The Untamed Drabble: My Brother's Bride (When Lan Xichen finally knows what he's always known)

It's a beautiful moonlit night. I stand on the little wooden bridge, tilting my face up toward the sky. It feels as if someone has scattered silver glitter over the world, the light shimmering on the water below. I take a deep, calming breath. My thoughts flit through my mind restlessly, like baby rabbits hopping on tiny feet.

Soft footsteps approach from behind. I don’t need to turn to know who it is. Even without looking, I recognize Lan Xichen’s presence. Still, I turn and bow in greeting. He smiles, serene and knowing.

LX: Wangji, you're awake this late to admire the moon?”

Me: Mn.

He studies me for a moment, then speaks gently.

LX: Something on your mind, young one? Would I be wrong to presume you’re thinking about your impending wedding to Lord Zhou’s daughter?

I exhale sharply, gripping the hilt of my sword. “Brother, please.”

Me (quietly): Can we not talk about that? I was thinking about our young disciples and their training.

His expression doesn’t shift, but his next words cut through me.

LX: Is it Childe Wei you’re concerned about?

My hand tightens involuntarily.

Me: Not exactly. He’s healing well, there’s nothing to worry about.

LX: The medic mentioned his scars might have been—

I turn sharply to face him.

Me (panicked): W-what did the medic say? Are they infected? Is he going to be okay?”

Lan Xichen regards me with a piercing gaze, though there is no heat in it. Finally, he sighs and nods.

LX: They’re healing well. Don’t worry, Wangji. But if you don’t mind, may I ask you something?

A quiet sense of dread coils in my stomach, though I keep my expression neutral.

Me: Mn.

His voice is soft but unrelenting.

LX: Have you told Childe Wei how you truly feel?

I freeze. My pulse pounds in my throat.

Me: …Feel about him?

LX: Wangji, I've watched you suffer in silence for sixteen years. If you can't close the door to the past, how can the future ever prosper?

A bitter smile tugs at my lips.

Me: What if I don’t want to close that door?

LX: Dwelling on it may only bring pain. Are there even places left for more scars—on your body, or your soul?

I inhale slowly, letting his words settle. Despite the ache in my chest, I find myself smiling faintly.

Me: My body may carry scars forever, but my soul is clear. Just like his.

Lan Xichen watches me with those knowing, patient eyes.

LX: I do not wish to tease you with a possibility that doesn’t exist. That would be cruel.

I swallow hard and avert my gaze.

Me: Brother… We're already bonded for life.

His brows knit together.

LX: Wangji… does that mean—?

I nod, unable to meet his gaze.

Lan Xichen exhales slowly.

LX: Shall I take this as a marriage, then? A marriage without vows?

I close my eyes.

Me: The Grandmaster will not be pleased.

LX: No, he won’t.

A pause. Then, softer, “How did it happen?”

I hesitate.

Me: I… got drunk one night.

His lips twitch.

LX: And became your usual charming self?

I grit my teeth.

Me: I proposed to Wei Ying as per our ancient tradition...

Lan Xichen lifts his eyebrow.

LX: Which one? Our clan has thousands of them.

Me: …By offering him two fat roosters.

A long silence. Then, unexpectedly, he chuckles. “And?”

I shift uncomfortably.

Me: He agreed they were indeed...fat.

His laughter is quiet but genuine.

LX: Wangjiya, much as I respect our traditions… are you certain your message to Childe Wei was clear enough?

I feel the heat rise to my face.

Me: It wasn’t just the roosters. We… we…

The words catch in my throat, refusing to form.

Lan Xichen eyes me with a fond expression.

LX: You mean there were… clearer indications of your feelings for each other?

I close my eyes. That night flashes vividly before me.

Wei Ying's soft gasp of realization, and the way our lips met in a tender, searching kiss. Our breaths mingling, tongues sliding together in a slow dance. Hearts pounding in unison as our bodies pressed together. A single tear tracing down his cheek before I caught it with my lips. My fingers tangled in his long hair, his nails raking down my back, pulling me closer—deeper. Each movement, each sensation was a surrender to something far greater than desire. And finally, a pleasure beyond my wildest dreams.

A hand touches my shoulder, waking me from my reverie. I try to school my expression, to calm my thoughts, but the heat creeping up my face must have given me away.

Lan Xichen’s voice is quiet but certain.

LX: I think I already have my answer.

A heavy silence follows as he considers something, his expression shifting to one of steely determination.

“I’ll talk to Uncle,” he declares. “He should be made aware of this new development.”

My heart gives a funny jolt. The panic must have shown on my face because Lan Xichen’s grip on my shoulder tightens reassuringly.

LX: What I mean is… he should know our Wangji has already found his soulmate, and inform the honorable Zhou clan accordingly.

I can’t contain the smile tugging at my lips this time.

Lan Xichen’s expression softens, but his words remain firm.

LX: The wedding is still very much on the cards, but this time, it will be a reunion of soulmates—never to be parted again.

This drabble is for the long suffering and ever loving Lan Xichen. Brother, you're the captain of our WangXian ship 🙏

I don't want people to agree with this belief, but nobody dares erase this. Let it exist as every other opinion in the fandom, because the toxicity stems from a deeper feeling that somehow, this is the truth.

The YiZhan Conundrum: To Ship or Not to Ship (Verdict out)

I've made my decision even before the poll ended. I felt kinda 🥴 to base my decision on a poll and not listening to what my heart says.

And this is what my heart says...

If I can't be a YiZhan truther, I can be a YiZhan believer.

I believe there is love between them. It's all in the eyes, chico.

And I also firmly believe that they are not obligated to act in a certain way to reaffirm my belief.

We got incredibly lucky with the main leads of TU, and irrespective of their relationship status, I want them to find happiness.

The smile they've brought to our faces should be on their faces too.

As Rumi said "what you seek is seeking you", may both of them find what they're seeking.

I'm grateful for the lifelong supply of on and offscreen memories they've gifted us.

Zhan-Yibo, you two deserve the world! Love and light to both of you.

The YiZhan Conundrum: To ship or not to ship (please vote and help me decide)

I already made a post about it, but couldn't solve this dilemma, so maybe I'll make a poll about it.

I can get hyperfixated to stuff 😋 and I can also sense some "symptoms" when it starts. Lately I stay away from shipping real people to protect my peace and to avoid toxicity, but ever since I started watching The Untamed I can feel this tingle whenever the two main characters are on screen...

It feels as if they're not acting, but becoming.

I googled a bit and found out this "incident" that caused their "separation." But there are also tons of vids that clearly shows a spark between the two.

The two actors were perfectly cast for their respective roles ❤

I feel like I want to support their pairing, but very hesitant as well, because fandom trauma is real and can hit very hard.

During this Valentine month, I found a show that came out of nowhere and gave the word "love" a new meaning.

The drama is so gripping and intense it made me cry, laugh, and bite my nails.

Wait till episode 3 to let the story unfold, and after that there's no going back, it's so addictive! They not only focus on relationships and drama, they prioritize the plot and the adventures too.

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

I just finished watching the episode where Wuxian and Lan Zhan get separated, and I can't express what was going through my mind.

Lan Zhan's silent tears made me cry!

I literally had tears rolling down my eyes. I told my stupid self to not get emotionally too attached (again) but it was a failed effort from the beginning.

The pain of separation that played out in their eyes only was enough to shatter my heart.

And for some weird reason, I can't bring myself to like Lady Wen. Something about her just makes my expression sour. She's not evil or anything but I feel this weird vibe whenever she's looking at Wuxian.

Just go away, Lady in red.

I have cautiously enjoyed only two RPFs over the years - Ney Messi and Max Daniel.

In both cases, there are enough material to keep loving them together.

Can any guide me to a timeline about YiZhan from The Untamed? Are they still in touch with each other?

I googled and was shocked to see "the incident!"

But I'm always careful not to ship real people (except those two above) because apart from the obvious issue about morality, it causes a lot of pain and heartbreak to the shipper and fellow fans as well.

I don't want to be delusional. I don't want any toxicity. But their chemistry is something I can't get out of my mind.

Please help, The Untamed / MDZS fans.

Dear God what have I gotten into?

I happened to catch some reels of a Chinese drama, and then out of curiosity checked Netflix...

Watched the first episode, didn't grasp much of what's going onscreen, decided to try a few more episodes before DNFing

And I kept watching...

I couldn't stop... It kept me glued and even before I know it, I'm on Episode 23.

The Untamed is a transformative experience!

And how on earth did I miss it before?
