bitch this is all you’re gonna get. this life, this face, this body. you better not ‘maybe in another universe’ your way out of everything. sit your ass down and face this. go make tea and have a picnic and read a goddamn book. kiss your loved ones, send that damn text, and hug your siblings. this is all you’re gonna get.

so do i look like him?
after katsuki’s death, the only thing your parents can see in you is him
when you used to imagine giving a speech about your younger brother, you have imagined it everywhere but here.
maybe a wedding
at an award show
anywhere but here.
“i remember when katsuki first got his quirk, we all knew he was destined for greatness… but he was ripped away from us to soon.” you say lip quivering.
“he will never be able to live out his dream. or live out the life that had so many great things ahead of him. ripped from the arms of his loved ones, from his greatness, from his determination.” voice breaking, tears falling down your face.
“tomura shigaraki, i promise that if i ever find you, you will be ripped from the hearts of the people motivated by you, just as you did my brother” you say staring straight into the broadcasting camera, which was showing your brothers funeral all across the world.
since he was a nation wide hero. but he never got to be the hero he wanted to be, rich, famous, doing what he loved.
for he was famous. this just wasn’t how anyone imaged it.
was this all he was going to be to the world? a dead kid, who had a dream of being a hero and died on his way there in a war he had no place fighting in?
is that kid the only thing your parents will ever be able to see in you?
being the eldest was great, until katsuki was gone.
incident one
you where all sitting around the dinning table. katsuki’s spot next to your empty. nothing but his lingering smell of caramel, which was fading, and quickly. it was quite. you just wanted to eat, and go to sleep.
you pick up your fork and go to put the food into your mouth, clamping your mouth around the fork and unbeknownst to you, the scratching food.
you groan, grimace and catch your parents eyes. they’re both staring at you. like you did something wrong. you can see the tears welling in their eyes. your mom slams her fork down and gets up from the table
“excuse me” she says in a hushed tone. you didn’t know what happened. you looked to your dad for an answer.
“you just looked a lot like him right then” you dad almost whispers to you.
incident two
you missed katsuki a lot.
his grunts
his anger
his determination
his want
his excellency.
you and everyone in your house avoided his room like the plague. scared that if it was changed even a little bit, something would happen.
but you just couldn’t take not even smelling his scent around the house anymore. you went into his room one day.
16 years of coming into his room, annoying him, crying to him, watching movies with him. had come to end. you sat on the floor, sat in his bed, sat at his desk and you made your way to his closet. that’s where it smelt the most of him. aside from his bed, but even that was fading.
all you wanted to do was cry. there was no way he was coming back, you know that. right?
you continue to go into his spaces. just hoping your going to find your younger brother there. watch him study maybe, even hope you would be able to hear him yell at you to “get the f out of my room”.
but you would never get to have that’s again.
this time it was your dad.
you had said something that you picked up from katsuki and your dad froze where he stood.
you could tell he had been cracking his shell he made when katsuki died. push everything down to hold the family together. so he needed to get away. he stopped what he was doing and went to he and your mothers room.
“you just looked a lot like him, with that look on your face, saying that.” your mother quivered out to you. sobbing and choking at the end of her sentence.
incident three
you had been falling back into a place that katsuki an you both worked so hard to get you out of mentally.
you where drinking again
back on drugs
it started slow. just how it always did.
you had been clean for nearly 2 years. you obviously didn’t need your younger brother to keep you a normal ass person, who wasn’t drinking all the time, sleeping all the time, back on drugs.
bakugo katsuki, your younger brother, your best friend. was one of the only things that kept you on the earth.
but now, it was your parents. not because you where happy all the time with them as you where with katsuki.
but having to bury both of their children? you couldn’t do that to them.
so you began getting sober again. the drugs stopped and the drinking stopped, you had been reminded that katsuki helped you out of that dark, dark place and if he saw you just fall right back into it as soon as he’s gone, he would be disappointed.
it was hard, because it wand ike he was gone on a trip. he was gone, for good.
this time, it was both of them. both of your parents.
you grabbed any random hoodie one day, not even realizing it was your brothers. you came down the stairs and your parents where right in the view of the stairs, and stopped when you came down.
you then realized.
you wouldnt ever be your own person now. atleast not to your parents.
you understood, their child was gone. and you reminded them of him. and that’s … hard.
not only for them but also for yourself.
this is the first time you started to catch on
“do i look like him?”
both of your parents nodded quickly, tears filling their eyes and they both walked away very quickly.
of course you went to go change.
but that’s when you realized,
his scent wasn’t on the hoodie anymore
the more that you thought about it. his scent wasn’t anywhere around the house anymore, aside for his room, which was fading.
incident four
you where going through an old photo album, you all missed katsuki in with all of your hearts.
there where a bunch of pictures of katsuki but it started getting easier to look at them. easier to, accept.
but there was this one problem, this one picture. that had your mother sobbing, your dad with tears streaming down your face and you, your face plastered with an a thousand yard stare. your mouth fell open, you wanted to say something.
anything, but you couldn’t. it felt like your vocal cords had been ripped out, your throat was burning. your eyes where being filled with tears. you closed the picture book slowly.
you don’t remember much after that.
all you feel right now is the pain in the balls of your feet from the heels your wearing, continusally having to pull your to short and to tight dress down and the feeling of your back side grinding up against a man that you meet at the bar merely a half hour ago.
“wanna get out of here ma?” the man who you didn’t even know who’s name.
next morning
you woke up next to this man, who you still didn’t know the name of.
these type of nights continued on for weeks.
you didn’t see your parents much, you where staying with your friends more and more and they are worried about you. they are always supportive, they understand what your going through. but they are worried.
and they had every reason to. especially tonight.
when you didn’t come home, after you sobbed in mina’s arms are the first time. saying you wished it was you who was gone and not your brother. she was first your brothers friend, but she ended up being yours as well.
you missed him, so so much. and you didn’t know how to handle it.
you had taken care of him for his whole life. being the eldest was hard. it was always hard. it was so much harder when the one thing keeping you going was now gone.
you could see it in your parents eyes. the only thing in their eyes was sadness. so the only you could ask yourself now was
“do i look like him?”

I ! Feels like we had matching wounds, but mine's still black and bruised (and yours is perfectly fine now.)
✎ Synopsis ! You've been thrusted to carry the burden of the eldest after his passing.
Content & warning: Jake sully x Daughter!Reader, Sully kids x Sister!Reader Neytiri x Daughter!Reader. Mentions of death and violence! Purely angst, at least for this chapter. Neteyam dies in the forest (the scene were quaritch first holds everyone hostage) I will not be following his storyline, because that's for you to take 🫵🫵🫵 buckle up.
Song: The Exit, Conan Gray.
Tumblr media
You stay with the ikrans.
Neteyam stepped forward without hesitation, stomach in knots with anxiety. “Father, I’m a warrior. I’m supposed to fight.”
“I need you here,” he cut through his attempt to follow, nostrils flaring and jaw locked. There was no room for negotiation with the authority that laced his tone. “I need you to listen when I say you stay here.” he jabbed his finger on his chest, sealing him stiffly on the spot. The seconds seemed to hang in the air like lead weights, and any moment lost was an opportunity for danger to strike– he could only thin his lips and sharply nod.
“I mean it, Neteyam.”
Such a simple ask of his father could have spared him from the rage of war, but how could you not expect the eldest to fight when his very siblings were in danger? Jake should have known better than to trust the empty ‘yes sir’ off his son’s lips– a warrior born out of his own teachings. You couldn’t blame him for following suit the second his parents were out of sight and into the wild.
How did it get to this? Jake’s thoughts would drift every painful step he took further. He knew it was in Lo’ak’s nature to be so reckless, hell, he took after his father himself– but before him, Kiri, or Tuk, it was just you and Neteyam.
Tumblr media
He remembered feeling ecstasy tremble down his whole body when he first cradled Neteyam. The moment the olo’eyktan had presented him to the clan, carrying him for everyone to see, he couldn’t see his son himself with the unshed tears blurring his vision. A part of him was relieved that he took after his mother, thinking it would have been a handful dealing with another Jake– but perhaps it was just a ploy; a first born’s excellence that they soon yearned for another.
Then you came, another splitting image of Neytiri. The people often mistook you and Neteyam for twins and she’d reveled in the praises you both would get. You were her first daughter— right from the ear-splitting cries you let out the moment you were out of your mother’s womb to the battle cries you had worked on earlier in years, mimicked from Neytiri herself, she always swelled in pride. Unlike the eldest’s reserved composure, you were the opposite; curious and buoyant, yet still as shy and collected.
It was different with Jake; he was new to this— absolutely clueless and terrified. After you came, the jolt wasn’t similar to Neteyam’s;  you were also his first babygirl. He wondered if he held you correctly, if the natural strictness he had with his son was fitting for you– oh Eywa, he definitely had to relearn weaving with Neytiri. The profound hesitation when it came to you was nerve-wracking, but the way your little hand would make its way around your father’s finger every time would ease the tight crease between his eyebrows, almost like you knew his very troubles.
You were the kindest, most sweetest child– a daddy’s girl, much to Neytiri’s complaints.
“Neteyam, scooch!” You yelled in a whisper, trying to desperately hide yourself in thick leaves and bushes. He couldn’t stifle his little giggles either, hearts pumping wildly in anticipation of your father. “Once he comes, remember to run left, alright?”
He nodded sharply. His face coated in mud in the guise of war paint that you drew yourself. Yours were drawn lousily, the strokes shaky and a mess.
Fee-fi-fo-fum, he chanted thickly, growing deeper and louder every stomp! The children could see him between the gaps— hands clawed and raised, stance menacing. You can run but you can’t hide!
Both of you shrunk in suspense, eager to best your father in playtime.
Then it was silent. Too silent. Your ears lifted curiously, eyes scanning the area only to be greeted by your father parting the leaves and surprising you both. You squealed a run and bolted to the right. Not even a second later, you heard the own panting of your twin beside you. You stared at him incredulously, legs faltering a bit, “Neteyam, I told you to go left!”
“This is left!”
“No, I’m right—! This is right, you skxawng!”
Amidst your silly bickering, Jake cunningly captured Neteyam, grabbing him from the armpits and hoisting him up high into the air. You could hear your brother’s laughter growing louder as Jake blew raspberries on his stomach, pretend-eating him with loud munches– his toothless bites making the younger’s giddiness double in size. You shrieked and sprinted faster, making a beeline to a different direction. This monster’s more unmerciful than you thought! With a determined look, you stopped behind a tree. I have to save Neteyam!
“One down and another to go!” You heard your father roar again, your brother giggling as he trailed along his heavy steps.
You threw a rock as hard as you can, shifting Jake’s attention to the noise, and before he knew it, you came running towards him, thick long vine in your hands as you lousily tied it around your father’s ankles. Neteyam shouts in victory, trying to tighten the bind. Jake could only stifle a laugh at the scene, trying not to soil the satisfaction that was evident in your smug smile. He dropped to the floor, “Oh no! You got me!”
“Toruk Makto my ass!” You got on top of him, slapping his chest down with your little hands. Jake shouts a ‘hey’ at your language, which you only sheepishly giggled in return. Neteyam parrots from behind, still holding onto his legs.
“We’re Toruk Makto now!”
Tumblr media
The memory would have easily put a smile on his face– ease his heart even a little bit, but the severity of the situation pulled him back and immediately, he was back in marine-mode, hands gripping onto the gun tightly. The moment they saw distress among the group with the green gas enveloping where his children were, they made a move.
The dreamwalkers felt a searing burn in their nostrils as the dense gas engulfed the area, the pain shooting up their visions. Your captor had a vice-like grip on you, dragging your body with him as you watched the others scramble in distress. He tugged painfully on your hair, forcing you to hiss and jab your nails into any exposed skin you could claw on. A headache throbbed at the back of your skull like an incessant drumbeat; you needed to think fast. With a sprained ankle, you knew you couldn’t get far.
Before you could even muster enough breath to scream for help, an arrow hit the avatar straight in the nape and dropped to the ground dead. You limped backwards, seeking an escape route, when suddenly someone grabbed your shoulders and pushed you against the rough tree bark. You body trembled, hitting whoever it was on their chest in an attempt to break free. But all efforts were futile as they held onto you tightly, shaking you vigorously.
“Sis, it’s me– you’re safe,” His hands traveled around your body to check for any serious wounds. The sound of his voice brought a sense of relief over you; your brother's caring demeanor enough to make you feel at ease and secure. Your face softens, “Are you hurt anywhere?” Neteyam anxiously asked, trying to get a hold of you.
“Ankle,” You exhaled, feeling the sharp pain shoot up again, “I sprained my ankle.”
He looked around, making out a path to safety. When he manages to form a plan inside his mind, he carries you like a princess, arms securely around your waist and under your legs. Neteyam ran face-first into the battlefield, making sharp turns whenever necessary to evade any incoming bullets. With no bows or means of retaliation, you were both defenseless. You could only grab tighter as your heart hammered tightly on your throat.
“Na’vi!” Neteyam stops dead in his tracks, an expression akin to a deer caught in headlights.
“Please, we just want to go home” Neteyam begged, his voice barely higher than a whisper. The light of the eclipse illuminated his features, and he instinctively pulled you closer to him as he took a few steps back. You could feel his exhaustion both physically and emotionally; a weariness that seemed so out of place on such a young soul. Everywhere around you was utter stillness- you couldn’t breathe, the tension in the air heavy and stifling.
“I’m sorry,” And before your brother could grab the dagger tucked to his loincloth, the avatar fired her gun towards you both as Neteyam thrashed in panic, throwing your beaten body to the side as he rolled off somewhere. The dreamwalker quickly towers over you and you could only close your eyes shut, waiting for cruel death. In a blink of an eye, her body drops dead and Lo’ak immediately rushes to your aid.
Only then did you feel the searing pain in your leg, the sensation of a bullet wound as hot blood slowly oozed out. It was nauseating, the smell of iron and the redness of it. Your eyes widened in realization as you clung to your younger brother, “Neteyam! Did you find Neteyam?”
Lo'ak hurriedly hoisted you up and with sheer adrenaline, you limped to the other side, searching for your brother. Your eyes darted to his body, stiffly lying on the grass and breathing shallowly. You couldn't bear to look at the blood that stained his abdomen; it was a sight you wish to never see, ever.
“Oh, Neteyam,” You shakily put pressure on the bullet wound, only for him to violently grab both of your wrists and desperately claw at it. You could only scream aloud as the blood spilled out more and more as he writhed and struggled. “I know, I know, I know, I know– please, please just stay still.” Your words came out as a disgusting croaking slur, tears unable to keep themselves at bay.
“__, I don’t want to die yet.” He cried out as you tried to keep your hold firm, “Father—father had asked me to stay, but I couldn’t. I couldn’t stay there and wait. I.. I don’t want to see his face when he realizes I didn’t listen-- that I failed him again. __ save me, please.”
He said hurriedly, breathing heavily every word. Save Neteyam, save Neteyam.
His jaw clenched violently, spit bubbling the corners of his mouth as he grabbed onto you tightly. The noises he let out had tugged on your every heart string, snapping it over and over. He struggled in your arms, pupils blown wide and teary. “Please great mother, not my brother, not like this– Lo’ak help me!” Your head sharply turned to his unmoving figure, eyes darted to you and Neteyam. You cradled him close, not minding the crimson cot coating your own body.
You were unable to think and you had your own wounds that needed to be tended to, but you couldn’t be bothered to put him down– to accept his already fleeting breath would soon be none. You kissed his temple, rocking his body. “I’m here, I’m here Neteyam.”
“I don’t want to die,” his eyes averted to the incoming figure behind you and he drew a harsher inhale. your father had pushed you aside to aid Neteyam, immediately checking for an exit wound. He was met with a loud cry, squirming uncontrollably from Jake’s sharp movements. When he saw blood gushing out the same on the back, his shoulders slumped in defeat as he let out a sob.
Jake put pressure on it nonetheless. “It’s okay, it’s okay.”
“Sir, I’m sorry,” His words slurred together desperately, reducing to nothing but whimpers. Your lungs deny you of any more air as you watched him struggle— even in the brink of death, he had the need to apologize. Apologize for things that wasn’t even his fault, for things that was beyond his control. You kneeled just behind your father, gaze moving between Neteyam’s body and your bloodied palms. “I’m s-sorry, please don’t be mad.”
How he addressed Jake had only weakened his already beaten heart. “Save your breath, son, please.”
Everything seems to remain still for a minute, then came the shriek of your mother. You stayed there, almost lifeless yourself. You didn’t wanna see; didn’t wanna see how Neteyam’s body is limp under your father’s hold— how his eyes falls crestfallen and void of any emotion. Your siblings watch as Neytiri litters her first born with kisses, how she embraces every skin she can touch closer to her. “Not my son, eywa please.”
Eywa had granted him rest in its worst kind.
When he died, the same bullets went through you and it remained situated there, gnawing your insides and pounding it to mush, eating everything it can and rotting your entirety to an ugly void of a shell. It was getting heavier; his body soundly resting above the delicately woven cloth, carried by his mourning family. You could feel your feet sinking down the very soil you stepped on and you visibly faltered every move.
His cold hand gripping tightly around your wrist, his blood drawn between the lines of your palms— your soul was left to relive that night in a loop, scream bellowing until nothing was let out but breathy weeps of what was left of you.
It was bound to happen; death loomed and you dare played with it nonetheless. You should have known better than to let Lo'ak wander, let alone join him.
You stopped walking, changing everyone's solemn looks to a confused one. “Father, I can’t do it.” You whispered.
He remained tight-lipped, staring at you solidly that you could hardly decipher his expression. Jake was never one for emotions; it was as if he was programmed to tuck everything that made him feel under a gun's trigger– it was the soldier in him, finding it easier to be calm with a weapon nearby, but right now he was absolutely defenseless; stripped bare and vulnerable and he hated every moment of it; resented the fact that he failed protecting everyone, not just as clan leader, but as a father too. The latter weighed more than anything else. It dulled him to dysfunction and he could barely breathe– could barely recognize his daughter in front of him.
You took his stare differently, a cold-shoulder. Before Neytiri could approach your figure, you ran; away from the voices and guilt, away from him. Neteyam’s blood burns brightly on your very hands and you’ve swallowed down the blame, forever residing within you.
You buried something so alive and you feared it would never let you rest.
Tumblr media
☆ mauve here! i now introduce a new series of mine that i am so excited to work on. (i know i said i'd be inactive, but i couldn't help but finish this one draft) neteyam's dying scene is heavily inspired by the game, the last of us! this feels rushed, but i needed an opening to start the series so rest assured, there would be lengthier pieces after. criticisms are welcome. feel free to point out any mistakes. mauve out >:]

Heyo! Anyone want some Lin Fanart? :D
Here you go!
Tumblr media
I'd like to think this is right after Suyin hurt her and Lin may or may be blinded 👀💧
I'm not exactly good with expressions but I wanted to show Lin in both pain but also the anger and hate in her eyes.
All art belongs to me. If reposted plz credit!
Accidentally written a little one shot that's horrible. I meant to take a nap but just sat in my living room typing this and munching on food!
Enjoy- tho I doubt it'll be good 💀
Suyin would undoubtedly be upset she hurt her sister, but wouldn't be prepared to see this expression. An expression she's never seen on Lin before and is possibly ingrained in her mind forever.
Suyin would go to help Lin but Lin would refuse to let Suyin any closer and literally build a wall preventing Suyin from getting close.
Toph shows up and asking what happened, comforts Suyin upon feeling the little ones erratic heart beating all before Suyin tells her mother she's sorry and that Lin's hurt.
Toph goes to see what happens and all she hears is Lin barking at the healer to just do what they can and a slam of a door closing. Toph could sense something is wrong with Lin and can tell she'd faint at any moment if she don't step in only for Lin to hold her hand up at her mother and tells her, "Not now."
Before Toph could say anything Lin tosses her metal coils down on the ground and telling Toph that they'd need to be upgraded and that it's best for everyone in the facility to get them reworked.
Lin's face begins to swell up, the blood is trickling onto the ground and the healer helplessly following Lin around as she's barking orders but is starting to sway and almost faint.
Toph ends up freezing Lin in her place with her metal armor just to help the poor healer out and demands Lin to tell her what happened.
Lin straining too much and only just begins to fall to her knees as she can't fight against her mother in the state she's in, her heart aches, her face feels in agony and she feels ready to fall asleep.
The next thing she knows, she wakes up in a dimly lit room. She could smell the incense and the sandal wood and the light smell of spring in the air. She could hear yelling down the hallway between her aunt and mother, Suyin screaming that it was Lin's fault and of course the numbing pain on Lin's face.
She knew what happened and knew how bad the wound was. She didn't need a healer to tell her how bad the wound was because she felt it, could already sense her other senses strengthening.
With a sigh the metalbender slowly turned her head which made the blood in her head pump and practically caused her brain to ache as she tried to look out the window.
It took too long for Lin to focus and could see the sun had set a bit ago. She'd sit up and leave if she could but just the thought of it hurt Lin's head and she didn't want to go through that pain.
"We don't arrest family!!"
"And look what happened! Agni Toph, Lin got hurt and Suyin's in shambles! I'm not asking you to arrest Suyin I'm just asking you to help her. Ground her! She needs a mother Toph, not an absent one!"
"If I need any advice from you I'd ask! It's just a scratch, Beifong's don't get hurt!-"
"Mom?-"
"-And what do you know about raising kids Sugar Queen? Your two oldest couldn't wait to leave you and where are they now?!"
"-Aunt Katara?-"
"-That's not fair and you know it! They're grown up! Let them do as they and ex- you know what? Forget it! Since you're blind to see what's in front of you I'll tell you! Lin hates you and you don't know why! You're so concerned about your job, about your name, about your position, about metalbending that you forgot what's important!"
"And what's so important huh?!"
"That Lin is important too!"
The silence is what stung Lin the most. Maybe it was the hesitance or maybe the fact that her mother took a whole 10 seconds to finally respond. It was enough for Lin to realize her mother never saw Lin on any level of importance in a very long time.
"So what. She's a big girl, she doesn't need me. She didn't need me when she started tying her shoes, she don't need me now."
Lin sighed felt tears prickle in her eye before quietly crawling out of bed and out the window. She made her way down to the beach and sat down mauling over her aunt and mother's words.
Maybe her mother was right. Maybe Lin was the first to start pushing everyone away. Maybe she forgot what family was. It would make sense why her mother and younger sister were close and how she wasn't. Maybe Lin stopped being apart of the family once she realized she was nowhere near the same as them. When she was the one ruining their fun and becoming a "party pooper."
And even if that was true, even if it were very much apparent, it didn't hurt any less. People used to tell her how much her mother and her were alike. Nicknaming her Little Toph or Tiny Beifong. That she was going to be just like her mother and become a great metalbender.
She thought that since she looked like her mother, became an officer like her mother, bent the same stones as her mother, that she and her would share a bond. A bond that no one would understand but them.
It hurt her once Suyin was born, it was like Toph and her clicked right away and suddenly Lin wasn't Little Toph anymore. She became Miss cranky pants or miss you're-not-Suyin's-mom. She was no longer little Chief but an annoyance to her and her mother. A nag that ruined the fun.
The more people saw Suyin and Toph together the more they said Suyin was exactly like her. Rough, abrasive, strong, stubborn and a powerful metalbender.
A metalbender. Lin just realized why her mother favored Suyin over her. It was because Suyin was a great metalbender. Maybe that's why she loved Suyin more than her.
Lin ran her fingers through the coarse sand and stared up at the moon. Was she always this different? Was she ever in the spotlight to begin with? Lin didn't know but she knew she'd have to accept that she'll never be good enough. Even as she thought these things, Toph was probably taking care of Suyin because she was upset.
Maybe one day Lin would be a true Beifong and everything will be fixed. One day where she was just liked her mother and sister and they could be happy. One day where she didn't become a buzz kill.
Maybe one day she'll be a great metalbender that was worth her mother's time. She just hoped it was soon rather than later. She didn't want to be the only one left behind.

Home For the Holidays
Jason Todd & Dick Grayson & Tim Drake All Chapters Ao3
A/N: Just a little Christmas story for the holidays I thought I would post. I don't know if I'll finish it before Christmas or at all, but we will definitely see how it goes! Sorry if the characters are a little OOC, I just wanted to try something new--tho I did try to stick with the og characteristics as much as I could. Also, I'm kind of keeping it sort of to the original timeline, which is why it's set in the 90s.
Jason, Tim, and Dick are stuck in the middle of who-knows-where with little to no money and only five days til Christmas. Not to mention, tensions are high between them, so they have to come together to figure out a way to get home.
December 20, 1992, Reno, NV
Last Christmas was playing on the radio in the motel room as Jason took a drag off a cigarette while he watched Tim try a kickflip for the third time in a row. The plastic lawn chair he was sitting on was rocking back and forth on its feeble legs. He could hear Dick arguing with Bruce on the guest room phone inside, and it was getting heated. Eventually, the conversation ended with Dick calling Bruce a shit father and slamming the phone down. Tim must have heard it from his spot in the parking lot by the way he gave Jason a questioning look but didn’t say anything.
A few minutes later, Dick stepped out of the room. He sucked in a fresh breath of Reno air before exhaling slowly. It was something he had been doing lately to try and calm down, but, this time, it didn’t seem to be working.
Taking another drag of his cigarette, he offered it to Dick who declined it with a slight wave of his hand. Jason raised his eyebrows in an ‘you’re loss’ gesture before asking, “What did our dear old Dad say?”
By the sour look on Dick’s face, it hadn’t been anything good. “He’s on some mission and can’t come. He’ll try to get in contact with Alfred, but I doubt he will if it’s not urgent. He also bitched at me for not calling on a ‘secure’ line.”
Jason was all but surprised. Bruce picked and chose when he wanted to be a loving father. Flicking away the bud of his cigarette, he finally said, “This place is too expensive to stay at, even though it’s a fuckin’ dump.”
“We’ll figure something out,” Dick said, trying to be calm. “I’d like to be home for Christmas. We should be home for the holidays.”
For some reason, that annoyed Jason and he snapped back, “And how are we gonna get there, Richard? Right now, I got thirty dollars to my name, and I would bet that thirty dollars that you got less. I doubt the kid has anything to offer other than piss-poor skateboarding skills.”
“I can hear you, asshole,” Tim shouted across the parking lot.
Jason ignored him before saying slowly to Dick, “Just give up the Christmas idea.”
“Just because you and Bruce don’t like each other, doesn’t mean he doesn’t like us.”
Dick was sure Jason would have gotten up to hit him just by the look on his younger brother’s face. Standing suddenly, Jason glared down at Dick before turning on his heel to stalk off. Dick, feeling guilty, tried to call him back, but it was useless. With a huff, he retreated into the room. The door slammed shut behind Dick, making Tim jump.
It had been like a cycle of arguing before coming to a truce since the end of the mission, and Tim had just started to wait until the next time they would blow up at each other. He couldn’t picture Jason keeping any kind of positive attitude of any kind, and Dick didn’t really have the sort of temper that could tolerate anything but happiness and complacency. At the end of it all, it left Tim annoyed, Jason stomping off, and Dick trying not to blow up.
With a sigh, Tim went to do another kickflip.

alejandro knows his parents do not love him.
still, he thought -
he hoped -
that they would still pick him up after total drama. even if he is a failure, he is still their son, still their responsibility -
don't even talk to us. you are a disgrace.
well. alejandro is almost an adult, but almost is not enough.
his parents have abandoned him, he lost the money, he trashed his reputation on international TV for nothing, he... he...
he kissed noah last night.
that was nice. but he cannot crash at his maybe-boyfriend's place indefinitely when things are still so new, still so fragile.
so he is back to where he started. waiting for someone who will never come.
he hasn't told anyone else that. why would he? why would he admit that his parents have finally cut him loose, finally made it explicit how much they do not care, finally crushed his foolish hope that one day, they will love him -
to anyone, let alone a bunch of people who hate him?
to noah, to prove that he is ultimately unlovable to the one person who might actually stay, who saw through him but still saw someone worth pursuing?
it was a pipe dream, thinking that winning a reality show could trick his parents into loving him. but total drama had accepted him over jose.
for once, for once, he had been better than jose.
none of that matters, now.
families - not his family, never his family - turn up for his fellow contestants in droves.
some are awkward -
heather scowling at her parents' faux cheer -
cody being ignored by arguing parents -
some are not.
he sees noah whisked away by a loving mother and sisters. he doesn't go over.
a part of alejandro wants to, but they only kissed last night. it is too soon, too much.
still, his heart aches.
the day wears thin, the sun setting over the horizon.
alejandro has some money. he will figure something out.
he will.
now, if only he can get the water out of his eyes.
but then -
then -
someone does come for him.
someone he has not seen in years.
carlos.
carlos smiles at him. his hair long, his shirt untucked.
alejandro rushes forward and hugs him, closing his eyes.
thank god.

Scaramouche felt a piece of crumbled paper got thrown to him — it had been like this for a good one minute and it's starting to annoy him so he decided to pick on of the papers and read it.
‘is your sibling alright? I heard they're in the hospital. -Heizou’ Scaramouche reads the paper and he scoffed when he finally finished reading. He doesn't like it when someone asks about his family. He quickly wrote back for Heizou.
‘Mind your own business. They're definitely alright at the hospital.’ in reality,he isn't even sure if his sibling is really okay or not.But that letter will definitely convinced Heizou they're alright.
The bell soon rings loudly throughout the school and the students immediately pack out their stuffs.Scaramouche on the other hand were also packing his stuffs quickly to visit his sibling — he didn't want to make them wait for too long.
━━━
Scaramouche knocked on the door softly before he opened the door to see his sibling,(name) peacefully sleeping on the hospital bed.The monitor is luckily still beeping normally. He sat on one of the chairs that's provided for visitors and he kept on staring at (name)'s unconscious body.
If only he wasn't that careless and ignorant, things like this will definitely not going to happen — it hurts him to know that he's the reason why (name) is laying on the hospital bed when they should've went to school to study and make more friends.
He's the one who had been treating them so badly to the point where they wanted to run away from him. Now,this shit happened and he couldn't do anything to reverse this incident.
He missed the old times where both of them would always play and study together."Please recover soon..." He whispered with a sad look on his face.He truly do miss his sibling.

Would Anyone Care?
AUTHOR'S NOTE: My emotions are high and I have Peter Hale portrayed it 🙂
Tumblr media
Peter Hale is a well known handsome narcissistic proud Hale. A definitely beautiful man. It still didn't change when he became an Alpha and got his throat slashed by his nephew. Which by the way hurt. Getting burned the second time was definitely not in his bucket list. He would rather get his throat slash more than being set on fire.
He and his nephew are the last surviving members of the Hale pack. As far as anyone's concern, none of them are interested in continuing that blood line... Yet. Even though they are the last of their family, he knew Derek couldn't care less if Peter disappeared or ended up dead in the woods.
Peter didn't care. He doesn't even care when his nephew created a new Hale pack with deprived self esteemed teenagers. They turned up well all thanks to Stiles and Peter's intervention whenever Derek started to get rough on them. It's mostly Stiles. Derek doesn't appreciate Peter's help even though he was one of those members of the family that trains young wolves.
One night, the Hale pack along with Peter's beta, Scott, came by the loft and bonded with the Hale pack. Peter, as usual, stood on the side watching them from afar. This reminded him of those young children his family had before the fire. They were hyperactive children that needed vigilance since not all of them are wolves. Some of them are human rough housing with other pups.
He loves the children. He loved them because their innocence made him forget how he became the family's Left Hand. The one that does the dirty job. He hated it. He hated it more when Talia insisted that he deserved that title. Deserved? Peter didn't deserve to be called a killer right? He didn't want it. He never did. He remembered how Talia always uses the children to force him to do the family's deeds. He never wanted it.
That was before the fire. Now everything is different. After the fire, the revenge, the killing part of himself no longer holds any guilt. Everything disappeared when his family got burned to death, leaving him barely breathing and his niece and nephew leaving him to recover.
He looked at his nephew finally joining in the rough housing, Peter couldn't help but think if Derek would at least care if he leaves right now. What's he thinking... Of course Derek wouldn't care. But deep inside... Peter wanted him to. Those children cared for him so much that they became Peter's anchor and reason to stay.
Peter didn't even notice the room suddenly didn't have any sound. He could no longer hear the teens clearly. It's like his head is dunked underwater. He couldn't handle it. He rushed through the door and swung it open. It wasn't enough. He needs to get out. He ran as fast as he could through the woods. The midnight air scratching his cheeks didn't deter him. He didn't even notice a body slamming at his back, pinning him on the ground. He couldn't get out. He couldn't breathe.
"Peter!" He heard his nephew. Yeah. That's his nephew. His favorite. He remembered when he first carried Derek in his arms when he was a baby. Damn that eyebrows really did stuck in his nephew till he grew old.
"Uncle... Please... Come back..." His nephew wanted him to return? No one wants him to. He shouldn't even be alive. He should have stayed dead. None of this would've been happening if he stayed dead.
"Uncle... Please... Open your eyes..." Since when did he close them in the first place?
"Listen to my heart Uncle. You're ok. I'm here. I'm not going to leave you." Talia said that before and yet she did. She failed him. She failed Derek. She failed the pack. But Derek isn't Talia. He's ... Well... He's Derek.
Slowly, Peter opened his eyes. He found himself leaning on Derek's chest and his head resting on his shoulder.
"You could let go now nephew."
"I won't. I won't let you go. Not if I can make this right. Laura and I failed you. I... We left you Uncle. We left you to die and I'm sorry... I'm mad for Laura but..."
Peter rested his head on his nephews shoulder, patted his hand.
"I'm sorry for taking her away from you Derek."
"I'm sorry for burning our family."

IV ! Mom, am I still young? Can I dream for a few months more?
✎ Synopsis ! You've been thrusted to carry the burden of the eldest after his passing. ( First | Second | Third | Fourth | Fifth )
Content & warning Jake sully x Daughter!Reader, Sully kids x Sister!Reader Neytiri x Daughter!Reader. Mentions of death and violence! (wc; 4070)
Song: Class of 2013, Mitski.
Tumblr media
A mother’s love is of all things.
“You start from here,” Her gentle hands moved across the cloth as she showed you how to make the first stitch, her voice encouraging as she patiently talked you through every step. You listened to her instructions, your tiny fingers following every gesture, but your mind drifted off to somewhere and Neytiri was well aware of that.
"Mama, how much longer will this take?" You whined, your lips pursed in a pout as you discarded the rag. It was taking far too long for your liking and you were more than ready to be finished, but your mother's stern gaze was enough to stay put.
“Until you finally get it.” She sighed, knowing well that you wanted nothing but to run to your father and Neteyam. Neytiri could see clearly that you wanted nothing more than to train with them, learning all that Jake had to teach, and while she was relieved that you were so eager, she couldn't help but feel a little left behind.
You furrowed your brow as you looked down at the mangled fabric in front of you, feeling frustration coursing through your veins. "I don't like sewing," You sighed quietly to yourself, trying to undo the mess of stitches and start again from scratch.
A mother’s love could be quite petulant. Neytiri could feel the insecurity settling at the pits of her stomach, thinking about how his mate was doing a much better job at parenting. She was never able to keep you in one place, always wriggling uneasily on your chair and asking for the time so you can go, so she was often left with no other choice than to give into your demands and watch as you ran away from her.
It was silly, you were just a child– what child wouldn't want to be outside where the world was theirs to explore?
With another sigh, Neytiri placed a hand to your shoulder in understandment. She gave you a gentle squeeze,  “You know where your father is, go on.”
Tumblr media
A mother’s love could be fiery– burning brightly like a wildfire in her heart. It was a force that drove her to do anything she could to ensure the wellbeing of her children, even if it meant making difficult decisions that brought pain to herself.
When you once came home, battered and bruised, of course she did not relent.
“What was the only thing I asked?” She carefully tended to your wounds, despite the frustrated tears streaming down your face. With a sigh of exhaustion, she reminded you in a rough whisper, “To be careful!”
“I don’t let you run off with your father and Neteyam for you to carelessly train yourself,” She continued to scold you, “Now look at you, do you know how long these bruises will heal?” you hung your head low in shame, not wanting to meet her angry gaze. You felt guilty for making her worry and were immediately overcome with remorse.
“For this, you are not allowed to train for two weeks,” She said sternly, “Not until these heal, you understand?”
“But mama,” You tried to change her mind, but the look she gave was enough to let you know that she wasn’t going to tolerate any argument on the matter. You begrudgingly nodded your head in agreement with a frown.
“I love you, ma’ite,” When you didn’t reply, her heart sank a little. She knew you would resent her for this while the duration of your punishment stretches on, but she was only looking out for you– besides, there was no way she was going to let you train all sore. You’d understand when you’re older.
Neytiri would do anything if it means everyone would be safe.
Tumblr media
A mother’s love is of all things, but above all, the love she had rooted from no other else but her own children.
When you once came forward with a present, she was curious. It wasn’t like you didn’t lend any gifts at all, if anything, you were the most thoughtful with giving; always coming home with trinkets from your training, colorful beads from a lazy stroll, or even rocks with the weirdest of shapes. But you were most excited with this one, a smile growing every second as you waited for Neytiri to grab the wrapped box.
“What is this?” She had her eyebrow quirked up high in curiosity, a tiny smile fighting to stay suppressed.
“Open it, come on!” You squealed, trying hard not to open it yourself.
“You made this?” She said, looking at the well-made shawl– actually, it was messy. The stitches weren’t as straight and there were holes larger than the others, a few smaller, but the ornaments sewn between the threads were no doubt from you. To her, it was the most beautiful thing ever; it was from you.
“I did!” You beamed, chest puffing out proudly, “Well.. maybe I cheated a little. Grandmother helped me, but all the beads there are from me! See those?” You excitedly gestured to each and every trinket, going with great detail into how and where you got them. She asked questions along the way, marveling at how eager you were to tell her of your adventures.
While you were keen on your work, her eyes were only on you, listening intently.
“So.. do you like it?”
Neytiri burst into a fit of giggles as she embraced you tightly, her head resting against the little space on your neck. “I love it, Ma’ite– I love you.” she whispered softly.
You returned the hug, “Does this mean I’m done with sewing?”
“Don’t push it.”
It didn’t matter whether you were with Jake most of the time– she wanted to tell him how wrong he was to tell her you were a daddy’s girl. Neytiri received a shawl from you– a shawl. It’s safe to say that maybe you loved her a bit more than Jake.
Tumblr media
While her love was indescribable, there were no exact words for her anguish too. When Neteyam died, it was nothing but loss. No mother should have to bury their child. It weighed heavily on her– so heavy, a piece of her died along with him. Neytiri felt it in every pore of her being, a dull ache that could never be filled no matter how much time passed.
Neteyam, her first born and first loss.
The same anguish was apparent on you too and she wasn’t blind to that fact.
You were carefully tending to the different herbs on the corner of your pod. You placed them in the mortar, crushing it with a pestle between your fingers and frowning with concentration. You had asked Neytiri if you could stay behind and help with chores and while she did need an extra pair of hands, it was also an excuse to get out from training for the day.
Neytiri knelt beside you, her grip on your hand preventing you from mashing the already mashed ingredients in the bowl. She looked into your eyes with genuine concern, pressing a gentle kiss to the top of your head. “What’s troubling you, ma’ite?” She asked softly. You sighed heavily in response while setting the bowl down slowly.
When you didn't answer, she asked again. “Neteyam?” Your breathing hitched and that was all the answer she needed.
“It’s been over a month already,” You started, unable to look at her, “I don’t wanna mourn anymore. I don’t wanna cry– Tuk, she,”
“I know. I heard.” You were struck with a wave of embarrassment as you abruptly turn to face her, realizing now that you weren't as silent as you had wished that night. You shook your head, trying to push down the shame.
“I’m the eldest now and she’s tougher than me, it’s really a slap on the face.”
Neytiri sits in front of you, taking both your hands in her own. She looks at you steadily with a piercing and gentle gaze, “Have you ever thought that maybe the reason why it isn’t letting you rest is because you haven’t mourned him properly?” Unable to process her words, you look up to her with a confused expression, beckoning her to continue. “All you have ever done is cry– blame yourself for what has happened. That is not mourning, you are simply wallowing in self-pity.”
“It’s not easy,” You quickly interject, shaking your head with a hint of frustration.
“And it’s not supposed to, but you’re here trying to stop yourself from feeling.” She soothes the skin of your hands with gentle rubs, trying to calm you down. “Have you ever visited him after what had happened?”
She was met with only silence and again, it was all the answer she needed. With a heavy sigh, Neytiri gently pulls you closer to her, “Ma’ite, maybe it’s time you talk to him. You aren’t letting his soul rest either,” She whispers, “You’re making him wait.”
“I’m sorry.” You murmur, burying your head into your mother's arms. Despite feeling a little embarrassed by the sudden display of emotion, you can't deny the comfort it brings. Neytiri holds onto you tightly, as if she too needed this moment just as much as you did.
After a few more minutes, she nudges you softly, “I’m going to get more herbs,” With another kiss to your temple, she squeezed your shoulders and stood up.
Neytiri’s words hit you hard– she was right. You have never put an effort to visit your brother, let alone talk to him. The realization was like a punch in the gut; while you were trying so hard to put as much space between you, Neteyam remained waiting.
You had to talk to him, had to tell him everything before your heart could hold no more. It didn’t matter if he was angry anymore, nor if he would have blamed you for what had happened. You missed your brother– missed him like a little kid.
You stood up, taking your woven satchel– but before you could take another step out the door, Jake enters with a disheveled Lo’ak behind; it was clear that he got into a fight, the bruises on his face and body was enough to tell. “What was the one thing I asked?” Jake asks, scanning the area to check if anyone had followed them, “The one thing!”
“Look, dad. Ao’nung was picking on Kiri,” Lo’ak defends himself, his shoulders slumped in defeat. “They called her a freak.”
“And you! Where were you? Weren’t you supposed to be training?” His tone is harsh and demanding, cutting off any chance to interject. Jake turns to you, livid,  “I catch you over here slacking off while this knucklehead is giving them a passage to kick us off the island– Jesus Christ, you’re the eldest now!”
“I’m sorry, sir, this is my fault.” You replied, unable to meet his gaze. “I should’ve been keeping an eye on everyone.”
“Damn right. I catch a break for one second– one second!” He continued to berate and you could only hang your head low. “You’re supposed to be like Neteyam, but ever since we got here, all you’ve done is disappoint me. You disappoint me, __.”
“But I wasn’t just slacking, I was helping with–”
“I don’t wanna hear it.” He immediately turns back to Lo'ak. He badly wanted to come to your defense, but something about Jake's steely gaze made him think twice. His lips quiver as he struggles against the urge to speak, feeling frustrated. “Go apologize to Ao’nung.”
“It’s not fair, dad! They were–”
He quickly dismisses him like he did with you, “Go make peace. I don’t know how, just go.”
Lo’ak was the first to move, his footsteps heavy as he walked out. Before you followed, you glanced one last time at Jake, trying to look for any trace of remorse in his eyes. All you found was the same stoic expression. With a sigh, you trudged behind your brother.
Once you both were far enough from your Marui, you quickly grabbed Lo’ak’s wrist, stopping him from walking further. “Stay here,”
He gave you a perplexed look as you firmly held him, “I’m supposed to be making amends.”
“I’ll do it myself so for once, stay here and  just do nothing.” Your mind was clouded, absolutely heavy from your father’s words. With another frustrated sigh, you let go of him. “What were you thinking?”
“What do you mean?” His tone was laced with a mixture of guilt and defiance, shoulders tense.
“You know damn well, Lo’ak.” The laugh that erupted from your mouth is menacing– mean. You grabbed his shoulders and spun him, forcing him to look at you. “You didn’t have to do that.”
He quickly shrugs your grasp away, his gaze downcast. Lo’ak couldn’t bear to even glance at you, not when you’re looking at him like that. It was so unlike you to be angry, usually you were the most patient– understanding. Right now, your eyes held nothing but exhaustion and it was like you were a different person yourself, morphing into someone he terribly misses.
God, he misses his brother. Now that he’s gone, things are a lot worse– he didn’t even know that it was possible to feel more alone. There was no one who’d put on an effort to cheer him up despite him royally fucking up, no one to mess with his hair, or to stand up for him. With Neteyam, he was sure he understood him so well– with Neteyam, he was still a child. Lo’ak swears he also died that night, heart buried along his back at home. His younger self has not stopped crying ever since, shouting at him, asking, “It’s our fault again, is it?”
“You would have done the same,” He tries to reply with the same fierceness, but his voice is breaking. “Maybe if you were there, you would have even thrown in a punch too–”
You spun him again irritatedly, “But I’m not like you. It’s different here, you understand?” Your voice was getting louder– growing absolutely desperate with every word. “You aren’t thinking!” That stunned the both of you and you couldn’t help but feel a nauseating deja-vu the moment it left your mouth. It was familiar, oh so familiar it hurt.
“What has gotten into you?” Before he could wait for a reply, you had already stormed off, leaving him right in the open.
Tumblr media
It wasn’t hard to find Ao’nung, being the olo’eyktan’s son made him stand out easily. They were at the shore and unlike Lo’ak, you could see how they’ve gotten the end of the punches more badly. You tried not to visibly wince at the huge deep-purple bruise forming on his face and the others littered all over his body– yikes.
You knew he deserved this. Ao’nung wasn’t the kindest ever since you had seeked uturu so you couldn’t help but feel a sense of satisfaction. Despite this, he didn’t relent.
“I’ll forgive you once you are able to ride an Ilu,” he said, and his friends snickered from behind, “But you still can’t, right? What would father do if he hears that none of the Sullys’ had gone out to apologize.”
You clench your fists, digging your nails into your palms as they continue to ridicule you; you wanted to retaliate with the same harshness Lo’ak had, but you knew you had to keep composure. Oh Great Mother, the urge was strong. “All I have to do is ride an Ilu?”
“Don’t bother,.” He scoffed, harshly jabbing his fingers into your chest, “You’re funny if you think that I’ll ever save you again– it would be one less freak from the clan.” Everyone broke out into a fit of loud laughter, taking turns in mocking you.
“Consider us forgiven then.” You said firmly, pushing past them and marching towards the sea.
He called for you to stay back, but you couldn’t just stop now– not when you have already mounted your ilu. The salty ocean air filled your lungs as you surveyed the horizon, the waves crashed on the rocks and it was evident that the water was fiercer. It should’ve been enough sign for you to pocket your pride and relent.
As you made the bond, you embraced the creature, trying to steady your breathing. “Just this once, please? Please, please. Save me from embarrassment.”
It was a foolish decision to act out of spite, especially after you had been trying for well over a month with no success. You knew there was little chance that this time would be any different, but the impulse drove you forward and you just couldn't let go. As the ilu surged ahead with reckless abandon, you held on more desperately than before.
You were struggling to keep the creature in check. The strong waves made it even more challenging to stay on top of the situation, but you pushed ahead determinedly with an iron grip that was sure to leave your hands sore. Suddenly, your hard work seemed to pay off as the ilu started slowing down under your control, enough that you could relax a little.
As you emerged from the water, you couldn’t help the shout escaping your throat as the other’s stood ready near their own ilus. Whether the smirk from Ao’nung’s face was of disbelief or if he had been genuinely impressed didn’t matter to you, all you could feel was a surge of pride burning through your skin. You flipped him off, peppering your ilu with much deserved kisses.
“Come on, let’s go further,” You talked to her, encouraging her to keep moving forward, where she replied with an eager yip.
You were absolutely thrilled– it had been a grueling month and the anticipation was nearly too much to bear. The thought of finally riding an ilu was almost too exciting for words. Although you preferred the forest, you’d be a big fat liar if you denied the beauty of Awa’atlu. You’ve been dying to explore– you felt like a kid again.
As you continued to ride forward, with not a thought in mind, you would not have expected to be found so easily.
Tumblr media
It was almost night time and everyone was getting ready for dinner inside. Jake waited at the entrance of the Marui, sharpening his dagger as he waited for you.  He glanced around impatiently as he tried to ignore the spiraling  uneasiness in his stomach.
“It’s getting cold, ma Jake.” Neytiri called for him, rubbing his back soothingly. “Wait for her inside, she’s probably on her way home.” She had noticed how anxious he was growing as the sun started to set and the dark night began to creep closer. It was even more obvious when he hadn't moved from his spot in front for hours already, frown deepening.
“I failed as a father, Neytiri,” His voice emerged from his throat, strained and raw. He had done all he could, but it seemed that his luck had truly run out.  Now that he faced the truth of his failures, he was filled with bitter regret and a deep sadness for what could have been– of what he had to lose. “I look at them and I feel like I’ve already lost everyone.”
Neytiri kneeled beside him, curling her arms around him in a comforting embrace. “You only did what you thought was best,” she whispered softly.
“And yet, I managed to make things worse.”
“Just talk to them, ma Jake,” She gave him a stern look, squeezing his shoulders, “It hasn’t been easy for them either.”
“I know that, but–” The crackling of the line made Jake wince, but he could make out his daughter's voice beneath the static from the other line, and the urgency in your voice made his body jolt– a familiar dread that brought him back to that fateful night when you desperately called out for Neteyam.
“Can someone hear me?”
The searing heat was unbearable, even when you were surrounded by nothing but water, it scorched your skin the same. The village was rising from the ashes of an unforgiving fire, the island surrounded by familiar ships. Your eyes mirrored the flames that engulfed the area and you were unable to look away— unable to move.
Your fingers frantically felt for the device tucked on your ear, pressing on its button, hoping someone would answer– pride be damned, you even hope that it would be your father.
He stood up, instinctively grabbing the gun from his side, “__? What’s wrong, baby girl? Talk to me.”
“Dad, Sir, a village!” Your voice nearly drowned out, inaudible from the deafening sound of waves thrashing towards you and your ilu. You were holding onto her for dear life as the salty water stung at your eyes, blurring your vision, “A village is on fire!”
“What? Where are you?”
Neytiri stood sharply beside him, her eyes wide with fear as she desperately tried to hear your voice from the intercom. “Jake, what’s happening? Where is she?”
“I don’t know– I don’t know! I rode my Ilu too far. Dad, there are ships! Sky-people ships, plenty!” You spoke rapidly, your words tumbling out of your mouth faster and faster as the panic built up inside of you. You were becoming increasingly anxious, with every passing second more fearful than the last. “They’re here sir, they found us.”
Jake’s heart plummeted there and then.
“They’re hurting them– they have them at gunpoint, what do I do?” You continued to hurriedly talk, explaining the severity of the situation. It was nauseatingly terrifying, a sickening sensation that had taken root in his stomach and clouded his mind with nothing but overwhelming fear. “I– I have to do something, anything! Please, tell me what to do.”
“Listen to me, listen to Sempu alright?” His voice is gravelly, like he hasn't been able to catch a breath in what feels like days. Jake was desperate as he wanted to tell you this wasn’t about you proving yourself anymore, acting on behalf of your brother’s loss. This was solely about him wanting his sweet daughter back, safe and sound. “Don’t look at them, for the love of– please, get out of there now.”
“But dad, I–”
“I need you back here, please baby girl, please.”
However, you and him did not stand on the same ground, hearts paced on different pages. All you saw were the people; their safety and well-being had to come first and foremost. You had to save them, had to do something to avert the danger. They were innocent and above all, helpless.
To Jake, all he could think was of you, his sweet daughter, caught in a wildfire.
“This is an order, __. Turn back now,” It was the only thing he could do, instill authority in hopes it would make you deter. “I’ll alert Tonowari of the situation. It’s not a good idea to barge into face-first and vulnerable, you hear me? What are you gonna do with all their guns and people? Turn back. Now.”
And it worked. Only now were you able to let out the breath you kept for so long, finally averting your gaze and looking down in shame. “I hear you, sir, I’m,” With one last look, you gulped. “I’m heading back.”
“Good. Don’t let them see you.”
As you reconnected with the Ilu, you pleaded it to take the lead and guide them both back home. You could feel her emotions racing through your veins, her fear undeniable as she witnessed others of her kind slaughtered mercilessly by the shoreline. The bond between you was overwhelming and unsteady, so much that it almost took all your energy just to keep yourself from dissociating from her.
Before you could submerge below the safety of the waters again, your ilu begins to bellow loudly in distress. Its body thrashes around, making it hard for you to hold on. “Mawey, mawey!”
More static could be heard from Jake’s intercom, the noise turning more and more deafening. He tried to make out anything from the sound, but all he could hear was white noise. You called out for him one last time, before the pager turned off.
“Jake, please, where’s my daughter?”
When Neytiri lost her eldest, she didn’t think she’d lose another one so soon.

Once more to see you
First chapter
Chapter 2: start of hell
4,000 words long
Notes
hello sorry it took me like longer to post here I worked on this until like midnight to get it perfect and then I just knocked out after finishing it and I'm writing this as I wake up thank you for your patience
This is where it begins
he starts to slide the card I looked at the other two. Camila and Deniz. They looked back at me as we waited. There was an unspoken Bond forming at least I think. Deniz had a small smile. Camila just looked at the ground.
Then we heard the confirmation jingle. the pressure releasing from the door. As Su-Jin looked up. Giving us a look that said go. I glanced at the room. I don't know what I was expecting but it was definitely not just a normal corridor.
There were some drawers to the walls and a few Lockers it was cold and smooth like the docks. felt too normal and clean. For what I've been told. I cautiously stepped inside. Carefully looking around.
Su-Jin and Deniz searched the drawers while Camila directly walked to the door. I decided to look into some of the lockers. Expecting equipment but they were all empty. İt seems they took their stuff before escaping.
I made a slight sound of disappointment. I thought I'd find something interesting. I tried to get inside of one just to see how it felt. Until I heard Su-Jin's voice calling to me as all three of them waited by the door I rushed over giving an apologetic look. He was of course he was the one to open the door again I hope the next will be uneventful as this one
And it was. For like solid 7 doors nothing happened. The most interesting thing was there were some side rooms sometimes and we had to find the key card. But other than that the drawers were just full of documents. We kept collecting them. Well me, Su-Jin and Deniz did. Camila just went to the door as quickly as possible and waited for us looking annoyed but not saying anything.
Deniz seems to be excited about collecting everything. Even more happy when he found a flashlight Su-Jin gave a nod Camila did not acknowledge. I was surprised that Deniz could find so much joy in something so small but I guess you have to find any type of joy in a situation like this.
On the 8th as we were looting when Camilla finally spoke.
“Why are you guys doing this?”
She sounded exasperated and a little angry Su-Jin looked up from the table
“What do you mean why are we doing this?”
His voice was stern and slightly surprised
“Why do you guys check and collect everything? It's a waste of time.”
Because we were told to collect loose assets? I thought you were just keeping watch.
“Yeah but that's the secondary objective and personally I would rather just get out of here quickly as possible and go home.”
Yes but it's still an objective.
She sounded annoyed and he sounded confused and maybe a little angry. While me and Deniz just watched but before the argument could drag on the lights flickered. And there was a screech so far away.
Something was coming quickly and we needed to hide. I remember the lockers are empty.
“Lockers guys lockers”
I quickly ran inside one of them, closing the door as the screech got louder. And then second there was a gust of wind and I saw it between the doors of the locker. But it passed before I could take a good look at it.
Let go of a breath that I didn't know I was holding. I could hear my heartbeat in my ears. Everything was dark. And somehow I knew that the only reason that I survived was the locker. That was a monster. And it wasn't going to be the only one. And then I heard his voice.
Su-Jin cautiously asking
“İs everybody still here?”
İn unison
“yes”
At least everybody else is still alive. I took a sign of relief. Getting out of the locker. Everything was dark. But I know the others were near. There was a click and then there was light again. I looked at Deniz and he had that smile again. I smile back. He looked at the others. And then started walking.
I was shortly behind trying not to get out of the light somehow. It felt safe. I could still feel my heart beating. Although it had slowed a bit. I looked at Su-Jin and he didn't show much emotion. I glanced at Camila. she continued looking down, mumbling in Spanish something about a sister. But I couldn't understand much else.
I don't know if it's because of the distance or that I had gotten rusty. Mum was always very strict about us being fluent. Some days even making us only speak Spanish in the house. Sometimes me and Sebastian try to translate songs. But since his death I haven't been practicing as much.
For a second I lost myself in the memories again. The colorful memories of making Spanish covers and the dark memories of listening to them again. Colorful memories of enjoying moms Empanadas and the dark memory of watching her spiral. As I was getting deeper into the thoughts.
There was a screech and Something appeared on my face a deformed squid thing. There was a bright light and then it was gone so quick but so painful. I couldn't see anything, the bright light had ruined my vision. But just as quickly it came back. But I could feel my heart race again.
I looked around and everything was pitch Black. But I could hear breathing. I guess it was my turn
“İs everybody?”
“Yeah”
“yes”
“yep”
“Good”
“I found it it must have turned off when I dropped it”
Deniz said as they were noises probably him fiddling with it but there was an abrupt stop as Su-Jin chimed in
“I think that's what triggered them also let's not waste”
So we continued walking. I listened to the footsteps to keep track of everybody. I wanted to return to memories again but I knew that I had to focus. I didn't want to be surprised like that again. So I kept by everybody's side as we kept looting. This time Camilla kept by our side.
İt was actually hard trying to find things in the pitch darkness but we managed. Hopefully we didn't miss anything. I continued to focus on the footsteps and then I noticed that one of them was getting away as we finished collecting everything.
I guess that it was probably Camila. She's probably going to wait by the door again. But I felt something. I needed to follow her. She seemed not to mind or maybe didn't even notice my presence. Approach the door with the big sign saying 12. And it opened.
There was a little bit of light as the door opened and I took one step towards her. But then I saw it. something red and fleshy with a mask. İt attacked her. I made a horrible noise while doing it. Before I could react it was over and the door had closed. I heard a robotic voice.
“you are so gullible”
I looked up searching for it but there wasn't anything. I extended my hand to Camila but she did not take it. She passed me.
“Hey are you okay?”
“Yes I am okay.”
Her voice was harsh as she started to mumble in Spanish again. And then I heard the sound of the door opening. And I saw the lights. Su-Jin was waiting for us. Deniz was already scavenging in the next room.
“What were you guys doing?”
Camila passed him. but I stayed
“Well there was another door Camilla opened it and there was a monster that attacked Camilla she seems to be fine though.”
“Then we should be careful about those.”
He looked away, his voice was Stern. We continued on our path. And then the lights flickered again, throwing myself into the locker. And this time it came quicker than last time. As I got out I checked everybody was still alive and we continued.
The next few rooms were relatively unremarkable. Some of them had electrical leaks in the water can we have to turn off the whole room's electricity Su-Jin figure that out Camila kept her distance and Deniz kept collecting
I was there trying to keep up the pace. And then there was a flooded room, never the best swimmer. Sebastian was the best. He and mom told me that Maria was actually the best. How they used to joke about her being half fish.
Wish I knew Maria. I wish she was there. Maybe if I was a better brother before she left she would have been…and we are out of the water and I spent the whole time reminiscing. Damn it. 19 that was the room number
“Look into my eyes”
A green glow
“İf you look into my eyes you can see your friends, your family again, look into my eyes look into my eyes”
Mom had that smile on her face again. Smile that she gave me when I ace that test. Sebastian was back, his arms out reaching. He was going to give me a hug we were going to be family again
And then I was being dragged away from them. I blinked. There was a splitting headache. What was that? Why did I see them again? my eyes were closed. I could feel myself being dragged away. But I didn't question it. I heard a whisper.
“ya voy Maria”
The headache started to subside. I could finally open my eyes. And when I did there was just a corridor.
What happened?
“That thing almost hypnotized you or something “
I turn to see Deniz looking at me. He looked a bit weird and blurry. Maybe it was the headache. Wait, was I sitting on the floor?
“You guys, we're talking about seeing somebody again. I had to drag you two.”
“Oh thanks.”
I looked to the ground, my headache continuing and then I noticed.
Two. Wait does that mean
“I'm sorry I only have two arms.”
I got up and ran back to the room. Finding Camila laying on the floor. She wasn't breathing. She was just laying lifeless. The other two surrounded her too. I looked up. Deniz looked at the corpse, his eyes filled with remorse. Su-Jin checked for any vitals and shook his head.
She was gone so quickly. she was gone. And there is nothing that we could do. I did the sign of the cross. Deniz started whispering a language that I did not understand. Su-Jin lifted his head up and started walking. I followed and I could hear that Deniz was shortly behind us
Her last words
“ya voy Maria”
“I am coming Maria”
I think she was crying when she said it. Maria was probably her sister. She wanted to return to her. And now she never will. And her sister will feel the pain that I never wish on anymore. İn that single moment I wished I wasn't the one who got away.
I have to keep walking, I have to keep continuing. And I have to leave her behind. I thought about Maria my Maria. How she would feel if I died here. Probably nothing. Did she ever even care? Why am I thinking about my own sister?
Camilla had someone to return to. And that someone will experience the pain. The pain I felt all those years ago. Hopefully they don't turn up like me. I hope they have somebody else. And then I felt a hand on my shoulder. Looking up to see Su-Jin
“I'm sorry. But we have to keep up. We have to survive for the ones who couldn't.
I looked around. I was lagging behind. I gave a nod and lifted my head to survive for the ones who couldn't. Yes, I'm going to survive. So that she did not die in vain. We are going to make it. I catched up to Deniz and we continued.
Deniz did not smile like he used to as we continued to find more stuff. Some sort of hacking device. Another flashlight. And a medkit. I held on to them. These suits had big pockets. I stuck by his side as Su-Jin continued leading.
The boring corridors continued until there was door 25. But it was surrounded by vegetation flesh? I checked for other ways there were none. We have to brace ourselves. No other choice.
The inside was the same. Covered wall to wall. I didn't even bother with the drawers. This place wasn't worth it. I want to touch the walls to see what it was but I decided against it. Quickly got out of there before something ate us.
I looked at Deniz and tried to give him a smile. Like he gave to me. He looked at me for a second. I could still see the regret and grief in his eyes. But he still smiled back. I felt like I needed to say something.
“still thinking about it? I'm sorry you couldn't save her”
“…I wish I had three arms I would have been able to drag all of you out”
“yeah but I don't think that's possible.”
“İt would have been very useful. umarım hakkını helal edebilirsin Camilla”
He looked up as he said the last part. That must have been something in his native language. But he smiled a little. I felt like I should change the subject.
“…how did you break the hypnosis?”
“…I have no loved ones”
“What?”
“My parents are transphobic pieces of shit that isolated me. I don't ever want to see them again so it has nothing to use.”
“Oh that must be…”
“Rough, yeah but it's okay we are going to make out here, change my name, pump myself full of hormones and live a good life.”
He gave a small chuckle. I couldn't help but to return it. I felt something rising in my chest but it wasn't fear. It was something else. I couldn't really put a name on it but it felt good.
“Look, we are already at 30”
As we entered the lights flickered. He gave me a smile before going to one of the lockers. As I shut the doors I heard the screech. But somehow it felt a little different. I waited, not even bothering to hold my breath.
İt came but it turned to me. There was only a second between realizing that and the monsters smashing itself into a locker trying to open it. And that was the longest second of my life. As the foul smell of rotting fresh filled my lungs.
I held on to the Doors for my life. As it shook the locker. Trying to get me out. I don't know what it would do to me but I knew that I couldn't let go. My heart raced again and my breaths were rapid. I'm not going to die here.
I said continue smashing. I heard a scream, a visceral scream. And I know who it came from. I couldn't focus on that. I had to survive. I have to keep the doors shut. And then it disappeared.
I fell out of the locker. Exhausted. My heart is racing and my breath is still heavy. I was on the floor again. Catching my breath staring up into the ceiling as I remember The scream. There it was, his lifeless bloody body
Deniz was gone, that lively man talking about his future was gone. I couldn't even get closer, I just looked. He would never smile like that again. Nobody will mourn him. Except me. Su-Jin stood next to me.
“Let's go”
“Survive for the ones who couldn't”
I repeated as I got up doing the sign of the cross again. I should probably get the loose assets that he has collected But I can't get any closer. I can't look at him anymore. Knowing what he was just a few minutes ago. So I walked to door 31. Leaving him behind.
İt was just Su-Jin and me now. No camila waiting at the door. And no Deniz enthusiastically collecting. Just me and him. I continued collecting. While he kept watch. Everything felt so silent. As we continued through the rooms.
There was a room with a huge hole in the middle. And it needed a key card. Also one of the lockers had eyes. I'm going to check for that from now on. We found the key card and continued.
The Doors started to blend into each other. Everything that we have already seen. That thing with the Green Glow returned but now I knew what to do. Good thing nothing smashed into my locker again.
The lockers started to feel suffocating after only a few seconds. I couldn't stay in them, it just felt suffocating. I don't know if this has to do with the lockers itself or I'm going insane. I'm leaning more towards insanity.
Walking into another room starting to collect. But can I hear a mechanical sound? And then a beep beep and I felt myself being dragged into cover. And then I heard the bullets fire.
The next thing I heard was a growl of pain. İt was Su-Jin holding his shoulder as I saw the blood drip out. Has my brain finally registered what had happened. He saved me
If he didn't act I would be pumped full of lead. My carelessness is the reason that he is injured. I shouldn't be alive right now but I am. I pulled out the Med kit. Still shaken from the realization.
“I'm sorry, let me help…”
“No!..there seems to be a switch on that wall. I can take care of the injury myself close that and go to the next room…join up with you soon as I finish”
I gave a nod and peaked out of cover. I watched the turrets. And the lasers. I knew enough spy movies to know what this meant. And there was a path I could see. I took a deep breath. Waited for the right moment.
And I jumped out of cover running to the next cover and then the next and then the next. I felt like I was in a spy movie or something. But getting caught would mean death instead of just alarms.
I made it, I don't know how butI made it. I pulled the switch and then I heard that voice again.
“You're no fun”
This time I managed to take a glance at the number pad. There was a crudely drawn angry face just for a second and it disappeared and the number appeared again 50. I looked back at Su-Jin. He was still bandaging himself. I whispered another apology as I walked out.
I was alone. He wasn't dead but I was alone. I looked at the door ahead and the blue glow. another key card. But the room only had one drawer. This was going to be easy. As I stepped inside. I heard something metal hit the floor. And a voice.
“over here”
It was muffled and kind of grovely. but I knew that voice.I looked at where the voice came from. The open vent. My heart started racing again. Memories flooding back in. No this can't be possible. It couldn't be.
Sebastian that was Sebastian's voice. I looked at the vent. It was pitch Black inside. But I knew what I heard. Or did I? There might be something in here able to copy voices. But then how would they know Sebastian's voice?
Or maybe I have started to hear voices. Maybe there's something in this facility that is making me. Hallucinate yes yes that must be. I should just get the key card and get out of here.
I walked to the drawer. You just get the key card and get out. Simple you can't mess this up. I opened and there was nothing. The drawer was empty. Then I heard the voice again.
“If you're searching for a key card it's here”
He sounded annoyed and impatient. Like how he cursed out traffic. I approach the vent looking at it. I could feel my heart in my ears. Maybe there were tears in my eyes. And maybe none of this is real and I'm hallucinating.
But I still crouched. I looked into that abyss. It was calling to me. Smell of sweat and fish was on the other side. I closed my eyes. If this is how I die at least I got to hear him for one last time.I started crawling.
“Finally”
I was out. I opened my eyes. It was pitch Black. And the smell was even more potent and more disgusting. The voice spoke again. It was just like when we were late to school and I finally managed to get out the door.
"Welcome,welcome!”
There was a click as the lights opened and I could see what was making that noise. The first thing I saw was its tail and then.
“Don't be afraid,”
It was kind of hard not to be. As I looked at it. It was massive with sharp teeth and claws. Kept speaking like him. I started to get up. I need to take a closer look. I need to know I observed his features.
The scales, the three eyes, three arms, the tail. Angler fish bulb, and Fins. İt was not human, it couldn't be my brother. It sounds like my brother. Specifically when he's having a terrible day but has to be polite.
Am I actually still alive or did I die. What if he couldn't save me and maybe this is just a fragment of my imagination? I tried to stare at it in the eyes. İt wasn't looking back at me, it didn't have pupils but I knew that it wasn't looking at me.
Thousand thoughts in my head as I felt my cheeks get a little wet. I wasn't paying attention to what it was saying. But then I heard it. I heard it. Something that I wanted to hear and also didn't.
“My name is Sebastian. your only friend.”
“SEBASTIAN”
I exclaimed his name is Sebastian. He introduced himself with the name Sebastian. This isn't possible but if it's.
“Yes Sebastian”
He sounded confused and annoyed. He was looking at me in the eyes and I focused on his face. And I could see Sebastian İn his expression. What sealed the deal was a faded scar on the place that a nose would be. İt was him.
And he didn't know who I was. I had to remind him I had to say it. Even if it isn't him I have to. With tears in my eyes.
“Alejandro it's me Alejandro”
And then I saw something in his eyes shift the annoyance turning into something else. That I couldn't fully read with his new face. The silence was deafening as I felt my heart beat out of my chest and then the claw came toward me.
But I didn't fear it, I accepted it. As he grabbed me. Bringing me to his face. He stared at me and I stared back into his eyes. The smell was even more horrible here. And the grip was a little tight.
But I didn't care if he needed to take a closer look at me to confirm. As long as he just confirms it, as long as I can hear his voice. He lifted up one of his fingers to touch my face. My beard. I have a beard.
And then it hit me. I am all grown up. He doesn't recognize me because I'm a 25 year old man. A 25-year-old fuck up. As I finally understood that expression. İt was horror. Horror at what I have become.
I felt the grip tighten. He was going to kill me. I deserve it. I couldn't follow in his footsteps, I couldn't stay in school and I couldn't become a photographer. But before he did I wanted one thing.
“Can I hear you sing once again?”
And he put me down. Staring at me for a few seconds his expression slowly changed. Anger and sadness at the same time. As he opened his mouth I knew I deserved any insult that might come.
“Alejandro, why would you agree? Why would you throw your life away like this?”
His voice was pained and angry. Sounded like he was on the verge of crying. I knew the answer. I spit it out with tears.
“Because I had a feeling.”

AvM Fanfic - House for Two [Chapter 1 - A Start]
This story takes place after AvM Ep 30, and tells a slow-burn found family story. This story will cover topics such as family death, grief, trauma, low self-esteem, emotional abuse, s*icidal thinking, panic attacks, anxiety (and anxiety attacks), emotional anger issues, and depression. If some of these topics make you uncomfortable, I don't recommend reading them.
The story is about Purple and Orange learning to be a family and dealing with their own traumas and mental health issues, it's a story of angst and comfort with found family fluff.
If i were to give an age range, I would say 17+.
[TW: This chapter contained a scene with an anxiety/panic attack]
[you are allowed to point out spelling errors]
After everything that happened, it still seems unreal that this was happening to them. Purple, who had been looking for validation from their father since they were a child, found themself involved with a man whose past they didn't fully know, only that he wanted to destroy Minecraft,a game, and that to do that he needed information about five specific individuals.
Five stick figures known to Purple, they had what this man wanted, and they would give Purple whatever they wanted. And all Purple wanted was validation. Validation that they weren't useless.
That... went wrong. Not only did the five manage to escape the trap they had planned, but this man denied them the power he had promised to share, and abandoned them when they asked him for help.
If it weren't for Green, Purple would never have forgiven themselves for causing so much trouble to their friends.
Motivated by Green, they flew back to the nether to the battlefield to stop that man. With every attempt, every blow and fall, Purple would fix what they caused, no matter how much their conscience told them they were weak, pathetic and useless.
That's why their father abandoned them with their mother, that's why they couldn't help her, that's why she was…
But they didn't listen, even with Green trying to stop them, unable to move due to the hardships of the battle, even if this could be the end for them, they had to fix this.
They ran, using their elytra to go faster, running against the direction of the crowned man, who pointed his staff at the act charged with the fusion of two game icons, a white vortex consuming every block of the game from the ceiling of the nether, the young stick didn't stop, they continued to get closer.
Noticing their approach, the king quickly pointed his staff in their direction, the white lightning propelling them back, but they kept strength on their feet to keep themselves standing.
"I'm not going to give up..."
They said to themselves, covering their faces with their arms in front of their body, they continued to walk forward, their insect wings disintegrating with each step until they completely disappeared in the white glare.
They felt a nausea in their stomach, a weakness in their legs, but they didn't stop, they didn’t flinch, they would catch up to the man even if it was the last thing they did.
"I won't give up, King!!"
They shout at the king's direction, a glare meeting their eyes. With a growl he just fortified the power in the staff, causing Purple to be driven backwards once again, their feet dragging against the reddish floor.
The stick figure continued, they weakly raised their hand towards the king, tears evaporating as they approached the man.
The man was staring at them, his hands seemed to be shaking, his eyes were wide open, he was panting and sweating, this reaction, his expression. His lips moved but Purple couldn't hear him.
One step forward and their legs weaken.
They are carried away by the white lightning like a current, floating past their friends who watch in terror.
There was a loud clang of metal. And from what little Purple could see before disappearing in the white flash, there was the man, running towards them with a horrified look.
Purple woke up in an empty and dark environment, they were alone, every place they looked looked the same, but then, a path began to show itself.
A circle of light with pink petals on the ground begins to appear in front of them. Without knowing what this was, they began to follow the enlightened path.
Little by little photographs began to appear around them, some from when they were a baby, others from when they were a child, and then that of their parents.
They try to ignore the photos of their father training them, his frustrated growls escalating into angry complaints, the constant negative comments.
"Weak. Pathetic. Useless."
They felt tears fall from their eyes remembering those words, they covered their ears begging them to stop.
They fall to their knees on the floor, staring at the ground for a few seconds before lifting their heads to find their mother's grave. Their father stared at them from behind the grave before turning his back and disappearing into the darkness.
"D-Dad..." with a weak voice Purple extends their hand towards him, but soon they look down and kneel down on the cold floor.
The tombstone disappears, leaving young Purple alone again. Allowing themselves to be carried away by tears, they hug their legs, bringing them closer to their chests, placing their forehead on their knees, crying quietly.
"I AM pathetic..."
It seemed like everything was over, without family, without friends, without anything. Purple only had themselves.
"Purple!"
Alarmed, Purple tilted their head towards the voice, distant but getting closer, they certainly couldn't see it, only hear the footsteps.
Soon, they could see a figure running towards them, for a second they thought it was their father and started to get up.
"D-Dad..?" Their hopes grew but any doubts he had would be confirmed.
But It wasn't their father.
"I'm sorry!!" Within seconds Purple is almost knocked off balance by the hug he never expected. King, he came back for them, he hugged them, he was apologizing, Purple was stunned, they didn't know how to react.
"I'm sorry, I-I didn't want that, I was blind with hate and I didn't mean for you to get hurt!" He hugged them tightly, his tone not cold or serious, he was tearful, his voice cracking with each sentence. He was almost a different person, more emotional, more open.
"I'm sorry..." he cried, weakening the hug, but Purple, sniffling, hugs him back, welcoming this change in the man. Burying their faces in his shoulder, trying not to think about whether this was a dream or not.
Whatever it was, they didn't want to wake up.
A few minutes in that void seemed like an eternity, but it didn't take long for the gang to stop the icons and save the entire game, including the two of them. King and Purple were knocked back to the ground together, the older one protecting the younger one from the impact.
Green looks at them, and takes a second to be relieved that his friend was safe and well. Second Coming, the hollow head, was back with the icons and the staff panting with all the adrenaline running through them. They were also happy that Purple was okay.
After a while, after saying goodbye, this is how these two, Purple and King started to live together.
What bizarre conditions. They came looking for validation and ended up with a new guardian.
But even after the storm passed, there were still complications. King-or, Orange's house was small, and almost a year of working on the staff resulted in a cold and disorganized environment.
Orange's house was a mess, failing staffs thrown against the floor, a wall filled with scribbles and plans, an unfurnished bed, empty and cold, a refrigerator with little food, and almost no furniture, all sold so he could get the money for the command block.
Seeing these conditions Purple felt awkward. They didn't know what to do in situations like this, for the last ten years they lived with their mother in a small but cozy apartment, they didn't have much food and they lived by selling flowers that almost no one bought.
Purple found herself in a new home but at the same time it didn't feel like one. Orange seemed indifferent and tired, seeing the scribbles and staffs filled with self-resentment and remorse, the memories it was all based on makes him uncomfortable, that much Purple could see.
Within hours Orange prepared the staffs to be sold online, and the scribbles would be covered by a curtain. Now what they needed to do was take care of the rest, the dirt accumulating in the corners, the mold staining the walls, the rats and spiders crawling around the house, it was all a precarious situation.
Orange lived in a poorer neighborhood, he didn't have much to do locally, he would have to go to the city after a year of being a hermit. Orange could see Purple's discomfort and how out of place they feel. They're a city kid after all, they probably didn't know how to adapt to a situation like this.
How did he know they were from the city? Chic clothes. Ever since he met them Purple had manners, they just dressed elegantly, it's clear that they have a taste for fashion, and Orange had never met a teenager from the surrounding area who dressed like them.
This doesn't seem important, but Orange snorts awkwardly when in the same room as Purple. In comparison, he dresses simply and maturely, how does this child dress more mature than him? It was as if they were from different worlds.
Little did they know that they had much more in common than they thought.
Just one day that they now live together and there is already a complication, beds. There was only one bed, and Orange felt uncomfortable at the mere idea of having to share it with a minor, Purple even more as they turned towards him and lowered their head towards him.
"Sorry, I-I'll find another way to sleep." They say in an apologetic tone, grabbing part of their blouse and pulling it down nervously. Their lips trembled, a lack of eye contact.
They weren't just awkward, Purple was even more uncomfortable. Orange looks at them lamenting the state of the situation, he didn't want them to be cold, there were no mattresses and he wouldn't let them sleep on the floor, so with a deep breath he looks at Purple maturely.
"It would be wrong for me to let you sleep in the cold. You can use my bed for now." he says with a vague expression, eyes focusing on the stick teen in front of him, closing a hand on their shoulder, but he stops, he thought it would only make them more uncomfortable and just refused to touch them.
After everything he's done, he was afraid of approaching Purple like that, but the kid didn't even have anywhere else to go at the moment, and all he knows is that they don't even have a relative with them. They didn't say anything more than that.
A fifteen-year-old teenager, alone in a big city living with a hermit with anger issues who has also hurt them before? Yeah, that's a recipe for disaster.
How Purple can forgive him so easily still leaves him confused, all he did was be hostile and make him betray the only ones they considered friends, if anything, they should hate him!
"What..?" the young stick looks up at him with a confused look, "B-but, it's your home, your bed! You deserve the comfort, I-I'm just a visitor!" he waves his hands above his shoulders in rejection.
Orange raises a straight hand, shushing Purple, "No, you're right, you're my visitor, and views have to be treated well." a salty and emotionless tone came out of the man, not out of rudeness, but just a lack of enthusiasm or motivation, he just wanted to stop thinking about everything that had happened.
Pinching the middle of his eyes he turns to Purple, "Let's do it like this, you sleep on one side, I sleep on the other, like, you sleep on one end and I sleep on the other." he sighs, "does this make sense to you?" he asks with his hands on his hips and a tired look.
"And I guess so..?" Purple responds nervously, hand on one arm with his head down. "I'm just going to put my things away..." they lower their tone, Orange expressing discomfort at them by bowing to him before leaving. They only did this when he acted like the "king".
Shaking that thought out of his head, he sits down on the mattress, smoothing the covers with one hand, feeling the softness of the bed. He had a tired expression, dark circles under his eyes, he still felt a lot of back pain from the battle. Those kids know how to kick some ass.
He touched his chin, he remembers the red kid hitting him with a golden block right there. It still hurts, so he just stops before he dislocates his jaw. He stares at the ground, resting his arms on his legs, lost in thought.
Purple was generous in coming to this shack of a house, they even went out for a few hours, for a while Orange thought they were gone, and came back with a luggage full of belongings.
Clothes, toiletries, personal items, they were actually moving with him. He couldn't believe it when they came back with that heavy suitcase and backpack.
He could still see the backpack from the corner of his eye, sitting thrown on the floor half open, between the emptiness and some belongings still inside he could see what looked like a gleam of glass.
Raising a curious eyebrow he stood up and went to the bag, getting down on one knee he opened it to get a better look.
A photo. It was Purple, a little younger, and a pinkish woman next to them. Further above the photo there was a hole in the glass, a part of the outside seemed to have been ripped out, hiding a third figure in the photo, a hand on the woman's shoulder.
Purple seemed happy, a little shy or nervous from the expression, but it wasn't like he had more time.
Purple will quickly get a photo of Orange's hand looking at them in surprise. They were now wearing a light pink sweater, looking at him with a shocked and uncomfortable look.
"S-sorry, you were taking a while and found this in the backpack and..." Purple lets him speak, taking the backpack and putting the photo inside, in no time at all they look at Orange.
"It's nothing..." they keep staring at the backpack in their hands, not even wanting to look at the man. "Just forget what you saw..."
Orange crestfallen feels bad about it, he remembers the day they met and he got defensive when they touched his photo with-
"Ouche..!"
Orange looked towards Purple at the sound of the backpack falling to the ground, they were holding their hand tightly, and worried Orange approached to see what it was.
Apparently Purple had touched the broken glass, cutting their fingers in the process. They tried to hide the cut from Orange but it was too late, he had already seen the blood dripping from the wound.
"If you don't treat it, it will get infected." Orange offers his hand, "let me see?" he asks in a soft tone. Purple looks at him cautiously before shaking his hand and looking to the side.
Orange starts to look at the cut more closely, two of his fingers had small cuts, they weren't big so they would be easily treated.
"I have a first aid kit in the bathroom." he says holding Purple's hand and leading them to the bathroom. There he opens the pharmacy and takes out a box with a medical symbol on it, opening it and taking out a wound medicine.
"This might sting a little."
"I can handle it."
Purple responds quickly, surprising Orange a little, but it's true that they lasted a lot in that fight back there, they're stronger than he expected.
Placing the medicine on some cotton wool, he applies a little to the cuts. Purple, feeling the medicine entering the wound, groans in pain a little, trying not to make it too obvious that it hurts.
Orange had seen this many times in the past, and as he stopped breathing, threw the dirty cotton away, and began to put bandages on their fingers.
The bandages were orange with a smiley face in it, which made Purple laugh softly. Seeing Purple smile, even for something silly like a children's bandage, made Orange smile slightly.
"I'll see if I can make something to eat." He starts to put the kit back when Purple stops him, putting a hand on his.
"You can go, I'll clean it for you, Mr. Orange." Purple smiles politely at him, Orange looks at them for a few seconds before sighing and leaving the kit with them, leaving the bathroom and heading to the kitchen.
Purple packs everything back into the kit and puts it inside the pharmacy, seeing a pair of toothbrushes, a brown toothbrush and a yellow children's toothbrush.
While the adult one seemed well used, the child one looked like it had been abandoned, this leaves a morbid feeling in Purple's chest, but who were they to question these things, they shouldn't meddle in other people's lives.
Purple closes the pharmacy looking at the sink in front of them, placing his hands delicately on the corners of the sink thoughtfully. Orange has been very generous with them.
They betrayed him, they confronted his authority. If anything, they should be the last person to trust.
Shaking their head, they push that thought to the back of their mind. It wasn't time to question themselves, they were going to make themself useful to Orange.
Leaving the bathroom, they go to where the only table was located, next to a window just in front of the scribbled wall now covered by long, old curtains.
Sitting down, Purple looks towards where the kitchen was located, in the right part of the house, a part they hadn't seen yet.
They could hear sounds of cutlery and stove, and could still feel a delicious smell coming from there. Whatever it is, they must be polite.
After, not long, Orange comes to the table with two dishes, a healthy smoke rising from the meal of well-made veggie garlic noodles.
"I had some pasta and vegetables saved, I hope this turns out well." he gently places Purple's plate in front of them and sits down with his, "we're running out of lots to eat, I'm going to have to go to the store tomorrow." He starts to pick up the utensils when he looks at Purple and their shocked and admiring gaze.
Orange is taken back a bit, he didn't expect them to be so impressed with his basic cooking skills. This gave him a slight reddening on his cheeks.
"Better eat it before it gets cold." This seems to wake Purple up from their trance, leaving them embarrassed, picking up their fork to start eating. When they put a small portion in their mouth, Purple pauses to admire the flavor.
they have already eaten good food before, but this is even more good for them. They didn't feel worthy of something as good as this. But being faced by Orange's intimidating but serene gazes, they just continued to eat the dish.
"Did you..." the older man pauses, taking a dose of his meal, "Did you like it...?"
Purple pauses to chew and swallow what was already in their mouth, looking at Orange in confusion.
"Oh yes, it's very good!" They continue, "You're a great cook." they say with a gentle smile.
This relieves Orange, having thought for a moment that Purple didn't like the food. He was happy to have done something that pleased the youngest.
The two remained silent for the rest of the meal. When they finished, Orange got up, taking the dishes to wash, but Purple followed him into the kitchen.
"I can help." they say with their hands behind their backs and a pleading smile. Orange just looks at them and sighs, allowing them to give them a sponge and leaving them a space next to him.
Purple smiles widely, joining him in cleaning not only today's dishes, but some other dishes and utensils that had been dirty, apparently for a while now.
"Are you sure you can handle it?" Orange raises an eyebrow, looking at them from the corner with a smirk. Purple smiles back at him and extends the sleeves of their sweater getting ready to start washing without any problems.
It wasn't a competition, just Purple proving he could do it. This gives Orange a fatherly smile, a feeling he must have forgotten a long time ago.
It didn't last long until most of the dishes were already clean and set out to dry. Orange could see fatigue and tiredness in Purple's eyes, but they continued to clean.
"I think I've had it for you, kid." he says, taking the plate from their hands who look at him confused. "You look tired, go take a shower and sleep, I'll take care of it." he says in a sincere and calm tone.
Purple tries to protest but the older man just raises a hand in front of their face and points to the exit of the kitchen in silence, focused on the dishes to be washed.
Purple sighs and starts to leave the kitchen without complaint. Orange laughs softly, shaking his head lightly, never has he seen a child so dedicated to washing the dishes.
He remembers washing the dishes like this, hearing a sweet young voice calling him to play, getting frustrated when he was told "not now", but in a friendly and patient tone.
This memory makes him stop for a moment. He felt a pain in his heart, an emptiness. Even with his hand wet and soapy, he holds the fabric of his shirt to his chest, the urge to cry coming to him.
He holds himself back, he didn't want Purple to see him like this. He just went back to finishing the dishes until they were all clean.
Turning off the water in the sink, he cleans his hands with a cloth. Seeing his wet shirt, he leaves the kitchen, removing the item of clothing and throwing it against the headboard of the bed, going to a closet and finding a turtle neck shirt to wear. That one was more comfortable for him to sleep with.
He takes the wet shirt and puts it in a laundry basket full of other clothes to be washed, sighing at the amount still dirty. He sits on the bed, staring at the ceiling thoughtfully.
After a while Purple comes out of the bathroom wearing a butterfly sleeve t-shirt, Orange looks at them, starting to wonder if they only had elegant clothes or if it was just him who didn't know anything about stylish clothes. For him, even clothes with different details were chic.
Purple sighed, scratching their eyes with one hand. They sit on the bed next to Orange in silence.
"If you're still uncomfortable, I can still find another place to sleep." Purple looks at him dumbfounded.
"Your house, your bed, you sleep here!" Purple points to the bed they were both sitting on, Orange laughs under the breath of the younger's reaction.
"Okay, okay." he says, arranging the pillows and putting one in one corner of the bed and another on the other side, which he lays his head on.
Purple smiling leaves his head on their pillow. Orange gets up a little, remembering that he forgot about the sheets. He gets out of bed and opens the closet, taking out two blankets that were inside.
Returning to bed he could see that Purple was already asleep, bringing him a soft smile. He places one of the blankets over Purple, tucking them in gently before laying down on his side of the bed, and covering himself up as well.
He closes his eyes, but he can't seem to fall asleep. His old age kept him awake, and for the most part he just couldn't keep himself comfortable.
In the middle of the night he got up and walked out the front door, sitting on the steps at the entrance.
He begins to look at the sky thoughtfully, letting his gaze just get lost in the stars and his skin be touched by the cold wind. He had closed the door so that the cold wouldn't bother Purple, who were still sleeping peacefully. Good for them, they need more than Orange.
His foot moved, he intertwined his fingers, trying to focus on the desire to sleep, but nothing came. Neither sleep nor tiredness, the cold didn't even bother him.
Slowly he begins to feel tension in his chest, his breathing begins to accelerate little by little. He quickly put his hands around his head, headache? Perhaps? He didn't even know anymore.
He was getting lost in his rapid breathing, his chest trying to keep up but failing. He clutches the chest of his shirt, feeling his breathing get worse, more uncontrolled, and then...
Tears.
Tears began to fall uncontrollably from her face. Orange couldn't control it, he couldn't hold it in any longer. And so, he just let himself go.
Crying softly, not wanting to wake Purple up. He felt a pain in his chest that didn't stop, and at the same time he couldn't control his breathing, just pulling his legs closer to his chest and covering his mouth with one hand.
Eyes blurred with tears, he just couldn't forget the pain of having lost the most important thing to him.
Taking the photo of him with Gold, he couldn't stop craving his son's affection, the hugs, affection, moments when the little one would wipe away his tears when he cried like that.
Losing his little ray of sunshine was a dagger in the heart, no, multiple ones. A heart that had been pierced before, and healed by the love of his son, a heart broken, crushed and cursed to have everything he loves taken from him.
So why should he care about himself? He failed as a father, he couldn't protect what was most precious to him.
He can't understand why he continues...
"Mr. Orange."
Purple. Purple was alone, they didn't seem to have a family or a place to live, and they also seemed broken if that void they found themselves in meant anything.
Purple was a child. He couldn't leave them alone, they needed him right now. He cannot leave them without help.
Wiping away the tears, and slowly taking control of his breathing again, even if with difficulty, he stands firm, taking deep breaths and looking at the stars above him.
He may have failed before, but he wouldn't fail Purple. He may not be their father, but he will make sure Purple is happy, protected and comfortable.
He doesn't care what happens to him, only Purple. They are the priority, not him. They matter, not him.
Taking a deep breath he opens the door of the house and enters, seeing the youngest still sleeping he just sits next to the bed, lightly laying his head on the mattress looking at the ceiling.
His eyes close lightly until he falls asleep.
