I know a lot of us are thinking about how in the Mario Movie, Luigi’s aversion to pets may be leading up to Polterpup (who I definitely hope appears some time in the future.)
But consider this: Luigi is the first one to stumble upon the newly-hatched Yoshi in the sewers of Brooklyn. The baby apex predator immediately imprints on him as his mother, and... well... it’s a baby. Luigi can’t just leave him there! Shenanigans ensue.

I’m writing this while walking to work so forgive me if it’s not entirely coherent. I think it might benefit some people to have a reminder that books and show/movie adaptations are different. Reading the book might mean you know the framework for the show/movie but it does not make you An Expert on the show/movie.
First and foremost, I’m not going to say don’t post spoilers, but I will so do not go onto someone else’s post and post spoilers. You would not like it if someone came into your house and spoiled things for you. Do not do that to others. It is not only incredibly rude. It is entirely selfish. Which brings me to my next point.
If reading the book enhances your experience, if it’s something you enjoy, I’m glad! I am so incredibly happy for you. It does not make you smarter or inherently more informed than the people that choose not to read for whatever reason.
You might know what happens and have more knowledge about the story as a whole but that does not mean that people that are posting predictions or speculations don’t know what they’re talking about. I know a lot of people that watch these shows have some sort of degree in writing or literature or visual media. Gonna use myself as an example here, I have a degree in writing. I am decent at analysis. I mostly post silly little shitposts or memes but all of my posts are operating from a place of being informed.
I am capable of predicting what’s gonna happen. I am aware of narrative structures. I’m aware of plot devices. I’m aware of the common tropes in the shows I watch. And that doesn’t matter! Because that is entirely Not The Point. I don’t care if I predict accurately. It’s not about the what happens. It’s always about how we get there.
Of all of the shows that are airing and I can pretty much tell you what the ending of each of them is going to be. Even without reading the novels. That does not make them any less enjoyable for me. It makes them even more enjoyable. Cause now I get to watch for the details. I get to watch and see how this show has decided to show the journey of the story. And sometimes how they completely rewrite expectations. Some of the things I have watched have been very, extremely good at subverting tropes and expectations. Things can veer off in directions you don’t expect even if you’ve read the novel. Simply because it’s a different story. It is imposssible to do a 1 to 1 adaptation. As much as we might want it. It is simply not possible.
I have read a few novels that the shows are based on. Every single show has made drastic changes to the source material. So while you might have knowledge of what’s to come in the novel. You might have the ability to spoil everyone for what’s coming, even you can’t be 100% sure until it happens. And condescendingly telling people it’s so obvious when you have future knowledge is incredibly unacceptable.
This has gotten very long and I am actually at work now and should probably actually do my job but I just need to reiterate. Reading the novels is fine! It’s fun! I am genuinely so happy people are reading and enjoying themselves and also enjoying the shows! That is wonderful! But do not ruin or attempt to ruin someone else’s enjoyment simply because you think you know more. Make posts about the differences on your own blog. Talk about spoilers with friends that have also read the novel. But do not go onto a stranger’s post and post spoilers because you might be ruining the media you love for that person without even realizing what you’re doing.

I know the quote “We don’t hurt little girls in Dorne” “Everywhere in the world they hurt little girls.” Is said so that it can be mirrored by Ellaria killing Myrcella but I think it definitely gives this interesting insight into oberyn’s character and his sort of. self-righteous ignorance to the reality of the world.
Like we know oberyn is incredibly intelligent. But he’s also still a man, and a prince no less. So he comes from this place of privilege and confidence (since he sees dorne as superior to everywhere else in westeros) that he can say with confidence that children are not harmed in dorne when Cersei, albiet a cruel character but still a woman and a mother in her own right has to tell him that no, children, especially little girls are hurt and preyed upon every corner in the world because that’s just how the world is.
And yes Dorne is leagues ahead of other places in talk of equality. Given that women can be warriors, rule the country, and (if i remember correctly) take their husbands to court for domestic violence charges. But to say that there is no pain or suffering there that young women face is incredibly ignorant and shows that his perspective is one that comes from a very different world than the ones that women must live in.
I think it’s the same reason that Oberyn has never married. He gets the choice to push off marriage and travel the world with his lover, meanwhile a woman at his age would be well into her marriage with multiple children. Cersei for example, at the same age and social status is being forced to marry a second time, despite her power as the queen regent she cannot stop the process, even when she begs her father with tears in her eyes because she knows the reality of marriage for a woman, even at her status, is one that is quiet dark because her role as a wife isn’t one with much power or safety.

My only real "gripe" about bg3 is that enemies can hit downed characters?
Which, to my knowledge, really is not cool in the actual rules

having a "former gifted kid" type mental spiral
#i say this because the spiral is actually about how much i hate the word and the general culture around giftedness#mostly because its incredibly inconsistent between schools so people often mean different things when they say it#but also because in my specific case its certainly not a gift but like. what am i supposed to call it.#its literally a neurodivergence in my case that has had many effect postive and negative on my life. but its also a school club.#and its also nothing! before the advent of like modern standardized public education i wouldve just been a curious kid#Without modern public education im not sure i wouldve even been different from other kids. maybe a little socially awkward still but idk#and like. Am i really different from other kids? am I now as an adult different from my peers? Occasionally i will get told as such#how the fuck am i suppose to talk about how much being seperated from my peers and held to higher standards sucked#when the name of the reason why this happened might as well be 'gods specialist little boy'#none of the things that make people think im smarter are really all that useful day to day. and most non-gifted people are like. still smar#i happen to be good at memorizing the kind of facts schools test you on as children#but is that just because i was told as a kid to be good at school and so i tried hard to do that?#even if I am uniquely good at that#does that really make me more intelligent than the high school dropouts who can fix cars like its nothing?#in fact i would say they are at least wiser than me for picking something practical to be smart at#at my school being gifted usually implied you were a little neurodivergent and bad at socializing#often our gifted kids were actually failing classes because they were smart enough to realize they didnt matter#(not me but still)#but at some schools being gifted just means you were an avid reader or were pressured by your parents to maintain perfect As at all times#so if i say. wanted to talk about how being 'gifted' has often made some aspects of academia like hating emails and having time blindness#and not having a good friend network and having many unadressed issues around not really knowing how to make friends#if i wanted to talk about that. and i say 'I was gifted growing up and this sucked'#the person on the other end might hear 'oh woe is me im so smart and this makes my life so hard'#AND FURTHER STILL#on tumblr especially 'former gifted kid' has kindve become parlance for 'guy whining about nothing'#or even 'person who they were told was smart but is actually kinda dumb'#which... yeah! theres a reason many former gifted kids are like that! thats kindve my issue with the program in the first place!#it takes otherwise relatively normal if well achieving kids and tells them they are gods specialist little children.#THIS CANNOT BE HELPFUL TO ANYONE? like whatever chance the kids had at seeming normal has been stripped away#and they now also think they are the smartest person in the room in every situation

This goes incredibly hard holy shit.
But as a person with weaponized Autism, it's also incredibly accurate.
had a dream last night where I took a uquiz called “what do you serve?” and at first the questions were standard but as the quiz progressed they became more and more highly specific to me personally and the answers became more and more similar and I realised the quiz Knew me and was forcing me into being honest by giving me no other option so I tried to click out but it just went to the next question which was “are you the spider? or are you the web?” and it had an option for each but I didn’t click either so it then turned to a text box and I typed “I think I’m the fly” and the quiz paused for a while and then took me to a results page that said “you serve truth” and the description just read “what you know will kill you but you will die laughing” so like. good morning everyone I guess :/

woahhh sklonda got very upset for riz and it’s just making me overthink every interaction where a npc gets angry as having to do with the plot… (someone pointed out the scene with the mole person sniffing the dirt and his reaction to riz questioning him might have been bc of remnants of rage in the soil) like. the moments are valid and i understand why each character would be upset but it’s always a notch more intense than expected? like, i feel like everyone at the table was a bit shocked when sklonda said riz would be a better school president than kristen (im more than certain brennan was planning for riz to enter the race, so now he’s using the change to his advantage) it feels like a LOT of tension is building

My master list of motif to ⭐️ve…
For a skinny girl autumn and winter/sweater weather and spooky season vibes
To be unrecognizable and make everyone jealous of how pretty I get
To get skinny for my tattoos
To be intelligent and beautiful
No acne! (aka my biggest insecurity)
To have a sex drive/feel good during sex
To attract more attention from people/my partner/crushes
Honestly, getting drunk and high is so much more fun when you’re starving and skinny lol
To have an incredible sense of style and actually be able to wear cool outfits
To romanticize my life more
To give me a reason for existing and looking drop dead gorgeous while doing it
To beat my goal weight before I was forced into treatment; get into the mindset again
To chase the euphoria that starving and being skinny brings/the number on the scale droppjng brings
To shock everyone with how beautiful I get
Sharp cheekbones and jawline/thigh gap/slim arms/prominent and protruding collarbone/skinny fingers/thin and hour glass figure
To wear rings and nice jewelry that compliment my skinny body
I have the potential! I refuse to waste it this time
I want to look attractive for my travels across the globe this year. Meeting lifetime friends and partying in Europe will be so much more fun when skinny!
I feel so much more clean and motivated when I’m starving! I clean my space more, self care more, look better in general and do everything I need to get done!! I need this back

If you see articles and tweets about how the Star of David is now a symbol of fascism and think to yourself "maybe they have a point," then whatever you define as your antizionism has absolutely crossed the line into antisemitism
The Star of David is one of the most important symbols in Judaism. The fact that it is on the flag of Israel does not make it fascist. The government of Israel is separate from the symbol. Labeling such a widely used symbol by a marginalized people as fascist is incredibly dangerous and seeks to conflate Jews as a whole with the Israeli government- something antizionists continually claim people shouldn't do. So why are some doing it?
High control groups slowly ease you into believing nonsensical things. They provide "reasoning" and "logic" which goes largely unchallenged within echo chambers. People in these echo chambers are prone to believing it because they start to see it as real logic instead of bigoted, twisted reasoning. Even otherwise intelligent people can fall for their prejudices as they begin to view it as a form of justice
It is a fantasy that high control group leaders go from 0 to 100 in five minutes or refuse to answer any questions- they are usually much more manipulative
Please confront your biases. The Jews are tired
