Also wild I accidentally over shared with a customer earlier that my mother disappeared to Central America and that as a child there was a solid 2 years where all sides of my family United because my mother was planning to run off with my brother and I and just go and live in the middle of nowhere in Mexico. Like no plan no income no home. Just take her kids and wing it in a dangerous place
#worth reminding this is very far away like we r from London U.K.?????#also when I say dangerous like . that’s not a generalisation#my mother just has a habit of drawing dangerous people around and living a risky life in risky places#and straight up planned to just throw us all into that#I remember telling my friends at school I was going to move to Mexico#cos it was framed as a fun thing#then they claimed I was a bullshitter when it never materialised#and I only found out in the past year or so being closer with my dad#that it was a genuine concern#and the only time in my life all my family were in contact#cos everyone had to keep their eyes peeled just in case#this was following the time she disappeared with us to the middle of nowhere in Germany#when there was extreme snow#and we were staying in a dilapidated watermill#with no roof on it#with some strange hippy man#who built a sweat lodge in the garden#and I also had to partake in sweat lodge ceremonies#which is more traumatic than it sounds#and for fun my brother and I would wade thru half frozen streams#and climb old watch towers#sorry I’m having a weird trauma dump moment#my childhood was a bit mad to say the least#also the ayhuasca ceremony at the bottom of Glastonbury tor#that was not a good night#lots of throwing up to say the least#I’m currently a bit numb can u tell

ive seen people make a lot of generalisations, so I wanted to say this about system stuff :
· alters who are under 18 in adult bodies aren't literal children and a lot don't have the same maturity or act like children, they don't need to be hidden just because of their age
(^ also note that agesliders, ageless, and alters with unknown ages exist. some hosts could be under 18 as well)
· listing front triggers isn't necessarily harmful unless they are negative or you have alters who shouldnt front
(^ we are an osdd-1b system so we have no memory amnesia, we remember all switches. there's also no alter in our system who is dangerous or whatever, so triggering any of us to front is fine)
· not everyone is vulnerable to being taken advantage of. I hear people say "bad people will target you for this!!" a lot, but some people just literally don't care enough to get manipulated by someone online
(^ I'm definitely not saying you shouldn't stay safe, but as a protector with like no empathy who is pretty apathetic, it just annoys me that people assume everyone can get manipulated online when I just don't care about people)
· in a similar vain, people saying "don't list your trauma holders." I know that many trauma holders are vulnerable or triggered easily, but again, not all are.
(^ our main trauma holder also has no empathy and is mostly apathetic. he does not care and is not vulnerable to anything people online could do)
Now, I am well aware that not all systems are the same and that some of these things are necessary for some systems, but just do what's best for you and your system

I just want to clarify that I've read your posts and your answers to questions and I agree wholeheartedly with your assessment of the situation, my reblog is only meant to bring more information into the dialogue and point out the racism and microaggressions taking place while using your animal conservation as a shield.
I realized once I posted my reblog it may seem like I am targeting you specifically I am not, as screenshotting the amount of discrimination I have been weeding through ever since this post has enraged me as someone from a "lesser developed country" myself.
I wish you well in your endeavors, and I'm sorry your well intended message is being hijacked by racists.
Hi thank you for reaching out! Looking back I would definitely have re-wrote that post and definitely do some more research before posting it.
I do see some really nice habitats there too and I know that there is a genuine care for the animals despite the questionable handling - I didn't want to imply that the reason for the poor handling was purely because of country, poor welfare happens regardless of country, even with animal welfare laws in place.
Sub cultures and cultures with the zoo itself are usually what I've found to be the most detrimental to welfare. When I was brought in to help improve welfare and training for marine mammals in two different facilities - one in the Pacific Islands and another in a "western" modern facility - both places had their own major issues with lack of education/up to date knowledge, relience on outdated practises and cliques that formed as a front against any attempt to change things.
This was quite surprising to me considering the company I worked for in the western facility definitely had the resources and the money but had simply gotten stagnant and stuck in the "this is how we always do it."
The facility in the Pacific stagnated because of the culture too - but lack of resources and consistent funding was a huge factor in attempting to improve things (I had to buy enrichment for the animals out of my own pocket so that was fun lol)
So I guess what I'm trying to say is that the post was never suppoed to be implicating the fact that the zoo was in Thailand for the reason for poor handling.
And, you can see on my blog, I have been singing the praises of multiple facilities in Asia. I'm highly critical of any intense handling of exotic animals, especially in the US. When autonomy and the ability to leave the interaction is taken away for an animal, the interaction is more likely to become dangerous or cause stress to the animal.
But anyway I appreciate you letting me know your thoughts and I do not support any of the people leaving any sort of racist generalisation about South East Asia on that post. Especially because it is tourists coming in from western countries that are some of the biggest drivers for animal welfare issues in Thailand - such as the Tiger Temple.
If westerners were truly so "englightened" on animal welfare, there would be no profit gained from tourists participating in unethical animal experiences. But its not exactly shocking to see this, especially from Americans, who also actively participate in exploitation of exotic animals in their own country (the exotic pet trade is a nightmare there).
Anyway culture and people are complex and so are perceptions of animal welfare - thank you again for sharing your thoughts!

I had this post on my drafts for months ngl and I think with everything that's happening (and to not let it rot on the drafts) it should be shared
----
With the Lando hate train going on, and many other hate trains, I feel like there's some things that need to be said related to fandom and hate culture in general, this is not only about Lando and it applies to any driver
It's very valid to dislike, lose respect, and/or hate a driver to some degree, but death wishes, including wishing for a serious crash and general hate speech is NOT OKAY in any way
There's some very valid stuff to hate about a driver, but not all things they do are valid to hate, for instance many of their actions are reasonable and not properly wrong, I'm talking for example about when they complain on the radio when they're genuinely struggling with the car
It's okay for people to like a driver you dislike and it's okay for people to dislike a driver you like, don't harass fans for having opinions different than yours
Refrain from using isolated quotes or sentences from drivers to base all your mindless hating but also defending, context matters like the question they were answering, what they said before and/or after, try to understand the situation in a wilder angle before making assumptions and spreading misinformation
Avoid generalising actions, the drivers are human beings, and humans are very complex, only bc they did/said something shitty once, that doesn't mean all they do is always with malicious intent
I know we are on a time where media impressions are so absolutely central that it's normal to question the motives behind some statements, but that's doesn't mean they are all done with manipulative intent, yes we can never be sure but that also means that we aren't sure if it was truly a pr manipulative move
Try to not claim that you know for sure the true intentions of a driver when its not disclosed and the comment/action itself is very dubious and/or not very serious, you can guess it but you shouldn't go around saying that what you think is the factual truth, you don't know them personally and what is going on on their heads, a comment you may feel like it was made with ill intent, could have been done very innocently and naively. I'm not saying that it always happens however at least try to consider that it may be a possibility
Don't go overanalysing and dissecting a driver's every action and words with the purpose of only finding things to hate on them, not only is quite disrespectful it's frankly borderline obsessive and creepy
If you want to truly hate, there's specific places where you can do it, but don't let it bled to spaces like Twitter and Instagram comments, places where most drivers (like Lando) are very present and can see not only the hate directed to them but also the hate directed to other drivers. This also include spaces where drivers' close ones can see the hate, mentioning in particular Max F's twitch chat.
But be aware that if you're hating/speaking ill about a driver on a social media platform there may be people that can get uncomfortable with it and block you as they should. DO NOT make it personal or weoponize it, they have every right to block you if they feel uncomfortable and dont want to see your content
Lasty if you ever feel like your mental health is in stake bc of f1, turn it off and give it a break, your mental health shouldn't dependent on some drivers that don't even know you, its okay to feel this way but it's imo unfair to blame on a driver for their performance when theyre simply doing their job and doing their best
On a final note all the drivers have done something shitty and/or had shitty attitudes at some point but many people are clouded by judgement and mindless hate some drivers without acknowledging (and refusing to) that their faves also did things wrong, please avoid doing this, not only its very hypocritical but its quite a dangerous mentality of "My fave cant do any wrong" that can easily be translated to day to day life, try to be critical on serious situations, and hold ALL drivers accountable for things they said/done, not just the ones you personally feel to! You will come across as quite hypocritical if you just select a few drivers and not hold anything accountable to others (especially if they're your faves) and in the long run is not a very good look
To sum up just practice basic human decency, this is mostly my take of view so take it with a grain of salt if it pleases you so. This applies to any driver and I'll add more if I find other things to say. To any new fans out there the only thing I ask you is to try to educate yourself before jumping into any hate train, give yourself a chance to form an opinion and then see which part or side of the community you relate most, don't let others dictate your opinion.
#formula 1#f1#f1blr#lando norris#max verstappen#sergio perez#zhou guanyu#logan sargeant#daniel ricciardo#oscar piastri#carlos sainz#george russell#esteban ocon#lance stroll#lewis hamilton#yuki tsunoda#franco colapinto#< tagged the drivers which I see the most hate online#if Im missing someone pls tell me and I'll add them#this is literally a take on how to hate “politely” bc I think a lot of people need to learn it#I've seen many disgusting things online and I think it mainly comes from people thinking they're entitled to do so#still this is from my opinions and experiences so if you dont particularly agree I dont blame you#pat.txt

It is true that many characters demonstrated inherited prejudices towards werewolves and Snape wouldn’t be too different - but I do find it a bit disappointing for people to think that systematically stalking someone with the intention of ousting them is a knee-jerk reaction coming from a generalised societal prejudice. Maybe it’s trying to over justify and defend Snape’s actions, which to me were more motivated by his hatred of the Marauders, and later, fear and trauma of being exposed to a transformed werewolf?
We can bring up Molly, but we can also bring up people like Hermione, Harry, and Dean Thomas. Hermione worked out his secret and didn’t feel the need to freak out and expose him. Dean Thomas leaned later he had been taught by a werewolf and quickly and unprompted jumped to defend him in front of Umbridge. Harry immediately felt sympathy when confronted with the reality of Lupin’s condition, even when exposed to its scary and dangerous side. Even Ron, who had what I’d call a knee-jerk reaction, got over himself pretty quickly.
It’s just a bit wet to be like “well everyone was shit about it, so Snape is forgiven for being shit about it”. Not everyone was shit about it.
Does it make Snape look better to think that most students would be outraged to find out there’s a werewolf amongst them? I like to think some students, if they worked out, much like Harry and Hermione would see the person first and not get super weird about it.
I think you are severely underestimating the level of bigotry the Wizarding World has against werewolves - as well as the social climate at the time the Marauders were at school.
What you suggests breaks Remus' character in terms of the choices he makes, the sheer weight of his friends keeping his secret, Dumbledores actions to support him (and the implications of Severus' unwilling but dedicated silence for 18 years)... and are missing the point of why SPECIFICALLY Harry, Hermione and Dean are the ones most defensive and supportive of Remus.
It's not me trying to justify Severus' actions. I don't need to justify Severus, he can be a petty little ass. (Though the trust breaking of him finding out Dumbledore is protecting a werewolf makes the "fuck yall 'good guys' I'm going all in on rebuilding wizarding society" element of his character enriched.)
It's me spending WAY too long combing through the books to intricately understand REMUS' situation. It's for HIM - not Severus.
This is all SUPER fresh in my mind because I'm working on a part 7 of a massive, huge, too-big Lycanthropy meta, so uh... I went nuts:
+ Harry, Hermione and Dean were ALL raised by Muggles. No shit they are more accepting and sympathetic, especially when their first interaction with a werewolf is their lovely teacher. They have no cultural point of reference. It wasn't random to make Dean Thomas, of any side-character, stand up for Remus. Not Neville, not Seamus, not Lavender, not the Patil sisters.
Even then - + Hermione felt conflicted in keeping his secret but gave him the benefit of the doubt. Evidently, though, she had read how awful werewolves are and just didn't want to believe it. "he wants you dead too -- he's a werewolf!" "If I'd been a bit cleverer, I'd have told everyone what you are!"
+ Ron reacted with immediate revulsion towards Remus. "Get away from me, werewolf!" He didn't call him Professor, or Lupin, or even just leave it at 'get away from me'... he see's him as an animal. And he only got over it when Remus spent ages explaining himself, his past, his intentions - and proved his rat was a 33yr old man.
+ Harry is one of VERY FEW characters that actually treats Remus as a human being. Who else... Arthur, Albus, Tonks - possibly Dean... + Hermione directly compares his situation to that of House-Elves and says 'Wizards think themselves better than other creatures'. Remus is a Wizard, not a different Being, Beast or Part-Human - he is just disabled. She often accidentally does the exact things she wants to fight against: not listening to the voices of House-Elves and 'othering' werewolves as not-quite-human. “But you are normal!” said Harry fiercely. “You’ve just got a — a problem —” Even Remus' friends weren't as good as Harry is: + James is flippant with the fact Remus was a werewolf, even when Remus asked him to be careful - and his entire theme is that Harry is a better man than him. + Sirius treated Remus as a point of interest, wishing it was the Full Moon so he didn't have to be bored - regardless of how painful it is for Remus to endure - and at the first sign of there being a mole suspected Remus without proof. + Peter stood with James and Sirius in ignoring Remus' concerns, even when James and Sirius were more openly nasty to him.
+ "...out of bounds, at night, consorting with a werewolf and a murderer..." Snape says to the Minister of Magic, about equal weighting put on 'Murderer' and 'Werewolf'. Even though that 'Werewolf' was Harry's teacher, the fact Harry KEPT consorting with him after finding out he was a werewolf is whats damning. And the Minister just nods his head, agreeing.
+ "I’ve made her an outcast! ... You have only ever seen me amongst the Order, or under Dumbledore’s protection at Hogwarts! You don’t know how most of the Wizarding world sees creatures like me! When they know of my affliction, they can barely talk to me!" Remus wasn't being hyperbolic here. It's all true. Tonks IS an outcast now - she had to run from the Ministry. Wizarding society utterly detests werewolves.
+ Even as a little boy his parents had to move house every few months when their neighbours started to notice Remus not being allowed to play with other kids, getting ill on the Full Moons. There was no sympathy even for a 5yr old if he was a 5yr old werewolf. Remus grew up having to run away at the first sign of suspicion. It's sorta shocking how relentless it is in the books - I'm doing a meta on Lycanthropy, here's Part 2 where I go through how society seems to act and how Remus feels
'Does it make Snape look better to think that most students would be outraged to find out there’s a werewolf amongst them?' Better...? He is just correct. It makes him look NORMAL. It makes him look petty and irresponsible, really, that he didn't go to teachers first. But he was a 15/16yr old used to not getting any help. + Even LILY treated accusing Remus of Lycanthropy as a deathly serious accusation. It was terrible and ridiculous to even think of. "I know your theory,” said Lily, and she sounded cold.
Why do you think that more than a small handful of students would not act with prejudice if Remus was exposed as a werewolf...? Even if students and staff stood beside Remus, as they had known him for years - why that would matter in the face of Parents, General Society and Ministry persecution?
Especially during the dawn of the First Wizarding War???
Fenrir Greyback, the most savage werewolf alive, was biting CHILDREN to amass an army in the Death Eaters service. Death Eaters were on the rise, getting more violent. Secretive - nobody knew who they were, where they had infiltrated. Casting the Dark mark over peoples houses when they had killed their families. Getting Giants to kill more Muggles than in any point in history. Armies of inferi - dead family, friends and muggles they murdered being reanimated to fight the living... One of them, one of Greybacks children - is in HOGWARTS. One of the safest places in the Wizarding World is compromised. That's how it would be seen! That's essentially how it was seen even 13 years later - being outed to the public destroyed Remus.
...We, as readers, know more about werewolves than general Wizarding society does. Especially Wizarding children who only get some lessons on how dangerous they are and how to kill them.
+ If you listen to Pottermore, which fair enough if you don't - there are books published such as Prof. Emerett Picardy's 'Lupine Lawlessness: Why Lycanthropes Don't Deserve to Live', which state things such as 'werewolves permanently lack moral sense'. Misinformation is rampant. Murdering werewolves is acceptable. When werewolf-sympathetic books are published its done so with anonymous authors because they fear backlash.
You might 'like to think that students who found out wouldn't get super weirded out by it'. But I just don't think that's realistic. And even if there was a massive Hogwarts-wide cultural shift in the perception of werewolves just because Remus was 'a pretty nice lad' - it would mean little. We SEE it meaning little: Everyone likes Remus as a teacher and it meant jack shit. Werewolves were in a worse position socially, not a better one, after Remus was a teacher.

Harad Through Fandom Eyes
Plenty of people acknowledge that LOTR's Haradrim, Easterlings and Variags are racist. However, I've seen less discussion about how fandom adds even more racism into the mix. This seems to be mostly because many people have very little knowledge about West Asia and North Africa, aka WANA [Why say WANA/SWANA instead of Middle East?] and what anti-WANA racism looks like.
I'm going to focus on Harad because this is the region that we know the most about. If you need a brief refresher:
Harad, or Haradwaith, is the region south of Gondor. There's a long history of violence between Harad and Gondor which dates back beyond Gondor even existed, to when Numenorians colonised Harad and repressed the people. Since then there were multiple wars and for long periods of time Gondor occupied parts of Harad. The Haradrim fight for Sauron in LoTR, partially due to their hatred of Gondor.
Harad is divided into two. Near Harad is strongly North Africa coded, and Far Harad is sub-Saharan Africa coded.
(Image description in alt text.)
Tolkien uses multiple different names to refer to the people of Harad (Haradrim, Southrons, Swertings, etc.) However, these seem to be the people of Near Harad, who he differentiates from the people of Far Harad. (There's some serious anti-blackness in this next quote, so skip over it if you need to. I only put it here as evidence that the use of Haradrim/Southrons in LOTR refers to Near Haradrim.)
[...] Easterlings with axes, and Variags of Khand, Southrons in scarlet, and out of Far Harad black men like half-trolls with white eyes and red tongues. - Return of the King
There is more to say on this than I would be able to fit into this post. There's a discussion to be had about Tolkien's textual and real life relationship with Black people. There's also a discussion that needs to be had about how Tolkien's racism is often excused with the idea that he was a 'benevolent' or well-meaning racist, a product of his time. It's an excuse that ignores the violence of quotations like this and the way that he wielded his whiteness against Black people in academia and writing.
I don't have time or space for those discussions in this post, but I want to acknowledge them.
What I want to discuss here is fandom portrayals of Haradrim. I'm not going to talk too much about the in-text racism, because that has been extensively covered elsewhere. But in summary:
The idea of the good white guys conquering the lesser brown 'Men of Darkness' is inherently racist
Tolkien's description of the Haradrim, such as repeatedly describing them as a cruel and warlike people, is also racist
The one paragraph where Samwise feels empathy for a dead Haradrim soldier does not lessen the racism.
With that out of the way, let's talk about fandom.
There's a gaping void in the information we're given about the Haradrim, so of course fandom attempts to fill the gaps. Fans often take inspiration from WANA. But many fans don't actually know that much about WANA and don't realise how much of their perception of it is based on racist and imperialist propaganda.
In fannish depictions, Harad all too frequently becomes an exotified fantasy that pulls from Western perceptions of WANA. Orientalist ideals of a mystical, magical, and yet dangerous place predominate the fannish idea of Harad.
The first thing that you should know about WANA is that it's an extremely culturally, religiously and geographically diverse place. If your depiction of Harad is entirely desert, or made of a culturally homogenous people with a narrow range of skin tones and features, you need to expand that. Equally, depictions of Harad as more 'socially backward' than other areas of Middle Earth stem directly from racist propaganda.
Too many stories write Harad as misogynistic and homophobic, often in direct contrast to other areas of Middle Earth. As many WANA people have pointed out, these kinds of sweeping generalisations are often specifically targeted at WANA because of racism.
Mysterious cursed objects from the 'far away lands of Harad', decadent sultans, the fetishization of cultural practices like belly dancing; these are all forms of Orientalism. Female characters may be sexualised, shown as seductresses or members of harems. (By the way, Westerners tend to have a very incorrect understanding of what harems actually are/were. They were the part of a Muslim household reserved for women and pre-pubescent boys. It was outsiders who perceived them as fundamentally sexual spaces and created the modern tropes of sexual harems.)
Male characters may be violent, cunning, greedy, dangerous and strange. There may be public executions and enslaved peoples, regardless of the complete absence of a textual basis. All of these things stem directly from racist ideas of WANA as 'barbaric' and 'uncivilised'.
In fact, Haradrim were once enslaved by Numenorians. They were victims of violent colonisation that continued into the days of Gondor. They have every reason to hate the 'Men of the West' and fight against them.
On a final note, the most major and dangerous WANA stereotype is the portrayal of WANA people as terrorists. This isn't a trope seen in Tolkien's works because it's primarily a post-911 phenomenon. But it's something that you must be conscious of if you're writing about Harad or other WANA-coded regions.

could u do the reader is high or drunk and xavier’s been looking for her. he finds her and he takes care of her and readers clingy and keeps apologising for worrying him
A/n: the depiction of the reader being high in this fic isn’t the over all experiences of someone who smokes weed as the effects of weed differs from person to person. I’m only adding this here to reinstate that this fic isn’t meant to be taken as an generalisation of weed consumption.
And yes I don’t know much about weed consumption because I’ve never tried before (I wouldn’t know where to begin even if I did.) so try not to take the depiction so seriously because at the end of the day. It’s just a fic.
Xavier is an worrier through and through but this trait of his only got worse when you were involved in anything he perceived as remotely dangerous. So much so that it’s no wonder that a lot of people would’ve liked to believe that he’d have you in bubble wrap 24/7. Tracker chip and all.
So when he near enough had a close encounters with a full blow panic when he couldn’t find you anywhere on school grounds before bolting up to your dorm, flinging open the door only to be met with the strong smell of weed and you laying flat on your back upon your bed, staring up at the ceiling as your eyes darted here there and everywhere with childlike wonder as though you were seeing something he wasn’t.
Marijuana induced hallucinations. He assumed.
Still Xavier was happy to have found you somewhere safer then the likes of a hallway or outside in the depths of the forest somewhere. Xavier gently sat himself down on the edge of your bed as to not freak you out and gently tap a finger on the back of your hand.
You would’ve startled but fascinated at the fact that whatever you were seeing floating/ moving before you somehow managed to gain corporeal essence and actually grab you but once you found your solace in Xavier’s hazel eyes, a smile broke out on your face.
“Xavi.” You greeted.
“You nearly had me scared to death y/n. Nobody I knew could say where you were and I was looking for you all over school.” Xavier said as he tightened his hold on your hand. The whole Hyde situation didn’t ease the fear clenching his heart and the idea that there might’ve been the smallest of chances that you could’ve gotten hurt by that thing only made fear grip his heart all that more harder.
You blinked once, then twice, then three times before they furrow hard in concentration at his words before yours instinctually started to well up out of seemingly nowhere, “I’m sorry baby, I didn’t meant to worry you. I tried to text you but that nasty bitch goblin looking mother fucker took it from me.” You then flipped the middle finger to the corner of your room where Xavier assumes this ‘nasty bitch goblin’ was holding your phone hostage when it was on the charging port beside your bed on your desk, but he chose not to say anything about it because you were just too adorable.
“It’s alright baby, now that I know that your okay, all is forgiven. I just over reacted like I always did so I should apologise also for being overbearing due to everything going on recently.” Xavier said, scratching the back of his neck sheepishly but was taken aback when you crawled into his lap and cuddled yourself into his chest, squeezing him like he was a overgrown teddy bear. “I’m sorry for making you worry, I’m sorry, I’m sorry, I’m sorry, I’m sorry.” You chanted into his collar bone. Tightening your grip on his purple hoodie as though he’d slip through your grasp.
“It’s okay baby,” Xavier whispered into your head as he prepped kisses there whilst keeping you close to him as he leant back onto your bed, “no need to apologise.” You were beginning to feel drowsy/fatigued and a little clinger then usual as you buried your head into the crook of Xavier’s neck, hiding your face from view. “I’m sorry.” You said tiredly. “Hi tired, I’m Xavier.” Xavier immediately responds with that made you chuckle a little at his penchant for really, really bad jokes and or puns on par with a middle aged dad.
“Stop, I mean it, I’m sorry for making you worry.” You whined, attempting to hide your smile but it didn’t work when Xavier moved his head and some of his hair that helped aid in covering you from sight. “No my cover!” You gasped aloud when you felt your face being exposed to the light within your room. “You traitor.” You pointed to Xavier’s hair as he only smiled at your pouting look of betrayal.
“I’m sure my hair apologises but your starting to look kinda sleepy, do you want me tuck you into bed and get you something to eat for when you wake up?” Xavier asked and you burrowed yourself in foggy thought for a while before squeaking out your reply. “Yes please.”
“Alright, hop into bed then.” He told you as he then watched as you departed from him to crawl under the covers and the moment your head presses against the pillow, it became gradually harder for you to keep your eyes open. “Get some sleep, I’ll be back soon.” Xavier said as he pressed a kiss to your forehead. “Okay, again I’m sorry for making you worry.” You say softly as Xavier sighs. “I’d rather worry my head off about you then not for it tells me that feelings for you are still as strong as they were when I frost saw you.”
He then got up and turned to leave, though not before looking back towards your bed one more time to see you soundly asleep.

About the election and modern society’s woes -
First off, I don’t really know what to think about Joe Biden dropping out of the election. His speech was lackluster, n I wasn’t blown away by but it didn’t feel like it made the world crash around me either.
Sadly, so many folks out there can only think two ways u either love or hate something. This goes for Biden too. They think if I hate trump, i sump to automatically worship Biden. There’s no in between. It floors me that this lack of logic exists. These folks cannot fathom that u can simply be ok with a person. He’s ok to me. He didn’t do anything super mind blowing impressive, but he’s not bad either.
Now, getting back to the election - so many others thought differently. Ok, fine. Whatever. The next problem is, what will u replace him with? Will that be enough to save us from another 4 years of the tyrant? This is our REAL concern. I’ve heard folks celebrating Biden dropping out, but they celebrate too early. I’m not going to celebrate Biden dropping out, because that doesn’t concern me. I do feel he was forced, but I also wish him well. Whatever, this is less important to me.
IM AFRAID OF WHAT WE MAY WIND UP WITH.
At the same time, society (especially on the left admittedly - and I say this being a liberal, because godforbid ur critical of ur own….wing or whatever - ) is filled with -
And whilst this is definitely true, for most folks, that’s it. That’s all they can comprehend, all they can see in the argument, and it becomes a competition. If only it were that simple. Sadly these generalisations are equally dangerous. They employ the same attitude as the ‘there’s no in between’. This is the excuse folks apply when u r uncomfortable with immodesty. They right away think that u want folks covered head to toe in a burqua. (They’d b shocked to learn that some of us r fine with sleeveless tops n shorts, as long as they r like 6 inches above the knee, n tits, bellies, n genitals r covered!) There’s no asking or clarify, no willingness to listen to ur explanation. I get branded racist, misogynist, homophobic, or even worse, because they need to project. U hit a sore spot that they can’t handle. This goes for either side - not just liberal, not just conservative. The truth is that there is often more to the story. Not all women are innocent. Not all r guilty. Not all men r innocent, nor are all guilty either. I’m going to say this louder for those in the back -
ANY GENDER CAN COME INTO POWER AND ABUSE IT.
There has been in increase in a certain petty completion between sexes for ages now, n I’ve seen in for several decades already. One side is like ‘we’re the best n that’s it. They give flimsy, misguided, or sometimes no reasoning behind this. The other then reacts with the same tactics. It makes everyone look foolish. Neither side thinks of common sense nor respect. It’s a very entitled, privileged, and damn right delusional way to think. It’s sadly also an increasing sign of the times. It’s not new, but it’s definitely not going away, and becomes a more mainstream way to think. We ALL need to change for the better. Thank you for coming to me ted talk. Here’s Gordon lol

Witchcraft smp drabble ft: Scott, Pris, El
"Look El, you know I only want the best for you, and I don't want to tell you what to do, but I really think it's dangerous for you to be around him! Don't you see he's evil?"
"Pris, I know you and he have... A rivalry? He torments you a fair bit? But he's nice to me .... mostly. He did lurk outside my house in the shape of a giant monster..."
"See!
"... But that's just Scott you know? And if he is truly as dangerous as you say, then I'm better off being on his good side! I appreciate you caring and trying to help but I've got nothing against Scott. He's playing by the rules..ish ..."
"Stop, stop, don't say his name again!"
"What? He's not a demon! Scott's not going to appear because we say his name three times! Are you alright Pris? You might be a bit high strung, maybe have a rest?"
A fell breeze swept through the clearing and both witches shivered, a brief shimmer caught the corner of El's eye (almost like someone invisible) and she twitched. Of course Scott wouldn't appear if you said his name three times. And he didn't have a spell that let him hear when people were talking about him. Pris was just caught up in thinking the worst. And Pris was talking again ...
"... and you know what they say about necromancers, they either want to own the world or destroy it. They want control! Over death, over life, over day, over night, over US!"
By this point El was rolling her eyes. "Pris! Stop it. Don't generalise. Besides you know there are two types of necromancers. Sure there are some who want to take over the world, but most just... Are fairly fine, they do their thing without hurting anyone sentient, so it's chill."
"What do you mean two types?"
"Those with hope, and those without it"
"Hope?"
"Look Pris, no-one becomes a necromancer because they're happy. They become necromancers to try and bring someone back."
"Back?"
" From the dead Pris!"
" But everyone knows that doesn't work! Dead is dead! There are billions of stories about people trying that and failing! Scott's not an idiot! He's smart enough to know..."
" Every necromancer is smart! They have to be to get as far as they do. But they're also all desperate! They've lost a mother, sibling, lover, heck even pet. They've lost so much they love they would fistfight gods to bring them home!
The two types of necromancer are this... Those with hope of succeeding in bringing a loved one back, and those who have lost hope! And the Evil necromancers from the stories? They are all the second type. Scott's the first.
So no, I don't think he's completely evil, and I'm not going to stop being friends with him. But Pris? Don't go up to him and tell him its impossible to bring whomever he lost back. If he torments you now, you don't want to know what he'd do if he lost hope. And as powerful as he is? I don't think any of us could survive it."
Pris was silent for the first time in quite a while, stunned by El's outburst.
"So now that we're done with that conversation" El continued, after a brief silence, "I'm off. I've got to figure out what to trade with Bertha, now berries are off the table. Bye Pris."
El flew off, and Pris returned sheepishly to her home also, leaving the clearing they were talking in empty, or, appearing empty.
A shimmer in the air, and a dark haired man faded into view, with a thoughtful look in his eye, and a smirk on his face; which would have been handsome, were it not pale as death.
He spoke to the empty clearing " what a time to be testing my bloody Mary spell, an interesting conversation to overhear".
He grinned and disappeared leaving his last sentence to dispell in the empty clearing.
"impossible to bring back the dead? Sweetie you ain't seen nothing yet!"

hi--did the anon who told you that ladyknightthebrave thing have a source for what they said? because when scrolling through ladyknight's blusky account, it's clear that she supports an immediate ceasefire and a free and safe palestine.
she also talks about how anti-semitism in leftist protest spaces is dangerous to jewish people, unhelpful for palestinians, and misdirected overall (i.e., we should instead be criticizing the israeli government and its supporters, not generalizing to all jewish people)
idk I got a few different messages about it from users who claimed to be blocked by her. I can't verify the claims which is why I put allegedly in the edit to my post about her video essay on holocaust cinema because I do find her analysis informative when it comes to Jewish representation and antisemitism. But honestly I just don't like taking my chances, as a Lebanese person, on anyone who supports the existence of Israel, even if that person simultaneously seems to support Palestinian rights. And I'm not generalising all Jewish people. I did a thorough search of her social media after receiving those messages and found no mention of her actually supporting the decolonisation of Palestine. Supporting a ceasefire means almost nothing to me in the same way that someone saying they want to reform the police means almost nothing to me. It's milquetoast and doesn't acknowledge the need for Palestinian, Syrian or Lebanese liberation from Israel's violent occupation of our lands. Calling for a ceasefire isn't even the bare minimum to me because plenty of "liberal" Zionists have called for a ceasefire. The problem is that the mainstream view is that a ceasefire and humanitarian aid is all that's needed. While those 2 things are needed in the immediate, what is truly needed is a full decolonisation of Palestine and returning their sovereignty to them. I mean this honestly: anyone not openly calling for Palestinian liberation and decolonisation may as well be a zionist to me. It's harsh, maybe. But that's what I believe and I believe it of anyone who isn't calling for a decolonisation of Palestine, regardless of who they are or claim to support.

New day, same shit, same fandom
From the moment you come into this fandom one of the first things you learn is that the main "enemy" of BTS is kpoppies or fans of other K-pop groups; what no one tells you and what you have to learn on your own is that Jimin's main enemy is their own fandom.
Generalisations are never good, but for the sake of this conversation, I'll talk about fandom in general with the understanding that not everyone in it thinks or acts this way.
When hickey-gate happened or we learned about it the fandom collectively didn't know how to act. Everyone concluded that what Jungkook had on his neck was really a hickey and that it was Jimin who did it - the reasons each fan believed were different.
That day was funny because everyone, with a few exceptions, couldn't justify what they saw, what Jimin and Jungkook showed us and what they told us, but deep down we know that many didn't like it and were uncomfortable with what it possibly meant. I know and many of us know that many were dying to o7ify that hickey and today in a way they managed to do so.
In today's Wlive Joon clearly had a hickey on his neck, he tried to hide it, downplay it and in the end, gave a not-so-plausible explanation, but that's what he said and we have to respect it, the problem is what happened afterwards or the reaction of the fandom. Their chance to o7ify that moment between Jimin and Jungkook finally came. This time, in the form of " jokes".
Many immediately came out tweeting that that hickey was obviously done by Jimin because we all know he's a biter. Others said that Jimin probably does the same thing to all members or that he has given every member a hickey, that's his thing! Some said. At the end of every tweet or in a different tweet they make the disclaimer that it was all a "joke".
All of us who have been paying attention know of the thousand and one hurtful, offensive and cruel narratives that the subgroup has raised against Jimin, one of them being that Jimin is basically a slut that members pass off on each other and these "jokes" that many are making today only perpetuate that narrative.
It's frustrating how those people don't understand how offensive those "jokes" are and it's frustrating how their arrogance doesn't make them understand why many of us are upset and it's frustrating how they don't understand that those jokes give more validation to the subgroup to keep saying stupid things about Jimin.
Joon at no point mentioned Jimin, but somehow they concluded that it was Jimin who did it to him. It's funny how many in this fandom get offended when someone even hints that another member is lgtbi+ but has no problem joking about Jimin in that context.
It's frustrating how many in this fandom still have this misconception about who Jimin really is and don't understand that Jimin is the most respectful member of BTS. And that's something I won't argue with anyone. Jimin knows boundaries, he knows where to stop and unlike what many want to believe, he doesn't behave with all members the same way he behaves with Jungkook. And no, this is not me trying to make it all about JiKook, this is about telling many of you that you don't really know Jimin.
The most frustrating thing about this is that several jikookers and vminkookers also made "jokes" about this. They are also normalising behaviour in the fandom in relation to Jimin which is toxic and dangerous, and that is frustrating. Once again I wonder why the aversion against Jimin? why the fear towards jikook?
A few days ago the subgroup demonized Jimin's donation to UNICEF for the affected children in Türkiye (Turkey) and Syria and no one did anything. Interesting how they didn't say the same about Hobi, who did exactly the same thing. The problem is when Jimin does it. The problem for many is Jimin.
Will I ever stop making posts like this?
Jimin is a wonderful, talented, respectful and private person. With a beautiful soul. super talented, funny and LOVED by MILLIONS of people in the world. Jimin will continue to succeed, and make lots of money and his detractors will continue to be bitter in the darkness of their bedrooms.

Re: Dearly Beloved in-universe fandom, it struck me that I have somehow never mentioned in-universe superhero/villain/whatever fanart despite fanart being such a core (and more importantly visible) component of fandom. (While mentioning fanfiction, subreddits, touching on fancams and ASMR roleplays etc etc) And I guess it makes sense because this is text, I don't really know they look like, and it's hard to describe visuals given the format I've constrained myself to. But I also feel like this blind spot has to do with other fandom-related meta lol. (Self indulgent and long rambling)
1. Superheroes/villains are classified as "real people". In real life fandoms, while there's fanart of famous real people (actors in movies, singers, Kpop groups, athletes, F1 drivers, etc), there's less fanart compared to fanart of characters (anime, video games, books, etc). I assume this is because you need to have a certain level of skill to capture a real person's likeliness nicely. And real people may feel offended upon seeing "bad" fanart of themselves, whereas fictional people can't feel offended.
But superheroes/villains are masked and often wear helmets for safety. So you don't need the skill to draw their real life faces. Their suits are probably visually distinctive which makes it fun to draw (and cosplay!).
2. Superheroes/villains aren't just famous real people. There's a political connotation, in which it could be dangerous to support villains and people may not like heroes because they're like fantasy cops with powers. Especially in this context in which the government controls the heroes, there's whole system to raise heroes from children, there's censorship and conspiracies. Bringing to the third point:
3. Fanart is a very visual. (No shit, Sherlock.) Okay, in the sense people outside of the fandom are more likely to encounter fanart. It's also a publicly liked form of fandom, in comparison to fanfiction. I guess edits and cosplay are also liked and respected, but probably less common than fanart. (Insert something about my positionality as a fan of MCYT who writes fanfic, something about MCYT loving fanart and including it in their videos, commissioning artists, whereas fanfic (rightfully and thankfully imo) stays underground) So people who write hero RPF are already seen as "weirdos" and "the corner of the Internet you shouldn't see". It's not taken seriously. But if someone posted hero fanart on Twitter, normies would see this as liking / endorsement of said hero, whereas fanfiction would not get this kind of visibility. (And is shunned upon probably no matter what you write because fanfiction is generalised is "weird thing Wattpad teenage girls do when they want to bang a famous person".)
3.1. Back to the MCYT fandom thing. Heroes/villains can be compared to MCYT since they look different on and off camera (with and without their suits, like Minecraft skins and designs), they use different names for their different identities, and they put on a public persona. Similarly, I can imagine heroes finding fanart of their hero persona flattering and occasionally engaging with it on Twitter. (Whereas fanfiction stays underground.)
3.2. So I loveeee parodying the "cringe" Wattpad fics, not because I want to make fun of them, but because it's enjoyable to write without restraint. (And it's funny.) I think the general style is so unapologetically fun (and nostalgic). I have a lot of things to say about Wattpad (in defence of its users!), but it mostly boils down to young people being excited and earnest. I know a lot of people hate Wattpad, especially its RPF. I find it fascinating. Because someone (often tweens) had to be motivated to write that, someone had to have the passion to do it, and they'll do it badly (knowingly or not), because writing as a hobby is supposed to be fun! It's the essence of it! And it's the "bad" kind of fanfiction that I want to pay respect to. The kind that people look upon with disdain. The kind YouTubers make fun of. Because more often than not it's a thirteen year old being silly/stupid and it's mean to make fun of kids earnestly trying to make something.
Anyways in the universe, fanfiction sites become a place to store government censored conspiracies/theories because they fly under the radar compared to Reddit and Youtube.
4. I always felt I wanted to write the story instead of Tweetgen-ing it. Maybe it felt more "serious". And mimicing social media with text/HTML is easier than graphics. Now I feel like the utter lack of visuals in a social media fic (when social media is extremely visual, almost obnoxiously so) makes me focus on text itself— dialogue, transcripts, usernames, Tumblr tagging, YouTube comments, notices about subreddits being taken down, to-do lists, "confirm to delete" text boxes. In-universe fanfiction (both the Wattpad and Ao3 type) is taken seriously in the sense it helps with storytelling— it shows differing attitudes to events and public figures. It shows what type of perception is popular.
Anyways. I'm not sure this is interesting and I'm probably rambling inside my head. I guess I do love fanfiction as an art form. And I do admire and respect the earnest writers and readers on Wattpad. I still occasionally wake up to like 30 comments on a Wattpad fic from 4 years ago. I'm glad people still read it lmao.
#ria.txt#personal#dearly beloathed#meta about my meta fic........#this is silly and self indulgent but i spent the post defending silliness and self indulgence lmao#anyways. next update is coming i prommy im just trying to finish the hardest part of the story#not sorry for the cliffhanger :)

mrffggggg i hate endos
our sys is pretty strongly anti harassment but BOY
I want to go and yell at some endos but that is COUNTER PRODUCTIVE :( but god theyre frustrating sometimes
like. And i know a lot of them are kids. and i know a lot of them are misinformed. but it still hurts??? the generalisations of anti endos by endos hurt :((
and then theres people who shit on anti endos and call themselves endo neutral when. when what they say is anti endo is just ppl who harrass endos
i am anti endo
i do not harrass endos
idk sorry this is a rant and a vent and a ramble and im tired :(
yeah, we get that. We get really angry at endos too, but arguing with them is counter productive. Most of them won't listen anyways. We make posts that they can listen too if they want, but we still wouldn't want them to interact if they were to argue, you know? Even if they're kids, it's still harmful misinformation which is putting people in danger. Maybe not "directly" but certainly indirectly. Also you aren't endo neutral if you believe endos exist and you call anti endos shitty, that's just pro endos hiding under a neutral label-
Also don't worry, it's fine. This is what this blog is for anyways

if Shuu was a human what would his top 5 favourite foods be?
ooh good one. This is tricky bc shuu is such a picky eater, but still has this ‘eat the world’ attitude, i think one thing abt human shuu aus rly neglect to compensate for is how closely tied Shuu is to the idea of being an apex predator, but I think you can still achieve it, and I will try my best! i do know a bit abt gourmet food! (There are actually a lot of books abt food critics and gourmet chefs who get 𝕗𝕣𝕖𝕒𝕜𝕪 with cooking)
i feel like is also hard bc shuu would probably like everyone to think his favourite food is something rare and exotic so maybe he would twist the truth a little. Narrowing down specific foods is difficult but I will try my best!
Kaneki’s bussy
Orlotan - this fucked me up when i heard about it. But the practice of eating orlotan is utter decadence - to a ridiculous extent. It’s a bit like Foie Gras - the orlotan are wild caught and force fed to double their mass, then drowned and marinated in Armagnac and then cooked. It’s meant to be consumed whole, the bones spat out, and typically, the consumer is traditionally supposed to wear a napkin or towel over their face whilst they eat the bird. I can’t remember why - but I’ve seen it said that is either to maintain dignity when spitting out the bones, or to shield such a disgraceful act from God’s eyes. The latter sounds cool as fuck so i believe it. I love Jesus!!! I think Shuu would lap something like that up. I’ve yet to find something so dreadfully French in the matter of food, and I think he’d probably say this is his favourite food - if only for the amount of ceremony involved.
Cheesecake - Shuu always mentioning cheesecake in early TG and I would like to give him this one as a little treat. I don’t know a lot abt cheesecake bc i fucking hate the stuff but maybe he’d like something like Basque? Which is just burned custard(?) cheesecake - i was reminded of tiramisu but apparently it’s more of a soufflé. I think he’d probably go for something floral too - rose cheesecake’s probably a thing, lavender, peony. I don’t know if I see him as a sweet/dessert person. He’s more likely to enjoy richer desserts like cheesecake and chocolates.
Dark Chocolate - maybe a sneak! I am a Dark Chocolate Enjoyer so total bias but hear me out (yes i do also like black liquorice!). If it is less than 80% cocoa it’s too sweet! He’d be a 100% kind of guy, because bragging rights. I think he might enjoy it with some fruits, maybe with orange biscuits or raspberries. I think he’d like raspberries, they taste like little rubies to me. Dark chocolate goes good with almond butter, he might make it fancy - foamed raspberry with shredded chocolate over almond biscuits with coffee cream. we might call that a rather bizarre mocha, but shuu would say it’s a deconstructed tiramisu. the reason i think he’d choose dark chocolate is because i don’t think he’d eat sweets. Dark chocolate has a deeper taste profile, in my experience dark chocolate is always unique. This might appeal to Shuu. It goes well with far more flavours than typical chocolate - spices, florals, etc - i recently had dark chocolate almonds dusted in matcha! They were utterly divine. Dark chocolate is highly overrhated in my opinion.
Exotic Meat - this is a generalisation sorry 😢 But I believe it canonical - very premium cuts of meat from animals you might not typically farm - zebra, bear, crocodile, rattlesnake, that sort of thing. It’s really controversial for some reason and as a vegan I should be opposed, but I think wild hunting is leagues better than farming, provided it’s not an endangered species, but Shuu would definitely eat an endangered species. Maybe he likes to brag and his favourite meat is snow leopard, or something. Dodo. Dinosaur, even (he was There).
Fugu (pufferfish) - this is shorthand for ‘dangerous food’ lol! Without the danger of being a ghoul, we have to consider how a human shuu might chase this danger. He might hunt his exotic meats, but I think he might try and achieve this by also eating dangerous food - food that’s poisonous or toxic. a bit of a Russian roulette. I wouldn’t even put it beneath a human or a ghoul Shuu to eat something with worms! (Same tbh. Would.)
i think most of the above are what Shuu might want people to believe are his favourite foods, so I’d like to take some time to throw my other ideas in the ring.
I think he’d take comfort in Monte Cristo - if only because in a human universe, I would take it to be his father’s favourite food. He’d probably be given it as a child or something, so good associations. There’s not much rly to say else there, but the idea of Shuu eating a toastie fascinates me. If he eats it when he’s sad, i think he’d look like that little mouse video, but otherwise I think he’d eat a toastie with a knife & fork.
I mentioned dark chocolate earlier, but of course he might also like some luxury chocolates - i think of these wonderful chocolates i saw once, that had been dyed and marbled to look like planets and marbled, filled with pistachio or coffee foams. Wonderful. Straight from switzerland or italy. Maybe he would enjoy ruby chocolate too? I’ve never had it! I said no sweets but white chocolate has a time and place, but it works wonderfully with wasabi or miso - i made wasabi and white chocolate cupcakes once. Good lord. He would like that. White chocolate and nuts is also very good. When I was vegetarian, my guilty pleasure used to be salted liquorice dipped in white chocolate - but I don’t know if he’d like that!
i think he’d eat sea urchin.
Some drinks too! -
Coffee: specifically coffee with blue seaweed or Kopi Iuwak. He’s definitely tried it, but does he like it? Who knows? I’ve always wanted to try seaweed coffee. Kopi Iuwak is coffee beans that’s already passed through the digestive system of a civet. It sounds like a bit of a farce to me, but i don’t think it’s as repulsive as people make out.
matchaaaa - bias i just think everyone should drink matcha
moon milk - i’ve never had this bc broke but it sounds so good. I think he’d like the pink/rose milk the most! maybe the blue spirulina?
Nut milks - vegan bias but seriously who can honestly argue cow juice tastes better than a refreshing glass of cashew milk??? Shuu would probably have something like pistachio milk, tigernut, brazil nut, macadamia -that sort of thing! Stuff you can’t get from the shops!
People will probably kill me if I don’t mention escargot or frogs legs so. Obligatory mention. Personally I find that to be rather typical and cliched - ooh, mandatory french food! So bizarre! Whatever. Partly why this ask took me a long time to get to, is because I wanted to go through my books and notes. It would have been easy for me to sit here and type that human Shuu would eat lobster and ragyu and live baby shrimp in miso soup, but i think it’s too obvious. In my experience, there is so much more to get out of Shuu when you delve deeper and don’t say the first thing!
i also want to say, sometimes i see how we (westerners) talk about food from different cultures. lots of high-class gourmet stuff seems silly, but i dont care to mock it. i can’t enjoy food anymore, but it makes me happy that some people enjoy food enough to make it a silly and pompous hobby. But i think sometimes we look at frogs legs or zebra steaks, orlotan or fugu, fermented egg, people eating guinea pigs, chihuahua or cat, sometimes we have a tendency to say it’s gross and twisted, but i don’t think that’s necessary. if something tastes good, if an animal has good meat, then why not? eating the world is sometimes a good thing. not always, but sometimes.
This question made me think a lot, so thank you! I was thinking about a human shuu - all the stories you could make up! There’s a lot to sink your teeth into!
I’m sorry if this was incoherent last night i took 40 laxatives and i just drank 2 monster energy back to back I feel very sane!!!!

im literally so so SO fucking sick of how the women involved with doctor who STILL get treated nowadays. i saw a youtube video of a convention with janet fielding, and the main things people were saying about her include:
complaining about how she distanced herself from the show after she left in the 80s (no mention of how she actually came back for a charity skit with colin baker, but i guess that's not important when you hate her.) she actually left acting altogether in 1991 to become a full time agent, which was a lot of why she didnt return to dw until the early 2000s, since she thought being an actor while also representing actors would be a conflict of interest
complaining that she DID come back in the early 2000s and is now more involved with dw again, assuming it's because she's getting paid. yeah, sometimes people do work because they get paid for it. also, she clearly enjoyed her time on the show, she likes doing behind the scenes stuff and continuing to be tegan so i literally dont know what the issue is here
complaining that she has criticisms of the show whenever she goes off on a "feminist kick". i feel like i dont need to go further into detail here, but i will! what i specifically saw people complaining about was how she thought a lot of the female characters were screamers who had to be rescued by the men (for sure a generalisation, but absolutely a fair one) and (gasp) complaining about having to wear high heels and film in a quarry. perfectly reasonable!!!!! why the entire fuck would tegan STILL be wearing heels every single day when EVERYWHERE they go is a massive danger zone????
my favourite was someone complaining that she "slagged the show off without even watching it", meaning that she criticised some portrayals of female characters throughout the show but said she wasnt watching during ace's run. if she doesnt wanna keep watching she doesnt have to? david tennant did an episode of fish hooks but i doubt he watched the show for the rest of its run, do we give a fuck about that? no? moving on
in conclusion, if a woman says she thought some female characters in a show you love are stereotypical, that she didnt like wearing high heels on rough ground and mentions that she doesnt really watch the show much anymore and your immediate reaction is to get pissy about feminist rants and say you hate her, i really and truly think you're watching the wrong show. and i wholeheartedly believe things would be better if you kept your bullshit opinions to yourself.
#im so fucking ANGRY#women are not allowed to speak about ANYTHING without men taking issue#im so fucking tired of it#doctor who#janet fielding#tegan jovanka

Hello, I have a question on your answer to that last anon about men from different countries. You say that we mustn't judge men based on their ethnicity, that it doesn't make them violent/sexist, their culture does.
But isn't that what radfems already acknowledge about men in general ? That they're aren't this way naturally/biologically but because of how they are raised in this society we live in ?
If we can acknowledge that and still be female separatists, why not also acknowledge the bad experiences some women have had with men from specific cultures and understand that they trust them even less than the ""average"" man ?
It's not my case personally, but it's mostly because I don't live in a very diverse country and only know people who have the same origins as me. I can't tell if other men are worse or better. But I'm really asking about this in good faith, because some of what I've read from radfems who have been called racist didn't really seem so to me.
Is the core of the problem the fact that we are allowed to make generalisations about men based on our experience with them, their behaviour, and the way they're raised, but we are not allowed to single out certain cultures/countries ? It seems unfair to me, I think it's childish to pretend like all over the world all men are the same, even though the cultures are so different.
I do think culture plays into it, and we should ofc be able to criticise misogyny when we see it, even if it is part of a marginalised culture (so long as it’s not used as justification for racism or xenophobia). And there are ofc some cultures that are more obviously sexist than others, which we should also be allowed to acknowledge. That being said I think misogyny is at a dangerous level in all cultures (which I’ll come back to).
But as I said earlier I do think environment plays a bigger role: ie how much the current surroundings allow for misogyny. And often any culture becomes completely irrelevant as it appears any and all men will descend into misogynistic violence no matter where they have come from. I do not think we can blame women who are afraid of men who have been in or are in these environments and have participated in or been complicit in misogynistic violence, I think that’s self preservation. But at the same time I do not think it is as simple as ‘men from this country’ or ‘men from this culture’, because even one country/culture and its people are going to vary greatly. And generalising about a certain ‘type’ of man is usually useless anyway because male violence really doesn’t vary that much between ethnicities. I can understand having an instinctual elevated almost irrational fear of a certain type of man if there have been previously bad experiences with similar looking men, but it should treated as such: irrational and not a legitimate reason why that type of man should be feared more than any other men.
I don’t have a perfectly coherent answer….but roughly what I mean is yes women have every right to be afraid of any men, especially those they know to be violently misogynistic for whatever reason; but at the same time it should not be allowed to devolve into racism or xenophobia; because it is mostly down to environment anyway. This may make it seem inherent to men rather than socialisation, but it is worth noting that no culture on earth thus far has made much meaningful progress against societal misogyny or male violence. It is, in my opinion, pretty extreme even in the most ‘progressive’ of cultures. I think if there was a culture or society that actually managed to eradicate it, perhaps the men from that culture would not devolve into misogynistic violence at the first chance. Maybe the best we can hope for right now is preventing the environments where misogynistic violence is permitted, and trying to eradicate misogyny in our cultures as best we can.
I hope this answers what you’re asking
