what's weird about the fantasy high drama is that like. it seems to me like people forget d&d is primarily a) a game you play with your friends and also b) luck based.
I mean it's fine to say that "nothing felt like a challenge" and "they just dominated everything and there weren't any stakes" but like. it's not as if they weren't up against huge threats. they lost the mall fight. the last stand was an onslaught of enemies. they fought a dozen dragons from an airship. the fights were hard. they're just really good. they've had very good dice luck in general this season and are all very high level and highly specialized. fig is gonna beat deception and performance checks. adaine's gonna figure out the arcana. riz is gonna succeed investigations. like. for some reason their strategical competence and wisely picked abilities are. a downside? a disappointment?
the thing about d&d that you need to remember is it's first and foremost a game. it's mostly random and it takes you down weird paths and you're playing to have fun with your friends. the dice are literally telling the story that it's their time, it's their year. they've struggled enough. they've trained enough. they're good at what they do. and in my post about the academic/domestic/personal stressors being the focus, d&d doesn't have any other system to work them out than rolling different skills. that's what d&d is. brennan set specific challenge levels for different tasks and the players strategized to prioritize which abilities they were strongest in. the challenges were there. and the players rose to them. they were both smart in their delegation of responsibilities and lucky with their dice rolls. of which, both are foundations of d&d.
don't mistake them being good players and getting lucky with there being no hardship. just because they smashed through the wall, that doesn't mean the wall wasn't strong. they were just stronger.
#i know some people are disappointed from a storytelling perspective. but you have to understand.#what was brennan supposed to do. he threw things at them both at and above their challenge level#he created a whole system to simulate academic and person goals and stress throughout the year#he gave them plenty of chances to fail#he set DCs high.#the players just knocked it out of the park#you can't tell any story but the ones the dice want you to#if he had manufactured more danger or difficulty where there was none it would have felt cheap#and do you not remember the night yorb fight#like. the whole point of the year was that it wasn't hard. it just never stopped#they can do it they're capable they're smart. but the hustle and the stress and the fighting and the working never ends#that's why nothing 'had stakes' or 'felt challenging'#it's the slog that gets you. it's how long you're willing to keep going.#how much life can break you almost to your last breath but you get through it and you keep going anyway#but. i digress.#and i say all this with complete and total respect to other people's opinions#i feel no hate and wish no bad feelings on anyone who disagrees with this!#it's just my personal view on the whole thing#sorry if im being annoying i just have. opinions.#fantasy high#d20#dimension 20#fhjy

#slay the princess#quiet is absolutely a corvid in draconic packaging#but theres traits of him that cannot be detached from his construction to aid humanity#his hands and arms in particular. and his uncomfortably human teeth but mostly his hands and arms#bc his hands are very birdlike yes but the general anatomy is completely detached from anything that could be described#as avian or draconic#whereas the narrators almost completely played straight as a crow but with teeth#and its so specific and maybe im reading too much into it#but his teeth are extremely NOT human-like#the narrator is extremely not human even though he once was#did he give his humanity up in creation of the long quiet and the shifting mound?#in his last moments before he became countless echos did he put all of the humanity he had and give it to them#in order to make the long quiet understanding of the concept of mortality in an attempt to sway him on slaying the princess#and in order to make the princess capable of death just as humans are?#was it his own plot to save humanity through the creation of gods that he stripped himself of his own humanity and handed it to said gods#making them resemble living mortal humans far more than he ever could after he gave it to them?#was the gift of humanity that he gave the concept of reality in two distinct ways the exact reason why his plan failed?#why his giving of that gift came back to destroy the construct he created?#that in deciding it to be his duty to act effectively as a mortal god he gave up his own humanity#and made two gods that were more human than him?#anyway narrators got sharp teeth and is a bird except humanity is mentioned. so this man became a bird. metaphorically. after playing god#sorry you tried to destroy death and your creation and you too became symbols of it!#its only symbolically satisfying and fitting i hope you understand

Gold star kid. #ttte edward#🌙 is talking#how many times does a series open w/a protag that’s looked down upon bc they’re older? washed?#and how often is that ‘old’ character portrayed as pitiful yet sprightly at the chance to go out?#he is and has been willing to let himself come apart before he fails to complete a job#although he means well in giving opportunities- that doesn’t pan out well for the recipient (ex. lending his train)#he continuously shows compassion to others but he’s not unaffected by apathy/unsympathetic responses#(esp pointing to the big engines)#he gets HURT. he gets UPSET. he cares about them but he also cares abt how they feel abt him- he doesn’t see himself ‘above’ them#he LOVESSS socializing and greeting friends and hearing abt the latest gossip or buzz or whatever#he’s cheeky! he loves humoring others when they’re being silly#and it’s not necessarily in the way where he knows so much more than you— a lot of the time it’s usually karmic#hes sooo . ugh. most interestingly written old character ever#there’s… so SO much more that i wanna say but that could be like 23+ posts on their own

There was a magazine interview where they had Ai answer a couple of questions, and well, she didn't say no when asked if she had someone she wanted to marry. Seeing how she pictured a cute and loving family with Hikaru... I believe they really could have gotten married if things weren't this messed up.

Is the renkaza a crackship?
nope! on ao3, they're the third biggest kny ship and the biggest kyojuro ship, actually--not that popularity automatically means a ship can't be crack? hm.
the definition of crackship is debateable lol but to me they're not cracky 'cuz the things akaza was saying during their mugen train fight and akaza's human backstory provide a lot of give in terms of connection points to kyojuro.
they're a ship for all the people who love enemies/rivals-to-lovers plots, and ships that involve a lot of physical fighting and/or searching for humanity, which are some of my fave things to look for haha. they can also just be deeply convoluted and toxic when romantically involved, which is its own brand of fun! (tho i personally tend to look for stuff that ends more wholesomely. angst with a happy ending my beloved. 💞)
i will say that while they're not a crackship, the au's where akaza just fucks off completely (like my au comic haha) or where kyo goes all-in on being a demon right away can come off cracky, but i think that's less "crackship" and more "crack taken seriously".

after attempting to commission art of boba fett without his helmet, i am forced to consider that a good number of artists, subconsciously or not, cannot accept that temuera morrison has always been hot despite his lack of european features, and honestly this explains a lot about the fucking travesty that is every single clone's face in TCW and TBB

So how many times do you think Victim tried to commit suicide after Mitsi's death, but never actually got very far because of the fear of potentially waking up back on the PC?
And how many times do you think he was so far beyond caring that he actually did try?
And how many times do you think Agent found him before it was too late?
IMO, all three are a non-zero number.
#I think he probably wanted to “join” her at least once in those first few months and didn't see the point in continuing to live without her.#I also think that Victim probably self-harmed at least a few times because he didn't know how to cope with his emotional pain#I feel like after the attack Agent dedicated himself to Victim to an unhealthy degree in an attempt to make up for failing her#And I think that during that time Agent developed a sense for when things just felt “wrong” with Victim#Like a sudden gut feeling that something wasn't right and that he needed to go check Vic RIGHT NOW#and 9 times out of 10 something would be wrong with Vic.#Either he'd be in the midst of a horrible grief-stricken breakdown; injured from SH; catatonic to the point of not eating/drinking#or actually in danger of dying from an attempt.#Victim would have just been an utter MESS in the first few months afterwards. Completely unable to function.#The only reason Agent can function is because Victim needs him and he cannot bear the idea of letting him down.#Agent probably also helped run Rocket corp in those first few months too because Victim wasn't in any state to do it alone#and might not have even known what he was doing because acting as CEO was probably more Mitsi's job than his.#Vic seemed to be more like a designer and builder of their tech than the business side in the flashback photos.#TL;DR: Agent has been Victim's sole pillar of support ever since Mitsi's death and I think Agent would literally rather die than fail him.#He will support Victim even to his own detriment#Because Agent cannot let go of his own overwhelming guilt and grief for Mitsi any more than Victim can.#Her loss is a shackled wrapped around their necks that will never let go; nor will they ever let it let them go.#Alan Becker#Animator vs animation#ava#ava Victim#ava Agent#tw: suicide mention#tw: self harm mention#Mitsi's death fucked both Victim and Agent up so bad and you cannot tell me otherwise
