Damian Wayne headcanon

Damian, trained from birth in the League of Assassins, is an incredible dancer. He was trained to have total control over his body, and one of the best ways to learn that is dance styles like ballet, swing, belly dancing, pole dancing, etc.

The batfam slowly finds this out over the years. Apart from Jason and Cass, as they have the same training. Eventually Tim finds out from his time with the League but that's after a couple years of knowing Damian.

The first is the obvious, waltzing at galas. That's expected, of course Talia would teach Bruce Wayne's son to waltz.

The family goes to one of his school events, and are very surprised to see him doing ballet (Cass and him practice together and she was happy she could share this with her shocked family).

They find out he can swing dance while undercover at some speakeasy club. Tim is undercover as Caroline Hill (and this is post League base explosions), and absolutely has a shit eating grin on his face when he sees Steph's flabbergasted expression across the bar. He later tells her Damian is who taught him to swing dance actually.

Dick tries very hard to forget finding out Damian could pole dance, having been visiting the Iceberg Lounge and not knowing Damian was undercover to keep an eye on a new Penguin deal. He's just glad he's an adult now cause he doesn't think he could bear watching his brother doing that underage without blowing his cover.

Jason and Damian end up undercover as belly dancers for entertainment at some rich fucks compound so they could bust his trafficking ring. Duke still can't forget how mesmerizing they both were (and maybe asks them for tips later, as well as telling Tim the latest batch of Bat™ concealer hid the scars so well he almost didn't believe it was them).

Babs blows everyone's minds when she sends a video of Damian break dancing to the group chat, cause even the League trained bats didn't know he could do that, and Damian just smiles and says he picked it up from watching tiktok videos Jon sends him.

Bruce had always guessed what Ra's and Talia had taught Damian, but each discovery he couldn't help but be amazed and impressed with his son. He pays Babs for videos of his dancing to save in his Proud Dad™ folder.

Lois Lane has a cut out clip of Vicki Vale. Vicki Vale is a journalist in Gotham City. Her first appearance was in Batman #49 (1948) as seen in the panel here (W: Bill Finger, A: Lew Sayre and Bob Kane, I: Charles Paris, L: Ira Schnapp).

Looks like Jimmy is a fan of Legend of Zelda Majora's Mask. Good video game taste.

Jimmy mentions a psychic starfish and the one starfish in the DC universe who is psychic is Starro the Conqueror, who's first appearance is in Brave and the Bold 28 (1960) (the cover art here is done by Mike Sekowsky, Murphy Anderson, and Ira Schnapp) and has the power to mind control people.

Lois, after barging into Perry White's office about a story, mentions Mt. Simonson. This is a neat name drop to Superman: The Man of Steel writer Louise Simonson, one of the nicest comic book writers you'll ever meet. She helped co-create John Henry Irons a.k.a Steel with artist of the Superman: The Man of Steel comic, Jon Bogdanove (really hope we get to see Irons in this show too).

Jon Bogdanove also gets a name drop here as does...

Dan Jurgen, comic book writer and artist on the Superman comic in the 90s (also one of my favorite Superman artists).

Now who are these kids that call themselves the Newskid Legion? Well, they are a VERY deep DC cut and reference to the Newsboy Legion back in the 1940s. The group was created by Joe Simon and Jack Kirby, LEGENDARY comic book creators.

Patty, the cartoonist of the Newskid Legion homages this panel from Adventures of Superman #500 (1993) (W: Karl Kesel, P: Tom Grummet, I: Doug Hazelwood, C: Glenn Whitmore, L: Albert DeGuzman), the first appearance of Superboy, Conner Kent/ Kon-El.

But who is the one below that drawing? We'll his name is in Big Word's word puzzle, in the show. It's Jim Harper, the Guardian.

Jim Harper becomes the Newsboy Legion's legal guardian despite their causing trouble for him. The page here is from Star Spangled Comics #7, the Newsboy Legion and the Guardian's first appearance, by Joe Simon, Jack Kirby, and Whitney Ellsworth. You might've seen the Guardian on the recent Young Justice cartoon.

When Lois, Clark, and Jimmy go investigate about the smuggled robots in Metropolis, Jimmy makes a reference to super intelligent gorillas in France. This is a subtle hint at Monsieur Mallah, the Doom Patrol villain who will be in the show along with his partner, the Brain. Both made their first appearance in Doom Patrol #86 (1964) .

The cover art here is done by Arnold Drake, Bob Brown, and Ira Schnapp.

Later in the episode we see Clark receive his powers and he is surrounded with electricity, giving off Superman Blue vibes when in the comics, Superman gained electricity powers and became Electric Blue Superman who's first appearance was in Superman #123 (1997) (cover art by Dan Jurgens, Joe Rubenstein, Patrick Martin, and Todd Klein.

A while ago, I saw a post or maybe fic that posited Tim using his vigilante voice as a dom, and you know what? That tracks for me. It's his "I'm in command of things, I'm leading people through the situation at hand" voice.

For the same reason, I think other bats would do the same thing (though I don't see many of them as doms). Tim might lean into it harder, because he's a master compartamentalizer, but I can definitely see adult Damian using his Batman voice on adult Jon (they're going to get married someday, your honor, I don't make the rules).

However, I ship both Damian/Jon and Tim/Conner, and that means, some day in the future when they're both staying at Wayne Manor at the same time, both couples might be messing around in their own rooms. Which should be normal and fine. In fact, it will be normal and fine for whichever of them starts first, because I'm assuming Kryptonians learn how to ignore their super-hearing when they're busy with something.

On the other hand, whichever super brother starts second has a good chance of overhearing what's going on in the other room. And that's one hell of a way to discover your partner and his brother share a domming style.

It's an even worse way to find out you and your brother respond the same way.

if anyone was wondering, damijon in my mind is:

10-year-old Jon develops a little crush on the older Damian. Jon age-up happens, it’s been like 6 years now, he does NOT have a crush on Damian anymore. BUT, Damian starts to see Jon in a new light. Damian develops feelings for him without knowing, and he falls HARD. Damian doesn’t realize that what he feels for Jon is love for the LONGEST time. He gets to wait even longer, though, cause Damian has to live with these feelings for the rest of his life!! Yay!!!

what i’m about to say is probably one of the most unpopular opinions in all of the dc fandom, but i think bendis actually saved jonathan kent. he was always destined to be a boring character. a biological kid who grew up with both his parents, taking his father’s legacy? boring. EXPECT. now he is a tragic character. bendis shoved that little no-personality nepo baby into a volcano and gave him a tragic backstory. now he’s not just the ordinary kid who had an ordinary childhood and eventually got handed his father’s title. no, now that’s one traumatised young adult who has no idea how to function as a normal person because he spent his formative years in a volcano. on top of that, him being a nepo baby now screws jon over even more. he gets thrown into his father’s title, because who else will? that’s superman’s SON. surely he should be the one to take the mantle of superman. mantle jon could never live up to. and he has to do all of this in front of the eyes of everyone in the world. with no secret identity to use for just some peace. and when he finally gets his identity back and isn’t the main superman anymore, when he finally has the chance for some rest, he gets kidnapped and turned into a cyborg with no memories of who he is. that’s one tragic mf with enough trauma to feed a planet. seems way more interesting to me than what he was supposed to be, had bendis not interfered.

Thinking about how Kon will be in the next season of MAWS and I’m just begging he’s somewhat canon compliant or drawn from YJ or RotS, because Lois and Clark really cannot afford my adding another Superboy to my au.

I was thinking on it and like, a lot of people point to L&C letting jon go to space during the age up era as ooc compared to previous runs, but like. Is it...? During Tomasi's tenure, they let him hang out with Damian (who kidnapped him and also dragged him into a dangerous mission without alerting ANY adults), they let him BE SUPERBOY (something that got him almost killed numerous times and brainwashed and too many things to list tbh), and if you accept adventures as canon, they had already let him go to space FOR MONTHS lol

if anything, what makes it OOC is this time Lois actually went with to supervise. And this time they actually argued about whether it was even a good idea! Thats the whole emotional plot of Man Of Steel (2018) more or less

Jon and Damian have an argument, Jon says things he doesn't mean, Damian is going to walk away and Jon hugs him and sobs "I'm sorry. I didn't mean any of it. I'm so scared you're going to walk away and I'll lose you and I can't. You're my favorite person, in any universe. Losing you feels like a part of my soul is being ripped out of me. Please I can't– I can't let you go. I don't know how to let go."

Damian stops wrestling from Jon's hold. "You're an idiot, Jon. You're the one who always leaves. I need you and you're not there. Now you claim to want to hold onto me? I don't buy it. Why the change in heart?"

"It's not a change. My heart belongs to you. I created this gulf between us because I'm scared of how powerful you make me feel. I would do anything for you. Even if you never asked me to. I want to be yours, more than anything I've ever wanted before. How did we get here?"

"If you really mean it… don't let go." Damian returned Jon's embrace. "Don't leave me again. Don't let me fall apart without you. You're an idiot and a hick but you're mine. You can't string me along anymore. If you don't want forever, you'll have to say it."

"I want forever. Nothing could make me happier."

Damian surges up on his tippy toes and kisses Jon. It feels like two puzzle pieces clicking together. Jon lifts Damian up and swings him around, so happy he's crying. Damian wipes his tears.

"Don't cry. You're safe."

"I know. And it feels so good." He nuzzles Damian's cheek. "I love you." Jon's chest rumbles like a silent purr.

"I love you too. Now let me down."

"I promised I wouldn't let you go~ I guess you're just stuck in the air now."

Damian grumbles but he's unable to hide his grin.

SURPRISE! I'm covering something I never would've thought I would, the first two episodes of Adult Swim's My Adventures with Superman. In short, it was f*cking GREAT. I am so looking forward to watching more of Clark Kent's origin story play out, how his relationship with Lois Lane will unfold, and how he and Jimmy Olsen will be put to the test in their new internship at the Daily Planet, all while contending with a shocking villain.
