There’s that post that’s like ‘everyone should get into a tiny niche fandom at least once’ fully agree, that was really fun -- but I would like to add that everyone should get into a fandom where their opinions run counter to major fanon because it really teaches you about sticking to your guns and trusting your interpretation of the text without having to rely on peer validation

MissKainan uploaded the art, but the actual artist is Mato. A mangaka and illustrator, she was the artist for volumes 1-9 of Pokemon Special (Pokemon Adventures)! She had to stop illustrating it due to a sickness causing her hand to hurt too much to illustrate manga/draw regularly.

I was so charmed by this! She even translated Nemo's disfigurement (one of his fins did not develop properly because of damage to his egg, during the barricuda attack that claimed his mother and siblings), but I didn't realize it was Mato until looking it up...

Nico referring to his mom as "Mama" implies he most likely at least used to refer to Hades as "Papa" and i 100% headcanon he still does but mostly in the manner of him having the entire Underworld wrapped around his finger for being the baby of the family

#Manga #Appleseed #Shirow Masamune #80s #This is literally every single one of these moments in the entirety of the manga's run #including bonus material #There's some great character writing hidden among all the infodumping and technobabble as well #But like I said before all it accomplishes is to make you frustrated #Because despite being written so well #Masamune was more interested in waxing philosophical than actually giving his characters the attention they deserve #Despite them displaying an insane amount of depth and complexity whenever they are able to #it's a very rare case where the characters are EXTREMELY well written and almost every moment they are on screen is amazingly well done #But the manga keeps demanding you listen to completely different side characters talk about politics for endless pages #while at the same time none of these politics have any consequence or relevance to the actual stories that happen on screen.#So it ends up with the majority of the manga is like listening to some guy you don't know on the bus reading the headlines of a newspaper #at you about political tension between two countries you have never heard of and will never feature in your life again #How do you write such great and well written characters and then be completely disinterested in actually putting them on screen?????

I enjoy that he is very flawed and volatile.#This episode of the audio drama has a lot of great breakdown scenes featuring JC - and they all deserve a feature.#But underlying this comic is a small meta comment of 'ah man I have too many comics of JC just wailing sadly'#My goal is to draw 6-8 comics per episode - I sometimes have to truncate and cut good scenes out.#Especially when a large majority is just different flavours of trauma and toxic relationships to your self-worth.#I would also like to make a note here that just because you lose the ability to do something that is very tied to your core identity-#-does not mean your life is over. It will feel like the end of the world. It will send you into a spiral of grief. It will hurt so badly.#Sometimes we do not realize how tied up our identities can be in certain things until we are cut loose.#You don't lose yourself. I promise the pain will fade in time. I promise you will find other things to tether you. I promise you will be ok #Life moves forwards. Time moves forwards. You move forwards.#Ego death just means an opportunity for ego rebirth. You are never committed to being the same person forever.#To wrap this around to JC: Yeah I love the twist with the core transfer but man I would have loved to see JC accept the loss.#Obviously it happens for a reason (story) but I can have my AUs. BUT Grantaire believes in ONE thing. And that ONE thing is ENJOLRAS. No matter how cynical and pessimistic Grantaire is, he believes in Enjolras. If Enjolras is Apollo, Grantaire is Icarus flying ever closer to him. And then at the end. When their revolution has failed and they are facing down the barrel of guns. Grantaire gets up and stands next to Enjolras and asks if he can hold his hand so that they can die together, and they do. It's heartbreaking and heart wrenching and Icarus brings the sun down with him as he falls."

thank you so much to the fics that pointed out explicitly that all of Neil's scars that he mentions are on his front, which implies very few of them were received while running and instead imply that he got them while fighting back.
