“Protecting Me From Myself”
(Ramblings & WIPs below cut!)
Who, me? Making Marble Hornets content? Never.
But actually, I have no idea what came over me with this. A few days ago I watched the entirety of the School Rumors webseries, and became so completely obsessed with it that it triggered me to watch and rewatch literally every analog horror series I could find to feel that high again, including, of course, Marble Hornets. And obviously, I can’t watch Marble Hornets without also watching Clear Lakes, and also Eckva, and then of course I HAD to read all of the comics again… (cough) and also some fanfiction (cough), and long story short, I put off a whole day’s worth of homework for tomorrow to work entirely on this all day. Will that come back to bite me? Almost definitely, but I don’t regret it, because this turned out cool as heck!
So… upon further reflection I realize that the concept behind this piece doesn’t make a whole lot of sense in canon? I was just thinking about Tim and Masky, as usual, and how (through the lens of a character frequently seen by the fandom as having DID) it is very interesting that Tim, in that altered state of mind, always forgets what happened as “Masky”, as if he’s protecting himself from what he’s seen, and how Masky could then be viewed as a sort of protector for Tim, even if he also frequently puts him in dangerous situations… and then I remembered halfway through drawing this that literally every single character in this stupid show has memory loss, and that that’s a very well-established part of the lore relating specifically to The Operator, not Tim, and it’s really not as deep as I was making it out to be in my head. So, uh.. feel free to interpret this artwork however you’d like, because you have as good an idea as I do now about what it’s supposed to represent lol

Mysterious disappearances, missing chunks of time, glitchy camera footage, faceless man-like monsters in the woods? Welcome to...
Tumblr media
Marble Hornets has always had a special place in my heart ever since I stumbled upon it in 2019. It's a tradition for me to watch it every Halloween, and I still keep up actively with the comics and other things Troy, one of the creators, still does. The fanfics from the fandom have shaped my taste in reading and style in writing, and the art has inspired me.
So, what better use of my time than to smash it together with the most important show in my life?
---
Marble Owls is a Hunter and Luz focused au that follows the two trying to figure out what's happening to the people in their lives.
Two months ago, Edalyn Clawthorne went missing. One month ago, Hunter's father Caleb went missing.
Two weeks ago, Hunter went missing.
The police aren't doing anything.
Luz, having been infuriated by the cops not doing anything even before her own brother vanishes while on a walk at the local park, Rosswood Park, decides to take the matter to her own hands. As she searches for answers, thinking maybe Hunter for some reason ran away or went to look for his dad, she stumbles upon Hunter's diary and a video camera stuffed under his bed, hidden behind boxes. Deciding Hunter's safety trumps his privacy, she starts going through them.
The confusing, paranoid scribbles and weird corrupted footage of the woods only make Luz more worried and determined to get to the bottom of this. With the bits and pieces of clues she has, she sets out to follow the bread crumbs to track her brother down.
Tumblr media
Hunter, affected by The Operator's influence, is slowly getting more and more paranoid. His dad's disappearance really messes with his head, only adding to the constant feeling of being watched that's been plaguing him for a while now.
While on a walk in Rosswood Park (totally not there trying to find Caleb), Hunter runs into a familiar face. He doesn't quite know the story behind why his father and Philip had a falling out, he was far too young when it happened. But Philip seems to sympathize with what he's been dealing with for the past month or so, so Hunter gives him a chance when he brings up having an idea what happened to Caleb.
The next thing Hunter knows is that he wakes up in a shack in the woods with no memory of how he got there, or how long it's been.
Tumblr media
Philip and Belos were a fun thing to tackle for this. I played around with the idea of them being the same pesron/creature, but eventually settled for separating them. Belos is referred to as "The Operator".
The sickness:
The Operator's influence presents itself in a few ways; increasing paranoia being the strongest. Other effects are coughing fits that worsen the closer The Operator is, losing (sometimes significant) chunks of memory and seizures. As it progresses, the paranoia festers into aggression and violent outbursts. There is medicine to help it, but untreated it can lead to fatal incidents when interacting with other people. The Operator seems to prey on those who have struggled in their life.
Below are some other drawings I've made while workshopping this :)

The Following takes place some time during those that don't see it
Lazari is not in this.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Good luck
Through Hollow Heart and Crimson eyes
Through crumpled lungs and fading lies
The trees will tower, the shadow will follow
And all it grants is a chance to wallow
You know that you can never stop
If you ever do, it will snatch you up
But the dark was always a quiet plane
If it caught you here, could you bear the pain?
But I promise you that up ahead
A house, a hill, a tower, a bed
A talk, a teacher, a comrade, a friend
Not the end of the forest, but a dim lit den
I promise you not a life without fear
Nor a cure to yourself or the dream you hold dear
but a moment in time where the branches can clear
Let's wander together
Keep Going. I'm Here.

ENTRY RED: WHERE IN THE WORLD
A Hollowtown/Redredhat crossover comic
Likely canon to neither story
unless...
Redredhat by @vluisasantiago
It's always 8 pages...
______________________________________________________________
So for those of you who only follow me for creepypasta content and stuffs you might be confused. Uhhhh Redredhat is my like second favorite Slenderverse series (First being Marble Hornets) of all time. It has been a massive inspiration to me and was a big part of how I was able to stay motivated to create Hollowtown.
Sometimes there's art out there that makes other artists wanna just like... create. So I was super hyped in that one entry where she got to feature all the... actually just watch Redredhat the whole thing is on youtube for free
And that inspired me to wanna create a crossover with hollowtown. I know that I do more creepypasta than Slenderverse but like... we both share custody over slenderman... yeah? I can do this... totally
I really really really really wanted to.
I dipped into a few crossovers before with my Laziverse posts and Hollows Obscured
@frutigerangel and @arkstray WATCH REDREDHAT IT'S SUPER GOOD I SWEAR
but seeing as Redredhat is part of the all inviting slenderverse, a barely cohesive multiverse of creativity, I wanted to try creating a more... plausible type of crossover between the two since it could potentially be canon. it's be a little weird to see a drawn version of Carmen interacting with a little demon girl or... Jeffrey
So I decided to feature an OC in this story. One that is very VERY important to the grand of Lazari's story, so people who only follow me for Lazari and creepypasta don't go passing this one up. This is one of the more important things I made regarding Hollowtown
This was also me testing the waters for how I want Hollowtown to look. You could technically call this the first entry in the series.
Think of this like a sneak peak as to what the full series will be like. The obscure creepypasta and slenderverse references, the visuals, the formatting, the art style, the themes, the tidbit of worldbuilding,
Despite not having Lazari in this, this is by far the most Hollowtown thing I've posted so far
And that's important
because Hollowtown won't just be an IEPFB reboot
that's just the keel of this massive behemoth of a story
It's going to include elements from all manner of creepypasta, slenderverse, and even some analog horror in this.
Hollowtown is coming soon guys. The first entries should be out no later than June 30th

Rewatching Marble Hornets really has me questioning why Alex wasn't really included in Creepypasta media, at least alongside his peers with Masky and Hoodie.
This may be spoilers if you've never watched Marble Hornets before (its 15+ years old, but I digress).
First I do want to establish that in Marble Hornets.
Alex is the acting antagonist, Jay is our unreliable protagonist and narrator, Tim eventually becomes a side protagonist. Hoodie is a side character who often seems to help our protagonists. Every other character are side characters that help move things forward and intensify plot- when I go into detail on some characters, some of what I say can be applied to them too.
Next, the Operator's way of controlling it's "proxies".
The Operator has some sort of aura that, when exposed, causes some sort of illness. Coughing fits, seizures, and presumably more. It's presence also in turn causes paranoia, insomnia, memory loss, and a general loss of senses. This is what it seems to use to control others.
You see this with all characters in the series, how ill they get, how paranoid they get, how the worse these all are the more they do things for the Operator. You see this happen to nearly everyone.
For Tim, he is able to eventually curb this via medications, presumably seizure medications. It doesn't fully stop Tim from being controlled by the Operator and acting as Masky, but it does over time seem to make it happen less and less. You also see Masky act in later acts of the series against the Operator, or at least for Jay.
Hoodie is interesting, because you really don't see much from him, but most of his appearances is helping Jay, and you find his house full of medication bottles, presumably stolen from Tim or from some other means. The totheark videos have many purposes. They can threaten Jay, or they can warn him, they can help him. In some you see messages which echo and parrot the drawings Alex makes, in others you see him give Jay clues. He both works for the Operator, but against him and Alex at the same time.
Jay starts off as seemingly one of the only people on the cast/crew of Marble Hornets to not get involved when Alex first started his shenanigans. He remembers Marble Hornets and starts looking, immediately he gets sick and paranoid and starts encountering the Operator. He is tired and irritable, and towards the end you see him make more and more rash decisions, violent decisions. His path seems to mirror Alex, the only difference is that Jay wants to stop all of this.
Alex is the most interesting, because you almost never if at all see him ill. You can presume that maybe he saw the Operator as a kid, as one of the totheark videos show childhood home videos of him and mark him with the Operator's symbols and show's the being there, but you never see it. Alex acts under the operator seemingly at all times. He starts off paranoid, maybe even afraid, but very quickly he becomes numb to it. Seth and Sarah die very early on. He attacks Brian, Tim- all so early on, and he seems to feel no remorse for it. Eventually, it does seem like he falls away from the influence. He moves away, stops recording. This goes on for years, until his girlfriend finds his old camera. Almost instantly the Operator is there. She is missing, but he survives. Once again, the moment the Operator is involved he works under him without skipping a beat. He knows she's gone, he drags Jay into it to stop him from searching further, or perhaps to be a magnet to finish the job of those who escaped before. Alex doesn't have any sort of alter ego. He remembers, he remembers everything. Perhaps he acts out of self preservation, but something else is going on. Alex starts to corrupt the footage just like the Operator, he seems to be able to call it to him and he approaches it, stands in it's wake unaffected. He's too far gone, maybe he always was.
All of this is to say, he is the villain of this story. He may eventually be defeated, but you could argue Tim gets better and moves on and never is a proxy again.
Alex should have, and should be viewed as a more scary person, with the likes of other creepypastas, because for all intents and purposes he was the Operator's favorite, and the one to carry out it's wants and to carry out it's actions. Hoodie and Masky disobeyed time and time again, Alex continued without question or remorse. Killing people not even involved with the story.
Just in terms of story, for the longest time Masky and Hoodie were side characters that popped up once every several entries. It wasn't until over half way through that Tim becomes a central character. Alex is always there. It's his story, it's his tapes, it is him who brought the Operator to them all over and over and over again, he is the main character with Jay as a narrator of things he has done. It all leads back to him.
Something something, i think 15 years is long enough to give this evil guy a bit of spotlight in his own story.

You know when you fixate on a character and there's just not enough fan content to go around? that's how I'm feeling with Nana right now. I legit went through your latest posts trying to get some crumbs. It took a lore post and drawing her once to get me obsessed dude. arghhgh I gotta watch Marble Hornets. to get a better idea of the lore™
YEAH GET OBSESSED WITH HER!!
I’ve never been super interactive online (yeah, I was a chronically online kid, but I never engaged in fandom spaces), so I’m still getting used to sharing my ideas publicly
I’m using Marble Hornets’ lore because I adore their take on Slenderman (from what I’ve gathered from videos and behind-the-scenes stuff, Marble Hornets popped up just months — or even weeks — after the first Slenderman photos surfaced). Their version nails that oppressive, supernatural presence, hell, MH literally invented the whole static distortion and scribbled pages aesthetic we associate with Slender today.
ANYWAY! More Nana context: I’ve always loved characters whose morals warp after losing someone close. In Nana’s case, it’s her best friend, who vanishes because of the Operator (still deciding if I’ll call it/him/they Operator or Slenderman — might change it from time to time). The trauma throws her into episodes of paranoia, psychosis, and short/long-term memory loss. Basically? She’s fucked up.
No Marble Hornets spoilers, but Tim Wright becomes crucial to Nana’s story because he knows the Operator and the sickness it spreads. I want them to team up to destroy him — but let’s be real, it won’t be easy.
That’s why Smile Dog "helps" Nana, it feasts on her desperation and hatred for the Operator, and in exchange, it drops hints about where to find them. And after your comment about Nana searching Slender’s mansion? Now I can’t unsee a brutal fight between her and Eyeless Jack… and yeah, I’ve already imagined an ending
Crumbs about Nana’s personality: most of the time, she’s melancholic, almost apathetic — but social interactions turn her impulsive and volatile. Blame the paranoia, the memory gaps, and the raging frustration of failing to save her friend

spare me a fantasy crumb??.. i know they’re from marble hornets but Tim and Brian??
maybe as some sort of prophets???
Tumblr media Tumblr media
oh my god finally i actually did it. i was fighting for my LIIIFE to finally draw these two. anyway ok yall know the drill i will ramble now
let me clarify that so many characters(including those who have nothing to do with her in canon) are deeply connected to Jane bc 1. she's the princess/queen 2. i need someone to connect the story 3. she's pretty and deserves to be the mc
ok so tims a knight. he climbs up the ranks despite wavering loyalty to the king and queen. he's prob like 40 something in this and watched princess jane grow up. im debating between him going rogue after jeffs attack, or if he has stronger loyalty towards jane since. yk. hes been protecting her since she was a baby and now she's so young and lost her parents and has an entire kingdom on her shoulders now.
regardless, he's always been doing shady shit as a knight, but he was always smart and strong and held up a great image to the public n the royals. decent guy
NOW BRIAN IS MORE FUN TO ME . he was an executioner. i have no real reasoning for this aside from the mask felt very very fitting. i was thinking id put him as an executioner under janes parents, since they'd be more cruel than her, But jane disassembles that bc its freaky and puts him as a knight, getting trained under tim.
although . . you mentioned prophets and i like that idea. maybe smth smth he was an executioner who always had these weird visions and stuff while chopping off heads. and he went to king n queen rambling shit and stuff. and they tell him to shut the fuck up but JANE LISTENED and REMEMBERED and went to him after her parents death and he got put into a brand new weird position. although, i cant really think of a reason Why jane would remember/care if he was just giving prophecies from the operator or something... maybe the operator was the one who got into jeffs head to lead the attack so brian said smth? idk.
maybe ill just make him an executioner prophet turned knight prophet. and obv the prophecies are on behalf of the operator. but jane would follow slender..SO WHO KNOWS
regardless u implanted a very wise thought into my head. im fond of this. thank uuuu

I've always been someone that adores stories and narratives. As a kid, I always got lost in them. My first exposure to well-written stories was when I was 6 years old and discovered Marble Hornets on the family computer, and binge-watched it. That's where my obsession with horror and all things spooky-scary came from. But that's also where my love for stories came from.
My whole life, I've realised, I've never really been myself. I never knew what that was like. When people say, "just be yourself!" it's difficult for me to conceptualise what that's like. And I've realised that it's because quite literally all I had growing up was stories.
My parents weren't neglectful, per se, but they were very busy. We had freshly moved to a whole new country, they were doing everything they could to keep us afloat. That meant my mother always worked during the day, and my father did night shifts so he could at least be present in the household with me. That did mean he was always asleep though. I only ever had stories and unrestricted internet access.
Naturally, this meant I started associating myself with stories, since my entire world became them. For the first 18 years of my life, I've been living a story. I've always treated myself as a character, and treated the others in my life as characters too.
Not that this was a bad thing. But I'm starting to realise it's bad for my self image. All my decisions have been based on what would make the best story. And of course, a lot of the time, this meant I didn't make the best decisions. I wasn't a good writer in my middle school years. I hurt people, I hurt myself, and it was all for the story.
Somewhere along the way, I started seeing other people as more complex characters. I was always frustrated over people deviating from the normal story structures. The cast is supposed to support each other! Why don't they treat me like one of them? I'm just like them! Why can't they see that?
Somewhere along the way, they became people. But that came far more recently than I'd like to admit. I started understanding that people's actions towards me are not wholly based on my actions towards them. And it boggled me. It was so hard for me to grasp, because I've always been so used to the equal action - equal reciprocative reaction in stories. A lot of my self worth has been based on how much people reciprocate things to me. I'm part of the cast! Why do they act like I'm not?
Somewhere along the way, I started seeing others as people. But that was never the same for myself. I've always stressed over my "writing", my "coding". Why am I so flawed? Nobody likes such a flawed character.
This is something I'm working on now, since I've come to recognise it. I'm starting to see myself as a person rather than a character. I'm learning what is and is not "me", instead of what I want to be me. I've discovered I have a passion for small film projects, I've discovered I heavily enjoy sfx makeup, I've discovered I want to be a teacher after high school. I'm very much still taking my baby steps, but it's the first time I've let myself be a person in so long. But I'm doing it. I'm finally doing it.

well ! if I'm posting about my other interests ! have a little how-to guide for getting into marble hornets:
firstly, what is it.
that's an answer in two parts! it's a foundational indie horror web series on youtube that was beloved in its time for its mystery, atmosphere, and editing (pioneering or popularizing many of the techniques that you'll see more commonly now in the analogue horror genre, just with the budget of college students in 2009).
and it's remembered fondly Now for its fascinating representation of mental health (in how it subverts the harmful ways that horror tends to depict more stigmatized disorders, but Also in how it depicts mental and physical health in general), and the underlying queer themes that While subtext at the time have ultimately been confirmed as intentional as one co creators (and actor for the main character) has come out as bisexual!
it is Also a wildly creative and beautiful comic series. written solely by troy wagner (the aforementioned co-creator) and illustrated by jackie reynolds (a long time fan of the series and insanely talented illustrator). taking place after the events of the webseries, the comics take full advantage of this new visual medium to express the horror, atmosphere, and emotions of the series in a more visceral way. and being self published they're free to make whatever they'd like
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
done entirely in water color and ink, it builds beautifully on what was laid down with the original series and carves out its own identity and legacy.
it's also just very lovely seeing queer creators who were once writing subtext be able to just. Be Open about it. both about themselves and their characters. it's a horror story that happens to have queer characters mind, but it's just ! nice.
.
now ! being internet horror that's sat in that weird space between args and analogue horror (nightmind would call it Unfiction, but unfortunately that term hasn't caught on as much as I'd have liked) it's not as simple to get into as just like, Watching A Show.
that's not to say you Can't just watch it, but rather I have ways to help you get more out of it :>
1: The full chronological playlist for the marble hornets web series, including the totheark replies: [Link]
this is exactly what it says on the tin ! the entire series in order, I've even included the dvd extras at the end of each season !
two notes: firstly, the full series is captioned, and I think they're very nice captions! and secondly, there's a lot of loud noises in the series, which the captions help mitigate a bit. this is due in part to the nature of the kind of horror it is (though it doesn't have straight up jumpscares), but Also because troy wagner was HoH at the time he was doing the audio editing for the series.
there's significantly fewer issues with the audio as the series goes on (troy actually got surgery for his hearing!) but for the most part it's fine just keeping it Somewhat lower. except entry five. entry five is so very loud <3
.
2: The in-character twitter for jay merrick (the main character of marble hornets): [Link]
much like the youtube channel is presented as being ran by the main character/pov character of the series (jay merrick), the twitter was created to run along-side the main series! it mostly exists to give us further insight into jay's mental state and personal life that you don't get in the main series, especially early on!
it's a little cumbersome nowadays, especially since twitter doesn't Like being archival. but you kind of just have to scroll all the way to the bottom to when the twitter was created and scroll up to follow along jlkfasdjlkfdas
this is made a Little more difficult because the account got hacked in 2020 and reinstated 2021, so all of the dates are wrong now. but the account always posted when new entries were uploaded so it's easy to watch an entry, check what was posted after it was uploaded, and then see the link for the next entry and know to stop until you've watched.
you don't Have to do it this way, but I think it's the way to get the most out of it!
.
3: All of the translated codes for totheark/tta listed in order: [Link]
back in the day, youtube allowed you to make Video Replies, which would be displayed Under whatever video you were responding to! this feature was ultimately removed because of the tendency to do make clickbait in response to whatever was currently popular, but it was Wonderful in this instance !
the youtube channel and twitter were presented as in character, and they took advantage of this by having a second channel created (named totheark) start Replying to the entries as they were uploaded. these videos were highly edited and contained codes and secrets that were meant as messages to the main character (and the audience)!
there was a dedicated community for code breaking throughout the show's entire life, and this list here goes through every one! I like this one in particular because it Also gives us information on How the codes were broken, in a digestible way.
.
4: Nightmind's marble hornets explained series: [Link]
this is definitely Optional. it's obviously not official media, is outdated now that the comics have started, and I'd say was flawed even at its release. (it's not a spoiler if nobody knows what I'm talking about, so I'll say now that I'm not a fan of his theory with masky, and the seth theory is very famously silly).
BUT! I Do think it's a very good resource when it comes to putting certain crucial things together. as the whole point of the series is that it's a Mystery. you see nearly everything out of order and you're intentionally limited in what you know about characters and their motivations. this series works as a good jumping off point in that it helps to put things into Context and change your perspective on certain events and character With the benefit of said context!
like I said, it's not Required, it might just be helpful! a starting point to help chew on things once you've watched the web series in full for the first time.
.
Comics!: [Link]
comics ! they're all available on troy wagner's personal website! (along with other goodies that are periodically available!) you can buy them either physically Or digitally ! personally I'd recommend digital, as it's cheaper, instantly available, and the digital extras are wonderful!
they come with the script for the comics, a commentary version (including comments from troy and jackie on every page), and other extras like backgrounds, behind the scenes sketches, character art, etc!
I would very much so suggest buying the comics if you're interested. this is an indie project being ran and funded by two people (and again! there's other goodies in the store that are worth looking at). buttttttt, my friends may dm me <3
.
Extras! [Extras]
Anniversary streams [Link] on a few different anniversaries for the series several of the creators have done streams rewatching the series and reacting to it live ! this is a playlist where I've collected all of the instances that I could find :>
I Also included the dvd commentary here ! the format is different, but it's a similar concept so, why not ljkfsdajklfasd
.
Interviews, QnA's, and con appearances: [Link] exactly what it sounds like !
I was, at one point, overtaken by some kind of madness and hunted down for every single Person Records Marble Hornets Creators Talking About Marble Hornets thing I could find, and then attempted to put it in order. this is just ! for fun. I do so adore it though, I have one con panel that was recorded on someone's 3ds.
.
My silly posts:
some analysis posts I've main on my main account since having watched the series ! these all contain spoilers so I wouldn't suggest watching them until you've seen the show (though I Would suggest reading them if you do choose to watch the explained series)
this is my post going into what I think masky is supposed to be/represent, and why it's Important [Link] which I think pairs nicely with this post by tim sutton (one of marble hornet's actors) [Link]
my discussions on jay's mental health and behavior and how they're often misunderstood (which won't necessarily be needed if you've read through his twitter jlkfasdlkjafds) [Link 1, Link 2]
confirmation that jay is canonically queer :> [Link]
.
Social Media
Social media for various marble hornets creatives !
Troy wagner (co-creator, actor for jay): Tumblr [Link] Twitter [Link] Instagram [Link]
Jackie Reynolds (main artist for the comics): Tumblr [Link] Twitter [Link] Instagram [Link] Linktree [Link]
Tim Sutton (actor for tim (I know)): Tumblr (inactive): [Link] Twitter: [Link]

One thing that has always interested me is Tim finding out about the marble hornets channel
(Other than the fact that it’s a really cool and interesting detail to add and makes the story feel more real)
I’m more interested in how did Tim watch those videos
Like, did Tim skim through them
Or did he just watch them completely
Did he have a bucket of popcorn to his side while watching it

my obsession with creepypasta content is wild. when i was a kid, i convinced my friend that creepypastas were real and we'd each pick one to "date." my friend picked BEN, and i picked Jeff (of course). i scared my friends whenever they came over, convincing them slenderman was in my window, just out of sight. made a lot of girls cry.
after i got out of that phase, i entered the more regular fanfiction xreader phase. similar, but i stopped pretending to make out with Jeff. i moved on from Jeff to the Jacks. yes, both Eyeless and Laughing. i think my love for clowns started here...
it wasn't long until i found the marble hornets characters, hoodie and masky, but i didn't know that. i just considered them normal creepypastas, i never watched the youtube videos until years later.
i always held onto the idea that Slenderman might one day take me far from home to the Slender Mansion where i could live happily... with a bunch of murderous monsters.
once i stopped reading an unhealthy amount of [insert pasta character] x readers, i began to actually give a crap about the stories. i owned a notebook (which i drew EJ on the cover of) and filled it with wiki entries of the characters i liked the most.
after that, it gets blurry. i think i stopped being so obsessive about creepypasta, focusing more on... other things cough sans the flipping skeleton cough.
now, i'm constantly reminded how much i love creepypasta. i have forgotten ocs i'm gonna spend stupid amounts of time rewriting. i've found old drawings that sparked my interest in drawing again.
it's honestly silly - a lot of my creative projects stem from creepypasta.
anyways - off to bed i go.

Okay, here's a new and improved edition of what Fear / Dread Power I think slenderverse characters would be most influenced by, and potentially become avatars of. I'm going to list it by series and character, and try to give decent explanations for each. Also, some characters will have two listed, and this is generally a "and/or" scenario. They could potentially fit either one, so I list both. A lot of what I said in my last version of this will be reiterated, but some of my views have changed and I also just want to write it better.
Also not every character is going to be here, only the ones I've thought about. Anyways, onto it:
Marble Hornets:
Jay: I think Jay is tied to the hunt. In the past, I said that Jay was eye-aligned, but after thinking some more about it, what does Jay do through most of the series? He runs after people, tries to get to them over and over again, and gets erratic extremely quickly when he's left on his own and doesn't have a lead. He is always following after someone. I think he absolutely has eye qualities too, but I think his main drive would come from the hunt.
Tim: Tim I think would be Desolation aligned. I've seen a lot of Spiral headcanons, and I do understand them, but Tim's whole thing is to burn bridges and constantly start anew, as many times as he has to. I could see the interpretation that he's a very unwilling person who has been touched by the Spiral, however.
Alex: This guy is end-aligned, and I will die on this hill. I do not think he is slaughter aligned, and I do not think he is hunt aligned. Alex's entire character revolves not around violence, not around the chase, but by the inevitability that it all needs to end for everything to stop. People only need to die in his mind because of the spread of the Operator, and thus it comes from needing a finality, needing everything to finally end. When he is killed, right before he dies he doesn't say anything about being angry, or trying to strike at Tim again. He accepts it, and he simply tells Tim to end his own life, (mostly) completing Alex's mission to completely kill off the spread.
[The Operator / Slenderman is, in my view, a mix of the Eye and the Spiral. I'm sure you can imagine why this is. Also, I'm not sure where I stand on Brian and Jessica, so they don't have their own entries. I think Brian could be Stranger aligned, and Jessica could maybe be Lonely aligned?]
-
EverymanHYBRID:
Vinny: Is it even a question? Vinny is eye-aligned. He is the Voyeur, he watches people and what they do to see what will happen next. He started off with good intentions, before it slowly devolved in him just keeping tabs on everything, while still being convinced that he's the good guy because he has to be.
Evan: I think Evan would be most marked by the slaughter, though possibly not enough to become an avatar. He does have an affinity with weapons, gore flicks and slasher films, and he's also the quickest to fly into a rage and attack whatever the threat around them is, taking charge and becoming willing to get violent if it means protecting others.
Jeff: Jeff is a tricky one, but I think he'd be Buried. Jeff has been traumatized by fire- by the desolation. His entire life is marked by sudden, tragic loss, and he is the Guardian who only wants to protect people. He would try his best to hold people in, hold them close and try to figure everything out, but is ultimately manipulated by HABIT to go to Evan's house, when he really should have run away.
Steph: Steph, I think, would be desolation. Her life was also marked by loss, but instead by things that represent the Buried; floods, drowning, and constant pressure. She would lean into acts of loss to let things go, like when she burned down her own house. I think Steph and Jeff in this scenario would be counterparts, both marked by the opposite fear, and leaning into opposite things.
HABIT: This guy is the web. He manipulates the story, often in the background, to get things to go his way. He lies, he pushes people to their limits using whatever information he can, and he can get people to do whatever he wants if he knows how to push their buttons. Yes, he likes violence and death and everything, but I think that's moreso just a flavoring to his much deeper, more long-term intentions, which is control. Honestly, I think in an AU, since the Web is said to be the only sentient Fear, I think HABIT could be the web itself.
[Vinny, being an Eye avatar, was able to be easily manipulated by someone who controls what you can see or proceed to do, as well as telling him that he's good no matter what he does, that he just wants to save people while he's being voyeuristic. Vinny and Evan have conflict because one just wants to stand back and watch, the other is a go-getter and wants to get shit done. Steph and Jeff, at first, also naturally dislike each other because they're near perfect opposites, but this eventually becomes complementary.]
-
MLAndersen0:
Michael: Michael is the Buried, and/or possibly the Corruption. Michael wants to keep everybody close, but doesn't really have a plan of what to do after that. He's afraid of being manipulated, of being lied to, of not being trusted, and all he wants is connection and safety. So, he draws people in, but doesn't really know what to do after that point besides huddle around in a sort of metaphorical "bunker," and hope everything works out. He does not like risk, he does not like leaving the safety net he desperately needs, and he is terrified of being left on his own, making him a little ""clingy,"" but for entirely understandable reasons.
Shaun: Shaun is the Dark, and/or possibly the Vast. Shaun is afraid of the truth, so she does not face it. She hides behind a veneer that would look very similar to someone who is Eye aligned, but it's only out of fear and denial. She is canonically afraid of the dark. She is distant, she doesn't get emotionally close to people and is very closed up in terms of talking about anything personal, as though she could be in a room next to you, but feels like she's miles away. Shaun is terrified of the unknown, of what would happen if she accepted everything, if she went with Michael, if she listened to Patrick. She likes to be alone, to drift, and eventually, likes representing that distance and unknown within herself, through the two fears.
Patrick: Patrick is the Stranger. A lot of his appeal comes from pretending to be Michael when it's convenient, and you never know which one it is unless they tell you. He has a big personality and is very hyperbolic, but some of that is just for show. He likes to put on a performance, an act, to try to steer things into a favorable outcome. He is afraid of getting close to the others, thinking he'll only be rejected in the future.
[Shaun's fear alignment is nearly opposite to Michael's, so he has a hard time understanding her. They get into frequent conflict over opposing needs and views, and they both have utterly petrifying fears of things that the other represents. Michael has agoraphobia (fear of big open spaces), and Shaun has claustrophobia (fear of tight spaces).
I think Michael and Shaun are victims of both the eye and the spiral, but in very different ways. Shaun is much more afraid of exposure, of knowing, of the truth, and so she is its ideological opposite (the dark). Her fear of the spiral isn't entirely realized, and it's much more metaphorical; I think she's terrified of not being normal, and of being "crazy," so she tries to repress and imitate normality. It shows through as her repressing mental illness, which only takes her down a darker path (pun intended.) Michael meanwhile I think was more directly affected by the Spiral, and is much less afraid of the eye compared to Shaun. Everything about him has already been ripped apart and exposed by doctors. He's much more afraid of being misled, of being lied to, and other more direct manifestations of the spiral, but he might still have a bit of fear in regards to being watched or eye imagery.
Stormy and Eric don't have a lot of characterization, but if I had to give them anything, I think Stormy would be Lonely aligned (hid in her apartment, seemed scared to open up or talk to people but still wanted human connection, isolation from the institutionalization. also she kinda reminds me of martin lol.), and Eric would be Spiral aligned (he literally uses someone's mental illness against them, like we see Spiral-aligned doctors do to a patient later on in TMA, in season 5. he would gladly gaslight you and tell you you're insane to make you incredibly disoriented and confused. he has done this before, in fact.)]

I have decided to break my vow of silence
I need to tell you guys about Carnage Obscured.
Tumblr media
Guys... this is the Creepypasta comic dub series that I always wanted. My opening statement will be that if this had existed a year ago, I might not have felt the need to make my own creepypasta comic.
Almost everything I wanted to achieve in my own series is also being achieved in theirs. They portray Toby's Tourettes better, and in a way that was VERY similar to how I planned to portray some of his tics.
Tumblr media
Not to mention the overall vibe and artstyle. The obvious inspirations from I Eat Pasta For Breakfast
Tumblr media
The fact that Marble Hornets is LITERALLY CANON to all of this! Just LOOK at this panel!
Tumblr media
LOOK AT IT!
So you already know that their Tim is more faithful to the series as well.
Tumblr media
Look at the facial haaair
They also have pretty appealing OC design
Tumblr media
Loving the vibe of this one.
and did I mention they have THEIR OWN FRIGGIN SOUNDTRACK!?!?!?!?
youtube
THEY GOT A FULL ON INTRO TOO
AND SCENE TRANSITIONS THAT ARE REMINISCENT OF THE ADULT SWIM BUMPERS!!!!
Tumblr media
This is... honestly kind of emotional for me. This is almost everything I wanted for this community. It understands it's vibe, the source material, no, it actually really LIKES the source material and is making something super cool from it. The subtle references to both creepypasta and the slenderverse, the implementation of Rosswood park and the worldbuilding is... it's everything I wanted to bring in by continuing the story of Lazari.
I'm so glad this exists. It really shows you the true power of a community where the content is soully made by fans of the content itself.
I hope I can do the same with Hollowtown
Now... GO WATCH AND READ IT! IF YOU LIKED MY LAZARI STUFF CHANCES ARE YOU'LL LIKE THIS TOO
youtube
AND FOLLOW @frutigerangel
also, I discovered this series through a deep dive of Creepypasta comic dubs as a whole, a video I also recommend and... dude... Im in the video. Like for a split second, but Im in the video in the IEPFB rewrite portion! Here's a link to the video by @sp00kywashere while im here.
