I'm afraid I might be rather boring. Here's the list maker for anyone who'd like to make their own.

ok first, before i forget, i don't remember sending that eris ask in but i know it was the night i got drunk and couldn't stop thinking about him lol eris has me by the throat and thank u if you actually write one of my ramblings 🙏

about the tier list, you not liking reading major character death or unhappy ending but like writing it is so funny but also terrifying please have mercy. some of them were surprising but others i expected like i knew dark fic was going to be s tier because you write the best ones. i guess it changes a bit from what you usually write to what you like to read about

turns out i can't send images on asks on anon so 💔 but i can just do a rundown of mine:

- s tier is: slow burn, mutual pining, friends to lovers, arranged marriage, fake relationship, fluff and angst

- a tier: sharing a bed, enemies to lovers, unrequited love, established relationship, huddle for warmth, pwp, soulmate

- b tier: dark fic, in vino veritas, fix it fic, hurt comfort, first kiss

- c tier: amensia, abo, sex pollen, missing scenes, bang or die, humor

- then there's a special row for canon divergence

- and the ones i don't really like are: prangancy fic, baby fic, major character death, love triangle, unhappy ending, crossover, crack fic, body swap, high school au

i want to clarify that unrequited love is pretty high but i usually like it when it turns out not to be unrequited because i like the momentary angst but i like an happy ending

also the aus are hard to rank because what i usually like and read about is already fantasy or magic so they're not really relevant. and they left out the best ones like demon au or vampire au

and the canon divergence has its own row because when there's a oc there's going to be changes but i don't like when those changes are to the point of me barely recognizing the acotar world yk and i don't like when certain things are changed but i don't mind with others (like some fics don't have nyx), i guess that's king of personal for each person. also in other fandoms i tend to like all the characters that end up dead somehow so i like when they're alive or when the fic kind of ignores some of the main plot of the show because it completely changed the dynamics of it at some point or killed basically everyone off, being a fan of anime is torture

also i just read the dark!rhys fic and i love it so much, i need more of him in my life. do you have any more dark rhys fics planned? i like that sjm made him nicer in the books and all but the high lord of the night court being a little darker and leaning more into the morally grey just hits different - 🧶

I’ve got the first one done!! It will hopefully be going up tonight! I decided to write the friends to lovers one where Eris has just become High Lord + slightly drunken confession just to ease into his character! Hopefully next will be energies to lovers + arranged marriage with a little more CBMTHY-type dialogue 🧡💛

I can promise there’ll be no major character death in CBMTHY and it won’t have an unhappy ending—don’t worry :)

It’s only fun when the story is under my control which I think is understandable? I can experience angst within a controlled environment so I don’t have to worry about actually getting upset, which makes it easier 😭

That’s a really good point, I completely forgot about demon/vampire/werewolf aus or the pirate ones? Those ones I would 100% read—especially vampire/demon ones because oh my gosh 😳😳🫣

I think maybe for a fandom that didn’t already have magic and royalty, then the magic and royalty au’s might be fun as a once-every-so-often sort of thing? But I don’t think they’d be a frequent read.

Like probably a lot of other people, I really loved the suriel, so it’s death made me so sad 😞 There was another ToG character who I absolutely adored (not the TaB one) and Miss Maas had them die and I was so upset 😔

workplace romance - only if they're coworkers on the same level. I hate boss/secretary type stuff (or boss with any lower-level coworker)

fucking hate teacher/student but I love teacher/teacher (and there's not enough of those)

age gap is mostly eh, but if one of them is around 18-21 and the other is way over then it's a hell no from me

strangers to lovers is only in eh because it's very dependent on how they meet

What are your favorite tropes to write for it could be anything as long as it's considered a trope

I mean, Only One Bed is a classic and I love it. Blind date can be very cute. Angry/Delinquent/Punk x Soft/Sweetheart is a dynamic I enjoy v much (idk if that'd be considered a trope as opposed to just a personality dynamic thing).

I think a long while ago I did some kind of chart with various tropes where I ranked which ones I liked the best. I have no idea where that chart is tho.

The minute Eddie Munson turned 18, he could see it; the only color he would see until he and his soulmate kissed for the first time.

Yellow.

Rays and rays of warm yellow sunshine, the middle light (and middle light only) of the one stoplight in town, one half of their school colors, the dandelions spotted agross the grass between the trailers, the stubborn daffodils that keep reappearing in Ms. Wilson’s garden though she’s long since passed…

The half-toned things he’s told are green, half yellow, half blue, and that he got lucky his soulmate’s favorite color wasn’t black or gray (then he felt glad he’d settled on a different color than either of those by time he was older, he didn’t want to subject his soulmate to more black and white..

After Steve Harrington turns 18, he can see the color of the lipstick his mom wore in their last family portrait, the color of the punch that gets spilled all over Nancy’s shirt at Tina’s halloween party, the stripes and piping on his godforsaken Scoops uniform, the red of his own blood rushing down the drain beneath his feet.

The dark tone puddled beneath Eddie’s limp body in the Upside Down.

The same color splashed onto Dustin’s arms and legs.

Pressing his hands into it to stop it from spreading, to start it flowing again, Steve presses his lips to Eddie’s once…he hasn’t done CPR since he worked at the pool….twice…”C’mon man, don’t leave him like this.”....

The third time is when it happens.

The feeble beat of Eddie’s heart starting again, the push of breath into his lungs, the sudden flood of cool, dark colors around them. 

“Eddie? Eddie! C’mon man, stay with me.”

It looks like it takes a herculean effort to do so, but Eddie’s eyes open. “H–hey, Harrington. Wh–”

“I’m going to pick you up now, Ed,” Steve says, doing just that, tucking Eddie into his chest and starting for the trailer. “El is keeping the gate open for us but we gotta hurry.”

The four of them manage to get him out through the gate and into the RV, this time with Nancy behind the wheel. 

Having to let him go at the doors to the ER is one of the hardest things he’s ever had to do, but he manages, Robin telling him over and over again that she’d already called Eddie’s Uncle and that he’d be safe.

While they’re waiting, filthy and exhausted but victorious nonetheless, Nancy says to him: ���It’s blue, by the way. The…everything down there has some sort of blue tinge to it.”

Steve doesn’t ask how she knew, just appreciates that he can look at something and she’ll tell him the name of the color. 

The pattern of the chairs is orange and purple, the plant in the corner is green (“All plants are some shade of it for the most part.”), the wallpaper is his favorite though.

“It’s yellow.”

“I guess I know what color Eddie’s been seeing the past few years..” It’s the first and last thing he says until Wayne Munson comes to get them.

“You three need’ta be looked at too. Not jus’ Henderson.”

He leads them back to a room, and Steve recognizes Dr. Owens there waiting for them.

They get looked over, they get cleaned up, and Steve gets a shot of something that’s supposed to help stave off anything those flying rats may have given him.

And for the next week, he stays. 

He and Wayne maintain a constant vigil at Eddie’s bedside. Wayne leaves for his shifts when he has to, Steve is allowed to stay because of his soulmate status, and Eddie wakes up a little more than a week later.

Wayne had left a couple hours ago, so Steve will have to call him at the plant but first: “Steve?” Eddie manages to croak out when his eyes crack open the first time.

“Hey Eds, welcome back to the world of the living.”

Eddie shuts his eyes and huffs a laugh, then cringes, “Still painful as always, I see.”

“Oh yeah? What else do you see?”

Steve watches his brow furrow as he tries to make sense of the question, watches as he opens his eyes again, a bit further this time, and when they widen in amazement as they travel around the room.

“What–? What the hell..?” The heightened beeping of his heart monitor makes Steve feel almost giddy, getting to watch him see this for the first time. “What nurse kissed me while I was out?” He pauses, staring down a painting of colorful wildflowers on the opposite wall before turning back to Steve. “And can they come back so I can get more pain meds?”

Steve chuckles as he stands stiffly from the hospital chair he’d been all but glued to for the last week, reaching over Eddie’s head to press the call button.

“What’s so funny?”

“You, of course.”

“Thank you, I try, but what’d I do this time?”

“It wasn’t a nurse, Eds.”

Eddie blinks at him for a moment, confused, “I don’t quite have the brainpower for riddles, Stevie.”

Steve’s stomach flips at the nickname, “It wasn’t a nurse, it was when we were still in the—down there.” he pauses, feeling suddenly embarrassed. Did Eddie want it to be him? His first assumption was one of the nurses… “Someone had to give you CPR.”

He watches as Eddie scrolls through what he can only assume is a roster of their “Team Vecna”; Nancy? It’s been known that she’s been able to see in full color since she and Jonathan got together. Dustin? Yeah..no. Ro–

“And it wasn’t Robin.” Steve says when he sees Eddie’s lips curl into an ‘R’.

“Then who—”

It dawns on him at the same time the summoned nurse arrives with a new shot of whatever it is he needs.

She leaves with an excited “We’ll call Wayne!”, and Eddie drops his head back to his pillow.

Steve’s stomach twists anxiously. “Eddie?”

“So you’re telling me that the one and only Steve Harrington gave me the kiss of life and also the gift of colorvision, and I wasn’t conscious enough to experience it properly?”

Steve ducks his head, scratching behind his ear nervously. “Uh…yeah…? Sorry Eddi–”

“Can you do it again?”

His head snaps up again, “Huh?”

“And preferably before I lose the battle for my consciousness?”

Eddie’s face is soft and open, a smile quirking the pink of his lips and crinkling those dark eyes of his…Who is Steve to tell him no?

He smiles softly in return and stands.

Leaning forward with his weight braced to one side of Eddie’s head, the other hand coming up to cup his uninjured cheek, Steve kisses him properly for the first time.

The first of many many many more to come.

I’m assuming it’s something to do with selecting tropes you like? (Maybe some you also dislike? For me that would be pregnancy that’s just put in to make the story “interesting” but doesn’t actually serve the plot. I don’t mind if it’s planned or not as long as it makes sense).

Idk about "best" but I do have my personal favorites. Thats honestly really hard I could probs pick my least faves easier than my faves...but IF I HAVE TO CHOOSE ONE (damn it I love all the gang they are all so close together)

I mean come on... nearly everyone loves Jerry- I'm no different. The energy he brings to the story and how he bounces off Jack specifically is so fun. Like he's part of those types of characters who are directly adjacent to your mains and are super entertaining and campy and usually on the chaotic side of the board, the "comic" next to the "straight man"- even if Jack himself is a bit of an oddball. (Thank god they have Rosa and Amy to balance that)

Everyone loves a jester, comedic, disarming, chaotic and in Jerry's case pretty damn loyal and oddly perceptive.

I really love nasty books. And nasty fanfics. Whether it's gory or smutty or otherwise weird beyond recognition. The sincerity comes through. Even if it's something satirical. You can't hide your freak beneath irony. You sat down and wrote a book about it. Also it's harder to write fucked up stuff dishonestly because there's less of a template you can follow. I'm not talking edgelord shit either because that's just a mode of mainstream writing. Very mainstream writing has well-defined genre-dependent tones and structures. Romances, thrillers, mysteries, action adventure stories all have very identifiable (good and useful) structures. But then some lil freak decides to write their idea of a romance and it's just different. They've created something that's so cracked and asymmetrical that only by straining definitions of fictional devices beyond recognition can you possibly make them conform. ("Meet-cute? Madam, that's a homicide.") And I love that. Keep writing fucked up shit.
