THE WEDDING WENT GREAT IN CASE YOU WERE WONDERING!!! Sam genuinely considered going through with it, as a mercy to this man who was clearly self-destructing and entirely unable to stop himself, but lost his temper when Poor Edward kicked his kid. Fortunately the kiddo is smart & kind enough to get them all the best ending.......... trapping Poor Edward in a nightmare forever by making him fall in love with it!!!!! I was REALLY taken with the description that being a nightmare is all Edward has ever wanted; like I guess it could just be his chemically altered feelings but IT RINGS TRUE TBH. LIKE YEAH, THAT MAKES.... HIS WHOLE DEAL MAKE A LOT OF SENSE ACTUALLY
anyway CAN WE TALK ABOUT EDWARD JUST BEING A CUTE ROSY-CHEEKED BOY UNDER THERE??????????????? I'm still not over this revelation. horrible nightmare man wears weird mask to hide his dark secret: he's cursed with the body of the softest fairest boy in all the land

DATV Spoilers - The Handling of Previous Story/Lore In DATV
Quick PSA: If you’ve read my post on the lore/story threads dropped – it’s not a list of what I expected or even wanted to see addressed/answered in DATV.
It’s pretty much a given that Kieran and the Architect were never going to come back in any meaningful way, I understand that. Questions about what happened to Anora, Anders, Cullen’s clinic etc...never expected to get an answer about them – at all. The line of succession in Ferelden and Orlais? I expected that sometime down the line it would have to be streamlined into one option for both nations, not a problem – there’s so many choices it’s impossible to account for, and I understand that.
This is just a list of plot threads left unanswered that will, most likely, remain unanswered.
There’s no DLC planned – the team is working on Mass Effect 5 now. There’s no conclusion to the fate of the south of Thedas outside of some codex entries and some dialogue. They can patch the Executors cutscene out, maybe - perhaps they could even do the same to anything relating to the south of Thedas. Yes, these areas were not completely destroyed by the Blight – they can rebuild – but it comes across as being so meaningless that I ever cared for these places in the first place. To learn that after ten years of waiting all we cared for get devastated and left in limbo...it’s hard to put into words the bitterness I felt at that realization, and seeing that final cut-scene drove the nail into the coffin of how foolish I felt for even caring in the first place.
A codex entry or letter would have been nice – but my expectations for DATV was solely for a good story that added to the lore and world of Thedas. Instead, it felt entirely reductive – glaringly so when you account for the ‘Executives’ twist.
The world of Thedas has been watered down and its worldbuilding/lore diminished - slavery in Tevinter is non-existent, the Crows being an organization that indoctrinated children is never touched upon, any mystery of ancient Tevinter and the elves is answered (badly!), the Dalish have effectively disappeared and become the Veil Jumpers...it all feels so hollow, so shallow, that I ever cared about these things in the first place.
The issue is that the dev’s gave us only three choices, told us that as the story was contained to the north of Thedas – that our other choices weren’t relevant to the rest of the game with their intent being to not effect anyone's head-canons...before doing so with ‘the blight has devastated most of everywhere you went previously’.
These were story/plot threads that were woven throughout the narrative of the first three games – the things that made me care and become invested in the world of Thedas to begin with. In a game that was set-up to be a direct sequel to Inquisition and Trespasser I hoped that, at least, what was brought up in Inquisition would be mentioned.
Perhaps my list is a little too detailed with plot threads and issues – if anything that can be attributed to the incredible world-building done in the first three games! I love those games, I love the world of Thedas...which is why this game utterly baffles me with its choices.
Dragon Age: The Veilguard is a good game but not a good Dragon Age game.
----------------------------------
Edit: DATV absolutely has a lot of problems outside of its handling of the lore and story of the previous games. I would not say its a good rpg in any sense, but as a weird 'action-adventure rpg lite' game I did have some fun moments and enjoy myself. Would I recommend it to anyone? Absolutely not.
I heard someone describe it as a 'junk food' game and I very much agree with that statement. I found enjoyment in it, but to do so I usually had to turn off my brain, which is not a compliment towards DATV.
The game released very well optimized (especially considering how most companies are content to release half-baked games and patch them later) and did create some really interesting visual set-pieces like the Battle of Weisshaupt. But those moments I enjoyed were few and far between, and far overwhelmed by the negatives of the game - such as story, lack of conversation/conflict/role-play options, bad character writing etc...
Calling the game 'good' is, perhaps, a stretch, and I totally get that. Calling it 'mediocre with some good parts' may be more accurate.

skeleton crew finale spoilers under the cut!
what I find so interesting about jod is that we already knew he wouldn’t kill the kids. he had been presented with that option more than once and chose not to. it’s a line he won’t cross. we also know now that he was saved by a jedi as a child, and that the people who executed her forced him to watch
despite his threats from the previous episode, he really doesn’t want to kill fara or wendle. he knows what it’s like to lose an adult that you admire, a caretaker. as jealous as he was of these kids and their ‘perfect’ childhoods, jod was never going to become the people who took his mentor from him

Heart's Choice WIP announcement: Heart of the Mountain by Fay Ikin
Heart of the Mountain is a new Heart's Choice text game by Fay Ikin, the author of Heart of Battle and Asteroid Run: No Questions Asked. It's in the same setting as Heart of Battle, with a new MC and totally standalone.
Play Chapter 1 here! Fay would love to hear whatever feedback you have if you have a moment - either on the forum, or send it to me and I'll pass it on to her as she's not on here.
-
The war between the Coritan Republic and Messimera has been over for years, but as a magician you’ll never be free of your duties to your country.
With control over warmth and heat energy, you’ve been sent to a remote Messimeran outpost, where a small group of soldiers from both sides have been tasked to cooperate and guard the northernmost demilitarized zone…where your predecessor went mysteriously missing.
If anyone crosses the mountain pass or the frozen waterway, the peace treaties could fail. It’s frigid, isolated work, and monotonous until a mysterious fellow magician falls at your doorstep hiding dangerous secrets. Will you welcome your kind, or support your colleagues’ suspicions of them?
Everyone has their own agenda - and their own secrets to guard. When their goals oppose each other, who will you support and who will you stand against? Who will you keep close when your magic starts to fail, when paranoia and fear strike the outpost? A mysterious force within the mountain threatens to topple everything your country has worked for. What are you willing to lose to survive - your livelihood, your love, or your magic itself?
Heart of the Mountain is set in the same setting as Heart of Battle, 4-5 years later. All of the characters are new for this game, though backstory elements can have some familiar notes from the previous game. You won’t need to have played Heart of Battle to play this game.
I’m aiming for 3 or 4 chillies - some sex scenes are very explicit, and some will (at the reader’s choice) feature some intense kinky experiences.
As with Heart of Battle, it’s v/v. The MC can be a man (cis, trans or non-specified), woman (cis, trans or non-specified) or non-binary person (AMAB, AFAB, or not specified); the love interests are selectable between cis man/cis woman/non-binary.
There are four characters alongside the MC - everyone the MC interacts with is romanceable and plot relevant, and the conflict between different love interests’ goals and ambitions drives the plot.
All the characters have the possibility of a happy ending, but on some high-conflict routes some characters can become hostile antagonists
There are currently some polyamorous options planned: Eleri/Felician/MC, and Stelare/Theano/MC.
Romance Options:
Captain Felician Resende
GRIEVING OFFICER from the Coritan Republic
Felician’s magician best friend, the MC’s predecessor, went missing a month ago: a devastating loss Felician is still struggling to accept. With bad experiences with magic in the war, and a lingering deep distrust of magic, Felician’s trying hard to keep it out of the way of professional - or personal - relationships.
Best Felician: honorable, go-getting, enthusiastic
Worst Felician: inflexible, manic, controlling
What to say: “I agree, a five mile hike is a perfect team-building opportunity!”
What not to say: “I hope you don’t mind, I’ve made some amendments to your chore chart!”
-
Sergeant Eleri Katsaros
CONFLICTED ENGINEER from Messimera
You can’t get secrets out of Eleri with a prybar, but it’s still obvious that Sergeant Katsaros bitterly regrets whatever happened during the war. So now, here’s someone committed to being kind while frozen with shame. Eleri can’t imagine being called a good person, let alone believing it.
Best Eleri: Idealistic, practical, reliable
Worst Eleri: Fatalistic, brittle, volatile
What to say: “Let’s stay up until four in the morning to do inventory. In silence.”
What not to say: “I’ll only give you your toolbox back if you can name five things you like about yourself.”
-
Doctor Theano Leventis
MISANTHROPIC PHYSICIAN from Messimera
“Doctor Leventis has the potential to be a shining star of the Messimeran Army…if only Leventis could match talent with compassion”.
This, like other performance reviews, Theano has disregarded as ‘pointless sap’. There’s little point in babying other people’s emotions when there’s any number of things to do instead: music, reading, gambling, scientific analysis…you name it, Theano can do it. Unless it requires a bedside manner.
Best Theano: Creative, progressive, perceptive
Worst Theano: Bitter, destructive, dismissive
What to say: “Why would we be emotionally vulnerable with each other when we could get drunk and pass out instead?”
What not to say: “I’m sorry, but the future of the outpost relies on your ability to give me a convincing hug.”
-
Stelare Belmonte
FLIGHTY MAGICIAN from the Coritan Republic
Magic academy washout, army washout, an Illustrious’ magickeeper’s washout, an arena designer washout…is there anything Stelare can’t get fired from for ‘wilful disobedience and lack of adherence to basic safety’?
Stelare has telekinetic magic: the application of force to move and manipulate the world. But instead of being indispensable, Stelare has happily embraced the label of ‘massive liability’ and the freedom that comes with it. But what exactly is the plan on this remote, classified mountaintop?
At their best: Passionate, ambitious, protective
At their worst: Unpredictable, careless, vindictive
What to say: “I made you some hot chocolate, the others are so jealous!”
What not to say: “You don’t scare me…you’re just mediocre.”

I’m back from my coma to talk about Nimona again
Specifically these scenes
Because this is the moment where the similarities between Gloreth and Ambrosius’ stories end
Tumblr media Tumblr media
At face value, these scenes seem incredibly similar
In both scenes, Gloreth and Ambrosius are watching terrified as their homes are burning down around them because of a “monster”
But that’s where the similarities stop
Because in the first scene, Gloreth decides to listen to everything that her community has told her
And in the second scene, Ambrosius has finally figured out that everything he’s been told since he was a kid is a lie

Welp, I just did the embrace Bhaal ending with Daedra and I gotta say, this is objectively the worse ending. And it is very much the ending I never wanted for her. Because this was always going to be the ending for a Durge who embraced Bhaal. And Minthara being killed was always going to be her ending too. What makes all of this worse is that Minthara saw it coming too, she just did not realize it.
Tumblr media
When she first tells you about Orin, she criticizes Orin by saying that if she could turn the plot of the Absolute towards slaughter, she would take it. Minthara also criticizes Orin for wanting to be Daddy's Little Girl who would do anything to please Bhaal. She perceives these to be character flaws within Orin. Sadly her analysis is incorrect, because these are innate characteristics of Bhaalspawn in general, including Durge. All Bhaalspawn are born with the same urges: kill other Bhaalspawn, breed more Bhaalspawn, and then kill everything. Of course, a Bhaalspawn can fight these urges. But it is a never ending fight, one we see Durge struggle with throughout the entire story. They only "beat" these urges by having Bhaal's blood removed from them.
But because Minthara sees these as character flaws within Orin, she fails to see them in Durge as well. And when Minthara learns that Durge is a Bhaalspawn, of course she is elated. Durge is the child of a god. A deeply religious Minthara would obviously admire that, almost as far as borderline worshiping Durge (cause old habits die hard). She truly believes that Durge is nothing like Orin and would never be anything like Orin, and she has to believe this to be true because she does not want to be afraid of Durge like she is of Orin.
Despite popular belief, Minthara is indeed capable of love and has a strong desire for it. I have always read Minthara as a person who strongly wants what she feels she cannot have. And in Menzoberranzan, genuine love is frowned upon (or at least making it known). So of course she wants it. And there is no shame in that. It is trust that she struggles with, and she always has good reason to be distrustful. And the moment she became an exile, we see her start to deconstruct her previous ways of life, but with great difficulty as it is hard to let go of the only things you have ever known. She wants to love, she wants to trust, she doesn't want to be afraid, and she doesn't want to kill her lovers.
Thanks to the business with the Absolute, Minthara finds herself in a unique position in which she actually can read someone else's mind. And for the first time in her life, she has guaranteed certainty that the person that she loves won't hurt her, or betray her, or use and abuse her, or kill her. And that was a promise Durge made to her. And so she openly embraced Durge with everything that she has and becomes devoted.
Sadly, devotion is Minthara's fatal flaw. There is nothing wrong with being devoted to someone or some god, of course. But Minthara is too devoted in which her devotion makes her blind, and she has spent so much of her life being devoted to someone other than herself, and she does not know how to live a life without being devoted to someone. She does not realize the crux of her devotion until she is turned into a sacrificial lamb by Orin. It is Minthara who questions the worth of devotion if it only leads to death and she starts to become a little more selective of who she devotes herself to. Cause she was once devoted to Orin and was willing to be devoted to Bhaal if given the chance, and yet she was still put on that altar. But this never happens if Orin never takes her.
Edit: I forgot that Patch 7 added in the second part of Minthara's dialogue about Orin. Meaning Minthara can still come to question the worth of devotion, even without being a kidnap victim to Orin. However, she questions her devotion after Durge has made their choice in regards to Bhaal. Despite her beginning to question devotion, she still remains devoted to Durge as she perceives Durge as her savior, and not being like Lolth or the Absolute or Bhaal.
Her devotion to Lolth, still ended with her being abandoned (or so she feels) and left vulnerable to the Absolute, because her devotion to Lolth did not make her an exception. Her devotion to the Absolute still led to her mind being ripped apart, because her devotion to the Absolute did not make her an exception. Minthara may be of a feline nature, but she does not have nine lives and cannot always get lucky. Every time she has devoted herself to someone, it always led her close to the grave. Her devotion to Durge, encouraging Durge to embrace who they are, will get her rewarded with death. And death was always going to be her reward.
Tumblr media
And of course she thinks this could never happen to her. She read Durge's mind and Durge did show her that they would never hurt her. That Durge would never do to her what Lolth or the Absolute did, or even previous lovers did to her. That her devotion would be rewarded with mutual devotion. But this is coming from a Durge who has not embraced Bhaal just yet and does not yet want to become Daddy's Special Baby. And Minthara is not stupid for believing that Durge was sincere. No one wants to believe that the person that they love would ever hurt them. That does not make someone stupid or weak. Minthara could only read Durge's mind, not Durge's future.
When Durge embraces Bhaal, she still believes them to be the same exact person with the same exact desires as when she read their mind. Durge has finally followed her advice and embraced themselves, become exactly what she always saw them to be. Durge is now on the path to ascension, to true godhood. And Minthara's proximity to it all will keep her safe from all threats because she would be that god's consort. She can finally have a life without fear or distrust. She will have a god to worship, someone to love, and a new house in Durge's name. She will have everything she could have ever wanted and all she had to do was be devoted. All she had to do was be herself.
In that moment, her devotion to Durge makes her blind to the reality that Durge has changed and has become the very thing she herself criticized about Orin. She still believes that Durge won't hurt her and that Durge won't use the Absolute as a tool for slaughter. Her devotion makes her blind to the fact that Bhaal is like Lolth and the Absolute and most certainly will use Durge like a puppet. Her devotion makes her blind to the reality that Durge has only become a master of their urges, because they are willfully giving in to them and no longer fighting them. And the urge wants to kill everything, no exceptions. Her devotion makes her blind to the knife that Durge will inevitably turn against her, because her devotion was never going to make her an exception.

What in the Clown Car Nonsense????
iDrigibles operate on displacement. this Is Actually Impossible under standard consideration
Tumblr media
like seriously, that's like a hundred aircrafts at least! Even in the most space effective canister you can't store that much gas! and if they took the gas out of the castle's gasbag that only raises more questions!
And that's just the Gas! where were the gondolas??? Where were the Ribs???? Where in God's Name did they have this much ballast???? the sheer mass of stuff depicted here Blows my mind!!
I can posit a few mitigating strategies?? That make this less outrageously impossible:
majority of these structures are Collapsible and were in storage.
they have either no ballast or almost no ballast, and so they have no power to ascend. incredibly dangerous when there's this many crafts in the sky, but at least that results in a logisticlaly possible to distribute and launch in a such a tight timeframe
the castle is falling because more than half it's buoyant load went to these support craft (I hope this one isn't true, it would be such a waste of an engineering marvel and also Gil's childhood home)
the castle has a patently absurd amount of gas transported in canisters, if so, presumably in the name of an occasion exactly like this one.
the castle had the facilities to keep and/or create large quantities of buoyant gasses so cold that they're solids
a device comparable to Agatha and Gil's improved Lightning generator, or more likely several such devices, are being used to unfuse a huge volume of water into Hydrogen and Oxygen. I am more than slightly alarmed by the implied high voltage near high oxygen concentration this implies, but emergency solutions are not always themselves recommended practice (since theoretically this kind of evacuation would be for exceedingly dangerous happenings, so the threat becomes relative) (and begs the question once more of what the devil is going on here?!?)

This is the story I am working on right now! It's the Immortal!Gojo story. It was inspired by a misconception, and the very concrete idea that Gojo seemed to understand what a high school was exclusively through television. The center of it is Geto and Gojo, but I don't really respect Geto as a person, so whenever I write Geto/Gojo it always ends up....uh, interesting.
A little bit for you:
Gojo identified the problem quickly.
Granted, this was partly because he created the problem. That was Geto’s stance, and Gojo reliably found Geto fairly wise for his age. Gojo argued that the Council of Elders had basically committed suicide by proxy by aggravating him. Geto had said that there was no use arguing that sentence, which Gojo interpreted as admitting that he was right.
“The world of sorcerers has a manpower problem,” Gojo said, sloshing around his imported tea in his finely painted cup. Servants skittered around the edges of the courtyard, heads ducked. Civil servants and advisors pressed their ears against paper doors. Holding this meeting in the Gojo clan compounds would have been less ostentatious, but it wouldn’t have been as fun. “Sorcerers are always dropping like flies, and our noble families constantly waste burgeoning talent in their own families. We kill each other in constant infighting and do the curse’s job for them. It’s just a waste.”
Geto just sipped his tea, prim and unflappable. He could walk into any room and make himself seem like he belonged. Gojo had hoped that walking into the Emperor’s palace as if he owned the place and casually using his private tea garden would impress him just a little, but he barely blinked. “Agreed. Murdering each other through infighting is certainly a waste.”
“Suicide by proxy.”
“As you say, Gojo-sama.”
“I do say,” Gojo said, a little huffily. He jabbed a finger at Geto, who only raised a single eyebrow. “You’re part of the reason I began thinking of this at all, you know. How many incredible talents like yours slipped completely past us just because there was no sorcerer in their boring village to train them?”
Quietly, Geto muttered, “Or because their boring village killed them for being different.”
Geto had barely survived his own village, which was one of the funnier origin stories Gojo had heard lately. “And what happens if the civilian-born sorcerer does manage to survive and find a community of sorcerers? They’re shunned! The powerful turn up their nose, call them garbage, and treat them like burakumin. The amount of valuable sorcerers we’ve lost to pride, exclusivity - the elders just feel threatened by newcomers, you know. They were threatened by you. If it wasn’t for me, nobody would have ever picked you up and trained you.”
Geto sipped his tea. “I’m very grateful.”
“Of course you are, I saved your life. And you made me think about how many more lives I could save.” Gojo leaned forward, tilting his head and flashing a winning grin. Geto arched a second eyebrow patiently. “I can only take so many apprentices at once. Teaching children one or two at a time is just too slow. So do you know what my idea was?”
“What was your idea, Gojo-sama?”
Gojo leaned back, adjusting his loose kimono and gesturing vaguely in the air. A servant dived in instantly, bowing her head and topping up their cups of half-drunk matcha. Those Tokugawas really hoarded all of the good stuff.  “I’m going to found a monastery. An active, worldly monastery, in the heart of this new capital. The first generation of the Sect of Gojo! What do you think! Doesn’t that have a nice ring to it?”
Disappointingly, Geto just looked amused. He was impossible to impress these days. He had been far more impressionable a few years ago. He acclimated to Gojo quicker than most. Most sorcerers had known him their entire lives, and a few reds and blues were still enough to dazzle them. Not Geto. He was a unique boy. “With you in the place of the Buddha, I presume?”
“Obviously.”
“Say that a little louder, Gojo-sama. I’m interested.”
“Anything to amuse my ferocious student.” Gojo cleared his throat, raising his voice until he could be heard clearly across the entire courtyard. Knowing the impressive sound of his own voice, probably much further. Maybe even the Emperor was listening? “Gojo Satoru is the next Buddha! He possesses the mandate of heaven!” The words echoed across the courtyard, and Gojo waited patiently for the sound to die down. If Geto thought that the Emperor might pop up to - what, scold them? He was sorely disappointed. “See? Nothing happened. You’ll be my first student, right?”
“I’m already your student.”
“You can be my first priest. Never mind, priests are a pain. It’s not about the monastery aspect, Geto. I don’t care about that. Being worshiped grows dull quickly. I want to train the next generation of new sorcerers.” Gojo broke into a smile, jabbing a finger at Geto. This was the fine point on the idea. This would really interest him. “I’ll train those who the old clans won’t touch. Any undesirable, any rejected or exiled progeny, any commoner-born sorcerer - I’ll take anybody who nobody else wants. And they’ll all be loyal only to me. What do you think?”
Strangely, Gojo found himself holding his breath. Geto didn’t outwardly react or say anything for a long time. He just took a sip of his tea, eyes closed in thought. Geto waited until five exact seconds before Gojo’s patience wore out before he spoke.
“It sounds perfect, Gojo-sama.”
Gojo beamed. Mission accomplished. Geto wasn’t a completely controllable factor - a compliant one, yes, but not controllable - so he always felt accomplished whenever he successfully made him do or feel something. It wasn’t even a guarantee: sometimes Gojo entered a conversation with Geto meaning to convince him of one thing, only for the conversation to end turned around on its head with Gojo believing something completely different instead. It was mostly fascinating and occasionally annoying.
“So you’ll join, yes?”
Geto replaced his cooling cup on the tea table. A carefully manicured stream coursed in front of them, and shafts of bamboo waved in a cool wind. It was a good day to co-opt the Emperor’s palace. One ought to take tea with their favorite apprentices when possible. They wouldn’t be around forever.
“Of course I will. You aren’t done training me yet, are you?”
“You have a lot left to learn.” Gojo mock-wagged a finger at him. “I won’t let you go until you reach your full potential, Geto. You could approach my power one day. People like you shouldn’t go to waste just because others feel threatened by you. You’re too entertaining.”
Geto smiled, eyes creasing shut. “I hope to continue entertaining you for a long time, Master.”
“That’s what I like to hear!”
It hadn’t been for Geto. It had been for Gojo. Geto had only given him the idea - shown him how talented the overlooked could be. He had seen too many driven, intelligent, and kind children reduced to servitude within their clans for the crime of being ‘untalented’.
A good master could take even the lowest potential student and make them a powerful sorcerer. By throwing out children with low potential, the other masters were just admitting their limitations and incompetencies. Gojo - who had no limitations, no incompetencies - would always be capable of doing what they were too short-sighted to even see could be done. Gojo operated on a different plane of existence, and within his six sights he could see the long centuries stretching out before them.
The curses were only growing in strength. The world of the sorcerers could not afford to cannibalize forever. Through weakening themselves by tearing out their own flesh, they would be consumed. And the sorcerers would…and Geto would…
Maybe Geto had a little to do with it. Maybe it had been for Geto just a little bit: to assuage his troubled heart, his nightly confessions that he couldn’t watch any more sorcerers die. Gojo didn’t tell him that for a very long time. But Gojo was sure that Geto had always known anyway.
Geto was a little omniscient like that. Of course, not as omniscient as Gojo.
