gods i love wired headphones. love having headphones with a headphone jack (and thus a replaceable cable) and no other way of playing music. love 10 foot long audio cables. love dedicated usb DACs. love headphones that are designed primarily for long-term listening comfort and don't need to have extra bulk in hinges or padding to make them more sturdy or flexible to accommodate being shoved in a bag when you're done with your commute. love high-quality audio with no perceptible delay and no fucking battery life and no extra mass from a bluetooth module and microprocessor and flashable ROM and a battery and charging circuit and onboard DAC and amp driving the speaker(s) weighing my head down.

i never really post about my trinkets but today i got my hands on the first dvd volume of His and Her Circumstances (Kareshi Kanojo no Jijou), otherwise known as its shortened form: Kare Kano, FOR FIVE WHOLE US DOLLARS !!! so i decided to scan it in + a Right Stuf survey which was SO cool to see. i have another one for adv somewhere so ill scan that in some other time whenever i find it again.

im watching it with my good buddy hulkenstein right now and im really enjoying it so far. were only 6 episodes in (which is whats included in this dvd !!!) but it is such a wonderfully put together show. if youve never heard of kare kano before, its sort of romcom about two lowkey highkey larp as hell high schoolers who keep playing 5d chess with each other to maintain their image as perfect students until the like what. fourth episode ? where they kiss and make up so now its mostly comedy with jumpcuts to stylish urban and natural environments with longwinded monologues that anno (evangelion) makes incredibly funny to watch cuz again these are two larp kids at school so ok yeah i rock with this.

with the super serious bits theres sometimes stretches of nice animation (other than anno, theres other guys working on this like now studio trigger animators imaishi and hiramatsu) theres also extremely silly, snappy, and stylized blobs of characters flailing around to make it just a bit sillier. additional screenies and gif i liked below. one day we will finish watching this and i will give it like an 8 probably.
