Be honest, what are your thoughts on appledash? Do you hate it or its more of not a big deal
Not a big deal to me. I like it, I see all the appeals, I just personally like Rarijack more.
#ask me#anon#if you wanna know why i like rarijack more i just think they're a healthier depiction of a domestic and longterm relationship#appledash gives me the vibes of gfs that'll eventually break up#because from s1 to s8 their relationship and communication with each other on serious things never really matures or grows#they were competitive and petty in s1 and they were competitive and petty in s8#arguably worse cuz in that s8 episode their dynamic becomes so toxic they almost cause a student under their care to drown#both of them have a superiority complex that's constantly conflicting with each other and it never really gets resolved#but with rarijack there's a very clear arc of development you can follow in their character#and multiple episodes show how they'll argue and eventually come back together and apologize and communicate and work to better things#you can watch them grow to like and understand each other. in s1 aj scoffs and makes fun of rarity's work in fashion#but in a later season (after some conflict) aj says that she doesn't understand fashion but she knows it means a lot to rarity so it means#a lot to her too. and that's what love is to me. “it didn't mean anything to me until it meant something to you”#it's genuinely really sweet and i'd argue rarijack /feels/ the most romantic out of all the main 6 ships. through arguing they grow closer#which is how it's supposed to be in relationships that last! you argue to work out your interpersonal problems and understand each other#(which is why it's genuinely kinda baffling to me that appledash ended up being canonically married because they never gave me those vibes)#but it really doesn't matter. they're cartoon horses! have fun with them

Molly correcting Arthur when he calls her Miss O’Shea to call her Molly. And is then brushed off/ ignored when she was trying to confide in him.
Molly correcting Dutch when he calls her Miss O’Shea to call her Molly. And this literally being one of the final things she says before she’s killed.
The way she just wants people to use her name and treat her like an actual human being rather than an object to sit and look pretty next to Dutch. To look at her and see her and listen to her.
In this essay I will-
#messrs lil rambles#I could talk about this woman for hours and how deep and complex her character is#I’m pretty sure she corrects more than those two occasions too but those are both in cutscenes.#the way she’s almost a lil miffed at Arthur when she says it too#but was confiding in him. clearly trusted him and UGH MAN#Molly they could never make me hate you#molly o'shea#dutch van der linde#arthur morgan#red dead redemption 2

Bungou Stray Dogs: Dead Apple and how “ability users” (opposite to “normal people”) learning to accept themselves through the acceptance of their own abilities is a queer metaphor of acceptance of own's sexual orientation and gender: an essay by me
#bsd#bungou stray dogs#About: Dead Apple. Watched this a while ago with a friend and it was a lot of fun!!!#If you're reading this: thank you so much for hanging out with me I had such a good time (ㅅ´ ˘ )♡#Next to general considerations: wow they were right that Bungou Stray Dogs movie sure can Bungou Stray Dogs#It's always nice to see the detailed animation and elaborate backgrounds of movies. The animation quality compared to the manga is–#definitely noticeable and it's nice to see. That said... I still like the season 2 art style more? And I'm speaking strictly of art style.#The s2 one looks more soft and smooth while the da one is so much more rough.#The plot is... Very bsd-esque I don't think there's anything to add.#In my opinion Kyouka's arc is the one that turned out best tbh. I really like her narrative development and personal growth in this movie.#I like the complexity of her state of mind. how full of contradiction she is. I especially appreciate the recurring small changes of–#expression that indicate how she thinks differently from Atsushi even if she doesn't voice them. The fight between her cynicism and her–#kind nature. It's all very interesting.#Atsushi's development is interesting too. Although all the open questions about his ability we still have kind of leave me frustrated#I don't feel very strongly about Akutagawa in this movie? I mean‚ he's there. The ss/kk scenes are always great and in character and a joy–#to witness no matter what they do. He just doesn't shine particularly? Or at least personally I dont find the “proving my strength against–#myself” narrative arc to be particularly interesting. Imo it was a lot better flashed out in the da stage play! With the complexity that–#the dialogues with Chuuya added to the character. Dazai attacking him. And especially Aktgw understanding that Rashomon wasn't testing Aktg#but rather only expressing that unstoppable rage that is also Aktgw's own. About that I checked out the play and I really liked it!!#I only watched highlights (aka: ss/kk and chuu/aku scenes) but there's some stuff I really like. I like the conflict between Aktgw and–#Chuuya and how Chuuya messes up with Aktgw at first maliciously and then amiably. It's interesting how Atsushi himself observes that Kyouka#and Akutagawa get along. And especially the sskk almost-handholding and Atsushi saying Akutagawa has a nice profile were cute akjdhbsawhjb#Next. Da really is shipping paradise (╥﹏╥) Sorry but... It is. oda/zai. daz/atsu. ss/kk. s/kk. fuku/mori. chuu/aku. It really has everythin#and the moments are so good!!!! What else. Wish we'd see more of Tsujimura. And Christie. And women in general tbh.#Also‚‚‚‚‚ Atsushi's tiger form in this movie is ATROCIOUS. I've said it before but it's crazy how a franchises that relies so heavily on–#fanservice came up with something this hideous. Man the movie overall was pretty but Atsushi sure wasn't. Firmly stand by the belief–#that only Akutagawa would find that form attractive.#Oh last note. honestly if we're ready to accept a movie where an antidote has effect AFTER the person has effectively died then we really–#can't complain about any kind of insanity the manga brings up#random rambles

thinking about lucretia adventurezone and grinding my teeth down to the gums because holy fuck dude. holy shit. she was impossibly, horribly young on the starblaster. three hops and a jump from being a fucking baby. the two-sunned planet is devoured by the hunger in the same year that she graduates from high school. she is easily the youngest of the birds, even considering the differing rates of aging amongst the rest of the crew. teenaged astrophysicist, wizard, author, artist, without ties solid enough back home to keep her from the starblaster's maiden voyage. she writes and rewrites every moment she can wring from her memories into enough notebooks that it's damn near arthritis-inducing to step within 50 feet of the stacks upon stacks of field notes, of detailed accounts and gentle, domestic benignity. she loves and she loses and it still can't ever prepare her for the next decade. a century dwarfs the time she spends alone running the bureau, but the sheer magnitude of her loss is incomparable. lucretia learns to live in the stolen century, learns to rely on others, learns to trust and care and laugh and build, create, sacrifice, indulge. she pries these things away from herself in the name of a greater good, to what she believes to be their only hope. she sees the agony they're in, and she inadvertently compounds that anguish when she tries to fix it. she is 18 and 118 when she feeds fisher her journals. she is 30 and 130 and 50 and 150 when taako holds a staff to her chest and counts down like it means anything to her anymore that she dies. maybe it's atonement, but even that sounds far too holy a word to describe it. her brother grips her life in his hands, and she thinks it's only fair that he is the one to soundly smother it at last. the lonely journal-keeper is so young and so impossibly old and she is so, so tired. her family will outlive her by centuries. she will be a fine powder, dust beneath the crust of the planet, long before she believes their forgiveness will ever be known. if that day comes at all. everything she has ever done is soured by a guilt so weighty that she spends every day trying to play damage control with the havoc she feels solely responsible for having wrought. she lives within the confines of dichotomy, of red and blue and good and bad, even when she knows she's lying through her teeth, because its easier to live with herself (it's not) when she justifies it, when everyone else lives and dies by the idea that she got it right. she spends 12 years alone, sitting in the thick of her own grief. she mourns men who are right in front of her face. she sees the way they have changed, so fundamentally, sees the ways her choices have ruined them. 12 years is such a long time to be alone. 12 fucking years. she ages 32 in the same span, shedding decades in wonderland in the blink of an eye, and she knows she's running out of time. she's willing to give up whatever she has left, without question. lucretia loves so fiercely and so unquestionably and still she believes herself to be irredeemably cruel when really she was just so scared, tethered to any sense of hope only by the idea that she was doing right by her family. in a position that no one should have to be in, a situation that virtually no one else could truly understand. she was so young and she suffered so, so much. more than any person should. she is flawed but she is not the monster she convinces herself she has become. lucretia adventurezone they could never make me hate you lets kiss on the mouth ok?
#broodingpilled toilposting#c - taz#been a minute since i listened to later eps so this is almost definitely inaccurate to some degree or another#but thought about her so much i felt the need to throw a tantrum about her online#she is so compelling. griffin mcelroy FUCK you. dick.#post canon dynamics between her n the rest of ipre are fascinating and enchanting and a million billion other fucking words to me. good god#lucretia i love you. please try zoloft.#godspeed you sre wonderful#I LOVE HER lucretia hate makes my blood boil#even aside from the complexity of her character and narrative at large she is such a delightful character#her early interactions with thb are such a treat.#the adventure zone#taz balance#the adventure zone balance#will.wav

I'm gonna froth at the mouth over this in the tags so bear with me but reason #1278038 why the way rick went about breaking up jiper was bad: rereading her povs in hoo where she gushes over jason feels like even more of an unreliable narrator queer girl comphet psychological horror story
#it's not that that isn't interesting (it's fascinating actually. especially for a daughter of aphrodite!!!)#it's that it Obviously wasn't his og intention. the ending of hoo is clearly intended to give a positive impression of jiper#this is worsened because shelper is wildly underdeveloped so it's like Dude what did you even do this for#literally just an afterthought. a footnote really. he said “ok here's your canon sapphic rep pls stop shipping theyna now” /j#she was a main character in one of the main couples in hoo it's so crazy? how can that happen. he would never do this to percabeth#can you imagine if percabeth broke up offscreen and 2 months later annabeth was with some complete rando and then percy died. girl what#it's the kind of setup/payoff issue that is difficult to put into words because he set up something (jiper and all its complex morality)#to ultimately be good because they're making the choice to love each other in the end (poorly executed but whatever I don't hate it)#and then in toa????? he just obliterates them for no payoff and creates a new impression of the most literal case of comphet imaginable? wh#toa is my absolute least favorite sorry#marginally related but if we can Be. Chill. and acknowledge that he originally wrote nico as crushing on annabeth#(we can argue all day about how Definite the crush was but come on. he did not put percy's speculation of it in there for no reason)#(and he obviously did not plan for nico to be gay back then you will literally never convince me of this)#(representation was NOT on his mind in the first 5 books that's why the cast is almost completely white except charles and ethan)#(the disposable poc who die tragically btw)#then I see a similarly confusing debacle but like. in the opposite way#something something sexuality is fluid you can be gay and feel confused about how u used to have a het crush but are still gay#nico says so himself to piper which is hilarious#it's just the lack of consistency and poor planning that I hate........... it is a ginormous pet peeve of mine and it's All Over His Books#piper already reads as having so much growing to do regarding her gender and sexuality because Somebody#(the man writing her) littered her pov with internalized misogyny/anti hyperfemininity and went nowhere with it#rr crit#percy jackson and the olympians#piper mclean#jason grace#pjo hoo toa#anti jiper#<- I PROMISE I am not actually anti-jiper I am very neutral about it as I am with all jason ships. they had cute moments#tagging that just in case#this comes from a place of deep love for the franchise and it's characters btw I have been a fan since I was 8

people who hate on nemona because she's "too yandere" and "doesn't take a no for an answer" make me wonder if they actually payed attention to her dialogues or only read those joke comics about her being obsessed with the player and always craving violence and said "yeah this is her personality now". or just hate women.
#''she's too yandere!'' you don't know what yandere means then#''she doesn't accept a no for an answer!'' she repeatedly accepts you refusing to battle her through the whole game#she just gets insistent when you say you don't passed the league test#(because she truly believed you were so strong you would pass easily)#and when you tell her you don't want to be rivals (she though you liked battling her and wanted a friend to share her passion with)#''she's so weird!'' my brother in arceus this is pokémon EVERYBODY is weird as fuck#''she only talks about battling!'' and arven almost always talk about food and kieran always talked about ogerpon in kitakami#but i've seen nobody complaining about these two#wonder why#and nemona talks about other thinks beside battling!#she has Lore (TM) too#she has health issues despite her trying to shrug them off#she lived in a very rigid upper-class family where she's implied to have felt repressed#her own family pays more attention to her sister because she's going to be the heir of their corporation leaving nemona neglected#she doesn't have friends because her passion to pokémon battles alineates her from her classmates#if she defeats you in your first battle she gets depressed and says sorry because she believes she scared you away from being her friend#she's such a complex character but her background is more subtle than with arven or penny (and locked behind the postgame)#it saddens me that she's flanderized by literally everyone (even gamefreak/tpc in sv's epilogue)#pokemon#ramblings

"It's so rare for R to be in her right mind for a spell. Should she really be wasting the precious little lucid time she has writing this?" "Don't worry. For a witch, this is the most important thing."
you mean to be telling me that it's an explicit point that rhinedottir is rarely in the proper state to do spells and write things like this. and of all the choices she had not to. she chooses to write it and places importance (read. it's established as the MOST IMPORTANT THING too.) in spending said-precious-time to write something with her friends commemorating andersdotter. hoyo i need youto stare me in the eyes and real the implications of rhinedottir expending what the other's are describing as her "precious little lucid time" to commemorate and make an ode to her dead friend HOYOPLEAS
#i need everyone who characterizes her as a pure evil being and whatever to shutup so bad rn.DO YOU READ !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!#that was mean. i dont mean that.#more so:#LOOK AT HOW SHE'S BEING BUILT AS COMPLEX#she's done horrible things but. so have so many other people?? and i never see THEM characterized as only their sins#albedos one line#'human beings are defined by their flaws'#(or something to that affect)#has NEVER been more true#youguys did you take a 6th grade english class. You can be honest#how are you gonna look at this woman whose been explicitly built with nuance#as a person both sinful and good. but defined almost explictly by said sins purely for the fact she's human and against what's 'good'#AND THEN GO AND SAY SHE'S ONLY EVIL????????????????#ARE WE PLAYING THE SAME GAME/?????????????????#look at the distinction between the hexenteaser and alice's impression. read the blossoming starlight description.#try reading albedo's character stories with the slightest hint of media comprehension#THE ENTIRE POINTOF HER CHARACTER IS. SIMPLIFIED AND SHOWED THROUGH ALBEDOS STUPID LINE ABOUT HUMANS#PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1#anyways ifyou want to see some of the msot accurate interpretations of her i've ever seen pls go read reverie or nutmeg's fics💜💜#ok im done with all of that. thanks for coming to my ted talk#crepe rants#rhine#rhinedottir#genshin leaks

digging my teeth into the really dark fascinating fucked-upness of helnik. they’re fascinating in being a wartime love story about an intentional victim of genocidal violence and an unintentional fuck-around-and-find-out victim of “collateral damage,” both of which are different forms of wartime violence.
nina is targeted as a grisha, she’s almost killed by the druskelle and fjerda in the books not for being a ravkan spy or agent but simply for being grisha. they will kill her for being grisha. and how will they kill her? they will burn her. and it’s fascinating when she tells matthias in a very justified moment of rage (i mean. they’re looking at the dying burned corpses of her people whom jesper, also a grisha, had to physically shoot) and says i want your family to burn i want them all to be burnt in the way my people were. and matthias says, they already have been. they already burned. and how that changes the entire dynamic between them, everything leading up to that, becuase FUCK. yeah. his whole family has already been burnt. he’s a lone survivor of something in much the same way she is, and his family was burnt not on purpose for being grisha but as a “justified accident,” the casual civilian side-damage of war. and it was her people. unlike the intentional, systemic violence that destroyed her people and left nina a shaken, traumatised survivor of a purposeful genocide, we have matthias as this destroyed survivor of one of those little sorts of accidents that’s swallowed and justified by the shape of the war and what Must Be Done to succeed. (also he serves as like, one of the only times i think it’s really faced that the first army is, you known, a national army that does national-army-during-a-war things.) one does not cancel out the other.
their relationship is difficult and fucked and that’s why it’s fascinating and has so much potential to explore. it’s so much more complicated than the tiktok “enemies to lovers” trope because they dig right at the base of what it is to be an enemy to someone else. from the ship nina is an almost-lone survivor of the damage his people did. from his village being burnt by inferni matthias is a lone survivor of the damage her people did. from the consequences of war on his people and violent prejudice against her own, nina is raised a child soldier and in many ways reduced to weaponry, something that absolutely is a form of child abuse. from the consequences of war on her people matthias is inducted into a cult and subjected to spiritual abuse. they’ve been hurt by each other’s nations, but also by their own. there’s something so brutal but also tender in the way they knock each other off the orbits they’ve been living in and force them out of the home that is burning. love may make you free, but not without drowning first.
#nina zenik#matthias helvar#helnik#they're so. they're SO. look i will gilroyfy this there's almost unlimited material#six of crows#symmetry and mirrors and the mirror hurts#but yeah the fact they're both absolutely victims not only of each other country's war crimes BUT THEIR OWN COUNTRIES WAR CRIMES IS LIKE#well that's a lot to unpack. the violence that comes inside and outside the house#they cannot go home! as a consequence of meeting each other they cannot go home#tw genocide#obviously none of this is to let matty off the hook but i think he is a FAR more complex character and his deradicalisation from military#violence is far far more complicated than often given credit too#his backstory especially is. damn. look have your entire family killed by a military apparatus and say that wouldnt' radicalise you too?#i love them for being a fantasy and (sighssss to use this phrase) enemies-to-lovers couple that ISN'T royalty#and that#for all their induction into nationalism hates each other not only along national lines but the violence of lived experiences like#nina may filter her hatred of him and his people through Ravka Good Fjerda Bad but it's also the fact they very much did kill her people#she very much /is/ a survivor of a whole shipload of drowned people#meanwhile matthias may filter his code through Fjerda Good Drusje Very Very Very Bad but like... also they very much did kill his people#it makes their relationship so much messier#but yeah they aren't royalty (matthias even in the one time he describes his background calls his family paupers)#they're ordinary people who have by structures of war been pulled into semi-priviledged positions of elite soldierdom and servitude#and that is fascinating. two kings set their fighting dogs against each other and they fall in love#that love can be liberatory it can be radical it can be real it can also just be. not enough to break the cycle of violence#ANYWAY!!! i love them forever. i have thoughts

thinking about how fucked up it is how isolated olivia is in twelfth night. like she has all these people in her household around her all the time & none of them are actually very interested in her or her wellbeing outside of their own self interest at all. sir toby's abusing her hospitality, sir andrew's trying to marry her, maria's perfectly happy to use their connection to play a prank that ruins the functionality of the household, malvolio's deluding himself into thinking that she loves him & fantasizing what he'd do with her status, feste's inherently unreliable, and all of this is happening while she's trying to mourn her brother's death. like she has absolutely no emotional intimacy with anyone & no one to turn to & it's crushing
#hh. obviously all of these characters are complex in their own right & have their own things going on but the way they are to her it so. h#particularly I'd say feste & malvolio#like malvolio has not really done anything wrong here but I think it must be so so crushing for her to realize that this person she's felt#like she could rely on even when she couldn't anybody else is like. into her in the same way all these guys (orsino sir andrew etc) are#like even tho he hasn't done anything wrong can you really feel normally w him again y'know? esp if he's like I tend to read him an older#guy who she sees as almost sort of familial in his reliability. idk idk#thoughts#twelfth night

The Little Women musical is one of my favorite musicals and Jo is one of my dream roles, but at the same time I can’t forgive it for committing character assassination by making Laurie a weird awkward dork just to give Professor Bhaer a leg up as a love interest
#it seriously made it almost seem like Jo was friends with him out of pity at times and I HATE IT#the point is that Laurie is supposed to be the desirable rich romantic a touch Byronic love interest??? like that’s the point?? he’s#supposed to be the ideal (albeit a flawed ideal he is still a round character) so that it seems absolutely NUTS when Jo rejects him!!! it’s#a tragedy that she doesn’t love him and that they wouldn’t work out!!!#in the musical he kisses her almost unprompted (in the book he had been dropping all sorts of hints and Jo was pretending not to notice but#here it seems to come out of absolutely nowhere) and the audience is supposed to think ‘well of COURSE she rejected him. what a weirdo.’#like!!! have y’all heard of character complexity??? arghfhdhhrh#little women#little women musical

constantly having to hit myself over the head to stop the urge to write azula as more gnc simply bc i want to
#inside me are two wolves#azula's femininity is a huge part of the way she percieves herself internally and externally and is a major aspect of her character#and#azula handsome... yes?#i do get carried away with it a lot#and i do also think its so important to understand WHY azula presents herself the way she does. the makeup the language the title ect#whilst also presenting herself as an almost genderless function. shes attempting to be both female presenting and androgenous in perception#shes got facsinating complexities to it#and bring in the fact she is almost a carbon physical copy of her mother. perhaps the one unbroken connection she has to her#AND the royalty angle. the expectations of a woman in a royal line. continuing a dynasty. all of that shit#she's got a lot going on#but also. azula?? handsome????? gnc!!!!!!!! yeas#sigh
