Not to dip my toe into a boiling ocean of argument but quite a lot of the "Martials VS. Casters" powerscaling debate really could be solved without much of a mechanical overhaul if casters just built up higher level spellslots throughout the adventure rather than starting each day with a full tank of fireballs.

This is to say nothing of how much of a boon it'd be for mid to high level encounter balance/adventure design as you wouldn't have to design around the party having access to their biggest room clearing/boss nerfing abilities from the get go.

In fact, you'd be able to reverse the whole "wear them down with mooks before the final confrontation" dynamic, putting players on the defensive as they desperately search for more ways to charge up before the big threat finally bears down on them.

I know Drawsteel and a few other games are doing something similar, and I might take a crack at this at some point as part of my larger overhaul of 5e rest and recovery mechanics 🤔

your logic concerning the narrative is technically correct but unfortunately madara operates on his own crazy caveman logic, and while team seven can do. basically jackshit to stop him, as soon as kaguya takes over, they manage to beat her, which i think madara could easily interpret as black zetsu sacrificing madara to bring back someone weaker than him (did kaguya survive maito gai? no. did she survive a living full-power hashirama? no (neither did madara but pointing that out will just make him hard again). as far as he cares, all kaguya did was show up, steal his body via black zetsu hax, and then get pummeled by three teenagers, some corpses, and obito's ex. all of whom tried and failed miserably to stop madara).

now, technically, madara is crazy so his own potential thoughts on All That should be irrelevant.... if that had been the final battle. but the final fight of the series is naruto vs sasuke, and whoever is stronger is the most correctest, ultimately just. proving madara's power-over-all stance to be the correct one (i guess you could argue that naruto worked with kurama? but. idk kurama still doesn't really have the ability to just. leave. so i would at the very least have an asterisk there, personally)

THEY MEAN THE WORLDDDDD TO MEEEEEE for some reason a lot of people in the fandom don't play Ace Attorney 5 which is fair since it's kind of messy BUT. BUT. IT INTRODUCES ATHENA AND DOES SOOOO MUCH FOR THE WRIGHT ANYTHING AGENCY. In AA4 we learn that Trucy Wright made the Wright Talent Agency into the Wright Anything Agency in order to bring Apollo in as a lawyer when before it was just her (a magician) and her adopted father Phoenix (a poker player). and AA5 is all about Athena joining and Apollo learning how to trust her, at least it is to ME. they're so gooddddd aaaaaaa like you've got Phoenix and Trucy who are weirdos who love to scheme and you've got Apollo their longsuffering guy who deals with it all, and Phoenix is the mentor... and then Athena comes in and she has a lot of light and determination and trauma (just like the rest of them lol) and she's SO determined and I like her a lot!! And Trucy is my favorite and Phoenix cares about her SO much but he also has his other found family in the Feys!!!!!! Mia dies in the first game but her ghost stays with Phoenix and her sister/cousin Maya and Pearl are SO IMPORTANT TO HIM he loves them so much that's his sisters to me ;-; he would do anything for them and Trucy and he's growing as a mentor to Apollo and Athena too as the game progress... They don't write them all perfectly but they sure do a lot of things I like :) also feel free to split this up into their Wright Anything Agency or Phoenix + the Feys or Phoenix + Trucy if you need to I won't mind I just love AA's found family a lot

You officially adopt one but really, all of them are either sisters or daughters to you. Especially your loud, burger-loving lesbian sister. Your childhood friend turned rival turned lover, who has a whip-wielding adoptive sister of his own, goes on a series of investigations while messing around with a furry for a couple of weeks and returns with two 17 year old children, a thieving lesbian and a child with a narcissistic murderer for a father who should've kept him back in school a few grades. Your lover has each of them under an arm, and they are appended to your stable of weird little girls but are very much hidden in the back. Then you find out that your daughter, the official one, has a 22yo trans half-brother with a musical diva mother and was half raised as a prince in Khura'in, so you divorce his boss (who is not your official lover, you just had a weird thing for a while when you were in your alcoholic phase, maybe while your actual lover was still messing around with the furry) very publicly while sending him to prison for murdering your daughter's father. Oh, but you have been disbarred, so you make your daughter's son send his own boss to prison, by planting false evidence on him. Of course the young man punches you in the face. Needless to say he works for you for a couple of years and never finds out that he's related to your daughter because that would require a straightforward conversation, now wouldn't it?

Ace Attorney has some wonderful found families, but this one's particularly special because of their circumstances. (NON-SPOILERY) SUMMARY: One fateful evening, Peach runs into Theerakit, the owner of the company he occasionally works for and a member of the Arseni mafia family. Thee takes an interest in Peach’s colleague, a famous model Aran, but Peach steps between them, and Thee ends up asking him for help with impressing the model. While Peach gives Thee advice on courting and dating, he feels an unexpected connection with Thee, although it is mixed with fear of the notorious mafia. Meanwhile, Thee feels a strange comfort whenever he is around Peach and ends up slowly falling in love with him.

CHARACTERS

NOTE: The spelling of the names is not definitive, as there are many different, equally plausible ways of latinising Thai nicknames, names, and surnames.

"THEE" THEERAKIT KIAN ARSENI (early 30s) The owner of a perfume & jewelry brand under the Arseni name and a member of the Arseni mafia family. He is quite calm and rarely loses his temper, but exudes such menacing energy that a single move of a muscle makes most people around him tremble in fear. He deals with most problems by throwing money at them and isn’t very well-socialised, as he was particularly raised to not trust anyone outside his family. He is close to his parents, his brother Rome, and his bodyguard/secretary Mok, but is otherwise cold and distant to people. He has never been in a relationship, although he’s had many one-night stands.

"PEACH" PEECHAYARAT JENKIT (likely, mid-20s) A young freelance photographer who occasionally works for Theerakit’s perfume & jewelry brand. He has no family, aside from his younger sister Phlub, who he has taken care of his entire life. He is introverted, doesn’t like going out, and describes himself as “bad at socialising”. He often feels lonely and like he has only himself to rely on. He can also be occasionally petty, although not excessively so. He has tried dating many times before but has never managed to truly fall for any of his ex-girlfriends and was always quickly broken up with for being “too boring”.

ARAN A famous model who works for Theerakit’s perfume & jewelry brand and one of Peach’s friends. He is rather timid and cute. He is in love with the actor Tawan, although he is not in an official relationship with him.

TAWAN A famous actor who occasionally models for Theerakit’s perfume & jewelry brand. He is charming, but short-tempered, and often incredibly jealous of anyone who comes anywhere near Aran.

MOK Thee’s bodyguard and secretary, the only person outside of the Arseni family who truly knows him, and his only friend. He is loyal, smart, and fair. He is in an on-again, off-again relationship with Thee’s brother, Rome.

ROME Thee’s younger brother and the future head of the Arseni mafia family. He is intelligent and cunning. He loves to tease his brother and his (sometimes) boyfriend Mok and is generally very playful. He and Thee are close.

PHLUB Peach’s younger sister. A confident extrovert, she couldn’t be any more different from her brother, but they are nonetheless very close, and she is grateful for how much he has sacrificed for her. She would go to war for Peach if necessary and really wants him to find happiness after the hard life that they have lived.

NATH (THEE AND ROME’S MOTHER) A former actress and model, who is known for her villain roles, now the wife of an infamous mafia boss, she can be intimidating and deadly. However, when she is with her family, she is a warm and occasionally teasing mother, who wants nothing but for her children to be happy. *Thee and Rome's father does not appear in the novel directly, but he is described as being open-minded, deeply in love with his wife, and wishing for his work-obsessed older son Thee to find love the same way he did.

WIWIT A new creative team leader at Theerakit’s perfume & jewelry company, who has a vendetta against Peach.

MIUM Peach's ex-girlfriend. After their short and failed relationship, the two easily became friends. She works in the same industry as Peach and, at one point, offers him a job.

KIN (20) A young model, who starts working at Theerakit’s perfume & jewelry company. He becomes infatuated with Peach and flirts with him relentlessly.

I've alluded to the concept a number of times, but here's my redesign for OLC Belle the Sleeping Car wildly roleswapped into a Momma/Poppa figure for Electra, as Belle the GG1. You could probably give her a better name, but Belle is passable enough since all locomotives in the US have bells, I mainly kept it to preserve the flow of her song (see below cut for her version!). Based on their status and appearance in their absolute final running days in 1984. They may look glossy and pretty (if a WILD time warp) but they were on their absolute last gasp physically at this point after running for nearly 50 years, due to a lack of suitable replacement. Her dress follows a similar logic to Greaseball's outfit in that it represents the streamlined cowl, which is why she's less mechanical than most.

Personality-wise, she's also oooooold and based on Ella Fitzgerald, even more heavily than OLC Belle since she's fits perfectly with the time/place/personality of the GG1s. Both started in the mid-30s in New York City, and were noted for being "effortless" and almost unparalleled in their field. I tend to imagine her playing more on the "cute, humble, and improvisational" side of Ella, entering the big race just to have one last good run before she retires, and forgetting lyrics and making up something that sounds natural. In my mind she wins because the tracks are rough and winding, which she's far more used to that the other Nationals, with how decrepit parts of her Northeast Corridor were in the 80s and still are now- experience is a quality that counts for a lot!

She toes the line between OC and AU since she's such a twist on the original but stays largely true to her general concept. I'll call her more of an AU and say anyone is free to use this interpretation if they want, I'm not possessive of it at all.

Realistically she'd be dead as a doornail after 1984 (GG1s will just never run in preservation, they were in such bad shape and would need so much work to function on modern systems you may as well build a new replica). But make a cheeky joke about Controls' mom "sticking the old shell on a new body and not telling the kid" and she can come back. I like to think she'd have a flirty, playful rivalry with Momma/Poppa, she'd make Light At The End Of The Tunnel a duet about how steam is great.... for power plants! The Pennsylvania Railroad just stopped getting more steam engines when it electrified lines vs axing them so she wouldn't have any historical antagonism with them.

Here's my rewrite of Belle's Song largely following the original format, but now about the real history of the GG1s

Sorry this took a while @social-muffin! Also thank you for your interest in Kana and Kurumi's great-great-great grannies hahaha The questions below are based from Muffin's KHR OC ask post over here 🥰✨

I thought answering the questions for this prompt would work as a way to talk about them, since I barely get to draw/talk abt them vs their 10th gen counterparts. But do not be fooled, they also live in my head rent-free. Whenever I remember them, I start screaming, crying and throwing up. Thank you KHR for having a 1st gen in ur story, its another excuse for us to make another set of twin OCs.

What's your OCs name, pronouns and gender?

(Left, Older Twin) Name: Rinko Ninomiya Pronouns: She/Her Gender/Sex: Female (Gigachad, Alpha Female)

(Right, Younger Twin) Name: Ryuuka Ninomiya Pronouns: Any (People mostly use She/Her due to their clothing) Gender/Sex: Male (Doesn't bother correcting people who see them as Female, like with Kana, I'll mostly use she/her for consistency)

What's their current age and what age do/did they get involved with the khr Canon?

I guess if we were to make a sidestory for them, we'd make the "current" timeline for the story when their age is around 23-24. But the first time they kind of got involved with KHR canon should be around mid-teens, when they met Asari! Then around age 19-20, Rinko should've met Giotto by then.

For comparison, the twins are more or less one year older than Giotto.

What do they look like? Height, weight, unique physical features? (Drawings, Picrews, descriptions, all are welcome! Except AI art lmao)

Anyway, they both have the exact same height (168cm) and weight (49kg). For any unique physical features, I guess that would be for Ryuuka? She always tries to make it so that she's the same height/weight as her older twin. Even the choice of feminine clothing is because she wants to be perceived to have a feminine appearance like her.

What's your OCs relation to KHR? Are they someone's guardian, friend, subordinate, love interest? Or are they a family member of a canon character? If so, how are they related to that character?

They're both Giotto's close friends! This is the root of where the current Vongola and Oniyanagi's partnership agreement came from in the 10th Gen period. Rinko met Giotto first in a formal social gathering at Italy, through Asari. Rinko had a crush on Giotto at first sight, so naturally(to her), she immediately tried to befriend him like the gigachad that she is.

(fucksdjfhjsdf now I'm remembering that one tik/tok jojo sent me with the "itulak mo ako!"/"push me!", except it's Rinko and she asked Asari to push her to Giotto's direction => so Giotto can catch her lmao hahahaha)

Ryuuka wasn't there at that time since she was in Japan managing family affairs while Rinko was away, but she did eventually get to meet Giotto some time after that. Rinko looked very happy when she came home after all and told her all about the new friends/allies/business partners that she made while in Italy.

In the 1st Gen Vongola Guardians line-up, Ryuuka is also close friends with Asari. While they do spar together, since they're both experts with swords. More often, she also just goes to hang out and listen to him play the flute.

Rinko is also friends with Knuckle, the problem is that she's trying to get him to retire as priest and go back to boxing. So they can be gym junkies together 😭 (please imagine someone trying to convince their who swore off drinking to start drinking again)

Both of them have Sky flames!

How does your OC use their flame? Strictly for combat, or more recreationally? Is flame use something instinctive to them, or do they have to direct their flame consciously?

From what me and Sou have right now, they currently just use it during combat. Though even then, they only use it when needed (usually it's not). The use of flames is also instinctive to them too.

Does your OC have a mafia family they are a part of? If so, what's their position in that Familia?

They're both the boss of the Oniyanagi yakuza family! Though the one seen more in public is Rinko, since she's the one mostly in the frontline of both battles and networking opportunities. On the other hand, Ryuuka is often locked up in her lab and handles various matters behind the scenes.

If your OC was a civillain what would their job be? Would they be happy with that job? Would they be good at it?

I'm thinking of modern times jobs right now so it's more fun hehe

Rinko would be a gym instructor that also runs a travel vlog channel! She love working out so much (it's insane) and has a wander lust as well. She'd be very good at both and would be very popular for it. She's also a great cook, the only catch is that she adds protein in almost all of her dishes.

Ryuuka is already a scientist herself. But she'd very much be a full time scientist as a civilian, particularly in the field of Biotechnology. She'd be a renowned expert in her industry, just don't let Umbre//lla Corp hire her (yes, this is a RE reference). She'd also be one of Geppetto Lorenzini's biggest fans in a gatekeeping type of way.

Rinko's voice claim is Ami Koshimizu, while Ryuuka's voice claim is Kana Hanazawa!

Rinko used to wear kimono or yukata, but ever since she started travelling to more western countries, she started to have a preference for western style clothing as well, so she wears suits and dresses in those styles.

Mostly when at work, Ryuuka just wears a white lab coat with a black turtleneck dress underneath. Though when just chilling at home or on rest days, she wears a black yukata and a white haori. She doesn't really have a dream style, since fashion isn't on her priority list.

honest-to-god breakcore. in a nintendo game. that's the big selling point here but i'm also gonna paste an (edited and trimmed down) infodump i made about how well it fits the boss it's made for, Pinging Marciale. Pinging Marciale is a giant ball-shaped clamlike thing with three distinct shell layers that mark its three phases, but the main relevant thing to how it relates to this track is in how it moves. the song has a few sections where it sounds like the beat is bouncing around back and forth and that kind of motion is sorta reflected in the background beat throughout the track, which parallels the boss that frequently bounces around the arena due to the bumpers in it. in general it gives off a stronger vibe of constant movement than either of the other mid-run boss themes, which ties into the fact that the boss gets knocked back every time it takes damage, forcing you to actively chase it down whenever you're making a push to lower its health. the melody that starts at 0:43 really highlights that kind of active chase to me, which i think is very cool.

This plays near the end of the questline for the base game & really enhances an already beautiful scene, chills when the music swells.

Read your lore olympus post and I find it interesting that you look at it as someone in hade's shoes vs persephone's.

I'll admit I'm not the target audience for Lore Olympus so take my criticisms with a grain of salt. I've only read whatever has been shown to me by friends and yeah, I'm a masc person in their mid 30's. Of course I'm not going to relate to the 19 year old girl I'm going to wind up looking at it from the perspective of the guy who has to put up with the burden of being the other half of a relationship with a 19 year old girl. At my current age and life phase I cannot FATHOM that there is a single desirable quality to this character. She's completely helpless, has the personality of wet toast, no real ambitions or prospects of her own and no knowledge of how the adult world works. She ends up being "the other woman" in a love triangle of sorts and doesn't seem to have a single clue of the gravity of that or any concern for what that says about Hades, that he's more or less cheating, or thinking of cheating, on is current partner with her. I feel like we're supposed to think she's just innocent or sweet but the reality is that she's not cute, she's just insipid.

Until she tries to be a girl boss then she's just grating. Like...no, honey, you barely know what taxes are. Daddy had to get you a job at his company, stop acting like you're suddenly a badass. This kid needs a parent, not a partner. I can't picture any kind of relationship with an individual like that where the other half doesn't end up feeling like they're raising a child. This isn't wife material, it's a pink infant with huge tits.

As always, I'm interested in the media around each event and as you laid it out, my mind remembered what was being reported, true or untrue or speculation vs manifesting.

And thinking of the sheer volume of media running throughout that timeline, I'm less surprised the UK media ( and some USA media) want the Sussexes back. Their need for drama, played out in public, plus Sunshine sachs astroturfing the media with their bazillion articles everyday kept the media paid and busy.

During this period, I remember personally feeling as besieged as my first year working after I left university. My first job that year was an internship in a PR firm and my job was to collect and read all the daily newspapers and watch morning news until 9.30am when the feelgood morning shows took over. I only watched the morning shows if we had a client / newsstory / rivals were on. 

I had to prepare a mid-morning briefing for my boss and create a press file of our clients' media.

What I came to notice was just how much royal media was pumped out everyday, but that the Diana media was a tsunami and I began to see that most of it was generated by her and felt like a combo of stunt Queen drama she created which the media loved. A year of this and I felt Diana poisoned. 

Fast forward to the Sussexes and the year you've described and I felt the same way about it. I'm no longer in PR, but I've kept that habit of keeping up with all the daily news and that Sussex year was a tsunami just like Diana.

It was a relief when they Megxited - they had a final year of tsunami media until Sunshine sachs ditched them, but it wasn't as intense as the year you've described. 

I imagine the strain the family must have been under because they were in the direct path of hurricane Sussex. They must have felt so besieged the entire time if a stranger like me felt the strain while being just as observer with ability to turn it off if I chose. 

No wonder they all look much more relaxed since the Sussexes megxited. And we should all thank our stars that the Sussexes can no longer afford Sunshine Sachs because it's stopped the tsunami of daily media ( a Sunshine Sachs MO).

Ps: if you doubt how Sunshine Sachs operates, ask yourself why JLO has been in the media everyday for the past 20yrs when she's not producing hit records, films or brand sponsorships. Most celebrities hire them for a limited period usually when selling something, but JLO hired them to keep her front and centre at all times. And Markle followed suit until she couldn't afford them anymore.

I saw you pointing out how Vivienne has not changed since the Zoophobia comic back then and after thinking about that, I can only agree.

She is still introducing way too many characters as if she really needed them all. More than half end up not even being relevant because she only wants to focus on her favorites. She only wants to show off her OCs.

Her character designs are still all over the place and do not make sense nor are they elaborated. Why is Angel a spider? No one knows. Why does Moxxie have those legs but no other imp does? When was there ever a connection between Lucifer and ducks in the Bible? Bible Lucifer was supposed to be the most beautiful angel in heaven before he was cast out. Is she saying ducks are the height of beauty?

She still can't commit to finishing anything. She never finished Zoophobia. Look at what happened with the empty promise that way Allison. Her shows feel so half-assed because she just doesn't fully commit to them and instead always wants to move on what SHE likes and the parts SHE wants to show. What's in between doesn't matter nor if the plots remain unresolved or even makes sense.

The fact that she already wants to make a spin-off for the Vs + has made Helluva Boss before Hazbin Hotel was actually out shows that she still cannot commit to anything. She doesn't want to commit to characters. She doesn't want to commit to her own stories. She doesn't want to commit to her own shows, no matter how "passionate" she is about them. Maybe she is passionate about the concept of them, about the concept of Hazbin Hotel. But absolutely not about the actual show.

I genuinely am baffled that YouTube Essay people who cover her hardly ever seem to focus on these really big issues. Her own issues as a person aside - sometimes it seems as if no one notices why her shows, specifically Hazbin, are so mid and or below that.

Hazbin Hotel is just another empty promise of her's. She promised rich characters and yet she needs to canonize the headcanons of her fans and comes up with things on the spot, even though she's had some of them for so long. She promised a mature cartoon for adults. But her idea of mature is the same as that of edgy teens and Jojo Siwa. She promised a story that critizes Christianity but the story itself doesn't seem to know what Christianity is half the time.

This. She really keeps on giving great promises and not following through. She seems she will go farther than she did with Zoophobia but in exchange flop hard in execution because she doesn't properly build anything up or focuses on her favorites at the detriment of other characters. Also again she can't commit to a premise to save her life and it devolves into madness. Also old criticisms of Vivziepop's work are always so familiar and her fans have been always so crappy.
