Redesign of the Anaesthetic/Nonaesthetic/A-aesthetic flag
(Again its mainly because I think we deserve atertiaryspec flags that are not just like a attraction color recolor of the ace flag !!)
(As pink in the old flag represents aesthetic attraction)
I chose the color mint to not resemble other commonly used aspec flags too closely !! The color progression is also meant to look distinct from existing aspec flags.
version with more muted colors + more contrast is below ! (This one is the original redesign I made !!)
Reminder that this flag is inclusive of anaesthetic ppl who are not aspec in other ways, and anaesthetic spectrum people who experience some aesthetic attraction and/or favorability!!

Flags for general relationship stances, alterous relationships, queerplatonic relationships and observing
relationship favorable | relationship indifferent | relationship repulsed
relationship averse | relationship ambivalent | relationship oscillating
Relationship stances are for stances regarding all types of relationships.
alterous relationship favorable | alterous relationship indifferent | alterous relationship repulsed
alterous relationship averse | alterous relationship ambivalent | alterous relationship oscillating
qpr favorable | qpr indifferent | qpr repulsed
qpr averse | qpr ambivalent | qpr oscillating
observing favorable | observing indifferent | observing repulsed
observing averse | observing ambivalent | observing oscillating
Basically a relationship stance regarding observing/looking at people or however one would define a sort of "aesthetic relationship".

⋆ Multi anattraction ⋆
⇉ Definition: Multi anattraction is a label for all individual who have two or more types of a-attraction within the primary and secondary types of attraction (Romantic, sexual, platonic/queerplatonic, sensual, aesthetic, alterous). This could be seen as an umbrella term and can be used in company of the a-attraction labels someone has
A good know example of multi anatracction can be AroAce but isn't limited to just that. Another example can be someone who is asexual, asensual and aromantic; someone who is aromantic and aplatonic/aqueerplatonic; someone who is asexual and a-aesthetic; someone who don't feel any of the primary and secondary types of attraction etc.
⇉ Alt Names: Multi a-attractions, Multianattracction, Multi non attraction
PNG symbol of multi anattraction
This symbol can be used to any kind of specification of the umbrella to represent the nature of multiple a-attractions, free to put in labels that fit this criteria
Coined by: Me Requested by: N/A
Img ID 1: A flag with five horizontal stripes being orange, black, pink, white, pink, black and orange, the pink and white stripes are thinner than the orange and black ones. In the middle is the multi anattraction symbol [see Img ID 3]
Img ID 2: A flag with five horizontal stripes being orange, black, pink, white, pink, black and orange, the pink and white stripes are thinner than the orange and black ones

Alternate a*spec / anattractional spectrum pride flag
I wanted to create an a*spec / anattractional spectrum pride flag that visually includes at least all the most common a*- spectrums (asexual, aromantic, aplatonic, asensual, aqueerplatonic, analterous, anaethetic, asocial) but.... it's hard. Like there are so many colours and either you skip some or the flag seems like a wild mix of colours that hurts the eyes. So in the end I thought, why not go for one colour and work with shades. And put an "A" on top of it :D So here's a flag with four blue stripes in different shades representing the different a*spec labels and identities and spectrums plus symbolising that we all exist in spectrums. And to still kinda visually fit to the a*spec flags (plus it just looks nice) there's a grey and a black stripe. The grey representing all the grey areas on and between the spectrums. Black standing for the absence of attraction. And the A is pretty obvious I guess - a*-spec.

-
Straight/het/hetero a-spec flags :D
I saw @neopronouns' straight aroace flag and was inspired to make other a-spec versions. I know straight aro, and likely others, have already been made before, but I wanted to make my own. For mine that look like ones already made before, because I am following a flag format afterall, just think of these as high res versions (I didn't check / try to find every pre-existing straight a-spec flag). It was fun to make these, and I love sets of things. :)
-
Each term has 2 flags, the first ones follows this 7 stripe straightbian format, and the seconds follows this 6 stripe straightbian format.
The colors (so not the white/greys/black) come from their respective a- flags. The aqueerplatonic, atertiary, aphysical, and aemotional flags in particular use the colors from my flags, link.

Im a nonaesthetic alloaro (whos also completely atertiary)!!
I have a question. Where are our non-aesthetics?
I follow the aromantic, asexual, and aroace tags, they all have people talking about them. I checked on aplatonic, and even though it's less than aroace, they still have a community it seems.
But I checked all of the related tags, non-aesthetic, A-aesthetic, even anaesthetic, and there was nothing about us!
Where are we? Who are we? Surely if it's alright to not experience sexual attraction, and romantic attraction, and platonic attraction, surely it's alright to not experience aesthetic attraction.
I wanna know where y'all are at, I'm lonely :(
#-Rift#Some other headmates are as well !!#anaesthetic#nonaesthetic#I recently came up w a new nonaesthetic flag that I should probably post#(Hate how the old one is like if ace flag was pink its like have some fucking creativity will you) (plus pink is the aesthetic attraction#Color so doubly wtf actually)

PSA about hair removal
This post is for anyone who's seeking hair removal, but especially for the many other trans women / trans fems I see being given misinformation by laser or electrolysis technicians, especially in the US and UK 🥺
Laser hair removal
* Permanent hair reduction.
* Always shave the area closely beforehand. Laser is less effective if you do not shave.
* Ideally look for a clinic that uses something like a Candela GentleMax Pro or newer. Such machines are less painful & more effective than ones like any of the Alma Soprano devices.
* 6-8 sessions will typically be the sweet spot before moving on to electrolysis.
* If the technician or clinic tell you not to use numbing cream, that's a massive red flag against their knowledge. A technician does not need pain feedback from you to know they're using safe levels!
Electrolysis
* Permanent hair removal.
* You must let the hair grow at least a few mm before a session.
* Ask your electrologist for an estimate of how long it will take to clear an area, as their expertise and speed will vary. For example, NHS Scotland estimates it can take 250-400 hours to fully clear a face of facial hair. My own highly-experienced electrologist estimated 100-150 hours max for me, but has nearly cleared my face in under 25 hours. She's not yet taken more than about 120 hours to clear someone's face / neck fully.
* Again, numbing cream is not only absolutely safe, it's in fact highly recommended if you cannot afford local anaesthetic injections.
* For most folks, it's as much a mental challenge as it is about physical pain management. Even with numbing cream and strong painkillers, it's gonna hurt, especially in 2 hour+ sessions and around sensitive areas (especially the top lip and around the mouth).
* Aloe vera gel helps with post-electrolysis swelling and recovery.
Numbing cream
* The most common brand of numbing cream is EMLA, which is 2.5% lidocaine and 2.5% prilocaine.
* The strongest cream I've found without prescription is Tattoo Numbing Cream, which is 5% lidocaine and 5% prilocaine.
* If you can get a stronger cream on prescription at an affordable cost, this is definitely something to consider.
*To help with absorption, exfoliate and clean the area before applying cream, apply 60-90 mins before a session, and cover in an air-tight, water-tight dressing (cling film / plastic wrap works well).
Sadly, I can't provide much information on local anaesthetic injections. In the UK, they're typically arranged either by a medically-trained specialist at an electrolysis clinic or separately (such as at a dentist's) immediately before attending a session.

Fanfic question!
What is a code blue like in real life? Is it as chaotic as it looks on TV?
code blues or MET calls are not as chaotic as you think.
i'll explain terms that might be a bit confusing at the bottom as well!
first, let me breakdown the process of calling a code itself:
somebody notices a patient is deteriorating, unresponsive, vitals outside of parameters, c/o chest pain or other emergency, or basically just that there is something to be concerned about upon examination or from other indicators (e.g. alarms, verbal reporting, visual assessment, etc.)
the red or yellow button on the wall is pressed, activating the MET call. the colour of the button depends on the hospital and sometimes even the ward. it is always clearly labelled as the emergency button.
that patient is about to get extremely popular. anyone who's available will come into the room, the first to respond will have the MET call trolley in tow usually, etc, and people will keep coming in until the alarm is deactivated.
the alarm is deactivated once the appropriate amount of people are in there. the coding patient is not the only one on the ward, there need to be staff available for the other patients too.
everyone gets a job.
criteria for MET calls is not always just respiratory or cardiac arrest! here's the criteria i am most familiar with, it can be one or all of them:
their airway is "threatened".
all respiratory arrest meaning resp rate is <5 or >30. SpO2 is <90% and/or there is an increase in 02 requirements.
all cardiac arrests meaning pulse is <40 or >140. SBP is <90 or >200.
a sudden decrease in neurological function. GCS or AVPU indicating nil response to non-painful stimuli or unresponsive entirely. repeated or prolonged seizures.
if you are worried about the patient and they don't fit the above criteria.
i've seen people call a code because they needed an extra set of hands fast.
i will add more about how codes work under the cut:
codes are fast but people don't sprint. when you go for a run, generally you're out of breath when you stop, what use will the team be if they're panting and out of breath when they arrive? don't get me wrong, we're not taking our sweet time but we need to be smart about responding because you're no help if you need to catch your breath.
some cases might be flagged as having the potential for a MET call, in these cases the appropriate trolleys will be in the room already and there will be more staff than usual. e.g. in theatre, usually there's about 5-6 of us but in a case flagged with a risk of major haemorrhage, there'd be at least an extra 2 per team (anaesthetics and surgical). this is also flagged on the surgical safety checklist for accountability and to make the team aware.
we take turns doing chest compressions and anybody on the team can do them, i know in shows they like to pretend it's only the doctors but that is wrong. multiple people are assigned this role and sub out after about 2 minutes to prevent fatigue. everybody in the room is trained in CPR.
if the patient is not breathing, chest compressions will be started by the initial responder after calling the code.
if the patient is not breathing, they will be "bagged" which is bag valve mask ventilation, bag-valve ventilation, manual resuscitator and probably a few other names. we can also attach the valve to the end of an endotracheal tube or other airway devices if in situ.
it's someone's job to get loved ones out of the room. in shows, you always see relatives watching a code, this wouldn't happen. loved ones are taken out of the room. they'll usually be taken to get a drink or to a family room.
there is always someone managing the airway, in my department that is me.
CPR is really tiring. physically and emotionally.
the response and treatment all really depends on the reason for the call. there are trolleys for specific emergencies (e.g. MH and paediatric emergencies).
there will be someone taking notes.
communication is crucial. instructions are clear, people communicate findings clearly, etc. e.g. "resuming compressions," will be announced to everyone in the room.
"if you don't need to be here, get out." any non-essential personnel will be removed from the room, we kick students out of the room if we think they're just going to get in the way.
some people might crack jokes. it sounds bad but everybody responds to traumatic situations differently and a MET call is traumatic.
i've met several people who will sing stayin' alive to help people doing CPR maintain effective compressions.
everything is very fluid and well rehearsed.
generally, the doctor is always the one to call time of death but under certain circumstances, in certain locations and with specific qualifications, a nurse can. i don't see it because of the department i work in, there's always a doctor available.
after a MET call:
patient will be transferred to ICU if required.
loved ones are updated and brought back into the room if possible. this will be done by a doctor.
there is a staff debrief to discuss what happened and how we're feeling as we come down from the adrenaline rush.
important note: DNR patients are different.
it would look very chaotic to somebody who is not a worker but to us, it's organised and calm.
the first time i ever responded to a MET call, i remember thinking, "wow i hope my pants don't split" while i was doing CPR.
explanations:
Sp02 is your peripheral oxygen saturation which is typically measured on a finger.
SBP is systolic blood pressure and is the first number you see on a blood pressure reading. a BP of 120/80 is 120 systolic and 80 diastolic.
GCS is the Glasgow coma scale which is an indicator of a patients level of consciousness (LOC). it tests ocular, oral and motoric response individually on a scale. GCS is reported as numbers, e.g. "GCS 15, E4, V5, M6," it is important to break down the values so that the deficits are clearly identified. i can make a separate post about LOC and testing if anyone would like.
AVPU scale is Alert, Verbal, Pain, Unresponsive. it's a simplification of GCS.
painful stimuli are how we assess LOC in patients not responding to normal stimuli such as verbal commands or gentle physical stimuli. the most common painful stimuli you see are the trapezius squeeze which is gripping the trapezius muscle in the shoulder, sternal rub which is sort of grinding your knuckles over the sternum, and mandibular pressure which is stimulating the mandibular nerve in the angle of the jaw. in my field, we use mandibular pressure unless contraindicated by a head or spinal injury. we are checking to see if the patient will open their eyes, groan and/or respond verbally, or move to guard the site and/or move in discomfort.
in situ is just "in place" generally. "IV in situ". in anatomy, it has a different meaning but this is the meaning i am referring to here.

Redesign of the Atertiary flag
colors are based on colors from some atertiary label flags, some are inverse color of colors representing tertiary attraction. Redesign because as an atertiary person I really don't like how the older atertiary flag is just tertiary attraction flag with a black stripe slapped onto it.

Black Stripe A- Identities
This are Black Stripe A- Identities that describe when one feels a complete lack of this attraction. If someone feels a lack of said attraction they might just use the specific A- label but if they want to emphazise that they experience zero attraction they might use the black stripe identities. This is based on the black stripe asexual[link], there is also a green stripe aromantic label[link] however I wanted to make all black stripe variants since the black in the flags stands for the lack of attraction, so I slightly altered the green stripe aromantic and made the alternative name black stipe aromantic.

Non-SAM a-spec flags :D
These are included in the various a-spec flag sets I posted, but I also thought they should have their own post (to help explain it a bit).
-
Non-SAM analt (analterous)
-
Non-SAM apl (aplatonic)
-
Non-SAM asen (asensual)
-
Non-SAM anae (anaesthetic)
-
Non-SAM aqp (aqueerplatonic)
-
Non-SAM (non split attraction model) is a broad term. Some examples would be:
Only identifying as either analterous/aplatonic/asensual/anaesthetic/aqueerplatonic.
Experiencing RoSe (romantic+sexual attraction) as one thing.
Experiencing all attractions as one thing.
Opting out of Rose.
Opting out of all a-spec and allo-spec orientations except either analterous/aplatonic/asensual/anaesthetic/aqueerplatonic.
Feeling as though their analterous/aplatonic/asensual/anaesthetic/aqueerplatonic identity is their most important identity.
And others too.
Whether you mean non-SAM to mean only RoSe or including tertiary attractions too, or why you identify as non-SAM, or how you experience attraction, etc., there's a lot of ways to be non-SAM.
I'm non-SAM ace myself, and I thought it would be nice to make some other non-SAM flags.
-
For the flags, there's two versions for each. They both use the purple/blue/turquoise/cream from this general non-SAM flag (by @arokill) to represent non-SAM. The first is based off of the five stripe non-SAM flags (like here and here), and the second is based off of my alt non-SAM flags (here).
The other colors are from the respective analterous/aplatonic/asensual/anaesthetic/aqueerplatonic flags. I used light blue for analterous. Yellow (first set), purple, blue, and green (second set), for aplatonic. Orange for asensual. Pink for anaesthetic. Yellow and pink (first set), and two shades of teal (second set), for aqueerplatonic.
-
I think these turned out quite nice. I really like the non-SAM label.
