Another thing about my ship with Casey is I think it’s one of the healthiest self ships I have

Because yes Casey and I are very different people but that’s also soooo good because it means we challenge each other in different ways. Like he’s so extroverted and loves jet skiing and paint ball and laser tag and mountain climbing and all sorts of stuff, and I’m very introverted and prefer stuff like baking and fishing and painting and writing and making things with my hands

And we definitely encourage each other’s hobbies and try to participate in what we can/are comfortable with. I’ve done jet skiing with him once or twice and gone laser tagging. And he’s absolutely gone with my to a pottery painting place to paint each other mugs or plates or cute little things to hang on the wall and he definitely has gone fishing with me

But we also have those hobbies that we do separately. I am terrified of heights so I would never go mountain climbing but that month he was gone mountain climbing? I was definitely cheering him on at home and checking in whenever he had a signal. I’m going through a baking fit and churning out dozens of cookies a week? Casey is too afraid to be snapped at in the kitchen, but he will absolutely be my taste tester and lick clean the bowl when I’m done and do the dishes for me while I handle the oven

He’s also a huge Cold War nerd so of course I always get him any new books on it or show him any new documentaries that come out. I’m happy to sit and listen to the documentary and write while he’s enthralled on the couch. I love hockey so he absolutely sits and watches any Capitals games with me and asks questions and cheers/boos along with me. We play video games together, go to couples cooking classes, get concert ticket’s for each other of the other’s favorite artists, ramble to each other about our interests, and cook sooooo much Puerto Rican food that his mom, aunts, and grandmother cooked for him while he tried to teach me Spanish so I feel more connected to my roots

We don’t spend 24/7 together though something we wish we did. But we absolutely have hobbies, interests, and friends outside of each other and I think that makes things so much more fun because we always have new stories to share, and at the end of the day we’re always asleep in each other’s arms

BENIDORM FEST 2024 - PARTICIPANTS

Yesterday (november 11) all 16 participants of Benidorm Fest 2024 were revealed - the songs will be revealed on december 14th. I wanted to make this post talking about all the possible representants of Spain in ESC 2024, as a little intro to them and how their songs might sound like. As always, everything will be below the cut :)

ALMÁCOR

Arturo Almarcha Corella, better known as Almácor (Villena, 26) is an urban artist that started his career in 2019. He has released an EP since then, and has collabed with artists like Henry Mendez or Chimbabala. This year he was nominated in the Best New Urban Artist in the Los 40 Music Awards. His most popular song is DE TO', and his last released song is Pop Tech.

ANGY FERNÁNDEZ

Angy Fernández (Palma, 33) is a LEGEND and our very own emo princess, she's an icon. Her leap to fame was being the runner up in the first edition of Spanish X Factor, in 2007, but she became a phenomenon when she starred in iconic teen drama Física o Química (2008-2011) as Paula Blasco. She also released various albums and songs, like the hit and iconic emo bop Sola en el silencio. After the show she has appeared in various TV programs like Tu Cara Me Suena, and has continued making music as well as acting in theatre, cinema and TV shows. Her last released song is Dualidad.

DELLACRUZ

Jorge de la Cruz Correa, better known as Dellacruz (Santa Cruz de Tenerife) is a Canarian urban pop singer that started his own singing career in 2019 after ample experience as a songwriter; he has written songs for artists such as Sergio Dalma, Xuso Jones, or Dvicio, among many others. His most known song is La Trama, whereas his last released song is Tocamos Cielo.

JORGE GONZÁLEZ

Jorge González González (Madrid, 35) first rose to fame after competing in OT 2006, and he since has been in two Spanish preselections for ESC 2009 and 2014. He has also participated in The Voice and in Tu Cara Me Suena, where he won in the 2020 edition. His most famous song is Por Besarte, and his last released song is Agüita.

LÉRICA

Lérica is a duo composed of Tony Mateo (San Fernando, 29) and Juan Carlos Arauzo formed in 2015 that sings pop infused flamenco and urban music, and have collabed with very big artists like Belinda, Gente de Zona, Abraham Mateo (brother of Tony Mateo), Cali y el Dandee or Juan Magán. They have 14 platinum albums and 9 golden ones, and are right now the most listened to Spanish duo in terms of streams. Their most famous song is Flamenkito, and their latest released song is Un Rato pa Siempre.

MANTRA

Mantra is a pop band made out of Carlos Marco (Alacant, 31), Paula Pérez and Charly Weinberg (Madrid, 25), born in 2020 when the three friends decided to start a project together. All three have been in the music industry for a long time; Carlos Marcos is the most-known of them, as he was part of the boyband Auryn (alongside Spain's representant in ESC 2021, Blas Cantó), who participated in the ESC 2011 preselection. They have an up-beat and positive attitude in their songs, and have released their first album in 2023. Their most popular song is No Te Esperaba, and their latest single is ¿Te Acuerdas o No?.

MARÍA PELÁE

María Peláe (Málaga, 33) is an icon and a flamenco singer known for her witty and ironic lyrics, with a modern spin on traditional sounds. She started her career in 2016 after studying Anthropology and Social Work in university, and so her songs usually have a social message. In fact, in 2023 she was awarded the Rainbow Award by the Ministry of Equality for her work in the LGBTQ+ scene. A song I really recommend of hers regarding this is La Niña, a very fun song about wlws (also the music video is soooo). She has released two albums - the second of which won an Odeón to Best Flamenco Album, and has participated in various TV shows like Tu Cara Me Suena. Her most popular song is Por si te vas, and her latest single is Letra Menúa.

MARLENA

MARLENA is an indie pop duo composed by Ana Legazpi (voice) and Carolina Moyano (guitar) that formed a band in 2017 when they decided to participate in X Factor Italy. They became friends with Damiano and Victoria from Maneskin, and decided to name themselves after one of their songs, Torna a Casa, where the name Marlena appears. They even sing some of Maneskin's song in their concerts. In 2021 they were nominated for Best New Artist or Group in the Los 40 Music Awards, and have collabed with Nil Moliner, La Pegatina or Despistados. I listen to their song bailamorena at least once a week (i wish i was joking), tho their most popular song is Me Sabe Mal. Their latest released song is Red Flags.

MISS CAFFEINA

Miss Caffeina, formed by Alberto Jiménez (voice), Sergio Sastre (guitar and keyboard) and Antonio Poza (bass) is definitely the biggest name this edition. They are a staple in the indie rock scene since their inception in 2006, and are especially staples in music festivals all over the country and abroad. They have realeased three albums and an EP, and their most known song is the modern classic Mira Cómo Vuelo, with over 13 m views on youtube. Their last released single is Para toda la vida.

NEBULOSSA

Nebulossa is an electropop band formed by María Bas (voice) and Mark Dasousa (producer, synths). They debuted in 2021, and define their formula as MPYMS (A lot of Pop and a lot of Synths), basing their music on the sounds an rhythms of the 80s. Their most popular song is GLAM, and their latest song is 1N84.

NOAN

Noan (Zarautz, 25) is a pop-rock indie artist that debuted in 2020. He has collabed with zzoilo or El Sueño de Morfeo, and I personally really enjoy his collab with Paula Koops, Odio que te Quiero. His most popular song is ME MATA(S), and his latest song is Zero (which is a cover btw).

QUIQUE NIZA

Quique Niza (Madrid, 20) is a musical theatre actor who has been performing all of his life; some of his notable roles are Kurt von Trapp in The Sound of Music, and Danny Zuko in Grease (I saw him live here, and he's incredible!). He has also appeared in some TV shows, like UPA Next and Días Mejores. He has only released one song so far, Ardo.

ROGER PADRÓS

Roger Padrós (Polinyà, 26) is a Catalan singer and piano player that first rose to fame as a participant in The Voice. He has since released an EP and an album, with songs both in Spanish and Catalan (he has confirmed his song for Benidorm Fest will be in Catalan). He is also the resident musician of Casa Batlló, in Barcelona. His most popular song is Digue'm, and his latest song is El Buit.

SOFIA COLL

Sofia Coll i Benito (Barcelona, 24) is a singer, actress, and dancer who rose to fame as a participant of The Voice Kids when she was 14, although she didn't release music until 2019, with songs that mixed Spanish and English. She was one of the protagonist of the TV show Bany Compartit (I watched the first episode while writing this, it's really fun and I really recommend it! Episodes are around 10 minutes long, and you can find all of them in RTVE Play and Youtube; they're in catalan, but there's Spanish subs available), and she was one of the dancers in Rosalía's mv for Fucking Money Man. Finally, she participated in the Catalan music contest Eufòria this year, ending up 4th. Her most popular song is Tú Mente y Yo Corazón, and her latest song is Génesis: Alive.

ST. PEDRO

Pedro Hernández, better known as st. Pedro (Santa Cruz de Tenerife) is an urban artist, rising to fame due to The Voice, where he participated in 2017. Through the program he met Juanes, his musical godfather. He has know collabed with Alizzz in Miami, where he lives now. His most known song is Cerca del Sol, and his latest song is No es lo que toca.

YOLY SAA

Yoly Saa (Pontevedra) is a Galician singer-songwriter singing in Spanish that has been making music since 2020, although she has also composed for other artists such as Luz Casal o Malú. She has released an EP and a full album, and participated in Dúos Increíbles in 2022. Her most popular song is Todo contigo, and her latest song is Mal de altura.

also others who sing?? others who use their voice as an instrument? love love love (/p). all of the music variants are so interesting and catchy! it's also nice to see how others utilize other instruments (especially string instruments. gahh we love string instruments!!!) we recently started listening to Ado, and although we don't know what she's saying (we don't fluently speak anything other than English, and we're currently learning German and Spanish), we can tell that she's singing it with sooooo much passion! we love singing ourself, but her voice is absolutely unREAL! /gen, vpos

hiya 🫶🏻 sorry i missed a couple days it’s been a bit hectic with christmas shopping and such lol.

my brother is 22 so yeah lol. my sister is nearly 16 and i’m 26, so it seems like a very big age difference, but it doesn’t feel like it tbh. i feel more like i’m 20 most of the time, at the very oldest lol. plus i’ve always lived at home so there’s that. i hope u get to see ur sister before then somehow 💜

the concert was sooooo good they are so incredible live it’s insane. like vocals stage presence EVERYTHING. it was last year but i still think about it constantly. honestly i go back and forth with my fav member they all mean so much to me, i think rn my bias (fav) is beomgyu (although kai will always be my baby lol). beomgyu is my sister’s fav too. fav song hmmmm that’s hard they’re all rly rly good…. i am rly into Lo$er=Lover and Devil By The Window. if u ever wanna listen to them those are great starts i think. have u ever considered getting into kpop? if u feel like having a new obsession i would be happy to be ur guide haha i’m always tryna convert ppl and i have a lot of groups i love. no pressure! but if u ever feel like giving it a go i have plenty more recs. the music is rly rly diverse i don’t think ppl realise how different groups sound from each other.

lolll i know right? very hallmark-esque. they also both lived in hawaii at the same time before they knew each other, so my name is hawaiian.

i don’t drink much either, not at all rly unless i have a little wine with a fancy meal. just not my thing. its not super strong in sauce but u can def taste a hint of it. broccoli in pasta is soooo good! have u ever had it on pizza? that’s one of my fav underrated toppings. and ok as for pasta shape, i rly love all of them, but smth about the texture of angel hair is sooo perfect to me lol. i love all the fun interesting shapes too, and shells, and campanelle, and radiatori, and a classic fusilli. but a classic spaghetti or angel hair will probably always be my number one. how about you? i haven’t had samosa chaat but it sounds incredible! honestly the best indian food i’ve ever had was in richmond in the uk, the second best was in colorado in the us. i will def be looking for modak next year!

i’m glad ur party was fun! i should get back to practicing my spanish, i used to take lessons and so many ppl speak spanish in the us. (i will def show u pics once i’m off anon hehe)

lololol i’m a stay at home daughter currently i have Always off. except i do a lot of cooking and cleaning and taking care of my sister so it’s like…. my days “off” and “on” are the same. on halloween we went all out with decor and actually won a house decorating contest! and then we had harvest decor during thanksgiving, and then went right into christmas yup lol. we have a snow machine for the yard and everything pfff. and we used to, but i have a goldendoodle who kept eating the needles so unfortunately we had to get a fake one. it’s really fancy and looks real but it’s not the same in the slightest i miss my real trees. i’ve chopped my own down in the woods before! that’s my fav way to do it.

same girl lol…. i have to take the dog on walks every day tho so that keeps me from fully bed rotting. hmmm holiday hobbies…. well, i like to ice skate year round, but especially around the holidays. same with baking, i always do that but it just feels extra special when it’s for christmas. as for other festivals hmmmm well in america we do valentine’s day (one of my favvvs), easter, st. patrick’s day, the 4th of july which is our independence day, halloween… i also rly love chinese new year. i’m not chinese but growing up family friends were and i’ve always gone to chinese new year festivals and i just lovveeeee them!!! i like to celebrate everything i can though. i’ll bake a cake for earth day. garden on arbor day. i just rly like any excuse to celebrate honestly!

the most authentic italian food i’ve ever had is in little italy in boston and it’s so incredible i think about it every day. but any time i see ppl’s holiday foods i always wanna try them!! ❄️🌸

i have seen clips here and there of kpop concerts (mostly because there's an indian ig account that puts bollywood music over their choreo and it's honestly insane how well it matches 😭) and the production looks sooo good i wish some of my favourite artists would put out that level of production into their shows! how many people are there in txt 👀 i have tried to get into kpop before! i had a friend who was a big fan of bts and during the pandemic she tried to get me into their music but i don't know i just wasn't able to properly get into the fandom 😭 also i'm kinda hesitant to get into new fandoms because fandom culture these days feels so toxic and i feel like i have no time for it 😭 but please do feel free to send me ur favourite songs and i'll give them a listen, who knows i might end up enjoying them!!

ooh i didn't know that loads of people spoke spanish in the states, i thought it was only around the eastern parts! i moved to a spanish speaking country with basically very minimal tv based knowledge of the language and i'm struggling with grammar slightly but hopefully i'll pick it up soon and not butcher the language completely. very excited to see the pics soon ahh!!

Early this week I was able to watch Undelu's first episode and I still have the same complaints I had due to the first impressions I DID have when it aired WAY back last year :)

I don't think the first ep needed to be SO artistry or too symbolic in some parts. I mean, I know ex-SHAFT staff worked on this... but I still don't feel it needed it (the tilt heads meme that SHAFT is full well known is still rotting in my mind after all these years, it seems) and I feel it goes better with stuff like 3gatsu rather than... Undelu.

OH, the first sequence is NICE and it implies in some way or form that might be the anime adaptation of To You From Me, with all the context/parallels of the Loops, Victor, Juiz and the fact that I ALWAYS forget Undelu happens in some weird alternate world than ours... but it didn't have to go hard like THAT, lol (also some parallels with IRL Undelu's anime adaptation vs the manga... I have read reactions that are ALL over the place for the pacing of the anime's season, so, that might be fun :)) )

I miss the crowd from the first scene of Fuuko and Andy... it feels so strange and lonely... it works better that there was a crowd and not... just THEM???

My brother insisted to watch it with the LatAm dub, so I cannot really be against it. So far, it's good... but it feels a bit... weird because it's ALSO using other Spanish translation than what the manga uses (I always suspected that the manga is using Spain's manga TL and it's being "fixed" for it to be neutral) and there's also the biiiig familiarity of reading the manga in English. SO. WEIRD.

To put it briefly:

English -> Spanish (Manga) -> Spanish (Anime)

Unluck -> Desafortunada -> Infortunio

Soemthing about synonims and words and nouns that are rarely used in Spanish becase there are alternatives that are better well known and used in our dialect and some feel like REAL, REAL deep cuts that I have rarely seen other ppl use in prose context (ie unluck is basically mala suerte)

Andy is named like such in the LatAm anime's localization because "Anti-muerte" and Anti -> Andy sound similar I guess (we all know it's because Andy - Undead and it's pronounciation in Japanese as its a borrowed word from English... so)

I know that Tozuka never anticipated the series would get translated other than English (and I think he even mentions that his assistants may know a bit better English than him, regardless), so there's going to be nouns and such that would be weird in my language translation later on (Unjust and Unfair both mean "injusto" >.>, the manga opted for "Ilegal" for Unfair... and yet it still doesn't sound right when certain someone gives hints of what their real ability is >.>, it TECHNICALLY has the same meaning as "injusto" in certain situations -ie cheating-, i will be real, but other than THAT...)

The dub is okay, so far. I think Edson Matus is the highlight because he fits Andy's gruff voice a lot (yet I want to listen to Youkyan, because... Youkyan) and he is currently one of my bro's fave dub actors at the moment (he voices Charlie in Smili*ng Friends, and I concur, he sounds awesome there). look, I am SOOOO tempted that in any chance they get him here, I will bring either vol 1 or my figure to get it signed (below the figure base, sorry :V*)

oh noo :( wishing things to get better for you for the second half of the year<3 and omgg two times i’m so happy for you!!! i also saw taylor last year but i had to travel to argentina (i don’t remember if i had said it before but i’m from chile) i had SO much fun i was truly happy to see her finally after waiting for more than 12 years and honestly my show was the best one (at that time) since she sang a remix for the first time (is it over now + out of the woods) and also travis was there so she changed the lyrics to karma is the guy on the chiefs coming straight home to me. the screams for that part were INSANE and i loved every second of the concert i miss her so bad and i wish she would come to chile too:(

and about my life… here’s a little summary:

i broke up with the guy i told you about (cause i liked him but not as much as he liked me so i felt like it was unfair for him)

my thesis traumatized me so bad cause my guide teacher left me ALONE i asked him to reunite several times and he never replied so i literally did it all by myself without any revision until i finished it

i defended my thesis so i officially graduated back in february

in january i sprained my ankle SO bad that i couldn’t walk for almost two months so i spent my birthday in bed and i had to defend my thesis sitting sjdjsk

i no longer have a best friend. in fact, today is her birthday and i decided that i would wish her a happy birthday and it will also be the last time she hears from me so i’ve been kinda bummed because of that (since last year actually but that’s a long story…)

i’m going to the dream show 3 in 30 more days so i’m so excited since i bought vip + soundcheck!!

i never stopped working at the place i did my last internship so they hired me but they’re underpaying me (they’re paying me about €590… so yeah that also has me a little bit sad? tired? bored?) but i know it is my first job and lots of my friend haven’t even found a job since we graduated but idk i think it's too little for the amount of work and do + one girl who doesn't know anything earns more than twice than me just because she's friends with our superior

since i have a job i will have to call in sick the day before the dream concert so guess they’ll pay me even less this month because i will miss 3 days 😭

i’m going to see a.c.e and i bought a fan sign so i’m also super excited about that (but not my wallet rip) !!!

my graduation ceremony is in two more weeks so i’m also happy about it since i'm graduating with honors and my outfit is arriving tomorrow (and i bought the sabrina shoes? the ankle ones so pray that i don’t trip and embarrass myself)

Rossi also joins Emily singing, but almost takes over and attempts some Pavarotti song, its not good... but it could be alot worse. And Emily tries to join in but she just makes up the tune as she doesn't really know the songs.

Oh and obviously penelope joins in but loudly asks evey two seconds what song are the singing and then breaks out into either a Disney song or an early 2000s club tune, no in-between.

i completely agree with everything you said hehe. luke’s voice isn’t stunning or out of the ordinary, but it’s almost unexpected how nice it is!! it’s not like he goes around singing for everyone and he doesn’t necessarily strike you as the type to sing enough to have a decent voice. but it’s sort of just naturally nice!! plus us latinos spend lots of time dancing and singing and there’s no way his abuelita didn’t make him sing hymns too when he was younger lmao. i think he mostly hums classic spanish songs that he grew up listening to. cielito lindo, etc. anyways!! he actually really enjoys singing, he just doesn’t do it for other people often. ahhh and the idea of him singing to roxy is soooo so cute!! he definitely lets loose more at home!! and will totally sing for his s/o with a wide grin if they ask him to <33

and emily HAHA i have no defense for her LOL I AGREE. she’s the kind of person that you expect not to have a good singing voice and she absolutely matches those expectations HAHA. she’s not trying to be bad :,) but she’s never had a natural nice voice, is kind of tone deaf, and certainly has never actively tried to improve. she thinks of it as a special skill to annoy people when she sings!! but i 100% agree that it’s so endearing to see her let loose a little and sing her little off key songs LOL. it’s really nice to see her feel comfortable and having fun so yeah, everyone lets it happen. and garcia 100% encourages it!! she’s always trying to get emily singing because it’s so sweet to see her tipsy smile and the way it makes everyone else crack up or cringe lovingly lol. jj totally makes fun of her, but also joins in for the fun of it.

and rossi HAHA he’s the type to cringe at emily’s bad singing because he holds such a regard for the beauty of classic italian music lolol. he definitely sings those songs during parties to “show her how it’s done.” and while he’s mostly in tune, he doesn’t actually have the best voice lmao. definitely better and more practiced than emily though of course.

and back to penny! yes she’s trying to join in because it’s fun!! but the songs are kind of boring to her so she switches things up. that’s when emily will really get into it and jj and other folks will join in!!
