"Tyler, mijo!"

The party was still in full swing when Gomez' jubilant voice overcame the hum of the gentlemen present, catching his attention.

Dressed in his favorite crimson shirt, his uncle stood among Outcasts of all types, showing off his unequalled talent with two blades.

Gomez' daggers shone under the dim lights of the lamps, whipping the air as they were thrown and picked up effortlessly.

For the Addams Family knives were not a simple weapon, they were an art. And to dance with them while courting Death? Ohhhh, the thrill!

Tyler didn't really need to use a blade to defend himself... or to dispose of his enemies. He had his claws, after all. Still for his thirteenth birthday, after the whole Debbie Matter, Tio Gomez had gifted him with a magnificent inlaid dagger which once had belonged to Mordred, son of Morgana.

The legend said that the blade was soaked with King Arthur’s blood, Mordred's father and his greatest betrayal. An old, cursed dagger that Tyler guarded jealously. Because he was an Addams, in his heart if not in blood. And you could not consider yourself a self-respecting Addams without a cursed blade by your side.

After leaving Xavier with his new beau, the Hyde made his way through the guests, greeting Cousin Itt and some of his co-workers. Tio Gomez had insisted that parties like this were a boon to business and Tyler could see the appeal of his uncle's words.

Businessmen, assassins, lords of old and distant lands. Many had answered to Gomez Addams' call and all were left quite charmed by Tyler's easy smile and jovial nature.

The reopening of The Club666 was a success and he had managed to make several connections, useful for their plans. But it was no surprise. He was a Hyde and Hydes were well known for being masters in disguising themself and blending with all the sorts of people.

Still, after three hours spent in Vincent Thorpe's presence, the only thing that Tyler wanted to do was go home and sleep... better if in his Wednesday's bed.

Or rip the man's throat with his teeth. He was not that picky.

"My boy!"

Tio Gomez laid his blades on a table nearby and firmly grabbed Tyler. The older Addams squeezed him so hard that the boy heard his bones creak.

He liked... loved Gomez' easy displays of affection.

If his Ange de la nuit was Fester's prodigy and Pugsley their mother's sweet boy, Gomez... Gomez was Tyler's.

Tyler's father, mentor, role model.

He owed the man everything.

He didn't remember much from before, before his eighth birthday. It was like his life had started with the accident, with the memory of his mother being impaled in their car and her pained voice whishing him to run. There was nothing before the red of that night and the rage that had come with his Hyde being awakened.

But Gomez had taken that little and unruly monster and shaped him in a new kind of beast. The man had taught him fencing, how to charm people and court women... well, woman. The rules of honor and the love for a well - executed manslaughter.

If Tyler was free from the bane of having to serve a master as his Hyde nature often required, it was thanks to Gomez. Wednesday's love had given him a mate, true; but his uncle had taught him how to find the balance he needed to be one and the same with his Hyde and be his own Master.

If one day Tyler could become even just half of the man that Gomez Addams was, then he would be satisfied.

"Tio".

Gomez gave Tyler one final pat on the shoulder, passing him a glass of whiskey. "Excellent party, my boy. I had no doubt that it would be a success!" The older Addams lit a cigar, raising his own glass in a toast.

Tyler gave him a half smile, bowing his head a little. "I'm glad. Where's Tio Fester?"

From the other side of the hall a prehistoric roar made the windows shake.

"There he is. Ohhh, that's Cousin Irwin! I thought he was still in the Galapagos mixing with... indigenous fauna".

For a moment Tyler thought to ask what "mixing with the indigenous fauna" meant, but after all these years he knew better. Sometimes you had to accept the strangest things without many questions.

The Hyde brought the glass to his lips, taking a long sip of the amber liquid. The whiskey burned his throat, but he had to admit he quite liked the taste. It was sweet, metallic. It reminded him of blood.

"So, this is the famous Hyde everyone is talking about".

Tyler was surprised by a quiet voice a few steps away from them. He had been unaware of the man’s arrival and this was new.

He was very proud of his predatory senses, so being able to catch him off guard was quite the feat. Strictly speaking, Wednesday was the only one who could do it.

Yet this man had managed to startle him.

How nice.

The stranger wore a long leather coat, the dark shirt underneath open on his chest. A friendly smile peeked out of his well-groomed beard, while his dark eyes had a commanding light that Tyler had rarely seen. The stranger was not particularly tall, but something in his smell made the boy's blood boil. The man reeked of danger and death and the Hyde's claws were itching to come out.

Tyler was sure his eyes had turned red.

Tante Tish had carefully chosen each one of his guests, the best of the Outcast society. However, Tio Gomez had pushed for a few names and Tante Tish had smiled in her mysterious way at his suggestions.

"Never fought a Hyde before, but there's always a first time for everything". The stranger's smile never wavered.

"Lucian, mi amigo! It's been ages since I’ve seen you on this side of the world!" His uncle’s ecstatic tone calmed his blood thirst, but only a little. This man was dangerous and Tyler had no intention to leave his guard down.

"Gomez".

Tio Gomez and the stranger, this Lucian, exchanged a warm handshake. Two vampires stood behind the newcomer and the Hyde could smell gunpower on them. All the guests had been disarmed before entering the Club, but that did not mean much for their kind.

"Tyler, mijo, I want you to meet my dear friend Lucian. Best drinking buddy you could ask for. I miss our late nights, mi amigo!"

"I’m sure we can catch up one of these nights, Gomez. I’ll be in town for a while".

Tio Gomez offered his friend a cigar, lightining It with a match. Lucian took a long breath, slowly exhaling the smoke. He motioned to the two men behind him, who quickly disappeared among the guests.

As he truly needed bodyguards. There was something in the way he moved that screamed "power", making every cell in Tyler's body ache for a good fight. His scent reminded him of the Wild, of a wet dog and... blood. It was something familiar but, at the same time, the strangest combination he had ever met. The Hyde could not understand what kind of Outcast he was facing.

For a moment he was reminded of Enid, but the newcomer's scent was stronger. Older. Like a werewolf on steroids.

Something in his expression must have showed his doubts, for Tio Gomez' friend laughed. "The wife worries".

"I feel you, my friend. And how is your darling Sonja?"

Lucian smiled, this time for real. "Busy with her new Blood Sucker Council and with the training of our grand-daughter. With Selene still in the North and Michael overseeing the Labs, the kid stays with us".

"Ahhh, the joys of life! There’s nothing better than the sound of tiny fangs struggling with their first hunt!" Gomez gave Tyler a side glance and the boy let out a small laugh. His uncle was not very subtle.

"You know it won't work on me, Tio. Wednesday's desires are mine and I will never force her to do something she doesn’t want."

Now, nothing said there might not be one or two little Hydes in their future. Maybe one with his curls and his cockroach's black eyes too, but that was something he would have to work on later. He didn't like to share Wednesday's time, yet he could make an exception for a few pups of his own blood.

Lucian looked at him with something akin to respect. "Good answer, little Hyde. Good answer. We would be nothing without the ladies in our life. But Tio? I thought you were Gomez' son".

His uncle gave him a sound pat on the shoulder, cracking another bone or two. "Nephew, son, who cares? He is an Addams!"

Again Tyler felt his lips move, melt into a smug smile just as Gomez remarked on him being family. One day Tyler would marry his Ange de la Nuit, there was no doubt. But to know he was wanted, that he belonged for just being Tyler... it made his soul roar, euphoric!

With the corner of his eye, he saw Lucian’s calculating look fix on him like he was some kind of puzzle. "Well, young Addams. Let's talk business. You don't refuse a personal invitation from Gomez Addams, but I'm sure I didn't come here for the open bar. So I will ask you only once: why did I leave Budapest and my beloved wife for the rainy Jersey?"

Tyler let out another small laugh. He could appreciate a direct approach but, above all, he had not missed the way the guests around them had quieted while they were speaking. Fear and humor: his favorite way to deal with people.

"From your tone, monsieur, you make it look like I’m sowing the seeds of a war. I'm just a kid starting a business".

"A business that has mysteriously gathered together all the most influential Outcasts in the world, it seems".

"Potato, pothato. We are Addams, after all. The cooky and the spooky are in our blood and it's not my fault this family knows lots of interesting people". Tyler grinned widely, before giving Lucian the most innocent look he could master.

"Bold, kid. I'll grant you this. And I'm willingly to give you the chance to tell me about your innocent business. You remind me so much of another young smart-ass".

"Who?"

"Myself. The last time I started an innocent business, I lead a rebellion against a cult of geriatric blood-suckers".

For once Tyler was left speechless. This man was hilarious.

"So, Gomez. Let's show the boy how us Hungarians conduct business".

While he spoke Lucian took off his coat, unbuttoning his shirt with care. His skin started to change, turning callous and blue.

His hands morphed in claws, while his bones were realigning themself and his mouth stretched outwards: it now looked like the muzzle of a wolf. If his eyes were warm before, now they were two bottomless pools of darkness.

"What..."

"Our Lucian here is a Lycan/Vampire Hybrid, one of the first ever existing". Tio Gomez wrapped an arm around his shoulders, pulling on his cigar again. "Every Lycan pack on the Eastern Europe is under his command".

The chilling sound of bones breaking and cartilage stretching ceased and the Hybrid gave him the parody of a smile, showing his impressive fangs. "What do you say, boy. First blood?"

Tyler felt his face break into a wide grin, his blood singing for violence and pain. This man was awesome: powerful and funny, the right kind of Outcast you would want by your side in a war.

And Lucian had been right: Tyler had a war in mind. A war against all those backstabbing traitors who had shunned his kind for the sake of money and social power. He could not wait for it!

He passed his jacket to Gomez. "Hold it for me, Tio. Tante Tish will strangle me if I destroy another one!"

With the adrenaline pumping, he was already half-morphed. A manic light lit up his face.

He loved Addams' parties!

Wow, not sure I would have been able to finish this but I DID IT!!! It had been sitting on my phone for weeks, but with the way work has been going on lately I had no chance to fix it.

So this is my New Year’s Resolution: I want to write more!

P.S: Yes, that's Lucian from Underworld. Yes, he is still alive and married to Sonja. But I needed a strong Outcast and I still have a crush on him, so fight me 😑
