Xie Lian: Sure we have a safe word, though my San Lang is so considerate I've never needed to use it.
Shen Qingqiu: Having a safe word is pretty important. You have to let your partner know if you don't like something, even if it makes them cry. Why are you laughing?
Wei Wuxian: Well, it's just... You know how it is when you're begging for mercy and it just encourages your husband to be even crueler?
Shen Qingqiu: ...no?
Xie Lian: Um...
Wei Wuxian: It's like, no matter what you say, or do, or want, it doesn't matter. Like the situation is just out of your control. There are no decisions to be made and no actions for you take. All you can do it just take whatever is happening to you. It's very freeing. I just feel like it wouldn't work if I could stop him. I'd still be in control and I don't want that.
Shen Qingqiu: ...T-That...that sounds terrible! I'm married to a demon, he's married to a Calamity and yet somehow you and your human husband are the most depraved. I feel like out of all of us, you need a safe word the most. Don't you agree Xie Lian?
Xie Lian *blushing*: ...um, actually, I think Wei Wuxian makes a compelling argument. *Pulling out a set of dice* I need to go.

Wangxian plot bunny I may or may not write, but I encourage people to write as well 🫡
Wei Wuxian: I have an excellent idea for people to leave us alone.
Wen Qing: oh boy...
Wei Wuxian: don't you wanna know what I got?
Wen Qing: stupider?
Wei Wuxian: booo! Anyway. I'm gonna send this message at the Great Sects and they'll be so disgusted they'll leave us alone!
Wen Qing: "if you want to keep the Yilling Laozu from doing horrible, ghost cultivation, then send someone as a sacrifice to have nasty, disrespectful sex with him. Those who exceed his expectations will gain everything he owns".
Wei Wuxian: See? 100% guarantie of success! Nobody will take the offer and if they do, I just say it wasn't good enough! Win-win for me!
Wen Qing: so you got stupider. Alright. Scrape that idea
Wei Wuxian:...
Wen Qing: what. Did. You do.
Wei Wuxian: I already sent it to the major sects...
Wen Qing: I swear tO GOD!!
Meanwhile, at the big sects:
At Yunmeng jiang: the message was ripped apart by Jiang Cheng because he knows Wei Wuxian 's brand of stupid and isn't going to fall for it. Also, not willing to send someone to Yilling, like, think of their reputation!
At Qinghe Nie: the message was also ripped apart by Nie Mingju because he thinks Wei Wuxian is mocking them by calling out their righteousness. They're not sending anyone either, but Nie Huaisang 's brain is going "??.. !"
At Lanling Jing: there's a huge debate about which prostitute to send him, how much they'll have to pay said prostitute to keep the Yilling Laozu content and get their hand on the Yin Tiger Tally without sacrificing too much on their side. Everyone is shooting everyone in the foot. Nothing concrete is done.
At Gusu Lan: the message was ripped apart and everyone is shaking their heads at the shamelessness of the Yilling Laozu, they're too "above" to even consider sending anyone. Lan Qiren, knowing Wei Wuxian 's brand of stupid (same as his mother, hmpf!) is nearly ripping his beard off from how mocking the boy is! Lan Xichen is sighing at yet another proof Wei Wuxian has fallen because of his cultivation. He goes to tell his brother not to do anything rash but Lan Wangji is already gone. Oops.
A month later, Lan Wangji comes back with a gaggle of old people and a child. And the Yilling Laozu, dragging his feet and trying to escape. Lan Wangji says "excuse me." at the sentries before walking to the sides in the forest for.. about 45 minutes? and when he comes back, Wei Wuxian is disheveled and loopy. He looks like he's been mauled by a fierce beast. The rest of the Wen group look exhausted and used to it, wishing they could be set somewhere so they don't have to endure their Yilling Laozu being ravished (enthusiastically) by Hanguang-jun four times a day. Wen Yuan is just happy Wei-gege and Rich-gege made up.

I haven't actually seen that much sub stuff on Wewuxian
So do you currently have any thirst ideas for him?
ෆ ִ ׁ sub wei wuxian
cw; throat fucking, slapping, choking, gn neutral i guess
wei ying is the type that loves to try different and dirty things. so you shouldn't be surprised if one day he asks you to choke him and slap him while you are fucking his mouth.
what can i tell you, when he is in the act of sex, he is so lassive and insatiable.
the vulgar sounds of his throat fucking you made him roll his eyes in pleasure as saliva ran down the corner of his mouth.
wei wuxian would smile making his teeth scrape your flesh. you would kiss in disgust and grab him by the hair deepening your movements.
"you have the moistest, warmest throat i have ever known."
the man would just wink at you as he kept moving his mouth rapidly over you. his puffy red cheeks gave him a cute look and the sweat on his skin made him look like he was glowing. he was gorgeous.
when you felt at your limit and asked him to stop, he would immediately listen to you and wait for your command. "I want you to slap me while you come in my mouth."
"nhg, shut up wei ying." you would say feeling your sex throbbing furiously.
the black-haired man would approach you again and massage you without your permission, spreading kisses affectionately.
"come on love… I know you want to do it, I know you like to treat me bad." the man would say smiling at you and blowing you a kiss.
before he said anything else you would grab him by the neck and pull him closer to you. "Suck it and don't even think about complaining."
he would quickly assist by opening his mouth and taking you completely. a moan escaped from both of your mouths, you because of how warm and good his tongue felt. and wei ying… well because he loved to feel you in his mouth.
"aaahgn, nnngh,. mmmm" you could only hear the gurgling sounds of your essence mixing with wei wuxian's saliva. also your hand was still pressing on his throat and you could feel him gagging easier and it was harder for him to take it all in. your movements were brutal, you came completely out of his luscious mouth and then you came in hard.
at one point you felt the man slowly faint while you were still in the best part. you had no choice but to slap him to make him rectify. "don't even think about it, slut."
"yes master, yes, yes, yes, i am your slut."

Wow. Some awful JC stans have just absolutely harassed the shit out of some poor person who can read Chinese and English and made a post about how modao and guidao are different and the importance of it being translated as such in the novel (which 7S ballsed up big time ffs).
People are creating new accounts on Reddit just to keep saying things to OP, and when they have inevitably lost their cool, retaliating with sarcasm, others are jumping on them and calling them out instead of the people being complete psychos!!! Wtaf?!
I hope OP is okay. I can't believe such a reaction just because they are explaining a fact in the novel that has been mistranslated. And of course it's some of the more extreme stans hitting back saying they are "whitewashing WWX's crimes" and the old "non-consensual surgery" bs regarding JC and the apparent need for WWX to apologise to JC at the end of the novel! Delusional much? I think fucking so!

imo reducing the jiang clan dynamics to "wei wuxian was only a servant, never family" undermines the tragic reality that he was both. his position was a dubious, unclear thing, complicated by his debts and the jiangs' varying intentions.
jiang yanli had called him her brother and treated him like one in direct defiance of their class differences and her mother's words. jiang fengmian had seen wwx as a replacement for his parents, not a son, as evident in his passive refusal to defend wwx and his prioritization of his actual son's life. yu ziyuan had seen him as an arrogant servant transgressing class norms and threatening her son's position, and she had consequently scapegoated him at every turn. jiang cheng, the youngest, inherited all of their sentiments in one way or another.
the love was there, it was not enough. so mdzs concludes the jiang clan sub-plots by having jc let wwx leave. that's important. he chose to let to go of the yunmeng shuangjie promise, the oath of fealty. because wwx's position with the jiangs — a brother, yet also a servant, an outsider, never an equal, certainly never a son, bound by duty — made a mockery of love. i think that's more tragic than him being solely a servant and nothing more.
and not to make this lan wangji (actually, everything is always about lan wangji), but that's why it's so important that wwx found a home in him, in a relationship that has no need for debts like "thank you" and "sorry."

Fic Finder
March 14th
~*~
1. Hi I've been trying to find this fic where wwx went back in time to cloud recess and he freaks out in the middle of the class and ran out and jump off a cliff and he survived and the cloud recess helped him heal and be happy again. Thank you I'm advance ☺️@limaly26
FOUND?🔒 Without end by barisan (M, 69k, WIP, WangXian, Time Travel, Suicide Attempt, Hurt/Comfort, Depressed WWX, Good Uncle LQR, Bad Parent YZY, Bad Parent JFM, Implied/Referenced Child Abuse, Implied/Referenced Self-Harm,   PTSD, Panic Attacks, Yunmeng Jiang bashing, Sentient Resentful energy, Medical inaccuracies)

2. Haven’t read one in a while, and I’m itmf hardcore angst. Looking for a fic that I read back in 2021~2022. It was post-canon where many still hated the Yiling Patriarch. Some of those people were able to kidnap wwx. They tortured and abused him for days before he was found half dead. Wwx was so injured that I’m pretty sure he even lost his sight for a bit and wouldn’t let anyone touch him after being found. I read it on AO3 and remember it was hurt/comfort (but there was a looooot of hurt before there was comfort). The author’s name was catchy and easy to remember (obviously not easy enough lol) and either the author or the title was like one word starting with a “v” or a “t” maybe? Idk. It was pretty popular, so I’m sure this one has been asked about before. @main-00
FOUND? Silenced by Tasharene (M, 63k, WangXian, Graphic Depictions Of Violence, Rape/Non-Con, Hurt/Comfort, Emotional Hurt/Comfort, PTSD, Temporary Blindness, Aversion to touch, Fear of crowds, Panic Attacks, Post-Canon, WWX Whump, Hurt WWX, Whump, Angst with a Happy Ending, world-class troll LXC, see the archive Warnings BEFORE you accuse me of not tagging things!!!)

3. Hello!! I was looking for a specific fic that I can’t seem to find now, it’s a finished work, it’s about succubus!wei wuxian, or at least I remember it being about him but after looking under the tag I wonder if I missed it, the author didn’t tag it, or he was made to be a creature incredibly similar to a succubus? The plot is that wwx is half succubus who has been ‘tamed’ by lwj, this is just mentioned in the fic it actually begins with lwj being a professor at a school and wwx offers for him to be used as a demonstration for class to see if people can resist his magic, that’s basically the entire fic. Thank you for your help!

4. Heyy so can someone plz help me find this fic? Its in ao3 the last time l read it it had only two chapters and its a lan wangji x jiang cheng and in it jiang cheng l believe he was poisoned really badly after fighting a monster in a forest but his spiders finds him and gets him to gusu and the last thing l remember was abt him carrying jin ling and finding lan wangji with a-yuan on the other side of the room😭searched up and down for it and l still couldn't find it I'm going nuts😔
Another fic is of JC deciding that his words are a curse and stops talking all together by taking an oath and he starts learning sign language and then he goes to gusu and LWJ sees him and stuff and its not complete either😔
Update: l found the first one, l still need the second one @reader-100

5. Hi! I'm looking for a fic I read a while ago. I tried looking under the WWX & LQR or the Good Uncle LQR tags on AO3 but can't find it.
It was a Cloud Recesses arc AU, and something made LQR have a change of heart about WWX (maybe morals, maybe time travel, idk). He talks with WWX about why he is acting out and starts teaching so WWX is actually challenged in class, which makes him thrive. A lot or all of the story was from LQR's pov.
I remember a specific part where LQR sees the guest disciples practicing sword forms and realizes WWX is purposefully under performing. He is doing just a bit worse than JWY, to make JWY seem the most talented. LQR reprimands WWX because training improperly will lead to bad habits that endanger himself and others on nighthunts. WWX immediately improves his form. Later LQR discusses WWX's progress with the instructor and says he should spar with LWJ. The instructor thinks WWX has improved, but not that dramatically. But LQR knows they fought the first night of lectures. So LWJ and WWX have an epic spar where WWX stops holding back and goes all out in front of the class (possibly with LQR and LXC looking on from the sidelines).
I don't remember anything after that so it may be unfinished. Thanks so much!!
FOUND? Just Say Yes Series by edenwolfie (T/M, 338k, WangXian, Matchmaking, Pining, Getting Together, Canon Divergence, POV Alternating, Fluff, First Kiss, Declarations Of Love, Humor, Cloud Recesses Study Arc, Good Uncle LQR, Engagement, Hurt/Comfort, Fix-It) but not sure if there is a spar between jc and wwx

6. Hi. I hope you a well. I am looking for 2 pics. (a) I don't remember well if it's a time travel or what. But wei ying started demanding money for use demonic cultivation. When Jiang Cheng ask him why he doesn't fight he said that jiang cheng told him to stop being a hero. (b) Wei ying saved a man, that man was unhappy about they way wei ying was treated and he directed a play about wei ying and lan wanji and their love story.

7. Been looking for this ao3 fanfic titled "YOUR NAME ON MY CHEST" by anonymous something like that. A wangxian modern au with a military theme. WY got the codename "Mulan" while LZ "Bucky". If I'm not mistaken everyone deemed WY the villain here after the "incident" where LZ almost ended up crippled. Please help, the author likely removed this fic on ao3. @lu-wanji

8. Hello! Hope you’re doing well.
I’m searching for a fanfiction where Wei Wuxian is saved by Lan Qiren (though I’m not sure if it’s him or Lan Wangji/Xichen). They are at Karp Tower for a conference when Madam Yu tries to drown Wei Ying after cruelly whipping him. He is found in the lake, barely alive, and Lan Qiren rescues him, bringing him to the Cloud Recesses. Wei Ying is deeply traumatized by the incident, and the cultivation world harshly judges Madam Yu for her cruelty. Thank you in advance for the help! @myukisora

11. Hello mods!! Hope you're well ^^ I'm searching for two specific fic.
A) The first one was a time travel fic. The juniors were somehow time travelling into sunshot era (i don't remember much it's been a long time since i read that) and meeting yllz!wwx and lwj. I remember lz and wy getting suspicious of them and discussing things?? The juniors were staying with them for days trapped in time and trying to talk to them to get information?? I dont really remember much. At some point post-canon wwx was finding them and time travelling too. Thats all i remember.
B) For the second one i was 100% sure i had this fic bookmarked but i couldn't find it no matter what T.T It was a dragonji and foxxian fic and it kinda started with wy and lz meeting on a night hunt. They kept coming across each other in random night hunts. I remember lz getting hurt and having to stay in his dragon(noodleji lol) form and wy finding him, caring for him without knowing it's him. At some point wy was joining cloud recesses studies and lz was finding out wy was literally WY (in the earlier chapters lqr was mentioning wy to lz and warning him about wy) It was something like that. I REALLY HOPE IT CAN BE FOUND😭😭
Anyways as always thank you in advance!!😚😚😚 @for13years-i-play-inquiry-foryou
I'm 11 and i actually found B bc yeah i was right it was in my bookmarks lol XD
I still need the first one though!!

13. Hi, I'm looking for an Ao3 fic where Lan Zhan becomes a little boy because of an experiment by Wei Ying. He goes through growth spurts at night. First he's a boy of about 8 years old who doesn't leave Lan Quiren's side. At night he grows into a boy of 13, then about 17, then to the age when he received the lashes and Wei Ying stays by his side comforting him. The next growth spurt is after Wei Ying died and he wants to get him out of the Lan sect for fear that he will lose him again. Jiang and jin gets destroyed by wen and end result lxc and nie bros want to make the whole jangu the empire and they crown wwx the king. Can u help me fund it?
B) The second one I think is a one shot maybe ? I don't remember the title sorry. It's wangxian. Hurt + comfort. The au where wc doesnt throw wwx into burial mounts but like treats him very very bad. When jc and lwj find him he is being used as footstool for wc. Still they rescue him. In nie fortress he is angry and snappy to everyone and lwj at last is like talk to me but wwx doesnt agree and wwx provokes lwj by saying bad things about himself and lwj is like no, so he strips everything off first his head peice and then his robes at last his ribbon he uses to tie his hands and kneel before wwx and something something. 20. Hi hi! There's this fic I've been searching through my bookmarks for but I simply couldn't find it :((
The plot goes that everyone has achieved immortality, WWX, LWJ, NHS, NMJ, LXC, JYL, JC, and JZX. However, Jin Ling was born mortal despite immortal parents so WWX casted an array that transferred his immortality to Jin Ling and died in the process. NHS became a victim to the array due to JGY's machinations. WWX is then reincarnated and becomes A-Yuan's dad and grows up in an orphanage with NHS as his brother. Later on, there's a whole thing where LSZ, LJY and Ouyang Zizhen is on a field trip where a cave collapses on them ans they achieve immortality. The abovementioned immortals (other than WWX and NHS) kidnap the juniors to guide them through immortality but in doing so, forcefully separates WWX and LSZ. Jin Ling feels bad for them and helps them escape from the immortals. He meets WWX and realises that he's alive and reincarnated, that leads to everyone finding out that WWX has been reincarnated. Later on, they all get kidnapped by JGY and XY threatens to torture LSZ so WWX volunteers himself. During this Valentine month, I found a show that came out of nowhere and gave the word "love" a new meaning.
Title: The Untamed
Available on: Netflix / YouTube
Language: Mandarin with Eng sub
Genre: Fantasy, Rebirth
An epic saga as old as time.
A story of two soulmates.
Destiny brought them together.
Life tore them apart.
Time tested their love.
And a miracle gave them a second chance.
They're Wei Wuxian and Lan Wangji.
As different as fire and ice.
Young Master Lan had never broken a rule...
Until he met Wei Wuxian.
Young Master Wuxian had never been tamed...
Until he met Lan Wangji.
The drama is so gripping and intense it made me cry, laugh, and bite my nails.
Tumblr media
Wait till episode 3 to let the story unfold, and after that there's no going back, it's so addictive! They not only focus on relationships and drama, they prioritize the plot and the adventures too.
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

So a couple years ago, I fell into watching Chinese dramas and because my posts about the most recent one garnered some curiosity, here are the dramas what I have watched.
Hikaru no Go
Tumblr media
DID YOU KNOW. DID YOU KNOW. THAT IN 2020 THERE WAS A CHINESE DRAMA ADAPTATION OF HIKARU NO GO AND IT IS AMAZING AND MADE ME CRY ALL OVER AGAIN? It is faithful in spirit while making understandable alterations both for the setting and to avoid managing child actors for the entirety of the series (there are about six episodes with Hikaru/Shi Guang as an elementary school student before a time jump to high school).
If you are unfamiliar with Hikaru no Go I recommend becoming familiar with Hikaru no Go, my first and still one of the best sports manga. It's what Takeshi Obata was the artist on before Death Note and my hot take is that Obata post-Hikaru no Go is mid at best.
Hikaru no Go is a sports series about the most normal boy finding an antique go board that houses the soul of an ancient go master who died too young and with go regrets, so he bullies/guilts the boy into helping him play go so he can see or play a divine go move. In the process he acquires a rival/stalker in the form of the genius son of a go master. It's amazing and the drama absolutely does it justice.
The heart of the series is the relationship between Hikaru/Shi Huang and Fujiwara no Sai/Chu Ying.
It's just a fucking good series.
The Untamed
Tumblr media
According to one description on imdb, this is about two friends solving a series of murders. This is technically true, although it neglects to mention a few details.
Sixteen years after doing a whole lot of demonic blood magic shit and dying because of it, hated by society, Wei Wuxian (Xiao Zhan) is brought back from the dead by more super demonic blood magic and is recognized by his noble and esteemed peer/friend Lan Wangji (Wang Yibo) and trying to deal with why Wei Wuxian has been brought back from the dead leads to their investigating a series of murders that result in their becoming entangled in wider political schemes stretching back twenty years.
It's got weird pacing, prolonged flashbacks to explain a lot of the relationship dynamics, and basically an entirely self-contained sub-story that brings the main plot to a grinding halt. There are creatures and CGI effects of interesting quality. There are amazing wigs. There are piles of corpses. There's physical torture and emotional torture and some doomed love stuff and sword fights and musical instrument fights and a donkey and chicken theft and brotherhood and what you're willing to sacrifice for your goals and what goals you're willing to sacrifice for and it is based on a novel that ends in the protagonists raw dogging on the side of the road.
That part's not in the show.
Douluo Continent
Tumblr media
Ignorant country boy Tang San (Xiao Zhan) finds himself involved in the world of martial arts and magic after discovering a hidden talent and ends up in the group of fellow martial artists who are all weird or unorthodox or hiding crucial bits of their backstory like girl who is actually a rabbit and immediately decides Tang San is her best friend/husband (Wu Xianyi), guy who needs to become powerful enough to kill his older brother (Gao Taiyu), girl who rejected an engagement to the would-be brother killer and wants to fight him (Liu Mei Tong), guy who wants to ditch martial arts to become a great actor (Liu Run Nan), and girl who is too rich to be here (Ding Xiaoying). They learn together, they grow together, they fight monsters and embark on a tournament arc, and there's an overarching mystery about Tang San and his weak but simultaneously super powerful spirit summoning.
Even though the best technique is clearly the one where the boy in question can summon a sausage that you eat and heals you.
It's very much of a specific genre that can be pretty samey, but Douluo Continent has a charming cast that makes up for its predictable plot beats.
It does end on a cliffhanger that is possibly resolved in the sequel series where ... all the main characters were recast with, I'm guessing, slightly less pricey actors. Such is the way of things.
Word of Honour
Tumblr media
Do you like knowing what's going on? Then get the fuck out of here, Word of Honour is not for you. Real ones want to be immediately submerged into chaos and confusion and secret identities. You want Mr Bones' Wild Ride in plot form. Why has former superassassin Zhou Zishu (Zhang Zhe Han) abandoned the sect of assassins he created to live in wandering drunk anonymity as he slowly dies? Why is Wen Kexing (Gong Jun) stalking him aside from poorly censored horny desires? Is Wen Kexing actually a ghost? Can any of the impressionable youths attaching themselves to Zhou Zishu and Wen Kexing be stopped from their very poor choices in role models? What is up with this legendary hidden armoury and why do Zhou Zishu and Wen Kexing seem unable to escape the conspiracy around it? HOW HARD IS IT TO GET WOLONG'S FAMOUS NUTS?
Not recommended for people who constantly want to know what's happening or why X is doing Y, but great if you want to watch with someone and then after an episode, walk your dogs and try to figure out what's going on and what's going to happen (you will be wrong).
Advance Bravely
Tumblr media
What if the most ridiculously unrealistic and unhinged slashfic by a teenage girl who doesn't fully understand anything was adapted into a drama series where censorship means everything must be painted with a special "no homo" brush? You get Advance Bravely which is the most incoherently homoerotic thing I've ever watched. No one thinks you should watch Advance Bravely and you watch Advance Bravely and you agree but sometimes you just have to watch a beautiful trainwreck where the protagonist explains his lack of a girlfriend with erectile dysfunction and the series climax involves his being, essentially, trapped in a well.
Love Between Fairy and Devil
Tumblr media
DO YOU WANT TO GO FULL SHOUJO MANGA FANTASY?
Innocent fairy Orchid (Yu Shuxin) just wants to strengthen her immortal spirit and pass the exam that would let her serve in the palace of the fairy capital so she can catch glimpses of the War God Chang Heng (Zhang Ling He) who she is hopelessly in love with. Instead, an attempt to help her crush causes her to bumble her way into the high security spiritual prison that has held Dongfang Qingcang, the Moon Supreme (Dylan Wang), for 30,000 years.
DO YOU LIKE BIG NUMBERS BECAUSE YOU WILL GET TO SEE SOME BIG NUMBERS IN TERMS OF TIME SPAN AND AGES.
Because of some plot magic, Orchid and the Moon Supreme swap bodies and loophole out of prison, much to her distress. Their fates are tied together and Orchid becomes more familiar with the wider world and the politics between the realms and how much the fairy realm's supreme ruler fucking suuuuuuuuuuuucks while Moon Supreme finds himself having feelings again after they were tortured out of him in a mystical coffin prison as a child.
Moon Supreme's closest friend is a dragon. Orchid's closest friend is an opportunistic snakeoil saleswoman. There's a pissy younger brother and a bitchy but honourable love rival. There are secret origins and reincarnation and hidden identities and the way it alternates broad comedy and melodrama and sweet romance may give you whiplash.
I just love a bodyswap, you guys.
Sailor Moon vibes but Mamoru is actually interesting and becomes likeable.
Guardian
Tumblr media
Okay so the best thing about Guardian is not only that it's a censored adaptation of a novel with a same-sex romance, but that /the entire premise/ is altered for television purposes.
The novel is steeped in Chinese folk religion and the Underworld is real and mythical creatures secretly walk among us.
In the show?
ALIENS, BABY.
Ghosts? THOSE AREN'T REAL BECAUSE HUMANS DON'T HAVE SOULS, THEY'RE JUST ENERGY BEINGS.
It's so ridiculous it's endearing.
Anyway, it's about bros solving mysteries with a Monster of the Week vibe until it becomes about possibly the end of the world and alien domination and evil twins.
Mysterious Lotus Casebook
Tumblr media
IT'S TIME TO SOLVE CRIMES. IN ANCIENT CHINA.
Quack doctor Li Lianhua (Cheng Yi) is just trying to live a quiet life with his dog and his horse-drawn house. Fang Duobing (Joseph Zeng) just wants to gain admittance into the martial art cop organization that's carrying on the legacy of his dead teacher, Li Xiangyi, who was maybe never actually his teacher and also wasn't killed ten years previously by Di Fei Sheng (Xiao Shunyao), the head of an evil martial arts sect who is also not dead. Not nearly as many people as people think are dead! Identities are cleverly hidden behind pseudonyms and various levels of mask!
Crimes are solved and Li Lianhua is very tired about the whole thing. It's an unwilling buddy cop sort of thing until it becomes about youthful hubris and the sins of the past and also one woman's determination to conquer the world and give it to the man she loves, even if he doesn't want the world and also doesn't love her. We love a woman who takes what she wants and if necessary cuts a man's tendons and imprisons him in a torture pool so his blood can't clot until he agrees to be her wife, don't we, folks?
Folks?
Story of Kunning Palace
Tumblr media
The scheming empress Jiang Xue Ning (Bai Lu) dies and wakes up, eighteen-years-old, at the point in her life where she's on the verge of making the start of the decisions that lead her to the Very Bad End. She is going to make different decisions this time and prevent the things she regrets and avoid becoming the empress at all costs.
What you need to know about Story of Kunning Palace is that Bai Lu could have chemistry with a rock and she inadvertently collects a bisexual harem. Her end game love interest is Xie Wei (Zhang Ling He), the man who killed her, an advisor to the emperor, music teacher, double or triple agent, and sufferer of vampire snow madness and a fear of cats, whether adorably fluffy or badly CGI'd. But she's in love with noble civil servant Zhang Zhe (Wang Xing Yue), a pure and hardworking man who she seduced into betraying his principles, leading to his imprisonment and probable death. However, her childhood friend Yan Lin (Zhou Jun Wei) is in love with her and previously she rejected him VERY HARSHLY after his family fell into disfavour due to political machinations and Jiang Xue Ning had cemented the likelihood of her marriage to the next emperor. Also there's Princess Le Yang (Liu Xie Ning), who Jiang Xue Ning made an enemy of after the Princess fell in love with her when Jiang Xue Ning was crossdressing and did not take the reveal of her true gender well. Xue Shu (Elisa Ye) is an unfavoured daughter of a scheming lord who was the only truly loyal person Jiang Xue Ning knew as empress. ALL OF THESE PEOPLE FALL IN LOVE WITH JIANG XUE NING and you look at Bai Lu and go 'yes, that makes sense'.
It's mostly about the politics and scheming and Jiang Xue Ning trying to find a way to have a stable, satisfying life without betraying everyone she knows and standing on a pile of corpses, but the love shape Jiang Xue Ning isn't fully aware she's in is comparable in complexity to the plots between ministers and lords and dowager empresses and cousins and rebels.
The choices the characters make are maybe not always the best choices, but DAMN are they a good time.
Story of Kunning Palace is also one of the only times I have begged a character in a show to take a particular action and then she DID IT and fuck it was satisfying.
The Sleuth of the Ming Dynasty
Tumblr media
IT'S TIME TO SOLVE CRIMES. IN ANCIENT CHINA. AGAIN. BUT WITHOUT MARTIAL ARTS.
Tang Fan (Darren Chen) is a low-ranking government official and detective genius who loves food and hates routine work, but loves a fucked up crime. Since he spends most of his money on delicious food, he writes trashy porn under a variety of pseudonyms to pay his rent. Sui Zhou (Fu Meng Bo) is an imperial guard and ex-soldier with PTSD who has no time for nonsense but loves the passionate pursuit of justice and food. He's also From Money and has a very empty house that Tang Fan whines his way into after they solve a case together. Everyone is manipulated by dangerously powerful eunuch Wang Zhi (Liu Yao Yuan) who is the enemy of basically everyone, except for Tang Fan, who has the political and social awareness of a rock.
An amiably pathetic man solves a variety of mysteries, from murder to complex imperial assassination plots and also this really complicated one involving diluting the purity of silver currency, and also the executive producer is Jackie Chan.
It's missing the romance subplot that I understand is in the source novel and also apparently there's an overarching plot involving a cult?! which we don't get here, but there's lots of bombs which are almost as good as a cult, maybe? (They're not.)
Divine Destiny
Tumblr media
This is the one we're currently watching and the ride that this show is. How many plots can be crammed into one show? How many ridiculous but true things can I say about this show?
Ji Ruochen (Ma Tianyu) is an orphan who dreams of martial arts adventures. Raised by a couple who run a Crime Inn, one day a customer robbery goes very wrong when the customer turns out to be the latest incarnation of Yin Feng, the Banished God (Marius Wang). Ji Ruochen accidentally kills the Banished God and his foster parents promptly take the body into the desert and dump it down a cliff, but not before taking a necklace made from a piece of Gu Qing, the Blue Stone Goddess (Xuan Lu), which is supposed to let her recognize the Banished God in their final incarnation. Accidentally stealing the Banished God's identity, Ji Ruochen finds himself a hotly desired commodity by the cultivation sects who are all eager to have the Banished God as a disciple for prophecy reasons. He goes with Zhang Yinyin (Angelababy), a feisty, argumentative girl who has had to work extra hard because her spirit was contaminated by a demonic root planted by the evil nine-tailed fox who is poorly imprisoned in a cave anyone can access.
MEANWHILE some dudes with amazing moustaches and a penchant for laughing in delight at their own evil have found the body of the Banished God and done some questionable mystical shit to put him in a new body and nurture a grudge against Ji Ruochen for stealing his identity.
THEN Gu Qing meets Ji Ruochen and like everyone else assumes he's the Banished God and she falls in love with him (Gu Qing having been a literal rock spirit who cultivated to immortality under the guidance of the Banished God, who followed her into the mortal realm and a cycle of 100 incarnations after Gu Qing accidentally Did A Crime) but then falls in love with HIM.
ALSO Zhang Yinyin is always at risk of succumbing to the temptation of using the demonic fox power that is within her even though that will literally turn her into a demon but maybe it's worth it if a woman who is actually a goddess who is actually a rock is making eyes at the junior you brought into the sect and are in love with and you want to be more powerful than her?
ALSO what's the mysterious power that let Ji Ruochen kill the Banished God in the first place?
IS the woman seeking revenge for the death of the Banished God's mortal incarnation his sister or his cousin or his "cousin"?
WHY is the only love language of immortals stalking?
There's a homunculus and a baby snake demon who is the most precious angel in the world and so many evil dudes delighted in how evil they are and TWO GOOD AND ALIVE PARENTS and a pair of comical monks who have a special attack with a name they have to shout out every time they use it.
Oh and the imprisoned fox demon may have an ex who just hangs out on a rock in something called the Endless Ocean wearing a mask and playing go against the homunculus he made.
And there's an ancient master who lives in an ice mountain and eats memories of love.
Also some people might be secret demons.
There's some weddings.
There's a tiny woman with an ice sword who brutally murders so many dudes.
Do you like CGI birds?
Do you like giant mechanical CGI birds that are for riding purposes?
There's a desert hermit who has a son who is a giant tortoise.
So many things are going on and terrible decisions are constantly being made and it's over a week before I can watch another episode and it's driving me mad. WHAT WILL BE THE FALLOUT OF THE MOST RECENT BAD DECISIONS?

How about that Wei Wuxian wasn’t actually a demonic cultivator.
The 7seas translation conflates ghost and demonic cultivation, as do some donghua fan subs, but I’ve been told from many sources that in the original Chinese Wei Wuxian and people favorable to him call his cultivation Guidao (aka ‘ghost cultivation’) exclusively.
Hello, thanks for the submission! Unfortunately, I'm unprepared to answer this question fully, since I don't speak Chinese. My blog is English-novel-canon only by necessity, although I welcome corrections from people who've read the original text.
However, someone did explain the difference between "mo dao" and "gui dao" to me! You can find those here (1), here (2), and here (3).
This apparent translation error creates an interesting phenomenon in the English-speaking fandom that I want to mention, in which Wei Wuxian is considered a "demonic cultivator" since the translation does not make any distinctions between the two. There is some nuance within the translation, since Wei Wuxian doesn't often refer to his path as "demonic" like many other characters do, but the impression it gives off is more "Demonic Cultivation is the insulting name the sects gave Wei Wuxian's invented path," and not "Demonic Cultivation and Ghost Cultivation are two separate things that the sects are conflating." Meanwhile, a Chinese audience would likely have a vastly different – and probably more true to the "intent" – perspective on Wei Wuxian's powers, morality, etc.

Once upon a time, there lived a magical boy who was lost far, far away from home… Wei Wuxian is perfectly ready to celebrate another mediocre birthday alone when a ten-year-old shows up on his doorstep claiming to be his son. This kid is convinced everyone in his town has been dragged away from their xianxia world and cursed to live as ordinary citizens in a mundane small town, and he's certain that Wei Wuxian is the key to saving them, his other dad, and their entire world. He sounds insane, but, well, Wei Wuxian likes him. Besides, what else can he do but follow him back home? (A Wangxian AU based on the show Once Upon a Time, no prior knowledge of said show necessary)

Once upon a time, there was a boy who believed he loved the world more than it could ever love him.
He would be proven very wrong.
~
Everyone loves the birthday boy.
They especially love him several shots in on Halloween night, wearing an outfit that’s little more than a couple scraps of fabric hastily sewn together in some approximation of a “Sexy Whatever”. Privately, Wei Wuxian calls it Dealer’s Choice, letting whoever he’s currently flirting with decide what it is.
It doesn’t matter; that’s never been the point of the night. Sure a birthday is meant to be spent celebrating, but that’s a bit harder to do when he doesn’t have anyone to celebrate with. It would be fine, as long as he could have as many free drinks as he could score and at least a passably decent fuck, he’d consider it a good night.
Really, when it comes down to it, it’s just another day. Halloween, yes, which makes it a moderately better one. But beyond that bit of fun that comes with picking up a pretty stranger at a bar, there really isn’t much else to look forward to. This is how Wei Wuxian expects to celebrate his birthday:
He’d saunter into how ever many establishments it takes until he finds a pretty enough stranger he can stand being around. The pretty stranger would look him up and down, dragging their eyes over his toned long legs and resting far too long at the slope between his narrow waist and wide hips. And for that one moment, he’d be the most important boy in the world.
He’d get a few free cheap drinks and eventually, they’d find their way to some back alley with its familiar stench of overripe garbage and piss. He’d let himself be pressed up against the brick wall, rough against his back; the perfect distraction from everything else. Then the pretty stranger would stick their tongue far enough down his throat so that he could pretend this day is just like any other.
In between sloppy kisses and sub-par groping attempts, they’d get his name wrong while he’d have already forgotten theirs. They’d mutter a “Happy Halloween, Birthday Boy” like so many one-night stands before them, and he’d giggle and laugh like it’s the very first time. It’s never difficult to plaster a patented smile and play pretend. Then he’d drop to his knees and let the world fall away.
Finally, after however many drinks and strangers it would take to make him forget, he’d stumble back to his basement studio with just enough awareness to take off his shoes before passing out on his secondhand stained mattress. His dreams would be fast and incomprehensible, a mosaic of imaginary maybes and a dream of a life he’d never had.
This is how he’s celebrated the last several years, and it’s how he expects to celebrate this year as well.
Because it’s not just Halloween and it’s not just his birthday. It’s the anniversary of his parents leaving their son behind in a dingy alley, wedged between a dumpster and a pile of soggy cardboard. Not even the barest hint of an afterthought, like maybe we shouldn’t leave this small defenseless child asleep and at the mercy of sewer rats?
But if the liquor is strong enough and the haze is just right he wouldn’t remember that until the next morning. That’s what the night is really for. Not a celebration or anything like that, but a desperate attempt at some peace away from this life of his.
Tonight will be his twenty-fifth birthday, and it might as well not be at all.
And then it will end, and November 1st will come around, and the world will keep turning like it always does.
But somehow, not one of those things goes according to plan. In fact, the universe has a completely different plan for him this year, it seems.

Breathlessly devoted
Warnings: heavy smut (they're fucking fr), inappropriate uses of resentful energy tentacles, oral sex, anal sex, dom/sub dynamics, breath play, kind of monster fucking and a lot of thirst. Like, 4k words worth of thirst.
This is the result of this poll, thank you all for voting!
I drank a whole 2 litre bottle of water writing this and it shows.
Inspired by a conversation I once had with my friends @yuzanrath and @sasukimimochi
I'm going into seclusion now, don't look at me.
Enjoy!!
Lan Wangji reaches behind Wei Wuxian’s head, pulling lightly at the red ribbon holding his hair up. The material gives easily, sliding off the silky strands formlessly as they curtain Wei Wuxian’s back and shoulders. Lan Wangji watches for a moment, his hair settling beautifully, nostalgically, in a style that’s all too familiar.
He’s started to look more and more like himself now, Mo Xuanyu’s features morphing easily into Wei Wuxian’s, a coming of age that’s both fascinating and unsettling to watch. After all, it was not that long ago that Lan Wangji thought he would never again get to see his beloved’s face again. Now, he gets to wake up to it every morning, to kiss it and touch it and…
Wei Wuxian smiles, soft and only a bit teasing, as if reading Lan Wangji’s mind. He huffs in indignation, though he knows he is guilty. Still, he does not meet Wei Wuxian’s eyes, carefully gathering his hair to a side and bringing it forward, over his shoulder.
“You’ve always liked my hair, haven’t you, Lan Zhan?”
The answer comes simply, naturally, “I’ve always liked every part of you.”
Wei Wuxian smiles in that enticing way again, more aroused than amused, a pink tint descending from the tops of his cheeks down whatever he’s allowed visible of his neck. “You’ve grown bold, Hanguang-Jun.”
“You’ve taught me well.”
Wei Wuxian laughs this time, fond and only a bit dark. “Have I? You make it sound like I corrupted you.”
Lan Wangji reaches to undo his forehead ribbon and wraps it carefully around Wei Wuxian’s neck. His breath hitches as he feels the soft material against his skin, not tight enough to cut off his breathing, but still snug against the sides of his throat, pressing ever so slightly on his carotid.
Lan Wangji focuses on tying a bow to the left side of Wei Wuxian’s neck, stubbornly refusing himself the luxury of basking into the meaning of his actions. He cannot be distracted, cannot lose control – not yet. Not now.
Wei Wuxian weaves a hand through his hair and pulls him into a kiss that’s so passionate it feels suffocating. But then again, that’s how it always feels when they kiss, a desperate climb towards absolution, descent into lustful greed.
Still, Lan Wangji has started this off with a purpose in mind, and he would not be a Lan if he was not resilient. So, against all the protests of his hazy mind and his heated senses, he breaks away from Wei Wuxian and delights only a little bit into the fact that he had to put in some degree of force to tear himself away from Wei Wuxian. He’s growing even stronger than Lan Wangji remembers he used to be. The knowledge simmers, hot, inside of him. He’s always liked a bit of pushback, the chase of it, the fact that they both know that, no matter the resistance, he’s strong enough to make Wei Wuxian submit – want to submit.
The displeased whine that escapes him when Lan Wangji breaks away from his lips only seems to fuel that desire. If Lan Wangji had been anything other than disciplined and a master of his impulses, he would have taken the indignated arousal in Wei Wuxian’s gaze as an offense to be righted with even more fiery kisses.
But there is something else he wants to do more than get lost in his husband’s lips and the desperate moans he lets out every time Lan Wangji bites at them. Something they both agreed on, something they both haven’t tried before but have always been curious about.
Something that takes focus and self-control – initially, at least.
Wei Wuxian leans back on the bed, on his elbows, a pout on his kiss-bruised lips. “Don’t you know I could die if I don’t get kissed enough?”
Lan Wangji huffs a laugh and leans down to suck a bruise right below the edge of the forehead ribbon he’s tied around Wei Wuxian’s neck. He moans at the feeling, low and rich, and finds his hands in Lan Wangji’s hair again, as if to encourage him to continue.
Still, Lan Wangji feels like being cruel, and so he does not relent.
“Why are you being so mean to me tonight?” Wei Wuxian whines, “I thought you said I’d enjoy this!”
Lan Wangji carefully opens the lapels of the scandalously see-through, black robes Wei Wuxian wears, admiring the fine embroidery as he distantly replies, “Are you not?”
Wei Wuxian cannot help but watch him do it, his long, slender fingers trailing over the motifs in the lace. “…I didn’t say that, but you keep not giving me anything that I want!”
Lan Wangji trails his fingers over the expanse of Wei Wuxian’s chest, his touch raising goosebumps over the other’s skin. “Be patient.”
Wei Wuxian shivers, throwing his head back as Lan Wangji’s fingers catch onto his nipples. “I don’t want to be patient.”
“What do you want, then?”
“You.”
Lan Wangji pinches the thin layer of skin over his ribs and Wei Wuxian yelps, pitifully. “Not like that!”
“Pretentious.”
A mischievous smile lifts Wei Wuxian’s lips as his eyes, hooded over with desire, watch Lan Wangji undress him. “Don’t you always tell me I deserve good things?”
“Mn. You do.”
“Then why not give them to me?”
Lan Wangji methodically undoes the knot holding Wei Wuxian’s robe together, fingers trailing over the fine silk. “Because I want to give you better than good.”
The robe falls off Wei Wuxian, uncovering the body underneath as it lays around him, like a dark curtain. Lan Wangji finally allows himself a moment of respite, taking in the sight before him for the millionth time, just as reverently as the first.
He lets himself look from the line his forehead ribbon draws around Wei Wuxian’s neck, to the purple marks he’s left down the other’s neck, lower towards where his nipples have pebbled with arousal and the chill of the room, and down to where his muscles have gained enough definition for Lan Wangji to be able to see them ripple beneath skin and subtle veins. He follows the sharpening lines of Wei Wuxian’s V-line, down to where his arousal becomes ever apparent, hard and leaking.
“See anything you like?” Wei Wuxian tries at amusement, though his own breathing has quickened slightly under his husband’s lustful gaze.
“Plenty.”
Wei Wuxian flushes all over and a shiver crawls up his spine, twitching over the length of his cock. Lan Wangji finally pulls him into a kiss, but yet again doesn’t allow either of them to get lost in it.
“I want to do it now.”
Wei Wuxian takes in a deep breath to reel himself in and sits up enough to lean against the headboard. “Are you sure about this, Lan Zhan?”
“Yes.” It should be embarrassing how quickly that came out of him, but he’s long past shame.
“You’ll let me know if it gets too much, yeah?”
“I will.”
Wei Wuxian runs a hand through his hair and tries not to let himself think of how much it turns him on to see Lan Wangji so eager. So eager for something so… taboo, so dark.
So hot.
“Undress for me.”
Lan Wangji follows the order dutifully, under Wei Wuxian’s watchful gaze. There is something about how he’s so adept at following orders, something that has Wei Wuxian tentatively reach to barely brush his fingers over the seam of his lips. “You’re really going to let me corrupt you like this, Hanguang-Jun?”
“Wouldn’t be the worst we’ve done.”
Laughter bubbles out of Wei Wuxian and Lan Wangji feels his arousal melt ever so slightly into the endless, devoted love he has for his husband. Even when they decide to try the most adventurous of things in bed, there’s still that ever burning ember of love behind it, the trust and reassurance that there’s always a soft place to fall.
Lan Wangji kisses him, this time more fond than passionate, and feels Wei Wuxian smile into it, his arms loosely coming to wrap around Lan Wangji’s neck.
“We need to focus.” Lan Wangji says, not very convincingly, as he and Wei Wuxian part for air. He makes a noncommittal sound, and reaches to kiss Lan Wangji again, though he doesn’t reach his destination because his husband moves just enough to be out of reach.
“I’ll remember that.” Wei Wuxian attempts at a threat, though he must admit himself it doesn’t sound too scary. That’s fine, though, he’s not looking to sound scary.
With a sigh, he returns to leaning against the headboard, and Lan Wangji kneels between his legs, expectant. Wei Wuxian closes his eyes and hums a summoning tune.
The night hunt had been surprisingly taxing on them both, laying in bed exhausted after having suppressed the spirits haunting the otherwise peaceful lands around. Though he is used to his husband’s form of cultivation and has understood that it is not at all the way he had thought it to be, he still worried whenever Wei Wuxian overused it. And that night, he had.
“Does it ever hurt you, Wei Ying?”
Wei Wuxian cupped the side of Lan Wangji’s face and left a kiss on the tip of his nose. “I told you before, resentful energy doesn’t actually hurt me, it just… passes through me and I direct it some way.”
“I meant… can you feel it?”
Wei Wuxian hummed, thoughtfully, as the answer formed in his mind. “It is a part of me, in a way. I don’t know if ‘feel’ is the right word, but I’m… connected to it. Why, what brought this on?”
Lan Wangji looked away, at the nightly scenery outside, hoping the dark hid the tips of his ears. “I am curious.”
“And you are also lying.” Wei Wuxian laughed as he poked at his cheeks. “Did you get an idea I should know about?”
“Perhaps.”
Translucent wisps of dark smoke climb the bed like snakes stalking prey, winding through the pristine bedsheets. At first, there is one, hiding beneath the bunched up black robe Wei Wuxian still hasn’t taken off entirely. Another joins it, wrapping itself around Wei Wuxian’s hand like a bracelet, and a third comes to rest around one of his thighs.
Lan Wangji watches them move, blinking in and out of sight as if undecided whether to show themselves or not.
When Wei Wuxian opens his eyes, they shine red, hauntingly so, and Lan Wangji shivers. One of the dark tendrils has found its way to him, slithering up his back, mirroring the curve of his spine, only to curl around his shoulders like a veil.
Lan Wangji hears something indistinct coming from it, from all of them, more and more wisps of resentment crawling all over him and Wei Wuxian, covering them in sheer darkness.
Though unlike him, Wei Wuxian can understand their murmurs, their excitement as they get to explore living, warm flesh and feed off lust not unlike they do off hatred.
“They like you, Lan Zhan.” Wei Wuxian speaks, at last, too taken in by the display before him to talk before. His voice feels distant, as if words are an afterthought.
“There is a way for me to be able to feel what the tendrils do.” Wei Wuxian began, sifting through a pile of talismans to produce one to show his husband, “But I need a way out in case I get too taken in. You know they can be quite ravenous.”
He found the piece of paper at last and handed it over to Lan Wangji. “So I made this. It’s a very powerful repelling talisman, it should disperse all the resentful energy around and out of me. However, I wouldn’t count on me to be able to use it in time, so I’m going to trust you to do it, Lan Zhan.”
“How will I know?”
Wei Wuxian closds his eyes in thought, pinching his chin. “I guess you should use it if I’m starting to look dead.”
“…dead?”
He finally opened his eyes. “You know… Like I used to back then…”
Lan Wangji doesn’t want to think he would have to use Wei Wuxian’s new invention, and he especially doesn’t want to think about the implications of that conversation right now. He’s chastised himself enough for it, and though he may never accept it, he must make peace with it.
He looks at Wei Wuxian carefully, tries to focus through the haze of sensation so he sees anything out of place – but other than a slightly far away look in his eyes, Wei Wuxian appears very much alive and just as aroused.
“Wei Ying?”
“Yeah?”
“How does it feel?”
Wei Wuxian smiles, dark and dangerous and beautiful, “How doesn’t it feel? I get to touch you everywhere, all at once like this… your ideas really are great, Hanguang-Jun…”
The ghost of a smile passes Lan Wangji’s lips. “Can I try?”
“Try what?”
“Touching them.”
Wei Wuxian waves a hand and the tendrils gather around Lan Wangji, expectant. “You can do anything you want with them. With me.”
Lan Wangji stretches his palm and lets one of them climb on it, tentative. The tendril slides up his arm, raising goosebumps in its wake, and wraps itself around Lan Wangji’s neck, settling in a mirror of the forehead ribbon around Wei Wuxian’s neck. He reaches to touch it, and slowly strokes down the length of it.
It feels like velvet, soft but with a shifting firmness beneath, like it’s undecided whether it wants to harden or stay fluid. Wei Wuxian gasps at the feeling, and the sound encourages Lan Wangji to try something new. He pulls at the tendril around his neck and it loosens its hold with little protest – and leaves the softest of kisses onto the head of it. It shivers, violently, and disappears into nothingness.
“Wei Ying?”
“S-Sorry that was… unexpected.”
“Are you hurt?”
“No, you can do it again.”
Lan Wangji takes that as all the confirmation he needs before he allows another tendril to climb on him and kisses it again, and though it shivers as well, it stays put. Lan Wangji feels compelled to caress it, praisefully, and Wei Wuxian moans somewhere between despair and euphoria. It’s a beautiful sound, and Lan Wangji regrets not being able to record it somewhere and keep it for himself forever. At least he has Wei Wuxian with him forever, and he’ll endeavor to bring that sound out of him just as much.
“Lan Zhan, even if I can feel them, doesn’t mean you shouldn’t pay attention to me too…!” Wei Wuxian whines as he feels the tip of Lan Wangji’s tongue slowly swirl over one of the resentful wisps. “I’m starting to think you like them more than me…”
Lan Wangji lets go of the object of his current affections, and the tendril quickly wraps itself around his arm, caressing him as if to beg him not to stop. Much like their master, these creatures are demanding and whiny, and do not like being denied what they want.
The two nearly crash into each other as they kiss, hungry and wanting, their bodies molding against one another until there are no more spaces left between them. The friction is tantalizing, although it falls short of being satisfying – and that only seems to make them more ravenous, grinding against each other in a desperate rhythm.
“Lan Zhan – I – can you –“
“No. Not yet.”
Wei Wuxian whines, almost tearful, and the resentful energy responds to the sound by wrapping around his hands in comfort. Lan Wangji finds it in himself to lift his body enough not to be tempted to give in to what both he and Wei Wuxian want, and, though his arms tremble ever so slightly, he leans to trail hot, wet kisses down his husband’s body, resentment trailing his own in exchange.
Wei Wuxian feels somewhere both in his body and outside of it, his senses splitting between himself and the resentful energy he’s conjured. There is something like static buzzing underneath his skin, tying itself to his nerve endings, merging with him – and then there’s Lan Wangji, touching and kissing him and this specter of himself that he’s created.
Every sensation is filtered through something dark, heightened to the point of overstimulation yet never enough to satisfy, and Wei Wuxian wonders if he’s going to get lost in this place and become one with this immense, inhuman pleasure.
When he feels Lan Zhan’s mouth envelop his cock into a tight, wet heat, he’s pulled out of his half coherent musings with a scream, arching off the bed as his fingers grip at the bedsheets. He finds it in himself to open his eyes and see – oh, does he like to see, to watch Lan Zhan do whatever he wants with him, it’s almost voyeuristic – and he doesn’t even try to stop himself from moaning out something incoherent as he runs a hand through Lan Zhan’s hair.
He hums around Wei Wuxian’s cock, having taken about half of it in, as he expertly strokes one of the resentful tendrils – and suddenly Wei Wuxian understands why he feels like there’s electric current rushing beneath his skin.
He wishes he could open his mouth and say something about how good this feels, how dirty it is, how he’s going to engrave this image in his mind for the rest of his life – but he can do nothing but moan, the sounds punched out of him like they’re in a rush to get out.
He wills some of the tendrils towards Lan Wangji with a vague intention and hopes they’re part of him now enough to understand – and when he feels Lan Wangji moan around his cock, Wei Wuxian realizes they got it, and so he struggles to keep both himself and the ghosts of him in check at the knowledge that he’s giving his husband pleasure in the same way he’s killed so many others.
When he feels Lan Wangji let go of his cock, Wei Wuxian doesn’t even try to stop the pitiful sound that escapes him. “No, no, Lan Zhan, please, I can’t – I need –“
The rest of the sentence dies on his tongue the moment he sees – and feels, oh he feels it so much – his husband take that tendril of resentful energy down his throat like he did his cock. Wei Wuxian can’t even find it in himself to scream anymore, his eyes rolling back and his mouth open around a silent moan.
Lan Wangji enjoys the sight of his husband like this a lot more than he ever thought he would, and he wonders if they’re being influenced by resentment somehow or they’re both just that incredibly horny that doing this feels like the zenith of sexual experiences.
Then he feels one of the tendrils stroke around his cock with renewed vigor and cannot wonder anymore, his thoughts lost in gargled moans around the tendril in his mouth.
He feels it move in a languid, shallow rhythm, and looks up at his husband, curiously. But Wei Wuxian looks, for lack of a better description, entirely fucked out, and so he’s probably only half aware of what he’s doing. The thought that it’s the resentful energy doing this to him independently, to some degree, shouldn’t make Lan Wangji throb, and yet it does. He should worry about this, maybe – but not now, when his mind is addled with pleasure and desires he isn’t sure are his own.
He tries to let go of the tendril in his mouth but he can’t, something forbidding him from moving away. In fact, it almost feels like it’s pushing him further down, slowly enough not to trigger his gag reflex but firmly enough so he doesn’t get away. Tears form in the corners of his eyes as he struggles to accommodate the intrusion, and when he lifts his pupils to look at Wei Wuxian, he finds him – the resentment and him, all at once – looking back.
“You really are talented at everything… If it wasn’t all for me, I’d feel outshined.”
Lan Wangji moans at the praise, and Wei Wuxian finds it in himself to be merciful as he watches his husband struggle to breathe, so he waves a hand and the resentment lets up. Lan Wangji lets go, and coughs away the feeling of having been choked, breathing in greedy gulps of air.
“If you do that to me again, I’ll really lose my mind, Lan Zhan.”
Lan Wangji doesn’t seem deterred by the prospect, and makes it a point to grip at Wei Wuxian’s erection and stroke it a few times as if challenging. He laughs, and uses the momentum to change positions and take his place on top of his husband.
“What would you know, that training did pay off!” Wei Wuxian smiles, leaving a very brief kiss over Lan Wangji’s lips. “Now… You’ve teased me enough for one night. Be good and stay still”
Lan Wangji doesn’t respond because he knows he won’t be able to. Not when he feels Wei Wuxian take him all at once, without any resistance, wet and hot and entirely unprepared.
“W-Wei Ying, how…”
“I don’t know,” he gasps out as if surprised himself, “must be all this yin energy… does it matter?”
Lan Wangji feels like he’s reliving some of his mortifying teenage years as he sees Wei Ying fuck himself on top of him, hair wild as he moves and his eyes shining like rubies. It does feel like a wet dream, how gone Wei Ying seems to be, lost in his own selfish pleasure, with Lan Wangji’s ribbon around his neck, erotic and dangerous and his.
The way his name sounds from Wei Wuxian’s kiss-bruised lips, the way the resentful energy around responds to it just as desperately as Lan Wangji does – it’s intoxicating to the point of euphoria.
Lan Wangji finds it in himself to grab at Wei Wuxian’s thighs and find himself some leverage to meet his thrusts, and then takes advantage of the surprised yelp Wei Wuxian lets out to flip their position and sate his own desires at last. Of course, he won’t let Wei Wuxian have his fun without him and he’s done being made an accessory to his pleasure, as exhilarating as that may have been.
He maneuvers both of them so he takes Wei Wuxian from behind and twists a hand in his hair so he can bring Wei Wuxian close enough to kiss him, his spine bowing under the pressure.
Wei Wuxian breaks their kiss first, half to breathe, half to beg “Lan Zhan… will you touch me, please? I’m so close and I can’t…”
“No. You either come like this or not at all.”
Wei Wuxian keens, desperate and displeased all at once. “You’re so mean, I should’ve let you choke on-“
He feels Lan Wangji’s hand around his neck before he can continue, hot and powerful, squeezing. “Quiet.”
He couldn’t make a sound now even if he wanted to, his body seizing with pleasure as his hands take purchase over the bed’s headboard, holding onto it tight enough for his knuckles to turn white. The orgasm rings in his ears and pulsates all over his body like a second heartbeat and even as Lan Wangji lets go of his neck, the world still feels pleasantly fuzzy at the edges.
He feels his body shake with the aftershocks of pleasure, and the swirl of emotion and sensation settles inside of him at last as resentful energy separates from him willingly.
Wei Wuxian distantly registers Lan Wangji coming as well, and the feeling of it sends sharp pain-pleasure through Wei Wuxian like electricity. He feels it dripping out of him as his husband pulls out, and allows his body to flop onto the bed, exhausted but sated in a way he could have never expected.
He finds himself in Lan Wangji’s arms soon after, but knows their usual pillowtalk is going to be happening later – he doesn’t have it in himself to talk, drained of energy and still reeling from everything. Still, no words are needed when he feels Lan Wangji kiss his forehead and envelop them both in blankets.
The I love you’s go unsaid, but they’re felt anyway.
---
“There has been an influx of resentful energy in the Cloud Recesses yesterday. Have you felt it?”
“I have! It was so powerful, I couldn’t sleep a wink! I wonder what that was…”
