Alucard in dbd idea

Hi, castlevania dropped in dbd and I've been feral, please excuse my rambling.

Reader is a Belmont.

You and Trevor in the fog first and a month or so before Alucard shows up, and when he does he's glad to see his old friend and questions who the other Belmont is(you)

You're delighted to get to know him and Trevor more, as you have read so many books and texts about him from previous Belmonts, it's so nice to finally meet him! However, much like Trevor, there is a bit of a learning curve he has to go through.

Other survivors try to help him, but most aren't really easy on him, which is fair and you don't blame them! After all, in trials it's nerve wrecking, you can't exactly teach him with all the time in the world. But he picks up gens with ease.

It's everything else that trips him up.

Huntress landed one hell of a shot on him, he shouted surprised and pained by the hatchet that came out of nowhere across the map.

His shoulder now slashed, slowly dripping blood and soaking into his shirt and cloak. but ten minutes later as he was helping you on a gen, you noticed he looked to be in far more agony than anyone you've ever met, his skin sweaty, taking shallow breathes, he looked scared.

"Alucard?"

"I'm not healing, why am I not healing? Gods it hurts...what is this?"

You are swift to whip out your med kit and start patching him up, gently shushing his pained whimpers as you focus on healing him.

"There, good as new!"

He still looks so confused, and it makes sense, his own regenerative abilities always came in handy, he's never really need a med kit, and most of his human companions had a mage on hand for healing.

A match against Trapper was much the same.

Alucard didn't even notice the trap, that or he did didn't care, he just walked right into it and his scream was heard across the map, his second scream as he placed on hook sounded like he was right next to you he was so loud.

When you got him off hook and to a safer place, he collapsed on you, his forehead on your shoulder, which was growing wet, either from his sweat or tears you arent sure, but he held onto you as you patched him up, shaking like a leaf in a storm.

"Why...why does it hurt so much? I...I shouldn't have gotten hurt from such a weak trap."

He sounds so tired, his voice is weak, small even.

"The entity's abilities it seems, in this realm you're nothing but a human."

"This is what you feel?" He moves, his watery glowing eyes looking up at your focused expression.

"Every match."

He's horrifed, all these matches where you've gritted your teeth and bared through, all these matches where you sacrificed yourself just to make sure everyone else lived, hell even the missions he knew you took as a Belmont- speaking of!

Your family goes on such dangerous missions, gets injured or even killed, and yet you still bare your family crest? His respect for you and your family grew, knowing first hand the pain of your injuries and yet you still choose to be so selfless.

Cue Alucard falling for you, the poor thing didn't even mean to.

It's just you pulled him off the hook, the bell rings louder, warning there isn't much time left, yet you still came back for him.

The second he was touching the ground, he looked at you, despite the pain he looked at you confused.

Your face was stern, filled with sheer determination as you grab his hand and lead him to the door.

"Why did you come back? You could have escaped instead of dying here with me."

You patched him at at the gate, just to be safe.

"Either neither of us die or we both die."

Your eyes locked

"I'm not leaving you here. Come on."

His own eyes widen.

Oh.

Oh.

........so this is how those dames in novels feel being saved.

Oh, Trevor is going to have his head.

He grows more skilled and knowledgeable the longer he's here, and is determined to help you (by proxy the others) he's noticeably closer to you, practically shoulder to shoudler with you by the fire, the first to help you off hook or to heal you.

Even his familar, which followed him here likes to hang off you and get scritches.

He can feel Trevor's side eye, knowing the older Belmont isn't fond of him cozying up to hos descendent.

But he at least knows Alucard would treat you right.

Part 1 of my Mystreet next gen!

These are the Travlyn and Zana kids! Abby [13] (Jeoffrey's daughter) was adopted by Katelyn and Travis when she was little after Jeoffrey suddenly and unfortunately passed away. Trevor and Willow [8] are their two biological twins and are the mischievous ones of the household.

Katsumi [-1] is the only Zana baby and the youngest of the next gen kids. She was a surprise baby! She's also very much a daddy's girl and is spoiled rotten by her parents. She especially loves it when her parents sing to her.

RE1 is getting remade for the 30th Anniversary and here's why I support it and what I'd love to see in the RE1RR.

Updated with the next gen graphics in the RE Engine

The plan is obviously to remake RE5, but we need to do Wesker's OTHER big appearances first. I believe we should get the following released in the specific order. 1, 0, then Code Veronica and finally RE5. Cause if you tease RE5 and have Wesker, you should have the three games that featured Wesker before his death in RE5.

The atmosphere and tension of the Spencer Mansion in the new age and basically RE1 meets Village. The visual aesthetic of Village’s Castle Dimitrescu for Spencer Mansion.

Better characterization. Flesh out all the characters. Improve the plot/story.

Chris and Jill’s campaigns to be separate and different, so by the time they meet at the end they’ve both had their own adventure, and you need to play through both to see both sides. Perhaps give Chris the mines and Jill the guard house. Expand the mansion, and when they separate at the start they pick up different keys and access different areas. That way they story would be canon regardless of what happens, and there would be some variety. Also have Rebecca and Richard as playable paths, similar to Sherry and Ada in RE2R.

A playable Wesker mode with him having to move about the mansion and into the lab under a certain amount of time.

Also would like them to keep the REmake music (especially the save room theme), though they could always release a Deluxe Edition like 2R with the OG music too?

Additions. I would be happy with an entire new floor in the Spencer Mansion. Or making the Residence 3x as long. Adding a forest section, either during the opening and/or later in the game. Extended playable sequences for Rebecca and Barry – different locations for each, like how the Orphanage was entirely new for Sherry in 2R. An abandoned greenhouse near the guardhouse with Plant-42 and similar experimentation , an extended cemetery with more tombs, a third floor in Spencer Mansion, more floors in guardhouse, etc.

Making S.T.A.R.S. matter. The game begins at the R.P.D. After picking between Chris and Jill, you make your way from the garage and up into the department proper, crossing paths with various characters referencing the recent cannibal killings and the fact that Alpha and Bravo have been assigned. The walk through the RPD could be intercut with news reports and police banter about what’s been happening. You can interact with the various characters as much or as little as you want en route to the briefing room. Chris and Forrest can talk some trash and reference their apparent contest for top shot. Enrico can be seen helping Rebecca organize her equipment and her nerve. Joseph can be given more personality than being puppy kibble. Marvin can be caught informing Rebecca that she won’t be the rookie in a couple more months. Chief Irons can greet the player with the mask of a competent professional because his mind was still intact. Hell, perhaps we can even catch a glimpse of whatever act Wesker put on for the two years that made these people trust him. Wesker and Enrico would then host the briefing that will send them into mountains, still treating this like they think the suspects are hill people or whatever, culminating in Bravo Team taking point while Alpha Team remains behind. There could be some more small talk or some kinda time lapse before Richard makes contact in a panic before communications break down. Alpha Team immediately preps and heads out, complete with changing clothes in the locker room and gearing up. The player will actually play the search through the woods, discover the crashed helicopter, and play through the mad chase to the mansion where the game as we know it begins.

Throw the players off by changing the keys and rooms

Zombies, Crimson Heads and every other BOW in the first game

Include Zero as DLC. My pitch of a RE0R. But the main requirement for RE1 is for Rebecca to NOT be cowering in the corner. Rebecca CANNOT be in the corner cowering from a Hunter when she is more than capable. A simple scream of surprise, but when we reach Rebecca, we see that she's perfectly fine

Bonus costumes For Chris:Made In Heaven outfit, BSAA outfit, CVX STARS outfit For Jill:RE3 original and Remake, BSAA, RE:Resistance, and RE5 Battle Suit.

And finally getting what we never got in the original or the 2002 remake. The ending that has Chris, Jill, Rebecca and Barry in the chopper. So my big idea to make this happen is this. If we play as Jill, Chris makes it to the mansion with us. Jill and Barry go and investigate, while Chris and Wesker are outside. They vanish. Richard will mention that Rebecca Chambers left the mansion after hearing Brad’s radio and went to get help. We will later see Rebecca in the cell with Chris in Jill’s story. For Chris’ story, Barry makes it to the Mansion. Chris investigates the gunshot while Wesker will say they will split up and investigate the Mansion and everyone vanishes. Later in the game before we get to the lab, there would be a dropped Barry’s photograph. Later when we get to the cell, Barry will be in the cell with Jill. Barry apologizes to Chris for what he’s done and Chris understands why he did what he did and he can help make things right. Ultimately in both playthroughs, all 4 S.T.A.R.S. members work together to fight the Tyrant until ultimately Chris or Jill destroys the Tyrant with the rocket launcher. It ends with all 4 members escaping in the chopper as the Mansion explodes.

Ian hosts his first annual movie night at his house and honestly, he’s a little afraid no one will show up. Well, except Anthony. Ian has come to learn since their reunion that he can always count on Anthony to show up and be there, when Ian really, really needs him to be.

So, if it winds up just being he and Anthony alone at his place tonight, it’ll sting a little, but not as bad as if no one else showed up at all.

He had bought snacks for the night, varieties of chips, cookies, drinks, and a little bit of wine. The movie night is set for 7:30 and Anthony shows up at 6. He sits on Ian’s couch, he eats the vegan cookies Ian had bought specifically for him, and they shoot the shit together.

He cleaned up the living room. He didn’t go so far as to decorate anything, but he does have a list of movies queued up to be voted on by the attendees of the party.

“So, not to sound like a high schooler, but what if no one shows up?” Ian asks.

Anthony looks mock offended, “What am I? Chopped liver?”

“You know what I mean. The cast.”

Sometimes, it feels a little like he and Anthony are on an island all their own. That the cast sees them too much like the older parents, no fun, too old to hang out and be one of them.

“I get it, but, hey, if they don’t show up then you and I can watch shitty movies and split a joint and pig out on junk food,” Anthony says.

Ian nods. It does sound nice, any time with Anthony is nice.

By 7:15 Ian is extremely nervous. He’s sure no one is coming. He plucks a few chips from the bowl, eating them to settle his nerves.

“Pacing is not going to help,” Anthony says from where he’s seated on Ian’s kitchen counter.

“Shh,” Ian says.

He was dumb to think that anyone on the cast would want to spend their Friday night hanging out with him and watching movies. They all had lives and parties, and probably a lot of really cool stuff to do, better stuff than watching movies with Ian.

Just when Ian’s feeling extra low, there is a knock on his front door. Ian hurries to the door and opens it, seeing Shayne and Courtney on his front porch, a bottle of wine in Shayne’s hands.

“Hey, Ian!” Shayne says, “this is for you.” He hands off the wine which Ian gladly takes, moving aside to let Shayne and Courtney into his house.

“Hey, glad you guys could make it,” Ian says, but he’s secretly delighted to have any guests other than his best friend who would show up no matter what kind of party or hang out Ian was having.

Okay, so three people. Less than he thought, but he could live with it. Shayne and Courtney were extremely loyal, always had been.

Ian is interrupted in his thoughts by the door once again. When he goes to open it this time, it’s Amanda, Angela, and Chanse.

“Hey!” Ian says brightly, “you guys made it!”

“Yeah?” Amanda says as if it were obvious they’d be coming, “It starts at 7:30, right?”

“Yeah, yeah! You’re right on time!”

Ian is giddy, and he glances across the expanse of his living room to where Anthony is chatting with Shayne and Courtney. Anthony is throwing him a ‘I told you so’ kind of look. Ian feels a little silly for worrying so much about no one coming.

“I brought pasta!” Angela announces.

“Let me show you where to put it,” Ian says, leading her to the kitchen with a big silver tray of pasta.

As he’s showing her where to put her dish and fishing out some extra plates and a serving spoon, he hears the door again. It’s Anthony that goes to answer it this time.

Arasha, Tommy, and Trevor show up, the three having decided to carpool together. Within the next twenty minutes or so, Damien and Spencer arrive as well.

With everyone having come. Ian feels a little giddy, pleased, and most importantly, cared about. He doesn’t often let himself feel like this, too scared to be too open or too vulnerable, but he can tell as they all sit together, watching a movie, sharing food, laughing, drinking. He really didn’t have anything to worry about.

He’s one of them. They are his found family in a sense, his Smosh family. And he had no reason to ever doubt them.

U.S. Air Force Awards RTX $1 Billion Contract to Upgrade F-22 Sensors

The contract follows the recent news about the tests of new advanced sensors on the F-22 Raptor, which the U.S. Air Force is planning to field quickly as part of the ongoing upgrade program.

Amid the acute need for 5th generation fighters in modern combat scenarios against peer adversaries, the U.S. Air Force is looking to upgrade its F-22 Raptor with a series of sensors to make it more survivable and relevant. The service announced on Aug. 29, 2024, the award of a $1 billion contract to RTX‘s Raytheon for new sensors that are categorized as “Group B hardware”, together with spares and support equipment.

“Work will be performed in McKinney, Texas, and is expected to be completed by May 8, 2029,” said the DoD contracts statement. The Aviationist had recently reported that the Air Force was testing new sensors on the F-22 to extend its service life, which would also be applied to the NGAD (Next Generation Air Dominance) family of systems.

That report also quoted Brig. Gen. Jason D. Voorheis, the Program Executive Officer for Fighter and Advanced Aircraft, who said they were hoping to field these sensors faster. The Raptor team had conducted six flight tests to demonstrate the advanced sensors.

“The F-22 team is working really hard on executing a modernization roadmap to field advanced sensors, connectivity, weapons, and other capabilities. We’re executing that successfully, and that will lead to […] a rapid fielding in the near future.” This would be done through a Middle Tier Acquisition (MTA) program.

Some of the sensors included in the contract could be the stealthy pods seen on the F-22. Air and Space Forces earlier quoted officials who confirmed that the pods host IRST (Infrared Search and Track) sensors. The development of a new IRST sensor for the Raptor was also confirmed by the service’s 2025 budget request, which however did not mention the sensor being podded.

This work is part of an F-22 improvement campaign that calls for $7.8 billion in investments before 2030, which includes $3.1 billion for research and development and $4.7 billion in procurement.

F-22’s future in the U.S. Air Force

The development is also in contrast with previously reported USAF plans to retire the older F-22 airframes, for which it had sought approval from the Congress. These F-22s are 32 Block 20 units from a total fleet of 186. At the same time, the service aims to upgrade the remaining 154 with new cryptography, an expanded open architecture, new weapons and an advanced threat warning receiver, beside the IRST.

However, the service now appears to be reconsidering that plan, after Voorheis was quoted in the ASF report: “From an F-22 sunsetting perspective, I don’t have a date for you.” “What I can tell you is that we are hyper-focused on modernization to sustain that air superiority combat capability for a highly contested environment for as long as necessary,” he added.

The U.S. Air Force describes the Raptor as a combination of stealth, supercruise, maneuverability, and integrated avionics, designed to project air dominance, rapidly and at great distance. Initially introduced as an air-superiority-only asset, the F-22 later started performing both air-to-air and air-to-ground missions.

The F-35 is largely a strike fighter and an airborne sensor-fusion and data-processing capable command post in its tactical orientation. But the Raptor is a pure air dominance interceptor. Although costly to upgrade and maintain, it nevertheless can play an important role in degrading adversary air power through either long-range BVR (Beyond Visual Range) and dogfights.

Moreover, having F-22s also increases the number of LO (Low Observable) aircraft in the inventory, at least until more F-35s are available, especially the TR-3 (Technology Refresh-3) Block 4 upgraded variants.

In 2021 too, then Air Force chief General Charles Q. Brown Jr. revealed his “4+1” fighter plan, suggesting the F-22 to be replaced by the NGAD while retaining the F-35, F-15E and EX, and the F-16. The “plus 1” was the A-10, but in March 2023, Brown said the A-10s were being retired faster than expected and the entire fleet would possibly be divested by 2030.

Meanwhile the NGAD’s future itself is uncertain after U.S.A.F have noted its technical complexity and financial implications. The F-22 thus seems to be back in the running.

On Jul. 10, 2024, Air Combat Command chief Gen. Kenneth Wilsbach said during a Mitchell Institute event that the service has no official plan to retire its F-22 Raptors. “Right now, there’s…frankly isn’t an F-22 replacement and the F-22 is a fantastic aircraft,” said Wilsbach. “I’m in favor of keeping the Block 20s. They give us a lot of training value, and even if we had to in an emergency use the Block 20s in a combat situation, they’re very capable.”

Other known F-22 upgrades

Other upgrades mentioned in the 2025 budget request are a Mode 5 Identification Friend or Foe (IFF), Link 16, a Multifunction Information Distribution System Joint Tactical Radio System (MIDS JTRS), a new Operational Fight Program, advanced radar Electronic Protection and an Embedded GPS/Inertial Navigation System (INS) Modernization (EGI-M).

Voorheis also mentioned the GRACE (Government Reference Architecture Compute Environment) software that would allow “non-traditional F-22 software” to be installed on the aircraft and provide “additional processing and pilot interfaces.”

A new helmet is also being tested, as part of the Next Generation Fixed Wing Helmet program to replace the current 40-year-old HGU-55P headgear. The new helmet would also allow the introduction of helmet-mounted devices which provide essential flight and weapon aiming information through line of sight imagery, easing the workload of the pilots.

Small tidbit while I'm building character and challenge ideas.

Honestly, I like seeing the interns working on the show and hosting challenges (or whatever interns do on reality TV sets), so I'm changing the B plot and adding more interns.

The first and biggest change to the rewrite is Nina is no longer a puppet(being?) She is now a 9 year old who is a toned down version of Fiore who stays behind the scene while her uncle, Marcus, takes care of her during filming since she has no parents and he didn't want to leave her alone (last time he did, the house was covered in plastic and some weapons) She's a bit of a troublemaker who might have a tyrant problem but everyone is okay with her and like her so we cool.

Second, Emily does not get fired at all! (I hate that ONC did that). She stays as the social media intern.

Now, time for some ocs (yay!) My intern oc is this 17 year old girl named Emara (sometimes goes by Mara) who is a a bit of a fan girl of the show (and mostly this one character)

She works on the cast outfits in special episodes, creates some of the challenges, and even budgets the show money's. The Network wanted Kristal to pander towards Gen Z (their words) by hiring some teens, so when she posted this offer on the Shows insta account, Mara was quick to apply, begging in Kristals dm 35 times asking for the job (Emara will deny later on when asked) before Kristal finally hired her. (More on backstory later)

Now, HEAR ME OUT! I had this idea that since Trevor and Derek got rid of most of the animals that lived in the woods (plus some interns, thanks to Jensen), Kristal wanted to hire someone to handle and take care of the wildlife during the filming w/o hurting them again but she couldn't find anyone right for the job. But Oliver said he knew someone perfect after finding on this old help site. Drum roll please 🥁.....Dawn from ROTI!

When they reached out to her about this opportunity, she quickly said yes and asked to bring her friend to help out as well. That friend being Cameron!! He focuses on the editing, filming, and technological part of the show (I headcanon them as friends♡). He joined the show for a fresh start (dude is getting burnout during college, struggles, man. Plus, money)

Now, Trevek. I did like them a bit thinking they were married, but season 3 also ruined them with this stupid drama, so they are now boyfriends, where Derek was gotta propose after the season finale but they got jailed so no marriage. Since I'll be making this rewrite as comics (and the occasional fanfic if I could muster up the will to do so), not much of the interns can be affected to the main plot least I feel like it.

Next up, the season 3 cast (also with some ocs 'cause free will!)

Disventure Camp All Stars Power Ranking (Round 20)

At long, long last, it's time to crown a champion! Will Jake rise up to a heroic victory, or will it finally, in a sense, have to be Riya? You probably know what I'm going to say, but, let's dive into it anyways! One last time... :,)

In case you haven't seen my previous power rankings, the Power Ranking Format is essentially a way of ranking how well each player is doing in the game. So, in essence, this is a long form way of predicting who I think will be eliminated from the competition in the next episode. There will be spoilers for last week's episode (obviously) and its power ranking, so make sure to read that first if you don't want to be spoiled on how I ranked our last boot. If you want more clarification on the rules, that first post will help you out as well. Furthermore, I'm going to be spoiling the preview for next episode, so if you want to go in TOTALLY blind, save this for later. Let's go!

Recap - Ally's Elimination

It's pretty funny that, after how well it appeared I was doing with the bench points last time, I only got 1/5 remaining people correct. But, really, how was I supposed to predict that Gabby and Ellie would go to Riya's bench because it had more space on it? And why was Grett out here supporting Riya anyways?!?!

On to the more important part, well, I guess it still wasn't yet Riya's time. I've already spoken on how I thought that the challenge could have been framed better (Riya's lack of jewels still haunts us all), but also why taking out Ally instead of Riya could benefit her character. I'm disappointed that we didn't get to see Ally and Jake duke it out at the end, but hopefully ONC will be able to pilot these pieces into better conclusions for both Ally and Riya. Also Jake, but I think his fate was pretty locked no matter who he was dueling.

Trailer Analysis

Hey, there's Hunter supporting Ally post-loss like I wanted him to! Setting up/bringing back the drawing from the Loser's Motel is a super cute additional detail. I'm guessing this scene will happen very early into the episode, given that it's a direct follow up to what just happened at the end of last episode, and Ally has things to do later on. And Tess will come join them too! With Ally's confiscated games! Very nice.

LMAO, that's what happened to Emily? Quick turnaround on those bandages, girl. I wonder if Trevor will at all try to redeem her here.

Jake will pick up Ally and Tom as helpers, and Riya will pick up Ellie and Alec. It makes sense that Alec is helping Riya (from a writing perspective); they still have some emotions left unresolved that I imagined this episode might want to tackle.

I'd say this was the Jake supporter zone, except then I don't know how to justify Grett being there. I mean, I don't understand why Grett would want to support Riya, but she evidently did, so I don't know what would have caused her to change her mind so fast. Nearly killing Jake, James, Ally, and Fiore doesn't count.

Also, it seems like Gabby and Fiore were missing at some point in time? There might be a scene not included in the trailer of Gabby talking to Ellie and Fiore talking to Alec. Weird that we wouldn't have, like, Hunter/Tess/Ally or Aiden/Tom at the same time, though.

So, my best guess is that it's a "last man standing wins" type of challenge? Like, if you get hit by the colored arrows (of the opposite team's color?), you get eliminated. The helpers are supposed to protect their champion, but they can get eliminated as well. I don't know if that fully makes sense, but it seems viable enough.

This could go to show that all of the helpers will be eliminated before Jake and Riya (as to be expected). Wait, why is Gabby wearing gladiatorial clothing now???

Finally, more Jake/Ellie beef. I missed that this season. (/gen)

Literally everyone comes to align themselves against Riya eventually. I wonder if that can be some sort of a learning moment for Riya.

Well, thank you, ONC, for including this scene to help us understand how the teams come to be. Here's my guess: as the person who placed first in the last challenge, Riya gets her first choice of bench helpers. Nobody wants to help her, until either Kristal reveals that helpers will be paid or Riya tries to bribe contestants forwards herself. Ellie, always looking for a quick buck, agrees to help Riya. Jake then picks Ally, as a show of good will towards his fallen competitor and in hopes of finally fulfilling Connor's wishes. Riya's turn again, and no one is falling for her bribery (interesting if true for Alec). This scene occurs, and Alec is forced to help Riya. Afterwards, Jake has his choice of multiple strong contenders, but with the urging of everyone on Jake's bench (who know that Tom wants to confess to Jake), Jake picks Tom.

We're going backwards this time to ~conceal the mystery~. For all of two seconds.

#2: Riya (2nd Place)

I mean... after everything that's happened, maybe I should hesitate more in putting Riya at second place. After all, she's dodged, like, five straight weeks of me trying to sabotage her to the bottom, just to crawl all the way back to where she ended the last season. She has to, statistically, be the best player in DC history at this point. Maybe she would come through with a win.

Realistically, though, I know that that shouldn't happen. With the prize at $3 million and with the return of any of these characters fully unconfirmed (outside of the tomjake miniseries), I would hope that ONC would be smart enough to realize in advance how mad it would make everyone if Riya was the All Stars winner. As far as I can tell, the main people rooting for her at this point are either A) rooting for Ellie or Alec to get money, or B) just rooting against Jake.

No, it makes far more sense for Riya to come in second place yet again, and realize that, no matter if she plays the game as an underdog-turned-villain or a Queen Bitch from Day 1, she'll never be able to win because of the same reason she wasn't able to win Season 2: connections with people. Riya lost Season 2 because her cruelty and villainy caused Connor to turn on her, and thus lost her a ton of time (and pride) in the cave. This time, her two "supporters" will only be there for facetious reasons, and be unwilling to really take an arrow for her-- or at least, far less willing than Tom or Ally would be for Jake.

And you might protest that Ally would definitely be willing to let Jake get shot, and I hear you, but I also think that's part of the point. It's not like Riya is up against someone like Ashley or Tess, who probably would have been loved and supported by all the contestants up through the finish line. Instead, she's up against Jake, who easily started this season with more enemies than friends, but also managed to convert many of those enemies to friends along the way. Tom, who he had a rocky relationship with; James, who he voted out first; Aiden, who was caught in the crossfire of his jealousy; and even Ally, who initially hated his guts for how pettily he acted over Ashley. It's not just that Riya is up against some saint, it's that she's up against someone who could have been as hated as her, but decided to put in the work to be a better person and try to reforge the connections he burned when he was following solely his own internal compass. Jake is a winner because he's a hero, and he's a hero because he tried. Riya has never tried, and that's why she'll never win.

That being said, there is a compelling narrative to be had if ONC did decide to let Riya win this season for whatever reason. This comic, though a bit outdated compared to what actually happened, does a good job of showing how Riya could still get her karmic comeuppance despite winning the money. (Thank you to @/sapphireroses282 for showing it to me! Also, @/brieflykay, your style is really fun and I like your expressions.) I think the universe will have that handled without Riya needing to win, but it just serves as another example of how you can't call an idea "bad writing" until you see how an author actually plays the scene out.

#1: Jake (1st Place)

If the Power Rankings were actually based on who we thought was going to win the season at any given point in time, Jake would have been at #1 for weeks now. Even if there were times when I thought he plausibly could have been eliminated, I never really thought it would come to pass. And that's because he just makes so much sense as the winner of the season.

When Jake started this season, he was as everyone reported: selfish, whiny, and jealous. One could argue that Jake only did as well as he did in Season 1 because of his strong alliance with Tom and Miriam, who carried him through close to the end. At the beginning, everything stayed the same, with Jake voting emotionally to take out James, but everything also changed, as he was separated from Tom and Miriam was taken out early.

And then he did SO much. I know I've said it at least once before, but this truly was the Season of Jake. He formed a strong friendship with Ashley, but unlike in Season 1, he had to endure the thought of his alliance choosing to work with someone else over him. He was the bigger person in his talks with Tom about why their relationship wasn't working. He patched things up with Aiden, having to admit to his faults, and made a genuine friend. He fought with Ally, yes, but by the end of the season he never voted emotionally to take her out, instead learning about the importance of strategic voting and alliances.

It was hamfisted, sure, but James was right last episode in pointing out how much Jake has changed. He's still Jake, but he's also nothing like how Jake was before. He's the version of Jake that can win a season.

...As long as you ignore that weird relapse in Episode 19. Inconsistencies in DC writing, whatcha gonna do? (/lh)
