Bah, the perennial problem of whether or not to refer to our major as 'Kira' or 'Nerys' when writing from Julian's pov in an informal, cosy setting. Because in the dialogue he's definitely calling her 'Nerys' from mid season 3 onwards, but saying Nerys too many times in the narrative sounds odd, but switching between the two sounds even odder, and I just cannot choose a consistent one!

There’s something about remembering that the song I’m listening to as I work on my writing is the same one I used to listen to on the bus as a highschooler that sparks that good nostalgia and protectiveness. I look at all my schematics and thousands of words written and all the experiences I dragged my feet through towards adulthood and self identity, and I strongly will those notes to carry my love back to that insecure lost teenager who hated waking up in the mornings and going to sleep at nights and didn’t know what would ever happen in life. You’ll get through it. You’ll still like these songs. You’ll never believe how much can change while your core remains the same, like those songs that can suddenly yank me back through years. Also realising those core traits hold strong while you become an adult is so satisfying. You look at the kind of person you’ve always been and you forgive yourself for every time you despised them because that person is kind of cool. Look at all those thousands of words written, you’re in all of them whether they made the cut or not and they’re actually quite cool. And that song is on loop just like you used to like it.

Step one: put the words on the page
Step two: leave the words on the page, just make note of what you want to edit later
Step three: once all the words are on the page, read it over and curse at the problems
Step four: start rewriting the parts you previously noted needed fixes. Discover a dozen other issues
Step five: find better words. Put them on the page too
Step six: try to keep the writing flowing by working on a different project while you edit
Step seven: you can let go of words now

I can empathise with the urge - it really does suck when you have a strong idea for a fic in your head, maybe even you can imagine some scenes super clearly, yet you don't have the time or energy to write it down into a fic. It does feel horrible.
But there are other ways to express your ideas other than using AI. Just write the short bits you can - it doens't have to be perfect, or have lots of description. Discuss your ideas on your blog - there are likely other people in your fandom who would enjoy talking about them with you, you just have to find them! (And be willing to engage with their ideas, too, ofc.) Or share your ideas as a generic fic prompt - or maybe even look for people in your fandom who are actively soliciting for prompts to use in their writing!
And I'm sorry, but I do feel that if you want to be a fic writer, you have to write fic. Until I started medication last year, I didn't have the energy to write fanfic, and so I didn't, and now I'm in meds limbo waiting for them to be upped, my energy has also MASSIVELY tankes, and it sucks! I'm constantly wishing I could be writing! but it would be a discredit to both myself and my readers if I started using AI just because I can't write very much atm.
just saw a fanfic on ao3 have a dedication for chatgpt... that section is meant for your horny perverted mutual who proofread your work, you violated sacred law and you will be torn apart and laid bare btw

Oh my god, I'd forgotten what it was like to just write, to write good and to write well and to be hyperfixated on it for a whole afternoon without my brain falling asleep on me or wandering off somewhere else.
Like, 800 words in 5 hours is far from quick, but it's been consistent and ongoing (and tbf that's actually ignoring the little bit of Miles pov I've discarded) and gosh, I could almost cry, because I've been so anxious that I was just going to have to brute force this last scene of VA, but no. I'm enjoying it, just as much as I hoped I would.

There are always different interpretations. Other interpretations (or even deliberate misinterpretations) can be just as rewarding. So don't say romance is the only way to see a relationship, just own that you find that interpretation more interesting. Don't put your opinion down to something in the text that you can't control, stand up for it. via hellfridge
Shipping is fun and all but I swear every single time someone makes a comment, whether as a joke or in a legitimate analysis, about there being "no other explanation" for a pair's interactions, I lose just a bit more of my sanity
Like, no, you guys don't get it. Romance is not about the Amount of devotion, it's about the COLOR. the FLAVOR of it all. a character can be just as devoted to their platonic friend as they are to their romantic partner, and they don't love either of them more, just differently.
But because the majority of people still have it stuck in their minds that romance exists on the highest tier of love, I'm stuck seeing endless takes that boil down to "these two care about each other too much for it to NOT be romantic" as if that's the core determining factor to how literally any of this works
In conclusion: stop telling me that I don't understand the story if I don't interpret the leads as romantic, I am TIRED
