I feel like this dude and my great-aunt would have gotten along like a house on fire.

Now this old lady, she was an absolute legend.

At the age of 84, she would wait for her husband to get really into his newspaper, and then she would nip out the kitchen door, totter along the side of the house on her canes, and knock on the front door. Then she would totter away back to the kitchen at speed while her husband took off his glasses, folded the paper, made his way up from the chair, and went to the door.

When he opened the door, there would be a cackle from the kitchen because!! Nobody there!

And in her last days, when she was dying of cancer, her brother came to visit. He'd been summoned because it was time to say goodbye.

And as they were all standing around her bed being sad she beckoned the nurse closer.

The nurse leans in.

My great-aunt whispers: 'you want to be careful of Hardy 👀. He's got wandering hands 🤏🖐️' (sadly there is no emoji that quite captures the mental image of a little old lady lying in a hospital bed making gestures with her hands like she's grabbing a great big pair of tits, so you will have to use your imagination)

Anyway, I think more people should be like my great-aunt Johanna and this dude.

I think a lot about Leo standing up for his brothers in the things that really matter to them.

Like- Leo is the one who immediately pushes Mikey and Donnie into finding Raph the second it’s clear that their oldest brother is missing because he knows Raph can’t handle being separated like that.

Leo is the one who stands up for Mikey when Mikey wants to go on a solo mission, actively vouching for him and being the one to convince Raph into letting Mikey go, because being independent and proving himself just as capable of standing on his own two feet as everyone else means so much to Mikey.

And Leo defends Donnie’s honor in particular when his brothers’ intelligence is insulted because Leo is well aware of how important Donnie’s smarts are to him - and how important having those smarts valued and acknowledged is as well.

All this goes right into just how well Leo knows his brothers. For as much as he’ll tease or fight with them, he knows them, and he loves them.

...I seriously cannot stress how much I hate tags like "Give us BAMF Aziraphale" because it seems to imply that he's not badass.

He IS. Tell me how well most people could endure 6000 years of consistent, persistent demoralization, harassment and shitty treatment without snapping?

Do you know how HARD it is to be kind when you've been put through a system that actively discourages kindness and softness, a system that tries to beat it out of you - not physically, but still. The fact that Aziraphale got through all of that and is not just still kind, but still has the capacity to be kind to the very people who hurt him, is fucking remarkable.

Aziraphale is badass. Period. Full Stop.

It's well past time that we stopped equating physical and fighting prowess as a measure of badassery. Just about anyone can exercise and get strong enough to fight someone. Just about anyone could possibly get weapons training. Neither of these things is half as brave as putting yourself in front of a crowd of people and holding off 70 demons with just conviction and a candleholder because it's the RIGHT THING TO DO.

I feel like people are buying into Heaven's version of badassery. Angels were made to FIGHT. To fight the last big battle against demons and Hell.

Aziraphale is a deviation because he DOES NOT WANT THAT. He doesn't want to fight a war that will hurt billions and destroy the world. His defining moment in Season 1 is when he stands in the face of the quartermaster and refuses to fight the way they want him to. Instead of a weapon, he chooses to find another way.

If anything, I would think it's leading to the idea that Aziraphale feels he must fight, that he has no choice, and then, when it comes right down to it, finding another way. A kinder way. A BETTER way.

By the standards of Heaven, Aziraphale picking up his sword and fighting would be Normal. Him refusing and finding another way is what makes him Unique. THAT'S what makes him badass.

One way to tell someone doesn't really care about abuse victims and is just posturing when they claim to is that when you point out to them that you are one and they're doing things that hurt abuse victims more than help them, they ignore you completely and run away from the conversation instead of owning up to their mistake. He is not her keeper. She doesn't have to agree with him. But really, to me The Cat Returns is the best ghibli movie, although I can understand why people might not really like it... It doesn't really fit the usually chill ghibli style and is more adventure/action packed, and as far as I remember they don't even have the traditional Let's Just Sit Here In Silence For Ten Minutes moments... Which is all that ghibli is about, and I love this particular movie exactly because it doesn't have all that, and it's fun, and it's packed with cats, and Baron is the ultimate badass (and we also share the mbti type so he just like me if I were a sword-wielding gentleman cat)
