Dick would be LIVID when he finds out that Bruce saved the fucking JOKER over saving his son from the same way he ORIGINALLY died
“WHAT DO YOU MEAN YOU DIDNT EVEN CHECK TO SEE IF JASON WAS OKAY?! OF COURSE HES GONNA BE PISSED WTF BRUCE?!!”
And when he finds out the Jason actually did die this time?? Robin became a thing because of Richard Grayson being a gremlin who wanted REVENGE for his parents deaths, you think after all the trauma he went through with Jason and his death and revival that he’s gonna be any kind of sympathetic to Bruce?? Dick literally killed Joker for killing his brother who he had major regrets about and now he finds out his own father killed that very same brother just to save that STUPID FUCKING CLOWN?!
DPxDC idea: The Batarang Incident kills Jason and he returns as an Infinite Realms ghost.
Humans are not inclined towards surviving incidents like having their throats cut or being in an explosion that brings down a building on them. One after the other, with no rescue or medical attention? Jason died again in that confrontation with Batman and the Joker. He returns as a Ghost of the Infinite Realms.
For one reason or another, perhaps he forms right away right next to his corpse, perhaps Batman never looks for his body, Jason is able to return to being the Red Hood without much trouble. Sure he covers every inch of skin and uses a voice changer, but he did that before, it's nothing new. If he's a bit more paranoid about it, well chalk it up to his father having stuck a batarang in his neck the last time he removed his helmet.
Jason is just glad that his suit covers up the glow. Because he does that now. Glow. All the time. Compared to the glowing? Inhuman changes of colouration are just window dressing. Getting a hang of his new powers took a couple of weeks, but the timing was convenient - people might have expected him to be out of the game for months with the injuries he should have had.
So Jason's ghost now. It's fine. When he asked his father Batman to choose between killing him or letting him kill the Joker, he can't say this was an outcome he expected. But it's fine. Everything is fine.
(It's not fine.)

Prompt 296
Through a series of miscommunication, the League is now under the impression that Batman, strange cryptid that he is, may or may not have given birth to the other vigilantes running around in Gotham. This was not helped by Bruce referring to all of his children, no matter how big they get, as his babies. Nor was it helped by Red Robin, in the middle of a narcolepsy-fueled imminent crash, mentioned how he had no mother.
It also doesn’t help that no one is aware that they are in fact completely normal people, and not aspects of Gotham itself brought to life. Though really that’s on the bats themselves, because at this point they should at least count as undead.

Jason: *slaps Tim over the head*
Tim: Dude!
Tim: Why'd you do that???
Jason: *shrugs* Dunno. You look especially punchable today.
Tim: It wasn't even a punch!
Jason: Well if you say so.
Jason: *punches Tim*
Tim: Dude!

"Angry robin" "violent robin" "misbehaving robin" shut up and accept my alternative; spunky Robin. Determined and head strong, can out-stubborn the Batman, has a strong moral-backbone and does what he thinks is right regardless of what anybody else says, Robin. Jason who was sassy and quippy and made crude jokes with a smile on his face. Jason who hid in Bruce's cape and whispered gossip to him. Jason who, if Bruce refused him something, could keep bothering endlessly until Bruce caved. And also dramatic Jason. If Bruce tells him no, it becomes a whole theatrical show; a monologue, a narration, embellishments, and falling onto the floor in his grief upon the fact his cruel father has denied him once again.
(Jason who has suffered through abuse and homelessness and poverty and starvation, who is the Fight out of Fight or Flight, who's built up defenses and walls and when pushed and triggered responds with the thing that's always protected him; anger. He's sweet and kind and funny, and when he sees a pimp hitting a prostitute he gets furious and responds with violence.)
#my dc posting#dc#jason todd#jaybin#im having so many thoughts abt jaybin and he is so important to me#in one fic he went on a hunger strike bc alfred didnt eat w them and did it for so long they had to compromise#i love a jaybin 100% willing to menace and bother batman until the man folds. as is his right#the thing abt jason's backstory is that it shows him unwilling to suffer for a home#ma gunn's is bad; he gets beat up and she tries to get him to help rob a place. so he leaves! and rats the whole thing out to batman#and shows up himself cus he didnt think he had been believed#and lets not forget the fact he hit batman with a tire iron and called him a 'big boob'!#the boy's got moxie!! let jaybin be crass and angry and sassy and flawed and traumatized without reducing him to 2d caricature of a 'troubl#d kid'#i dont like a jason who did nothing but use excessive violence and disobey orders and be cocky and all that shit#i like a jason who was. oh yknow. a complex person!! a child/teen who has been fucking abused!!!#you shouldnt erase the fact that jason's reaction/response to stressful situations and triggers IS anger#it's not an indication that he was always gonna become a criminal/red hood or whatever. get outta here w that shit#but like. let us not go so far in the other direction we forget to have him react and be affected by the abuse he's suffered#anyway. if anyone should be a drama-queen it should be jaybin. once he becomes truly comfortable w bruce he should dial it up to 11#a lot of red hood's appeal (to me&many others) is that he is an 'imperfect' victim. meaning he is angry and flawed and doesnt suffer quietl#but is loud and obvious abt it#so when i see jaybin written as the opposite its like. man whats that about#anyway. jaybin is good and cares and wants to help and protect people. and by god if i ever see anybody writing#him having arguments with bruce about the no kill rule WHILE robin again im gonna throw hands istg-#my tags are like a hidden treasure box. most of what i say is in here lmao

utrh au where jason knows exactly what went down after his death and is instead doing the red hood stuff because batman's reaction was to grievously maim muggers and petty thieves. because jason's a crime alley kid at heart and he knows what desperation looks like and why people turn to crime and he knows how much hospital bills can fuck up a person's life forever.
robin dies and batman ruins countless lives in the city he's meant to protect as a coping mechanism. it takes another fucking child becoming robin again to fix him.
why is this man being trusted as gotham's protector.

Unpopular opinion but Joker should be as much as Harley Enemy as he is Batman's, and way more than he is to Jason Todd.
Jason Todd needs to be freed from his death and joker it just ties him behind as the Robin who died and it's pretty much just a limbo at this point. He got back at him, didn't felt great let him be.
But Harley does deserve to have a better revenge.
I say that because, we already saw joker get at Batman at every fucking way possible, we know how it goes, hell almost any person who read enough comics could make-up a issue by themselves at this point on how much those fuckers keep getting confront at eachother other like, we get it.
But with a writer who actually respects and understand Harley and use her as a character and not "quirky pixie dream crazy girl 🤪🤪" could make an interesting run where she confronts joker in the same level.
I'm not talking about tie her with him or restrict her character no. I'm talking about how if someone's have the right, the skills, the knowledge to get back at Joker other than Batman this person should be Harley. And if there's someone (other than Batman) who Joker definitely wouldn't stay back just watch thrive this person would be Harley.
Also it really surprises me how Harley isn't the fist person people go after to get knowledge on how to confront Joker (I get why Batman doesn't do it though).
Not only makes sense to his character (as an asshole that threats people's as pawns) as it makes space to a different approach in comic books set on Gotham.

me watching bruce regret his parenting choices with dick and tim and damien in a genuine way and then seeing him regret his parenting choices with jason in a "i regret raising him/i should've known better/i should've known his true crime alley roots/i made him a failure and he's my mistake" kind of way

~ Batman: Knightfall
It seems that beating up the Joker is therapeutic for Bruce. It filled him with determination to survive and fight back, refusing to die from Joker's hands when he already took his son from him.
Then, he remembers that it's Bane who's behind all of this, so he redirects his determination. As tired as he is, he is not giving up. Batman never gives up.

Something I really especially love about btas is that every character is just… a human. Batman doesn't just show up and incapacitate 30 people no issue, he has to fight and brawl with just 1 or 2 henchmen. He can be taken out by hits and poisons and such. The rogues have to surrender when the cops get guns to their faces, and can be overpowered even by normal people. Joker isn't some pure evil incarnation of the Devil or whatever, he's just… a really bad man. Same for every other villain and character. And Bruce actually gets to show personality and emotion beyond Brooking and Grunting. He makes jokes and laughs and gets sad.
I'm really getting to understand why people call this the best Batman adaptation.
