While most people have been posting screenshots of the show in which Blitz looks guilty or frightened as apparent evidence for him genuinely having feelings for Stolas, I'm glad that there are folks looking at the more realistic conclusion that a relationship, the concept of intimacy, is what he's struggling with.

While the show will likely favour romantic relationships, I think it could be a lot more interesting to return to the platonic, professional, and/or familial relationships of the main cast (namely with Millie, Moxxie, and Loona). Blitz and Loona's relationship could surely use some work, or at the very least Blitz could sit her down and talk about the ways he's messed up (exploding at people and destroying his own relationships) and is worried that she might do the same. To be clear, this wouldn’t be a “Don't worry” conversation bur rather a “Here's something I've noticed, what should we do about it? Should we do something about it?”

With Millie, her recurrent lack of focus in the show might actually work in our favour here. Some relationships are built around low contact, so what if Blitz tried to get closer to his friends/employees and the two realize that they don’t like it, leading to them delegating their boundaries and figuring out whether they are polite strangers, friends, or something else (I dunno, colleagues?).

Moxxie and Blitz's relationship has already been worked on (mildly emotionally intimate employer/employee), and as I write this, a parallel could be drawn between Blitz and Moxxie versus Stolas and Blitz. A false parallel, perhaps, but still a parallel which could be noticed by any of those involved. Blitz is on a guilt trip, literally, so the next person he could apologize to is Moxxie? The slapstick humour makes what is intended to be an actual transgression in this show versus what is just mutual fun confusing. The two would probably end with their relationship being unchanged, but it would still be a conversation worth having.

The pilot was about family, that is what they explicitly describe themselves to be (Blitz says it and the narrative follows him, therefore it,s what the show wanted us to view them as). The thing about families is that… they do stuff together. They talk, interact, maybe transgress, and definitely compromise.

(Can you tell that the hyperfixation on romance, not just in the show but also in the fandom, is starting to irk me?)

Note: I like how the country sinners both look like imps. One was killed by imps whereas the other committed an act of wrath right before she died, so it feels fitting for them both to be imp-passing. I'm curious if any other characters might be similar in this regard.

Ok so…I’m actually thinking of making a full rewrite of Hazbin Hotel. Like a rewrite of the first season.

Hazbin isn’t nearly as messy as Helluva Boss is and there is a lot of groundwork to work with when it comes to the ideas and how to fix the story. Plus I do have a clear idea of what I want to do in the rewrite.

The season 1 rewrite will go through four phases:

Phase 1: The conception phase - this is the phase where I start, well, conceptualizing my ideas for the rewrite and what I want to do. Basically creating character backstories, personalities and arcs for the characters as well as giving an idea of how each arc is gonna play out.

It’s also where I’ll be coming up with the main plot of the season, the world-building, lore, major events that happen in the season, ideas for episodes, etc. Hazbin already has a fully fleshed out world so I wouldn’t need to do too much work, however, the world building has holes in it and they would need to be fixed, which is going to happen in this phase.

Phase 2: The outlining phase - the phase where I start outlining that will happen in each episode. Basically now I have the ideas for episodes and now I need to give specific outlines to what’s going to happen in each episode - what major character developments would occur, what information would be given, etc.

Phase 3: The drafting phase - the phase where I actually start writing down my ideas after having the outlines for each episode planned out. Just a rough idea of how I want each episode to play out.

Phase 4: The final drafting phase - Basically me fully refining the episode to be stronger.

Currently the rewrite has just started it’s conception phase, so I’m excited to see how y’all would like my ideas of how to fix this mediocre series. I always posted about ways to fix helluva and hazbin amd rewriting certain arcs but I never got to a full rewrite of either shows. I think this’ll be a fun exercise for me to test my writing skills (and for me to improve as a writer after making some shitty fan fictions lmao).

So ya! I’ll give y’all status updates on rewrite. This is a massive project for me as a newbie writer so…ya…bye.

FIZZMODEUS SONG RN I CAN'T DO THIS

I heard Helluva Boss stans cite this as evidence that HB was never about the business and was actually just about chsracters all along. Right now I'm not putting this idea to scrutiny. I won't speak for the artist, but for the art.

Let's say I'm writing a pilot about a group of people, a show about nothing, just people with their issues, who just happened to work together. A very abonormal premise, what is the point of having them work together if they're not gonna work together?

What would I write? I'd probably put not much focus on their jobs, establish that they do work together, but not dwell on it. Because when you dwell on something in the pilot, that's exactly what setting the premise means.

What did Helluva Boss do in its pilot?

The very first line and scene are about getting new customers. That's how the show is introduced – IMP.

They show you a whole song about the business and the business model.

There's a montage of Loona being bad at her job/gererally being an angry mess. All in the office.

They give you the backstory of how Blitzø got access to the living world, to run his business.

The show establishes Stolas's character, the one who gave Blitzø the book, as a horrible sex freak, amd that Blitzø.. doesn't like it.

Establish Moxxie and Blitzø's dynamic, and that Blitzø is a stalker.

Blitzø says the r slur.

At the end it all comes back to the business. (Even though it's never really left the topic). The kid from the IMP song came back, starting to roast them.

Loona gets a text that he was the target they were paid for by their client, they kill the kid.

The epilogue starts and Blitzø talks about, wouldn't you know it, IMP.

It would be stupid to deny that this episode was establishing dynamics. But it did so through the lense of the business. Like the first episode of Brooklyn 99.

Helluva Boss's pilot is more similar to Brooklyn 99 than let's say, friends.

Friend's pilot has very little emphasis on the character's jobs. They establish the characters and how they interact, where they hang out, and that Ross just got divorced and is in love with Rachel. All the things you need to know before watching the show.

Brooklyn 99, much like Helluva Boss, estsblishes dynamics within the framework of the police station.

I'm not saying that there's one type of sitcom or one type of story you can tell. I'm saying that if Helluva Boss was just a show about characters, they shouldn't have made the pilot so IMP-focused like your typical work place comedy.

I have few question but i start with HB: why do you hate Stolas/Stolitz ? Thanks for the ask! I've seen a lot of people call Stoliz the female Catradora, a toxic queer ship that is heavily romanticized by the show and fandom where the abuser is shown as the victim. And yeah that's accurate. Stolas literally is forcing Blitzo to have sex with him for the grimoire which he needs for his job mind you, but the show tries to say that it's ok because....Stolas has a mean wife...? It keeps trying to make you feel pity for the abuser and it's really sad. Next why do I ship Blitzo x Striker more than Stoliz! It honestly just had more chemistry. Before Striker tried to kill Blitzo, they had great chemistry and really got along. Also it's canon that Blitzo thinks Striker is hot sooooo honestly if Striker never attempted to kill Blitzo, I would probably ship them a lot more, but no. Now Hazbin Hotel...that one is a mixed bag...I really like the song despite them basically having no use amd people always pointing out that they're singing isn't really funny? Angel dust is just so....eugh...I made a whole post on it but Helluva Boss episode 4 is really one of the worst things I've ever watched, I wish I was joking. Now Chuggie...I really don't have any strong opinions on it, i think they make good friends but I don't see anything romantic. But it's fine if it people ship it, it doesn't seem toxic and it's not hurting anyone so it's not big deal. My favorite HH ship is probably...hm...Vag x Death, that seems pretty cute.
