. From outside she looked a lot like Aguero (but with brown hair), but her personality resembles Bam. She's brave, honest (too honest), and stubborn. She's also fiercely protective of her sister.

Her intial position is wave controller. She also learns martial arts from Bam (they often spar), and inherited spearbearer skills from Aguero (being a Khun herself).

She's kind, but her tongue sometimes is too sharp with words.

Bonus funfact: Vi is a KhunBam slanderer, she would gag when she saw her parents being lovey dovey all the time (but she secretly always wish for their happiness)

About Arlene

She's the witty one between the two, the one who can keep up with her dad (Aguero). She smiles a lot and people often said that she looked a lot like Bam, but don't get fooled by those innocent smiles.

She's still a Khun. Arlene will use those puppy eyes to manipulate everyone into her favour. Aguero was her first victim (and she never fails to manipulate him since she was a toddler).

Meanwhile Bam is, surprisingly, immune to those big golden eyes (maybe because he also has big golden eyes).

Arlene's position is lightbearer, but it's not because she can't fight. She just doesn't like using physical power, it's more like Vi's job.

No I'm sorry, but same for me too. The fact is that we're stuck as a two-party system until we get a voting overhaul, because "majority wins" means that the person the most people can agree upon will take ALL of the votes regardless of anyone else's votes.

As much as I despise the current candidates, the fact is that Trump has a guaranteed 30% of the vote. If any of the non-Trump candidates dip below 30%, he wins. You've seen what he's like; do you really think we'll have the opportunity to have another fair election after this?

We all have better candidates than Biden in mind, but he's the figurehead of the anti-Trump movement by virtue of "20-25% of people always vote for the incumbent, and every other non-Republican is voting for Biden to stop Trump". If you think you can honestly get 40% of people to agree on a single third-party candidate and beat out both Trump AND Biden then I'm all ears, but let's be honest, it's just not happening this close to the election.

However, this is NOT the way it always has to be. We - the people who hate this situation as much or more than you do - are working on getting Ranked Choice voting on our state ballots so we can get out of this shit system and actually succeed in getting a third-party candidate in office. You should join us in doing that so we can actually make it happen!

Just watched Elegy, great episode..the conversation at the end is brilliant in its restraint as always but I can't help but be a little angry at mulder here, not just in his hypocrisy (he's literally lying about the ova in that moment) but I can't help but think of Paper Hearts and how very present she was there for him and yet here, she is in her car crying alone, has to be one of the most upsetting moments for me so far..obviously scullys isolation is more her fault than anyone's but she deserved a kinder response here..sorry for the rant lol

what is the kind response in this situation? maybe calling her out is a type of kindness too, even if it's hypocritical. my default position when Mulder isn't as attentive to Scully as he could be is that it's a sign of respect for her. it's misguided, but he means well. he wants to let her have her pride. what I love about the Mulder and Scully story in Elegy (I'm ignoring the case) is that they're both still clinging to their usual coping mechanisms — Scully to her stubborn independence and Mulder to not prying — but they're breaking down. Scully is putting herself (and Mulder) at risk by not telling him what she saw, and Mulder is leaving her to fall apart on her own because he can't figure out when she needs him. obviously I hope he's at her door to apologize five minutes after she gets home. but I think being honest with her is a sign of respect too, because he's admitting that dancing around the issues isn't working. it rules that their big conversation about how they need to have an honest conversation is so restrained that they're still sort of dancing around it, and the fact that Mulder can't even admit what he's actively hiding from her is rich, but the feelings are raw enough to get the point across. they're both so scared. nothing else matters to him. he needs her to know that she shouldn't just tell him what she thinks he wants to hear, and ultimately I think Scully gets more out of hearing that than she would out of some blanket display of sympathy. but again I hope he's making her tea by the end of the night.

I'm southern European too, raised by a very Catholic mother and EXTREMELY Catholic grandma, who was a nun once, I think your mom just has something deeply deeply wrong with her because my mom always told me these things are normal, that it's okay that I like girls and boys bc jesus said to us to love everyone, idk what my grandma thinks abt sex bc I never talked to her abt any of that but at some point she was like mehmehmeh gay people and I was like. 💅Unpopular Barbie movie opinion: I have quite a lot to be honest but I will go on and say The Barbie movie 2023 was absolutely disrespectful of Barbie movies fans. It's the kind of movie that could have been done with any doll brand and chose to completely ignore Barbie and Ken's character, making their Ken an insult to the Ken we've seen on screen during our whole childhood. The real Ken is a kind-hearted person, who lives to be with Barbie yes, but who also has his own personality and dreams and who is happy to be a trophy-husband. The writers of this movie definitly never watched a Barbie movie or Barbie Life in the Dreamhouse. Also the fans of this movie become crazy when I say this point. Their favourite argument is "But Ken isn't real, don't talk about him as if he was alive or your lover" just because I said "Ryan Gosling's Ken isn't the Ken I know and love". I mean, this movie was the biggest disappointment I had in 2023. Also Princess and the Pauper is overrated (doesn't mean it's bad either don't worry it's amazing) and I don't get why it's considered the best Barbie movie. Top 5 or top 3? Easily but the best and if you disagree you're wrong or refusing to see the truth? Nah sorry.

💖 I'm gonna give three. My favourite character of all times, my favourite character played by Barbie and my favourite male character. If you've been following me for a long time you probably already know these three characters. Let's start with my guy:

Dominick is basically the reason why i always have too high standards. He's the guy who just wanted to find a girl who'd love him for his personality rather than his position and who was ready to do everything he could for it to happen. He's the guy who felt in love with a girl and when he realized she wasn't the person he thought she was, still took the time to discover by himself if she was that girl he had felt in love with. When he realized it, he proposed and when she refused because she wanted to go live her dream, he let her go without hesitation and was ready to wait his whole life for her to return without any certitude that she'd come back. All of this because her happiness was more important for him than his own. This is pure love and that's why I love him so much.

My favourite Barbie character is also an easy bet:

Corinne is the person I'd like to be. The nice girl who always tries her best and who's got enough self-esteem to never let anyone tell her what she can and can't do. She's a badass, she's funny, she's iconic and she's sweet. She is an amazing person but she's also really human because she has flaws. She's stubborn and goes into adventure and danger without thinking twice, never having a plan B, she's terribly clumsy sometimes and that makes her a full character because we can see how these flaws impact her in the movie.

And no surprise again, my favourite Barbie character has always been and will always be:

Alexa from Barbie and the Diamond Castle. She's the character i always related to the most. She's a good person who wants to do what's good but she's also realistic and doesn't want to die or to put herself and the people she loves in danger. She follows her emotions, sometimes too much and it can cause her trouble but at the same time it's her biggest quality. She's a beautiful soul who is put in a situation where she can't be the hero because she cares too much about her life and we needed her in the movie. Liana's "I'm always doing the right thing and being the perfect protagonist" attitude would have made the movie insufferable if it hadn't been opposed to Alexa's "I know you want to do the right thing and I want to do it too but not if it means losing my life" attitude. Like they were necessary to each other but Alexa stands out because she's the more realistic one. She's scared to be left behind when she sees her bestfriend girlfriend starting to put another girl as her priority. Is it stupid jealousy? Yes but it's due to insecurity and a terribly precure situation where you have to remember her house got burned because of this other woman. A woman she also really cares about and like but can't help feeling jealous of. Alexa is that character who's so much more than what it seems and I love her with all my heart.

💔: Okay I know some people will find it strange considering Chelsea the lost birthday exists but it's Barbie Princess Power. The reason is easy: I never watched Chelsea the lost birthday and don't plan to. While I had to suffer the watch of Barbie Princess Power three times in my life because my youngest brother kinda liked it. I just find it so bland, annoying, badly colored and just overall uninteresting that I can't stand it. And yes I think there are other movies that are worse but at least I can watch them without being so annoyed and irritated by my watching. Like really I want to jump out of the window when I watch this horrifying piece of fluo colors. Don't worry I'm watching Barbie movies on the ground floor.

🔮: That's a hard one to be honest... But I would really like to see an adaptation of Snow White and Rose Red. Like this fairytale was one of those I was reading again and again in my childhood. I would love to see Barbie play Snow White and Barbie (Brooklyn) or Teresa play Rose Red. They don't have to be sisters but I'd like the story to follow the same path with the bear being a prince, Snow White falling in love with him and marrying him but at the same time I want to see Rose Red meet the prince's cousin, a girl, and progressively fall in love with her. I would like the dwarf being really mean and actually causing trouble and the girls seeing it, still try to help him because they are nice but then, realize not everyone deserves the kindness you give them. The bear/prince deserved it because in return he was nice, polite and a good person. The dwarf doesn't because he's mean, cruel and wouldn't have hesitated to kill the girls if it meant he would be safe. That would be a good call-back to the movies we've had in the 2000s but also include some themes we talk about more in today's world.

It didn’t help as much as she’d hoped, but she buried most of what was left of the music box to try and put that whole part of her life to rest, and because part of her felt like she owed her mother some kind of a grave, even if there hadn’t been anything left of her. Being as mourning the kidnapper is a bad look, Cassandra’s father covered for her absence by saying she’d been sick during the celebrations, and she still sticks with that lie when the event comes up.

🦉 Even after all of her training, Cassandra is still a pretty mediocre shot with ranged weapons outside of static targets, so she’d rather stick with what she knows she’s good at and force wherever she’s up against info 1:1 fights. Now she’s having to rely more on her fists than her blades, she’s started training regularly at Uppercut.

🦉She’s a fairly regular visitor to the rage cage too, though she prefers to keep it quiet— she’s making an active effort to keep her temper in check, and that’s much more easily accomplished if she can go let off steam once a month or so.

TW FOR GRIEF, DEATH, LOSING A PARENT, DYING.

A lot of times when people pass, people that knew them always say “I just wish I held onto them closer.” or “I wish I was nicer” “I wish I told them” this and that and a lot of wishes.

As someone that was quite the opposite with my loved one, my mother, I’m going to tell you the grief you feel does not change whether you held onto them tightly or not enough. Nothing can make this grief easier.

I held onto my mother’s hand and she held onto mine. She was my number one and she always told me I was hers. Unconditional love and support without a doubt. She defended me, she understood me to the core, she let me ramble, she let me get mad, she let me cry, she loved me through and through no matter what. Some people thought I was too close to her, but I’m so, so thankful I was unbelievably close to her. 

In December, we had a conversation after she was turned away from heart surgery. I made the mistake in googling heart failure and ended up in a few hours of spiraling anxiety over the fact I may lose my mom someday. We were open and honest with each other, so I went into her room and cried to her about this.

She held me as tight as she could, her arms shook and she told me “Well.. if I only have 5 years left, let these be the best 5 years we can have together”. 

I asked her how she felt about the possibility of dying from heart failure. She told me that grandma always said “when it’s your time, it’s your time” in the most calm voice. I think she knew how rough her situation was. My mother tried so hard to fight and to live every day, but heart failure didn’t just take a toll on her heart, but her lungs, muscles, eyes, diabetes, kidneys and so much more combined into the factor. 

I know it’s because I’m young and very stubborn, but I told her I’d be her coach and a cheerleader for her recovery. I would annoy her daily about her appointments, calling people for things, when her appointments are, when I’d need to take work off, picking up her meds, etc etc. I knew I had the strength she needed to keep going.

But like my grandmother said, when it is your time, it is your time. My mother was tired and in pain. It was very hard for her to breath and just walk around even just in the house. 

I’d make her lift little 3 pound weights or drive her to the store so she can walk around. 

One her last day, I took her out for lunch at Vibrant Coffeehouse because I recently went there and enjoyed it a lot. I thought she’d like it too and I wanted to treat her on my payday. 

I took a picture of her, like I always do. And we joked about how pale she is now. She couldn’t believe how “haole” she was looking (in her words). We even joked that she looked dead. 

Unfortunately 10 hours later, she would be. In front of me. In our home after I spent what felt like hours but was really minutes performing CPR on her just 5 minutes after her, her friends and my father went out to El Maya to hangout. She was gone.

I always knew deep down this was the possibility, but you never want it to come true. I tried to pull away from her the past 2 months, stay busy with myself, my music, my business, my internship, making sure she was on top of things but also allowing her to just be and just rest. I tried learning to cook some meals, I paid attention to her paying bills, researching ways to help her get better and more. I tried to just be with myself. I failed at that. I spent many nights in her room, just being there. I spent many mornings, annoying her with my hugs or a cat. Or both. I know it didn’t bother her and I also didn’t care if I was annoying with my love for her either. I always have been.

While I know I am not alone. Losing the closest person to me is the loneliest thing in the entire world and I’m scared. I’m scared of what happens next. I’m scared about my own father’s future now. I’m scared for the security in others. I am scared.

What a horrible life lesson it is to lose someone, but at the same time, it’s only horrible on my end. She left this world fast, happy and with her loved ones. For the best.

Oh boy you two have been through a lot. From the loss of family to being forced to grow up from a young age in order to survive. Because of that shared trauma it makes it easier for you to get close to someone as prickly as Levi cause he sees a bit of himself in you.

ABILITIES

Grace is a telepath who can either read minds or communicate with people through thoughts she sends in their heads. Her surhuman ability, closely linked to thoughts and emotions, makes her empathy extremely developed.

Her aura is naturally reassuring and Grace sometimes uses her powers to apease her relative's negative emotions.

In addition to her telepathy, Grace can also fight well as she's been practicing judo since she's a teenager.

- PERSONALITY

Maybe because of her psychic capacities, Grace is someone highly empathic. She's sensitive to both her friends and unknown people's feelings and feels sad or guilty every time she senses negative emotions. Whatever happens, she always tries to apease these with her telepathy.

Grace wouldn't forgive herself if she accidentally offended or hurt someone : she's trying to be soft and understanding with everyone. She's overall very attentive to what people say and think and is always ready to sacrifice her own time and mental health to help and relieve them. She thinks everybody has something good in them and would never sentence someone without trying to understand the way they function or their viewpoint.

Despite being a valuable quality in many situations, Grace's empathy sometimes could and is lived as an intrusion. She tends to be quite nosy when it comes to her relatives' thoughts, wants to know everything about their lives and checks on how they feel way too much.

She's actually curious in general, not only when it's about other people; she likes to learn about everything and collect informations on various topics.

With Arthur and Aloïs, she's one of the most "mature" members of the 7th Division. Even if her powers have exhausting consequences on her, she remains a stable and reliable person. She has a calm temper and learnt to care for others before herself. Now she controls her telepathy entirely, it helps her overcome her moods, which makes a good diplomat out of her.

She sometimes considers her friends as kids she has to parent and take care of. Grace is very analytical when it comes to people's problems and acts like a therapist for the group, even if this role is tiring and isn't accepted by everyone (Aloïs for example, is hesitant about letting his emotions out).

Despite her calm and serene personality, Grace has fears of her own. Because she's nosy and very engaged in her acquaintances' lives, she sometimes feels stressed or panics when she's not informed about a feeling or important event. Secrets scare her and give her the sensation of being excluded or not being enough. It makes her an honest person as she will always tell the truth (with tact but sincerity).

Her power being difficult to control and a huge part of her daily life, she tends to overuse it : she's therefore often tired and victim of migraines. Moreover, she has the reflex to absorb all the negative feelings around her and it can make her very depressed. She could be qualified as hypersensitive.

However, she's not weak and can be as stubborn as her friends, which sometimes causes her to disobey or question Aloïs' decisions. She also is an activist actively fighting the racism, sexism and homophobia she lives daily; as a school principal, she transmits the kids her strong values.

- BACKSTORY

Grace was born in a very Christian family and is the second sibling of 3. Her power declared when she was 5, taking the form of thoughts she could hear as whispers in her head. She didn't understand what it was and since none of her relatives had unusual abilities, nobody was able to explain what was happening.

The voices slowly drove her crazy as they were permanent and sometimes transmitted negative messages, depending on what people thought. She was a sensitive, stressed and depressed kid who was diagnosed very early with schizophrenia because of what everyone mistook for hallucinations.

Grace was hospitalized aged 10 and given meds that didn't help her much. Back then, she was living her life like a zombie and struggling with everything. She still managed to attend online classes and avoid school failure.

As a teen, she started questioning her sexuality but was quickly discouraged by her conservative parents. She distanced from them a bit and closed in herself because she feared the homophobic whispers she was hearing were people insulting her (which was kind of true because they were actual thoughts of people passing nearby). Grace had almost no friends all her life until her meeting with Samira.

Aged 20, she was clinically depressed and had even tried to kill herself once. The only way she had found to shut the voices down was to get completely wasted and so she went to a lot of student social events to drink a lot. There, she met a girl her age who didn't fit a lot because her religion forbade her to drink but people were still pressuring her to do so.

Grace felt Samira's distress, came for a chat, made her a lot of alcohol-free cocktails and befriended her. The two of them became very close and it helped Grace dealing with her depression. They finally fell in love after years of friendship and started dating.

Grace introduced Sam to her parents whose reaction was a disappointment : they rejected her for being a Muslim lesbian and didn't allow her at home. Grace definetly cut contact with them and her big brother Adam who took their side. She moved out and settled down with her girlfriend.

5 years before the story, after an argument and a break up with Samira, Grace felt suicidal again and tried to jump off a bridge. She was stopped just before by Aloïs and they had a long conversation in which he explained and convinced her the voices were actually telepathic powers. From then on she learnt how to master it, became friends with Aloïs, joined the Division and finally got better.

She married Samira two years later but their relationship was not doing great back then. Because of Grace's double life as a superheroine, Samira thought she was cheating on her and they were arguing everyday. She finally was forced to reveal her secret identity and the situation fell into place. They're still married in the main timeline and are planning on adopting a child.

- PRIVATE LIFE

Grace stopped talking to her parents and her big brother Adam. However, she still loves her little sister Alyssa and they're in a long distance relationship. She's married to Samira and is close to her family, especially her father and her nephew Tamim.

She works as a school principal and rents a little appartment downtown with her wife.

SAMIRA

Samira has been Grace's wife for 3 years : they're very close and know each other by heart. They live together and are planning on founding a family, but can't adopt for the moment because they're having it hard as racialized lesbians.

The year before the story, their relationship was not doing great because Grace was never home and couldn't tell she actually had a secret identity. It lead Samira to think Grace was cheating on her and they came close to divorce.

When Grace revealed she had superpowers, Samira distanced herself because she was afraid of her telepathy and doubted Grace a bit, thinking she could have manipulated her the whole time.

Now their marriage is better : Grace swore she would never lie to Samira again and Samira accepted her wife's secret identity and even met the other members of the Division.

They're a stable and loving couple.

ADAM AND ALYSSA

Grace stopped talking to her big brother Adam after he said their parents ''had the right to disagree'' with her sexuality. He apologized a few times but she can't forgive him for the moment and refuses any interaction until she feels ready. Adam respects her decision and they don't see each other anymore even though they used to be very close as children. Their relationship will get better through the story.

Alyssa is Grace's little sister and the apple of her eyes. Contrary to Adam, she talks to her every day through online messages because Alyssa married and is starting a family out of town.

Grace would protect her at any cost and will even fight against Alyssa's husband then fly with her to Canada to get an abortion after they find out he's involved in drug trafficking.

ERWAN

Grace (as well as her wife Samira) almost sees Erwan as a son. She's the one to help when he's feeling anxious at the beginning of the story, then she takes him home to protect him after he's tortured by the mafia during Lilyas' arc. She sees in Erwan a great heroic potential and can't help tellingit even when it annoys him. She's always here to apease his fears and anger issues.

ALOÏS

The two of them met when Grace was about to jump off a bridge to kill herself because of the voices. Aloïs forced her to have a conversation and helped her understanding she had telepathic powers.

From then on, they became friends despite of Aloïs' distance and Grace joined the Division a few months later.

Grace's empathy and kindness make them quite the opposite emotionally but they still have agreeable conversations. Grace has perfectly understood Aloïs is not a talkative person and struggles with social interactions : she doesn't force him to communicate and does her best to respect his space and intimacy.

However, Grace is frustrated because Aloïs is the most reserved person of the team and she can't always perceive his emotions. His mental barriers are strong and it stresses Grace who can't help or apease him much. Though, she's always ready to advise him when it comes to communication and social interactions.

Grace likes Aloïs' honesty, loyalty and composed personality. She's grateful for the hand he gave her 5 years ago and his caring attitude towards her mental health.
