The excited way he watched Orion walk him through had him smile. Kids said the dardnest things and it showed when they were on a topic they felt passionate about. ❛That sounds like a cool trick. She handed Gael over and made sure he was still asleep. The boy's bangs covered his eyes and saw his chest rise and fall. He didn't make a noise so he wouldn't notice the change of arms. Walking through slowly, Wally looked up briefly when his name got called and waved at the museum employees who had greeted him in passing. One in particular came over to the small boy and made a big deal about talking to him. Giving Orion a small little key, he was told he had to find the corresponding door this key belonged to. If he found it, he'd be able to open that specific door to the treasure room. Just a little playroom for kids who got their choices of books and video games. It happened every four hours around the museum so Wally was around accustomed to this. His two littles stayed quiet not wanting to ruin the surprise. That wing was built when they were born ish and had them in mind when it was conceptualized. ❛ You're the chosen one. How does it feel? What door do you think that key opens? ❜

The boy smiled and nodded at his new friend. Movie nights sounded like a great idea, especially with a friend. He hoped that he would be able to come visit his godmother more often so he'd be able to see his new friends again.

❝ Yeah! ❞ Orion lit up as he began to ramble on. It was what he was best at right now, opening up when someone asked him about something he loved and the man had hit the thing he loved most at the moment. ❝ Ellie is teaching me a bat flip that she says will make me cool when I start to play and we have two! ❞ He meant his family, his dad, his new mom, and Elizabeth, whenever he said the word we. ❝ When we're home it's the Yankee's. But when we're in California it's the Giants. Dad said they used to be in New York a long time ago. Ellie says it's her dad's favorite team. So we have two favorite teams! When we went last month there was a huge slide in it and I ate so many crackerjacks my stomach hurt! I don't like them anymore. ❞ He frowned. ❝ But then the next day we also saw BBBIIGGGG trees that touched the sky. Dad said we had to be really quiet because Ellie was trying to be with her dad, but he must be good at hide and seek because I couldn't find him. So I have to get better at it for next time so I can see him too! ❞ One thing about keeping a child in the dark about what moments and places really meant to someone was that their imaginations would run wild with what was happening.

�� Oh no, not at all. ❞ Elizabeth smiled at the girl, she was a lot like her uncle. ❝ You already think in a very interesting way. You thought about that situation in a very unique way that others might have never thought about. And sci-fi is not for everyone, I get it too, some novels are just so long and confusing to me. But there is a genre within sci-fi called speculative fiction. It's based on things that can be real like physics and space travel and just embellishes a bit while being grounded in real things. You might like it. ❞ Reaching into her back jean pocket she had a small notepad and pen that she always had in case she had to write something down, she took a quick moment to write the word down and handed it over to Anna. The idea sounded like something good she would try with Orion. ❝ My lips are sealed but I would like to know what you think of it next time I see you. And yes they are terrible people. ❞ The more she spoke to Anna the more she found her interesting and enjoying the conversation. For a moment she was taken aback that she knew a Dean Koontz novel, thinking maybe she had meant another novel. But then Anna mentioned the monkeys and she knew she was not thinking of a different novel. Anna was definitely interesting. ❝ I have, once long ago. ❞

As they all grouped together and came up with a plan, she smiled at Orion before agreeing with the plan for lunch afterward, ignoring the smirk the man was throwing her way. Something about it made her feel like he knew something she didn't. Then held her arms out toward Anna. ❝ I'll take him Anna, that way you can grab some books. I promise to keep him safe. ❞ Looking back at Wally, she nodded. ❝ I'm glad you are leaving me in such capable hands. I leave you with my favorite person ever, so you better return him in one piece. ❞ Orion let out a chuckle at Elizabeth's words and began to head off with his new friends. ❝ Lead the way, navigator. ❞

Dick Grayson loves his siblings, but he's never quite sure to what degree that love is returned.

It would be fair for them not to love him. He has messed up more than his fair share over the years, spectacularly shattering trust, destroying bridges, and failing to make amends. He sees his mistakes reflected in their eyes every time they back away from a hug.

It kills him a little, feeling them pull away from him.

Each of his siblings has had a point where he was their favorite. They would gravitate to him at family gatherings, linger with him during team-ups, and turn his apartment into a pillow fort. He should've held on tighter during those times, should've never let them slip away.

He spends weeks planning their Christmas presents. They have to be perfect- it took guilt and outright bribery to ensure everyone would be at the Manor. It stung when Stephanie and Tim ignored his calls, almost as much as Jason slamming the door in his face. They all came around eventually, and Dick had to show them all how much he cared.

He started with Damian, simply because the boy never left his mind these days. It had been hard to walk away when Bruce came back, even harder not to run back and snatch up the kid every day since. Dick found the newspaper from the first night they went out as a duo, complete with a glossy picture of them on a rooftop. It was carefully framed and placed on top of a small stack of sketchbooks and watercolors. Dick tried to forget all of the art shows he had missed recently.

Duke received a new pack of trading cards and every article that spoke positively of the "We Are Robin" movement. In a moment of extreme sentimentality, he wrote a letter explaining what Robin meant to his family and just how proud he was of Duke for turning a family name into a wave of change for the city. Dick tried to forget how angry he had once been to see the child army running the streets.

Stephanie was easy enough, he interfered as Detective Grayson and got rid of her parking tickets. Well, that, and he interviewed people that had come forward after being saved by Spoiler, and recorded all of them explaining how they would never forget their hero. He compiled all of the recordings onto a modified comm, so if she ever felt doubt on patrol, she could be reminded of all the good she has done. Dick tried to forget how he had joined Bruce in trying to run her off when she briefly took up the Robin mantle.

Cass received new pointe shoes, complete with shiny pink ribbon, and a stack of cards Dick had collected from the Gotham Center for Deaf Children. Before Orphan and Black Bat, there had never really been a signing hero in Gotham. She gave them someone to admire, and Dick thought she should know. He placed the delicate shoes on top of the cards, and tried to forget how many of her performances he had skipped.

Tim... Dick could never apologize in any way that would matter to him. He stared at a row of cameras in a store and wondered when was the last time he had actually seen Tim take a picture. It had been his passion for so long... Had the boy outgrown it or had their lifestyle forced him to abandon it? Dick was determined that either way, his brother deserved joy, so he picked one Wally recommended and carefully stenciled the Red Robin logo onto the lens cover. Dick tried to forget how Tim couldn't stand to be in a room alone with him anymore.

Jason. His Little Wing made him want to weep. He went through hours of footage from his old camera, videos of the first time they went train surfing together, when he taught Jason to fly, when Jason taught him to skateboard- all from years ago. He sat in his apartment for hours, hating himself for realizing he doesn't truly know his brother anymore. He ends up breaking into Jason's place. The day after that, he has a large box filled with leather bound versions of all the paperbacks Jason had lying around. He attempted to read some of them, but landed on making little bookmarks for his brother, each with some little inside joke on it. Dick did all of that and tried to forget that his brother didn't think they were family anymore.

December 23rd, he loads all of the gifts into his shitty truck and wonders if any of them will get him anything.

It would be fair if they didn't, though.

My favorite and funnier part of the update is the confirmation that Wally is canonically incredibly short. Like, literally the height of a child in all his animated appearances. That is so funny in comparison to how the fandom portray him.

Ace had and continues to have issues with Wally being the golden child. He's upset that Barry was more involved in Wally's childhood and that Barry continues to focus a lot more on his relationship with Wally than his relationship with Ace.

I think something that also gets me is outside, irey, the west side of the speedster bloodline families are chosen to become speedsters whether it’s Barry’s spirit, fate, the speedforce itself, they have a element of being chosen for the job while the Allen side of the family, outside Barry, are born with these powers, they are just given their connection and their strength, there is no sense that they had to earn or learn anything. Obviously, this is a massive oversimplification. But I think when it comes down to the differences, I think that’s also often why a lot of the Allen vs West descendants come into conflict on a theme level. Like, the question of is it better to be born with great power or given it later on. What makes someone better? The answer is neither but it something hat floats in their heads. Like for instance, Wally isn’t Barry’s son but he was chosen by him while the twins must have felt proud to be Barry’s kids but didn’t feel especially wanted.

(Side note: this is also sorta why I kind of hate yjtv’s flashfam so much sometimes bc esp season 2, they play up that obviously Bart is better bc he’s BLOOD RELATED to Barry. And it’s just weird and so….oddly light years away from the core of what makes the flash fam great, but whatever)

Barry, Daniel, Wally and Ace were all given their speedforce connections through accidents/fate. Don, Dawn, Irey, Jai, Bart, Jenni and John all inherited their speedforce connections from their parents, albeit with different rates of inheritance. Don and Dawn's powers were present at birth with no abnormalities or malfunctions. Bart, Irey and Jai manifested malfunctioning powers at birth. Jenni manifested powers at puberty with no abnormalities or malfunctions. John manifested powers as an adult after extreme stress and danger. It was assumed that his lab accident gave him powers but it was later revealed that they just triggered his latent powers to activate.

And that's not even looking at the long line of superpowered Allen descendants shown in Chain Lightning.

There are a lot of Allen descendants that inherited speedforce connections but there are also a lot of West descendants that inherited speedforce connections. We just have a skewed perspective of it because we've seen more of Barry's family tree (his grandkids and all the Allen descendants in Chain Lightning). But John's existence several centuries in the future shows that the West genes have just as much sticking power.

That's not to say that I think you are wrong, it's just that I think it's more of a localized issue. Specifically, this is a Wally & Ace vs Don, Dawn and Bart issue. And the issue is all about Barry at its core.

Subconsciously or not, Barry gave Wally and Ace their powers. In doing so he made them metaphorically his children, his 'Kids' if you will. If you look at the emphasis on speedforce connections and inheritance through bloodlines, Barry giving them those powers was a symbolic adoption of sorts. It didn't stop at metaphors and symbols either. Barry raised those two as his sons. They were his kids.

Wally struggled a lot with Bart being "actually" related to Barry. When Bart first showed up Wally was being very hard on himself and he felt like a failure. A large reason why he hadn't stopped being the Flash was his sense of duty to Barry and the legacy. He was the closest thing Barry had to a child. He was Barry's legacy and, even if he thought he sucked at it, he had a duty to carry on for Barry. Bart threw that entire line of thought into question and caused him to spiral. The fact that Bart could do things he couldn't? It was just fuel on the fire. In Wally's mind he was just a pretender to the throne and Bart was the rightful heir. It isn't a coincidence that Wally only thought about Bart in terms of Barry at first and wanted to be his guardian. Keeping Bart safe, training him and giving him the mantle was the only way Wally thought he could make it right. (It's a really good thing Iris didn't let that happen and Bart wanted nothing to do with the legacy aspect, cause that would've been a disaster)

The powers definitely played a part in it but it wasn't because Bart was born with powers. It was because Bart was born with Barry's powers. I mean, Wally had issues with Bart being able to vibrate through walls (a thing Barry could do but Wally couldn't) but Wally had no issues with Bart's ability to create scouts (a thing neither Barry nor Wally could do). It had nothing to do with Bart being 'more adept or skilled'. It was all about Bart being more like Barry than Wally was.

It was the same when Wally met Jenni. The only reason Jenni escaped Wally's jealousy and misplaced self loathing was because she provided him with two bigger threats. The Tornado Twins.

(what's interesting is that this word choice 'favorite son' legitimized Wally's relationship with Barry in his head. Here were Barry's "actual blood" children confirming that Wally was Barry's son. This is what caused Wally to realize that his issues with the twins were unfounded and silly)

The twins hated Wally. He was the prodigal son. The golden child. Barry loved Wally, Iris loved Wally and the twins grew up in the shadow of an older brother they could never live up to. To the twins, Wally was the son Barry chose. They were the kids Barry never asked for.

So, TLDR: I don't think the question is "Is it better to be born with great power or develop great power later on" but rather "is it better to be born Barry's kid or develop that relationship later on".

Danny learned from the Ghost Writer that other worlds exist, even his favorite world. The Justice League!

However, Ghost Writer has always been hesitant to use his portals to explore other realms. This is due to the immense power and danger lurking on the other side.

Danny's curiosity gets the better of him, and he can't resist using Ghost Writer's portals to go into the DC universe.

Danny was here to have fun, so he decides to dress up as various DC villains, but with his young age, it has an adorable twist: he appears as a tiny child version of them.

To his surprise, Danny realizes that these costumes give him access to the powers of the villains. He seemed to mimic them, like he did in a few of his fights against his enemies attacks.

Like Ghostly wails with Dan or Cloning with Vlad.

And just seeing this would be much more fun! He started his playful journey to meet iconic heroes and villains.

The first one Danny met was the Flash family while dressed as Reverse Flash. He stumbles upon a face-off between Flash, Kid Flash, and the real Reverse Flash. With his childlike innocence, Danny manages to confuse all three speedsters, much to Kid Flash's chagrin. Danny began to tease Kid Flash about a prank he played on him. "It was me, Wally; I shoved the coffee table ever so slightly so that you would stub your toe right before you were sent off to school." "It was me who made your mother and father see your adult magazine!" Thawne laughed as he heard what the boy did. Leaving after Eobard was defeated, leaving very confused Speedsters behind.

Next, Danny decides to become Ares, the God of War. This leads to a comical confrontation with Wonder Woman. Ares is perplexed by how this young boy possesses his godly powers, and Diana is equally confused by the mysterious demigod child.

The one he had most fun was the Ra's al Ghul cosplay, complete with a sword. Danny found himself entangled in a battle between the League of Assassins and Green Arrow with his sidekick Speedy. Ra's was puzzled by this unexpected child version of himself, and Green Arrow can't help but be amused and confused by the whole situation. After the battle, Danny poured the ectoplasm from his bottle on the ground and jumped into it. Which made it look like Green Arrow and Ra's that Danny just jumped into Lazarus water and was swallowed by it.

Sinestro and Hal Jordan were bewildered by the appearance of a child wearing a Yellow Lantern ring. The notion of such a young Yellow Lantern throws them off balance during their battle. Sinestro and Hal Jordan are utterly baffled as to why a child could even wield the power of fear.

Dressed up as the Ocean Master, Danny intervenes in a conflict between Aquaman and Aqualad against the vengeful Ocean Master. Initially mistaking him for Orm's son, Arthur planned to talk with the boy, only for him to leave after the fight.

When Danny dons the Lex Luthor Warsuit, he finds himself in a confrontation with Superman, catching the attention of Lex Luthor. Lex is intrigued by the young boy's capabilities and is somehow proud of him, even though they aren't fighting on the same side. If Lex sees potential in him and contemplates offering some guidance, the boy would go far. The Suit was like his own.

At Last, The Mr. Freeze Costume, Danny intervenes in a showdown between Batman, Robin, and Mr. Freeze in Gotham City. The Caped Crusader is intrigued by this young "villain" and contemplates whether the boy can be taught to use his abilities responsibly. As Danny was just talking about Dr. Victor Fries inventions and theories, Victor saw that the boy had good ideas and theories.

Danny had his fun, and he tried to return home, only for the portal not to work.

He used it many times and had to wait a short time. Well, what are a few days here?

Human Illustrator Wally x Reader

🐻You work at a daycare as a child care worker. The daycare you work at, which is called Apple Castle Learning Center, has a reputation for taking in children with disabilities and being very accessible to them. Due to it being very difficult for a lot of parents to find daycares that have room for disabled children, the majority of the kids that go to Apple Castle Learning Center have some form of disability. Despite the amount of people who use the daycare, however, there is still a pretty low budget. As a recreational assistant at the daycare, you have to find a good way to entertain all of these lovely children in a way that is accessible to as many of them as possible.

🐻 The best thing you have found, so far, is storytime! You have all the kids gather in a circle as you read to them. To make sure that no child is left out, you make sure to show everyone a close up view of the pages so the hard of hearing children can see the pictures and pass around some toy so that the children with visibility issues can have a reference as to the visuals. Is there a cute bear on the page? Hand them a teddy bear! Is there a caterpillar that runs a store? Pass around a caterpillar toy! It may not be much, but it is the best thing you can do for such a wide array of children and such a low budget. You also make sure to give verbal descriptions of the visuals, both to keep the visually impaired children included and to teach the children new words.

🐻 The majority of the children's most favorite books seem to be one's illustrated by some man named Wally Darling. You aren't that well in the loop on who is famous in the illustration industry, but your boss, Mr. Abbott, keeps telling you that he is pretty famous. Apparently, a lot of children love his illustrations, and he has a pretty wide array of styles. Some of his books look like the pictures were drawn by children, themselves, with cute smiley faces and puppy dogs. Others will have very detailed pictures of animals. He tends to illustrate for books aimed at children in preschool all through elementary.

🐻 So when you learn that Mr. Darling is going to be visiting a library in town, you just have to go. He's, apparently, going to be signing books and everything! You feel like, since the kids love his books so much, getting one of the books signed will make them very happy. Some of the children have been expressing, recently, that they can tell that they are different than other kids and it makes them feel bad. Especially the ones who go to school. It might help them feel a bit better if the kids know that he cares for them! After all, he seems like a very loving guy, from what Mr. Abbott has said... Though, you haven't met the guy yourself, so you just have to hope.

🐻 Once the day arrives, you make sure to try to get there early. Thankfully, Mr. Abbott understood what you were trying to do and let you take the day off to get there quickly. Even though you arrived about an hour early, it is still very crowded with parents and their children who are waiting to see him arrive.

🐻 A few people recognize you and your uniform, just a little pin with the daycare logo and a small apron where you hold crayons, and talk to you until he arrives. To your shock, when you see his car pull in, it's not that fancy looking. It looks like any old car on the street. If it weren't for children screaming in excitement at his arrival, you wouldn't have noticed.

🐻 Then comes the stampede of little kids sprinting to see him, followed by their parents running to grab them, shouting "Timmy, calm down!" "Don't rush!" "Say you're sorry, you know it is wrong to push people!" You are frozen still from surprise. You never would've expected little kids to be this excited about some random guy who draws pictures. Well, not some RANDOM guy... it's just kinda like... they have never seen him, before? Just his pictures. Most of the books the daycare owns don't even have a picture of him in the back of the book.

🐻 You see him come out of the car, a small child that had managed to avoid the hands of his parents hanging from his arm like it is a branch. You would expect him to be upset that some random kid just grabbed him, but no. He has a large grin on his face, as if it was the best thing that could've happened today. He then holds the child, handing him to his parents as he says "I am so happy you all came early! Please, settle down, though! This is a library, after all!" He then chuckles, watching as all the children turn to each other, placing their fingers on their lips as they let out loud "SHHHHHHHHH"'s.

🐻 It takes a while for him to get everything set up, but it is amazing to watch. You feel very weird just watching him from time to time, burying your face in a book to try to hide it. He's just so... weird? Like, not "weird" as in bad, but "weird" as in enjoyably eccentric. You can't take your eyes off of him. If he were on a children's show as a host, you could see it making millions. He also isn't that bad looking, either. He's kinda cute-

🐻"Do you need something?" Your face lights up when he says that, realizing that he has noticed you. You point to yourself, just to be sure. He grins, pointing at you as he says "Of course, you. I noticed you staring quite a while ago. I don't mind, I know I sound strange."

🐻 You panic, standing up and walking over to him as you clarify "No! No, it isn't that! I work with a lot of kids who have a flat affect in their voice. I don't find it weird at all! I just umm... I thought you might need help! You seem to be setting a lot up!"

🐻 His eyes widen, before he smiles "Oh, you didn't mean- Wait, really? You work with kids that sound like me? Where do you work?" You point to your pin "I work at the Apple Castle Learning Center. It's a daycare, with a lot of the kids there having varying levels of disability. From physical disabilities, like a missing limb, blindness, or deafness, to more neurological ones like autism, down syndrome or ADHD. I actually came here to get a book signed for the daycare. I thought that-"

🐻 His face lights up, looking at the book in your hands. He quickly snatches it, causing you to let out a slight gasp from shock. He looks around, almost like he is trying to hide something, before quickly signing it. He then takes out a small slip of paper, writing something on it and slipping it into the book. He hands it back to you, whispering "Here. You get to have a signature early. I always like to show support for places willing to care for kids, no matter the differences they have. I know that if I made you wait for the line, you would be lost and waiting for hours. Now, go on! Show those kids the book! I want you to see how happy you made them from going out of your way to get a signature from me!"

🐻 You can practically feel yourself tearing up from joy! You shake his hand, saying "Thank you so much! You are so kind! I'll be sure to let them know what you said, too!" You then sprint out to your car, making sure to be quick to get to the daycare as fast as possible.

🐻 As you sit in the driver's seat, catching your breath, before opening up the book to look at the signature. In your joy, you forgot that he slipped a paper in there, as it drops to the floor. Picking it up, to your surprise, you see a phone number. There is a little note on the side, saying "Call me! I'd be happy to visit the daycare!" with a little, smiling winky face drawn next to it.

🐻 You feel your face grow red, again. He gave you his number? Yes, it is probably just to visit the daycare, but it is still shocking, nontheless. You like, JUST met him, after all. You smile, putting the paper in your pocket, as you head over to the daycare.

The Show Must Go on Darling: Wally x Parent g/n Reader

Today was a showing of your kid, Zoey’s favorite show Welcome Home. You always saw how she loved it at home so you worked double shifts to save up extra money to take her. She was all smiles and giggles and you enter the studio. You are a single parent and life can be hard but you love your little angel so much you’d do anything to make her smile. You and her sit together in the audience area , separate from the stage by a wall and window to show the show but also make sure the kids don’t run up and mess up the puppets. You look around. And it seems you are the only adult here with your child except from security. They must be regulars and their parents trust the studio enough to leave them here alone. The opening them song plays and a card board welcome home comes down from ceiling and rolls back up and the lights turn on , on the other side of the wall and a puppet with blue hair says , “Welcome neighbor, how are you today?” The kids say how they are including your angel and you smile fixing her hair. You are very surprised at how well the puppets are moving like they are alive ,which they are but the audience doesn’t know. Since the kids started squishing your daughter Zoey you put her on your lap and watch the episode they are recording.

Wally smiles at the kids and starts todays episode asking his question . But this time he is a bit shocked when he asks. There is an adult in the audience. Usually it’s only children sitting and watching them do their bits and such. He just couldn’t stop his eyes from always going back to them. They seem to have a kid they deeply cared for which says something because all the other kids parents ditch them here. As todays problem of accidentally messing up Howdy’s shop today with Julie happened. He was always looking at the audience the whole time. While he and Julie hide away from howdy. While Poppy gets onto them for it and saying they have to do the right thing. To them going to Howdy and saying they are sorry and will clean everything up. To howdy giving them both a hug and then brooms and a mop. To the store being cleaned and it late in the evening as Julie and Wally separate and Wally heads to home. Wally says “Well thank you neighbor for helping out today. We sure made a mess. I hope to see you again …. Really soon.” Wally smiles wide and waves heading back into Home and the lights go off and all the kids cheer.

You smile as Zoey laughs and smiles on your lap happily . “Well sweetheart, I hope you had a lovely day. I know how much you love this show and I just wanted to show you I love you,” you say and give her forehead a kiss. She jumps off your lap and reaches for you hand and y’all head to the exit. Suddenly a man ran up to you panting yelling wait. You turn around and stopped worried about the man and wait cause you felt bad. “ I’m Ronald Dorelaine, creator of welcome home and the neighborhood. One of our staff members would like to offer you life time passes for the show,” he says talking in breathes from running so fast. You gasp and shake your head, “oh no we couldn’t take that. We know how expensive it is to make the show and don’t want to take money and time out of your budget.” You smile and shake your head , not knowing a puppet was watching through the window glaring at Ronald. “No I insist you have it. Our main star wants y’all to come back more. We appreciate you watching the show and hope to see you again,” he said swearing either from running or nervous and gives y’all two passes then runs away. Little Zoey squeals and hugs hers. “(P/n) (that means parent name) we can come back whenever a new taping is. Oh can we please,” Zoey says practically giving puppy dog eyes. You sigh and nod. “I’ll make sure to take days off on the day of the shows for you Zoey,” you say and she squeals grabbing your hand and pulling you out of the studio. Not knowing a puppet was very happy and whispering, “ See you again, neighbor.”

Imagine Welcome Home being one of those kid’s shows where the cast is mainly puppets but then there’s like one or two humans thrown in the mix.

You are a child actor that featured as a main character on Welcome Home. You were someone for kids to relate to and see themselves through. You’d go on all sorts of adventures with Wally and the rest of the neighbors.

Sadly, eventually you were cut from the show after becoming too old to continue playing the role off the neighborhood’s human friend. You had to say a final farewell to your beloved friends as well as the viewers (think Steve from Blue’s Clues going to college).

Of course life didn’t end there. You moved on to bigger and better things. You eased into your adult years happy and healthy and with your own house, your own car, and a wonderful career. It wasn’t until your friends got you a special present for your birthday that Welcome Home finally came back to you.

Inside the opened present was a Wally plushie and a VHS tape of “Welcome Home: Julie’s Not So Joyful Day”.

You smiled. That was one of your favorites. It was where Julie suddenly gets very sad because her family hadn’t sent her any letters for a whole month and all the neighbors, including you, did everything in their power to make her feel better. You knew the ending, Eddie had misplaced the letters and forgot about them, but after a heartfelt apology and writing her family an apology letter, things ended up okay.

You happily thanked your friends and after everyone had headed home, you broke out and old (but still functioning) VCR player. Siding the pink VHS tape out of its colorful sleeve, you carefully pushing it into the slot and sat down the your couch with the remote.

The movie played well enough at first. Julie was skipping rope in her yard next to her mailbox, happily humming to herself. Eddie tipped his hat to her in greeting, but didn’t stop to give her any mail. Julie looked dejected at that, remarking that her family should have sent something by now. You engrossed yourself into the movie until it got to the part where Poppy came to talk to you, Barnaby, and Wally about Julie’s mood.

It was suppose to be a scene where you and Wally were painting Barnaby with an apple on his head. Instead, Barnaby and Wally were the only ones there with Poppy. You were gone and your canvas was tipped over and ruined. Even so the scene played on with the characters talking with noticeable pauses where you remember you had spoke. Everyone even reacted like you were speaking to them! Then just as Wally went to suggest that they should throw Julie a party, there was suddenly a weird glitch and the movie completely stopped.

You looked on in confusion. The movie was stopped right as Wally was turning around so that he was facing the viewer. The way the screen distorted Wally’s face almost made him look… sad. The way he looked at you was almost like he was sad to see you.

‘Lonely.’ Your mind supplied. ‘Lonely without you.’

You and Wally were the best of friends when you were part of the show. Everyone often referred to you as Wally’s little sibling from how you two acted like family. It made your heart ache as you remembered Wally’s crestfallen look when you told him you had to leave. He never wanted you to leave and if it were up to you, you wouldn’t have.

“—-ome he—“

That startled you out of your thoughts as the badly broken words sounded from your speakers. You looked to the screen and Wally’s face hadn’t moved.

“C-C-Co— he-rrr…”

You weren’t sure why but it almost felt like you were being called to. It felt silly to think a movie was calling to you but without thinking you got up and made your way over to the screen. You felt a bit nervous, but reminded yourself that there was nothing to felt scared of. Nothing was going to happen. Your mind was being unreasonable.

“Com— He-re…”

With a deep breath, you reached out and touched the screen.

…

Nothing happened.

You let out a small huff with a wry smile. You honestly don’t know what you were-

Suddenly small felt hands reached out of the tv wrapped around your outstretched hand and with surprising strength, pulled you forward and through the screen of your tv.

It was like you entered a portal in a fantasy movie. Once moment you were in your living room, the next you where free falling. You closed your eyes against the sudden dizziness as you plunged down to who knows where.

To your surprise, you never hit the ground. You just closed your eyes and moments later, you were being cradled in someone’s arms. The scent of paint and apple scented cologne hit you and stirred up find old memories in your mind. You’ve been held like this before after falling asleep after a long day of fun. You were carried home and put to bed by someone you trusted deeply.

But how could this be?

You carefully, slowly opened your eyes to find a sight you would have never expect.

Wally Darling in all his blue pompadour, rainbow attire, sleepy-eyed glory was looking down at you with a sweet smile as he held you in his arms.

“Welcome Home, Y/N.” His borderline monotone voice said. “It’s so good to see you again.”

favorite headcanons about roy harper and/or barbara gordon?

my two fave bitchy gingers who have kissed dick grayson on the mouth. i wish they interacted more in canon because babs is a lot like bruce in some ways but with none of the bat baggage and roy is capable of being very annoying to any bat he meets. also, their most notorious appearances in comics are both groundbreaking for different reasons (killing joke + snowbirds) but also portray their ability to overcome hardship and become something so much greater.

my favourite hc vein for roy is his dynamic as an adult with the other titans. one of the persephone sequels is about this cause i think it’s so much fun — especially with garth and wally. in titans99, despite his history of leadership and experience on the team, roy is still very much considered secondary to dick. wally “i picked a favourite child” west explicitly says he doesn’t want roy in a leadership position. roy is a dedicated single father, but garth “sees his kid every other weekend” gives him grief for being a goof. all the titans love each other, would die for each other, but that doesn’t mean they’re an incredibly well adjusted adults. they’re so messy, and i think roy as an emotional rock for them is an under-utilised part of the relationship. roy was the only thing tethering dick to the mortal plane after donna died!! he’s actually quite emotionally intelligent when he wants to be!

same kinda deal with babs — her network is so much more interesting when u divorce her from the cave. she’s so mean, and can be so terrible, but it all comes from a place of such deep caring. i really really want her and vic stone to hang out more because they have so much in common — a total lack of autonomy for something out of their control, then regaining their power through technological connection. it’d be a great narrative about disability! i don’t like when babs gets too entrenched in the titans in favour of ignoring vic’s spot on the team, so this would be a good counter balance

but more than that — i want roy to know that babs and dinah are fucking (engaging in ethical non monogamy) and i want dinah and babs to know that roy knows that they’re fucking (engaging in ethical non monogamy) and i want there to be a series of very awkward brunch dates with dick where everyone talks very loudly at each other and no one makes eye contact

Meet Eddie Dear's Family! These are my new Welcome Home Original Characters (WH OCs) that I created based on Eddie Dear, one of my favorite WH characters! It took me a while to finish them, but I'm happy to have them out of my head!

1. Their parents are Elizabeth and Eddison Dear. Beth is from Texas, and Edd is from Louisiana.

2. Emmett is the oldest among the three Dear siblings, and Eddie is the youngest. Ellie is the middle child and the one and only daughter of Beth and Edd (All of them are equally loved, don't worry 😆🤣👍).

3. Emmett is 8 years older than Eddie, while Ellie is 4 years older than Eddie.

4. Eddison and Emmett work at the family-owned hardware shop, with Emmett often handling deliveries using his truck. Beth works at the family post office, where she used to work alongside Eddie. Meanwhile, Ellie owns a diner that was passed down from her grandparents.

5. The Dear siblings all have mitten like hands! Though Ellie has more feminine ones. Perfect for hugging their friends, neighbors, partners, and of course each other!

Noble and Most Ancient House of Black — Headcanons

Pollux Black was thirteen when he had his eldest child Walburga.

Irma was forced to drop out of Hogwarts by her in-laws due to her pregnancy with her daughter.

Because of how young her parents were when she was born, Wally was nursed by Kreacher’s mother during infanthood and early childhood.

Melania Black was not a blood supremacist, nor did she follow the societal standards expected of women at the time.

She was independent in nature and had a mind of her own.

Melania did not wait around for men to tell her what to do and that was probably something that attracted Arcturus.

If you’ve watched the show Versailles then you’d be familiar with Princess Palatine who I’d say has the same personality.

She just gives off that kind of energy, ya know?

Melania was a very worldly woman with a bright mind, which made her intellectually dangerous.

And this discouraged Arcturus’s family from giving their blessing to let him marry her.

This also made Melania quite undesirable amongst other pure-blooded families who didn’t want to take on a bride who could potentially challenge their traditional values and expectations.

Her headstrong personality caused people to perceive Melania as difficult and untamed.

She came from a family of Hufflepuffs and bore their kind-hearted and warm disposition.

Melania refused to conform to the purist beliefs of her in-laws and remained accepting of all blood statuses.

She was against muggle hunting and muggle persecution, which obviously made it hard to be married into the Black family.

It took many years for Sirius II to accept Melania into the family and give his blessing for Arcturus to marry her.

Her own disdain towards the bigotry and racism displayed by her in-laws towards the muggle race was what set her aside from the rest of Black family.

Melania stuck out like a sore thumb compared to the rest of her husband’s relatives and that made her an easy target.

I’m sure on multiple occasions Arcturus’s parents had attempted to convince their son to divorce Melania.

But obviously for Arcturus what they were suggesting was out of the question.

Melania was never truly accepted into the Black family and would always be referred to as the “Macmillan girl” by Hesper Black.

Which upset Arcturus greatly as Melania was his wife and therefore was entitled to the Black family name.

Mel was the favorite grandmother of Sirius and Regulus between herself and Irma.

She was the only one who expressed pride towards her grandson Sirius getting sorted into Gryffindor.

When Sirius ran away, Melania still remained in contact with him and if it wasn’t for his disownment from the family then she would’ve allowed him to live with her and Arcturus.

But Arcturus wouldn’t allow it, saying that Sirius had disgraced the family and their reputation.

Besides Alphard, Mel was the one to financially support her grandson, even when he went to go live with the Potters.

She would also still call on Sirius for weekly tea dates at fancy restaurants or smth and then update Orion and Wally on how their son was doing just to rub it in their face that even though they disowned him they couldn’t keep Melania away from her grandbaby.

Like out of nowhere she would drop a comment about Sirius while crocheting a blanket like: “oh yes, your son is doing quite well, actually. He’s been made head boy, just like you Orion when you were his age.”

Oh those comparisons would strike a nerve for both Orion and Walburga.

Some days they would be upset, almost infuriated to hear of their son; their blood traitor of a son, the one who was as good as dead to them.

On other days — when Melania would tell them about how successful their eldest son had become, the one that ran away and never came back, the one they hoped would come back but never did, their pride and joy, favorite — their hearts would ache with loss and sorrow because all they wanted was for their family to be whole again.

When Melania died she left all of her assets to Sirius.

Walburga despised her mother-in-law for this, it was almost like one last “fuck you” from Melania.

Marius Black was eighteen when he was disowned from the family.

He was closest with his nephew Alphard who at the time was only seven when his uncle was forced to leave home.

Marius was a Squib, so he wasn’t a very valued member of House Black.
