Finally saw the Gen V cameo. Gotta say it didn't feel like Soldier Boy to me at all. Like there was a huge disconnect that they tried to fill up with the most vulgar things they could have him say. His whole rhythm, tone, and movements all felt extremely off from his portrayal in The Boys. Even the "I fart the Star-Spangled-Banner" and "It was pretty romantic" lines felt off. Like they felt more like Jensen with a tint of Dean ("I'm red-blooded. But not Commie red. Red, white, and blue red") than they did Soldier Boy. (his tone even sounded like a mix of Dean and Beau most of the time suffering from a cold; and would Soldier Boy really know what a "fuckboi" is or who the Jonas Brothers are? He didn't even know "internet" or "GPS") It was like they were trying to shove something into a box where it didn't belong, if that makes sense.
But saying all of that, I wonder if it felt this way because it was supposed to, since we were technically in Cate's mind and this was her "imaginary friend". So maybe it was supposed to feel off? And that's why we get the messed-with Captain America theme that we do when he arrives? 🤔

It's really weird seeing the discourse over Alina's ending in the books, where people hated her loosing her powers and living off in some farm with Mal, only to turn around and go "but if she was with the Darkling-". This take completely ignores the fact that, in the books, Alina never truly wanted her powers nor did she want to be in the spotlight. Sure she had things to work out and everything, and may have even grown to find solace in her abilities but that doesn't necessarily mean she became less when she lost them (a narrative that some seem to think?)
It also ignores how much trauma the Darkling had put her through--from him harassing/grooming her, to making her have to constantly look over her shoulder for a big chunk of her life, and so much more. If you didn't like her ending, that's fine, but don't go around pretending as if her staying with the Darkling would have been any better. It also feels like a lot of projection going around with people thinking she's suddenly living a bad life simply because she choose to live out the rest of her time with her partner and working at an orphanage, something that she is entitled to do so after everything she went through. It's also nor like she's struggling financially, like come on, her friends are literal royals, she is fine.
It also seems like a lot of people go and take an easy route of simply ignoring her relationship with Mal, seeming just to hate it and view it as unimportant, when that also takes away from valuable aspects of her character. Mal is important to her, whether people like it or not, just as much as she's important to him (like are we going to ignore how he risked everything to go and find her? Literally being labeled a deserter!) Do I think there are some codependent elements at times? Yes, but that doesn't mean that both can't work through that and become better. That is one thing I will give the show credit for, which is having them not only verbally state that, but show Mal going off to find out more for himself, but people still used that as an opportunity to hate on him. Like 🙄.

Sooooo I was thinking about the impending Winchesters finale tonight (I'm still currently working my way through ep 9, don't think I'll finish the rest before the finale airs tbh) and I've seen the chatter about the possible big reveal being that Dean has been messing around with timelines. (and if so, all power to him honestly)
But that got me thinking. If that's the case...does that explain all of the huge blunders we've seen in this show thus far? Is this how canon will be "restored"? 🤔 (I always kind of thought it was an AU world/dimension myself even though we know Chuck destroyed all of those)
Is it possible what we thought may have been bad writing or underdeveloped characters or whatever the legitimate criticisms were...was all of that intentional? That this universe is not supposed to feel like SPN at all? And that's why Dean doesn't sound like Dean even though we know Jensen is more than capable of replicating the Dean voice after 15+ years? That maybe that's why the Holy Water Hair Trick and Holy Water suddenly working on vampires. Maybe that's why the Akrida. Maybe that's why Samuel Campbell looked like an Indiana Jones stand-in in the pilot. Maybe that's why the demons themselves felt so off and have barely been featured past the first episode. I don't really know but I'm just throwing it out there.
And I'm talking story wise. I know there's a lot going on bts that obviously disproves this theory but I was just thinking out loud, wondering if this is what Robbie Thompson will double down to tell the story and explain everything away as well as Dean's appearance all in one shot.

Me: *logs in and sees people talking about what Misha said about the 15x18 confession scene at this most recent con he attended & antis once again are bending over backwards to discredit it all, him, and the scene*
Also me:
Tumblr media
Must be that time again.
So, without further ado...
Here's some key points to remember (for those who weren't around for when the 15x18 scene dropped and what actually happened):
Jensen agreed to do it - Regardless of whether Misha spoke to Jensen about the scene or Berens or whoever, the point is Jensen agreed to it - regardless of whether you believe Misha dropped it on him or not - Misha himself said that if Jensen hadn't agreed, the ILY wouldn't have happened
Jensen wasn't forced - Jensen was not forced to do the scene; a good contrast is Dean's death scene in 15x20, he may not have agreed with Dean dying and how he died (who would, honestly?) but he did fight for Dean to die standing on his feet & won that battle - had he truly been that uncomfortable with the 15x18 ILY scene or confession as a whole, he could have fought for it to be "less gay" if that was the case or no ILY from Cas and just like with the barn scene, they would have been forced to capitulate in an area or two that would have made him more comfortable
The Phone Video - Jensen has stated publicly that he had a crew member film the scene on his phone so he could remember it as Jensen and not Dean - if he was truly bitter and "disgusted" as these antis suggest or he hated the scene or felt forced to do it, why ask someone to film it for him and why go on record to say you had it filmed (if it was, as some of you suggest, filmed for possible evidentiary reasons)?
Reaction Videos - Jensen has also stated publicly that he and Misha exchanged reaction videos to the scene from YouTube - this is something Jensen himself said, not Misha - if he hated the scene and felt forced, why the exchanging of reactions to said scene with the person who forced you to do it or tricked you into it?
The Editing Mention - Jensen publicly mentioned that there was a lot more to the scene that the editor(s) took out in the editing process, particularly in regards to Dean's reactions - I didn't take that to mean that Dean said ILY back, but instead that there was a lot more to his performance in the scene - again, if forced and he hated the scene, why mention there was even more in the scene that ended up not making it into the final product that aired? Some of you have said so he could save face because he was being called homophobic at the time and he values his image...okay, I'll entertain this for a half second, but again why mention there was more to the scene that fans might actually push to see (and hoping this might have been included in the box set when it was released)? Why alienate some of the queer audience that he would hope to push towards The Winchesters when it was finally announced later on, especially already knowing that queer representation & diversity were some of the boxes WB insisted must be checked (Jensen's own words publicly - at NY Comic Con I think) and they already planned to do this by having Carlos be bi? Even if Carlos was more of a concept at the point 15x18 aired instead of a completely filled out and rounded out character? ...you see where I'm going with this?
Jensen's Compliments - Jensen has time and time again publicly complimented Misha's performance and his overall handling of that scene - if Misha forced him to do this scene as antis claim, why would he keep complimenting him? Why not just generically talk about the scene and his own performance?
Jensen's Media Reaction - in Jensen's EW interview after the 15x18 scene aired, he tells the interviewer about how the bloody handprint on the jacket came to be when asked & he doesn't appear to be reacting negatively or bitter or even monotone about it (I also think he views that scene as more of "Castiel's goodbye" as he mentions here than he does anything else so that's the perspective he is coming from, especially since it is a perfect full circle end to Castiel's own story to an extent) - he seems genuinely invested when talking about the coming up of the handprint, again no bitterness or negativity or dismissing of it, if forced or hating it then why engage the way he did in conversation about it? He could have given her a single word answer or "yeah, sure, that was a great moment" and then moved on
Jensen's Social Media Reactions - normally I don't pay attention to these because social media for celebs is used differently compared to how everyday consumers use it, but I think mixed in, it also shows that he did not hate the scene - we saw him liking tweets from Misha and Berens (though tbf, Berens' tweet was more about the end of his run on SPN so I think that has more to do with that obviously) and commenting on the costume designer's post about the handprinted-jacket from the episode - the only social media that we got from him about 15x20 was a photo of him poking fun at the rebar and a video of him lacing up Dean's boots "for the last time...for now" - quite the contrast, meaning if he truly hated the 15x18 scene he would have poked more fun at it or stayed silent altogether during that time (and the specific posts he ended up liking, about Misha wishing he was more like Cas & the hand-printed jacket not only shows he was curating his "likes" at the time but also cements what I said up above in how he views the scene story wise)
It just amazes me the mental gymnastics that antis will do to try to discredit the 15x18 scene and anything Misha, Berens, Speight, or even Jensen himself has to say about it, back then and even now. (and some of these antis hate Jensen and/or Dean LMAO)
It will also never cease to amaze me why they feel so threatened by that scene. If it was a "pandering scene" then cool, why do you care? If it was because "Mooshy pushed for it", cool, then why do you care? If "Dean is straight" then cool, why do you care? Dean's sexuality is not called into question in this scene so calm your queer fear. (and you wonder why people use the word "homophobic" in reference to you lot) If Jensen was "forced to do it", "was tricked into it" or whatever other bullshit you and your clique of nosy Mrs. Kravitz clone-wannabes come up with, cool, why do you care when 85% of you hate the man anyway and do so on a daily basis? When at least one of you just posted right before Misha made these comments this past weekend, about how much you hate Dean and how unimportant he is to SPN and Sam was the final girl? Why. Do. You. Care? It happened and it's not changing. You can have your opinion, sure, but why do you always seek out to discredit those who received validation from that scene, queer or not? Why do you always feel the need to bully, belittle, intimidate, and harass those who actually enjoyed the scene and/or episode? Tell me, Regina George, why do you go looking for pro-Destiel convos on Twitter and this site, take screenshots, and then share them with your mean girls group so you can sit there together and make fun of these people who were minding their own business/staying in their lanes and call them "dumb cunts", "stupid", "ugly", and "retarded" for "not watching the actual show" & "being pandered to by Mooshy"? And then you try to sell all of this bullshit about Jensen hating Misha, 15x18, that scene, and being forced to do it/being lied to about it until he couldn't back out when every other post of yours calls Jensen an "asshole", "a greedy son of a bitch", "jealous of Jared's success", and a "backstabber"? When you've called Dean even worse things? When you have repeatedly said how what Cas said to Dean wasn't true because Dean never did anything for love and that was your evidence for "pandering"? (as if you understood Dean's character, puh-leeze, I'm almost tempted to ask what show you were watching)
So my question is, if you hate Jensen and Dean (showcased by your regular posts and 85% of what your blog is about) as well as Castiel and Misha and all things Destiel...THEN WHY DO YOU CARE??? Why do you care what Misha says or Jensen says or what Destiel fans say? Why do you care if Castiel told Dean he loved him? Why do you care whether Jensen was forced into it or duped into it (spoiler alert: he wasn't) especially since you wake up every morning and make at least 1-2 posts hating on the guy? Just go back to your lane and continue worshipping Jared/Sam or whatever, and we'll be over here doing our own thing in our own lane. (it's really not that hard)
I swear I have never seen a more toxic or gaslighting fandom than the SPN fandom and that's saying something. Holy fuck. (then again some of these people proudly declare their adoration for Dean and Sam's toxic "psychotic" codependency & state that Sam was Colette when Cain's official dialogue clearly states Sam was actually Abel so I guess I shouldn't be surprised with that kind of deluded mindsets freely running around this fandom)
Bottom line, the 15x18 confession scene was important to Cas' character and Dean's character, in different ways. It's canon that Castiel loves Dean. It's canon that Dean heard him say that. The idea of Cas loving Dean has now been brought to the forefront of the narrative of their relationship/bond, in front of every single viewer's face whether they like it or not. It's a part of the SPN story now, and forevermore. What isn't canon is what Dean's response would have been because he didn't have one. Whatever the reason behind it (meaning bts as in the show/Dabb choosing to keep it open/ambiguous rather than ending all debate by going one way or the other), whatever Dean's answer might have actually been had they chosen to have him respond, it doesn't matter. It doesn't detract from what Castiel said in that room right to Dean himself, and how important it was to close out Castiel's own story (including what he said about Dean & Dean's impact on him). It also doesn't detract from what Dean had to hear about himself in order to reach his development for 15x19 and to contribute to the closing out of his own character arc.
Regardless of Berens' reasoning or intention bts, he closed out Castiel's journey in a way that complemented his story (when stepping back and looking at the SPN story as a whole), he closed out the third act of what he started in 15x03 and continued in 15x09, and he positioned Dean in order to realize his full character development, breaking him free of the self-hatred and anger that had been plaguing him for years. While the ILY was beautiful and I'm glad to see Castiel speaking his truth, it wasn't even needed to make that scene perfectly complement these two characters anymore than it already was.
So if you're so worried about what Misha is saying 3 years after the fact about a guy involved in that scene who you think is "a greedy no good piece of shit" anyway, then focus on the actual story and see why that scene actually complements both characters. And again, WHY DO YOU CARE??? Just go back to focusing on Sam, your (deluded) claims of canon Wincest (Jared himself confirmed the barn ILY was not romantic, only familial), and/or Jared & stop the bullshit false narratives you keep trying to perpetuate. It's not going to work. Jensen's, Misha's, and even Jared's own words in public forums keep proving you all wrong.
Don't like the 15x18 ILY? Cool. Get over it. And stop being such toxic little assholes to those who do like it.
