It doesn't even surprise Stephen, not at all, because... well, as said, Tony does strike him as a man who could become curious about such things - so here he is, sending him those texts, and the sorcerer takes a deep breath as he feels a hint of something wash through him.

Feels like disappointment. Fuck, he does not want to feel this way; Tony is just Tony, after all, and he can have whoever he wants at any given time - he sure as hell is much more interested in other people than Strange anyways.

Still sucks, in one way or another.

Some things that really BREAK me about The Scene™️

The way Blitzo doesn’t hesitate for a SECOND to run after Stolas when he realized he was walking out the door

The fear in Blitzo’s eyes when Stolas said goodbye

Additionally how scared Blitzo looked here when Stolas said “you don’t have to stay with me” thinking Stolas was kicking him out

Blitzo begging Stolas to give him a second chance

Stolas being SO fucking soft and gentle when explaining to blitz why he got him the crystal. His neverending unconditional love and support of Blitz and his business.

“I want you too. I want you to stay here with me- because you want too. Only if you want too”

The anguish when he realizes (or thinks he realizes) that blitzo doesn’t feel the same.

The notification of a new text incoming distracts Stephen from the app he's currently scrolling through; It only shows a hint of what Tony, of all people, seems to have sent to him mere seconds ago: 'On a scale of one to ten, how many---'

Blinking, taking another sip of his tea, the sorcerer hums as he closes the app, then opens his messages; And, upon reading the whole thing, his eyes widen briefly. ... He blinks. Twice. Rereads the text. Blinks again. Takes another sip of tea.

Is this real? Or is this some kind of joke? He's heard that some people do challenges nowadays, sending texts to others and then show which reactions they get...

America does that sometimes, has managed to embarrass Strange one or two times already. Tony, even though he is much older than her, technically strikes him as a man who would participate in such challenges himself, so...

it’s very easy to tell the good satires and pastiches from the bad ones because the bad ones are too afraid to live within the form. like if you are doing work with fairy tales and you are refusing to look closer at the underlying logic and unspoken rules of what can seem at first to be a senseless form, you are not going to create meaningful work. to borrow a turn of phrase originally used by maria tatar, if you refuse to enter “the house of fairy tale” as anything more than a gawking tourist, you will miss the particular order to the way the table is set, the rooms that are locked vs the rooms that are simply difficult to enter, the set of the floorboards and the position of the furniture. whatever you build will then be a gilded imitation of how you believe the house of fairy tale ought to look, the table set according to your educated specifications and every door open. there can be no interrogation of themes from a writer who views the form as beneath them!
