Members of a private WhatsApp group, including billionaires like the CEO of Dell and the former CEO of Starbucks, allegedly used the chat to discuss ways to pressure New York City Mayor Eric Adams to use police to crack down on Gaza solidarity protests at the city’s universities, according to The Washington Post. AJ+ has not seen the chat messages referenced in The Washington Post’s report directly. ⁣
NYPD officers raided encampments at schools like Columbia University and the City College of New York, arresting close to 200 protesters in just one day. The police raid at Columbia in late April was the first on-campus mass arrest in 50 years, with police using riot gear and military-grade weapons against mostly peaceful protesters. ⁣
While Gaza solidarity encampments have been frequently targeted with violence by police and pro-Israel agitators – and over 2,200 people have been arrested – a study found that out of over 550 Gaza protests at U.S. universities, 97% have been peaceful. ⁣

hey y'all, with all the protests going on, here is your friendly reminder to NOT TALK TO COPS
whatever you do, do NOT talk to ANY cops. do not answer any questions. do not give them ANY information unless you are LEGALLY REQUIRED TO. if they ask you a question, ask them if you're required by LAW to reply. if they say yes, ask them WHICH LAW EXACTLY.
some cops WILL try to trick you to get information out of you. give them NOTHING unless they prove that you have to by law. if you're arrested, comply and WAIT TO TALK TO A LAWYER. do not tell them ANYTHING until you have a lawyer.
i'm so serious, don't even nod or shake your head. don't comment on any of your intentions. the smallest thing could be an admission of guilt, which just makes your lawyer's job much more difficult. as soon as you come into contact with the police, you are a STATUE. you say nothing, you do nothing, you have no opinions.
stay safe, love you all, free palestine <3
EDIT- MAKE SURE YOU SAY THE WORDS "I AM INVOKING MY RIGHT TO REMAIN SILENT" OR THE COPS WILL TRY TO GET YOU IN TROUBLE FOR "NOT COMPLYING" 🍉

just need to share how much I dislike this post lol
people will fully expect trans men to put ourselves on the line for everyone else and meanwhile the only time they acknowledge our existence is to talk about how "low risk" we are (obviously untrue) or to volunteer us out as a community for potentially dangerous activist endeavors that they wouldn't risk doing themselves
"we need to get uncomfortable!" and what's actually being discussed is convincing a subset of the community to be uncomfortable on your behalf while you do nothing to show solidarity with us

It is vital that we keep the efforts of so many students across the United States from going to waste. We need to keep the momentum going and ensure that news of the cruelty happening to the people of Palestine is not ignored or suppressed.
Despite what many news outlets may have you believe, what is happening in our world is not minor in the slightest. It is a genocide that is happening before our eyes, day after day. Do not forget the administrative responses these colleges have given to the act of bringing attention this inhumanity. This is history happening now, and these colleges are on the wrong side of it.
These students are calling to divest college funds from Israel. Do not let the media warp their efforts and paint them as an antisemitic mob. Do not let those opposing these demonstrations hide behind claims of antisemitism to justify their actions. This is about stopping human suffering, and to believe anything different is willful ignorance.

LGBTQ Muslims Call for Permanent Ceasefire in Front of Stonewall
One-hundred LGBTQ Muslims gathered for a jummah prayer for Palestine in front of the Stonewall National Monument on Friday to demonstrate that there is “no pride in genocide.” “Queer Muslim New Yorkers are rising up in solidarity with Palestinians, and through a queer Muslim-led interfaith prayer, they will stand in solidarity with the Palestinian people who are facing genocide, starvation, and ethnic cleansing at the hands of the Israeli government backed by the United States, organizers said in a statement. “Queer communities face historical discrimination, prejudice, violence, criminalization, lack of proper healthcare and/or gender affirming care, and more — and here in the U.S. queer activists have been rising up against increased LGBTQ+ attacks, yet their struggles are being exploited in a dangerous narrative war to suggest that there would be no place for queer people in Palestine,”

May Aaron rest in peace. His values and the legacy he leaves behind is one of humanity. Society has failed, to the point where we must go up in flames to request a natural obligation such as freedom.
