the stuff with ralsei wouldn't be the first time toby utilizes sexuality as a reinforcement of narrative, the weird route heavily makes use of heteronormativity and wedding imagery (noelle's white dress, the freeze ring) with kris and noelle (two very queer characters) which furthers the feeling of something being deeply wrong

YEP! that was precisely my point in the first post i made about this. there seems to be a recurring motif in deltarune where uncomfortable romance is forced on kris to represent their lack of agency. their lack of agency towards the player is represented by snowgrave, while their lack of agency towards fate might be represented by ralsei. the wedding imagery with noelle was particularly brilliant in setting this up, all the while firmly establishing her own separate feelings for another character for contrast, someone that actually helps her grow and heal.

Black Ops 6. I think I’ve seen tossed about is if the old crew is getting revived or mentioned or will be somehow relevant to the plot. 

Do I think they will bring the original crew back? Not really. Like a 25% yes, 75% no. The nostalgia bait would be Huge. A ton of people would come back, even if they’re just operator skins, I just know it. And considering corporate greed, I can’t realistically say they’re above baiting that nostalgia.

Thematically? There would be a lot going on about it thematically speaking.

A good question, and perhaps the biggest, would be “how”? Getting the audience on board with their revival is critical to the reception of them. If it’s an asspull, people will be pissy. If it makes sense, people will still be pissy because they’re cod fanboys but would not be as obnoxious about it. The only really good answer would be through the dark aether. Maybe Takeo and Dempsey’s souls could have endured the destruction of everything since they were technically in the summoning key when that happened (even though it broke in the process, and I’m not sure how one could finagle getting Nikolai back in that case). Maybe it’s some alternative version of them that was alive when the multiverse collapsed and were consumed and banished like Victis. Maybe they’ll tie in the fucking Cod Mobile lore happening over there. Maybe there’s like some kind of freaky Homestuck-esque Ultimate Self shenanigans going on there. An ego without the persona. A mind above partition. They were sort of leaning into that in Alpha Omega, so it’s not a complete stretch. But whatever.

Maybe Richtofen missed them. Their souls were bonded, afterall. With them gone, does he feel exposed? Alone? Where he, in the most intimate way, pressed against them, his very soul mixed with theirs, there is now gaping air, something missing. Perhaps the death of his family only worsened that feeling. Perhaps that’s why he wanted a family in the first place. Perhaps knowing that people can be ripped from him so suddenly, so violently, without any warning, makes him crave that familiarity, that guaranteed company, that there will always be someone there.

But what’s in there, thematically speaking?

I’d like to get a bit meta. (who would have thought?) Richtofen, at least in this hypothetical storyline, would be the community, or at least the old guard. Wanting that return, even if it wasn’t as great as he has made it out to be. (It was bad. He hurt people and was hurt himself.) So bringing his team back would symbolize him abandoning the future, the world that Nikolai sacrificed everything for, to go back.

Those opposing him, namely the new crew, possibly Samantha, would ultimately symbolize the future. Wanting to move forwards, to leave the past. That no one living can exist in the past. Even if it's different and scary and brand new, it has to be done. You have to keep moving or you will be left behind.

I think it would be something very hard to chew, but ultimately cathartic to the community. A more “proper” goodbye to the old crew. They were very, very, very unceremoniously killed off in a way the community perceived to be disrespectful to not only the characters themselves, but the player base,and the story itself. “Re-doing” that, in a sense, might give the characters themselves more time to come to terms with it, as well as the community.

Now, it’s fair to criticize bringing them back just to kill them immediately afterwards. But, isn’t that what happened in BO3? Perhaps, not an exact 1 to 1, but I do know a few old heads only stayed with BO3 because they would get to see Ultimis again after them being MIA in BO2 and slowly warmed up to Primis along the way.

Truthfully, I think they’re dead as doornails. At most, they live in whatever memories Eddie has. And ours, too, I guess. Anyway poll. For science. Zombie science!!!

my fallen london OC! i made them by accident a few months ago and as you can tell ive very quickly developed scoundrel brainrot. it's a terminal illness for which there is no cure and the symptoms are instead of brain there is scoundrel.

in terms of actual character rundowns, their full moniker is The Bandaged Scoundrel, though i tend to call them "the scoundrel" for short. their real name is D█████, but they'd sooner die permanently than respond to or even acknowledge its existence.

Danganronpa THH - The toll of the memory wipe

Had this stewing for a long time and now, I shall talk about this. Ahem! So, it is very apparent that like, everybody in Danganronpa gets screwed. Every student, dead or surviving gets messed up in some way. This applies to both being in the killing game and just backstories too. However, I wanna specifically talk about the brain wiping aspect here with the survivors in THH. Yeah. They got FUUUUCKED. Even though they DID escape, there is no guarantee that they will ever get the majority of their memories back. That was a pretty fundamental part of their lives. The full transition in a sense from being a teen, a still minor, to adulthood. Or like, high school to the real world. And they will never fully be able to remember that. There's more to this though! For instance, we know they got SOME memories back like with Kyoko and the majority of the stuff she dealt with in the past. She's a bit more of an exception though as you can tell she had some ideas of her past still remaining. Like how she still did detective stuff despite forgetting so much about herself. It was just like it was in her nature to do that kinda stuff. The others though at least have the recollection of them speaking with the headmaster and all. However, that's just that one part that's known and some other things. Some mundane memories are potentially lost or maybe even some other things too that the survivors might not want to forget for sentimental reasons. Also, we don't know how vivid or how foggy these memory recollections may be and there's a good chance there could be the misremembering of things too in some cases. And, let's say that they all DO remember everything by some miracle. They are still never getting that back even more than before. Like, it's not just them not being able to say the things they wanted to say during the killing game or apologizing for stuff like most of them apologizing for how they treated Sakura or looking back and feeling bad for how they handled Taka after Mondo died. I mean, not many of them really reached out to him while he was in immense grief though we don't know how many of them would even know what to do. Only Makoto kinda reached out and that's entirely if the player choses for him to do so. In the scenario where all 6 (not counting Syo cus memory's intact as Toko's alter) are able to remember EVERYTHING Junko stole from them, by the time they remember it all, it's too late. And, imagine if their pre-tragedy selves were a bit different due to certain circumstances in their lives like if something bad happened or if they got some good news going on or just like, emotional development and maturity. All of that got derailed, backpedaled, or lost forever. Also, going back to the maturity side of this, remember. They may all be adults now but, they didn't even KNOW they were because of what Junko did. They all just thought that they were high school teens in this shitty predicament being stuck in a place that may be Hopes Peak, may not be. They all still acted like teens too whether they'd like to admit it or not. So, once the survivors have that realization, that's gotta hit kinda hard too. Also, they could potentially have some developmental problems. Would not be surprised. Then there is also thinking of specific characters dealing with all of this. Makoto now is a big figure as the Ultimate Hope so he doesn't have much time to dwell on the fact that, just a bit ago, he still thought he was a teen and is now put in this big leadership role to fix the world. That's a lotta pressure for anyone. Or just them all being in the future foundation and all and having little to no room of error in regards of fixing the world. And gosh, I could go on and on about this. And I wonder too. Do any of the survivors have a bit of spite for Syo? Like, Syo's got her memories still intact and didn't tell anyone about this. I can see Makoto being understanding about this though. He's understanding like that he could probably get Syo being confused and only knowing so much anyway due to being hidden.
