I need to write this out because this exact thought has been plaguing my mind for like a week straight.

Falling in love, or more like, what’s really hitting Ume right in the chest is the fact that he sees everybody and he thinks he’s seen by them as well but the thing is - it takes one to know one.

It has always felt like people with difficult pasts are quicker to look at a person and see what’s been shattered beneath the surface. Not in a sense of, you’re less or damaged because of it, but cracks in a mirror create more complicated patterns of light. It isn’t a simple reflection anymore, you have to look more carefully to see the whole picture. Really train your eyes.

That’s what Ume has been doing all those years - spend his time studying people and seeing them, with all their struggles and why they come to Furin the way they are. He does it naturally, born out of a sense of relation to the isolation and because he knows what it’s like to feel utterly alone in despair. That’s nothing new once you get to know him - he treats everyone with kindness and an ever knowing stare.

What he didn’t expected when he looked at you is someone looking right back at him. A care taker of others, the gift and burden of seeing people so naturally to you, that it often overrides your sense of self, makes you act and burn out in the need to help others before you can even realize it.

It’s like a mirror seeing a mirror for the first time, reflections endless and depth unlimited. It startles him, the way you seem to look right into him, with that expression he’s given so many others before but really hasn’t received back. Like two people finally on the same emotional playing field, recognizing how deep the other one feels.

It’s about suddenly not feeling so alone in the way your brain runs, sees so much, feels so much and takes care of it all. Someone who understands. An equal, eyes locked and seeing one another plain as day.

You can tell that in that moment his mind goes “Ah, so you’re like that too.”

being autistic in fandom spaces is like really miserable because iiiiiii miss social cues a lot. and text cues i either miss frequently or interpret differently than intended. which makes me analyze characters different and need things explained of what was like. SO much has happened in these past few days development-wise (finishing MYN, started zailing & evolution) but instead of sketching all that my brain is still stuck in godfall (AMAZING writing there btw i been missing the weird stuff ever since i finished LF) + the massive Shapeling Arts grind i did there. more specifically, what reisz would attempt with their new knowledge.

why make entire new limbs when you can just make more bones? very hard and very, very sharp extra bones?

ofc, this is just the start. they'll do worse eventually. also don't mind their nakedness they didnt wanna ruin their clothes.

a lil context:

Their first dangerous weapon was, naturally, A Facial Scar. So i took that literally- their first mentor was a beast, it makes sense they'd learn to fight like one: completely barehanded. And well, their other mentors were soldiers of skite. All in all, one could say these Estival days completely broke their sense of pain & self-preservation. (if they ever had one to begin with. maybe that was proof they didn't)

A wound; another. A third between the first two. The soldier marks you like the pages of a prayerbook, pain after pain after pain. Afterwards, they daub your wounds themselves, in sweet Huzzite honey.

Their fighting style consists of getting up close and personal, using their entire body to slam into you and pin you down to dish damage. If you fight with a sword, they won't let you keep enough distance to swing it. If you use something like knife they're gonna make sure you stab their arms instead of their vitals.

They did learn the basics with weapons, but another consequence of killing themself smashing their skull in was that for the longest time, their fine motor control was... unreliable. They had trouble writing and eating, things just fell out of their hands all the time.

things got better as their brain healed over time but its still not the quite same. nowadays they struggle with unlearning the overcompensation strategy of putting too much strength on their grip.

So, yeah they never became truly comfortable fighting holding weapons. It was much easier to simply hone their own body into a weapon instead. That's half the reason they work out (the other half being that Hephaesta had fun strength training with a partner).

The next logical step with Monstrous Anatomy 7? Fangs and claws, naturally. Some reflective eyeshine too as a treat. They enjoy how they can put these away and make them come out at will with Shapeling Arts too.

And then they remembered all these Headless Skeleton friends they got from the Starved Embassy and got the idea to train shaping new bones on their Godfall Pilgrimages ^_^ yay!!

St Stalactite is their new homie btw but they try not to think too hard about their first meeting bc it makes them. sad. for some reason.

anywho, reisz gets weirder and creepier by the day. guess such is the nature of living in the neath......

So, Canada has decided to stop sending arms to Israel after an NDP motion. The Liberals made major amendments to it so as to firmly condemn Hamas as well. It's kind of a mixed bag. Honestly, it's naive of me but I didn't expect there would still be so much outrage, even if the motion did call for an acknowledgement of Palestine as a state. All the Conservatives voted against it - to be fair, some of them wanted to wait for the motion to be passed because the amendments were super last minute and the Bloc Quebecois were annoyed that because of this there wasn't a French translation.

I guess it's a step in the right direction. I think it's still weak but you can read more on it here.

Elide recoiled, and the fire vanished as quickly as it had appeared.

"My name is Essar," the female said softly. "I am a friend--of your friends, I believe."

Elide said nothing.

"Cairn is a monster," Essar said, taking a step closer. "Stay far from him."

"I need to find him."

"You played the part of his mistreated lover well enough. You have to know something about him. What he does."

"If you know where he is, please tell me." She wasn't above begging.

Essar ran an eye over Elide. Then she said, "He was in this city until yesterday. Then he went out to the eastern camp." She pointed with a thumb over a shoulder. "He's there now."

"How do you know?"

"Because he's not terrorizing the patrons of every fine establishment in this town, glutting himself on the coin Maeve gave him when he took the blood oath."

Elide blinked. She had hoped some of the Fae might be opposed to Maeve, especially after the battle in Eyllwe, but to find such outright distaste...

Essar then added, "And because my sister--the soldier you spoke with--told me. She saw him in the camp this morning, smirking like a cat."

"Why should I believe you?"

"Because you are wearing Lorcan's shirt, and Rowan Whitethorn's cloak. If you do not believe me, inform them who told you and they will." Elide cocked her head to the side.

Essar said softly, "Lorcan and I were involved for a time."

They were in the midst of war, and had traveled for thousands of miles to find their queen, and yet the tightness that coiled in Elide's gut at those words somehow found space. Lorcan's lover. This delicate beauty with a bedroom voice had been Lorcan's lover.

"I'll be missed if I'm gone for too long, but tell them who I am. Tell them that I told you. If it's Cairn they seek, that is where he shall be. His precise location, I don't know." Essar backed away a step. "Don't go asking after Cairn at other taverns. He isn't well regarded, even amongst the soldiers. And those who do follow him... You do not wish to attract their interest."

Essar made to turn away, but Elide blurted,

"Where did Maeve go?"

Essar looked over her shoulder. Studied her.

The female's eyes widened. "She has Aelin of the Wildfire," Essar breathed.

Elide said nothing, but Essar murmured, "That was... that was the power we felt the other night." Essar swept back toward Elide. Gripped her hands. "Where Maeve went a few days ago, I don't know. She did not announce it, did not take anyone with her. I often serve her, am asked to... It doesn't matter. What matters is Maeve is not here. But I do not know when she will return."

Relief again threatened to send Elide crumpling to the ground. The gods, it seemed, had not abandoned them just yet.

But if Maeve had taken Aelin to the outpost where they'd lied that the Valg prince had been contained...

Elide gripped Essar's hands, finding them warm and dry. "Does your sister know where Cairn resides in the camp?"

For long minutes, then an hour, they had talked.

Essar left and returned with Dresenda, her sister. And in that alley, they had plotted.

Elide finished telling Rowan, Lorcan, and Gavriel what she'd learned. They sat in stunned silence for a long minute.

"Just before dawn," Elide repeated. "Dresenda said the watch on the eastern camp is weakest at dawn. That she'd find a way for the guards to be occupied. It's our only window."

Rowan was staring into the trees, as if he could see the layout of the camp, as if he were plotting his way in, way out.

"She didn't confirm if Aelin was in Cairn's tent, though," Gavriel cautioned. "Maeve is gone--Aelin might be with her, too."

"It's a risk we take," Rowan said. A risk, perhaps, they should have considered.

Elide glanced to Lorcan, who had been silent throughout. Even though it had been his lover who had helped them, perhaps guided by Anneith herself. Or at least had been tipped off by the scent on Elide's clothes.

"You think we can trust her?" Elide asked Lorcan, though she knew the answer.

Lorcan's dark eyes shifted to her. "Yes, though I don't see why she'd bother."

"She's a good female, that's why," Rowan said.

At Elide's lifted brow, he explained, "Essar visited Mistward this spring. She met Aelin." He cut a glare toward Lorcan. "And asked me to tell you that she sends her best."

Elide hadn't seen anything that came close to pining in Essar's face, but gods, she was beautiful. And smart. And kind. And Lorcan had let her go, somehow.

Like,, Diantha is legit the worst in my initial concept of the villain au, homegirl legitimately did not give a single fuck abt anyone that isn't her brother or Geeta, she actually killed Malva herself and made her own pkmn watch. Her manipulation runs especially deep in Augustine to the point that this man couldn't even talk back in a certain tone to his sister nor could he ever say no to her, so every secret he was told to keep by someone else, he has to tell her, or else. And hey, w Geeta too, she probs killed a man for Dia at one point let's be real, and Dia showered her w praises, telling her she's such a really good friend for doing her that one favour

Idk if you remember but like, that concept w Mom Carnet? Yeah, Diantha wasn't supposed to kill her during that, my first thought of it was that she kept Mom Carnet alive till present time, and tortured her in the basement. Yknow, burning her skin too, hitting her with that rod, engraving her own initials on Mom Carnet's body, laughing at her as she watches her cry and plead for forgiveness, to just kill her, to grant her at least that mercy. But nah, Diantha suffered so long under her mother, it's only fair her mother suffers too. Mom Carnet is still alive tho, like that concept where Cynthia and Augustine tries to look for Dia? Yeah, Augustine was supposed to find Mom Carnet in the basement during that hahah

Dia in the initial concept is an absolute demon spawn, like tragic backstory be damned honestly, she doesn't care abt purging the world of evil or anything, oh no, she just wanted a world where she would be hailed as queen, for people to worship her like the god that she is. Like she really got everyone in Kalos wrapped around her fingers and none of them are any wiser. When she killed Malva, she told everyone that she probably couldn't stand a life without Lysandre, so she followed suit, and the people believed her and they all grieved, but Dia really didn't care, she thought it was funny that they'd grieve over a member of Flare, a useless organization that was ran by an even worthless man

She really knows how to break anyone and make them bow to her will, knows just what they desire, sensual or not, she'll give them just that, give them everything they want, and suddenly she'd take it from them, saying if they don't pledge their loyalty to her, then they'd share the same fate as those who were damned by Arceus

And yknow, the tournament thing happened still, but w this I wanna say Diantha really didn't cause a huge uproar w Yveltal, rather she got Rose assassinated, or she got him kidnapped, and she ends up torturing him the same way she did w Mom Carnet. Like maybe locking him up in a dark and small room, leaving him there for days, until he loses his mind. And for her it's fun to watch him slowly descend to madness, it's fun taunting him on where his little champion is, why isn't he here to save you then? She'd laugh at him, showing him a picture of Leon still living his best life, and then looks at Rose, sneering at him, bc he doesn't care about you. He never did. And basks in the sheer amount of morbid joy she felt when his arrogant look paled, this is what happens I guess, when you try to challenge me

And yeah hahahah this was really fun to write for this ask, but yeah that's like, the tip of the iceberg still ig there's still a whole lot going on but hey hahah
