hate being a woman sports fan man it feels like every few years I’m experiencing the same gang rape trial play out in different sports I’m a fan of and it’s the same outcome every time and yet I can’t stop myself from self harming by looking at commentary about it compulsively

#like I’m still mad at the Ulster rugby case and now I’m upset abt the hockey one #ofc r/hockey are being vitriolic abt it and all calling the girl a liar .#have had such a shitty week in general and ofc when it rains it pours and now I’m upset abt this too :/#it’s just such a pervasive reminder of how NOT WELCOME women are in these spaces - both from other fans of the sports and the athletes #like makes me sick that I invest emotionally in a bunch of men who in all likelihood would not respect my personhood #and would cover up for their buddies if one of them were to violate me #or would Yknow be scumbags themselves #not to make something that ruined someone else’s life about me. but idk it just hurts #especially as someone who’s experienced horrible things myself for which I have basically no proof for #it’s all just yet another reminder that I would never be believed and would also be called a liar if I were to ever speak up about things #I’ve experienced
